How to ruin your vacation with one swipe on your iPhone

$

0

Social media can be your friend when you’re away from home. Unless you make it your enemy. Here are some common mistakes travelers make:

1. Letting the world know you’re not at home

If you “Facebook check-in” at the Bellagio in Vegas, people are gonna figure out that you’re not at your home in Sheboygan. The people you’re friends with on Facebook probably aren’t out to rob your house, but the stuff your friends like and comment on is probably visible to their friends.

And think about it: What percentage of your Facebook friends have you actually never, ever met in real life? Do you have Facebook friends that fall into the “who are these people” category? Exactly.

More: Best spots to pitch at tent in the Midwest and Great Lakes region

2. A little too much online time

You’ve probably announced your excitement over your upcoming vacay on Facebook a few times. And, by a few I mean 160. We get it. You’re excited. But maybe think about taking a little bit of a “Facebreak” when you get a chance to go somewhere cool? Spend a little time relaxing and enjoying what your destination has to offer.

If your selfie at the check-in counter is immediately followed by a snap at the gate, immediately followed by an artfully filtered Instagram photo of your in-flight ginger ale? Maybe you should stop and ask yourself if you’re appreciating your downtime the way you should.

When you call to invite friends over to show them all of your vacation pictures and they turn up their nose at you? Probably a sign that you took too frequent advantage of the free Wi-Fi at 37,000 feet. Only you can decide whether your vacation should include a social media break, but remember this: You can always post pictures later.

3. Failure to scope out your destination

Nowadays, most hotels have a website. And a Facebook page. And a Twitter account. You can reach out and connect with the people who will be hosting you when you travel. You can see pictures. Ask questions about amenities and services. Read reviews. If a hotel doesn’t have a website or assorted social media, there’s always Trip Advisor. Aaaaaaand… if a hotel doesn’t have a website or social media, do you really want to stay there?

Despite your best research, you can still end up with a dud, but don’t complain about your crappy hotel if you failed to do a little checking before you leave home. And if, despite all best efforts, your hotel really sucks, pay it forward and leave an honest review for those who come after you. You know, the smart people who use social media to scope out their destination before they leave home.

4. Failure to consider safety and security

Live streaming apps like Periscope are gaining traction. They’re a fun way to connect to show your friends and family what you’re doing in real time. Periscope (as well as most apps) lets you turn off your location, and you should use caution before broadcasting your location. While you might think you’re safe in a public place, think about this: that means the creepy guy on his cell phone checking you out in Times Square can hone in on you, get your details and follow you back to your hotel.

While you should always think safety, traveling can make you extra vulnerable. You might be more focused on fun or drinking more alcohol. Or, if your nose is buried in a map because you’re trying to orient yourself in a strange city, you might not be picking up on the nuances of what’s going on around you or know where to go to get help.

Bottom line: Always think twice before sharing your location on social media, especially when in unfamiliar surroundings.

5. Forgetting about basic technology

If you know you’re going to spend a lot of time on social media, think about what you need before leaving home. You might need an extra power source or “juice box.” If you’re traveling overseas, you may need converters, adaptors and VPNs.

Check with your service provider on changes in your coverage if you travel. An extra $500 on your phone bill because you didn’t have a travel-friendly plan? Not a nice surprise to come home to.

If you’re truly a social media junkie and you’re not going to be able to relax without your phone, then make sure you have all the bells and whistles before departure.

6. Being unaware of what apps will make your trip easier

Apps can make travel so much easier and you’re putting yourself at a disadvantage by not knowing what’s out there. All major airlines have apps that alert you to gate changes or flight delays. You can download your boarding pass to your phone, calculate currency conversions in a nanosecond, find a ride, find food, get un-lost and figure out what the cute guy at the cantina in Rio is trying to ask you? Yes, people. There are apps for everything.

Spend some time learning how social media can make your vacation easier, safer and more fun. And then go have fun.

Happy travels!

RHOBH's Kim Richards could wind up in the slammer after all

Kim Richards could see the inside of a jail cell over her drunken night at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

Richards originally avoided jail by accepting a plea deal that included three years' probation, attendance at 52 Alcoholics Anonymous classes, and 30 days of community labor. But sources told TMZ that Richards has been unable to provide documented proof that she has performed any reasonable amount of that.

A bench warrant was issued for Richards' arrest by a Los Angeles Country judge today for her failure to present any proof — but a rep for the reality star later showed up in court, conceding that Richards doesn't have any proof. Despite this, the judge withdrew the bench warrant, although Richards could still go to jail after the hearing if the judge determines that she is not meeting the terms of her deal.

A source close to Richards said that they fear the situation is actually pretty dire.

"Kim has not been coming at all to the meetings in West Hollywood for quite some time. She used to attend daily," an insider told Radar Online.

"Her friends and sober family started to worry about her when she stopped returning people's phone calls several months ago. Eventually, her recovery friends just gave up. It works if you work it, and she clearly did not want to do the work."

Richards, who is currently appearing on The Mother/Daughter Experiment with her daughter Kimberly Jackson, was arrested last spring for public intoxication, resisting arrest and battery of a police officer after a drunken evening at the bar in the Beverly Hills Hotel got a bit out of control. She faces two years in jail if she violates her probation.

No one's sure how to feel about Kylie Jenner calling herself an inspiration

"Business mogul" may not be the first words that come to mind when you think of Kylie Jenner. You're more likely to think "Snapchat queen." But much like her sister Kim Kardashian, Jenner is constantly having to name exactly how successful she is — and the rap sheet is pretty powerful stuff. In the new issue of Glamour UK, Jenner talks about her business empire, and some people just can't handle the truth.

More: Stop rolling your eyes at Kylie Jenner — she actually had a tough childhood

The article had the same aspirational, "look at what she's done" tone we usually ascribe to a female mogul — but since Jenner is also known for her colorful wigs and her bikini photos, people are perhaps surprised to hear that, yes, she considers herself a feminist.

Importantly, she takes care of herself. "I'm a young woman, for one thing, and I don't depend on a man or anybody else," Jenner explains. "I make my own money and start my own businesses, and I feel like I'm an inspiration for a lot of young girls who want to stand on their own.

"I haven't had a dollar of my mom's money for five years," she says, alluding to her family's fortune. "Ever since I started earning my own money, I've paid for everything: all my cars, houses, clothes, everything. I like to know exactly what's going on, and I'm actually quite careful with what I spend. We all are as a family."

Boozy 'Strawberry Julius' is a million times more fun than going to the mall

These days, with Amazon prime at my fingertips there are very few things that I can actually justify as important enough to go to the mall. Without fail, any time I go to that dreaded place, I end up leaving with a whole lot of built up anger whether it’s from the parking lot insanity to people walking too slow and taking up the entire width of the walkway to kids screaming and throwing tantrums or just customer service incompetence in whatever store I was in.

That said, there are precisely two redeeming things about the mall these days. Auntie Anne’s (is there anything better than that pretzel smell?) and the Orange Julius shop. Gosh, I love those fruity orange sweet drinks. Since we’re smack in the middle of spring and strawberry season, it seemed fitting to give the classic mall drink a strawberry twist and of course, add some booze to the mix too. If only they sold this version in the mall, perhaps those screaming kids and crazy parking lots would be a little more manageable.

Finally The Amazing Race is getting heated

The Amazing Race is beginning its march toward a finale, which means the competition is reaching a fever pitch. That was more evident in this week's episode than it has been in any week prior, and it looks like things will just get more heated next week.

While racing around Bali, Indonesia, competitors had to fish out a clue from the bottom of the ocean, then head off to haul 50 coconuts and four chickens across a long foot bridge before ultimately facing a U-turn. What they didn't yet know was that it was going to be a double U-turn. In Amazing Race terms, a U-turn is when one team is picked to have to go back and perform the second roadblock in addition to the first one they chose.

MoreThe Amazing Race's Kurt Gibson makes shocking personal confession

Fan favorites Tyler Oakley and Korey Kuhl reached the U-turn first and made the smart choice to make one of the other strongest teams, Brody Smith and Kurt Gibson, have to double back. What they hadn't thought of before they left was that four-time second-place finishers Burnie Burns and Ashley Jenkins were going to get there second and use the second U-turn on them — a brilliant strategic move, almost assuring that Gibson and Smith would be eliminated.

This unspoken partnership was one of the most clever and intelligent on-the-fly moves any of the teams could have thought up. Of course, it made Gibson and Smith a little salty, and for good reason. The Frisbee Guys did end up getting eliminated, and people were understandably upset. After all, they were one of the stronger teams.

More: The Amazing Race's Dana Boriello shouldn't be shamed for her meltdown

While it is hard to get sent home for something that was basically out of your control, it seems that this new pseudo-alliance might backfire. During the preview for next week's episode, the audience got a glimpse of what appeared to be Dana Boriello and Oakley potentially working together. Then we heard an upset Burns saying something along the lines of "couple of jackasses working together" while he is running around looking for a clue.

We will have to wait and see what really went down. But with only a few episodes left, is this the beginning of the real fireworks we've been waiting for?

Shark Tank is better when Sharks offer advice, not insults

$

Insults and belittling are an integral part of Shark Tank; a lot of people tune in specifically to hear Kevin O'Leary's trash talk. But the show has gotten a bit too negative as of late, with the Sharks (especially O'Leary) spending too much time insulting entrepreneurs and not enough time guiding them. Tonight, then, was a breath of fresh air. While Mr. Wonderful was as nasty as always, the other Sharks offered some great feedback to an entrepreneur with an interesting idea in need of some refining.

FashionTap
Image: ABC

Amy Roiland's plan is simple: She wants fashionistas to influence others and earn money by tagging their favorite brands on FashionTap, a promising new social networking app. It's a great concept, but the Sharks believe that, thanks to Instagram, the market has already been saturated for some time.

More: Shark Tank's NoPhone is an insult to real entrepreneurs

Despite their concerns, the Sharks stifled their impulse to talk trash and instead explained why they were so hesitant to make a deal. They also offered a few viable paths to success; for example, Barbara Corcoran suggested working with a big box store. Additionally, the Sharks advised Roiland to not focus on blindly marketing with what little money she has available but rather to think more about cutting deals with business developers.

Shark Tank
Image: ABC

Unfortunately, the Sharks' good advice is not always well received. Tonight, for example, Amy Roiland disregarded the excellent feedback offered by Corcoran and her fellow Sharks and decided to hold out for more money — even though the offer she received from Corcoran was fairly generous, given the circumstances.

More: Shark Tank's Sharks go overboard with health product critiques

When Roiland turned down Corcoran's deal, the generosity disappeared and the Sharks started to get a bit nastier. However, by this point, viewers agreed that Roiland was asking for the negativity. A few even claimed that her appearance on Shark Tank was nothing more than a transparent marketing ploy.

Shark Tank fair deal

Corcoran wisely pulled out, and Roiland walked away without a deal. She did, however, receive plenty of notoriety, which is probably what she wanted in the first place. In fact, the fashion app crashed as a result of the traffic brought about by her appearance on Shark Tank.

More: Shark Tank entrepreneurs shouldn't mix business with romance

Regardless of their behavior at the end of tonight's FashionTap segment, the Sharks gave some truly intriguing insight while discussing fashion and social media with Roiland. This segment of the show was very enlightening and thus more valuable than the name-calling that has, unfortunately, become a regular part of the show.

Kesha is back in the studio doing exactly what she should be doing — making new music. The singer announced today that she will be releasing a new single with Zedd on April 29. This is a huge announcement and an amazing sign of hope for Kesha, so everyone needs to support it no matter what it sounds like.

The DJ said that their song “True Colors” will be out on Friday and that “music can be freedom!” A clear commentary on Kesha’s dire situation with Dr. Luke and Sony.

Kesha also did her part to tease the song when she posted a picture to Instagram on Tuesday, April 26. She captioned the black and white image, “It's a miracle when someone gives you a chance at finding your voice again with no reason other than that he is a f--king beautiful person with a heart of gold @zedd #truecolors.”

Zedd certainly had no reason to reach out and work with Kesha, but he did it because he saw what a terrible position the courts and Sony have put her in and wanted to help. Because Zedd is signed to the same Kemosabe label as Kesha and Dr. Luke, she is allowed to make music with him without Dr. Luke present. It’s not a loophole in any of the court decisions, it’s just a lucky coincidence that Zedd is an amazing, supportive artist who wants to help Kesha out.

No matter what "True Colors" sounds like, everyone should show their support for the song. This is the only music Kesha has been able to record or release since her 2012 Warrior album and there’s no end in sight for her legal battles. As she continues to fight for her freedom and career, the only thing we can do is support any music she releases.

UPDATE: On Friday, April 29, Kesha posted a snippet on her Facebook, and it already sounds great.

Prince reportedly traveled miles for prescription pills

When Prince died at his home in Minneapolis on April 21, it became more apparent than ever that the 57-year-old entertainer was such an enigmatic figure that it would take weeks or months to unravel the details behind this tragedy. The word flu floated around after the singer's plane was forced to make an emergency landing one week prior to his death, but two more words quickly followed: prescription pills.

Prince was reportedly so addicted to prescription drugs that he traveled miles to purchase them, and his odd behavior might indicate that he was trying to cover up an addiction that may have been worse than we imagine.

TMZ is reporting that Prince visited a Walgreens drugstore four times in the week leading up to his death. But it wasn't always the same Walgreens. The night before his death, Prince reportedly traveled six miles from his home to a Walgreens in Minnetonka, passing up at least eight pharmacies closer to his home. It's unclear which pills Prince was taking, but the assumption (which is unsubstantiated) is that he had to switch up drugstores because many big chains will refuse to sell people prescription pills if they realize one person is purchasing them too often and possibly abusing them.

More: Tributes to Prince have taken a turn for the absurd

Prince's family members reportedly told TMZ that they suspect the Purple Rain star was using multiple aliases and doctors to make it possible for him to buy pills.

It was previously reported that no emergency medical calls were made from Prince's home within the last few years. Well, the news is starting to look very different now. Between 2013 and Prince's death, four medical emergency calls were reportedly made from Paisley Park, according to reports from the Carver County Sheriff's Office. The first three calls, made in 2013 and 2015, are not a matter of public record, so it's impossible to know whether they even concerned Prince. The last call, on the day of Prince's death, was made at 9:43 a.m. When sheriff's deputies arrived at the compound, they found Prince unresponsive in an elevator. A law enforcement source told CNN that he was found with prescription opioid medication on him and in his home.

More: Prince still has me in the palms of his charismatic hands

The results of an autopsy performed last week are still pending, and we have no idea whether his death was directly related to prescription pills. And even if pills are a part of Prince's life narrative, we don't know whether he was suffering from another physical ailment that made him seek the comfort of opioids or other drugs. There's still so much left to learn about the singer and his last days, and we're only beginning to put the pieces of the puzzle together.

Kelly Ripa's next co-host may be Mario Lopez: Wait, what?

$
0
0

You might say Mario Lopez has served his time on television. The actor's most famous role is probably A.C. Slater on Saved By the Bell, but Lopez has also performed on Broadway and as a host for both Extra and The X Factor. And, now, the major leagues could be knocking on his door: There's a rumor that Lopez may host Live! with Kelly Ripa after the contentious news broke that Michael Strahan is leaving the show (and that the network may have disrespected Ripa by keeping it a secret from her).

Ellen DeGeneres held Lopez's feet to the fire, interrogating him on her show about whether he would be up for the morning hosting gig. Judging by his answer, it certainly seems like he's thinking about it (and it also seems like the offer has been made or at least discussed): "That's very flattering," Lopez said. "I know some people who were saying that. Again, very flattering. I love Kelly. I've guest-hosted with her a few times. She's awesome... I'm looking forward to going back and guest-hosting."

He continued, "I gotta go over everything with Mrs. Lopez. She's the real boss of the house, so we'll see what she has to say about that."

More: Kelly Ripa tried to address the drama — but I really think she avoided the whole thing

Not so fast, however. Lopez isn't the only charismatic male TV star who adores Ripa and would kill for the job. Alfonso Ribeiro reportedly already volunteered to relocate from Los Angeles to New York City if producers thought he was a good fit for Live! And Anderson Cooper, one of Ripa's BFFs, had nothing but lovely things to say about the opportunity to work with her.

"Kelly is the heart and soul of that show, and it's going to go on and continue to be great, and I wish Michael the best in his new endeavor," the 60 Minutes correspondent and CNN anchor said on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. "Look, I'm very happy at CNN. It would be a dream to work with Kelly, but nobody's offering anything, so..."

More: Shay Mitchell lands a temporary hosting gig — is this her next career move?

Personally, I think Cooper is just being sweet. As much as I'm sure he loves and supports his friend, he already has a successful career at a different network. Lopez seems like a good match for the show, but the choice for Pretty Little Liars' Shay Mitchell as a temporary host also begs the question: does Live! need a male co-host to fill Strahan's shoes, or will they consider another strong female host?

And who does Ripa want to work with? Give the TV vet a say in the matter — she has certainly earned that respect.

5 steps to help make your dreams come true

$

Every person has something he or she truly wants out of life. It's in our nature. When you look at the billion dollar self-help industry, you can see that everyone is seeking direction on how to get what he or she wants. Most people don't end up getting what they want in life because they quit, they stop believing or they lose focus. If you really want to attain something in life, doing these five things will make it easier.

More: How meditation can help ease your anxiety

1. Know what you want

Step one is knowing what you want, and you have to be clear about it. One of the best methods to figuring that out is to write it down. For example, you can want a new car that is reliable. Think about why that's important to you, though. Maybe what you're really after is the stability and not the car itself. Dig deep through this process. Naming what you want is essential to getting it.

2. Get inspired

Do everything you can to get into a positive mind set about what you want. Write down what you're grateful for, hang out with only positive people and find things that inspire you daily. Staying positive is a huge part to getting what you want in life. You have to make it a ritual daily to truly see the benefits. This one step is a major bridge to getting everything you want.

More: 6 yoga stretches to help you get rid of neck pain

3. Take steps toward what you want

Your dreams aren't going to create themselves. Action is needed. As you hold your dreams close, opportunities will make themselves available, but you're also going to have to do some work. Be creative and use your talents to obtain the things you want. If you want to be a famous painter, first you must paint.

4. Get support

Let those who are close to you know what you're hoping to achieve. Let them know that their support would greatly help your path. Many doors may open this way. For example, a friend will hear about an opportunity and immediately think of you because he or she knows it's aligned with what you want. Let the people around you help you along the journey of getting what you want.

5. Believe, believe, believe

You absolutely must believe that what you want is within your grasp. If this mean visualizing every day, do it. Watch what you say when it comes to your dreams. You have to believe that you're worth it, that you deserve to receive what you want. You have to believe that you can have it. If you don't believe, all the points above are just a lot of work without any reward.

I lost a boob to breast cancer and never replaced it

As we drove toward my cabin in upstate New York, my friend Nancy reminded me that the last time we had seen each other "was before you dropped a boob." I laughed out loud and have used the expression since, taking away all the drama and making it equivalent to dropping five pounds or dropping out of a book club because no one ever accepts your suggestions about what to read next. Not the end of the world — file it in the "stuff happens" category.

More: 5 misconceptions about breast and ovarian cancer you need to stop believing

Sometimes I forget to put my prosthesis into the pocket built into my post-surgery bra. The first time, I was horrified and sure that everyone at work would notice. Later the same day, I became despondent that no one noticed. It's not like the one boob I still had was tiny. We are talking a C cup. It's more like no one is looking at my boobs.

I am 69 and my colleagues are busy with their own boob worries — coworkers are boobs, neighbors are boobs, landlords are boobs, total strangers nearly running one down with their bicycles are boobs. And of course, at my female owned and operated nonprofit, they have boobs themselves — boobs that could also become cancerous. Bottom line, they've got their own problems.

No one at work has asked me why I didn't have reconstructive surgery, so I'll tell you why I dropped a boob rather than get a brand new boob.

In general, I don't like it when perfectly qualified medical professionals, or anyone for that matter, slice into my body and then stitch the gash closed. The whole process is usually unpleasant, to say the least.

My perfectly wonderful surgeon who would remove my right boob sent me right over to a perfectly nice and nearby plastic surgeon who took my insurance for a consultation about getting a new boob after the cancerous one was removed.

I was asked to strip down to pretty much nothing, and the plastic surgeon took photographs of my nakedness, asking me to rotate so that he could have on-hand photos of my entire upper section. "Why?" I asked. And he had a perfectly prepared reply: He had to decide to take tissue from my back, my butt or my stomach — or maybe implants or some combination.

More: I'm thankful for the mammogram that may have saved my life

"Oh," I said.

He added that he would then have to rearrange blood vessels from my belly area to the breast area to keep the newly pasted-in tissue alive.

"Oh," I said.

He very carefully explained the complexity and hazards of the prospective surgery.

"Oh," I said.

He asked if I had any questions, and I wanted to know how long I'd be out from work. He said I should be able to return to work after six weeks.

I fled. As the CEO of a small nonprofit, there was no way I could miss six weeks of work.

At the risk of being repetitive, I really did not like the idea of people in scrubs with sharp knives carving openings in my body, even though they promised to sew them closed. My adult daughter, who knows everything about health, reminded me that I would have no sensation in the nipple, even if it were tattooed. Like every good mother, I rushed to my laptop just to make sure she was correct.

She was, but there was more — much more — information on the American Cancer Society’s webpage about reconstructive surgery that gave me significant pause — a long list of the things that go wrong sometimes.

I do not regret that I decided to drop a boob. I do regret that the post-mastectomy bathing suit I bought is ugly, by my lights. I would really like my black Speedo back.

I regret that I can no longer wear dresses or blouses designed to reveal a bit of cleavage. They no longer work for me. I regret I had breast cancer even though I breastfed for a total of three years and my father was an organic gardener — just not fair.

I do not regret missing the opportunity for six weeks of recovery from a painful, and somewhat hazardous, surgery that would give me a facsimile of a boob on the right side.

Recently, I had an occasion to visit my internist, who is in her 60s too. She had discovered my lump in the first place. I truly trust her because she accepts total responsibility for my having to go through the entire mastectomy rigmarole. As was expected, I was clothed in a pale blue paper thing meant to resemble a gown. Good Doc, let's call her, noticed my prosthesis resting on a nearby shelf.

"You were so smart not to have had reconstruction," she said, glancing toward my beige plastic thing. "It is such extensive surgery," she added with a disapproving shrug and a shake of her head.

"Oh," I said with a wide, but humble, smile.

Colic and reflux can be extremely distressing for both baby and parent. In some cases, it can take a while to find the best form of relief, and as an alternative to prescribed drugs, parents may consider holistic remedies such as herbs and nutritional supplements.

More: After this toddler's tragic death, should kids see naturopaths?

Chiropractic care is another treatment some parents opt for, hoping to relieve their infant's discomfort, but Australian doctors are warning against it after a controversial video of a chiropractor cracking the back of a 4-day-old baby girl was posted on YouTube. As a result, the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners is telling members not to refer patients to chiropractors.

The video shows Melbourne chiropractor Ian Rossborough manipulating a premature baby's spine to treat colic and reflux. After watching the footage, President of the College of General Practitioners Dr. Frank Jones called the treatment "an unnecessary and seemingly almost cruel process that there is actually no evidence to support." Dr. Jones said it "should not be practiced" because it may put the baby at risk of fractures and other soft tissue damage.

"We don't crack anything. It's not a crack, it's a very specific, it's the end of my fingers... and it's about that much pressure," he said.

Meanwhile, the Chiropractic Board of Australia has flagged concerns about the number of chiropractors who claim that manipulating the spine can treat disease and infection, particularly in relation to claims relating to babies and children. The board stated that there is "insufficient scientific evidence to support these claims."

The stress of having a colicky baby who never stops crying can be unbearable, and it's understandable that parents at the end of their tether are willing to try anything to find relief. But until there is some solid scientific evidence to support claims that manipulating the spine can successfully treat colic and reflux, stick to gently rubbing your baby's back, not cracking it.

Brutally honest art project shows the reality of Tinder dating

Britain-based artists Andy Leek and Daniela Sea both swiped right on Tinder earlier this year. After talking, they decided to go on a date on one condition: Each side would film before, during and after the date — and then they'd splice the videos together.

More: I mail love letters to strangers and it's not weird at all

What happens next is a brutally honest take on first impressions and dating in the digital area. Both film their date preparation process — and Leek seems more hopeful than Sea — and they eventually meet. Over drinks, the pair take turns going outside to film their thoughts.

"I don't think I will have a crush on him," Sea says at one point, eventually adding that he "looks like one of my gay best friends" and that she couldn’t imagine falling for someone who looks like him. She does note that he has "really amazing energy," though, and she warms up to him throughout the night.

Leek eventually tells the camera that he's going to try to kiss her, and he follows through. We won't spoil the ending of the date, but will say that their meet-up about a month later to talk about the project — and all of their honesty — is pretty awkward. Let's just say we're glad we've never had to own up to our own thoughts post-date.

The 25-minute video is long, but worth it — it'll either make you happy you've never had to endure a similar date or cringe at how closely it resembles your typical meet-ups.

Why these knitted bra inserts are in demand with breast cancer survivors

In the interim, many women opt for prosthetics, but the medical-grade silicone ones can be hot, heavy and uncomfortable. That's where Knitted Knockers comes in. These prosthetics are exactly what they sound like — knitted inserts that are "comfortable, beautiful and when placed in a regular bra they take the shape and feel of a real breast," the organization behind the Knockers says on its website.

More: Your bra can't give you breast cancer and other boob myths you can forget

"Knitted Knockers can be adjusted to fill the gap for breasts that are uneven and easily adapted for those going through reconstruction by simply removing some of the stuffing."

Knitted Knockers

Knitted Knockers

Most importantly, the Knockers give survivors their confidence back.

"They are a perfect fit, I CAN'T see my feet again (!!!) and I am beyond thrilled!" one woman wrote on the website as a testimonial. "I'm strutting around like a peacock tonight with my beautiful pink knockers."

More: Soon, your bra could detect breast cancer before your doctor

"When I opened the package, I cried tears of relief and joy," said another recipient. "They are so soft, comfortable and natural looking. Thanks to you, I was able to return to work looking like myself, being comfortable and feeling great."

The best part: They're free. "Our special volunteer knitters provide these free to those requesting them," the organization adds.

You can even help women get new knockers by downloading the patterns and knitting your own pair. It's a simple yet incredibly powerful way to give to others.

Best lines from the White House correspondents' dinner

I love the annual White House correspondents' dinner. It's that one time a year when the president is allowed to relax a little, let his hair down, and make some fantastically pointed jokes about himself and the other party. Our president finally gets to say, "You know what? Fuck you, too." And we all smile and laugh. It's an excellent event.

This year promised to be a winner. It's Obama's last correspondents' dinner, and comedian Larry Wilmore presented the featured remarks.

More: 54 celebs, movers and shakers attending the 2016 White House correspondents' dinner

These are some of our favorite lines and moments from Obama's and Wilmore's speeches.

Obama's opening

After coming to the podium to the song "You're Gonna Miss Me When I'm Gone," Obama looked at the crowd and said, "You can't say it, but you know it's true."

Obama got jokes

When talking about what he was going to do after he left the White House, Obama said he might go to Goldman Sachs and "earn me some serious Tubmans."

"Next year at this time, someone else will be standing here in this spot, and it's anyone's guess who she will be."

"Last year, I said it was time to change the tone of our politics. Clearly, I should have been more specific."

"My approval ratings are going up. The last time I was this high, I was deciding on my major."

Obama on Bernie

"Bernie, you look like a million bucks — or, to put it in terms you'll understand, 37,000 donations of $27 each."

"I'm hurt that you've been distancing yourself from me, Bernie. That's just not something you do to your comrade."

Obama on Hillary

"Hillary trying to appeal to young voters is like your older relative who just signed up for Facebook. 'Hello, America. Did you get my poke? Did it show up on your wall? I'm not sure I'm using this right. Love, your Aunt Hillary.'"

Obama on the Republicans

He compared the Republicans' choices for their nominee to choosing between fish or steak at a dinner: "You might not like fish or steak, but that's your choice."

"I'm surprised [Trump's] not here tonight. We had so much fun the last time."

Trump would be the perfect guy to close Guantanamo because "he knows a thing or two about running waterfront properties into the ground."

Obama's closing

He said, "Obama out." And then he dropped the mic. Literally. He picked up a microphone and dropped it.

****

Then came Larry Wilmore, who faced a tough crowd. They were not into him, but I think a lot of us who weren't in that room enjoyed him.

On next year's dinner

It'll be called "Donald Trump presents a luxurious evening paid for by Mexico."

On Obama's hair

"Your hair is so white, it tried to punch me at a Trump rally."

"Your hair is so white, it keeps saying all lives matter."

Wilmore credited Obama with busting a couple of black stereotypes: "Black does crack, and once you go black, it looks like we are going back. Thanks, Ben Carson."

On poor, poor C-SPAN

"C-SPAN is the No. 1 network among people who died watching TV and haven't been found yet. I'm glad I'm not on their rival network, 'No Input HDMI 1.'"

Fun live TV

We got to see Don Lemon flip Wilmore the bird after Wilmore referred to him as "alleged journalist Don Lemon."

On Ben Carson

"Ben Carson said Andrew Jackson was a tremendous president. From the grave, Jackson said, 'What did that jigaboo say?'"

On Bernie Sanders

"Bernie's been hanging around with rapper Killer Mike — or, as Hillary calls him, Super Predator Mike."

"Bernie Sanders is so old, his first campaign slogan was 'Fire.'" (This was my very favorite joke of the entire night.)

On Trump and Cruz

"Trump looks like the dad in every episode of Law and Order where the frat boy strangles a hooker."

About Ted Cruz: "Even O.J. Simpson said, 'That guy's just hard to like.'"

More: Hillary Clinton's "woman card" versus Donald Trump's "man card" — It's on!

Wilmore then started a string of jokes about the internet rumor that Ted Cruz is the Zodiac Killer. "Heidi Cruz said that when she and Ted first got married, he bought them a hundred cans of soup. Not looking less like the Zodiac Killer. I don't even think he wants to be president — I think he's just going across the country zodiac killing." (This was also my favorite joke of the night.)

Wilmore's closing

After some heartfelt words to Obama about how much his presidency has meant to Wilmore, he ended with, "Yo, Barry. You did it, my n***a."

Disney has to #GiveElsaAGirlfriend because lesbians deserve fairy tales too

Disney's Frozen may have given us the traditional boy-meets-girl, happily-ever-after story for one of the sisters, but the other was still single when the closing credits rolled.

More: Being gay in a homophobic family means you don't get the same privileges

Now, there's nothing wrong with that. But what if Elsa remains single not because she hasn't found the right guy but because it's actually another girl she wants?

It's a theory that's growing legs on social media, with some fans calling on Disney to #GiveElsaAGirlfriend. This is one hashtag we can definitely get behind. After all, Disney has always been superb at teaching kids (and grown-ups) important life lessons. We've had “When life gets you down, you know what you gotta do? Just keep swimming,” from Dory in Finding Nemo. We've had “You must not let anyone define your limits because of where you come from. Your only limit is your soul,” from Gusteau in Ratatouille. We've had “No matter how your heart is grieving, if you keep on believing, the dream that you wish will come true,” from Cinderella. And so it goes. But we've never had a Disney message about LGBT relationships, and with Frozen 2 in the works and Elsa still very much a single gal, what better opportunity does Disney have?

Disney has already given us a gay princess — Mulan in the ABC TV series Once Upon a Time, who revealed her love for Princess Aurora. However, she never acts on her feelings and the show wasn't a global box-office smash, so the message didn't exactly reach the masses.

More: Two gay penguins are in love, and now they get to be together forever

There's absolutely no argument against having an LGBT relationship in a Disney movie. First of all, representation is so important. Showing kids an LGBT relationship on the cinema screen isn't going to "make them gay" (for those who believe that's a bad thing) or confuse them — it's going to encourage them to believe that love comes in many different forms, each one as genuine and deserving of our respect as any other.

And for kids who are LGBT, just imagine the difference it would make to their lives, their self-image and their confidence if they saw a gay Disney princess or prince on screen. The only way to make LGBT relationships (which are completely normal) actually "normal" in the eyes of society in general, is for mainstream media to embrace, promote and portray those relationships. And you can't get much more mainstream than Disney, right?

One Twitter user, @TheDanaAddams, reminded us that Frozen is "one big metaphor for being in the closet, getting outed, and coming to terms with yourself," which pretty much makes it the perfect movie to help us teach our kids that love between a straight man and a straight woman is only a tiny part of the picture.

So come on, Disney, let's give Elsa the girlfriend she needs — it could just be the most awesome move you've ever made.

Helen Mirren pays Prince the perfect purple tribute

Dame Helen Mirren paid tribute to Prince at the annual White House Correspondents Association Dinner in Washington, D.C., on Saturday night, and although she herself doesn't think it's the coolest way to honour the late artist, we think it's pretty damn special.

More: Prince reportedly traveled miles for prescription pills

Because how many 70-year-olds would turn up to the White House with a hand-drawn purple temporary tattoo in the shape of the Prince symbol on their collarbone?

"I admire great artists and he was a great artist," Mirren told The Washington Post. Of her body art, she said, "I’d love to say that Prince himself did it in 1988 or something, instead of me in the bathroom this morning."

The actress paired her tattoo with a purple gown to show her appreciation for the music icon, who was found dead at his Paisley Park estate on April 22.

Even President Obama acknowledged the greatness of Mirren during his correspondents' dinner speech, saying, "Helen Mirren is here tonight. I don't even have a joke here. I just think Helen Mirren is awesome."

More: My love for Prince was one-sided, but it was real

Mirren is well known for wearing her heart on her sleeve (or her collarbone). At the 2005 Kennedy Center Honors, she wore a T-shirt over her dress to pay tribute to Hurricane Katrina victims. And last year, Mirren was among a handful of stars who declared "Je suis Charlie" at the Golden Globes following the terrorist attacks in Paris.

Since Prince's death, a huge number of public tributes have been made. Celebrities have declared their love and gratitude for him all over social media. TV channels and radio stations have aired Prince music, movies and concert footage. Some of the most famous landmarks in the world turned purple.

But Mirren's handmade temporary tattoo is just as meaningful because it's something a regular fan would do. She didn't care if she looked ridiculous. She simply wanted to honour a great artist.

Obama may just want to cry, but Malia's Harvard-bound

Everyone's been wondering about what Malia Obama, the president and first lady's 17-year-old daughter, is going to do after high school. She's already made a splash in the entertainment industry, interning on both Lena Dunham's HBO show Girls and working as a production assistant for Halle Berry’s CBS show Extant. So, of course, we're curious about whether or not the first daughter might be a budding player in the entertainment world.

More: These college scholarships aren't just for the geniuses and jocks

Malia's plans after high school just became a little clearer. The White House announced today that Malia is Harvard bound, like her mom and dad. Here's where things get interesting: She's going to take a gap year first, and her plans to fill out her year haven't yet been announced. What will Malia get up to in her gap year? More television internships? Volunteer work? Only time will tell.

Before choosing Harvard, Malia visited about a dozen campuses, including Princeton. President Obama shared his fatherly advice about trying to find the perfect college with a group of high school students last year: “One piece of advice that I’ve given her is not to stress too much about having to get into one particular college,” he said. “Just because it’s not some name-brand, famous, fancy school doesn’t mean that you’re not going to get a great education there.” As things turned out, Malia's going to the fanciest, most name-brand school you could imagine. However, President Obama's second bit of advice is pretty relatable to anyone who's ever dealt with applying to colleges:  “Keep your grades up until you get in, and after that, make sure you pass.”

More: How to help your student cope with college rejections

America's gotten to know Malia a bit more than previous first daughters. We've seen the teen out and about doing everything from catching indie IFC films in the West Village to snapping Instagram photos with her friends at hip Manhattan restaurants. And Malia's grown up pretty gracefully and comfortably in front of the cameras, with media outlets eagerly mapping the first daughter's style evolution and declaring her a trendsetter in her own right. So, all eyes will be on Malia as she finds her way as an adult.

President Obama has been quite vocal about the fact that he is absolutely not ready for Malia to leave home. “As Michelle reminds me, our job is to prepare them not to need us," he told Ellen Degeneres. "Both my daughters are wonderful people and Malia's more than ready to leave, but I'm not ready for her to leave," he added.

In fact, Obama said that the idea of Malia, whom he has described as his "best friend," leaving home made him so emotional that he chose not to make a speech at her graduation from Washington's Sidwell Friends School; he didn't think he could handle it. "I'm going to be sitting there with dark glasses sobbing," he said.

He gives props to his wife, though, for raising such a strong daughter: "She's just a really smart, capable person and she's ready to make her own way."
