The death of James Brady takes a shocking twist: Homicide

According to NBC4 Washington, the medical examiner has ruled that Brady died as a result of the injuries he suffered 33 years ago. Gunman John Hinckley Jr. could be charged with federal murder.

Former White House press secretary James Brady dies at 73 >>

NBC News justice correspondent Pete Williams said in his TV report, "There is no statute of limitations on murder in either the federal or state system. We are a long way from knowing what the federal authorities are going to do with this, or whether they are going to do anything with it."

The wounds the White House worker suffered caused partial paralysis and slurred speech. In his post-Washington years, he was a huge proponent of gun control, including the historic legislation passed in 1993.

Brady passed away on Monday at the age of 73.

Hinckley is currently institutionalized at St. Elizabeth's, a psychiatric hospital outside of Washington, D.C. At the trial, he was found not guilty by reason of insanity.

Besides wounding Reagan and Brady in the assassination attempt, Hinckley also injured police officer Thomas Delahanty and Secret Service Agent Timothy McCarthy outside of the Washington Hilton Hotel.

NPR reporter Margot Adler loses her battle with cancer >>

Hinckley's family has been trying to secure him a permanent leave from the hospital, and he has been given numerous weeks-long visits to their home in Williamsburg, Virginia. This ruling may affect the family's ongoing case as prosecutors review the medical examiner's findings.

Brady's wife, Sarah, is taking the news in stride. A family spokeswoman told NBC, "This isn't a surprise to anybody or to her, given that his health was impacted and he suffered such consequences over the years. If that is the case, it is in the prosecutors' hands and it is up to them."

The Lonely Island headed to the big screen

Universal Pictures is developing the as-yet-untitled film, starring Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer, and Jorma Taccone. Although story specifics have yet to be released, we do know the film will be set in the music world, which means plenty of opportunities for the band to showcase new tunes.

In other words, we're willing to bet that the soundtrack is going to be amazing.

The boys of Lonely Island began working together in 2005, when all three were on Saturday Night Live — Samberg as a cast member and Schaffer and Taccone as writers.

Ben & Jerry’s launches SNL-themed ice cream >>

Comedy genius Judd Apatow (Forgetting Sarah Marshall, This is 40) is producing, with Schaffer and Taccone set to co-direct.

Although this will be the trio's first Lonely Island feature film, the three do have a big-screen past, having developed the 2007 comedy Hot Rod together.

No word yet on whether frequent collaborator Justin Timberlake will appear, but what would a Lonely Island movie be without one of Samberg's best oh-so-sexy co-crooners? The duo delivered some of our favorite SNL digital shorts of all time, like hits D*** in a Box and Motherlover.

Seth Rogen, Judd Apatow: Why not support #YesAllWomen instead? >>

Whether or not JT signs on, we're pretty sure the film will feature plenty of hilarious guest spots from other celebrities, considering how many of our favorite stars have already worked with the group.

Since leaving SNL, The Lonely Island guys have released a number of hit parody songs featuring collaborations with notable artists like Lady Gaga, Pharrell Williams, Nicki Minaj, Robyn, Solange Knowles, Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong and even Hugh Jackman.

The Interview's release date pushed: Is it because of Kim Jong-un? >>

The Lonely Island's most recent album, The Wack Album, debuted at No. 10 on the Billboard 200 chart.

No release date has been set, but you can appease your need for more Lonely Island with another look at "Jack Sparrow," the group's 2011 hit collaboration with Michael Bolton.

Julia Roberts errs on the "boyish" side of girly things

"I think I've always sort of been on the more boyish spectrum of girls," the mom of three shared while speaking with InStyle for the September issue. "For example, I've never been chosen as 'one of the top-five hottest actresses in a bikini.'"

VIDEO: Jimmy Fallon plays "Face Balls" with Julia Roberts >>

How it's possible the woman who once wore that iconic midriff-baring white and blue Pretty Woman ensemble didn't get noticed, we're not sure, but it seems Roberts isn't shedding tears over being overlooked.

"And honestly, it's a godsend," she said. "When I was younger, I'd think, 'Oh, I'm the prettiest one. It's not Halle Berry. It's not!' But it is, you know?"

Despite her A-list celebrity status, the actress, who has been dealing with her sister's tragic passing, feels like she's just one of the many women out there trying to get their work and home life to mesh.

Can you decode the most recognizable smiles in Hollywood? >>

The talented beauty went on to share that she's well aware she's always been a hit with the mom crowd. "Even when I was 20, they were my demographic," she explained. "I work for the moms."

Venting about the one question she never wants to be asked again — "How do you do it all?" — Roberts laid out the honest truth about why that inquiry bothers her so much.

"Because, A, I'm not nearly as busy as people think, B, half of everything just doesn't get done — as long as no one is in tears, nobody smells bad and everyone's sleeping peacefully, I've done my job — and C, I have a supportive group of girlfriends, a great husband and an understanding family. The rest gets done with grit, spit and a whole lot of duct tape."

There's more from the actress in the latest issue of InStyle magazine, due out digitally and on newsstands August 15.

Swim with the fishes with this creamy “beach” pie

Having a whole week dedicated to learning about and increasing respect for sharks is a great idea, although I am, in all honesty, scared of sharks. I do think they are fascinating, though. In honor of Shark Week, this pie is blue like the ocean and has its own beach, with fish swimming through the water. Just watch out — you never know when a shark might appear.

This pie starts out with some blue Jell-O that has been dissolved in boiling water. After that, you stir it in with whipped topping until completely combined.

53e3b22be741b31cb36eaaf7

Once the mixture is combined, transfer it into a premade or store-bought graham cracker crust. The mixture needs a good 8 hours to set, so it's best to do this the night before you want the pie ready.

Ocean water jell-o pie

Once the pie is all set up, it's ready to be decorated.

Start out by putting golden sandwich cookies into a blender or food processor, and pulse until fine crumbs are created. These crumbs will make up the sandy beach on the pie. You don't need to remove the cream from the cookies to create the crumbs.

Ocean water jell-o pie

After you have the "sand" crumbs, spread them over 1/2 the pie. Create a jagged ridge like a beach has. Fill in the beach section with all the crumbs.

Next, it's time to create people on the beach. The "people" are M&M's candies, and they are shaded by little drink umbrellas. You can find these miniature umbrellas at most party stores or online.

Ocean water jell-o pie

After the beach is finished, it's time to jazz up the water a bit. Combine frosting with blue food coloring, then fit a frosting bag with a #3 tip, and fill it with the blue frosting. Pipe waves into the ocean.

Finally, it's time to place the fish (or sharks if you have them) into the water. Place the candy fish on the pie, either inserting them into or placing them on top of the frosting.

Now it's time to celebrate Shark Week — grab a slice of this pie, and you're good to go.

Ocean water jell-o pie

Ocean-themed Jell-O pie recipe

Serves 6-8

Ingredients:

  • 1 premade graham cracker crust
  • 1 (3 ounce) package Berry Blue Jell-O
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 1 (8 ounce) tub Cool Whip topping, completely thawed
  • 8 golden sandwich cookies
  • M&M's candies
  • 3-4 drink umbrellas or parasol picks
  • 1/4 cup plain frosting
  • 2-3 drops blue food coloring
  • Candy fish or sharks

Directions:

  1. Remove the plastic packaging from the graham cracker crust, and set the crust aside.
  2. Combine the Jell-O and boiling water, and stir until completely dissolved. Allow the mixture to cool completely, and then gently fold in the whipped topping.
  3. Once it's pretty much combined, you can beat together the ingredients. Pour the mixture into the graham cracker crust, and place the pie in the fridge for at least 8 hours.
  4. Once the pie has set, you can decorate it.
  5. In a blender or food processor, blend the golden sandwich cookies into crumbs. Decorate 1/2 the pie with the crumbs to look like sand on a beach.
  6. Place the M&M's in small groups to look like people congregating on the beach, and then set up the umbrellas near the "people."
  7. In a small bowl, combine the frosting and blue food coloring. Stir until the frosting is blue, and then fill a frosting bag fitted with a #3 tip.
  8. Pipe the frosting onto the "ocean" to make waves.
  9. Place the fish or shark candies in the water section, either inserting them into the pie or on top of the waves.
  10. Cut into large slices, and enjoy.

Back to school: What moms care about, and what they don't

$

It wouldn't be back-to-school season without a few shopping meltdowns. School dress codes and insane supply lists can bring the savviest of moms down. We asked moms about shopping trends and found that over half hadn't budgeted for back-to-school shopping. Moms are also spending more on clothes than school supplies. Does this sound like your back-to-school shopping routine?

Shopping wasn't the only source of back-to-school headaches. Most moms are more concerned about their kids than they are about shopping. Behavior in class, bullying and fitting in were the top three concerns. Moms also yearn for more time to help kids with homework, volunteer and chaperone school trips.

Check our our exclusive infographic for some fridge-worthy back-to-school findings that will show you that you're not alone.

Pea, melon and feta salad is like summer on a plate

I love it when a vast array of colorful and aromatic fruits and vegetables graces the stands in the markets. There is a lot to choose from, and the fresh salads I can put together are countless. I tend to be more inspired to create new dishes with the availability of fresh ingredients. Aside from the flavors, what stimulates me is the contrast of the vibrant colors of the fruits and vegetables.

Peas, melon and feta salad with elderflower vinaigrette recipe

What I like about this salad is that the flavors of the ingredients don't compete with one another. There is a certain smooth flow of floral and fruity accents that are very summery and light. It epitomizes what summer is all about in one beautiful plate.

Peas, melon and feta salad with elderflower vinaigrette recipe

Serves 2

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup peas (frozen or fresh)
  • 3 cups melon balls (taken from 1 small melon)
  • 1 cup lettuce (any kind)
  • 1 cup arugula
  • 3 ounces feta cheese, crumbled
  • 1 tablespoon elderflower syrup (can be substituted with other berry syrups, like raspberry)
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 3 tablespoons wine vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons almond oil (or extra-virgin olive oil)
  • Salt and pepper

Directions:

  1. In a small pot over high heat, boil some salted water. Fill a small bowl with ice and water to blanch the peas.
  2. Once the water is boiling, cook the peas for 1 minute, and then transfer them to the bowl of ice and water. Leave them there until they cool down, and then drain and set them aside.
  3. In a small bowl, prepare the vinaigrette by whisking together the elderflower syrup, Dijon mustard, wine vinegar, almond oil, salt and pepper. Adjust quantities according to taste. Set aside.
  4. In a serving bowl, distribute the lettuce, arugula, melon, peas and feta.
  5. When ready to eat, pour the vinaigrette onto the salad.

Pizza with heavenly burrata, Parma ham and pan-roasted figs. Oh yes!

Burrata is an Italian cheese that looks similar to mozzarella, but there is more to it than just mozzarella. Inside this ball is a delicious cream that delicately oozes out once you break the outer layer. These two cheeses are cousins, both coming from the southern part of Italy but from different regions. But we don't want to dwell on their family tree, because there is something more important waiting for us.

Pizza with burrata and pan roasted figs recipe

These pizza slices, already baked and warm, are topped with burrata, Parma ham and pan-roasted figs in balsamic vinegar and Marsala wine. The flavors are outstanding! To make things easy, you can just use baked white pizzas from your local baker or get prepared dough from the supermarket. But of course, the taste of homemade pizza is better sometimes. If you are interested in making pizza from scratch, then see the recipe below.

Pizza with burrata, Parma ham and pan-roasted figs recipe

Serves 6

Ingredients:

  • 6 figs, quartered
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 1/4 cup Marsala wine (can be replaced with port; you can also go without, but expect a simpler taste)
  • 6 slices baked white pizza (if making pizza dough from scratch, see recipe below)
  • 2 (9 ounce) burrata balls
  • 6 slices ham (Parma ham, if possible)
  • Ground pepper

Directions:

  1. In a medium saucepan over low-medium heat, distribute the figs, and then add the sugar, balsamic vinegar and Marsala wine.
  2. When the figs have become soft and the sauce has thickened, turn off the heat, and let the mixture cool.
  3. Carefully break the burrata, and distribute it on top of all the slices of warm, baked white pizza.
  4. Place 1 slice of ham on top of the burrata.
  5. Distribute the figs on top of the ham.
  6. Sprinkle with pepper, and serve immediately.

Note: Don't let the burrata sit too long on the pizza, because the pizza can become soggy.

Pizza dough recipe

Yields 3

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups bread flour (preferably Double Zero "00"), plus extra for sprinkling
  • 1/2 cup lukewarm water, plus extra if necessary
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 ounce fresh baker's yeast cube (or 0.25 ounce dried yeast in sachet)
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil

Directions:

  1. On a wooden board or in a bowl, make a little mountain of flour, and mix in the salt. Make a hole in the middle.
  2. In another bowl, mix the baker's yeast with the water and sugar. Mix until the yeast and sugar are completely dissolved. Leave the mixture for 10 minutes, and then little by little, pour it into the hole in the middle of the flour.
  3. Use your index finger to mix the flour with the liquid. Start from the center, and move outward in a circular motion. Add the olive oil and then more water if necessary.
  4. Knead until you have a compact ball of dough.
  5. Put the dough in a big bowl, and cover it with a cloth. Let it rise between 2 and 4 hours at room temperature. You can also leave it overnight. If you are in a hurry, then put it in the oven at 90 degrees F for 1 hour.
  6. When the dough has risen, divide it into 3 equal parts. It should be elastic.
  7. Sprinkle the wooden board with flour. Flatten the dough (1 of the 3 you divided), and make round pizzas. You can also work on each section of dough by flattening it with your hands and stretching the sides little by little.
  8. Now you're ready to use the pizza dough for any recipe.

It's official (again): Danity Kane breaks up

Danity Kane serves haters a glass of "Lemonade" on new song >>

On Tuesday, news leaked that group members Aubrey O'Day and Dawn Richard had a scuffle that ended with Richard punching O'Day and O'Day filing a police report of battery by Richard.

O'Day and the third member of Danity Kane, Shannon Bex, both released personal statements on the Danity Kane website to share their sorrow — and their side of the story — with fans.

"During a recent group meeting, a business conversation took a turn for the worse when my group member punched me in the back of my head while I was speaking to another associate," O'Day's statement read. "To be clear, she was not physically engaged or threatened prior to her attack on me. This is the same information I provided to the police, and witnesses also corroborated this account of the incident. I cannot condone or excuse any form of physical violence, particularly at the hands of someone I considered family. Disagreements happen. But a war of words and and ideas should never end in physical aggression." O'Day also insinuated that Richards' "dark" behavior was nothing new and had in fact been going on for a while.

Bex's statement backed up O'Day's, saying, "As for the actions that have brought upon this broken ending, I cannot speak for anyone or explain their internal struggles that prompted this heartbreaking sequence of events. All I know is what I have seen. I did not witness a shouting match, a catfight or a brawl. I witnessed a single direct punch." Bex added that she had experienced "escalating events that led to my overall frustrations with Dawn... months ago."

Richard told TMZ that the accounts regarding her violent behavior are "exaggerated lies and and false accusations." TMZ is also reporting that the altercation between Richard and O'Day erupted after Richard found out that O'Day and Bex had been meeting and recording new tracks behind her back.

The group's breakup comes just one year after the announcement that Danity Kane would be reuniting and less than a month after the women released social media teasers from their upcoming album.

David Duchovny and Téa Leoni officially file for divorce

Zooey Deschanel splits from long-term beau Jamie Linden >>

Leoni and Duchovny, who were married for 17 years, filed for divorce in June and cited "an irretrievable breakdown" as the reason for their permanent separation, according to TMZ via People magazine. A source close to the couple also confirmed with People that the couple actually split months ago.

Although Leoni will have primary physical custody of their two children, Kyd, 12, and Madelaine, 15, the two entertainers will share joint custody of their offspring. Duchovny will be required to pay $8,000 a month in child support, along with a whopping $40,000 a month in spousal support. In addition to the monthly support, the former X-Files star will also be required to pay for his children's educational expenses.

Duchovny and Leoni's marriage has been a public roller-coaster ride since August 2008, when Duchovny entered a rehab facility to treat sex addiction. "I have voluntarily entered a facility for the treatment of sex addiction," the Californication actor said at the time in a statement through his lawyer. "I ask for respect and privacy for my wife and children as we deal with this situation as a family."

The couple announced their first split in October of 2008, just weeks after Duchovny had been released from treatment. Around the same time, rumors began to swirl that Duchovny had been sleeping with his tennis instructor, Edit Pakay, causing the breakup. A spokesperson for the actor denied the affair, but Pakay reportedly did not. "If you want to write that we have an affair, then fine," Pakay said at the time, according to The Mail On Sunday. "I will not argue against it. Nor will David. But he cannot talk about it because he is going through a divorce, nor can I." That same month, rumors also surfaced that Leoni was actually having an affair with her Smell of Success co-star, Billy Bob Thornton, but the gossip was quickly squashed by Thornton.

Leoni and Duchovny reconciled soon after their separation in 2008. They called it quits again in June 2011 and quickly got back together the following month.

Popular baby names by decade

1900s

Let's begin with the most popular baby names of the 1900s, when the first Nobel prizes were awarded, Times Square held its first New Year's Eve celebration and Einstein postulated E=mc2.

1910s

Despite the devastation brought about by World War I, the Spanish flu and the sinking of the Titanic, this decade gave us the Federal Reserve Bank, the Panama Canal Treaty and the first crossword puzzle.

1920s

The first Miss America pageant and the first Academy Awards were held. The Walt Disney Company was founded, and Babe Ruth hit 60 home runs. Meanwhile, the stock market crashed, and the Great Depression began.

1930s

The western half of the nation was busy with the legalization of gambling in Nevada, the opening of Alcatraz prison and the building of Hoover Dam. Around the world, Mahatma Gandhi led the Salt March, Hitler took control of Germany and oil was discovered in Saudi Arabia.

1940s

Mount Rushmore, the Pentagon and the Jefferson Memorial were completed. NATO was formed, and the First General Assembly of the United Nations commenced. The boy names remained consistent, while the girls' top five added the decade's biggest mover, Linda.

1950s

Alaska and Hawaii were admitted to the Union. The first McDonald's restaurant opened, and the first Barbie doll was sold. The Soviets launched Sputnik 1, and the U.S. launched Explorer 1.

1960s

Ford Motors introduced the Mustang. Nelson Mandela was jailed. The Beatles came to the U.S., and the first man walked on the moon.

1970s

The World Trade Center was dedicated, and the Sydney Opera House opened. President Nixon resigned, and Muhammad Ali retired. Microsoft and Apple Computer were founded, and Star Wars hit the big screen. For the first time this century, the names Mary and John were not in the top five:

1980s

Prince Charles wed Lady Diana Spencer. Oprah Winfrey hosted her first televised talk show. Calvin and Hobbes was introduced, and the space shuttle was launched. The top baby names reflected some of the decade's hottest pop stars:

1990s

The Eurotunnel opened. President Clinton signed NAFTA into law. Tiger Woods won the Masters. Google was launched, and O.J. Simpson was acquitted of murder.

2000s

Jacob would rise to the No. 1 boy's spot and enjoy a 14-year run at the top. (It was finally beaten in 2013 by this new "most popular.") While many parents opt for traditional baby girl names, the charts are also ripe with unique new spellings and plenty of surprising unisex names. Interestingly, five of this decade's most popular names were also in the top 100 names of 1900.

Does Selena Gomez's Teen Choice Awards speech hint at personal strife?

Surprise: Selena Gomez gets new ink with special meaning >>

Gomez is at least a double threat, as an actress and a singer, and has shown that a Disney star can grow up and become an important voice for teens everywhere. But Gomez's tearful acceptance speech showed that there may be more to the successful star.

"I have to be honest, especially this month, I cannot thank you guys [enough] because you remind me — amidst all the stuff we deal with personally — you remind of what is important and that is giving and loving and caring about each other," Gomez said.

"I am not trying to preach or anything like that, it's just that you guys make me better," Gomez added.

Gomez has been dealing with personal drama, including a breakup and rekindling and breakup (again) with her on-again, off-again boyfriend Justin Bieber. She has also spoken out about her dislike of being in the public eye, is rumored to be struggling with lupus and also entered rehab earlier this year. But above it all, she remains a talented actress and singer, and finished her speech by thanking the one constant in her life — her mom.

"I want to thank my mom so much because she is the greatest human being in the world and she is so strong and she has given up her life for me," Gomez said.

Selena Gomez takes power back: How does she define power? >>

Gomez is in great company for the Ultimate Choice Award. According to E! News, past celebs who have been honored with the award include Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Ashton Kutcher, Reese Witherspoon, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Mike Myers and Venus and Serena Williams.

"This never belongs to me, this belongs to you," Gomez said to her fans. "Thank you for letting me do what I love."

Tyler Posey, on a beach, next to a surfboard, with his abs showing? There's nothing wrong with that. We're totally OK with being reminded he's co-hosting the Teen Choice Awards this year — it keeps us from forgetting to set our DVRs.

Oh, Tyler Posey. If we were you, we'd kiss you too. We're not even sure that made sense, but sometimes love doesn't. Am I right, or am I right?

Is Mercury retrograde? No, but the Moon occulting Uranus in Aries on Aug. 14 may make it feel that way. Uranus rules over modern technology, so expect all kinds of crazy things to happen when the Moon hides Uranus' light. These could range from your smartphone going on the fritz to your computer suffering a spontaneous meltdown. Given the unpredictable nature of Uranus, these glitches might also work to your advantage in that you could find yourself mysteriously upgraded or issued a surprise refund. Be open to anything that's out of the ordinary. There may be opportunity in the fiasco.

You'll wake up on Aug. 12 with a burning desire to replace that old couch that's on its last legs with something new. And once you get started with one piece of furniture, it will be impossible to stop there. In fact, you could be pouring over swatches and new paint colors by week's end. It's hard to resist the redecorating bug when Venus is passing through that part of your solar chart that pertains to house and home. Thankfully, Venus' conjunction to Jupiter brings good fortune in the form of price breaks, closeout sales and layaway plans.

You may be wondering what you're getting out of your current job situation. It's hard to justify the hard work and long hours when you look at your paycheck. Plus, watching acquaintances and friends change companies every few months certainly doesn't build confidence. What you're doing right now is paying your dues. Yes, it's a lot of grunt work, but you're also acquiring experience, mastering skills and building a track record. It may not seem like much now, but it will one day when you’re ready to make that big career leap that leaves everyone else in the dust.

Lucky you! Venus, the people-pleasing planet, will be passing under the beams of Jupiter this week. People always want to give you things when Venus is powerful. They may not give you the shirts off their backs, but they will share whatever surplus they have. If they have two of a certain item, then they will give you one, or someone might even pass you the keys to his or her beachfront condo for the weekend. Also, keep an eye out for windfalls, lucky breaks and unexpected bonuses. They won't change your income bracket, but they'll surely brighten your day.

Are you and a superior finally seeing eye to eye, or have you settled on an uneasy truce? It bothers you when someone doesn't like you and you can't figure out the reason why. Chances are it's because you're inadvertently stealing this person's thunder. It's not easy striking a balance between being the best that you can be while trying not to step on anyone's toes. Be grateful for the cease-fire and recognize the borders set by professionalism. Stick to your side of the fence, your superior will stick to hers, and you two should get along famously.

You'll finally find your voice when Mercury enters Virgo on Aug. 15. You've felt muzzled for weeks, but now that you're in possession of all the facts, you're ready to speak your mind. It's important to bring light rather than heat to a contentious situation. People are turning to you for insight and advice. This is a tall order, but if you remember to serve the information and to trust in its timeliness, then you will do the best thing that anyone can do, which is to deliver the message and let the news speak for itself.

Don't be surprised when an agreement comes undone on Aug. 14. These things often happen when the Moon occults Uranus, the planet of unexpected twists and surprise revelations. Evidently, the person making you a promise wasn't in the position to promise anything. Either he didn't clear things with the proper channels or he overlooked a certain technicality. You will probably have to renegotiate this whole thing from scratch. Be ready for some kind of reduction of what was initially offered. You can judge for yourself whether this will still be worth it on Aug. 26 and 27.

Mars and Pluto form a rare sextile on Aug. 15. Sextiles are all about alignment, and you will see an alignment between your inner intentions and outer circumstances that will only grow stronger in the weeks to come. It's the stars' way of bringing together two worlds that might not otherwise intersect. This is the time to move any heartfelt pursuit out of the hobby column and into the moneymaking column because Mars/Pluto sextiles are auspicious for start-ups, launches and expansions. All that's required is a serious effort on your part to make your dream a reality.

You are entering a dramatically transformative time. For months you have struggled with bad luck, misplaced trust and broken promises. There were days when you didn't want to get out of bed because you couldn't stomach another disappointment. Nevertheless, you persevered, and the planets show that you are on the cusp of being rewarded for your efforts. But don't make the Sagittarian mistake of loosening your grip on the reins when you're within reach of your goal. Mars' recent sojourn into Libra (December 2013 thru July 25) taught you the folly of getting your hopes up as you saw one failed promise fall into the next in a collapsing row of dominoes. But truth be told, this had less to do with the people you were counting on and more to do with the craziness of their lives. In any case, this week's shift in planetary energies shows that many — if not all of them — are ready to deliver on the promises that they made. This could give you reason for hope after all.

This gets you questioning whether you are moving too quickly or forcefully toward your goal. Perhaps. But when is it ever the right time for change? Know that what you're doing isn't haphazard, and even though people may resist and resent, they will still follow your lead because they know that change is good.

Escapist tendencies are strong with Mars moving through that part of your solar chart that pertains to long journeys. Burnt out and exhausted, you long to get lost in some faraway place. There's nothing wrong with that as long as you know that certain big life decisions will be waiting for you when you get back. One has to do with where you're living and the other with what you do for a living. A change of scene is good for recharging psychic batteries and for unlocking mental wheels. This gives you a fresh perspective on familiar terrain.

You've never been a big believer in the saying that love saves the day but you may experience an eleventh hour conversion on Aug. 17 when Venus conjoins Jupiter in Leo. Leo is the zodiac sign of the heart. The heart is the seat of our emotions, our character and our candor. The heart is also the seat of our courage and courage is what you — or your lover — will finally summon up after weeks of skirting around the issue. It's time to speak from the heart and express your true feelings. You won't be disappointed.

The kids won't be so contrary, the in-laws will be eerily cooperative, and even your pets will show a new-found respect and appreciation. Life will be on the mend for the next 3-1/2 weeks. That said you may still want to do a quick Google search to make sure that somebody somewhere didn't post some compromising video of you doing something that you shouldn't have done. Virgo isn't a zodiac sign that most people think of when they think of mistresses. And Virgos like it this way. Let everyone believe that you're a prude. It makes it easier to cover your traces. Now Virgos don't really go out looking for these sorts of relationships — in fact you want the opposite. But you have this unfortunate tendency to let a man take over your life when you get romantically involved which is why you tend to go for the "otherwise engaged" paramours whom circumstances keep on a short leash. This ensures that you can have your cake and eat it too.

Teen Choice Awards 2014: 5 Reasons Shailene Woodley won the entire night

1. Two words: girl power

In her acceptance speech for "Choice Movie Actress: Action" for Divergent, Woodley took the opportunity to lift up females everywhere — noting that she was honored to be accepting on behalf of all women and her Divergent character Tris Prior in particular.

QUIZ: Dressing their age? Can you guess the age of these Teen Choice nominees? >>

"Through the evolution of the movie, you get to watch her grow and you get to watch her find her own confidence, which in turn brings her bravery," said Woodley. "In my opinion, I think you can be brave and you can jump off buildings — well, don't jump off buildings — but you can be brave and jump off trains, but the truest form of bravery and courage is to wake up every single day and be ourselves."

2. She eked in a Shark Week shout-out

Yep, you heard that right. Woodley inadvertently contributed to #TeenChoice not being able to totally dominate trending Twitter topics by mentioning the one holdout in the top 10: #SharkWeek.

"So you do you, I'm gonna do me, she's gonna do she, and hopefully I'll be brave enough to actually take this into the water during Shark Week," she joked about her surfboard award at the end of her inspiring acceptance speech.

3. Who took over Taylor Swift's awkward front-row dancing? This girl did

Taylor Swift may have been at the awards — she did present one, after all — but she was noticeably not rocking her trademark enthusiastic dancing in the front row during performances. No worries, though. Woodley was there to pick up the slack.

Shailene Woodley Dancing at Teen Choice

During MAGIC!'s crowd-pleasing rendition of "Rude," cameras panned in on the actress totally grooving to the music — and owning her awkward dance moves. You've gotta love a girl who dances like nobody's watching.

4. She gave credit where credit was due

The Fault in Our Stars was a huge success earlier this summer, so it's no big surprise the poignant film took home several surfboards. But when Woodley took the stage with her co-stars to accept the award for "Choice Movie: Drama" for the film, she impressed us by making it a point to thank the person ultimately responsible for the movie: the man who created the story.

Does Selena Gomez's Teen Choice Awards speech hint at personal strife? >>

"This movie was so important to all of us, because the book is so important — written by a master, John Green," Woodley began her speech, later adding, "So thank you to John Green for creating a universe in which we can all relate to and celebrate."

5. We all needed the gentle reminder that we're blessed to be alive

It's been a few months since we've all seen the movie, so we're all probably guilty of forgetting the stirring message behind The Fault in Our Stars. Because while life goes on for most of us, Woodley reminds us that it doesn't go on for many.

"There are so many things that I feel like we could say right now but, for me, something that just occurred to me is that, you know, I'm wearing heels and have a face full of makeup on, and you guys are all dressed beautifully — and we're all so lucky to be alive, let alone breathing together in this wonderful room, celebrating all of these really successful artists," she pondered aloud, pointing out that not everyone is so lucky and many young people are terribly sick.

"There's no reason why we're here and they're there — nothing is fair," she lamented. "So the biggest thing I took away from this movie is that all we have is moments, and it's really our job to wake up each and every day and be so grateful for those moments."

Breaking Bad withdrawal? See what the cast is up to next! >>

"Lawyers: We're like health insurance," Saul (Bob Odenkirk) says in the teaser, sporting a much fuller head of hair than we're used to seeing in Breaking Bad. "You hope you never need it, but man, oh man, not having it? No, phew."

The 10-episode first season of Better Call Saul will follow wisecracking criminal lawyer, Saul Goodman, starting in 2002, before he meets Walter White (Bryan Cranston), as he navigates the crime world and helps people not-so-legally weasel out of legal trouble. Though not many specifics are known about the show, the theory is we'll see Saul's descent into the smarmy lawyer world play out.

Gilligan and fellow co-creator, Peter Gould, did share some other interesting details about the series, saying they favored "nonlinear storytelling."

McCarthy and Shepherd filmed their final live recording on Thursday, Aug. 8, so the pair has already officially exited the show; however, they also appeared in a pre-recorded appearance on Monday, Aug, 11.

Sherri Shepherd's surrogate gives birth, but she's a no-show >>

McCarthy was certainly overcome with emotion and she gave a beautiful, heartfelt goodbye to the show after being there for just one season.

"All I can say is, wow, I am grateful," she said before they played her best clips. "Second, I've continued to do what I've tried to do in any situation I have found myself in, which is to learn. I've learned from my mentor Barbara Walters and also from my dear friend, Sherri Shepherd."

Back to the drawing board: Meghan McCain not joining The View >>

"This is a job where there's a lot of craziness going on and Jenny always comes in with a smile and is one of the nicest people to work with in this business, so it's been so wonderful having you here for the first year," Shepherd also said about McCarthy.

Shepherd, on the other hand, has been a longtime favorite on the show and has enjoyed seven years there. Her goodbye message was aired on Monday, and it too was an emotional one.

"I'm so extremely and profoundly grateful for these best seven years of my life," Shepherd began.

She went on to explain that it has not always being an easy ride being on The View, and she has experienced her fair share of hardships during her time on the show.

"It was very painful," she said. "I cried in my dressing room for three years, going 'Why am I at this table? I don't know what I'm doing.'"

But when it came to her final moments, she was very hopeful.

"It is now time for my new view," she said. "I promise, I will see you again real soon."

We'll miss both of the ladies on the show, but hopefully the rumored new cohosts Nicolle Wallace and October Gonzales will do a great job at taking over. Whoopi Goldberg will be the only remaining cohost, while Rosie O'Donnell revealed that she will be returning.
