Grey's Anatomy: Japril is toying with my emotions, I'm sure of it

$

It's been such a long and winding road for Grey's Anatomy's April and Jackson thus far this season, and it looks like Japril shippers won't be able to enjoy tonight's warm and fuzzy feelings for long.

But first, let's do a brief recap, shall we? Last season, we were emotionally gutted when the couple watched their first child fade from this world in their arms. Shortly after, their marriage imploded. This season, we watched a poignant and — let's be real — heartbreaking episode that paid homage to their journey to this point.

More: Why Grey's Anatomy's Japril episode worked despite all the weirdness

This point, of course, being a newly divorced couple who learned of their surprise pregnancy the day their marriage was officially dissolved. Well, April did at least. Jackson found out a bit later, which led to a whole new round of drama.

Over the last few weeks, though, something miraculous has happened: April and Jackson have called a cease fire. They're figuring this out together as they go along. And when Jackson very obviously wanted to comfort April on tonight's episode during a tense ultrasound moment, it was as though all the world was right once more and Japril was on the road to recovery.

Even Sarah Drew herself, who plays April, seems hopeful about the former couple's future.

"I think there's potential for healing with this new baby," she told The TV Junkies. "And hopefully everything goes smoothly with that, we never know, it is Grey's Anatomy after all. But I think that the fact that she emerged from the divorce pregnant with his child is a glimmer of hope for them. So we'll see how it all plays out. But I don't think it's the end of their story."

More: Grey's Anatomy: It's time for Jackson to just give it a rest already

Hold up. I'm getting the distinct feeling of deja vu. Oh, yes, that's right. We've been on this roller coaster before!

Every time Japril fans start to believe there could be a spark rekindling between these two, it gets smothered out right before our eyes. We're onto you, Shonda Rhimes, and we won't be such unwitting participants in the emotional yo-yoing this time.

For starters, in another interview Drew hints at more strife in the Japril realm before the season ends. "There's extreme drama that happens with April and Jackson in the finale," she revealed to eTalk. "I can also tell you April gets to be incredibly badass and strong and 2.0 all over he place, so that's been fun."

Hmm, very intriguing. What kind of extreme drama are we talking here? Is the baby in danger? That seems unlikely, since Drew says April gets to be a badass. Ooh, maybe Jackson is in danger and April saves his life. Surely that would open the door to reconciliation, eh?

Of course, real life doesn't always have the kind of happily ever after we hope for — and the Grey's Anatomy version of real life definitely doesn't always give us the ending we want. (Hello, McDreamy!)

More: I stand with Grey's Anatomy's powerful position against firearms in the home

Drew is realistic about this, saying, "I love them together. They've been through such an epic story and they've weathered so many extreme things that it just feels like it would be such a waste if they didn't wind up together... if there wasn't some beautiful reunion and reconciliation. You want to make all that pain worth it. But sometimes that's not how life works."

Ugh, don't we know it. And I can't help feeling like the rug is about to be pulled out from beneath Japril fans' feet once again.

What do you think? Are Jackson and April headed for more heartbreak?

American Grit failed at its willpower challenge objective

In the first two weeks of American Grit, competitors chosen for the weekly Circus were put through some incredibly grueling challenges. Some — including the amazing Brooke Van Paris — went above and beyond, while others — such as early reality show villain Chris Krueger — proved that the show is more about mental toughness than physical stamina. Or is it? Tonight's challenge was a bit of a letdown, in part because it didn't really seem to test the contestants' grit, as had been promised earlier in the episode.

American Grit Balance
Image: Fox

Typically, the Circus involves a long and difficult obstacle course, followed by an especially taxing final challenge. During the first week, the three selected contestants had to hold sandbags attached to rope pulleys. Last week, the challenge was even tougher, with contestants rotating sets of burpees with a more hardcore version of the Ice Bucket Challenge.

More: American Grit has one of reality TV's most satisfying eliminations

This week's challenge paled in comparison: Stand on a peg and, when given the signal, move up to a narrower peg. Yes, there was some excitement involved whenever the contestants had to move on to a new, more difficult peg, but ultimately, the results had little to do with who could physically and mentally persevere. Thus, it was very anticlimactic to see Marc Lobliner topple over. He demonstrated just as much grit as the others, but ultimately just didn't have good enough balance for this particular challenge.

Until this week, viewers were loving American Grit's Circus challenges. While many were still captivated by the latest Circus, a few spoke out against its disappointing final challenge.

American Balance?

American Balance?

Disappointed by American Grit

Disappointed by American Grit

The goal of the American Grit Circus is ostensibly to determine who is the toughest. A good sense of balance is definitely valuable, but the toughest competitor of all could easily fall over while standing on a narrow peg. There is no shame in Marc Lobliner's loss today, but it's sad to see him exit the competition in such an uneventful manner. Earlier in the episode, pretty much everybody agreed that they'd prefer to go out fighting like Brooke Van Paris, but Lobliner didn't get that opportunity.

Chill, people! Kourtney Kardashian probably didn't dye Mason's hair

Kris Jenner is a proud mother and grandparent who loves to brag about her family on social media, but her latest Instagram post about Kourtney Kardashian's son Mason has the internet seriously confused, even though it totally shouldn't.

More: I'm not a Kardashian-Jenner fan, but they've actually made a positive impact

Kris posted an overhead shot of Mason coloring on Instagram with the caption, "My boo's a creative genius #mason #grandparentsday #grandson #love #proudgrandma #lovie."

However, the Mason we've seen on countless episodes of Keeping Up with the Kardashians has brown hair, not black hair like the child in the photo.

More: Scott Disick reveals if there's any hope of a reconciliation with Kourtney

Fans were left confused and wondering, did Kourtney dye Mason's hair? Kourtney also posted a photo of Mason on her Instagram account just two weeks ago where his hair appears black and fans left similar comments.

kourtney kardashian instagram embed photo of sons mason

Before you freak out and call Kourtney a terrible mother, just hang on. We did our research and have evidence that we believe proves Kourtney did not dye Mason's hair.

Many Instagram users think the darker appearance of Mason's hair is just because he finally got a haircut, saying they cut off all his light brown hair that had been highlighted by the sun.

"Mason's grown out hair was highlighted by the sun until Kourtney CUT IT ALL OFF. So it's naturally dark," said @ms.angry1994.

"People! It's normal for a kids hair to go from blonde to dark! It happens all the time even in my family! They are Armenian and it was only time before they will get that Kardashian hair," said @alyssaeskander.

"I doubt Kourt would dye her son's hair! Kourt is so into her natural organic ways, why would she put chemicals in her sons hair? When young kids spend time in the sun, pool with chlorine and the beach, your hair will eventually go lighter. By her cutting it short, it's going back to his natural dark color," said @ritap81.

More: Kim Kardashian actually face-swapped with her own face — more than once

Honestly, we have to agree with this theory that the darker appearance of Mason's hair is just because he got it cut. As you can see, Mason's roots look dark in the photo below of Kourtney and her son taken during November 2015.

So, did Kourtney dye Mason's hair? Has Kris finally lost her mind? We're going to have to say no to both of those crazy questions.

OITNB's Poussey guest starring on The Catch has me fangirling to the extreme

$

0

Confession: I'm not much of a fan of procedurals. I don't typically watch legal or medical dramas, and when I do tune into Grey's Anatomy, it's never for the cases of the week. Grey's, like every Shondaland show, has procedural elements that are relegated to B plots, rarely requiring much thought or investment from the audience. I like it that way.

The Catch is no different and I have found myself struggling to care about any of the clients so far. Their drama is never anywhere near as compelling as Alice's and it's not like these characters will ever be around for more than a week, so why bother getting attached?

Turns out, all I needed was a little Poussey.

More: The Catch: Alice is sleeping with Benjamin again... and I don't care

That's right. This week on The Catch, the client of the week was none other than Samira Wiley, aka Orange Is the New Black's Poussey, aka Nia, the army soldier-turned-ranger who hires Anderson Vaughan and Associates when she begins to receive misogynist death threats. Turns out, her own colleagues (including her brother) didn't think having a female ranger around was a good idea and they thought it would be better to scare her away rather than have her die in the field without any of the men having her back. But spoiler: With Alice's encouragement, Nia stands up to them all and fights for her right to remain a ranger. Did you think Samira Wiley would play any other kind of character?

No, this is Poussey we're talking about, and you can believe I was fully invested in her story this entire episode. Hell, I didn't care one bit about what was happening with Alice or Benjamin or Dao this week — if Poussey is on my screen, I really don't see how anyone else matters. And I wasn't let down, because whether she's an inmate in Litchfield or a military fighter, Samira Wiley's fierceness is unbeatable.

More: The Catch: I'm convinced Ben's hold on Alice is bordering on abuse

Believe it or not, this story gets juicier. OITNB fans have long been wanting to see Poussey get some of the sexual satisfaction that Piper, Alex, Nicky and the others have long enjoyed. She spends so much time pining after Taystee, but we never get to see her having trysts with other inmates or even engaging in mutual flirtations. It's hard to see all the other women get their fun while Poussey stands on the sidelines.

Which is yet another reason why this episode of The Catch was such a delight. Nia and Danny, one of Alice's associates, had clear chemistry from the start of the episode. Their flirtations grew stronger — and more adorable — over the course of the episode. And finally, we see Danny getting a phone call from work early in the morning... and we realize that he is still in bed with Nia!

At last! Some steamy and sexy screen time for Poussey. Now, naturally, ABC is a bit tamer than Netflix, so there wasn't much to see. But the implications were clear and it was a moment guaranteed to warm the hearts of any longtime OITNB viewer.

More: The Catch: Why Benjamin's weird love triangle means danger for Alice

Nia's unlikely to be back next Thursday — as with all the clients of the week on The Catch, her case was closed by the end of the hour. And even if she stuck around, she and Danny wouldn't last; he's got his heart set on Sophie and their sexual tension is only heating up. But that's OK by me. I'm just grateful that Samira Wiley graced our television screens at all tonight, making me excited for OITNB's return and the potential for Poussey's arc this season. Like Nia, Poussey's a fighter who's not going to give up easy and I can't wait to see what's in store for her.

Don't forget to tune in for The Catch every Thursday at 10/9c on ABC!

Scandal's Abby and Fitz hooking up would be annoying, but I'm OK with it

$

Never in a million years did I think Abby and Fitz would hook up on Scandal — let alone that I would be OK with it — until tonight.

More: I hate that Scandal's Olivia and Jake are bumping uglies again

That moment when she was throwing her attitude at him went from being ballsy feminist to personal real quick. And I couldn't believe I didn't see it before. Those two are totally on their way to some uncomfortable feelings.

I mean, Abby's clearly got them going on already, what with the way she's challenging Fitz so boldly. It's not just office business any more. It's definitely gotten personal.

And there's only so much time once things get personal until the personal turns into the romantic when it comes to attractive, single men and women.

Plus, the show is already setting up this scandalous frenemies situation with Olivia. It would be even more outrageous if Abby were to find herself naked in Fitz's bed.

I know, I know, the Abby of any season past would not have crossed that line. There is no way that Abby, best friend of Olivia (Kerry Washington), would stomp into that territory. But Abby is playing the power card right now and Fitz is embracing it more than anyone.

More: 12 ways the Scandal presidential candidates are better than the real ones

He's letting Abby get away with talking to him like a boss and I've loved that dynamic the entire season. I always just thought it was about women's empowerment, though, and tonight it dawned on me that show creator Shonda Rhimes probably has a whole different story line coming into play with their steadily building relationship.

Part of me hopes that they won't ever actually hook up. Maybe they'll get close and Abby will come to her senses and direct him back to his love with Liv. But this show is called Scandal for a reason. They be happenin'. So I wouldn't put it past the show to get that irrevocably complicated.

And I kind of think Olivia deserves to lose Fitz for good in that way. She's been so back and forth between Jake and Fitz for so long now. The fact that she's back on the Jake train makes me sick to my stomach. I definitely thought that those shared nightcaps with Fitz a few episodes back were going to turn into something more.

More: Scandal characters who could take over Fitz's presidency

In my heart of hearts, I'm still rooting for Olivia and Fitz. But I really think that Abby and Fitz might be the perfect couple we never saw coming.

Do you think Fitz and Abby would make more than just a good team?

After this toddler's tragic death, should kids see naturopaths?

$

When do your counter-culture personal beliefs about health and wellness infringe on your child's right to basic health care? The legal position on that question has become a little more clear for Canadians, as an Alberta jury just found parents David and Collet Stephan guilty of failing to provide their child with the "necessaries of life." Their son Ezekiel died tragically of meningitis in 2012 after they attempted to heal him with homeopathic remedies.

More: Jessica Alba blasted for yet another unsafe baby product — yes again

When Ezekiel began showing symptoms, developing a fever and runny nose, his parents began treating him with various natural treatments they found online. They tried smoothie concoctions with ingredients like horseradish, ginger root and apple cider vinegar. As symptoms persisted, Collet's friend and birth attendant — who is a registered nurse — suggested that the child could have meningitis. But rather than take him to see a doctor, the parents took Ezekiel to see a naturopath. His body was so stiff at this point that they had to lay him on a mattress in the back of their car to get him there. After more failed natural treatments at home, Ezekiel stopped breathing. When the couple dialed 911 to get their son to a hospital, it was too late.

“He was blue by the time we met up with the ambulance,” Collet told police.

The Stephans' court case raises important concerns: When are parents risking a child's life by putting their faith in naturopathy? If you choose to incorporate naturopathy in your life, here's what you need to be aware of:

  • A visit to a naturopath should complement — not replace — regular visits to a medical doctor. “Alternative practitioners shouldn’t be your go-to primary care physician,” Tim Caulfield, the Canada Research Chair in Health Law and Policy at the University of Alberta, told Vice's Motherboard.
  • Beware of claims that aren't backed by science. For instance, naturopathic doctors sometimes make claims to be able to "detox" the organs from heavy metals and toxins which scientific research has proven is a myth.
  • Whatever you do, don't fall for nonsense about "homeopathic vaccine alternatives." The Canadian Pediatric Society warns consumers against the dangerous trend of using what are called "nosodes" — preparations made from diluted bacteria or viruses, which can come from sterilized feces or pus, as vaccine alternatives. It's not just gross — it's a huge public safety concern as fringe groups of parents are failing to properly vaccinate their children, making them vulnerable to preventable diseases.
  • There are times when you absolutely need to call a medical doctor — not a naturopath. Dr. Kathryn Emery, an ER physician at the Children's Hospital at the University of Colorado, tells Parenting Magazine that parents need to call the doctor when a child has the following: a persistent fever; abdominal pain that could signal appendix issues; lingering swelling after a fall; "unexplained poor food intake with fever for two days or decreased urine for one day (or both)"; difficulty swallowing; a headache that presents with vomiting or fever; and alarming rashes you can't explain. Ultimately, she stresses: "Trust your gut and call."

Following Ezekiel's death, there have been heated debates about whether it's even ethical to take your child to see a naturopath in the first place. Juliet Guichon, a University of Calgary bioethicist and lawyer, doesn't think it is. Guichon tells the National Post that because children can't consent to seeing naturopaths, it's unethical to push your beliefs in naturopathy on children. “If (children) are not mature enough yet to say, ‘Mum, I’m not going to that quack, I need to go to a doctor,’ then there could be an argument for a legal restriction to protect children,” she explains.

That being said, many people have found naturopaths to be an excellent resource when it comes to helping you manage chronic conditions that they haven't had luck treating with conventional medicine, such as anxiety or IBS. There are relatively harmless naturopathic treatments you can embrace, such as aromatherapy or the use of probiotics to complement your child's health care plan if you choose to embrace elements of naturopathy — just make sure you don't cut conventional doctors out of the equation.

The only humane way to see whales is swimming free in the ocean, not in captivity. Nova Scotia is almost completely surrounded by the Atlantic, which means there are plenty of opportunities for whale watching. And everyone loves a province with a good sense of humor! Last year they put up a giant billboard in my hometown promoting the whales in their region. It read, “We heard you have an aquarium. That’s nice,” with a photo of a whale swimming free in the Atlantic Ocean.

Candace Cameron Bure's brother has seriously problematic views on marriage

$

0

When someone posts a ridiculous, problematic status on Facebook, you can roll your eyes and unfriend them. When celebrities say something problematic, well, the whole world is forced to listen. Candace Cameron Bure's older brother and former Growing Pains star Kirk Cameron is no stranger to controversial comments, but his new interview with The Christian Post is definitely an eyebrow-raiser. Cameron's advice on how to keep a marriage together could end up hurting both women and men, and it's definitely not the instructions you should be following in your love life.

Cameron is the head speaker on the Love Worth Fighting For national marriage tour, where he discusses how following the teachings of Christianity can help heal broken homes. Personally, I find that just a little too simple, but hey — you do you, Kirk. The problem that I have with Cameron's teaching has little to do with religion and a lot more to do with this statement that he made to The Christian Post

"Wives are to honor and respect and follow their husband's lead, not to tell their husband how he ought to be a better husband... When each person gets their part right, regardless of how their spouse is treating them, there is hope for real change in their marriage."

Though Cameron did state earlier in the interview that husbands shouldn't tell their wives to submit to them, the insistence that wives "follow their husband's lead" is just another fancy way of telling women that they are subservient to men. Clearly, Cameron has some messed-up views on how women in 2016 should operate. Last time I checked, a marriage is an equal partnership, and in a heterosexual relationship, women make up exactly half of that partnership. (Oh, and in case you're wondering, Cameron isn't talking about gay marriage here, because he considers it "unnatural." Ugh.)

More: Candace Cameron Bure gets real about what keeps her marriage alive

The other concerning part of his statement is that a person should "get their part right" in a marriage no matter how their spouse is treating them. No one is denying that marriage takes work, but what Cameron is ignoring is that there are plenty of reasons why someone should stop trying. The first thing that comes to mind is physical or emotional abuse — someone could be the very best wife or husband, and that won't stop an abuser from hurting them. Life is not Beauty and the Beast; while patience and understanding are vital parts to a marriage, there's no reason to stick around a husband or wife who is cruel, abusive or destructive.

More: Candace Cameron Bure slammed over skimpy dress on Fuller House (PHOTO)

Cameron clearly means well — he's trying to rid the world of broken homes — but overall, his views on marriage are disturbing. You won't find me in the audience on his Love Worth Fighting For tour.

Are Kirk Cameron's views on marriage valid? Sound off in the comments.

A baby monitor set this mom up for being stalked by a pervert

$

Smart home accessories are supposed to make our lives easier. That's especially true for the various gadgets and gizmos we use in our efforts to make parenting run a little more smoothly, like video monitors that allow you to peep in on your sleeping child without waking them up.

For one woman in Michigan, though, the very device she'd installed to help keep her family safe was the very thing that allowed a predator to spy on her while she nursed her infant son in the nude, according to a lawsuit she filed.

More: My dying mom made the ultimate sacrifice to make my childhood happier

Megan Pearce is a dispatcher with the Warren Police Department in Hazel Park, Michigan, which is part of what made the realization that a police officer might very well be doing the spying so shocking for her. Pearce uses the Nest Cam baby monitor, the video stream of which can be sent to and checked on a smart device. When the stream is being actively viewed, a little green light on the camera in the nursery will flick on.

Pearce says that only three devices had permission to view the feed: her iPhone, her boyfriend's iPhone and her iPad. She wasn't using either of hers, her fiancé's was supposed to be in an evidence locker after he was arrested on a marijuana charge, and he himself was sitting in jail. So Pearce was rightfully shocked and confused when the Nest Cam's green light flickered on when she was busy nursing her son — completely nude, since part of her routine is to bathe with the baby. When she used the Find My iPhone feature on her own phone to locate her fiancé's, it pinged to a police officer's house: Michael Emmi, part of the team that executed a search warrant on the couple's home during Pearce's fiancé's arrest.

More: Dad faces police investigation for confronting his kids' bullies

Despite the fact that the phone used to access the Nest Cam's stream is not where it's supposed to be (it was never logged in to evidence) and the fact that Pearce "found" the iPhone at Emmi's house, the Hazel Park Police Department has said it won't be investigating the officer, forcing Pearce to file a lawsuit to try to hold him accountable.

There's a lot that's messed up about this story. If Pearce's allegations are correct, then Emmi abused his power as a police officer to break the law by spying on her without any kind of consent. It's hideous that the police won't even consider investigating this officer, and it's incredibly worrying that if you were to lose your phone or have it stolen, a person could easily use linked smart devices to peep on you and your family by twisting the devices you have in place for your own safety.

More: A sperm bank is in a whole lotta trouble over the race of one of its donors

Smart technology can be an incredible thing, and it can be particularly useful for busy parents. But it's also clear that there are a lot of safety concerns that need to be resolved. When something like the Nest Cam can be easily used against you in such a horrifying way, we have to start asking ourselves if the small conveniences and peace of mind it's supposed to offer are completely worth it.

Pearce should absolutely be able to use any device or strategy she wants to monitor her child's safety and well-being. All parents should, and it isn't their fault when people hack or steal them with malicious intent. But it has happened, and it keeps happening. Video monitors that have internet connectivity are vulnerable, and stories like this one remind us that there's so much more work to be done when it comes to locking down the security of devices like this so that only the people who are intended to use them can.

While the chances of your own monitor being hacked are very slim, if you find it as worrying as we do, maybe you'll want to consider walking the technology back a little and using an audio-only monitor or the most old-fashioned monitor of all — your own ears and eyes.

"The most challenging part of the role has been gathering all the history and relationships Thomas has had with people on the show." he explains. "It’s important to stay true to the script within those barriers while at the same time making Thomas my own."

His first day on set was his favorite moment this year because he "had no idea what to expect and everyone was super welcoming."

While the B&B cast embraced him with open arms, he also reveals that the whole cast is hilarious, but watch out for Darin Brooks because he is "the biggest prankster." Even though the actors have fun on the set, the job is one Fodé takes very seriously.

"The biggest misconception on soaps is that our job is easy," he says. "Having had a fairly diverse film background, I can say this is the most challenging job I've done."

Fodé is also ready to see his character develop on different levels in the coming year without Thomas losing his rebel-without-a-cause attitude.

"I’d like to see him in a new light; stepping into fatherhood and learning to deal with his feelings for women in general in a healthy way… but still being a bit of a rogue," Fodé shares.

That edginess in his portrayal is what helped garner his first nomination for a Daytime Emmy. It’s a moment he is truly relishing.

"The nomination has meant more than anything," he says. "It's been a huge blessing to get recognized for years of hard work and being relentless in achieving my dreams."

No matter what happens at the Daytime Emmys on Sunday, Fodé has one big goal on his bucket list.

"Climb to the top of Everest,” he says.

We have rounded up the cutest, sweetest and most hilarious celebrity mom photos on social media this week, including new moms Chrissy Teigen and Kelly Clarkson, who both shared photos of their newborn babies. Kelly Ripa posted a must-see snapshot with her son Michael, while The Blacklist star Megan Boone shared a photo of her baby girl, Caroline. Jessica Biel, Drew Barrymore and Reese Witherspoon round out our list of the most buzzworthy celebrity moms of the week.

Chrissy Teigen

Chrissy Teigen

Since giving birth to her daughter Luna Simone one week ago, Chrissy Teigen has had so much fun sharing photos of her adorable baby girl.

Teigen made the announcement on Instagram by sharing a photo at the hospital and writing, “She's here! Luna Simone Stephens, we are so in love with you! And sleepy. Very sleepy.”

Since then, she has opened up about wearing diapers after birth and has navigated the not-so-fun world of judgmental moms with ease (and hilarious snarky comebacks) after enjoying a date night with her husband, John Legend. We think she already has this whole parenting thing nailed down.

Kelly Clarkson

Kelly Clarkson shared the sweetest photo as she kisses her newborn son, Remington or “Remy” as she calls him. The singer and her husband, Brandon Blackstock, also have a daughter together named River. Clarkson shared another photo which featured all of the kids, including Blackstock’s two children, Seth and Savannah, from a previous relationship.

Moving from one Kelly to the next, talk show host Kelly Ripa posted this fun photo after she and her son, 18-year-old Michael, ran a 10K race together. Ripa, who has been in the news lately after her co-host Michael Strahan announced he was leaving their show, joked in the caption that “one of us won” and the other “didn’t die.” Fans couldn't help but notice that Michael looks just like his father, Mark Consuelos. Kelly and Mark also have a 12-year-old son named Joaquin and a 14-year-old daughter named Lola.

Drew Barrymore

Drew Barrymore wished her daughter, Frankie, a happy second birthday by sharing this sweet snapshot of her picking flowers wearing only her diaper. Barrymore and her estranged husband, Will Kopelman, also have a daughter named Olive together. The actress surprised fans when she recently announced they were getting a divorce after four years of marriage.

I don't really care that Real Housewives producers stage storylines

So, surprise! The Real Housewives shows aren't so real.

And I'm not just talking about all the plastic surgery.

More: RHOBH's Lisa Vanderpump takes to her Bravo blog to reveal a sincere regret

Former The Real Housewives of New York star Aviva Drescher decided to take to Twitter to throw some shade at the show for setting up certain scandals.

The example she gives is the infamous #bookgate scandal she was involved in. Drescher began a feud with fellow Housewife Carole Radziwill when she accused Radziwill of secretly using a ghostwriter to write her memoir What Remains. Drescher even had suggested names for the ghostwriter's identity, though she wouldn't reveal at the time where she got the information.

More: Kyle Richards is so not OK with Brandi Glanville's "insensitive" T-shirts

Now, she's saying all the gossip about a ghostwriter came directly from producers.

The Real Housewives shows are already so over-the-top and out there that it shouldn't come as a surprise to learn that a lot of the scenes between the women are setups.

Is that going to make me or the rest of the world stop watching the drama? Absolutely not.

Here's the thing: Drescher says she was "encouraged" to do storylines. She wasn't forced into them. She still made the decision to be in on the drama. She still decided to use the gossip against Radziwill. She isn't saying she was fed lines or that it was all acting, which means the emotions are still real. And the way the women respond to their emotions is also real. And that's what makes the show juicy and interesting.

Are you surprised by Drescher's confession that producers feed the Housewives storylines?

Ah, Kelly Ripa, your divorce dig at Michael Strahan was unnecessary

Passive-aggressive much?

More: Let's talk about Kelly Ripa's so-called immature, diva behavior

Kelly Ripa clearly still hasn't forgiven Michael Strahan for blindsiding her with news of his exit from hosting Live! with her. Only now, she's taking it out on him in a much more subtle way.

During the opener for their Friday show, she took a clear dig at Strahan, asking for his opinion on something that's clearly a sore subject: his divorces.

"There’s a great article in the paper and I want to get your take on it because I don’t have a take on it," Ripa said enthusiastically. "But I want yours. So you’ve gotten divorced..."

As soon as the words were out of her mouth, Strahan made a face like he was clearly shocked and annoyed, then quickly tried to cover it up.

More: Kelly Ripa is so not ready to kiss and make up with Michael Strahan

Strahan has been divorced twice — he was married to Wanda Hutchins from 1992 to 1996, and Jean Muggli from 1999 until they had a long, bitter, painful divorce in 2006. The details of their ugly split were very public, so it comes as no surprise that Strahan was taken aback that Ripa would bring it up so casually on their show.

Meanwhile, Ripa just celebrated her 20th anniversary with her husband, Mark Consuelos.

Strahan announced last week that he intends to leave Live! next month before he starts a full-time hosting gig on Good Morning America in the fall. Ripa reportedly found out about his departure at the same time the news was made public. After the blindside, she took several days off from appearing on Live! and reports say she was deeply upset with both Strahan and the network.

More: Kelly Ripa tried to address the drama — but I really think she avoided the whole thing

Do you think Kelly Ripa is right to be upset with Michael Strahan?

I was a reluctant wing-mate when my brother dragged me across the main deck to hit on a girl, until I noticed her brother, a striking guy offering me a cigarette. It was New Year’s Eve and we were on a Caribbean cruise. Next thing I knew, Pete and I were smoking as we watched our siblings wander through the tables, picking up and draining abandoned glasses of Champagne.

I had casually mentioned my boyfriend, just to set the right expectations, but we spent the last three nights of the cruise together. Nothing happened. I knew I was doing the right thing, but when we parted with an awkward platonic hug and the swapping of email addresses, I wished I had never mentioned the boyfriend.

I returned to my final semester at college and to a message from Pete. In our online chats we bonded over fears of graduation and facing real life. I kept him a secret, which intensified the intimacy. I also didn’t tell Pete anything more about the boyfriend, the guy I had once thought was the one. With real life looming, I had to face that we were on different paths, and had been for a while. It was a painful truth that I happily forgot about during the moments I basked in Pete’s electronic attention.

More: People cheat all the time and that's not going to change

He wanted to come see me. It was only an eight-hour drive from his school to mine, he hinted. So when my boyfriend announced that he was going out of town for a guys’ weekend, I told Pete to come visit.

First he said yes. Then it turned to maybe. Then I didn’t hear from him for a few days.

When he finally wrote again, he told me he’d liked me since the moment we met. Months of email had made him like me more. I’d never experienced such an honest emotional outpouring from a guy. He needed to know if I still had a boyfriend.

I told him I did, but things weren’t going well. I didn’t have a good answer when Pete asked why I didn’t break up with him.

“Just come. I want to see you.”

“I want to see you too,” he said. “But I don’t think I should.”

Maybe it wasn’t fair to blame Pete for staying far away from my hot mess, but I did anyway. I wanted a romantic rescue, an easy out. If Pete wasn’t willing to give me that, he didn’t deserve my time. My replies to his emails became curt and eventually dropped off altogether. I graduated, closed my college account and lost all contact.

As I settled into my single life in New York, I was curious about where Pete ended up. I tried Google, but didn’t get very far since I couldn’t remember his last name.

As my experience with men grew, I finally appreciated how rare it was to find a man so willing to take a chance by revealing his feelings. I also appreciated the emotional intelligence it took to stay away. Time passed and I feared I would go the rest of my life without ever meeting another man capable of that honesty. I wanted to find him but even Facebook couldn’t crack the Pete puzzle.

More: I didn't get a storybook proposal and that's OK

When the men I dated showed their flaws, I took solace that Pete was out there. I nursed a fantasy of running into him, telling myself that every business major east of the Mississippi had to end up in NYC. I’d see him again smoking on a street corner and we’d get a drink. I’d tell him I remembered every detail of those three nights sailing around the Caribbean. My greatest life regret was that I let my college boyfriend, destined to be part of my past, ruin what should’ve been the perfect chance meeting. Our second encounter, I told myself, would be the real romantic story, the one we’d tell the grandkids.

When no amount of searching yielded a single concrete detail, I started to make them up, until I finally had to admit that Pete had become mostly fiction. We never even shared a real first kiss. If something had happened on the main deck under the Caribbean stars, I might have never heard from him again. I doubt it, but I’ll never know. One thing I know for sure is that he wouldn’t have turned out perfect. No one is.

The regret started to fade. I realized I may have learned more from Pete by never really having him. Don’t waste time or opportunity on a relationship once you know it’s over. Just end it. Connect on social media; that’s what it’s there for. Be bold when you have the chance. And never, ever let a nice guy slip away.

Sweet baby names for girls straight from Sweden

Swedish baby names for girls are a combination of old favorites we're familiar with and Nordic beauties that are perfect for parents looking for something a bit different for their little girl.

MoreBeautiful British baby names for girls

You'll find several familiar names among these first 50 listed here — these are the top names bestowed upon babies in Sweden in 2015, and it looks like some names that are popular in the U.S. are also popular there. Molly, for example, came in at No. 122 in the U.S. in 2014, and it makes a strong showing in the top 15 in Sweden. Other perennial faves such as Olivia, Emma and Sofia are also tops with Swedish parents.

The names may not be all completely familiar, though. Elsa, of course, is very well known thanks to a little film called Frozen, but how many little girls do you know called Maja or Ebba? These amazing names aren't heard much in American hospital nurseries, which makes them excellent choices if you're hunting for something with a Nordic sound. Nova, Juni and Tuva are other great names to check out, but don't stop there — we're just getting started.

Here are a few more names that have distinct Swedish origins, whether they're Swedish versions of other names or they come from older languages that used to be spoken in the area. These may not occupy the top spots for Swedish parents, but are still amazing choices for moms and dads who may be looking for something a little more unique, or with a Scandinavian flair.

  • Aina: this is a variation of the Finnish name Aino
  • Birgitta: this is likely a Scandinavian form of the name Bridget, which is itself the English version of the Irish name Brighid
  • Dagmar: this comes from the Old Norse name Dagmær
  • Eleonor: this is the Swedish version of Eleanor
  • Flippa: this cute name is the Swedish feminine form of Philip
  • Hedvig: this is the Scandinavian form of the German name Hedwig
  • Hillevi: this name is the Swedish and Finnish form of the German name Heilwig
  • Kaja: this is a Scandinavian form of the name Katarina
  • Kjerstin: this is the Swedish and Norwegian form of Christina
  • Lis: this is a short form of the name Elisabet
  • Malin: the Scandinavian short form of Magdalene
  • Rakel: this is the Scandinavian form of the classic name Rachel
  • Sif: in Norse mythology, Siv was the wife of Thor
  • Vilma: this is another form of the name Wilma

All signs point to a fresh start for Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green

Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green are fast becoming Hollywood's most-watched celebrity parents. After five years of marriage, they filed for divorce last August. We all thought that was that, until the couple announced this month that Fox is expecting a third child — and paparazzi caught them canoodling on the beaches of Hawaii earlier this week. Perhaps pregnancy is bringing out warm emotions in Fox toward Green.

If there's one thing we've learned about Fox, it's that she likes to share information on her own terms, and we totally respect her for it. But that doesn't mean outsiders haven't tried to weigh in.

In an article in Page Six, a source reveals in no uncertain terms that Fox and Green are back together. "They’re a couple again," says the source. "They’re moving back in with each other." The closer quarters could help the couple get their marriage back on track... or it could remind them of everything that annoyed them about each other in the first place.

More: Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green had a very modern marriage problem

Fox and Green have two more reasons to make it work: 3-year-old Noah and 2-year-old Bodhi. As Green told People, "At my age, to be having three babies is crazy. I’ll be 43 this year.” Does he really want to be a 43-year-old with three kids who's also divorced? All signs point to no.

New Finding Dory trailer takes a big dig at SeaWorld

Ever since I first saw Finding Nemo 13 years ago (yipes), I've been anxiously awaiting a sequel. It's definitely in my top five all-time favorite Disney movies, so when I heard Finding Dory was in the works, I pretty much could not contain my excitement. However, after watching the first trailer for the movie, I found I was filled with mixed emotions. Not because I don't think it will be anything less than a masterpiece, but because it shines a light on a recent animal issue about which I find most troubling.

MoreSeaWorld has finally decided to stop breeding killer whales

That issue is SeaWorld's flagrantly poor treatment of their park animals, especially the orca whales. For decades, they've kept these creatures confined in small tanks, separated moms from babies, forced inbreeding on them, withheld food and drugged them on a regular basis. While several animal rights groups repeatedly tried and failed to bring animal cruelty charges against them, the amusement park giant was able to evade persecution for years, that is, until a documentary called Blackfish came out.

The film laid bare all the grisly details of abuse that took place in the parks ever since the orca program's inception. As such, the film garnered significant attention from the media, and SeaWorld finally began to be held accountable for their inexcusable actions. Within the same year of the documentary's national release, SeaWorld's revenue took a major dive. They offered discounts and broadcast commercials designed to redeem them, but to no avail. As of last fall, they put an end to their orca shows and are presently winding down the orca breeding program for good.

You might be wondering how Finding Dory fits into all this. Well, a significant portion of the film takes place in a SeaWorld-like setting called Monterey Marine Life Institute. While on a mission to find her family, Dory winds up there among various other marine animals who all seem desperate to escape the theme park prison.

Yesterday, the official Finding Dory Facebook page released a new trailer, and it definitely shed some insight as to just how heavy their anti-SeaWorld theme would be.

At one point, a whale and a whale shark actually lunge toward the display tank's barriers, as many real whales have often been found doing at SeaWorld in the past.

More'Finding Dory': Meet the voices behind the lovable characters of the film

Even Ellen Degeneres has eluded to the film's pointed message at SeaWorld. She herself fervently believes what they do to animals is wrong and inhumane, and hopes this movie will bring some much-needed attention to the issue, but in a family-friendly way.

“I think that fish should be in the ocean,” she told Yahoo. “It’s what this whole sequel is about: It’s about rehabilitation and putting them back in the ocean… And we have to protect our oceans. Hopefully that discussion starts with this film, because we really need to protect that environment.”

And what better animal to lead this discussion about saving our marine life than everyone's favorite forgetful fish, Dory?

As I said up top, I am so pumped for this sequel, and while its message definitely struck a chord at first trailer viewing, it's ultimately made me that much more eager to share it with everyone I know.

Yolanda Foster & David Foster's latest run-in was awkward, but so relatable

We have to give credit to Yolanda Foster. It can't be easy to go through a public divorce, but she's obligated to answer questions about her private life as part of her job as a cast member on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Even when it seems like she might have a night off, there are prying eyes everywhere.

At a party at Wally's in Los Angeles, Foster had one of those moments we all dread: a run-in with her ex. Even worse? Someone from the party chatted to Life & Style for an article about how "extremely uncomfortable" their run-in looked. We're sure Foster handled the whole thing with grace — the whole thing seems like, not surprisingly, a case of her ex-husband's ill manners.

More: I'm so over the RHOBH fake illness theme with Yolanda Foster

In an exes situation, someone always has to make the first move. It looks like David Foster was the one who wouldn't budge and made the evening awkward. "David and Yolanda had an awkward run-in,” says a guest. "David did not want to even say hi to Yolanda, and she felt heartbroken.”

More: RHOBH's Yolanda Foster involved in yet another friendship feud

The guest elaborated on just how awkward the moment was for everyone at the party. "They both stared at each other in utter shock, and it was extremely uncomfortable. The whole party felt their tension. It was awkward for everyone right up until Yolanda left early.”

Prince Harry helps the Obamas officially reach the DGAF stage of presidency

Queen Elizabeth has basically threatened another war with the Colonies after receiving a trash-talking video from the Obamas.

The threat was made in that most subtle way that only the Brits can pull off, of course, but it's definitely there if you read between the lines. Thanks, Obama!

Just kidding, it's totally a setup! But the fact that the queen is playing along is pretty rad. Here's what's going on.

Our favorite hot ginge, Prince Harry, is bringing the Invictus Games stateside to Orlando next week. Michelle Obama, along with her hubby (you know, the leader of the free world?) and three soldiers with amazing facial expressions tweeted some good old-fashioned smack talk across the pond.

Turns out Harry was having a nice chat with his sweet grandma about his favorite project when he received the tweet — and her reaction is classic.

That sounds like a challenge there, Liz. Remember what happened the last time the Brits got in a scuffle with the Yanks — it didn't turn out so well for you.

Seriously, though, there is so much to love about this entire narrative. It's refreshing to see a level of irreverence and humor from leaders in stressful positions. It's awesome that a woman of the queen's vintage has taken so well to the most modern of ways and has really embraced social media. It's great to see that Harry has found a wonderful cause that clearly means the world to him and that he can proudly stand behind, and it's heartwarming that his gran is obviously immensely proud of his work.

Even if it does cause another revolution.
