The America's Got Talent judge and model's sheer yellow dress is right off the Atelier Versace runway, and it's quite detailed.

The sheer yellow base gown is layered with pieces of feather-shaped fabric on Klum's left side, a ringed long sleeve on her right arm and a mesh mullet hem on her right side. The open back is accessorized with criss-cross spaghetti straps, too.

The So You Think You Can Dance host hit the red carpet with her husband — and her growing baby bump — at the 67th Primetime Emmy Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday night. Deeley chatted with reporters about her excitement about becoming a first-time mom and the challenges she's faced so far.

"I managed to squeeze myself in this Monique Lhuillier gown and we had to let the back out a little bit, but the rest is OK!" the British TV star, in a gorgeous, form-fitting gold gown, told Giuliana Rancic. "I'm hanging in there."

This isn't the first time Deeley has shown off her bump — and her pregnancy glow — at a red carpet event. She and husband Patrick Kielty hit the red carpet together earlier this month at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards, where Deeley gave fans their first glimpse of her changing body. The couple, who tied the knot back in 2012, are expecting to welcome their first baby sometime in the spring.

Beware these 5 social media traps

$
0
0

I love the networking and business aspects of social media... but, as with anything, it has its pros and cons. Ask yourself if you find yourself falling into any — or more than one — of these social media pitfalls.

1. If we don't post it, it didn't really happen

People seem to have this notion that if we don't post our every move on social media, it didn't happen. We see it all the time: folks posting photos of all — and I do mean all — of their meals, every waking moment of their lives or even their church's sermon on a Sunday morning. Really? Just because you don't post every single detail of your life does not mean it's not happening.

I get it. You're posting to your own pages, and if people don't like it, they can unfollow. Remember, though, that half the people who follow you are your associates, and the other half probably don't care. OK, a handful of people maybe do care. But isn't there is a fine line between being transparent and oversharing? Overdose can be exhausting for some audiences, and pretty soon they'll be rolling their eyes and clicking past your posts.

2. Letting moments happen behind a lens instead of living our moments

As a photographer who has shot several weddings, I've noticed nearly every guest has had an iPad or iPhone out, recording and snapping photos throughout the entire event.

I wonder: Are they even present and in the moment to listen to the vows and enjoy the emotions of the day? Sure, people are going to want to take their own photos to document their experience at the event, but it is OK to unplug at some point to mingle, have some cocktails, enjoy the crab cakes and get out on the dance floor!

More couples are embracing "unplugged" weddings lately (no cell phone photos during the ceremony), so guests will be completely engaged for the vows exchange.

Some couples may not want their wedding images plastered all over the web without giving the final nod. You know how you untag yourselves in the less-than-flattering pictures your friends post all over the web? Well, this is something like that.

Then again, some couples may not mind at all! Something I absolutely love is wedding hashtags. Brides and grooms can create their own wedding hashtags (i.e., #TheDoeWedding) their guests can attach to online posts. Later, friends can click through the images and experiences from their event via social media. How cool is that?

More: What happens when you take away people's smartphones?

3. Becoming desensitized to tragedy

With so much negativity going on in the news lately, the norm has become to press record, express our views on social media and share stories at the click of a button. To be honest, I find things out quicker on social media; Twitter seems to spread the word faster than CNN these days (no shade). I've always said that you find out exactly where the hearts and minds of your friends/associates stand in the face of tragedy via social media. How many people have you had to unfollow due to their rantings on the Internet?

Are seeing tragic images and hearing these heartbreaking stories desensitizing us? Does anything shock us anymore? Recently, a man live-streamed himself murdering his ex-colleagues on social media. Even if you tried to avoid seeing those videos and images, they kept recirculating all over timelines (autoplay is the devil). I believe social media is mainly used for good and to connect. I hate that it can be used for evil and hate and cyberbullying.

More: Step away from the smartphone: It could be making you moody

4. Trying to keep up with the Joneses

It is easy to get caught up in what everyone is doing via social media and assuming that their lives are all glitz and glam, red-soled shoes and cocktails. The truth of the matter is this: You don't know their lives. You only know the parts of their lives they choose to show you — and even then, it's hard to decipher authenticity through online photos.

Of course, people are going to want to showcase their best selves. Don't envy someone else's life, relationship or success, because you really don't know the nuts and bolts of it or what it took to get them there. Keeping up with the Joneses will leave you confused, depressed and broke. Keep up with you.

5. Violating special relationships that should remain sacred

Everything is not for everybody. Everything is not for everybody. And everything is not for everybody.

We do not need to know you got into an argument with your boo last night. I am a strong believer that marriages and relationships should be protected. Everyone does not need to be in your business, nor does everyone have your best interests at heart. Take your relationship issues to the person in the relationship.

Don't air your dirty laundry on social media! If you need to vent, talk to a trusted friend or family member.

6. Giving out too much information on social media

I cannot stress this enough. Stop giving away too much on social media! I've heard stories where people have posted they were going out of town with specifics (such as departure date, how long they would be gone, where they were going), only to come back to find that their unoccupied homes had been robbed. Be smart about what you share and which details you reveal. Set those privacy settings as well! Not everyone is privy to a peek into your personal life.

Venus forms its third and last trine to Uranus on Sept. 22. It's not every day when Venus moves back and forth over this point in your horoscope — which would explain the on-again, off-again nature of your romantic affections. You said you wanted him, said you wanted something else, and now it looks like you want him again. These things are to be expected when you have Venus going in and out of retrograde but good luck trying to explain that to him. Thank heavens it's not too late to fix the situation and to make matters right.

Putting aside your differences doesn't mean throwing your hands up in the air and yielding the field. It makes perfect sense that you want things to be peaceful on the home front. You were born under the planet Venus and her motto is to make love and not war. However there are certain points of contention that simply won't go away on their own. Continue to look for a way to reach a compromise. This may take until Oct. 9 but what you'll have at the end of all this is a living arrangement you both can live with.

You can't believe the guy you're seeing is cutting you off in mid-sentence, putting himself ahead of the relationship and expecting you to make your schedule work with his. Is this a repeat of what you just went through or are men just built this way? Actually it's simpler than that. What we don't take care of in one relationship tends to follow us into the next one — kind of like a past life. You'll want to nip this in the bud before it gets out of hand. However, you'll notice that he's more solicitous, receptive and even nice. It's a sign of hope and something worth encouraging. But what's the point of all this if the fellow you're truly drawn to is left unmoved? It's time to find out where you two stand on the 27th. Lucky for you, these DIYs will help. The LEGO table keeps the LEGOs all in one place while your kids play, and the container is so adorable that your kids will actually want to put them all away when they're done. Watch this video, and get to building ASAP, Mom.

5 Bad habits you need to break if you want clear skin

$

A lot of things that can contribute to acne, and the last thing you want to do is make the problem worse. Unfortunately, I see a lot of people do just that without realizing it.

To help you avoid making similar mistakes, here are five of the most common skin care habits to break.

Using too many products

Many people think acne is a topical problem, so they rely solely on topical products. Products can help, but more doesn't mean better.

Acne-prone skin is often sensitive to products and ingredients. The more you use, the more breakouts you're likely to cause.

My tip: Keep to the basics. Use a gentle cleanser, a toner and a simple moisturizer. Use a spot treatment on occasion, and try to find products with as few ingredients as possible.

Constantly using harsh products

Still clinging to a topical solution, many people use harsh, aggressive products to fight acne.

Unfortunately, many of these products can cause inflammation in the skin, which triggers acne. These products leave skin vulnerable and less able to fight infection, and some products potentially causes as much acne as it treats.

My tip: Use milder products that promote healing, and save anything aggressive for occasional spot treatment.

Over-exfoliating

The upper layer of your skin protects your skin and maintains the water and oil balance. Constantly stripping away that outer layer can lead to skin vulnerability, irritation and inflammation — which won't help your acne.

My tip: Exfoliate no more than twice a week if you use a buffing exfoliator. If using a product that chemically exfoliates — such as with enzymes — use it for a few weeks, then take a week off. Always be extremely gentle if you have active acne.

Picking

Popping pimples has a lot of potential problems — and zero benefits.

The pore is already in a very delicate state, so popping it is likely to cause more damage and increase the likelihood of scarring. You may rupture the pore lining, pushing that "gunk" into the bloodstream, making the infection worse and irritating other pores around it. You could also permanently damage the pore opening, resulting in a larger pore that is more likely to have problems in the future.

My tip: Whenever you feel the urge to pop, try distracting yourself and doing something else with your hands. No joke, I used to kept bubble wrap in my bathroom so I could pop it instead of my pimples!

Analyzing every pore on your face

Another common habit for those with acne is constantly looking over every inch of skin. It's the first thing you do in the morning and the last thing before going to bed.

You may think it's helpful trying to decide if your skin is better or worse, counting how many new pimples showed up, debating if that pimple on your chin is bigger — but it's not.

Over-analyzing your skin can create stress and anxiety, and stress leads to breakouts. So in a way, by constantly paying attention to your acne, you're keeping it there.

My tip: Set a timer when you go into the bathroom that gives you just enough time to wash up. You'll be less likely to hang around the mirror and analyze your skin. If you cannot resist the urge, seriously consider covering the bathroom mirror for a while. I had to do that!

Breaking these habits and following my suggestions will go a long way in letting your skin heal and prevent you from sabotaging your skin care efforts.

"They're awesome and they've both been very, very humble and very excited to be part of the show, and Britney... we're going to have a lot of great surprises," Rodriguez said about the two new additions to the hit CW show's second season.

When E!'s Ryan Seacrest asked for spoilers from upcoming episodes, Rodriguez shut him down.

We learned back in August that Spears had landed a guest role on the show, which she confirmed with a tweet saying, "See u at the Marbella Hotel soon, @hereisgina @jaimecamil! Guest starring on one of my favorite shows EVER @CWJaneTheVirgin #DreamComeTrue"

Variety reported at the time that Spears will join the show on the fifth episode of the upcoming season.

"We are so thrilled that Rogelio’s ‘nemesis’ — Britney Spears — has agreed to appear on Jane the Virgin in episode 205," showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman said in a statement. "Personally, after hearing about their longstanding feud (from Rogelio’s point of view), we are eager to hear Ms. Spears’ side of the story, which we assume is quite different. #TeamBritney"

She continued, "It turns out she’s a real nemesis of Rogelio, but the quality of their interaction is in dispute of what Rogelio thinks and what Britney thinks."

2015 Emmys quotes: 13 Times stars discussed politics, women & diversity issues

It is also a night we often use to get a better idea of the way Hollywood feels about issues that are important to them. Some celebs use satire and comedy to poke fun at issues to help raise awareness, while others take a firm stand and place the writing clearly on the wall for the world to read.

However the stars let their feelings be known, there is one thing you can’t deny: This year's Emmys were chock full of political satire and strong statements about women and social issues.

1. Amy Schumer on the red carpet

We are lucky enough to be living in a day and age when Twitter often dictates what we are going to consider important, and the social media site latched onto Amy Poehler's Smart Girls movement this year with a vengeance. We were treated to some fantastic moments on the red carpet, which stemmed from #AskHerMore questions and the Smart Girls Twitter. Of course, Amy Schumer slayed:

2. Paula Leavy-McCarthy on the carpet

But by far the best #AskHerMore/Smart Girls moment came from Paula Leavy-McCarthy, who made a plea to stop appropriation and allow "those who have lived these stories to tell them."

3. Andy Samberg on racism

Host Samberg was the first to satirize one of the problems in Hollywood — a lack of diversity — by saying, "This is the most diverse group of nominees in Emmys history. So congratulations, Hollywood, you did it. Racism is over. Don't fact-check that."

Emmy's tweet 3

4, 5 & 6. Samberg on Cosby, Trump and Kim Davis

He also took shots at Bill Cosby, Donald Trump and the wage gap, but my favorite line of his was, "Paula Deen is on this season of Dancing With the Stars. But I gotta say — if I wanted to see an intolerant lady dance, I would have gone to one of Kim Davis's four weddings."

On Cosby: "I have to say, I'm so honored to join the proud ranks of past Emmy hosts. Incredible legendary people like Robert Blake and Bill Cosby? Oh no, I gotta get out of here. But seriously, between Bill Cosby, Jared Fogel and Robert Durst stealing that sandwich, not a good year for dudes who love hoagies."

On Trump: "Donald Trump, of course, is running for president, to the delight of uncles everywhere. I've got to say, sure Donald Trump seems racist... what else?"

On Davis:

7. Amy and Amy

Once the awards finally kicked off, we had a plethora of hot-button topics explored in beautiful, poignant, and often hilarious ways — like when Amy Schumer and Amy Poehler tried to break the internet by appearing on stage together (immediately starting a campaign to have them host the Emmys in 2016).

8. Jeffrey Tambor's acceptance speech

Things took a more serious tone when Jeffrey Tambor dedicated his Emmy win to the transgender community, saying, "Thank you for your stories, thank you for your courage, thank you for your inspiration. Thank you for letting us be a part of the change."

9. Jill Soloway on trans civil rights

Tambor was continuing the conversation started by Jill Soloway when she used her Emmy win to say, "We don’t have a trans tipping point yet. We have a trans civil rights problem, so go to tranquility.com and vote to pass the trans equality bill."

10. More Trump jokes from Julia Louis-Dreyfus

It wasn't just social issues that the stars brought to the table. There was no way, with a room full of the world's best comedians, we were going to get out of there without more Donald Trump jokes. Like when Julia Louis-Dreyfus said, "I think it would be appropriate at this moment to quote our political satire Veep, 'What a great honor it must be for you to honor me tonight.' Oh God, no! Donald Trump said that," adding, "It's getting trickier and trickier to satirize this stuff."

11. Twitter chimes in

Some times it wasn't Hollywood that was trying to further the conversation but Twitter chiming in with what they were seeing.

12. Ava DuVernay talks

We even got to hear from Selma director Ava DuVernay, expressing her thoughts about the potential history yet to be made.

13. Viola Davis makes Emmys history

And about that history making. We got to see Viola Davis make history as the first African American woman to win Best Actress in a Drama Series. Then we were treated to the most impressive speech of all when Davis said, "In my dreams and visions, I seemed to see a line, and on the other side of that line were green fields, and lovely flowers, and beautiful white ladies, who stretched out their arms to me over the line, but I couldn’t reach them no-how," Davis said, quoting Harriet Tubman. "Let me tell you something: the only thing that separates women of color from anyone else is opportunity. You cannot win an Emmy for roles that are simply not there."

And after a speech like that, there are no more words.

15 Inspiring life lessons teachers have passed on to their students

The millions of teachers in America help us do everyday things, from reading articles on the Internet to writing emails, to figuring out the right tip on a restaurant check (when in doubt, double the tax). But chances are there's one teacher whose lessons you carry with you today and have nothing to do with reading, 'riting or 'rithmetic.

SheKnows asked 15 women to share the inspiring lessons they learned from their teachers that have made their lives all the better.

1. "Cheat legally, because the answer to one question could be found in another." - Melanie

2. "What you do today will have an effect on tomorrow. He taught me to fight for what's right. So much so that I got it tattooed on me!" - Jessie

3. "Don't sacrifice tomorrow on the altar of today. First year of college, Professor Voss. I was terrified of his class because he was known to be very, very difficult. On the first day he told us that this was the best advice he could give us for our college careers and the choices we would make. It is one of the only specific things I remember from college, and the advice has served me well more times than I can count." - Naomi

4. "My eighth-grade history teacher taught me: Trust your gut; it's usually right." - Linda

5. "My principal said at my freshman orientation, 'If it's a reasonable request, do it.'" - Faith

6. "It's OK to be stupid, but you don't have to open your mouth and prove it" - Barbara

7. "A teacher once told me that they could open the door, but I have to want to walk through it." - Erin

8. "Happy people take risks." - Kathy

9. "Being fair is not giving each student the same, but giving each student what they need." - Tracy

10. "We are all the same on the inside, so don't judge by the outside!" - Jackie

11. "Being fair does not mean that things will be easy. One of my favorite teachers in middle/high school was definitely the toughest, but she was fair to everyone." - Patricia

12. "Live as much of your life in the 'here and now' as you possibly can because you can't change the past and you can't predict the future. The only thing you have control over is right now." - Melissa

13. "Consequences are real (gum on nose all day — thank God for Catholic school, and I actually mean that)." - Vera

14. "Be organized. It's the key to a successful life!" - Nicole

15. "I was in jazz band and my band director wanted me to take a solo to perform during one of the songs. I told him I didn't want it because it intimidated me [and] to give it to someone else who could really pull it off. And he kept pushing me to do it; he said something along the lines of, 'Even if you suck, at least you tried, and the room full of people watching you will respect you for that.'" - Kristine

8 Things you never knew about surrogacy

$
0
0

The practice of surrogacy is still rare, partially because we have a huge surrogate shortage in the U.S. "There are many international patients coming from countries where surrogacy is illegal to the U.S. to use surrogates," says Dr. Shahin Ghadir, fertility specialist at the Southern California Reproductive Center, which is only making our shortage worse.

That's probably why it's so hard to find reliable information about being a surrogate — it's hard to make heads or tails of what's going on, in no small part because parents don't often come out and talk about such a personal decision. The Counsel for Responsible Genetics confirmed in 2008 that there are no set surrogacy statistics available to the public, meaning there's no way to know exactly how many children have been born via surrogate. Modern Family Surrogacy Center says that an average of nine babies may be born to surrogates in each state in the U.S. every year. But considering how many celebrities announce the arrival of babies born thanks to a surrogate each year (Jimmy Fallon, Giuliana Rancic and Ellen Pompeo are just a few), the number seems to be even higher.

Certainly the demand for surrogacy is high — possibly even more so now that same-sex marriage has been legalized — but the process still isn't easy. Surrogacy laws are complex at best, with serious problems arising in international surrogacy cases that have made headlines. Close to half of the states in the U.S. don't have clear surrogacy laws established.

The only way to make sense of this mess and help the couples so desperate to start a family is by clearing up misinformation. If you have ever thought of being a surrogate, or if you are in need of a surrogate, here's what you're not being told.

1. There are different kinds of surrogacy

This brings us back to the made-for-TV-movie scenario, where surrogacy is presented as a one-size-fits-all solution. That's not the case. Staci Swiderski, co-founder of Family Source Consultants and surrogate user, says there is a distinct difference between a traditional and gestational surrogate. "One of the most common misconceptions that I often hear about being a surrogate is that she will be genetically-related to the child. Traditional surrogates utilize their own genetics (i.e., their own eggs), while gestational surrogacy... sees the embryo created with either the intended mother's genetics or an egg donor; or in some circumstances, a donated embryo could be utilized," says Swiderski.

2. The screening process is intense

Getting approved as a surrogate requires so much more than completing an online quiz. Sarah Harris, two-time surrogate and blogger at Oven Rental, says her first venture into surrogacy was far more complicated than she anticipated. Harris tells SheKnows: "When I first decided to become a surrogate, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I just knew I wanted to do something for a family that could not do it for themselves. I began looking online for surrogacy agencies, and while there are quite a few out there, one stuck out for me."

She continues, "I filled out their initial online questionnaire via their website. It was 10 pages long, asking questions, like: 'How old are you, how many kids do you have and why do you want to do this?' Then, questions like: 'How do you feel about selective reduction or terminating a pregnancy due to a chromosome abnormality such as Down syndrome or trisomy 18?' I was six months pregnant with my daughter when I applied and was pre-approved. When my daughter was a year old (the wait was due to breastfeeding), it was time for the matching process."

More: Three moms on why they don't regret terminating a pregnancy

3. You don't have to be young

It's common knowledge that a woman's fertility begins to decline at 35, but this may not hurt your chances of being a surrogate. Dr. Ghadir says this "magic number" does not apply to a surrogate since she is not donating her eggs. "As long as the surrogate is in good health, she can continue doing this up until the late 30s, even 39 years of age," says Dr. Ghadir.

Marla Neufeld Esq., legal chair of Greenspoon Marder’s Family Law practice group who used a surrogate, qualifies: "Some states have legal requirements for the qualifications of a surrogate (i.e., age). However, there are many practical and medical considerations to consider including, but not limited to, whether she has her own children and experienced an uncomplicated birth, lives in a stable and healthy environment with supporting family/friends, not receiving any form of governmental assistance and free of any criminal history."

More: Drinking during pregnancy deemed a no-no — again

4. There are perks

Surrogacy isn't the type of job you choose for the benefits, but a few perks don't hurt either. Compared to being an anonymous egg donor, Dr. Ghadir says the biggest benefit of being a surrogate is the freedom to form a relationship with the intended parents. He explains: "We have some parents that even pay for special diets, healthy diets, organic food and specific gynecologists to monitor the surrogates during the time that they are carrying their children."

5. You need a lawyer

The surrogacy red tape may be one of the biggest obstacles you face if you are interested in becoming a gestational carrier. Before you even think of sacrificing your body, you need to know your interests are protected. A reputable agency will provide you with a surrogacy lawyer, says Dr. Jane Frederick, reproductive endocrinology and infertility specialist and medical director of HRC Fertility. "This is to protect yourself and confirm that the agency you are working with is in compliance with state regulations and laws. Surrogacy lawyers help you avoid being taken advantage of," says Dr. Frederick.

Dr. Frederick describes a worst-case scenario that could benefit from legal protection: "Surrogacy is prohibited in Arizona. If surrogacy does occur, the state declares the surrogate as the legal mother, and if she is married, her husband is the legal father and they are entitled to custody of the child."

More: New childbirth pants bring body-shaming to the delivery room

6. Both parties have to agree

To enter into a successful surrogacy agreement, both parties have to feel comfortable — the surrogate and the intended parents. Neufeld describes her experience in choosing a surrogate after struggling with infertility for more than four years: "My husband and I interviewed multiple candidates before selecting our amazing surrogate. The first surrogate we disqualified based on moral differences. The second potential surrogate was excluded for she did not pass physical screening requirements. The third time was most delightfully the charm. Her husband and she were warm, friendly, positive and genuinely excited to help us expand our family."

From a surrogate's perspective, Harris says, "Matching with a couple is extremely sensitive for both parties. Based on my answers, my profile is reviewed and compared to other profiles of intended parents. Once there is preliminary legal clearance, such as comparing laws in the state in which the surrogate and intended parents live, we get each other's profiles for review. We are asked to take a few days and think about it, and if everyone agrees, we have a Skype meeting. If everything goes well from our Skype meeting, we are considered matched."

7. You don't get paid up front

Just like any other job, surrogacy fees are doled out in monthly payments — you don't get one lump sum with a positive pregnancy test. Harris explains that when working with an agency, payment is direct deposited, normally over nine months. "On my last surrogacy journey, I was compensated $27,000. The first payment was distributed once there was a confirmation of the heartbeat at six weeks, and the last payment was at 40 weeks. If I worked outside the home, there would be reimbursement for lost wages for all the requirements of a surrogate such as doctor's appointments, travel to and from the clinic for medical screening and transfers," she adds.

From the intended parent's perspective, Neufeld says, "Financial concerns are of paramount importance as surrogacy can range from $60,000 to $150,000. Some expenses include medical costs for [in vitro fertilization], medications, two attorneys (one to write the contract and one to review for the surrogate), surrogate agency fee, medical insurance for the surrogate and reasonable living expenses of the surrogate."

8. You don't always get attached

There's no mother on earth who could bear the thought of parting with her new baby, but surrogacy is a different ballgame, says Harris: You're going into it with both eyes open. Most surrogates prepare for the emotional risks and understand that a baby is simply "on loan." Harris says she never felt any attachment, comparing surrogacy to taking care of a baby for a friend. "The emotional connection is not there like it is when you carry your own child," she says.

Harris continues, "The birth for my last surrogacy journey was emotional, but not because I was sad. It was because I had set a goal for myself, and even though the pregnancy was mostly tolerable, the last few months and the birth were difficult. I accomplished my goal and the emotional side was seeing the parents finally get their baby. The one they had tried so long for."

Susan Sarandon morbidly predicts Pope Francis will be assassinated in America

The actress and political activist has gotten into hot water in the past for speaking out against former Pope Benedict XVI, whom she referred to as a Nazi, but she adores the much more liberal Pope Francis — and she has a dire prediction for the man.

Sarandon is afraid the pope, who visits New York City this week, will be murdered because of his progressive views.

“I think they’re going to assassinate him,” she told the New York Daily News. “I think he’s done some major, major cleansing of the whole system.

“I love this pope,” Sarandon said. “He’s humble… he doesn’t live in the palatial whatever. I think he’s a pope of the people.”

Someone she does not love is Donald Trump, but she does have an interesting take on his strange political popularity.

“I think people are really starved for something authentic and even though he has no idea specifically what he’s talking about. He speaks to the guy who wishes he could say, ‘Everything’s a mess, we’re tired of the machine, we’re tired of politics as usual...' I think it’s great that the Republicans have to figure out how to deal with him, it’s interesting.”

Look for Sarandon to costar with Nick Nolte in the upcoming Epix comedy Graves.

Zolciak sure does have a crazy schedule, but I think it is fair to say that her definition of an emergency medical procedure is slightly different than the average Joe’s definition of an emergency medical procedure.

But it's not all about her looks. The former Real Housewives star does mention that her busy schedule, especially since she began the nonstop filming schedule of DWTS, makes her miss her little babies tremendously. What shaving her head taught one woman about hair, society and herself

$

Samantha McGraw doesn't have cancer. She's isn't trying to make a social statement. She isn't into extreme looks. And yet a year ago she shaved her head bald. Why? She was inspired after hearing that Shailene Woodley, the actress who played Hazel in The Fault in Our Stars, really took the clippers to her own scalp to film the scene where cancer patient Hazel shaves her head.

"That just got me wondering how big of a change could shaving your head really be?” McGraw, who works as an event planner and substitute teacher, said in an interview with HelloGiggles. "How did that affect Shailene's life, and how was she treated?"

From red carpets to photo shoots, Woodley rocked short hair like a boss, but would it be so easy for your average girl to go bald? McGraw decided to find out by donating every inch of her shoulder-length hair and then buzzing her head. (She said it felt almost like breaking a nail — all sensitive, exposed skin.) To complete her project, she then documented her hair with a picture every day for a year, which she made into a video.

She was prepared for how it might change how others saw her but was surprised at how it altered how she saw herself. "Doing this really changed how I felt about myself,” she said. “I looked in the mirror and didn’t really feel pretty, I guess. I felt like I couldn’t hide behind my hair anymore. I felt naked.”

Hiding behind our hair is a sentiment I'm sure many of us can relate to; I know I've totally used my hair as a shield or distraction! But she quickly got past that and on to the daily business of living. She handled criticisms from strangers like a pro: When one woman said she must be a lesbian now, she promptly quickly fired back that hair doesn’t define sexual preference, and got used to styling it through the growing-out period.

It wasn't all social justice and sparkly headbands, though. And she wanted to make sure she shared the downs as well as the ups: "There were also some days when I would go to take my picture, and I didn’t feel like taking it because I kept looking miserable in the photos. But I didn’t want to fake a smile or anything. Those ended up looking worse. So I kept the grumpy or sad looking ones too, because not every day we have is a good day. We have some really awful days."

Experts say the average person's hair grows 1/4 to 1/2 inch a month, so somewhere between 4 and 6 inches a year. So by the time the year was up, McGraw's beautiful curls were just past chin length. But the real growth was inside. "I definitely without a doubt feel more confident with the way I look now. Like, out of this world more confident!" she explained, adding that she's considering cutting it all off again because she liked it so much.

In the end, I love this experiment for the reminder that we are not beautiful because of our hair (or any other feature), but because of the light inside each of us. And if cutting off your hair lets more of that light shine through, then that is an experiment worth trying. Here's to no more hiding behind hair, no matter what the length!

Though the fact that The View can't seem to keep its lineup in order has definitely raised some eyebrows and left many scratching their heads, the exit and entrance, and exit and re-entrance, of the panel members isn't even the most controversial topic the show has scratched since its 1997 inception.

Here's a look back at some of the things the hosts have done and said to get people heated.

After the hosts mocked Miss Colorado, who chose to do a monologue about her nursing skills during the 2015 Miss America pageant, nurses all over were hurt and outraged by the hosts' words. #NursesUnited began trending all over the Internet, but the women of The View didn't address the snafu or apologize until they began to lose sponsors.

Here's the apology, which, by the way, sounds more like a series of excuses than an apology.
