ARIES (March 19 - April 18)

If there was ever a time to plot a new course in your career, then it would be now. For years Pluto has weighed heavily on the top of your solar horoscope — stifling your independent streak and making you doubt your abilities. You felt stuck in a rut and like you were getting nowhere fast. This week, however, Pluto makes the switch from being an obstructive planetary force to becoming an empowering one. But this energy will only work if you seek out new situations to showcase your talents and demonstrate your prowess. You need to boldly go where no Aries has gone before!

Whoops! Did you take a left when you should have turned right? Miscues, misdirection and overall bad advice are known to happen when Mercury is retrograde in your sign. You could blame the friends and associates who filled your head with questionable notions, but at the end of the day you're the one in the driver's seat, so you have to take responsibility for your actions. Next step? Seek out that boss, client or love interest you dissed and do what you can to salvage the situation. You may not be able to get things back on track immediately, but you will eventually if you act this week.

GEMINI (May 20 - June 19)
Image: SheKnows

You're traveling through a tricky passage. The sun/Jupiter trine on May 3 should be beneficial because their alignment in the heavens spells good fortune for you. In fact you could be looking at a situation that's like a dream come true. However there's a difference between good fortune and better fortune, and that's where timing is key. You could take the deal, offer or bid that's on the table or wait until Jupiter comes out of retrograde on May 9. The advice is to stall — even if it seems unnecessary — because you could agree to terms now only to discover they could have been better.

Why catalogue all of the inconsistencies and unfulfilled promises, and collect all the time-stamped emails if you aren't going to do anything with them? Yes, you have been led on and let down, but if you can't find a way to enter into a positive negotiation (rather than a finger wagging one) then you won't make much headway. Outrage is a turnoff. And so is whining. However outlining a list of action steps aimed at salvaging that situation at work will capture the attention of that client or boss. Do it effectively and you'll even be able to name your price — within reason of course.

LEO (July 22 - Aug. 21)
Image: SheKnows

You're experiencing a wave of success right now. It's a bit overwhelming as you race to keep up with all of the breakthroughs and positive outcomes working in your favor. Yet it's important during times like these to bird-dog the details. Don't let yourself be carried away by the current of events or you'll miss out on ways to make what's good better. Although famously irksome, retrograde planets can also work like time-release capsules of fortune where their benefits are released slowly and over an extended period of time. Pay attention to subtle developments on May 9 and 22 and you'll see for yourself.

VIRGO (Aug. 22 - Sept. 21)

The sun/Jupiter trine on May 3 points to an amazing offer or once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that's too good to pass up. This is so unexpected and wonderful that all of your loved ones and friends will be chanting: “Take it! Take it!” From the looks of it, the decision appears to be a no-brainer. There are no hidden gotchas or innocent looking booby traps lying in wait. However Jupiter is yet to come out of retrograde. This change of direction in your sign points to a surprise turn of the tables on May 9. Wait until then to act and there will be no rude awakenings.

Seeds planted months ago are bearing strange fruit. It's not that things have taken a turn for the worse or bizarre. It's just that you're pretty good at forecasting how things will turn out and the way that things are turning out runs contrary to your expectations. It's going to take a while to see if the results are sweet or sour so take your time assessing the situation. You may think you should stick to the game plan but rules are meant to be bent and you're most creative when you've gone off book. Let some spontaneity into your life. You won't be disappointed.

We all adopt roles to help us navigate our way through the day. We might puff up our chest when we feel the need to impress or pretend like we're helpless to get someone to rush to our aid. As a Scorpio, you like to project a cool and controlled façade. This worked when you had to protect your flank from naysayers, but now people treat you more like a machine than a person and it's making you feel lonely and taken for granted. Make a point of showing people who you really are underneath. Show them some vulnerability and they'll show you theirs.

You'll want to pay attention to what transpires on May 3 when the sun trines Jupiter at the top of your solar chart. You've been so distracted by all the recent delays and debacles that you might not have noticed that work is on an upswing. Maybe it's the acceptance of a proposal, the success of an endeavor or an uptick in orders. This bump is proof that you're on the right track and that you should redouble efforts and invest more energy. Right now you're in a building phase that could turn into a real boom when Jupiter comes out of retrograde next week.

You invest too much energy in contingency plans and not enough in what you really want to do in life. Maybe it's the second job you work in case the first one folds, extra gigs you take because you never know when they'll dry up or maybe you're a perennial student who's always enrolling in courses. It may be hard to believe, but the things you think are helping you are actually deterring you. They're stealing your focus and your time. You need to toss the crutches and commit to your journey. You may discover that you'll get a lot further without the extra burdens.

Most people focus on the crown of the tree rather than its roots. It makes sense given that it's the branches and foliage that catch our eye. Yet even though they have a job to do, which is photosynthesis (collecting the light that makes the tree grow), the main source of nourishment still comes from the roots. This is why you need to turn your gaze away from branching out in all directions and bring your focus back to the root problems that are popping up now. It may not be as glamorous, but your timely attention to security and sustainability will work wonders.

This week you are under the protective umbrella of a grand trine in earth. A grand trine refers to a triangle of planets that creates a kind of shield in the heavens. This one brings prosperity as well as protection. You should be enjoying a measure of financial stability now as well as good health. It's solid ground beneath your feet after months of struggling with a slippery slope. This grand trine won't last forever, so take the next two weeks to fortify your position. If this requires paying back loans, changing jobs or committing to a new health regimen, then do it now.

ARIES (March 19 - April 18)
Image: SheKnows

Why is it that when things are going well in your relationship, you start to say provocative things? It's almost as if you're not comfortable unless you're fighting. This is hardly surprising given that your ruling planet Mars is famously named after the Roman god of war. The idea of beating swords into plowshares has always made you uneasy. You can't help but feel like you'll lose your edge if you lower your guard or become complacent. There are healthy outlets for this sort of irrepressible energy that don't involve antagonizing your partner. Sex is one. Long-distance running is another.

Everyone assumes that Taurus people are just into security. Give them a spouse with a house and a seven-figure salary and they're set. What's not spoken about much is that Taurus people need the right type of security. In other words, you want to feel emotionally valued and appreciated and not like a trophy wife who gets taken down off the shelf once in a while for a thorough dusting. Make your feelings known to your partner this week. It may take a few tries for him to catch on, but when he does he'll happily make you feel like you're one in a million.

GEMINI (May 20 - June 19)
Image: SheKnows

Watch it because you could become a real bitch on wheels this week. The culprit here is the moon/Mars opposition on May 7. Gemini moons create emotional climates where people feel feisty and easily irritated. Put opposite combative Mars and that lunar energy goes from disagreeable to contrary for contrary's sake. You could wind up in a circular argument spinning round and round like a rudderless ship. The underlying problem is you know your partner is on the fence about a certain decision that impacts you both. Badgering him into making up his mind before he's ready won't help, whereas giving him space will.

It appears as if that two-way street has grown a bit one-sided lately. Everyone becomes self-absorbed when they're undergoing a crisis. Life can suddenly get overwhelming and it's only human nature to adopt the bunker mentality — i.e., hiding out in a foxhole until the emotional bombshells stop exploding overhead. Nevertheless, a relationship is made up of two people and he can't expect you to continue tolerating his emotional distancing, unreturned phone calls and monosyllabic responses for much longer. Either he's going to share with you what's going on or you need to take a temporary break until he re-emerges from his funk.

No Beckys can stop Jay Z and Blue Ivy from enjoying Beyoncé's music

By now, anyone who hasn't been in a coma or living in a cave off the grid has heard of Beyoncé's Lemonade. Unfortunately, fans' witch hunt to discover the identity of the mysterious Becky, the woman who Beyoncé's lyrics suggest Jay Z cheated on her with, has been dominating headlines. First, the Beyhive trolled the social media accounts of designer Rachel Roy and even the Food Network's Rachael Ray, convinced that one of them was the "Becky with the good hair" named in a song about infidelity on Beyoncé's new visual album. Now, author Karrine Steffans has come forward, claiming that she was in fact one of several Beckys with good hair — which makes you wonder how many more women claiming to be Becky are out there. How long is this thing going to last?

More: Beyoncé's Lemonade is about so much more than Jay Z cheating on her

But while everyone seems wrapped up in the Becky drama, the Carter family themselves seem to be getting along just fine. TMZ just released an adorable video of Jay Z and his daughter Blue Ivy dancing happily backstage as Beyoncé belted out "End of Time" during the Tampa leg of her tour. And at the end of her tour, Beyoncé was sure to thank her "beautiful husband" and her family for supporting her.

Jay Z and Blue Ivy

Jay Z and Blue Ivy

Though the world may be frantically combing through Beyoncé's lyrics, looking for hints that her family life is shaky, you can feel the love when you see Jay Z dancing with his daughter to her mom's music. But he's been getting a lot of heat lately. Fans mistaking fake Instagram accounts for Jay Z's official one have been showing the rapper their wrath, shaming him for his alleged affair with some Becky, calling him a piece of shit and writing that Beyoncé deserves better.

Why can't fans accept that Beyoncé and her family could actually be happy? Unfortunately, Lemonade is prompting many fans to embrace a mob mentality and tear down both Jay Z and other women. Rachel Roy dealt with comments on her Instagram telling her that her career was over and even suggesting that she kill herself. And both Roy and Ray have had plenty of women calling them whores and sluts this whole time.

Maybe we should try looking at things a little differently. In Lemonade, Beyoncé powerfully channels the hardships women often have to confront and overcome in their relationships and family life. Fans are forgetting that there are strong themes of forgiveness and redemption in Lemonade, too. "Baptize me... now that reconciliation is possible. If we're gonna heal, let it be glorious," Beyoncé recites in one song. And, of course, forgiveness is going to look different for everyone. For some mothers, it might just mean accepting that while your child's father is a lousy partner, he's a great dad.

Rather than taking the album at face value and seeing it as a call to arms to smash cheaters and other women with bats, fans could try being happy for the Carter family. Did Jay Z cheat on Beyoncé? I honestly don't care, because it's not my business. But let's say he did, and he's now proving himself to be a good husband and loving father. If that's the case, then power to the couple for holding their family together and emerging stronger than ever.

Once Upon a Time: I refuse to believe Hook can't be saved

$

0

Add Sunday's episode of Once Upon a Time to an already long list of heartbreaking episodes. After traveling to the Underworld to save Hook, that story line came to a close — or so it seems. The good news? Everyone got back to Storybrooke, including Hades. The bad news? Hook is still trapped in the Underworld. I know, it's as devastating as it sounds.

More: Did I really just witness Once Upon a Time's Cora become Mother of the Year?

The episode opened up with Hades going to Emma and everyone else from the Overworld to help him save Zelena from Rumple and Peter Pan. Eventually, and thanks to some pleading from Regina, they ended up doing just that. In the process of saving Zelena, Hades also tore up his contract for Rumple and Belle's unborn child (or that's what it looked like, because you never know with Hades).

Soon after Zelena was rescued, she passionately kissed Hades, which also healed him and released him from his punishment in the Underworld. Now that he is freed, a fully formed portal opened up in the clocktower, which everyone could then use to travel back to Storybrooke. In addition to that, Hades also removed everyone's names off the headstones.

Hook and Emma
Image: Tumblr

So, all is good, right? Well, yes, except for Emma splitting her heart and giving it to Hook. Yeah, she did that, but it didn't work — again. Apparently, Hook has been dead for too long and can't accept her heart — unlike David, whose soul never left his body, since he was only dead for a few seconds.

Now that Hades is a so-called good guy, he told Emma of a way to save Hook. Hades told them the story of Orpheus and Eurydice (from Greek mythology), who are the only two souls to have ever escaped the Underworld. They used ambrosia, aka the "food of the gods," to get back to the land of the living.

More: When is Once Upon a Time's Mulan going to catch a freakin' break?

Of course, Hook and Emma set off to find it. During their adventure, Regina convinced Robin to hand over his baby girl to Zelena, who then went to the portal with Hades, while everyone else waited for Emma and Hook. As you can imagine, this was all part of Hades' plan. That's right, Hades can't be trusted. Surprise, surprise. I mean, did they really think they could trust him? The only good news is that Zelena is unaware (yes, I know her heart will be broken over the news), but I'm glad she is still walking the hero path.

Anyways, Cruella and the Blind Witch trapped Regina, Henry, David and Robin so they couldn't get to the portal. Oh, and if you think Hook and Emma found the ambrosia, you'd be wrong. Yeah, it looks like Hades cut down that tree. Again, all part of his plan. What does that mean? Hook can't leave the Underworld and go back to the land of the living. It looks like the only way he can get out of the Underworld is to find his unfinished business and move on.

If you think Emma and Hook saying goodbye (again) was heartbreaking, you'd be correct. There were Hook tears. There were Emma tears. Before leaving Hook behind, Emma told him not to make her his unfinished business and to not wait for her to show up, but to please move on. Hook also told Emma to not put her armor back on just because she had to lose him. Ugh. I'm starting to tear up all over again.

With that, Emma and everyone else went through the portal back to Storybrooke without Hook. Yeah, I refuse to believe Hook is stuck in the Underworld and/or won't come back to Emma somehow. I mean, viewers didn't see him move on, so his story isn't officially closed, right?

Well, that's what I will continue to believe until I see or am told otherwise. With that, excuse me while I go cry myself to sleep over Captain Swan being separated once again.

9 Reasons you're a better mom than you think you are

$

0

If you're a mom, chances are, you've spent a lot of time thinking you're not good enough. That's the plight of being a mom — you love your kids fiercely, but you're still riddled with crippling self-doubt. On this Mother's Day, it's time for a reality check: You really are a much better mom than you give yourself credit for.

How can I be so confident in saying this? I don't even know you, after all. But here's what I do know. I struggle with feeling like I suck literally every day. I watch other moms and am in awe of the little things they do. I would never look at any of these women and think that they're doing a terrible job.

They show up. They love their kids. They fail. They try again. And so do you. The next time you get down on yourself for snapping at your kids before bedtime, pull up this list as a reminder that you are doing more than OK.

1. You show up

Mom

Image: Giphy

Didn't I already say that? It's worth mentioning again. You can't call in when you're sick (or even sick of your kids). You put your best foot forward, and you're here in the midst of the chaos every day.

2. You see the big picture

Picture

Image: Giphy

If I learned anything by sobbing my way through the movie Boyhood, it's that the rewarding parts of motherhood have nothing to do with the big milestones. It's those little moments you have with your kids that no one else will share. Danielle Larkins of Tiny Trots says, "I embrace the little things — like when I see my kids go over to a hurt child on the playground and ask if he or she is OK, or when my son hugs and kisses his little brother even after he was bitten by him. These acts of kindness and empathy let me know I must be doing something right."

3. You dry the tears

Crying

Image: Giphy

You might be sensing a theme here, and you'd be right. Motherhood isn't about doing anything epically special. It's about being in that moment with your kid when they need you the most. According to Dr. Jane Greer, New York-based relationship expert and author of What About Me? Stop Selfishness from Ruining Your Relationship, "If you're worried that you're not doing enough, know that you're a better mom than you think you are and keep in mind that you don't have to do anything — just being there for your kids works wonders. If they need a shoulder to cry on, if they're frustrated or sick, you're right there for them all the time."

4. You're the cheerleader

Brad Pitt

Image: Giphy

Who has two thumbs and thinks that everything her kid makes is the work of a genius? This gal. Patricia Di Gasbarro, founder and president of Shoosha Truly Organic, explains to SheKnows, "Your child feels emotionally and physically safe with you. They can get up and sing their heart out, dance full out, do any artwork at all, and you will always think it's the most brilliant piece of art you've ever seen."

5. You're the human Kleenex

Veep

Image: Giphy

Were you born to be a Kleenex? No. But you have adapted to the role beautifully. Take a moment to give yourself a slow clap in the mirror for cleaning up more carnage than a crime scene cleaner sees in a good year.

6. You conquer your fears

Yes

Image: Giphy

To say that I was scared pants-less with my first kid would be an understatement. But I put one foot in front of the other and made it through that frightening first year, and so did you. Nicole Ryan, SiriusXM Morning Mashup talk show host and first-time mom, agrees: "I've never been so scared to do anything in my life as I was to become a mom. However, it turns out that the whole maternal instinct thing is real."

7. You "let it go"

Frozen

Image: Giphy

Just a few years into parenting, and I'm ready to drop the Stepford Wife act. These days, if we make it through the afternoon without a toddler Fight Club or a meal thrown on the floor, I feel pretty accomplished. Julie McCaffrey, Chief Baby Planner of BabyNav Baby Planners, adds, "Your baby doesn't appreciate if you are giving him store-bought baby food instead of organic homemade purees, and he doesn't care if his onesie matches his socks and he definitely doesn't care if you are teaching him sign language. But he does know you love him with all your heart and are there to protect him and care for him forever."

8. You think about your kids nonstop

I love you

Image: Giphy

Every time I slip out of the house for an afternoon to myself, I inevitably find myself thinking about my sons. Am I crazy? Nope. I just happen to like them a lot. Akilah Serna, C.E.O. of Belly and Babe, explains how she stays connected with her kiddos during the workday, "I often find myself thinking about something funny they said or even something frustrating they did. It runs the gamut but usually ends up making me smile as I go through my day."

9. You make your family proud

Proud

Image: Giphy

I know motherhood is a selfless job that isn't about the accolades, but I'll take compliments where I can get 'em. You know it, and I know it — when someone you care about pats you on the back for being a great mom, it makes your year. Serna says, "I knew I was a better mom than I often thought I was when my mother said to me how proud she was of the wife and mother I have become."

In what was arguably the best episode of Fear the Walking Dead so far this season, Madison's typically brooding daughter got to meet her radio-crush, Jack, face-to-face. And, can we just say, "Oh, honey."

First and foremost, this is your spoiler warning — this article contains plot points from this week's "Blood in the Streets." Now that we got that out of the way, let's talk a bit about how we got here.

More: I trust Fear the Walking Dead's Strand about as far as I can throw him

As you'll remember, when the family first boarded the Abigail, Alicia took over the radio in an attempt to seek out any remaining shred of humanity. She soon stumbled across a young man, presumably around her age — how fortuitous! — and they struck up a seemingly fast friendship. Or whatever.

When Strand shut down the idea of picking this strange new friend and his people up, Jack made a vaguely ominous comment about seeing Alicia soon.

And tonight, he made good on that promise.

As Chris and Ofelia are talking, a lifeboat approaches the Abigail. Inside it are two young men and a young woman — the latter is pregnant and apparently in great distress. While Chris struggles with whether or not to let them aboard, Madison and Ofelia leap to the newcomers' sides without hesitation.

Since the voice inside every fan's head is now Strand, you were probably silently screaming at your TV at this point: Don't trust them! Don't let them on the boat!

Alas, not only did they bring these mysterious survivors on board, Madison took the young woman into the bowels of the boat to tend to her supposed distress. At that point, all hell breaks loose as the young woman slams Madison's head into the bathroom mirror.

More: Fear the Walking Dead: Wait, is Nick the moral compass on this show?

Above deck, the two young men overpower the rest of the crew and begin binding their hands. Alicia, who'd passed Madison and the young woman as they rushed down the hall, finally arrives on the scene and recognizes the voice of one of the guys.

Jack. It's Jack, y'all!

Unfortunately, it turns out Jack isn't exactly a swipe-right kind of guy. In his defense, he's not the worst. That title belongs to his brutal co-conspirator, Reed, an uncouth lackey for a con man named Connor. How apropos, eh?

Connor has apparently taken to salvaging useful items and people from the remains of the day, and he has his sights set on the smart and handy Travis as well as Alicia — for reasons unbeknownst at this point, unless Jack's crush on her counts.

At first, Alicia objects to the situation and tries to rationalize with Jack and Reed. However, when they are alone and Jack explains that he doesn't like this life but he is obligated to Reed, Alicia tells him she will help them... that maybe they met each other for a reason.

She's gotta be scheming him, right? I mean, surely she is manipulating him the way he manipulated her. The look on her face as they hugged certainly seemed to suggest so.

Then again, this is Alicia. Remember how mopey and irrational she was to her last boyfriend, who was killed off at the beginning of Season 1? She might really be swept up in her 'knight in shining zombie guts' (as good as armor in this world) scenario.

But, God, I hope not.

To be clear, Jack is hot. I get it, girl. I don't blame you for feeling a little flustered over his swoopy hair and heart-tugging sob story. Still, this is not the time to be letting hormones drive your decisions. Fingers crossed Alicia simply has some masterful scheme of her own to exact. In the meantime, I don't hate having to look at Jack's face every week — I'm not mad at it.

I'm convinced Scott Disick isn't really a womanizing jerk

I’m a really big fan of Scott Disick. I think his self-absorbed antics are entertaining. The way he loves Kourtney Kardashian is adorable. And I think how he handles the madness that is the Kardashian family is hilarious. Every episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians that he’s in, he steals the show at least once. And then I read about him online and I can’t stand him.

When Disick shows up in random countries sunbathing with different women, or when he blacks out at clubs or says really arrogant things to the paparazzi, I think it’s best if we never hear from him again. I don’t understand how both an endearing and repulsive man coexist in Disick.

More: The latest Scott Disick rumor of him partying with teenagers is just sad

On tonight’s season 12 premiere of KUWTK, Disick is buying kitchen accessories, learning how to cook, and doing everything he can to be the best father he can be. He’s maintaining close relationships with Khloe and Kris. And he’s co-parenting the best he can with Kourtney.

How is it possible that the sweet, concerned father is also the guy who takes a Kendall look-a-like on a date?

More: 8 signs that point to Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick reunion

This may be naive, but I want to believe that the real Disick is the one on TV and not the womanizing ass the tabloids try to make him out to be. I know that the Kardashians are producers on the show and the amount of actual reality on their “reality” show is close to zero, but I just can’t imagine he’s that good of an actor. He just seems so genuine!

And really, who voluntarily shops with their mother-in-law for kitchen accessories if they’re actually a selfish jerk?

More: Scott Disick has a new woman in his life, but not everyone is happy for him

One of his biggest challenges is consistently being a good guy. He’s good for a couple months then does something major to screw it up. So, it’ll be interesting to see what happens this season. But I’ll be rooting for him. Long live Lord Disick!

Students use Snapchat to find each other in most Millennial dating story ever

It turns out Snapchat can be used for much more than sending Face Swaps and filtered selfies to your friends.

It also helps fate find two people.

Let me explain. It all started when a student at the University of Wisconsin used Snapchat to blast out a video that, in part, showed a cute tall guy in a Minnesota Vikings jersey. One girl noticed and used the app's geotagging feature to enlist the help of the whole university to find this cute dude.

More: If you want new friends and possibly an orgy, there's an app for that

And the whole university watched Memorial Library Girl and Vikings Guy send messages back and forth in a quest to meet.

"Guy wearing the Vikings jersey on the UW snap story, I’m seriously in love with you. Find me," she sent in the Snap.

"To the girl from the Memorial Library. It looks like they took down my first snap but that’s OK," he responded. "Maybe if it’s fate they’ll post this one. Meet me here."

She soon responded.

"Sorry I didn’t know you’d replied to my video so I missed the 8.30 at the Discovery Center. But if it’s fate I’ll see you out tonight," she continued.

He replied: "I’ve got a project to finish up here but I can probably make it out later for a drink. Let me know when and where."

From there, fellow students waited with bated breath to find out if they'd meet. "You can sit right there and do your project or you can get your ass up and you can find that girl, man. She’s looking for you, man," one guy said in a Snap to Vikings Guy.

"I’m sitting here refreshing my Snapchat every 30 seconds so I can get updates from Vikings Fan and Memorial Library Girl," another student added. "Hope you guys meet up tonight."

And then, it happened: "I found her!!!!!!" he wrote after they found each other at The KK, apparently a UW hotspot.

No word on if the two are dating, but at least two students bet $20 that they'll get married. Will it be the first Snapchat wedding? Let's hope.

Quantico's big terrorist reveal feels more like a plot hole than a plot point

Well, we finally got to find out who's been pulling Alex's strings and it feels kind of like a cheat! From the beginning, we've been told that the terrorist was one of Parrish's fellow NATs at Quantico...

More: Quantico: I'd rather see Parrish team up with Shelby than any of her crushes

Warning: spoilers ahead!

And tonight's episode started off with a bang when hottie, Drew Perales, showed up in a hospital with radiation burns — a sure fire sign he too had been in contact with the nuclear bomb — only to claim that fellow hottie, Agent Booth, was behind the whole awful terrorist plot!

Quantico tweet - Booth

Quantico tweet - Booth

Of course, when Parrish plugs the thumb drive Perales gives her into Booth's computer, she realizes Booth is innocent — but first they have a seriously violent, knock-down brawl in his office where all that pent-up relationship angst results in a bunch of broken furniture and Booth getting handcuffed to his office door.

More: Quantico: Miranda's speech to Parrish finally made the show worth watching

So you know what that means, right?

Yep, a few minutes later it's revealed that Drew Perales is "The Voice"!

All I have to say about that is, seriously? He didn't even show up until the mid-season return! And he spent most of that time as Parrish's eye candy/booty call. He had a mysterious tremor, and a beef with O'Connor, but he didn't seem the terrorist mastermind type.

Of course, that doesn't mean he's working alone... It's actually a pretty safe bet that he's got someone working on the inside, since he was kicked out of Quantico in last week's episode.

Quantico - come on!

Quantico - come on!

And that means O'Connor is still under suspicion! Just because Parrish bought his sad alcoholic act doesn't mean we've written him off our suspects list. Vasquez is totally a possibility as well — her supposed death by bombing has yet to be verified and she was way too casual about wearing that bomb vest.

I guess we'll just have to wait to see if Perales' inside man — or woman — is revealed next week...

Game of Thrones [SPOILER]'s return was epic but also seemed too easy

Game of Thrones fans can actually get a good night's sleep tonight after questions over Jon Snow's fate since the end of Season 5 last year have finally been answered.

WARNING: Spoilers ahead! Do not continue reading unless you want to know all the epic dirt on Game of Thrones Season 5 Episode 2.

So Jon Snow is back from the dead, thanks to Melisandre finally doing some good with her blood magic.

Let's all do a happy dance and then take a step back to question whether his resurrection really went down like we saw. Was it really Melisandre's doing?

I'm not so convinced. Even she wasn't convinced at the end of her spell.

Remember, we never actually saw Thoros of Myr bring Beric Dondarrion back in seasons past. We saw him bend over Dondarrion's lifeless body, but that's it. So really, Melisandre's witchy spell is unprecedented in the Game of Thrones world. Meaning, we can't take the spell at face value. Maybe it didn't actually work. Maybe her faith has been shattered and the real hero in all of this was someone or something else.

More: Game of Thrones actor may have revealed the return of Jon Snow

Think about it, Ghost has stayed by Jon Snow's side like glue since his death. And during Melisandre's spell, the show kept panning to cuts of Ghost lying nearby. Could he have been connected to Jon's return somehow?

Jon's return just seemed too easy. But things on Game of Thrones are rarely what they seem.

Melisandre, despite her lack of confidence, cuts some of Jon's hair, waves her hands and he just starts breathing again? No way.

What if it's much more complicated than that.

Now, I could be just trying to create depth in the moment where there wasn't any beyond the obvious. Maybe Jon's resurrection was simply Melisandre discovering her connection to her Lord of Light once again.

More: Game of Thrones' Thoros of Myr is returning — but will Lady Stoneheart show up?

Or maybe it wasn't a coincidence that Bran returned to the show during the same episode that Jon rose from the dead, with Ghost there sensing the whole thing.

Do you think Melisandre really was responsible for Jon's return or is his resurrection more complicated than we know?

I visited an Ayurvedic expert and have never felt better

Ayurveda is a system of preventative medicine and wellness that originated in India more than 5,000 years ago — and is winning over countless health and beauty enthusiasts who are only beginning to discover its incredible benefits. Whereas Western medicine focuses on pharmaceuticals and treating a health problem that has already reared its ugly head, ayurveda encourages the prevention of illness and a steady, attainable state of well-being using food and herbal remedies as medicine.

If this all sounds complicated, I assure you it's so beautifully simplistic you'll wonder why you haven't been following an ayurveda diet plan all along.

As a newbie researching the topic, one name continuously popped up on my radar: Dr. Pratima Raichur, a chemist, botanist and ayurveda physician who is also a skin care legend in New York and an inspiration to so many practitioners. I respect her work immensely, but in order to prove the accessibility of ayurveda, I chose to visit Anit Hora, a Brooklyn-based herbalist and licensed esthetician who grew up in India with the principles of Ayurveda (she's also the owner of Mullein & Sparrow). For Hora, ayurveda isn't a trend — it's a way of life that makes practical sense to her, even when she can't explain it.

"Ayurveda was always in the background when I was growing up," Hora says. "When I was younger and didn't feel well, my mom would make me hot milk and turmeric, and it was my least favorite thing. We would always try to hide it from her when we were sick. I also remember telling friends, 'You can't eat that! It's a hot food,' and they were like, 'How is a mango hot?' I would tell them they had to drink lots of water when they eat it to create balance."

After studying ayurveda as an adult, it all began to make perfect sense to Hora. In order to achieve balance in the body, it's important to know which foods energize your system and which deplete it — and having an understanding of your dosha is the first step. One of the loveliest things about ayurveda is that it acknowledges that no two people or their dietary needs are exactly alike, which explains why your best friend can consume plate after plate of hot, spicy foods, and you feel like death after just one bite of eggs with cayenne pepper sauce.

There are three doshas: vata, pitta and kapha. You can read more about each dosha and take a dosha quiz here, but here's a brief rundown of each. If you're vata, you are associated with air or wind; have a lean build; cold, dry and light skin; and are creative, quick-thinking, fast-moving and prone to anxiety. The pitta dosha is connected to the element of fire. You're a medium build and can gain and lose weight quickly. You also have a quick temper, a strong appetite and are intellectual. Finally, like water, those with a kapha dosha are steady and slow-moving. They have amazing memories, are compassionate and sleep soundly at night.

More: 5 holistic ways to get your hormones back on track

You can possess a combination of all three doshas or inhabit characteristics of two doshas, which is why it is recommended that, if you're serious about getting your ayurveda on, you visit an expert and don't just rely on an online questionnaire. If you're like me, your ayurvedic practitioner will take one look at you (and also take your pulse), ask a couple of questions and say with assurance, "Vata. Total vata." I already knew the following traits were true for me: I'm always cold. My skin errs on the side of dry. I'm quick to learn things and quick to forget them. I can't sit still, and I can be a totally annoying space cadet at times. Now I was going to set forth on a quest to balance my flighty vata-ness with a specific ayurveda diet plan and (thanks to Hora's wisdom) a few necessary beauty and lifestyle changes intended to ground me.

Hora is a firm believer that many health and skin problems originate in the gut. In other words, if you're not open to changing your diet to suit your dosha, the greatest essential oil on earth isn't going to do very much to improve your skin. Vata people respond best to oily, heavy, sweet and slightly pungent foods and meals. Think stewed fruit in the morning mixed with a warming spice such as cardamom or cinnamon, bananas, sweet potatoes, red lentils, oatmeal, and lots of stews and soups that contain a blend of veggies, grains that are easy to digest, and spices such as cumin, turmeric and coriander.

As I learned more about my vata food needs, it began to occur to me: There may be a very real reason why my stomach always feels slightly off when I eat raw vegetables and fruits (my dosha is advised to cook everything). White breads and foods made from white flour make me feel sluggish and sit in my tummy for hours. And, no matter what the temperature is outside, I'd always much rather guzzle down a glass of room temperature water than anything that contains ice in it — another vata recommendation.

Ayurveda is part of the wellness category for a solid reason. It seems to work best (at least it did in my case) when I also actively engaged in daily mindful breathing exercises and yoga. It's about responding to what your body needs in that moment and feeding it well. In order to do so, you have to be actively listening to your body's signals. By going with the flow and not trying to feed your body foods that don't work in its favor — in my case, that means giving up apples, broccoli and eating cold leftovers — you start to feel your system working with you, not against you.

I found my ayurveda diet plan simple to follow, and it came naturally to me because I craved most of the foods on my do-eat list, but, of course, I also incorporated a few new foods and practices into my daily routine. I now start each morning with a warm glass of lemon water to which I add a dash of cardamom. I don't enjoy my lemon water, but I know it helps clean my system and prepare it for whatever else I'm about to eat that day. For breakfast, I'll either have baked apples with ghee and cinnamon or hot oatmeal with bananas, almonds and chia seeds. I'm not evolved enough to substitute my beloved coffee with tea, so future goals, maybe (but probably not). My go-to lunch is whole grain toast with warm pesto sauce, avocado and a tomato omelet grilled in coconut oil. Because I'm a mom with two kids and a husband who is not (yet) on board with ayurveda, it's sometimes difficult to cook a vata meal, but some combination of root vegetables and wheat pasta always works.

More: Do you really need different sunscreens for your body and face?

Other minor vata-pacifying changes I've made have been an honest-to-goodness pleasure. Massage is huge in ayurveda, as it is said to restore the flow of vital energy called prana. After I shower, I perform a mini self-massage using sesame oil (there are specific oils that work for each dosha), which is super absorbent. I make sure I wake up at the same time every morning, eat my meals around the same time every day, and turn in for the night no later than 10:30 unless someone or something gives me a great reason to bend that rule. I don't drink hot milk with turmeric before bed because yuck, but I am consuming more hot water and ginger tea throughout the day than I have in my entire life. I don't see any reason why a few diet suggestions can't be modified.

And then there's a whole other exciting branch of ayurveda that I cannot wait to dig into even more: ayurvedic skin care. Just as various oils do wonders for the body and mind depending on your dosha, so can the ideal blend of essential oils for the skin. Mullein & Sparrow's Immortelle & Myrrh Facial Serum is heavenly — so nourishing, even on days when my skin feels parched. Many wellness beauty companies, such as Pratima Skincare, take all of the guesswork out of finding products suitable for your dosha by organizing products by dosha type.

It has only been a few weeks, and I am in no way an expert in Ayurveda. But here's what I find is happening: I haven't experienced any stomach upset since following a vata diet — not even minor gas (sorry, TMI, but I feel compelled to share). My sensitive skin hasn't experienced a single mysterious red splotch, even right before my period when it tends to be even drier. But the most wonderful aspect of following this diet is what I feel it is doing for my mental and emotional state: I am breathing at a slower pace. I freak out less over mishaps, both major and minor ones.

Granted, these changes could also be attributed to vigilantly following a daily meditation practice, and, sure, they could even be psychosomatic. But so what if they are? My body feels clean and is working in such a predictable manner that I'm hungry at the same time every day, my energy neither spikes nor dips but remains more or less constant, and, I swear, my cramps and headaches didn't make their usual appearance this month. I'm even sleeping more soundly at night.

Is ayurveda the miracle everyone needs to know about? Is it just common sense mixed in with a lot of mindful silence and listening to what the body craves and needs? I consider it a bit of both and am totally hooked.

Millet green goddess bowl hearty enough for a multitasking woman

I find the "bowl" trend kind of funny because I feel like I've been doing bowl meals since, um, forever? With my husband's work schedule, I eat a lot of dinners alone. That usually translates into cooking up incredibly random meals with whatever is sort of defrosted/dying in the fridge, making some rice or other grain and piling everything high into a bowl.

More: Gluten-free millet tabbouleh

Apparently, for once in my life, I'm in on the cool trend.

This millet green goddess bowl uses a funky, lesser-known grain and a whole bunch of superfood vegetables to create one delicious, vegetarian bowl dinner drizzled in a simple tahini-lemon dressing. Being on trend never tasted so good.

Millet green goddess bowl recipe

Serves 1 – 2

Total time: 20 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup uncooked millet
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 large garlic clove, minced
  • 3/4 cup frozen peas
  • 1/2 cup chopped asparagus
  • 2 cups baby kale leaves
  • 2 tablespoons tahini
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Directions:

  1. In a small saucepot over high heat, place the millet and water. Bring to a boil, and stir. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and let cook until all the liquid is absorbed, about 15 minutes. Fluff well after cooking.
  2. Meanwhile, into a skillet over medium heat, pour the olive oil. Once the oil is hot, add the garlic, and cook for 1 minute, until fragrant. Add the peas and asparagus, and cook for 3 – 4 minutes, until softened. Add the kale, toss to combine, and cook until wilted, about 1 minute. Turn off the heat, and set aside.
  3. Make the dressing by whisking together the tahini, lemon juice, honey, almond milk, salt and pepper.
  4. Assemble the bowls with the millet and greens, and then drizzle the tahini dressing on top before serving.

Being a mom is so much harder when you don't have your own mom anymore

$

It can take some time for anyone to figure out motherhood. After all, it's kind of a big deal, and there's a lot more to it than just trips to Target and endless amounts of coffee. For me, this was especially true.

My mom passed away from breast cancer when I was very young, about 9 years old. From that point on, I was raised by my Southern, military dad. My dad is a great guy, and he did an awesome job with the hand he was dealt, but that doesn't mean that there wasn't plenty of awkwardness for us to overcome, or that a single day passed when I didn't need my mom.

More: An unofficial list of the best TV moms on Netflix

I'm not the kind of person who likes to dwell in heartache. I don't say "what if" or dive into bottomless pits of Ben & Jerry's when I'm feeling down. When it came time for my Sweet 16 or my prom, or even the day that my husband and I were married, I didn't shed tears over her absence.

In fact, although I obviously miss her every day, rarely do I reach the point of tears when thinking about her being gone. A Sweet 16 is just a day, a prom is just a day, and a wedding is just a day. They're days marked by more pictures, and days that should be celebrated, but I'm waking up the very next day the same person I was the day before.

I held steadfastly to this logic for almost 20 years — right up until the day I found out that I was going to be a mom, and I finally realized how much I still needed my mom.

When I saw those two pink lines on the day that wasn't "just another day," I panicked. I'm thankful for what little time I had with my mom, but I didn't have enough, not by a long shot. The farthest milestone we reached in terms of big mother/daughter moments was when I wrote my crush's name down on my Doodle Bear and showed her. We never got to the chapter that talks about sex or relationships, and we certainly never touched the topic of motherhood.

I remember standing in that kitchen, panic-stricken, thinking to myself, "How will I ever figure out how to be a mom without my own here to tell me how?" Not only was I terrified, but for the first time in years, I was sad. That gaping hole in my heart that I had filled with laughter and happy memories was suddenly exposed again, revealing the deep and urgent need that I still had for my mother.

More: Here's how many people it takes to replace a single mom

For the nine months that followed, my face was buried within the pages of pregnancy books, blogs and message boards. I stumbled my way through that time, and if you asked anyone who knew me while I was pregnant, they'd likely tell you how horrible I was at it. In their defense, I was horrible. I had never felt more alone, more isolated, than when I was pregnant. I felt like no one understood how I was feeling, like I had no freaking clue what I was doing, and like I was just wandering lost in an abyss of nursery decor and breast pumps.

I needed my mom to hold my hair back while I threw up for five months. I needed her to help me register for my baby shower. I needed her to talk to me about contractions and breastfeeding and the importance of elastic waistbands. I needed her every hour of every day, but I didn't have her.

I spent the better part of my pregnancy throwing up and feeling sorry for myself. I was miserable during what should have been one of the happiest times of my life, until one day I found a box of old pictures. They were all from the '80s, shortly after my parents got married after my mom found out that she was pregnant. I flipped through all these pictures, laughing at my mom's hair in all of its feathered glory, smiling at her own contagious smile and remembering what a ray of light she was.

More: I wanted help with postpartum depression, but there was none to be found

It had slipped my mind that she had also gotten married and had a baby without her own mother's presence, but in every picture she was beaming. She lost her mom at a young age too, but that didn't prevent her from becoming the mom that I adored so much. She continued to love and laugh and smile every day despite her own losses.

And in that moment I knew that if she could do it, I could too.

I've now got two boys of my own, and as far as I can tell, my lack of a maternal guide hasn't yet ruined my ability to be a pretty OK mom. My boys are happy and healthy. They've got my mom's blue eyes and strawberry-blond hair, but my favorite thing about them is their laugh, because it's that same infectious laugh that my own mom had.

I wing pretty much every day of motherhood, like many moms do, but not a day goes by that I don't hear that perfect laugh. And that is how I know that, like her, I'm going to be just fine.

Kate Upton revealed the biggest and brightest accessory at the Met Gala: her brand new engagement ring. The actress showed up to the red carpet in a gorgeous single-sleeve shimmering gown, but everyone’s eyes went directly to her ring finger and its new rock!

The 23-year-old definitely knows how to make an entrance. Especially at an event known for show-stopping looks. Upton confirmed to E! News that Justin Verlander, the Detroit Tigers pitcher, popped the question right before baseball season started and that the couple has been keeping the news to themselves for quite some time. She said, “I’m really excited to finally be able to share it with the world!”

She and Verlander have been together for over three years, which she has joked is “forever in Hollywood, right?” So it shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone that they decided to start planning their forever together.

And just as they were in no rush to announce their engagement, the couple isn’t looking to rush down the aisle either. Upton said that for now, they’re happy “enjoying the engagement period.”

Who wouldn’t with a ring as beautiful as hers?

Verlander, who is 10 years older than Upton, has previously said that the two have a very normal relationship. Upton credits the fact that they focus on communication for their successful relationship. She also added, “We're very open with one another and we're each other's best friends. He's definitely my best friend, so I think that helps a lot."

It sounds like they are making all the right steps by taking their time, keeping their lines of communication open and honest, and, of course, having their unofficial engagement party be the 2016 Met Gala! Some girls have all the luck.

We wish the happy couple all the best! And I personally can’t wait to see what she picks as her wedding dress.

It's back on! Jessa Duggar confirms she and Ben are prepping to adopt

More: The story behind Jill Duggar's baby name is super cute

Let it never be said that Jessa Duggar is not tenacious. The new mom and star of Counting On has been talking about adopting another child with husband Ben Seewald for a while now, and it looks like the two are moving forward with their plans.

According to Jessa in an episode of Counting On earlier this season, the couple has been told they should wait until son Spurgeon is at least 9 months old before actively pursuing adoption, but that apparently isn't slowing Jessa or Ben down. They've already begun the paperwork, as well as made plans for a home study (an assessment of prospective adoptive parents to decide if they're suitable for adoption). The Seewalds had actually been making adoption plans; they even discussed it while courting, but shelved their plans when they learned they were about to be parents.

More: Jessa Duggar's new gig is making a lot of women unhappy

Jill Duggar's Instagram is cluttered with fans speculating that she's pregnant with her second child. The idea is rife with controversy, considering that Jill and husband Derick Dillard are currently living in Central America, where the Zika virus is wreaking havoc, especially for pregnant women. Neither Jessa nor Jill has been specific about the number of children they want — Jessa has said that she and Ben would welcome any amount of children God brought them, "whether that be just one or whether it be more, we'll be grateful." Ben Seewald has "joked" (is he really joking, though?) about wanting 15 sons, but Jessa imagines a coed brood.

Jill and Derick have also mentioned adopting, potentially from Central America, so they could return from their mission trip with baby No.2. Since their son Israel is over the 9-month mark, there's nothing to stop them from bringing another child home with them. Is there a competition between Jill and Jessa to see who can have a second kid? I have many questions about how either of them isn't already pregnant again, seeing as the Duggars and their ilk actively eschew birth control, but that's a question for another time or maybe for the Counting On producers next season.

It’s official! Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom confirmed their relationship on the red carpet of the 2016 Met Gala. You may be thinking they walked together, shared some PDA for the cameras, but nope! They wore matching Tamagotchis to show the world that they are officially together.

Who needs Facebook official when you have Tamagotchi official?

The theme of the night was to show off the way technology and fashion work together, but mostly the pair wearing their Tamagotchis confirmed that they belong together.

Perry and Bloom have been spotted together nearly everywhere — from Coachella to Runyon Canyon, but they have yet to talk openly about their relationship. It seems like they may finally be ready to open up about their romance. Or at least about what it takes to keep a digital pet alive. Which I am also interested in.

More: Katy Perry, Orlando Bloom spotted out twice together this weekend

The speculation about the couple started early this year and has only gotten stronger as the two were spotted together more and more often. Even though they didn’t arrive to the Met Gala together, it will be interesting to see if they leave the night together.

I say anyone who is a champion of the '90s deserves a round of applause and some kind of couple of the week award, at least.

What do you think? Do the Tamagotchis confirm the new couple? Or is it just a coincidence?

Enough with slut-shaming Kathryn Dennis, Southern Charm fans

More: Hey, Thomas Ravenel, maybe don't make jokes about assaulting women

Let's get this out of the way right now: I have had a soft spot for Kathryn Dennis since Season 1 of Southern Charm, and no, I don't know what that's about. It's only gotten worse this season, as basically everyone on the show and in the Twitter universe has turned against her. There are those who think she's a gold digger, those who think she's crazy and those who think she's manipulating Thomas. Oh, wait, those are actually all the same group. And then, to make it all extra charming, there are the slut-shamers, because apparently everyone wins with slut-shaming, except, of course, the person being shamed.

Slut-shaming isn't a new phenomenon on Southern Charm, but it is one that's been primarily reserved for Kathryn and it's been going on since Season 1, when Kathryn and Thomas first got together and it came out that she had also hooked up with Whitney and Shep. It's a problem to even be creating a list of people Kathryn's hooked up with, especially when I'm sure that Thomas, Whitney, Craig and Shep have high individual numbers, but they're never told to be ashamed of that and are never reprimanded for liking sex or pursuing it. Kathryn, on the other hand, is told to "keep her legs closed" (I'm looking at you, Southern Charm fans on Twitter) and that she should only be concerned with taking care of her kids, as if mothers aren't multifaceted humans who have an instinctive need for contact with humans over the age of 2. At the same time, everyone is marveling at the apparent miracle that is Kathryn getting herself pregnant twice, which allows pretty much the whole Southern Charm cast (except for a few people) to view Thomas as a reasonable human being and edit out all the times he's behaved like a monster garbage human.

Slut-shaming is nefarious, not just because it reprimands and humiliates women for having had sex but also because they're not ashamed of having had sex. There's a lot people don't like about Kathryn Dennis and, unfortunately, you can boil most of that down to her not being ashamed of herself just because people want her to be and because it would make them feel better about her.
