10 Weird and possibly unfair relationship deal breakers

$

0

1. He played too much putt-putt

not interested

Original Source

Who doesn't love putt-putt? At least 85 percent of the general population, but Liz's date hadn't gotten the memo. "He kept saying 'bro' and asking to play putt-putt," she said. "I just didn't understand the appeal of either of these things."

2. He made a scene

yelling

Original Source

Here's one of my own personal anecdotes: Loud talking in a quiet restaurant. Tone it down a notch, guys, you're hurting my eardrums and making a scene.

3. He had girl hands

tiny hands

Original Source

Feminine hands have ruined many a budding relationship. Two different women noted that they just couldn't get past their guys' tiny, cutesy girl hands. "It was like watching that Burger King commercial for mini burgers," said Katherine.

4. He thought he was his celebrity look-alike

big deal

Original Source

Katherine had apparently dated some real gems, because she added another quirk to her list of deal-breakers. "He kept telling me who he — and apparently others — thought his celebrity look-alike was," she said. "It was way ambitious, and he kept mentioning it."

5. He talks about my lips

awkward

Original Source

"Within five minutes of meeting my date, he tried to kiss me," said Elizabeth. His reason? "He said my lips were the softest he had ever seen!" Boundaries, dude. You crossed 'em.

6. He fidgeted with his arm brace

compulsive

Original Source

Somehow, this seems similar to the serious problem women have with girl hands. Wyndi's date had dainty wrists that he tried to protect with a brace, but it wasn't working for him. "He kept taking it off, and then putting it back on — off, on, off, on." Emotionally exhausting. Do you have dainty hands or not, bro?

7. He went to the bathroom way too often

so gross

Original Source

Here's another one of my own. While there's no need to feel embarrassed about a first-date bathroom visit, one guy I dated left me by myself at the symphony five times when nature called. Still no clue what that was about (and I didn't stick around to find out).

8. He wanted to take my picture too soon

do the creep

Original Source

Asking for a picture of your date is probably off-limits. "He asked to take pictures of me to keep on his phone after the third date," said SK's own Maria Mora. Creepy, much?

9. He was dating me to fulfill a fetish

disgusted

Original Source

Amanda's date revealed on their first date that he "always wanted to date a curly-haired girl so he could complete the circle." He was able to cross that off his list while she crossed him out of her life.

10. He wore jean shorts

jorts

Original Source

Sometimes, though, things work out against the odds. "My date showed up wearing jean shorts, Timberland boots and a braided leather belt. It wasn't 1995," said Laura. They've been happily married for eleven years.

RHONJ's Joe Giudice was just handed an unbelievable prison sentence

According to People magazine, Joe was given 41 months in prison for four counts with an additional 12 months for another count that will be served concurrently. The reality star will also serve two years of probation and pay Wells Fargo bank $414,000 immediately plus an additional $10,000 in fines.

RHONJ's Joe Giudice demands $30K from Bravo

U.S. District Court Judge Esther Salas reprimanded Joe and his wife, Teresa, for a "pattern of deception, dishonesty and concealment." It was an act she found to be "intentional."

Teresa's sentencing is expected to happen around 2 p.m. EST on Thursday. It has been established that if she is sentenced to prison, she will serve her term first and then Joe will head off to jail.

To add to their troubles, there is also a deportation case pending for Joe. Immigration services will not act until his sentence is completed. An alcohol program was also recommended for the patriarch of the family.

Amid all the drama, is RHONJ star Teresa Giudice pregnant?

The Bravo TV stars were charged in July 2013 on 39 counts of bank, mail, wire and bankruptcy fraud along with making false statements on loan applications. While they originally pleaded not guilty to the charges, they changed their plea in March.

The biggest concern for the troubled couple is their four young daughters: Gia, 13, Gabriella, 9, Milania, 8, and Audriana, 5. The stress of the case has taken its toll on the family, which has been documented on Season 6 of RHONJ.

I got married at 17 to a man I met in a chat room

I was home schooled and bored and always on the internet back when you snuck into chat rooms and started conversations with "a/s/l?" Most of the people in the chat room I went into were older, in their 30s, and dealing with their own issues they were trying to escape from. My husband was 15 and British. It was a quick and obvious obsessive crush for a preteen American girl.

We chatted often — I almost always started the conversations and he remained disinterestedly aloof. I was in love. Sometime after we'd been chatting online for a while we figured out how to set up microphones on our glacially slow dial-up internet. Then we figured out webcams and I stared smittenly as his image would load, freeze, speed up, freeze again, crash entirely.

We swapped phone numbers. My parents bought me long-distance calling cards so we could chat with each other. I started going to public school. I moved to a new state. I started high school. He started talking about coming to visit.

Online chatroom husband | Sheknows.com

And then in June 2007 he flew by himself to the U.S. to visit me for my 16th birthday. We pretended not to see each other at the airport. My mom small talked with him the whole way home while I stayed mute. "Am I not what you expected?" he asked. It was just weird, meeting this person who had only ever existed digitally. "I'll go get on webcam in the other room if that helps," he said.

He was in the U.S. for two weeks. We spent a lot of time at the 24-hour Denny's down the street. He learned to like ranch dressing on his salads. He read books over my shoulder for long afternoons. We played cards. We went to San Diego and had to slather him in SPF 50. He asked me to be his girlfriend in a coffee shop on Adams Avenue and when my mom drove him to the airport, an hour and a half away, I cried into his lap in the back seat the whole way. He left for six months and then came back to the U.S. for three months. We both cried when he left.

When he came back again, six weeks later, we decided to get married. It was July. I was 17. I was headed into my senior year in high school. I figured just about as much as anybody that we were completely insane. But worst case scenario meant we would get divorced, and that seemed a reasonable risk. The first year, when I wasn't at school or work, we argued. The second year I started college and we argued less. The third year it was generally pleasant and we moved out of my Mom's house, to Phoenix, so I could go to the university.

Now we've been married for six years. I'm through college, we both have jobs we like and I think we're just as surprised as anyone. Sometimes you luck out. Sometimes two stubborn people give each other just enough room to grow and you end up growing into each other. We both bristle at the idea of calling this our "love story." It's just our lives, and we've figured out how to spend them together — so far.

The itchy reason Jennifer Garner missed the wedding of the year (VIDEO)

In a visit to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the mom of three relayed a story about her kids coming down with a case of lice.

Jennifer Garner: I don't remember who I was before kids

She shared, "We all got lice. It's making me itchy just to talk about it. This was years ago. It's not right now. I'm totally fine right now."

The actress offered up how her family handled the outbreak.

"They have people like the Lice Lady, and they come over and they comb painstakingly through your hair, and then they put something on your hair... It looks like the put Crisco in your hair but you smell a little bit like a mixture of sulfur and rosemary," Garner said. "And you do it every day for a month!"

The Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day star then explained the most horrifying part of the whole ordeal: having to meet Clooney after a lice treatment.

"Actually, the first time — the only time! The only time our family had this problem, it was a day I had been combed through. I was getting the kids happy while they did them and whatever. Ben had gone early and he'd showered. He came out and he said, 'Hey, um, there's a party. I wanna go. Let's go.' And I said, 'I can't. I need to shower.' I mean, I'm in, like, cargo pants. I'm nasty in a thousand [ways]. He's like, 'Come on! I mean, we have a babysitter. I want you to come with me.'"

Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck have a sexy stack of Polaroids

That's when the Clooney encounter happened.

Garner recalled, "We show up and the first person I see is George Clooney, and I'd never met George Clooney. I was kind of like, 'Ah, he's so handsome! Like, oh, my god!' So, I see him and I walk up to him and I'm chatting with him, just trying to act like it's cool... and I can see that he smells me, you know? But he's trying to be polite."

So the former Alias star has a pretty strong theory as to why her invite got lost in the mail.

She laughed, "So, anyway, people keep asking why we weren't at George's wedding and we were both 'working' but I think he didn't want Licey there. He's like, 'No, we don't need the Afflecks. We're OK!'"

I need to stop hating how I look for my daughter

$

I wasn't always the messy-haired, overweight, frumpy, dumpy, pile of withering self-esteem you see before you. At times in the past 44 years I have been beautiful. Model beautiful. Catcall beautiful. Picture-perfect and readily photographed beautiful. But something changed along the way, between having three kids, a hysterectomy, cultivating some wrinkles and grey hair and stretch marks and adult acne and brittle nails and less-than-perfect teeth and a wardrobe that can only be described as "laundered" — my body image has taken a total nosedive. And my kids know it. Because when my daughter — my beautiful, joyous, smart and sweet daughter — tells me I look pretty, I correct her. And I think a lot of moms do the same.

"You look pretty, Mommy."

"Oh, I do not. I am fat. I look old. I hate my hair."

Stop me if you've heard this song before. Or if you have sung it yourself.

The saddest part about this song is that when we sing it — and I know we do, whether it be out loud or hummed quietly to ourselves when we pass a mirror — we are teaching it to our daughters, which is sadly and truthfully illustrated in this new Dove ad.

Dove Legacy

Dove Legacy

I think it's important we remember our daughters mimic us. To them, we are the most important role model they have, and they look to us for how they view themselves. We are, at times, their mirror. I never want my girl growing up to hear all the negative things I tell myself, either out loud or when I scowl when I look in the mirror. I want her to know how truly beautiful she is, which means I have to start seeing myself as beautiful. I may no longer be as physically attractive as I once was. But like the little girl in the video, I love my face because it is smiley. I love my arms because they are capable of giving excellent hugs. I love my eyes because they are as blue as they ever were, and they let me see all the people around me that I love.

I think that's a far better message to give my girl than the ones she has heard from me so far.

Amanda Bynes busted for another DUI

1. She retweets tons of posts from others about Amanda Bynes — but only the really sucky-uppy ones

It's classic Bynes egotism: She loves it when people talk about her, and retweets it all so everyone knows.

Amanda Bynes select retweets

2. She loves to throw around Bynes' favorite insult: "You're ugly!"

Back in the heyday of Bynes' infamous Twitter feuds, her go-to insult was always a slam about someone's appearance. According to Bynes, Drake looks like he has Down syndrome, Chris Brown beat Rihanna because she's not pretty enough and the Obamas are too hideous to rule. This new account falls back on the same tired taunt.

3. She knows denial ain't just a river in Egypt

Every time a new photo or story would surface about her increasingly erratic behavior, Bynes would immediately hop on Twitter to say it wasn't her and the media was lying — apparently trying to convince us she has an evil doppelganger and the media has an axe to grind. This new account is the same old song and dance.

4. Like Bynes, her modesty knows no bounds (cue eye roll)

One problem Bynes does not seem to struggle with is self-esteem, as evidenced by her constant stream of tweets about how rich, gorgeous and generally amazing she is (if she does say so herself). @PersianLa27 also really, really loves herself. Like, a lot.

It was all about the gay sex during last night's Shondaland

You have to adore Shonda Rhimes and her ability to get fans all hot and bothered. The latest installments of her three hit shows had viewers singing her praises on Twitter and we feel the need to join in. When you watch a series created by Rhimes, you know that you can expect people of all different races and sexual orientations to come together.

The 5 greatest moments of the Scandal Season 4 premiere

Last night's episodes were no different. While it was light on the lovemaking, Grey's Anatomy did deliver the message once again that interracial adoption is a beautiful thing. It's wonderful to see Zola growing up and becoming a gorgeous little girl before her doting parents, Meredith and Derek.

Taking things up a few notches was the latest episode of Scandal. With a title like that, there's always something naughty happening in the shadows and this episode was no different. First, there was some very hot interracial sex (thank you, Olivia and Jake) that involved a super-sexy pair of boots. Before fans could cool down, they were treated to some gay foreplay between Cyrus and his male prostitute, Michael. A man being seduced by a prostitute so that an enemy can gain control is nothing new, but leave it to Rhimes to give it a gay twist.

Ready for Shondaland Thursdays? Not without our drinking game!

Finally, there was more man-on-man action in the second episode of How to Get Away with Murder. Connor was practically seduced in front of the entire class when Keating's newest client took him to bed and reenacted a murder scene. Apparently, Connor needed a little, ahem, release after that because he later sought out his IT boyfriend Connor and had a little fun of their own.

After all the hotness, the Twitterverse exploded with approval.

Scandal's Shonda Rhimes is just as excited as we are for Shondaland Thursdays

Will Rhimes set a new trend with her willingness to present love in all its various forms? While there are a few shows on network TV that are as free with their love, not many present it to the extent that Shondaland Thursdays does. While European series such as Dr. Who are as progressive, what will it take for the U.S. to follow suit?

What did you think of the gay and interracial love on the latest installment of Shondaland Thursday?

Spirit Halloween scared me to pieces and then warmed my heart with their awesome charity work

Scary dolls | Sheknows.com

I adore Halloween. I love decorating my house, dressing up my kids and eating handing out candy to children. And I also adore Spirit Halloween stores, not only because they are super fun to visit to get in the Halloween spirit, but also because of their amazing Spirit Of Children charity, which brings fun and charity to kids in hospitals and at Halloween all year long. All Halloween season, Spirit collects donations and hosts Halloween celebrations in children's hospitals throughout the country. In addition to parties, they have also raised money to purchase things like laptops and educational toys designed specifically for children with physical challenges. Donations are accepted in stores until Nov. 1 and online here all year-round. Lauren Hann, Spirit Of Children project manager, had this to say:

"The Child Life Departments in our partner hospitals use the funding we provide for a myriad of tools and resources to improve the quality of life for the pediatric patients and their families during their hospital stay including distraction toys to cope with stressful treatments, medical education dolls, equipment and toys designed specifically for children with physical challenges, music therapy and rehabilitative art programs, and much more."

It's so wonderful that hospitalized kids can also enjoy Halloween, and my own kids are currently terrified of these hilariously creepy animatronic dolls Spirit sent my way. The roaming antique doll that utters spooky phrases and looks like she is floating, the Decrepitrudy animated doll who wants to play with you forever and the evil rag doll who is sewing her own mouth shut. I cannot wait for Halloween night and for all the kids who darken my doorway.

I am such a fan of DK Books, and one of the best things about them is that they are fun for adults to read too. Now, I know some of you with older kids like I have think there is no point in reading to kids when they are reading on their own, but some of the best conversations I have had with my own kids are by reading something together with them. DK Books have awesome facts, gorgeous illustrations and can provoke many conversations between you and your kids, even if they are a little too big to sit on your lap.

Turn doughnuts into a creepy, no-bake vampire treat

Creepy vampire doughnuts recipe

I'll be honest here: I am not a baker. In fact, I hate baking. I truly despise it. I think my main reason is that with baking, sticking to a solid recipe is a must, whereas with cooking, you have the freedom to go with the flow. That said, I was cruising around the net and came across this idea on Pinterest, and I had to try it out. I love the fact that these are no-bake and that you can swing by your favorite doughnut shop and just grab some fresh doughnuts for this idea. These are simple, cute and perfect for those who don't care to bake but want something that really stands out on the dessert table.

Creepy vampire doughnuts recipe

Creepy vampire doughnuts recipe

Adapted from Pinterest

Even non-bakers can make an impressive and cute little treat for Halloween. Just pick up a dozen store-bought doughnuts and some plastic fake teeth to make these funny but eerie no-bake vampire treats.

Yields 12

Prep time: 20 minutes | Inactive time: 20 minutes | Total time: 40 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 12 pairs plastic fake vampire teeth
  • 1 dozen doughnuts (I used glazed doughnuts)
  • 24 mini candy eyes (or white and black decorating gel)
  • Red decorating gel

Directions:

  1. Take a pair of the vampire teeth, and hold them closed.
  2. Gently place the teeth in the center of a doughnut, and then carefully allow the teeth to open. Wiggle the teeth so that they fit perfectly into the center of the doughnut, and place the doughnut onto a serving plate.
  3. Repeat with the remaining doughnuts and vampire teeth until all the vampires are made.
  4. For each pair of vampire eyes, lightly moisten the backs of 2 candy eyes, and gently press them to the doughnut so they stick. If using the black and white decorating gels to make the eyes, then first place 2 drops of white gel onto each doughnut, followed by a smaller drop of black gel directly onto each white gel eye.
  5. Use the red decorating gel to draw blood around the teeth of the doughnuts.
  6. If desired, use the black gel to draw a widow's peak onto each doughnut or on random doughnuts.
  7. Allow the gel to dry about 20 minutes, and serve.

Kendra Wilkinson finally tells us the truth about the cheating scandal

Caught off guard

Less than five months ago, Wilkinson and Baskett were at the hospital celebrating the arrival of their beautiful baby girl, Alijah Mary. Five weeks later, the couple's world was turned upside down when allegations surfaced that Baskett slept with a transsexual model while Wilkinson was 8 months pregnant with Alijah.

Kendra Wilkinson details her moves following scandal

And, if you caught tonight's season premiere of Kendra On Top, you know the family has some major hurdles to overcome.

According to Wilkinson, who says she's just taking it "one day at a time," opting to air the last few very emotional months in the life of her family came naturally.

"I've lived the last 10 years of my life on camera, so I don't think it's fair or truthful to only show the good without the bad," she said. "Ups and downs are a part of life, and I've always made it a point to be authentic."

Until now, the "ups" have far outweighed the "downs" in Wilkinson and Baskett's six years together. When the couple met in March of 2008, they hit it off instantly and began dating soon after. They were engaged by the fall and married the following summer in a stunning ceremony.

Then, in December of 2009, Wilkinson and her NFL pro husband welcomed a son, Hank Baskett IV, into the world. Theirs was seemingly a charmed life — the fairy-tale romance of reality TV. When the couple learned earlier this year they would be adding a daughter into the mix, Wilkinson says she felt as though all of her dreams had come true.

So when the news broke that Baskett had allegedly stepped out on his wife while she was 8 months pregnant, Wilkinson was understandably blindsided.

The aftermath

Wilkinson, who is always refreshingly candid, admits that there have probably been instances since the news broke when she could — or perhaps should — have filtered her thoughts. "But whatever I said, I felt at the moment," she shared. "So I was being me."

Still, skeptics are already coming forward, claiming the affair and ensuing drama weren't authentic, but rather a publicity stunt.

Wilkinson's response? "Who would be crazy enough to do that? You can't write this shit! We're a real family, and all of this happened in real life to us," she said.

Don't worry about Kendra Wilkinson, she'll come out on top

Not everyone is a cynic, though. Wilkinson has gotten an overwhelming amount of feedback from women who recognize how brave it is for her to share her story. "It's been so encouraging," she said.

"I just want to say that no one really knows the story unless they are living it. So I get why so many people tell me 'Leave him!' but it's not that simple," she elaborated. "I don't mind taking my time, because I don't want to make a rash decision that will affect the rest of my kids' lives."

Where do we go from here?

That much is clear — Wilkinson and Baskett are committed to protecting their kids and making sure they maintain some sense of normalcy.

"[Little Hank]'s in three different sports right now, so we make sure that both parents are still there, and that he grows up with two loving parents. When you have kids, they become your biggest priority," Wilkinson said.

As for where she and Baskett stand, Wilkinson isn't nearly so certain. When asked if her husband has given her his side of the story yet, Wilkinson responds, "He denies it. I'm still figuring it out."

To that end, they are trying. Wilkinson and Baskett attend couples therapy and additionally, Basket attends therapy on his own. And Wilkinson is leaning on her faith and friends for support as well.

"I've been praying a lot," she said. "I think it's important to find out what you need for yourself in challenging times in your life. I also have the best group of friends who have been really supportive."

A revealing new season

But as they say, the show must go on — quite literally, in Wilkinson's case. Because they were wrapping filming of the third season when the allegations against Baskett surfaced, Wilkinson couldn't contractually step out of the spotlight.

Judging by this season's trailer, though, the couple's future is uncertain at best. When pressed about whether she and Baskett can truly move past this, Wilkinson uncertainly offers, "We'll see, I guess."

Did Hank Baskett really cheat? 5 revealing clues dissected

Still, as we all know from watching Wilkinson over the years, where she goes fun generally follows. Although much of her eponymous show this season will naturally be centered on the affair and its inevitable fallout, Wilkinson hints that there's much, much more to come.

"Everything!" she teased when asked what we can expect to see in Season 3. "You see the birth of my sweet baby girl Alijah, you see all of the craziness as it's unfolding with this event and some other surprises along the way."

RAINN, NSVRC really hate Adam Levine right now

7 Times Maroon 5's new video for "Animals" creeped us out

The disturbing video features Adam Levine as a butcher who stalks his "prey," as she is called in the song lyrics — played by his real-life wife Behati Prinsloo — following her in the street and spying on her as she sleeps, while fantasizing about seducing her as buckets of blood pour over their nude bodies.

Watch the video for Maroon 5's "Animals"

Maroon 5 'Animals'

Maroon 5 'Animals'

Gross. And the Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network (RAINN) thinks so too, accusing the band of promoting rape culture by glamorizing a heinous crime.

"Maroon 5's video for 'Animals' is a dangerous depiction of a stalker's fantasy — and no one should ever confuse the criminal act of stalking with romance," Katherine Hull Fliflet, the vice president of RAINN said in a statement. "The trivialization of these serious crimes, like stalking, should have no place in the entertainment industry."

Adam Levine nails Eddie Vedder with "The Muffin Man" (VIDEO)

The National Sexual Violence Resource Center (NSVRC) agrees, saying the video objectifies women as nothing more than a literal piece of meat.

"The lyrics to Maroon 5's 'Animals' convey aggressive, intrusive behavior and paint women as prey," said NSVRC in a statement. "While many will chalk this up to being 'just a music video,' it's still harmful because it reinforces stereotypes of male dominance and sexual entitlement, which we know have real-life consequences."

Get it, guys? Sexual violence is never sexy.

She documents her travel tricks and successes on her blog, Mommy Points, which has opened doors to VIP experiences and even earned her extra income because she uses it to advertise travel-related services and deals."

Summer's family travel plan of action is working. She has taken her family on more than 16 vacations around the world, totaling at 100,000 miles. Because of her travel points and travel blogging, all vacation expenses are kept to a minimum.

Summer is gaming the system, and you can too. Some finance experts caution against the lure of shiny plastic, but credit card rewards can be used for good if you are responsible with your finances. Translation: Don't max out your credit cards just to get a free flight, and don't open a rewards card you can't handle.

If you think you can manage a rewards credit card without draining your bank account, follow Summer's rule to get the most out of your line of credit. Don't sign up for just any credit card — sniff out the cards with the best sign-up bonuses.

Summer has more than a dozen active credit cards that she juggles to rack up the points and cash in on lucrative sign-up bonuses. She says, "These banks want you to have their cards and I'm happy to get their card and take their miles and points and use them and travel the world."

Did The Voice make the right decision in hiring Taylor Swift?

TSwift does another amazing thing for kids with cancer (VIDEO)

NBC confirmed today that Taylor Swift will be joining The Voice to take on the role of adviser during the knockout rounds. She'll take over the job from Coldplay's Chris Martin, who did it last year, and she'll make her debut on Oct. 27, which, coincidentally, happens to be the release date for her new album, 1989. So, not only should you expect to see her on The Voice, but we're sure there will be plenty of morning show and late-night appearances as well to help promote her album.

For The Voice haters: That means if you want to skip the singing competition but still get in plenty of time with TSwizzle, there will be plenty of opportunity to do so. Of course, we think The Voice is fun. We love watching Blake Shelton and Adam Levine's love/hate relationship unfold. And it's exciting to see Gwen Stefani back in action. At the end of the day, it's still another singing competition where the talent can range anywhere from terrible to brilliant — sometimes over the course of just one song. So, we understand if that's not your scene, and you don't have to suffer through it.

PHOTO: Taylor Swift is a walking meme of herself

But the bigger question might just be: Is Swift really the adviser these people need? Her awards show performances are often shaky — or, as a judge from another singing competition would say, "It's a little pitchy, dawg." And, at 25, she's still just so young. How much could she possibly have to offer? The truth is: A lot. Swift has been doing her thing for nearly a decade now. She's not only grown up in the spotlight, but she's also managed to successfully jump genres. That's kind of a big deal. Not everyone is capable of that, but she's done it nearly flawlessly. So, actually, our girl Swift might be the absolute best adviser The Voice has offered up.

What do you think? We know Swifties are just excited to see her shine anywhere and everywhere. But do you think she has the chops to lead a gaggle of wannabe stars? Tell us below.

An awesome love story that condones stealing and stalking

Then he walked in.

Dark hair, tan skin and a sexy smile — I'd never seen him before, and I was surprised such a stud had come to the facility — the neighborhood pools tended to attract the under-13 and over-50 types — not exactly "datable" demographics. I could not let this opportunity pass by.

So I smiled at him... and he kept walking.

Not easily dissuaded, I put on my best hip-shaking strut as I walked between stands, and smiled again as he did gainers off the high dive.

Again, he ignored me.

He left the pool that day, and I was bummed. I wanted a summer romance, and had come up dry for months. Throughout the next week I reported to work, hoping he would waltz through the gates. Just when I was about to give up, there he was — this time, limping.

As he limped past my stand, I skipped the (clearly ineffective) smile, and instead asked what happened. "Baseball," was the short response I received, and I took it as a clear indication he wasn't interested. But then I heard... "So, do you like to swim?"

I laughed, "I'm a lifeguard — what do you think?" And as he fumbled for a response, I eased up and asked him about baseball.

The conversation flowed, and we continued talking throughout the afternoon. I didn't want it to end, so even after my shift was over, I kept pretending to work. That is, until my jerk of a coworker pointed out, "You can go home now — your shift's been over for an hour." I left, and my mystery man didn't ask for my phone number.

After driving home and replaying the afternoon in my head, I knew it was time to take action. I drove back to the pool and riffled through the facility's records, hoping the guy was a day pass holder. You see, day pass holders had to leave their names and phone numbers at the desk, and even though I knew it was against facility policy to use the information for personal reasons, I didn't care. If it was there, I was going to steal it.

I was in luck! I stole his information and promptly drove home to stalk him. I found out where he lived, I found his baseball stats from the previous year, I learned that he went by his middle name rather than his first name, and even learned where he went to church.

I obsessed over this information, even going as far as driving by his house. (I deserve a pass on this one — I was 18 and bored.)

And finally, after a week, I called him with the lamest excuse ever — to ask about a program at his church, which in fairness, I knew he probably didn't attend. In fact, after I asked, he said, "I don't know. You know you could call the church to ask, right?"

Cue the awkward silence.

Right before I hung up, he said, "How was your week?" And we were off.

Our first date was a week later, and once we started dating, we were inseparable. We had five dates in the first week, and at the end of the first week we said "I love you." After a month, we started talking about marriage.

Lance and Laura love story

It was fast, but not easy — I moved away for college, and our first year of dating was long distance — but we kept at it, and knew deep down, there was an unexplainable bond between us. Almost exactly three years after meeting, we were married, and this past July, we celebrated our 11th wedding anniversary.

In my life, every time I've followed my gut and broken the rules, it's ended well. So go ahead and stalk your crush, steal his information, say "I love you" too soon, and sashay into marriage at the absurdly young age of 21. Sometimes breaking all the rules is the only way to make a happy ending.

Now it’s your turn! Tell us your love story for a chance to win $500. You can share it on Twitter using #TheBestofMe and tagging @sheknows before October 10, 2014.

Charlie Sheen has some vicious words for 'lying' dental technician

Charlie Sheen goes full-on warlock in the dentist's chair

The Anger Management star's rep and lawyer have both already called the allegations "completely false," but Sheen wanted to have the last word on the whole situation and has put his accuser on blast.

Sheen allegedly told TMZ that the dental technician is a "jobless, washout traitor."

However, those were just some of his choice words, as Sheen went on to vent his frustrations through TMZ with this message: "Hey cholesterol pants: Maybe you should have taken the crack you so brazenly and ignorantly accused me of being on, and sold it! Now that you're a jobless washout and a traitor, you're gonna need the extra dough ... lick those food stamps, you desperate troll. C."

Finally, an answer! Will Charlie Sheen be returning for Two and a Half Men's final season?

In case you missed it the first time around, according to TMZ, the dental technician reportedly accused Sheen of going crazy while in the dentist's office and she claimed that his bodyguards told her he was on "rock cocaine." She also claimed that Sheen pulled a knife on his dentist, a claim that the dentist himself denies.

Furthermore, according to TMZ, Sheen's lawyer Marty Singer said the dental technician made up these rumors because she was fired for violating privacy regulations.

"The story is being made up by this woman who was fired on Friday for violating HIPAA by telling her son Charlie was in the office. It got back to Charlie and the dentist fired her."

Charlie Sheen has harsh words for Ashton Kutcher

However, it seems that Sheen has found a way to deal with any future dentist drama, because his personal dentist Kevin Sands has just become his neighbor.

Apparently, Sands has moved in to Sheen's ex-wife Denise Richards' old home in Mulholland Estates, Beverly Hills, California. But don't be fooled into thinking that it was the same dentist that he allegedly pulled a knife on last Thursday.

Sheen's rep, Jeff Ballard, told RadarOnline, "Charlie's personal dentist, Dr. Kevin Sands, did indeed buy the house. This will make them neighbors. Dr. Sands wasn't the dentist that Charlie went to see last Thursday, because he wasn't available. Dr. Sands is an amazing dentist and a first-class guy. Having him as a neighbor will certainly help Charlie in case of future dental emergencies."

Don't even think about photoshopping Rumer Willis

Will we also see Rumer Willis protest topless? We think not

Bruce Willis and Demi Moore's daughter revealed to Elle.com that she was very unhappy to learn that her pictures had been photoshopped without her consent.

"There were these photos from the [Franziska Fox] lookbook I shot that were photoshopped. They photoshopped my face and my body, and I wasn't OK with it. I didn't approve it," Rumer revealed. "I was like, 'You know what? That's not the kind of thing I want to be putting out there.' Girls who look at this shouldn't feel like they have to change themselves or have some weird ideal that you have to be photoshopped to look good or look perfect. I really want to set a good example."

Rumer wants the women of the world to know that you should accept who you are, and be proud of your body. And she credits her sister Scout for standing up for what she believes in, as seen in her nipple protest.

"I like that my sister did that [because] you have to be accepting of who you are and what you have going on," she explained. "I learned an interesting lesson from all this and I have to be much more specific and say, 'Look, this is who I am. If you want me to be a part of what you're doing, these are the things I live by.' Don't slim my arms down — I worked really hard to get them to look this strong," she told the publication.

Talking about her sister's nipple protest, Rumer went on to praise Scout for how brave and outspoken she is.

It's over! Rumer Willis and Jayson Blair call it quits

"She didn't tell me she was doing it beforehand. But my sister Scout is very gutsy. She's probably one of the most brave and outspoken people that I know. I commend her for finding something and taking a stand."

Reflections on 'parenthood religion' are spot on — and I'm terrified

Parenting is a different experience for everyone, but the essay How American parenting is killing the American marriage definitely hit the nail on the head when it likened parenting to religion in our society — and our marriages are suffering for it. For me, being a mom isn't just what I do; it's who I am, and I don't want it to ruin a perfectly good love affair with my husband.

Parenting changes your marriage unlike any way you'd ever expect. Honestly, it seems most disagreements are centered around our kids. While the bond between Mommy, Daddy and children is there, when it comes to picking teams, I find myself always putting my kids ahead of my husband. And I feel awful for it.

Now, you're probably thinking you've heard it a million times before: Make your marriage a priority once kids are added to the mix. But with the divorce rate rising for couples ages 50 years and older, it's a lot easier said than done. In a society of helicopter parenting and martyr mommying, it's not a far stretch to agree that the parenting religion is at the root of many neglected marriages. Tending to your marriage has become faux pas.

After I had my "oh my gosh this is me" moment and shed a few tears for the desire to make a change, a light bulb went off — calling it a religion isn't bad at all. Although admitting you worship any other god over your children will get you burned at the stake like Ayelet Waldman, I say you don't have to choose one over the other.

Although the reflections on the parenthood religion are spot on and I'm still terrified, perhaps the parenting religion movement can actually do us some good. Plenty of faiths put marriages hand in hand with your religion of choice, so it's possible for parenting to be the same, right? So instead of prioritizing marriage before parenting or putting my kids before my husband, I will continue to seek balance and have the best of both worlds — or at least do my best to do so.

Kanye West flips out after being booed at Paris Fashion Week

However, recent reports have been circulating that suggest that Kardashian has been a neglectful mother, and that she even forgot her little daughter in her Paris hotel room while she was on the way to the airport.

According to the New York Daily News, on Wednesday, Oct. 1, Kardashian was shown in a video — posted by French celebrity site Storm Shadow — as she was leaving her lavish Paris hotel. The star then reaches her SUV and then she looks back like she has forgotten something, so she heads back to the hotel, only to return moments later with her daughter.
