9 Things that affect your ability to orgasm

$

0

Unfortunately, there are oodles of annoying things that can get in the way of a woman's O skills, including:

1. Your smartphone

"When your bedroom is full of noise — texting, emails, piles of papers and other reminders you have a life beyond your orgasm, it makes it harder to have one," says relationship expert April Masini. Lose the electronics and make your boudoir a tech-free, stress-free zone.

2. Your vagina

Or rather, your relationship with it: Research shows the quality of your orgasms is linked to how you feel about your vagina — and your body in general. "Many women are so obsessed with body perfection that instead of having a great time in bed, they're worried about the angles and the lighting he's seeing you in," says Masini. "Who has time for an orgasm when you're too busy directing and styling your sex life — as it's happening?" When you're in bed, focus your attention completely on what's happening between the sheets. Everything else can wait.

More: Can high heels really kill your orgasm?

3. Your hormones

"A hormonal imbalance is a surefire way to kill your libido," says women's health expert Sally Kravich, Ph.D. Check with your doctor if you feel this is the case, and in the meantime Kravich recommends focusing on a nutritious diet and avoiding stimulants like junk foods and artificial drinks, which will get you all hot and bothered — and not in a good way.

4. Your expectations

According to Dr. Alice Hucker, clinical psychologist and sex therapist, only a minority of women can orgasm from penetration alone. (Greeeat.) "Most women need additional clitoral stimulation to have an orgasm, whether that be during intercourse, oral sex or manual sex," says Hucker. In other words, it's time to put in some OT with your SO.

5. Being too relaxed

For real. It's a thing. "While relaxation is an important ingredient in good sex, women can be too relaxed and not realize that certain muscles need to be worked to reach climax," says Hucker, including grinding your hips, squeezing your thighs together, pointing your toes and clenching your pelvic floor muscles.

6. Exhaustion

"It's hard to get in the mood when all you want to do is sleep," says Kravich. "Set time aside for yourself on a daily basis to relax, receive, and replenish." Making "me time" a regular thing will give you the energy boost necessary to get frisky with your partner (and you know, enjoy it).

More: 3 Ways to build a better orgasm

7. Fear

We are women, hear us roar and all that, but your fear of losing control in the moment can hold your mind and body back from a grand finale. "An orgasm is referred to as 'the little death' in France because it's a powerful experience," says Hucker. "It's not uncommon for women to simultaneously want to reach orgasm and also fear the experience of losing herself in the moment." Face. Meet palm.

8. No instruction manual

If you're not familiar with how your equipment works or what specifically revs your engine, how can you expect your partner to? "Women who know their bodies well and have experimented with ways to make themselves orgasm are better equipped to teach a lover how to make sex more pleasurable and how to help her reach climax," says Hucker.

9. Stage fright

"Many women can get 'psyched out' by focusing too much on reaching orgasm, instead of enjoying the sexual experience," says Hucker. Ironically, if having an orgasm is the only goal on your mind during your romp in the sack, your mind and body become too tense to get there — so you know, stop it.

Nikki Bella dishes on the pressure of leading the Divas Revolution (EXCLUSIVE)

Always supportive of her fellow Divas, Bella recently told SheKnows that she is very happy for Charlotte Flair, who is now the Divas champion. According to Bella, Charlotte Flair is the ideal successor, as she brings not only her own impressive talent to the table, but also her status as the daughter of Ric Flair, who is "one of the best in the whole world of wrestling." Bella believes that, thanks to her family background, Flair has a "natural love for the business."

More: Bella Twins tease their amazing abs in upcoming GQ shoot

Not only is Bella very confident about Flair's ability to carry on the great Divas champion tradition, she is actually relieved to be backing off a bit. Life as a champion is not easy, as it includes an array of added responsibilities above and beyond the already-crazy experience of being a WWE Diva. Bella's goal has always been to "make this the best Divas division," but while she was champion, the pressure to accomplish this feat was sometimes overwhelming.

Hopefully, now that she's given up her championship belt, Bella will have a little more time to herself. Unfortunately, in this age of Twitter and Instagram, unplugging is easier said than done. The Diva admits that, at times, she would like to "disconnect more," especially because "social media is such a negative place." However, as an entertainer, it is expected of her to interact with her fans on a regular basis. Although she enjoys many aspects of her life in the public eye, Bella admits that, if "it were all to go away tomorrow, I would be 100 percent OK with that." Ultimately, she's more interested in telling stories than being famous,

More: Nikki Bella says she's successful because she's more than a pretty face

Despite all the social media negativity, there are plenty of perks to being the center of attention, many of which have been brought about by Total Divas. Bella believes that the popular reality show has played an instrumental role in challenging the typical perception WWE fans have of the Divas division. Prior to Total Divas, the WWE largely downplayed the challenges involved in being a Diva. Not only do the Divas have to "work just as hard as the guys," they are also forced to put in "all these efforts to make sure [they] look good." There's also the usual struggle to maintain a balance between work and family. Now that fans have witnessed these challenges on Total Divas, they have a much better understanding of just how "strong and empowered" the Divas truly are.

In addition to improving the public perception of the Divas, Bella's time in the public eye has enabled her to draw attention to a variety of worthy causes. The WWE star recently attracted a ton of attention with her participation in the Just Keep Dancing challenge for pediatric cancer awareness. She is also involved in Best Buddies, an organization that promotes a variety of opportunities for individuals with developmental disabilities. During a recent Best Buddies charity effort, Bella "was so touched and inspired" by the efforts of Maria Shriver and her loved ones, who are at the forefront of the Best Buddies movement.

More: Why John Cena is perfect for Nikki Bella

Bella thinks that "everything [the Shrivers] do is absolutely amazing" and she is eager to follow in their footsteps. "Being [at the charity event] all weekend and speaking to all these incredible people and hearing all these incredible stories... they hooked me. I want to be a part of this. I want to do whatever I can. I want to be a mentor."

These sentiments are admirable, but many dedicated fans already think that Bella is a wonderful role model. The positive feedback is bound to increase as she continues to participate in charitable efforts, promote the Divas division and demonstrate all of the hard work that goes into being a woman in the WWE.

The Big Bang Theory ruins fans' dreams with ridiculous wedding drama

Honestly, guys! For a show about uber-smart scientists and strong, smart women, tonight's The Big Bang Theory was a massive letdown and full of stereotypical female tropes. Let's just examine it, shall we?

More: 11 TV story lines a female character would have never survived

Last season, they focused almost entirely on Leonard's admittance of kissing a girl while he was on his expedition. Penny agreed the past was the past and moved on, agreeing to marry him. In the first half of tonight's premiere, we saw Leonard and Penny finally tie the knot and, for a few short minutes, it was glorious. Penny looked absolutely precious in her soft pink dress. It was everything fans have been waiting for, but it quickly faded once Leonard carried her over the threshold and into their hotel room.

In television's stereotypical way, Penny was stuck playing the unforgiving woman. She couldn't move past Leonard's kiss, despite previously saying otherwise. Newsflash, showrunners and character development teams: Women are not only capable of saying they forgive their men, but they are also able to actually do so. Sure, there are times when we all hold grudges. But we wouldn't be stupid enough to get married if we were still not ready to let go of someone's past transgressions.

More: What's ahead? More Season 9 spoilers

And don't think we didn't notice that "let's make a baby" plot from Leonard. While we appreciate the fact that it didn't work, we're not ready to let go of the fact that they wrote in that sad distraction in the first place.

Sadly for TBBT fans, however, Penny and Leonard's post-wedding drama wasn't even the worst part of the night. No. That went to the show's treatment of Amy. In last season's finale, we were so proud of Amy and her decision to break it off with Sheldon. As much as we love them together, we don't love seeing Amy deprived of her basic human desire for intimacy and we applauded the show's attempt at showing a woman taking major steps to find happiness without a man.

That went to hell during the premiere, however, when Amy showed up at Bernadette and Howie's house for some sympathy. Stuart is still living at the house, where he'd previously lived with Howard's mother. He's so sad and pathetic, it's hard not to feel sorry for him. However, as Amy mourned her breakup, Stuart quickly put the moves on her. Seriously? Over and over again, we've watched showrunners treat Amy as something pathetic or "less than" the other girls. Now was her chance to break away from her unhappiness and the first thing they do is have the most pathetic male on the show hit on her, as if that's all she's capable of getting. We love the idea of Amy being single and happy. We'd be more stoked to see the show treat her as the gorgeous, smart girl she is and give her a worthy, if only temporary, mate. To really drive home Stuart's sad desire to have a woman, any woman, they soon had him become creepily interested in news that Penny was home alone. If he were entirely hooked on Amy, we'd be OK with it, even if it is just Stuart. Watching him go after any living creature lessened Amy's specialness all for the sake of a cheap laugh. Not cool.

Can The Big Bang Theory redeem itself this season? We'll have to wait to find out.

Jessa Duggar's Instagram post proves Josh is not forgiven (PHOTO)

A source within the Duggar family told Entertainment Tonight that Josh is still being shut out of the family after admitting to cheating on his wife and using pornography when his email address and credit card information was found in the Ashley Madison hack.

"It is going to take a long time before we forgive," the source said. "In the long term, eventually, we will forgive, it will be in our best interest to forgive. Won't happen soon. Won't happen fast.

"Just because we forgive doesn't mean we trust ever again. We are still extremely upset. We are all still hurt. Josh is still in rehab, nobody is warm and fuzzy to him yet. It still feels like he is a stranger."

One person still strongly hinting at the family’s hurt feelings is his sister, Jessa, who posted a Bible passage on Instagram about how the only path to righteousness is confession.

Is she saying that she doesn’t believe Josh has been completely forthcoming about his sins? It wouldn’t be the first time Jessa has been as outspoken as a Duggar can be about her brother’s transgressions.

After Josh’s confession, porn star Danica Dillon came forward, saying that she had at least two sexual encounters with the reality star, but despite all of these awful revelations, Josh’s wife, Anna, is still standing by her man.

"… Anna is still by his side supporting him," a source told E! Online. "She isn't in Arkansas. She is getting support from her family. She is staying with her mom."

Anna’s mom, Suzette Keller, was shown living in Florida on the now-canceled 19 Kids and Counting, but it is unclear if that is where she still resides.

Dancing with the Stars' Kim Zolciak surprises with strong performance

She didn't end up at the top of the Dancing with the Stars leaderboard — that honor went to Bindi Irwin and Derek Hough, who rocked an Argentine tango to AC/DC in honor of her Australian hometown — but Kim Zolciak and her partner, Tony Dovolani, also didn't end the night in the bottom three. Zolciak, who was emotional all week over her initial showing, displayed vast improvement in this week's quickstep. Judges and fans seemed surprised but thrilled for her.

Controversy and tears

Vine star Hayes Grier did a foxtrot to a Florida Georgia Line song that landed him in the middle of the leaderboard by night's end, but it was his emotional connection with his mom, who was in the studio audience, that had fans reacting.

Dancing with the Stars competitor Paula Deen also had fans talking again. This time she raised eyebrows by turning up the heat with partner Louis Van Amstel in a sultry black number and high heels. They danced a rumba for Savannah that ended with Van Amstel dipping Deen as she wrapped her leg around him. Some fans weren't feeling it, with the overall consensus being that it was uncomfortable to watch.

While Bindi Irwin and Derek Hough topped the Dancing with the Stars leaderboard with a score of 25, Tamar Braxton and Val Chmerkovskiy,  Carlos PenaVega and Witney Carson, and Alexa PenaVega and Mark Ballas were right behind her with scores of 24. At the bottom of the leaderboard were Chaka Khan and Keo Motsepe with 15 points for their elegant foxtrot (also better than last week), and Karina Smirnoff and jockey Victor Espinoza, who despite the low score of 17 points, charmed the crowd with their enthusiastic hip-shaking jive.

Elimination

At the end of the night, it was finally time for the first elimination of the season. Chaka Khan and Keo Motsepe and Gary Busey and Anna Trebunskaya, who danced a charming foxtrot reliving Busey's high school days, were in jeopardy. Ultimately, Chaka Khan and Keo Motsepe were the first couple to go home.

Did you watch all of the performances on Dancing with the Stars tonight? Who got your votes? Were you surprised that Chaka Khan was eliminated and not another competitor?

RHOC's Heather Dubrow attacked for freaking out about her house

In the midst of all the Brooks Ayers cancer drama, Dubrow has actually sometimes seemed like a voice of reason, but that all changed during tonight's episode of RHOC, when she decided to once again discuss her home's renovation with her husband. Dubrow is nearly as obsessed with her fancy home as Meghan Edmonds is with Ayers' cancer diagnosis; both of the reality stars' obsessions make them increasingly unlikable.

More: Meghan Edmonds' "hate" for Brooks Ayers is starting to get creepy

Dubrow's latest house drama on The Real Housewives of Orange County began innocently enough, with the reality star chatting with her husband briefly about her big plans for a window with a tree etching. Dubrow figured she'd collaborate with her mother on the design. But things didn't exactly go as planned, because when she showed her hubby an initial sketch, he balked. It was immediately obvious that Terry Dubrow was not a fan of his mother-in-law's design. Not a big deal, right? Everybody has preferences and spouses aren't always going to have the same taste. But instead of moving on, Dubrow got super bent out of shape about the whole affair.

More: Vicki Gunvalson, Shannon Beador are reality TV's most important friendship

According to Dubrow, it's really important for her husband to immediately fall in love with the tree sketch or, at minimum, do a great job of pretending that he adores it. He's not allowed to hold an opinion about the house if it's even a tiny bit different than her own. Yes, he could have been a little bit more considerate when delivering his opinion about the tree, but Dubrow's response was certainly not ideal.

The argument eventually devolved into a discussion of how hard Dubrow has worked on the house. But Twitter users don't agree that the reality star is hard at work, unless this concept translates to signing a lot of checks. They also feel that Dubrow's whining exemplifies #RichPeopleProblems.

"I decided to wear every derogatory word you can possibly call a woman because people call us that all the time," Rose said of why she and friend Blac Chyna wore the dresses. "We're mothers and we're entrepreneurs, and we're beautiful and we're young and we're sexual beings and we're not scared of that. So we decided to just kind of bring that message of awareness."

Incredible makeup artist Jordan Hanz was inspired by Rose's strong message and created her own video, "Unattainable Woman," which further explores the labels women face on the daily.

Unattainable Woman

Unattainable Woman

"These ideals are unattainable and impractical. How dare you tell me who to be and what is wrong or right?" Hanz asks in the video as she paints the nasty words women hear every day. "If a woman shows confidence, defends herself, shows a differing opinion than what someone else may have, she's considered a bitch.

“If a woman is plus-sized or has even a larger body type, she's viewed as lazy," she continues. "If we have emotional baggage, depression, anxiety, scars, we're nothing more than just damaged goods."

Basically, do you and offer no apologies.

And that's a message every woman — no matter our age, color, weight or sexual orientation — needs to hear and absorb.

The Teen Mom star left the house in disgrace after threatening to spit on and kill all of her housemates, but her mother says Abraham played the game exactly how producers wanted her to — and now she is being punished for it.

"She changed the whole show," Debra Danielsen told OK! magazine. "People tune into a show because they want to see entertainment, they want to see intelligence, they want to see drama and I think Farrah brought all that to the table."

During her tenure, Abraham threatened her costars' lives, saying, "I am straight up going to kill everyone in this house." But Danielsen said her daughter didn't mean it literally.

"She's not going to hurt any human," she explained. "She thinks the Celebrity Big Brother house needed to end and that the house was a bad idea."

She also defended Abraham telling housemate Natasha Hamilton she was going to spit on her — causing Hamilton to call her "vile" — saying, "When people are lying or they're full of bullshit she calls it right out."

And at the end of the day, Danielsen said, Abraham was just doing what the producers asked of her: playing the villain.

Bittersweet The Voice premiere features Blake Shelton in a wedding ring

Gwen Stefani and Christina Aguilera have once again swapped places, but that is not the only major judging panel change to take place since Sawyer Fredericks emerged victorious on The Voice. The other big development was, of course, Shelton and Lambert's split. When filming began for Season 9, the two had yet to file for divorce, which explains why Shelton still had a ring on his finger during tonight's premiere.

More: Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert's divorce has turned very nasty

Shelton's finger may have featured a wedding ring, but there were other signs of trouble, including, most notably, his slightly despondent demeanor. Then again, Shelton may have merely been upset that the contestants were so reluctant to select him as their coach. He's accustomed to being the favorite, so it can't be easy to be turned down again and again. Regardless of the reason for his apparent case of the blues, Shelton didn't quite seem himself. The only time he truly seemed upbeat was whenever he resumed his all-too-familiar bromance tendencies with Adam Levine.

Fans are still very cut up about the sad end to Shelton and Lambert's romance. Many were quick to comment about the presence of Shelton's wedding ring. Now that Shelton's wedding ring has been spotted, fans are bound to watch for it during each and every pre-recorded episode. The blind auditions took place during the end of June and the beginning of July, so the ring will probably remain on Shelton's finger until this portion of the show is over. After all, he did not file for divorce until July 20. What's more, speculation following the split indicated that he did not stop wearing his ring the moment he filed for divorce. It will be interesting to see what happens with his ring and if he is able to maintain a positive demeanor after it disappears.

What could possibly go wrong when you combine alcohol and a unicorn onesie? At a New Year's Eve celebration put together by Juliet, the ladies enjoyed some lighthearted shenanigans, until a comment by Caroline Stanbury sent Julie Montagu into tears. While it's debatable as to whether or not Julie actually let it go (she probably didn't), the ultimate faux pas of the evening was when Caroline, clad in a unicorn onesie, straddled Juliet's husband, Gregor. Caroline didn't understand what all the fuss was about — it was a joke — but Juliet was furious, especially when Caroline said Gregor loved it. Caroline's army of fans on Twitter (as well as those who just don't like Juliet) rushed to her defense.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star has been spotted limping about with a major bandage on her foot, including at her birthday dinner with her ex-husband, Monty Brinson, and it sounds like it really hurt!

"Kim was leaving the hotel where she was staying at night and she was walking out through a really big heavy door. The person in front of her didn't hold it and it came flying back and swung and smashed into her toes. It split the skin between two of the toes," a source told Radar Online.

The incident resulted in 20 stitches.

"She could have lost her toe," the source said. "The good news is that it could have been a lot worse but she will have full recovery of her foot. She had the stitches out just a few days ago and her foot is healing well."

Regardless, it is still a very painful injury and we have to wonder if the reality star has been tempted to turn back to pain pills to get her through.

"This really hurt. If she had been taking pain pills it would not hurt so much," the source acknowledged. "She wishes she was taking pain pills because this has been very painful. But she is focused on her sobriety so she isn't."

Great news there, at least.

And as it turns out, this is the mysterious foot injury that her lawyers said precluded her from performing any kind of physical community service in her plea deal for public intoxication charges.

"Kim has to use crutches most of the time. She didn't for her birthday but she just walked really slowly and she can't wear heels. She couldn't do anything physical for community service," the source said.

Unfortunately for Richards, the judge didn't buy it. In addition to three years summary probation and 52 Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, she was sentenced to 30 days community labor.

Buffalo chicken meatloaf recipe

Serves 4

Prep time: 10 minutes | Cook time: 50 minutes | Total time: 1 hour

Ingredients:

For the meatloaf

  • 1-1/2 pounds ground chicken
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup crumbled blue cheese
  • 1/2 cup Frank's RedHot sauce
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup small-diced celery
  • 1/3 cup small-diced carrots
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 large egg

For the topping

  • 1/3 cup crumbled blue cheese
  • 1/4 cup Frank's RedHot sauce

Directions:

  1. Heat the oven to 350 degrees F, and line a rimmed baking sheet with foil or a Silpat liner.
  2. To a large bowl, add all the ingredients, and mix together. (I find my hands work best for this.)
  3. Once fully combined and mixed, shape the mixture into a ball, add it to the prepared baking sheet, and shape it into an oval.
  4. Cook for about 30 minutes, then top with the sauce and cheese, and cook for another 20 minutes, until fully cooked and the topping has melted.
  5. Serve hot with more hot sauce or blue cheese, if desired.

Lee rejects the growing medical movement of a wait-and-see approach to early-stage breast cancers, saying that, to her, the risk simply wasn't worth it.

And now that Mariah Carey has stepped out with her new man, we can officially officially call them a couple.

And they are adorable together. The "#Beautiful" singer walked the red carpet with her new beau at the premiere of The Intern on Monday. Of course, the pair has been spotted together for the last several months, most notably walking the streets of Capri, Italy, in June.

Want to know more about him? He is none other than Aussie businessman James Packer.

At the red carpet event, they didn't hold hands, but they did stand extremely close and seemed very cozy with each other. Packer was caught often taking the sweetest glances over at the singer with a wide, toothy grin on his face most of the time. The Aussie, like Carey, has been married before and is now divorced. He has three young children, while Carey herself has twins with her ex-husband, Nick Cannon. The two were all smiles and giggles together and looked like they were nothing but smitten with each other.

The best part? He really is smitten with her. An insider told E! News, "They get along amazingly and their communication is aways fluid and easy. James is very into Mariah, though, and he wants to spoil her and her children every minute he can. He feels she only deserves the best."

And taking their relationship to the next level, it seems, at least to Packer, was the obvious step. According to this insider, "This is just the beginning of their relationship and they are both excited about what possibly can be ahead of them in the future."

Too. Cute. So happy for Carey to be and look so in love again.

7 Things that don't make you a lousy mom

1. Selfishness

Being a mom means putting your kids' needs before your own most of the time, but that doesn’t mean all the time. If you occasionally glaze out in front of the television with a glass of wine while the kids have baloney sandwiches for dinner, you’re being a little selfish. If you take that corner piece of the cake and cut it just a little bigger than all of the other pieces? Selfish... and that’s OK. Even healthy. Doing something nice for yourself doesn’t make you a bad mom.

2. Lunchables

Yes, most of the time we strive for something more nutritionally complete than a plastic tray full of nitrates and processed cheese food. But sometimes the need to quickly fill our kids' tummies dictates the menu. That doesn’t make you a bad mom.

More: Things you say that make you sound like your mom

3. Impatience

Moms are expected to have eternal, saint-like patience while our kids are learning to eat by themselves, write their names and not poop their pants. Don’t beat yourself up if you occasionally find your well of patience has run dry — and by occasionally, I mean all the time. You’re not a lousy mom because you lose your patience. You’re normal.

4. Not liking the PTA, kid parties or mom groups

Meetings, group interactions and the dreaded kids’ party are just part of motherhood — a part that sometimes sucks. Don’t beat yourself up if you find yourself sitting in the corner at a 4-year-old’s birthday party wishing you had snuck a flask in your purse. You’re probably not the only one.

5. Lying to your kids

We teach our kids that honesty is the best policy, right? Because it is. But sometimes that little white lie comes in handy. I’m guilty of telling my kid, “Oh, no… this is super spicy,” in reference to the ice cream bar I was attempting to eat in secret or regretfully saying, “Sorry sweetie, that’s broken,” in reference to the annoying little coin-operated race car outside of Walmart (you know the one). So, I throw out the occasional white lie to make life with kids a little easier on myself.

6. Bottle feeding, epidurals or refusing to cosleep

There are thousands of articles written by “experts” that will tell you how to manage your pregnancy, birth and the early years with your child. Just spend five minutes on the internet and you can read all about how the breast is best and that you’re not giving your child the best shot at successful adulthood if you don’t wear him strapped to your chest for 100 hours a day.

You know the phrase “Mom knows best?” You do, so stop worrying about what you’re not doing or what someone else has to say about it. You’re doing fine.

7. A messy house

If you have small kids and don’t have full-time cleaning help, your house is probably messy more than half of the time. Is the screen on your television covered with tiny, peanut-buttery fingerprints? Can you make a full meal out of the goldfish crackers and Teddy Grahams in your sofa cushions? Does your living room look like the plastic toy fairy threw up on your rug? Trust me… it’s not just you and a little — OK, a lot — of stickiness doesn’t make you a bad mom. Not by a longshot.

Sometimes moms just have those days where we’re frazzled and disorganized. We yell at our kids, get nothing accomplished and everything just seems to go south. But, just remember this: a bad day doesn’t make you a bad mother.

Cut yourself some slack, mom. You’re doing just fine.

7 Fall nail trends anyone can master

Nail trends make us happy because they are accessible to every single woman on the planet — and can be achieved whether you choose to shop for shades at a luxury beauty boutique or your local drugstore. As we learned way back in February, when designers and makeup artists unveiled their fall '15 inspirations, nearly anything goes this autumn when it comes to nail designs and color — from the deepest, sexiest wine shades to metallic blue and teeny, tiny geometric nail appliqués. It's going to be an exciting season for nail polish lovers, so let's get started and have a peek at what we have to look forward to wearing.

1. Metallic blue nails

All shades of blue are having a major moment, but summer's Tiffany blue will be replaced by a deeper metallic blue and a moody navy shade this autumn — the perfect complement to all of those gorgeous gray separates and denim-everything pieces that kept popping up on runways. Jump right in by trying a seductive shade like OPI Russian Navy.

2. Nails inspired by red wine

There's a good reason why Marsala is the Pantone shade of the year: It's dramatic, sensual and earthy enough to work with everything in your autumn wardrobe. Take your look one step further by pairing a nail polish like OPI Marsala Much Set with a '90s throwback lip shade — Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Bahama is particularly gorgeous.

3. Mauve nails

It's soft, pretty, feminine and adds a delicate touch to all of those luscious, weighty fabrics and deep colors we'll be sporting come September and October — mauve (defined as a cross between light purple and deep pink) feels thoroughly modern, yet classic, right now. One to try: Essie Lady Like.

4. Black accents

Although straight-up black wasn't a common color on fall runways, several models sported colored polish with black stripes or chevron details. A hint of black comes across as classy, yet edgy, and provides a spectacular contrast to romantic Victorian pieces that are all the rage this season.

5. Nude nails

There's nothing like a goes-with-everything nude nail polish to save you time and help you look understated, but glam, no matter what you're wearing that day. When choosing a nude polish this fall, veer toward those that have a darker, richer brown base  — Dolce & Gabbana The Nail Lacquer in Caramel is perfection.

6. Gritty silver and gold nails

Sliver nails 1a

Metallics are major this season, with everyone from Nanette Lepore to Creatures of the Wind sending models down the runway with intense gold or steely silver nails. The best hues are gritty and will look amazing when paired with head-to-toe black (another great fall trend). Butter London Chimney Sweep Nail Lacquer is sexy — and just a little dirty.

7. Little details

Nails details 1a

This isn't about in-your-face designs that take up the entire width or length of your nail (though there were plenty of those on the runway, as well). This is about the unexpected pleasure of looking down at pale, sweet nails and noticing the teeniest, edgy detail — like a small square, splattering of sequins or thin stripe of glitter. Be creative and have fun this season.

The Muppets infuriates moms, but they're just misinformed

According to their website, One Million Moms claims that The Muppets is "not what Jim Henson imagined and created... it is not the show it once was. ABC has ruined The Muppets."

But Jim Henson famously wanted his show to entertain adults. The New York Times wrote this about Henson's original vision, "Kermit and coterie were primarily created to entertain adults, and they live in the real world. Henson was so insistent that they stand apart from his Sesame Street creations in personality and tone that he (misleadingly) titled the 1975 pilot that would boost their careers The Muppet Show: Sex and Violence."

The Muppets franchise is now owned by Disney and clearly intends to restore Henson's vision, particularly now that reality TV is so popular with viewers of all ages. The new show takes a mockumentary format and promises to focus on the personal lives of Miss Piggy and Kermit the Frog, as it will show much of what goes on "behind the scenes" of Miss Piggy's late-night talk show.

Looking a little deeper into the One Million Moms protest, we think we figured out the real reason why the conservative group is calling for a boycott. "Miss Piggy came out as a pro-choice feminist during an MSNBC interview. The puppet characters loved by kids in the 1970s and 1980s and beyond are now weighing in on abortion and promiscuity," says the One Million Moms' article.

We think it's highly unlikely that a discussion about abortion rights will be part of the TV show, but if it is, we'll support Miss Piggy's right to choose.

So, will there be some racy jokes? Absolutely! But most of them will be told in a non-overt way or as a double entendre.

Executive producer Bob Kushell recently told TVLine.com, "The writers are thinking in a way where you don't go to the more racy joke first, you go to the clever way to say the racy joke. It's becoming second nature very quickly." Sounds just like the old The Muppet Show from the 1970s to us.

The Muppets airs tonight on ABC.
