Newly divorced Katharine McPhee is dating her co-star

Katharine McPhee caught cheating with Smash director!

McPhee was caught red-handed, and although she and her husband tried briefly to make their marriage work, the actress eventually filed for divorce in May of this year. But the American Idol alum has clearly now moved on with her life and into the arms of another man, her co-star.

We thought McPhee and Scorpion co-star Elyes Gabel looked rather cozy together, and now we know that's because they are apparently dating behind the scenes, Us Weekly reports.

Katharine McPhee files for divorce from husband Nick Cokas

McPhee and her British beau were photographed kissing between takes on their latest project, CBS drama Scorpion, back in August, and the actress happily grabbed Gabel's butt while leaning into him and kissing his neck.

And that passion clearly has not died because apparently the pair were big on the PDA recently when they attended a private premiere of their show at a club in Warwick in Hollywood, California, on Monday.

Katharine McPhee & more cheating celebs caught in the act

A source revealed to the mag that they, "were inseparable and got cozy all night." The Smash alum apparently was in a very good mood and was even dancing around the club with her friends during the commercial breaks.

Oh, and did we mention that the World War Z actor is single? So, no cheating scandal this time around.

An approved list of things that can go in the vagina

$
0
0

This, of course, isn’t the first time women have been caught smuggling strange things in their vaginas. A woman in Tennessee was found with a loaded gun in her vagina. A woman in Oklahoma used hers as a carrying case for her pot pipe. Then, there was the woman in the UK who lost her cell phone: When authorities placed a call to it, a nearby woman’s vagina started ringing. Mhmm.

Here's the thing: Yes, your vagina is a magical being, but it is not a tote bag. No, you don't have to worry about "misplaced" objects taking a stroll to other parts of your body, but that doesn't mean you should make stuffing yourself like a Thanksgiving turkey a thing. Depending on the object, it could mess with your vagina’s pH balance and irritate/injure your skin, which can then lead to various bacterial and yeast infections.

So, what can you put in your vagina? Welp, not to sound old fashioned, but if it ain't broke, don't fix it:

1. Fingers

Clean fingers, smooth nails. Pretend there's a "No Germs Allowed" clubhouse sign before anything enters.

2. Sex toys

Just make sure they're made of FDA-approved silicone. Word on the street is the jelly rubber ones can develop nicks where microbes may grow (even after you wash it, eek!), which may expose you to an infection the next time you use it.

3. A penis

It $12,000 on the black market, but to you? Priceless. (As long as he's not wearing a flavored condom, since they're intended for oral sex only. Anything flavored or scented is your vagina's kryptonite, so steer clear.)

4. Lube

As long as your lube isn't oil based. Oil-based lubes don't wash away easily, which can lead to a bacterial infection. Stick with unscented, water-based lubricants.

5. (Some) Foods

Spreadable and pourable foods are strictly for external use only — really, all foods should be. The acidity in some foods can irritate your skin and screw with your pH balance, which is a total buzzkill. If he insists on playing Marco Polo, make sure you're using solid foods — and make sure he Polos! One OB-GYN reported to Redbook that she's pulled countless cherries, grapes and even macadamia nuts from her patients' vaginas — and what's alarming (but equally hilarious) is that they had no idea the food was still in there.

Celeb Hairstyle of the Week: Cate Blanchett

When we first saw this 'do, we thought we were in for one of her go-to (and always elegant) updos, but we were pleasantly surprised when we saw this style had a twist! The slightly messy yet totally contained braid is a fun way to wear your hair up without reverting to a boring old bun.

Want to steal Cate's hairstyle? You're in luck. We got award-winning hairstylist Riccardo Maggiore of New York City's famous Riccardo Maggiore Salon to offer some tips for doing just that.

Celeb Hairstyle of the Week: Cate Blanchett

Get the look

"Cate Blanchett has a very elegant and chic sense of style and this hairstyle reflects that," Riccardo says.

  1. You will need to add texture to your hair before starting the braid so that it will stay in place. You can add a styling product like Sebastian Professional Taming Elixir that will give the hair some grab.
  2. Split the hair in 2 sections, vertically.
  3. Start braiding the top section (you can also do a twist with 2 sections if this is easier for you than a braid). As you're braiding, begin to work the top section into the second section.
  4. Tiny clear elastics are best to use in a hairstyle like this to fasten the ends and stay invisible.
  5. Once the hair is braided and fastened, tuck the ends under with bobby pins (and also any flyaways) as close to the scalp as possible.
  6. If you have bangs, use a flat iron or blow dryer to keep them as tucked and clean as possible.
  7. Finish off with hairspray to keep everything in place.

Robert Pattinson rumored to be dating FKA twigs

Apparently, things between the Equals actress and her co-star Nicholas Hoult are heating up, and over the past few months, the pair are rumored to have been inseparable. So, is there a romance in the cards for these two?

According to Hollywood Life, something romantic may be going on here. The site reports that the pair have been spending a lot of time together both on and off the set of their new film, and they have apparently "really bonded with each other!"

KStew gives another expletive-filled interview about her life

"Kristen and Nick are inseparable. They are constantly hanging out together when they aren't on set. They've really bonded with each other and are like best friends now. It wouldn't surprise any if (sic) us if it turns into something more serious, something romantic," a source revealed to the publication.

"When Kristen is on location for long periods of time, she usually has a good friend come stay with her but not this time cause she has Nick. They love playing practical jokes on the cast and crew, playing pool, just exploring and hanging out."

Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult split?

We think Stewart and Hoult would make a great couple because they really do seem to have a lot of fun together! And even if it's just a great friendship between these two co-stars, we're glad they have found comfort in each other and that Hoult is not too heartbroken by his split from Jennifer Lawrence.

28 Songs you didn't know were (allegedly) plagiarized

We're so used to the "Dark Horse" songstress having every hair color under the rainbow as well as a selection of bright couture wigs she wore on her Prismatic World Tour that were designed by celebrity hairstylist Clyde Haygood — so it's not as though her latest look is all that shocking.

Perry is an avid social media user, so it comes as no surprise that she'd share her look with her fans. Taking to Instagram on Thursday, the singer posted a picture of her new hairstyle alongside a snap of Animal — the wild, drummer character from The Muppet Show.

An ode to Katy Perry's technicolor hairstyles

"Got dat hot wheels hurrr/play doe pink do," Perry captioned the photo of her new fiery hair shade (with her dark roots still peeking out), which appropriately features the phrase, "I am an animal."

According to Hollywood Life, the new look is the handiwork of Daniel Moon, a colorist at the Andy Lecompte Salon in Los Angeles, California — who also has given Kylie Jenner and Nicole Richie their daring hairdos.

Is Taylor Swift's unnamed female nemesis actually Katy Perry?

Love it or hate it, one thing is for sure: Perry's hair inspiration is never dull! It has already been slime green, pink, purple, blond, black, blue and now red. So perhaps yellow will be next?

Tell us: What do you think of Katy Perry's latest look? We think it's one up on her springtime look of "slime green!"

Greyhound puppy plays iPad game

Never mind that the game she's playing — Cat Fishing 2 — is intended for cats. Violet is a dog on a mission... and that mission is to destroy as many digital fish as possible.

What she lacks in dexterity, she makes up for in enthusiasm. I mean, we haven't seen head banging this good since the early '90s.

What's equally impressive, though, is how chill her humans are. Sure, it's an iPad. But they clearly believe capturing this hilarious moment is more important than the screen remaining perfectly pristine (although, rest assured Apple fanatics, the screen is unscathed).

Should they decide to expand their family with a little head-banging, iPad-playing human baby, that nonchalance will serve them well.

Sam Worthington: Women usually run from me

There has been much speculation as to whether Bingle is pregnant with her Avatar beau's baby, and according to Us Weekly, the rumors are all true! Bingle was spotted in New York City, New York, on Saturday, and she was trying hard to hide her baby bump with a strategically placed jacket. Then on the following day, she was once again spotted holding her tummy while visiting a medical office.

While signs may hint to the fact that Bingle is pregnant, don't expect an announcement anytime soon. The Wrath of the Titans star is notoriously private and hates getting attention from the paps (remember his punch-up with a pap in New York City's Greenwich Village not so long ago?).

Sam Worthington is tired of the paps, punches one in the face

The couple have tried to keep their relationship out of the media since they started dating in September 2013, but according to Us Weekly, they are super close.

"They're inseparable," a source revealed to the mag. "They've been making steps in their relationship but he's an extremely private guy."

The couple have just taken things one step further in their bid for privacy and have been deleting pictures of themselves from Instagram. Bikini model Bingle has apparently deleted all the pictures of her beau from Instagram and left only her professional shots while Worthington has deleted his entire account, the Daily Mail reports.

10 Hilarious reasons your toddler is crying

$

Spoiler alert: There's never a good reason why your toddler is crying. I promise you that I have read all the books trying to figure out how to communicate with both of my toddlers, and I have mostly given up. I still try to be a good, loving parent, but sometimes, in the heat of the moment, I choose to take pictures of their funny cry-faces instead of trying to calm down a tantrum. (As most parents know, "calming down a tantrum" is a myth. Just ride it out, wear earplugs, and move breakables out of the way.)

While my kids aren't featured in any of these Reddit images, they certainly could be. They cry at the drop of a hat, dozens of times a day. As one Reddit user said, "My 4-year-old daughter cried the other night for about two hours because she didn't have wrinkles on her forehead like me."

Sometimes these damn kids just can't let it go. Another user added, "Mine cried for almost two hours at school because she didn't get to push the garage door button on our way to school."

Yup, that sounds about right. You'll feel better about your tantruming toddler when you see these ridiculous reasons why your child is crying:

Unlike the iPhone 6, this phone actually works as intended

$

Maybe that's not such a bad thing. No doubt the initial anxiety of complete digital disconnect is discomforting, but perhaps a dead phone is an opportunity to bring a little sanity to a world obsessed with being perpetually connected.

Now a new Kickstarter for NoPhone, which is essentially a hunk of plastic that simulates the look and feel of a smartphone... without any of the actual phone nonsense.

"With a thin, light and completely wireless design, the NoPhone acts as a surrogate to any smart mobile device, enabling you to always have a rectangle of smooth, cold plastic to clutch without forgoing any potential engagement with your direct environment," the Kickstarter page for the non-device, device says. "Never again experience the unsettling feeling of flesh on flesh when closing your hand."

Pretty funny. But also true.

The gag really hits home in a week filled with news of technical fails. In fact, the Kickstarter for the NoPhone has already attracted 402 backers who have pledged more than $7,000 — and that's with 15 days left to go in the campaign.

Here's one hilarious testimonial from "Craig G."

"Because of the NoPhone, I haven't drunk texted my ex-boyfriend in one whole week."

Nice, Craig.

Now, the next reasonable question is: Is this a joke? No. It doesn't seem to be. It even says so in the F.A.Q. section.

The NoPhone even includes a "Selfie Upgrade."

NoPhone Selfie Upgrade

Photo: Kickstarter, NoPhone

Yes, that’s right. It's a mirror.

"Enjoy sending yourself selfies in real-time. Share selfies with your friends if they’re standing behind you. Add a verbal hashtag by syncing your brain and vocal cords," the Kickstarter adds.

One of the best parts about the NoPhone selfie upgrade? Your selfies are safe from hackers.

Maybe the NoPhone isn't really a reasonable alternative to your smartphone, but the campaign makes a really important point. The whole obsession we've developed with these little pocket computers is really fundamentally changing the way we interact, and maybe we need to stop and think about whether that's such a great thing.

That's something the brain behind the NoPhone, Van Gould and his team, realized during a friendly night out.

"We are a group of friends from the United States and the Netherlands," Gould writes about his invention. "The idea of the NoPhone spawned from a night at a bar where we regularly hang out and socialize. And by 'socialize,' we mean stare at our phones and occasionally look up from our screens to order another round, which is the norm nowadays."

You might not need to invest in the NoPhone, but let's take the hint and put that sucker down for a minute. Funnyman Louis C.K. explains our obsession with our phones and why he won't get one for his kids really movingly, and hilariously, in this video from his appearance about a year ago on Conan.

GF Friday: Grilled steak salad with blue cheese is a gluten-free indulgence

$

You can skip the white tablecloth (and high prices) you might find at a restaurant, and serve this mouthwatering dish at home. Grill your steak to your preference for this dish and, since the onions and blue cheese add serious flavor, you can skip the salad dressing if you'd like. For added color and freshness, I added steamed green beans and fresh tomatoes as sides to this steak salad.

It couldn't be easier to caramelize onions. All you really need is patience. Remember that the way to go is to cook them on low heat, and slowly. It took me about 50 minutes to bring my onions to sweet perfection, but the wait is worth it. There is some debate about whether blue cheese is processed in a gluten-free environment. If you have concerns about the safety of blue cheese, check to ensure the brand you're using is, in fact, gluten free.

While SheKnows.com tries to ensure these recipes are gluten free, carefully read the ingredient labels of all food and food products you use for these recipes to ensure they are also gluten free.

Gluten-free grilled steak salad with blue cheese and caramelized onions recipe

Serves 2

Ingredients:

  • 2 (6 ounce) sirloin steaks
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt to season the steaks
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper to season the steaks
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 large yellow onions, cut into thin strips
  • 4 cups salad greens
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes
  • 2 cups steamed green beans
  • 2-4 ounces gluten-free blue cheese crumbles

Directions:

  1. Season both sides of the steaks with the salt and pepper, and grill them to your preference. Remove and keep warm. Prior to serving, slice the meat into 1-inch-thick pieces, against the grain.
  2. To caramelize the onions, add the olive oil to a large skillet over medium heat. When hot, add the onions and stir to coat them with the oil.
  3. Reduce the heat to medium-low, and plan to check on the onions every 8-10 minutes. Stir them and make sure you scrape up anything that sticks to the bottom of the pan.
  4. Continue to cook and stir until the onions slowly turn golden. If you notice the onions cooking quickly or burning, reduce your heat.
  5. When finished cooking, check to see if there is anything stuck to the bottom of the skillet. If so, add about 1/4 cup of water and scrape up the pieces. Leave on the heat until the liquid evaporates.
  6. Add the salad greens to a serving platter along with the tomatoes and green beans. Add the steak to the greens, and top with the onions. Sprinkle with blue cheese crumbles and serve.

Grab a fork and dig into this tasty salad.

Laguna Beach: Where are they today?

Or, in some cases, seemingly not changed at all.

Dieter Schmitz posted this then-and-now picture to Instagram with the message, "From senior prom to 10 years later for the first wedding last weekend for Ben... lucky to have such great friends my whole life."

Laguna Beach cast 12

Aww! Clearly, a decade of life outside of the Laguna Beach lens hasn't weakened the bond between Schmitz and classmates Stephen Colletti, Trey Williams and Jonathon Bernard, who reunited for pal Ben Singer's nuptials. But where are the rest of the cast members these days?

Lauren Conrad

Laguna Beach cast 11

Laguna Beach cast 11

The biggest star to come out of Laguna Beach, Lauren Conrad parlayed her MTV fame into a fashion-based empire. Between her clothing lines, endorsements, YA novels and popular lifestyle blog, Conrad somehow still managed to find time to land her hunky lawyer beau, William Tell. The two wed in early September in a picture perfect wedding that had LC written all over it.

Stephen Colletti

Remember the days Conrad used to pine over Colletti? Oh, to be young and have a schoolgirl crush. Not that we blame LC — Colletti was adorable a decade ago, and he's just as adorable today. He's also the only cast member who successfully segued into acting, booking recurring roles on One Tree Hill and Hit the Floor. These days, he's dating adorable actress Chelsea Kane and continues to act.

Kristin Cavallari

Laguna Beach cast 9

Conrad and her former nemesis seem to have made peace over the years, perhaps because both ladies eventually got over Colletti. Kristin Cavallari went on to star alongside Conrad in The Hills, where she resumed her role as the resident bad girl. She's enjoyed bit parts on TV and in movies over the years, but has mainly made headlines for her on-again, off-again romance with quarterback Jay Cutler. The couple ultimately tied the knot in 2012 and now have two sons, Camden and Jaxon. Cavallari recently released a shoe line and is preparing to launch a jewelry line as well.

Lo Bosworth

Conrad's longtime bestie made the journey by her side from Laguna Beach to The Hills before stepping out of the spotlight. In addition to dating businessman Jeremy Globerson, Lo Bosworth keeps busy with her startup, Revelry House, which drops stylish party kits on your doorstep. She also wrote a book, launched her own YouTube series and graduated from culinary school. Total Type A!

Trey Phillips

Who didn't love Trey Phillips during his Laguna days? We sure did. The then-budding designer followed his passion after graduation, moving to New York City to study at the Parsons School of Design. He remains in NYC to this day, where he works as an associate designer for Vera Wang. No word on whether or not he relies on his trusty skateboard to navigate New York City's streets. He's also still active in service work, making him even more swoon-worthy in our book.

Dieter Schmitz

During his time on Laguna Beach, Schmitz proved to be a loyal friend for both Conrad and Colletti — and, so far as we can tell, he still is today. Schmitz opted to transition into hospitality and hotel management after the show ended. He currently lives in San Diego, California, with his beautiful blond girlfriend, where he is the GM of Lakehouse Hotel and Resort.

Now Jessica Smith Evans, this former emotional mess traded serial dating and sobfests for holy matrimony. Although far fewer details on her life are as readily available as her former cast mates, we can deduce that Smith Evans attended Saddleback Community College in Mission Viejo, California, got hitched to Michael Evans and had three precious children.

Christina Schuller played the part on the show of the preacher's daughter who was proud to be one of the only virgins. She shared most of her screen time with her BFF, Morgan, who was also a proud virgin. Now Christina Sinclair, she's still close with Morgan — she was a bridesmaid in her 2010 wedding. Christina and her husband Chad live in Laguna Beach, where she works as a certified fitness instructor and runs a blog, Beach Babe Fitness.

Shortly after, the pretty brunette married Joel Smith, the good Mormon boy of her dreams. The couple now lives in LA, where she's a digital marketing manager at Bugaboo. Earlier this summer, they welcomed their first child, a boy named Theo.

Jason Wahler

Oh, Jason. Jason, Jason, Jason. His bad boy, heartbreaker ways followed him from Laguna Beach to The Hills to life beyond. Between 2006 and 2010, his struggles with alcoholism resulted in six alcohol-related arrests. This story has a happy ending, thankfully. A stint on Celebrity Rehab in 2010 sobered him up, and he has since straightened up his act and married model Ashley Slack.

Talan Torriero was quite the ladies' man during his Laguna Beach years, and apparently not much changed afterward. He's since settled down, getting married to Danielle Zuroski this summer.

Things that are oddly healthy for your relationship

$
0
0

That's why I was so stoked when the Huffington Post reported that watching TV like a slob is actually healthy. And by healthy, I definitely don't mean real healthy. We're talking relationship healthy, which should still count. Apparently, enjoying television with your boyfriend or husband can create a healthy relationship by opening lines of communication, spurring laughter and inspiring intimacy. All that from 23 minutes of The Big Bang Theory? Sign me up.

This report got me wondering, though, about other daily habits that are surprisingly good for relationships. Psychotherapist and author Dr. Jane Greer suggested women use the following overlooked and oddly-beneficial activities to build healthy relationships with their partners.

Grocery shopping and cooking

Creating a meal with your partner turns a mindless chore into something extraordinary, because it provides couples a chance to share a common goal, work toward it and enjoy it within just a few hours. "Cooking is a creative endeavor, and it requires couples to share and try new things," Greer explained. "Anything that allows couples to create and share will build wonderful relationship habits."

Sweating

Whether you're a marathoner or prefer to mosey on a treadmill, sweating with your partner is great for your relationship. "When couples work out, they're both investing time in getting healthier and feeling stronger," Greer said. Exercise also releases powerful feel-good chemicals in the brain, which partners associate with one another when they work out together.

Gardening

Similar to cooking, gardening allows couples to share a common goal and create something beautiful. Gardening, however, has the added benefit of serious stress relief. Greer explained, "Getting dirty, pulling up weeds and spending time in nature are wonderful for reducing both individual and interpersonal stress." Lowered stress and quality time are key for relational bonding, after all.

Stretching

Do you start your day with a sun salutation? Try adding your partner to the mix for a potent blend of sexiness and relaxation. "Stretching releases toxins from muscles and relaxes the body, but many couples also feel physically responsive when they watch their partner relax and stretch," Greer said. A bonus perk, of course, is that relaxed muscles can increase sexual arousal and pleasure — but, you know, only if you're into that.

Napping

The only thing better than napping solo is napping with a cuddle buddy. "Holding your partner in bed is known to lower your heart rate, drop your blood pressure and increase your sense of well-being," said Greer. These physical responses, in turn, assist with bonding and intimacy.

Which one of these surprisingly beneficial habits will you try this weekend? (And don't forget to watch a little TV.)

Human flesh burger

They love the hit AMC zombie drama so much that they have found some pretty odd ways of celebrating. A kooky cooking duo in London may have kicked things up to an out-weirdable level with their newest offering. To celebrate the return of the show, they have created a hamburger that's supposed to taste like a zombie's favorite snack: Human flesh! Barf, barf and then maybe barf again.

Uh, that's funny and awesome or whatever but here's my question — How do they know what people taste like? The duo says that they haven't sampled any human beings themselves, so not to worry. They've just done a lot of literary research, reading up on quotes from people who have sampled the other-other white meat.

The burgers are made of veal, bone marrow and chicken livers which are meant to closely resemble the taste and texture of people. No actual people were eaten in the making of these burgers (we hope).

Step 1: File and buff

How to save your chipped manicure: Step 1 File and Buff

Start off by buffing your nails around the chipped area. This will even out the chipped surface and help the new polish adhere to the area.

Step 2: Cut tape

How to save your chipped manicure: Step 2: Cut tape

With your scissors, cut 10 small pieces of tape just a little wider than your nail.

Step 3: Apply tape

How to save your chipped manicure: Step 3: Apply tape

Use the tape to mark off the area you want to paint over. Before you put it on your nails, touch the sticky surface with your fingertips so it doesn't end up peeling off any of your polish when you remove it.

Step 4: Paint your tips

Paint the tips of your nails with your contrasting polish and peel the tape off while the nail polish is still wet. This will keep the line crisp. If you wait until your nails dry, sometimes the tape will pull off more polish because it has dried in one piece.

Step 5: Top coat

Once you have removed your tape, allow your nails to dry for a few minutes. Then apply your top coat and you have a brand new geometric nail art mani!

Kim K. puts fashion first as North walks in clunky black boots

Fashion show outfits are typically more for style than comfort — and Kim K. kept that fashion rule for both herself and for her daughter North.

Kim Kardashian - North walking

Kim Kardashian - North walking

She shared the above picture with the caption, "Balenciaga Baby," as the family strolled into the show wearing matching black outfits. (Side note: Why so glum, Kanye?) Little North is decked out in in the family's brand, wearing items form the Kardashian Kids collection and a Yeezus sweatshirt, in support of Kanye.

Even though Kim didn't provide the fashion credit, Khloe Kardashian shared this same picture and wrote, "Baby girl reppin her mommy and daddy today in @KardashianKids leatherette leggings+skirt and her Yeezus tee!"

North has been walking since July so she is probably getting pretty good at it, however walking in tight leather leggings and black Timberland boots is a whole other story.

Kim held North's hand as she managed to walk up the steps, past the photographers and into the show.

She actually told Yahoo! Style that bringing North to the fashion show was a last-minute decision.

"She started to cry when we were walking out the door [of our hotel] and we couldn’t leave her. So, it was a spur-of-the-moment thing," she revealed.

North sat on Kim's lap throughout the show, as her parents watched the models stroll down the runway. And what did the pampered tot think of her first fashion show?

"It was an amazing fashion show for her to be at for her first show," said. "She loves it!"

3 Things you should do to keep your condom from breaking

A: This is a great question, and the answer covers the basic and most important issues related to choosing the condom that is right for you and your partner.

Condoms undergo rigorous testing and can withstand a surprising amount of thrust and friction. With proper use, condoms rarely break. It is not likely that your sex is too rigorous for condoms. Following these tips next time you use a condom will ensure that you are having a safer and more pleasurable experience.

1. Choose the right condom size

This is where most people have an issue with condoms. Condoms are not one-size-fits all. The R&D department at Lucky Bloke found that 70 percent of people who dislike condoms are wearing the wrong size. And using a condom that is too small is not only uncomfortable for the penis in question, it increases the risk that it will break.

There are three main size categories: smaller condoms, medium or standard condoms and larger condoms. If you are unsure what size condom you should try, consult this handy condom size chart and enjoy exploring different condoms in the size category that provide a much better fit.

2. Put the condom on correctly

A condom does not go on like a sock, in which you pull it on all the way on so that it's snug at the tip. Like you mentioned, there needs to be a little bit of room at the top in order for there to be a place to catch and hold ejaculate. Otherwise, sperm will be forced down the sides of the condom and leak out the bottom. Far from helpful.

So you need to leave about half an inch or the width of what you can pinch between your thumb and index finger. Many condoms are built with a reservoir tip making it easy to pinch in place as you roll the condom down to the base of the penis.

When rolling on a condom, make sure you place it right-side out. To use sex educator Megan Andelloux's tip: Hold the condom at the tip with two fingers and ask yourself, what kind of hat does it look like? If the answer is, "The kind of beanie you'd wear because it's cold out" (the roll is pointing down), then it's facing the wrong way. If the answer is "a sombrero" (the roll is pointing up), then it's time to party.

3. Use more lube

Using additional personal lubricant is an often overlooked yet essential aspect of condom use. Even though you are using "lubricated" condoms the lube included is simply not sufficient. Lube not only enhances sensitivity, it also helps to reduce the chance of your condom breaking. I recommend adding a few drops of lube on to the erect penis before putting on a condom, as well as applying to the outside of the condom, especially if you are using ultra thin rubbers.

Make sure the lube you apply is compatible with the condom material. Never used oil-based lube with latex condoms. Water-based and silicone lubes are compatible with both latex and non-latex condoms. What Hispanic Heritage Month means in my house

For me, being Hispanic is not about where I was born or an exotic name and has absolutely nothing to do with the color of my skin. For me, being a Latina is a state of mind. Yes, I do have some typical Latina characteristics. I have big, almond-shaped brown eyes. I have dark hair. I am a loud, hand talker with a flair for the dramatic, but I think that is more Cruz and less a "Latina" quality.

When I think of the Hispanic culture, I think of passionate people, who love family and live with strong faith. Well, that's what it means to be Hispanic in our family. I know I can't umbrella everyone under this same statement but in general, I find it to be true a lot of the time.

I grew up in a large family where all of my aunts and uncles had large families, and when I was small it wasn't an oddity to have 50 family members at a birthday cookout. It wasn't a situation where we only saw one another on the holidays. For us, traditionally in our culture, I think that trans-generational togetherness is what is expected. Once-a-year visits are simply unacceptable. Family is everything and that tends to include married-in family and close family friends. We love family, even when we don't like them.

We are generally passionate people who really stand behind their beliefs whether it be that one soccer team is better than the other, how the government should be run or our faith in God.

I've always worked hard and striven for better for my children, as my parents did for me. I'm trying to instill a will and determination that compels them to strive to be the best at whatever it is that they do in life, to appreciate how important family is as a source of unconditional love and to always respect themselves, their culture and others.

I teach them tolerance because when you are Hispanic there is a chance that you have experienced some racism, and I want my girls to know that this is not about them, it's about the other person and it's usually not personal. It's usually a belief based on ignorance. So don't hurl insults back; ignore or educate them about the culture. Difference is beautiful and severely underappreciated. I want my girls to own who they are, even if it's not just like everyone else and I think that's a life lesson we could all benefit from.

How do you teach your children to be proud of their culture?
