Nick Carter and Lauren Kitt recounting all their "firsts" is so cute, it hurts (VIDEO)

Nick Carter and Jordan Knight are joining forces >>

From chatting about their "firsts" as a couple to sharing behind-the-scenes insights on their new reality show, the Carters were an open book with SheKnows. We got America's cutest (and possibly fittest) couple to spill some pretty intimidate looks into their marriage. First, though, we wanted to know more about I Love Nick Carter.

We love Nick Carter, too

SheKnows: Was there anything you were nervous about before deciding to do a reality show?

Lauren Kitt Carter: No, because everything was very well thought out and planned and organized. We knew we were going to be on tour, we know we were planning a wedding. We knew we were going to be buying a home and these life changes, so everything was pretty set up and thought out. So there were no major surprises. There was a couple, which you'll, I think, see in the first episode. People have told me that there's a surprise scene. I haven't seen it yet.

SK: What are fans going to learn about you on the show?

Nick Carter: I think what our fans, and people in general, are going to learn about me is that I'm kind of like a guy who wears my heart on my sleeve — always have been. And that I love 100 percent and I lead with my heart with everything I do. I'm very passionate when it comes to the work that I've done for the past 22 years with the Backstreet Boys. Our touring, the music that we make, my wife, which is first and foremost, and the dedication that I have to this new bond that we have: Those I think are the things that will kind of just remind them. When I was younger, maybe they saw that. But this is all me, this is all us.

Speaking of that "us"...

It's not everyday we get a famous married couple dropping onto our couch for a chance to bond! We knew we had to read every page of the open book they were offering. On I Love Nick Carter, we'll get a peek into their marriage, but we wanted a peek into their lives before the vows.

SK: What was your first kiss like?

LKC: You know how any first kiss is exhilarating and exciting and it makes you want to squeal? I think he grabbed my face and softly kissed me and I got those, like, zingers through your body.

Nick Carter marries Lauren Kitt during emotional ceremony >>

SK: Who said "I love you" first?

NC: I did, but I said it really aggressively.

LKC: It was an aggressive "I love you."

NC: I was on the phone with her and I was on tour. We were actually about to break up and I was like, "I can't do this! I freaking love you!"

SK: What was your first fight about?

LKC: Probably that, because I said I'm not going to meet you out on tour.

NC: I was going through my [insecurities].

Insecurities? Really?

BSB fans may or may not remember Carter's past issues with being in the spotlight. If you were aware, you were probably surprised to see him inviting that attention, again. We were, too, and we questioned the singer about his change of heart.

SK: Nick, you've been honest about trouble you've had in the past while being in the spotlight. What made you decide to throw yourself back into the spotlight for people to judge? People are rough.

NC: People are rough, but I think that's one of the things I like about this industry is that, in order to stay out there, you have to have resilience. You kind of have to have your stuff together, you have to. I wasn't the best person that I could be in the past and people have seen that and saw me fall off. During that fall off, [I] took a look in the mirror, did some things to change my life around and to make myself a better person. So I'm happy to introduce that person; reintroduce that person to our fans that I might have lost along the way or that lost faith. I'm just excited, I feel like I'm a better person.

SK: Was there ever a time during all that when you wanted to give up?

NC: I never thought that. I'm a performer, I'm an entertainer, so I love singing, writing music, dancing, playing instruments. I love acting when I get a chance to do it. I love the entertainment business and the challenge that it takes to stay relevant.

Why we totally respect Ryan Adams' badass decision to hang up on prying interviewers

Ryan Adams announces new album, tour dates >>

BuzzFeed recently spent some time with Ryan Adams in his studio and, while there, had the chance to witness the crooner in action as other people interviewed him. During an interview with an Australian radio station, the DJs pressed him about his wife and, when they wouldn't back down, Adams hung up.

"OK, so I just hung up 'cause I was on the radio getting asked about my wife," Adams explained to the reporter. "I was really nice about it the first time, and I'm sorry, but I won't repeat myself. The deal is this: I'm a private person and I'll be a gentleman and say I'm not talking about my marriage ever. I'll never talk about it. Ever. I'll talk about rescue cats for a few seconds. But even there I don't want to talk about my pets. If I have children I'm not going to discuss that with anyone ever. I'll suggest it once and then I'm going to hang up."

Rough? Not really.

While many people will claim he "signed up for it" when he hopped into the spotlight, we think that's a little unfair. You can't choose where your passion or talent lies. Music is what he loves and what he wants to do. He shouldn't be forced to put his entire life on display simply because his massive music talent has landed him on the world's stage.

Ryan Adams and Mandy Moore secretly wed >>

This goes for all celebrities, too. Sure, it's awesome when Chris Pratt and Anna Faris share pictures of little Jack. It's not cool when paparazzi hunt them down for pictures while they're out shopping. (Thankfully, Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard's campaign to end that has really slowed things down on that front.) We also love watching Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally swoon over each other when they do joint interviews, but we don't think it's acceptable to circle helicopters above someone's wedding. Many of us are also out on whether it's our place to speculate whether a celebrity marriage is on the rocks or not. Some celebs are open about their personal lives and it's fun to eat it up. However, we tend to forget that celebrities are humans, too, and deserve a little more privacy.

Especially when they specifically ask for it.

So, did Adams make the right move? Definitely! He could have tried to steer the conversation elsewhere. Chances are, though, that those Australian DJs would have kept pestering him. It's better to hang up quickly than end up in a furious rage when they won't let it go. No one ever forgets a rage, but most people haven't even noticed that Adams hung up on someone.

Of course, that could have something to do with the fact that, the next day, Adams supposedly tweeted out an apology for the "disconnected" call. That bit of a white lie might have saved him some trouble at the time, but we think he should have 'fessed up to what he did and why. Maybe this can serve as a warning to anyone else thinking of prying into his relationship.

Still, we give props to Adams for handling the situation with as much patience and class as possible.

Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck have a stack of sexy polaroids

Is Jennifer Garner pregnant with baby No. 4? >>

Garner spoke with Vanity Fair at the Toronto International Film Festival and admitted that she and her husband, Ben Affleck, keep their romance alive, even without a digital footprint.

"Polaroids! That's what we do at the Affleck house," Garner joked. "We have a stack of sexy Polaroids."

Despite her joking nature on the matter, Garner did add that she does get worried about the online world. The mom to three children said she is disturbed by the behaviors she sees online.

"It makes you feel kind of sick to your stomach because — with parenting — you're just trying to get it right," Garner said. "In L.A. we have all these parenting classes and in one, a teacher said to me, 'Prepare your child for the road, not the road for your child.' So we have pulled stuff up before and said, 'Look, this is how crazy this stuff is guys, look at this.'"

Garner was at TIFF to talk about her new film, Men, Women & Children, but she is also looking forward to what her husband has been up to. Affleck has been busy with his Batman role and it sounds like Garner couldn't be more excited (even if she can't talk about it yet).

"Everybody is excited for Batman," Garner said. "I've been asked all these questions about it and Ben just said to me on the phone, 'Jennifer, next year if you're at Toronto, it'll still be months from coming out!'"

Frank Sinatra sang the worst song ever for Married... with Children

Sagal made our list of the craziest moms on TV >>

It was a bittersweet day today as a major part of our childhoods was both applauded and then ruined. Hollywood honored Married... with Children and Sons of Anarchy star, Katey Sagal, with a star on the coveted Walk of Fame. It's placed right next to her TV husband Ed O'Neill's star in pure Hollywood romance fashion. We couldn't have been more happy for her and we even got a little teary listening to her former TV daughter, Christina Applegate, along with the rest of her television family, honor her with a few loving words. We wanted to show our own love and respect for Sagal and Married... and we began delving deep into the web for a unique spin.

Wish come (sort of) true! 10 TV reunions we'd love to see >>

We got a little sidetracked, though, as we listened to the theme song on repeat. Here's the thing: For all the swooning our parents and grandparents did over Frank Sinatra, he really dropped the ball on "Love and Marriage." The Married... theme song is as basic, trite and ill-written as it gets. Take a look at some of the lyrics!

"Love and marriage, love and marriage
Go together like a horse and carriage
This I tell you brother
You can't have one without the other."

We know it was a simpler time when legendary music writer, Sammy Cahn, conjured up these lyrics in 1955, but c'mon! Anyone who can write something as fun as "Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow!" and "Call Me Irresponsible" ought to be able to come up with something a little better than a rhyme as basic as "marriage" and "carriage." It seems less inspired and more like a rhyme made from necessity. And, yeah, we're more than a little disappointed that Frank Sinatra would even latch onto such a lame ditty. And, let's be real, "Love and Marriage" is definitely more "ditty" than "song." We really should have expected more from the famed leader of the Rat Pack.

Finally, we're left with one simple question: Why "Love and Marriage?" The song is so basic and only vaguely relates to Married... with Children. Wouldn't it have been better to hire someone to write a fresh theme? They could've helped pay someone's extravagant Los Angeles rent instead of just adding to the Sinatra estate. We're sure Fox had their reasons... we're unsure they were worthy, though.

David Beckham lets Victoria dress him

David Beckham joins Prince William to stop animal poaching >>

But all the growth they have achieved has been together and it hasn't been overnight. David Beckham spoke with ITV about learning to be a fashionable male, mostly from his wife, despite his past mistakes (including an infamous sarong).

"That's one thing I never regret! I thought it looked great and I would still wear it now!" he said, according to People. "That's what's great about fashion. Over the years… everybody looks back at old pictures of themselves and thinks… 'What was I thinking?'"

But Beckham said he has learned a lot from his wife, who has become a fashion icon.

"She has opinions to what I wear. I'm my own person so I think if something looks good then I'll wear it but when you're in a relationship, when you are married, you trust their judgement and she's got a pretty good eye," he explained.

Brooklyn Beckham nabs internship at Guy Richie's office >>

Although Beckham has become something of a fashion icon himself, he said he could never compete with his wife and daughter (who already takes around 20 minutes to choose what to wear each day). But through it all, they seem to be a close family and he is just as in love with his wife as he was when they were married.

"I'm very proud of what she's achieved, what she's done," he said. "To go from being a Spice Girl [in] the biggest girl band in history then to being respected in the fashion industry that's something that doesn't happen overnight, so to see the scale of what she's achieved and what she's created is special."

Nicki Minaj disses CBS for cutting "Anaconda" choreography

This photo of Nicki Minaj and Ellen DeGeneres' anaconda is so funny... but so bad >>

The "Anaconda" rapper performed at Tuesday's Fashion Rocks special and CBS cut away during a large portion of her very hiney-heavy choreography.

"My darlingz, I wish you could've seen the choreography on the 2nd verse of 'Anaconda' last night. It was absolutely divine. CBS decided not to show it," Minaj wrote on her Instagram under a photo from the show Wednesday.

The two-hour program featured performances from Usher, Jennifer Hudson, JLo, Duran Duran and Afrojack. The annual fashion-meets-music charity event is televised each year from New York Fashion Week.

Nicki Minaj's "Anaconda" gets a fart remix (VIDEO) >>

Minaj performed her super booty-licious single, "Anaconda," but viewers at home didn't get to see nearly as much as the live audience did.

During the live broadcast, camera crews chose to cut away and show audience reactions, rather than one of the steamiest parts of Minaj's choreography. The routine wasn't too different from what Minaj performed at the MTV Video Music Awards, but for cable audiences, it was apparently deemed inappropriate.

Minaj also said in her post that she happily would have altered the routine to meet CBS' standards had she been given the heads up that her dance wouldn't be shown to at-home viewers.

"Had they told us this before, we would have changed the choreo so that you guys could see the full performance from beginning to end," she wrote. "Artists spend so much of their own money, time and passion to deliver their fans great performances. But ultimately, our art usually falls into the hands of people who care nothing about our art and creativity. Promise you'll get to see this new choreo soon."

CBS didn't cut out the full routine, though. A sultry chair dance was aired and the other parts of the choreography, which was full of booty poppin' and droppin', were shown to viewers.

Let this be a warning to any would-be Nicki Minaj "Anaconda" copycats >>

What do you think? Is Minaj's criticism fair? Or did CBS make the right call cutting out part of the dance?

Frat boys lip-sync Taylor Swift's "Shake it Off" and it's perfect (VIDEO)

"Shake It Off" outtakes prove Taylor Swift is as dorky as she claims >>

The boys of Delta Sigma Phi Beta Mu put together a video of them lip-synching to Swift's new song and they may have portrayed the song just as well as TSwift herself. The pop princess put herself in many different situations in her video, including as a cheerleader and a ballerina, and she showed what she thinks about the "haters" out there. But the boys did the same with their own rendition of the Swift song. Even though some of the guys were obviously less enthused than others to be participating (and some were way too excited), they put together a pretty impressive effort.

According to KLTV, the fraternity brothers recorded their version in their dorm at Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky — and they did it all in one take (an impressive feat, even for an experienced filmmaker). Apparently, only about 1,100 students are enrolled in the school, which means they may have a higher percentage of Swift fans than the average community.

Confession: Why I'm not-so-secretly obsessed with Taylor Swift's love life >>

Taylor Swift has not yet commented on the video, but it's very possible she will as soon as she watches it. As far as flattery goes, this one takes the cake. But luckily (for everyone involved), the boys didn't attempt to imitate the twerking from Swift's original video.

Maybe Swift has been looking for love in all the wrong places and she should start looking at regular guys — especially those intent on flattering her. It's a good start anyways.

Jennifer Aniston not less of a woman because she's not a mom >>

"My life is a happy life," she said during a press conference for her new movie, Cake, at the Toronto International Film Festival. "It's a choice."

But it seems like that choice is a whole lot easier as long as fiancé Justin Theroux is in the picture.

"Justin is probably one of the funniest human beings that I've ever encountered," she gushed. "I have the great fortune to laugh a lot. We laugh a lot."

Justin Theroux's "romantic" Bora Bora birthday >>

It looks like Justin was good to have by her side while she was working on Cake, a film that deals with some decidedly heavy themes. In the movie, Jen's character investigates the suicide of a friend, played by Anna Kendrick, whom she meets in a support group for sufferers of chronic pain. As she digs deeper into her friend Nina's life and develops a strong relationship with Nina's husband, Jen's character is forced to face her own personal demons and confront the tragedy of Nina's death head-on, Aniston told media at the premiere.

"I just thought she was a beautiful, tortured, layered character," she said. "I felt such extreme empathy for her and what she was struggling through and the journey that she takes."

The screening ended with a standing ovation from TiFF-goers and critics are already laying on the praise for Aniston's work in the film.

And for Aniston, the role was a good reminder not to take the good things in her off-screen life for granted.

"We appreciate that we can get up, that we can stand up and run," she said. "We are all very blessed."

Jennifer Aniston is completely smitten with Justin Theroux >>

Congrats to Jen on what looks like a successful role and just as much success in her personal life!

Miley Cyrus, Liam Hemsworth still spend time together >>

Miley debuted a line of jewelry — all handmade by the star herself — at Jeremy Scott's New York Fashion Week show Wednesday. The super-colorful pieces are made out of alphabet beads and a ton of random, colorful toys and objects, from Slinkies to car air fresheners.

The necklaces, rings and hair accessories are way cuter than they sound. A Glamour reporter said the pieces stole the show away from Scott.

"Miley's accessories definitely caused a commotion," the reporter said. "There were hundreds of paparazzi outside... it was the most intense fashion show I've ever been to."

We can't see Miley Cyrus' talent past her twerking >>

Scott explained backstage that Miley had her eye on a jewelry line long before his show.

"We live really close to each other in LA, and she had a little party and I came over," he said. "And she started showing me these things she was making, and I said 'Wow, this kind of looks like my collection — it's colorful and stream-of-consciousness and everything just kind of goes and somehow works. I was like, 'Oh my god this looks so cool, would you think about doing something?' And she said absolutely. And then the next day I sent her a text and said I was dead serious about the jewelry for the show, if you're into it. And she was like, 'I thought you were joking, I'm so happy!' And then she's calling me and saying, 'OK, we have to start planning.' And she just got into and she did it. She made everything herself."

Scott's collection was "music festival" inspired, he said, so Miley's youthful pieces fit right in. Personally, I'm super in love with a pair of puffball rings she showed off on her Instagram — Miley, where can I get some of these?

A former cast member has joined American Horror Story and it's freaking awesome news!

The rumor about Pepper showing up next season began earlier this summer, when what looked like an AHS call sheet was leaked. The sheet had the name "Pepper" listed on it and fans went nuts speculating that meant that the amazingly unique character from the show's second season would be appearing.

American Horror Story: Could Jessica Lange finally be one of the good guys this season? >>

We are very happy to report that the rumors are completely true and Pepper, played by Naomi Grossman, will be showing up in Freak Show. "She is in this [season]," co-creator, Ryan Murphy, confirmed in a statement to Entertainment Weekly.

Murphy further explained that Pepper's story will be connected to Jessica Lange's character, Elsa. "What Elsa has done for 20 years is she goes around to hospitals and jails and rescues these 'freak' circus performers who are going to be shipped away to asylums and she signs the waivers and she becomes their guardians."

The next season of American Horror Story will take place in 1952, which fans will recall is about 12 years before we saw Pepper in Asylum. Murphy said that the character's appearance on Freak Show "is sort of like what happened to Pepper before she went to the asylum."

American Horror Story: Freak Show teasers deliver on terror (VIDEO) >>

"We thought about it long and hard and we decided that it was interesting to do," Murphy said about the decision, which marks the first time that a character from one season of American Horror Story (known for rebooting every season with new characters) has appeared in another season.

Since Asylum and Freak Show will occur in similar time lines, could we possibly see other characters from Season 2 appear in the new season? Sarah Paulson is already playing conjoined twins in Freak Show, but maybe we could see her as a younger Lana Winters, perhaps visiting the circus for a day of fun before the horrors that befell her in the asylum.

Then again, they probably wouldn't have a character come back if they are played by an actor already appearing this season. If that's the case, there are still plenty of characters to choose from the second season.

What are we missing?

Fifty Shades of Grey promo photo

This is supposed to be a super-sexy, ultra-naughty, high-definition adaptation of an S&M erotic novel, right? I mean, fans have been breathing so heavily over the book's pages, I'm afraid to even touch the copy at the library lest the pages be stuck together.

It's the weirdest mashup: Fifty Shades of Frozen (VIDEO) >>

And yet, for their protagonist's birthday celebration (a wonderful opportunity to tease us), Universal Pictures gave us a picture of Dakota Johnson almost-nibbling on a boring black pencil with the not-so-mysterious name, Grey, monogrammed on its side.

(Sigh.)

We're all about getting pumped up, but couldn't the marketing minds over there get a little more creative? A little more nitty-gritty? Couldn't they at least try to help us generate a little anticipatory perspiration? A woman holding a pencil to her lips might have been sexy back in the day, but it's hardly anything new in 2014. The only thing more cliché would have been for them to send out a picture of Anastasia eating a banana.

I'm also more than a little confused about who the target audience for this promo pic is. A "phallus" in the face isn't exactly my ideal sexy-time-photo... I'd much rather have gotten a sneak peek of Jamie Dornan with his shirt off.

RHONJ's Teresa and Joe Giudice prep for prison

The reality-show stars pleaded guilty to federal charges of conspiracy, mortgage and bankruptcy fraud back in March. The duo decided to take responsibility for their actions due to the potential impact long prison sentences were going to have on their four young daughters.

Teresa & Joe Giudice indicted on 2 more fraud counts >>

Miles Feinstein, Joe's attorney, told reporters after their plea that he was certain his client will face some prison time as he was taking on the burden of the blame. According to NJ.com, the federal guidelines recommend 37 to 46 months for the charges.

"Joe… acknowledged what he had done, and he did this to help his wife in the best possible way because… she has received the most favorable plea agreement that she in fact could get," Feinstein said. "So he showed his love for his family, he acknowledged responsibility — despite the potential consequences."

Teresa, who reportedly played a smaller role in the fraud, is hoping for probation. Sentencing guidelines recommend that the mom of four receive 27 months of prison time.

No matter what happens at their sentencing on Oct. 2, the family needs to downsize their lavish lifestyle. The six-bedroom, six-bath custom-built home is listed at $3.999 million. The house features double spiral staircases, a gourmet kitchen and three walk-in closets in the master bedroom alone.

Teresa & Joe Giudice: Deportation threatens New Jersey family >>

Zillow.com has the photos of the house in the MLS listing and fans will definitely recognize some of the rooms and decor from the Bravo TV series.

Season 6 of the long-running franchise is currently covering the Giudices' legal issues and the plea deal was shown on the Sept. 7 episode of the cable show.

Watch Mike Tyson lose his shit during a TV interview (VIDEO)

Why we totally respect Ryan Adams' badass decision to hang up on prying interviewers >>

Mike Tyson, who is currently in Toronto, Canada, campaigning for the re-election of controversial mayor, Rob Ford, sat down with local news anchor, Nathan Downer, and the newsman really lived up to his name when he quickly put a dampener on the interview and set Tyson on a verbal rampage.

"Some of your critics would say, 'This is a race for mayor, we know you're a convicted rapist. This could hurt his campaign.' Now, what do you respond to that," Downer asked Tyson during the live telecast.

"Hey, I don't know who said that. You're the only one I heard said that. You know what I mean? And I don't have no comment to that," Tyson replied calmly, but clearly agitated. "Because it's negative. You're being negative. And I met the mayor. There's nothing they can do about it."

Mike Tyson's daughter dies after accident >>

After pondering what had just happened for several moments, Tyson interrupted the other guest on the show, who was obviously trying to diffuse the situation, and it was clear that the gravity of what Downer had brought up had hit Tyson. "It's so interesting. You come across like you're a nice guy, but you're really a piece of shit. F*** you," Tyson bursted out.

"Hey, we're doing live TV," Downer said. "I don't care. What are you going to do about it," Tyson retorted.

From there, things got uncomfortable as Downer tried to regain control of the interview, but clearly, there was no coming back from bringing up Tyson's past. Tyson became more agitated, staring straight at the reporter, hand twitching in his lap. With every question Downer asked in redirect, Tyson only appeared more upset and answered with choice adjectives to describe the anchor. Downer was also visibly nervous throughout the rest of the conversation, which ended with Downer saying, "Thank you for coming," which was met with an abrupt "f*** you" from Tyson.

Tyson was indeed convicted of raping then-18-year-old Desiree Washington in 1991. He served six years in prison, during which time he converted to Islam. He's also battled demons since his time served, including drug and alcohol addiction. Tyson has adamantly maintained his innocence since his conviction.

Our question for Downer is: What the heck were you expecting? Tyson was, in essence, sandbagged on live TV and he already has a reputation for displaying volatile behavior. The first rule of hosting live TV is to not set up any land mines for yourself, and Downer pulled the pin on a grenade and then sat it next to himself on the couch.

You've got to admit, Downer has some huge cajones. Maybe not a whole lot of sense, but definitely cajones.

SK Confessional: I'm obsessed with Benedict Cumberbatch and here's why >>

Cumberbatch has been having quite the time promoting the film about a super spy team of penguins trying to save the world. He brought a silly and fun attitude during the Comic-Con San Diego panel this year for the film and admitted to loving the Penguins of Madagascar book as a child.

Now, DreamWorks has released this video of a crazy interview with Cumberbatch and young actor, J.J. Totah, as host. The two play off each other so well in this goofy video that it's bound to steal your heart and make you want to see Penguins of Madagascar when it opens in theaters on Nov. 26.

"OK, so you and the penguins have different styles of spying. How can I become a spy, too?" Totah says right off the bat as his first question.

TRAILER: Benedict Cumberbatch is an enigma in The Imitation Game >>

"Well, you know, uh," Cumberbatch considers, "there's all sorts of things you have to take into consideration. I think the most important one is that to perform well as a spy, you have to know how to work undercover."

Totah is a fast learner, because in the middle of Cumberbatch's response, the actor suddenly cuts off with a look of confusion, "I'm sorry, are you wearing a fake mustache?" he asks.

Totah isn't just wearing a fake mustache. As the camera cuts over to him, we see that he is wearing a giant fake mustache and smoothing it thoughtfully, impressed with Cumberbatch's detective skills.

Who's hotter: Benedict Cumberbatch vs. Tom Hardy >>

The next spy stunt the two work on is hide and go seek. Totah not so skillfully hides behind his chair and Cumberbatch easily, albeit awkwardly, names Totah's location.

"You are the master," Totah gushes.

The interview only gets more strange for Cumberbatch as Totah gets more excited for the film. In the end, Cumberbatch decides to duck out with some hide and seek of his own.

Save your milk cartons for this clever craft for kids

We all know that one of the best ways to get our kids to try new things is to involve them in the dinner prep. We're taking that one step further and asking them to get their hands dirty with planting the herbs they'll be using in those family dinner recipes. If they had a hand in growing the herbs, they're more likely to want to go out on a limb and try them in a new recipe.

Great herbs for kids to start with are basil, oregano, parsley, mint and cilantro. We planted mint because the kids love mint chocolate chip ice cream and this mom loves mojitos.

Even slightly feminist chicks will hate Meghan Trainor's "Dear Future Husband"

Proof Meghan Trainor has original material and an awesome voice >>

Trainor started off on a high note, making girls everywhere shake their hips and sass along to "All About That Bass." It was the perfect girl power song with the ultimate message about self image. We thought that if she could make it past being a one-hit wonder, we might even have a new role model on our hands. Sadly, the lyrics to her track, "Dear Future Husband," are counterintuitive to her first message. It starts off wrong in the first verse and never gets better.

Verse 1

"And don't forget the flowers every anniversary
'Cause if you'll treat me right
I'll be the perfect wife
Buying groceries
Buy-buying what you need."

Since when does being the "perfect" wife equate to buying groceries? She may go on to state how she's independent, has her own job and that he shouldn't expect a never-ending flow of desserts pouring from their oven. But we're still a little chagrined over the idea that 1. The key to being a good husband is remembering to buy flowers for anniversaries, and 2. The way to be a good wife is to be the shopper. Grocery shopping sucks! Why do we have to be the ones to do it?

Verse 3

"Dear future husband,
Make time for me
Don't leave me lonely
And know we'll never see your family more than mine
I'll be sleeping on the left side of the bed (hey)
Open doors for me and you may get some kisses."

So much is wrong with this. Trainor might simply be implying that she doesn't want a dude who never makes special time for her, but this just comes off as needy and like she wants to occupy all his time. We also don't like the implied scenario that when a girl isn't with her man, she's automatically lonely. We're actually capable of having a good time without our dudes. Seriously. And, yes, we love a polite guy to open doors for us. However, we're not going to withhold physical contact just because he's not the knight-in-shining-armor type. Because...

Why would we withhold sex?

"If you wanna get that special lovin'
Tell me I'm beautiful each and every night."

Also...

"After every fight
Just apologize
And maybe then I'll let you try and rock my body right."

There is nothing more annoying for a guy or for a rational girl than some chick refusing to have sex just because her boyfriend wasn't perfect enough that day. It creates this stigma that only guys have any sort of sex drive and that we're around simply to offer ourselves to them when they act like good guys. We can't speak for all women, but it's safe to say that most women also enjoy sex. Holding out simply because your guy didn't make you feel like a unique little snowflake that day or because he didn't let you win an argument isn't just "hurting" him... it's hurting yourself. Grow up. Argue it out until you come to a real conclusion and learn to see your own beauty instead of relying on some idiot to offer up a compliment.

Trainor's voice is unique and we enjoy her musical style. However, "Dear Future Husband" harkens back to the "Love Story" days of Taylor Swift and we still think that delivers the wrong message to girls. You don't need a knight to save you or a man's compliments to make you truly beautiful. Women are their own gorgeous, strong, sexual beings. This kind of song suggests otherwise, though, and we're not down with that logic.

10 Things you didn't know about J.J. Totah

7 Steps to becoming an iconic comedian: The Joan Rivers legacy >>

1. He's already got an impressive résumé

At 13, this wunderkind has already had spots on some pretty adult shows and he's proven his chops are strong enough to keep up with his adult peers. What's so impressive is his lack of fear and total confidence. He's not intimidated by proven stars like Benedict Cumberbatch, whom Totah recently interviewed and totally overshadowed.

2. He's a rock star at stand-up comedy

Any professional comic will tell you that taking the stage is nerve-wracking for even the most seasoned of stand-up performers. The mic stand is quite a bit taller than Totah, but he doesn't balk at the pressure of performing for even an iota of a second. He does hilarious impersonations, owns the stage and is clearly not parroting a memorized timed-out set. The kid interacts with the audience like a pro.

3. He's got an impressive social media following that continues to grow

With 51,853 Instagram followers, 7,138 loyal twitterers and 827 YouTube subscribers, the kid is no slouch. However, those numbers will undoubtedly be multiplying as time goes on.

4. He's still just a kid

Totah is obviously an entertaining genius, but his social media accounts show that he's also just a young teen looking to have fun with his friends.

5. He started entertaining super early

According to IMDb, Totah started making YouTube videos at age 6 and was soon involved in theater. He knew at a young age that he was born to entertain.

6. He's not afraid to give his opinion on the ridiculousness of reality stars

After a trip to the bookstore, Totah returned home with a novel written by none other than Kendall and Kylie Jenner. "First of all... why are they writing a sci-fi novel? Usually like a fashion blog or 'Oooh, how to use eyeliner...' that is, like, odd," Totah comments about the book in a YouTube video. "That is like Michelle Obama writing a book about how to use a toilet."

7. But he's still a Kim K fan

JJ Totah and Kim K

8. His pet peeve is that people don't have enough pet peeves

"Today, I am doing my pet peeves," Totah says in one of his YouTube videos. "And notice I say 'pet peeves,' because some people have one pet peeve, but that means you're crazy because this world is so messed up, everyone should have pet peeves," he adds, emphasis on the "s."

9. He supports the LBGT community

Last fall, Totah posted a video announcing that he would be wearing purple on Oct. 17 in honor of GLAAD Spirit Day and encouraging other kids to participate. "We want to show these kids that it's OK to be who you are and just have fun," he said.

10. He, like so many others, felt the loss of Robin Williams

Totah looked up to Williams as a comedian and took to Instagram to express his loss after Williams' passing. "RIP Robin Williams. You inspired me to be an actor," he said.

10 Things you didn't know about Total Divas' Rosa Mendes >>

The new season of The Rachael Ray Show will feature humanitarian efforts, health-oriented programming and even nudity in the form of a "Strip Chef" segment and Ray admits that all of her efforts are geared toward creating an atmosphere where everyone feels like they are hanging out with friends. While talking with Ray, SheKnows found that that the easygoing chef knows exactly how to do just that.

Rachael Ray's large donation to needy pets >>

1. She likes to use her gift to give back

For season nine of her show, Ray has partnered with Share Our Strength and Feed America and made the commitment to feed nine million hungry Americans over the course of the season. "Since I make my living through food, it's always been the way I chose to give back," she said.

2. Vocal cord surgery six years ago led to an exercise epiphany

"I wasted a lot of my adult life not understanding the importance of exercising every day," Ray admitted. After surgery to repair her vocal cords, Ray couldn't speak for three months and turned to exercise to cope. "I started running out of frustration and it's the best thing that every happened to me," she said. "I go to the gym six days a week and it doesn't matter to me whether or not you're a size 0 or a size 6 or a size 26, but I do think it helps your mental well-being to try and keep a certain level of physical fitness."

10 Things you didn't know about Sam Smith >>

3. She has more energy than the Energizer Bunny

Ray says she usually shoots three episodes a day and she wouldn't have it any other way. "It's fun! It's really, really fun," she exclaimed. "And it goes fairly fast. I'm up every day by six or so and I don't get home until seven, but some days it feels like it's over in a blink."

4. She's a huge fan of Neil Patrick Harris' Hedwig and the Angry Inch

Ray says she is super excited for NPH to be on her show. "I just saw Hedwig, his second to last show. It was maybe the greatest live performance I've ever seen," Ray gushed. "He was absolutely phenomenal. "It was amazing. Literally amazing."

5. She specially caters her green room to every celeb on her show

"We are very proud of our green room production! We cater it to everyone's needs and wants," Ray said. "There is nothing we don't like making for people."

6. The first gourmet meal she ever made was for her mom at age 11

Ray may be able to perfectly prepare a full meal nowadays, but she admits she wasn't always as adept. The first meal she ever prepared on her own was for her mother's birthday and she remembers it perfectly. "Lasagna roll-ups with a spinach mushroom stuffing and a gorgonzola sauce," she recalled. "And I made the fabulous wine pairing of making her a mimosa to go with it. Which makes me want to gag."

7. She likes cooking with kids more than cooking with adults

"Children don't have any rules," Ray said of cooking with little protégés. "Once they get into cooking, their imagination just runs away with them and with the food."

8. Her first day at The Food Network she hacked off her finger and glued it back on

Ray says cameras kept rolling after a painful mishap and her digit hasn't really been the same since. "Now that finger is like a trick finger and at parties I can stick it in an open flame and make money on how long I can leave it there because I can't really feel anything," she revealed. "Yeah, it never fell off but it's pretty dead."

9. She'll eat anything

"I've eaten anything on the planet," Ray said. "I've had lots of bugs, crispy fried maggot, eyeballs, brains... all sorts of innards. There isn't anything I won't eat."

10. She is constantly coming up with new recipes in her head

"I keep a notebook with me at all times," Ray told SheKnows. "I must write recipes every single day of my life... I keep a notebook by my bed. It's sort of like a musician... I like to virtual-cook in my head."

This post is sponsored by ABC7 Los Angeles, where you can watch Rachael Ray Monday through Friday at 1 p.m. Check your local listings for airtime.

Stunning pink ombre layer cake even amateur bakers can make

$

Trust me, when I say anyone, I mean anyone. No degree from CIA or Martha Stewart required. All you need is some time (try a rainy afternoon) and lots of friends who can ooh and aah over it when it's done. Because you'll have a lot of oohing and aahing.

Beautiful ombre & chevron cake

To begin, grab 2 boxes of your favorite white cake mix, and mix it all up with the necessary ingredients. If you have kids, then have them do this part while you sip some wine. You know, to save your creative juices for the decorating.

Beautiful ombre & chevron cake

Once you've mixed, then you play! Separate the white mix into 4 bowls, and then tint each one a different shade of red. Or blue, or green or purple. Whatever color you feel like using. I was feeling very feminine, so I picked pink.

Beautiful ombre & chevron cake

Once the batters are dyed (and your fingers are too), pour them into 4 greased round cake pans, and bake until a toothpick inserted in the middles comes out clean. Then you let these babies cool. Here's where you can have another glass of wine to reignite your creative juices.

Beautiful ombre & chevron cake

Once the cakes are baked, it's frosting time! Add big globs of your favorite store-bought white frosting to the tops of the layers, and stack them up. I went light to dark, but you can do the opposite. Whatever tickles your fancy.

Beautiful ombre & chevron cake

Beautiful ombre & chevron cake

Then you use the rest of your frosting to cover the sides and the top layer. Next comes the slightly trickier part. Now you have to roll out your white fondant into a big enough circle so it completely covers the entire cake. You'll probably have to pinch the fondant in the back so it's smooth and tight on the frosting.

Beautiful ombre & chevron cake

Here's where those creative juices really flow. Now you want to make a chevron pattern to trace onto your favorite color of fondant. (I used bright pink to keep with the whole feminine theme.) I traced and cut out a large enough chevron pattern to cover the circumference of the cake. Add a dab of frosting to the back of the chevron, and carefully "paste" it onto the white fondant.

Beautiful ombre & chevron cake

For some added flair, I decorated the cake with fake flowers (in lieu of candles) and added some colored dots.

Beautiful ombre & chevron cake

Once the cake is decorated, then comes the best part — the eating. Slice that baby up, and impress all your friends with your Cake Boss abilities.

Pink ombre layer cake with chevron fondant decoration recipe

Serves 8

Ingredients:

  • 2 boxes white cake mix
  • 6 egg whites
  • 2/3 cup canola oil
  • 2-1/2 cups water
  • Red food dye
  • 3 canisters white frosting
  • White rolled fondant
  • Pink rolled fondant

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease 4 dark, round, nonstick, 8 x 8-inch cake pans with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the cake mix, egg whites, canola oil and water. Stir until no clumps remain. Separate the batter into 4 bowls. Tint each bowl with drops of red food coloring, aiming to get 4 distinctly different shades of pink. Pour the batters into the 4 prepared pans, and bake for about 18 to 22 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the middles comes out clean.
  3. Let the cakes cool completely. Once cooled, frost the top of each cake, layering them on top of one another as you go. Once layered, frost the sides and the top cake layer until completely coated.
  4. Roll out the white fondant into a large circle or rectangle (until it's large enough to completely cover the frosting on the cake). Carefully cut off the remaining fondant, and tighten the sheet around the cake until smooth.
  5. Using a printed-out chevron cutout, trace the pattern onto a sheet of rolled-out pink (or other color) fondant. Using a sharp knife, cut out the chevron pattern. Add frosting to the back of the patterned fondant, and carefully place it along the side of the white cake until it wraps fully around.
  6. Add some flowers to the top of the cake, and then slice and serve.
