Fried avocado tacos

Last year I attended a conference in Austin, Texas. While out and about for lunch one day, I ventured into a new taco joint. As I was reading the menu, I noticed the fried avocado tacos, and I immediately knew I was going to be trying out those tacos.

Meatless fried avocado tacos

One year later, and I am still dreaming about that restaurant. The best part is that I can now have those tacos in the comfort of my own home, and they are so easy to whip up. Venture outside your comfort zone, and try these meatless tacos.

Fried avocado tacos recipe

Inspired by Torchy's Tacos restaurant

Yields 8

Ingredients:

  • 1 poblano pepper, seeded
  • 1/2 cup cilantro
  • 3/4 cup yogurt
  • 1/2 teaspoon lime juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon plus extra pinch salt
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 1/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
  • 2 large avocados
  • 1 (16 ounce) can refried beans
  • 1/4 cup pico de gallo
  • 8 flour tortillas
  • Cotija cheese for topping
  • Canola oil for frying

Directions:

  1. To make the cream sauce, place the poblano pepper, cilantro, yogurt, lime juice and salt into a food processor. Blend until the consistency is smooth. Set aside.
  2. Pour the canola oil into a Dutch oven or frying pan about 1 inch deep. Insert a thermometer, and heat to 350 degrees F.
  3. In a small pot, add the beans, and let them cook on low for 10 minutes.
  4. To make the batter, in a bowl, combine the flour, buttermilk, salt and chili powder. Mix with a wooden spoon.
  5. Cut the avocados in half, and peel off the skins. Slice the avocados into thin pieces lengthwise, and then drop them into the batter to coat. Add them to the hot oil, and let them cook for 2 minutes or until golden brown.
  6. Remove the fried avocados, and place them on a paper towel to dry.
  7. Heat up the tortillas, and slather refried beans onto one side. Top with 3 to 4 avocado slices, cream sauce, pico de gallo and Cotija cheese.

Hannigan recently told Hollywood Celebrity Scoop, "When my girls are sick, we cuddle a lot and wrap up in our favorite blanket and read books. There are lots of hugs. There is nothing like that smile a child makes after she has been sick — when you see it, you just know everything is going to be OK."

James Franco claims nude selfies are "what the people want"

There is no message or art involved in James Franco's strange and semi-nude photos on his social media accounts because, as he claims, it's just what the people want to see.

During his appearance on The Late Show With David Letterman on Thursday, May 8, Franco did his best to explain his weird Instagram posts lately, saying that's what the fans like to see.

James Franco denies sex with "delusional" Lindsay Lohan >>

"I didn't ask you to look at it," Franco told Letterman when the host showed the actor's famous semi-nude shot where he's got a hand over his privates. "It's what the people want. If you don't want to see it, don't follow me. Don't follow me on Instagram!"

Franco said that when he posts photos of himself "it gets a lot of attention," but he just does it for the fun of it and it's not something he puts "a ton of thought into." And attention he does get, as he currently has over 2 million followers on Instagram.

However, his latest nude Instagram antics are not the only thing that got attention for the 36-year-old actor. A few weeks back, Franco seemingly tried to pick up a 17-year-old girl through the popular media site and raised lots of eyebrows across the internet.

Seth Rogen & James Franco Vogue spoof: "It had to be done" >>

But, the 127 Hours star said that his attention-getting hijinks on the social site are not due to loneliness or anything of the sort. "I have people around me all the time," he said.

"It's just that as a performer, you get used to interactions with attention and interactions with audiences, so it feels like an audience that's both private and large at the same time."

Franco added that he has discovered how powerful the selfie can be and that "attention is power," as he noted in his New York Times essay. "If you are someone people are interested in, then the selfie provides something very powerful."

Michelle Duggar drops $3000 a month on groceries

Think your grocery bill is high? Be glad you don't have 19 kids and counting. Michelle Duggar revealed that her grocery bill is a jaw-dropping $3000 a month, thanks to her sons with bottomless pits for stomachs.

In her TLC blog, Duggar shared her shocking grocery bill and ideas on how to save cash in your own budget.

Duggar burger bill: 19 kids and counting gets costly >>

"Our goal for our monthly food budget is $3,000," she wrote. "It used to be more like $2,000, but we've noticed the costs of groceries have gone up. Also, our boys have grown a lot and they have hollow legs. Josiah, Jedidiah, Jeremiah, and Jason are all tall and lanky, and I jokingly say every two hours we have to fill up those hollow legs to make them grow a few more inches."

Duggar also shared her tips on how to save cash at the checkout and on other items: Shop discount grocers, club stores and co-ops, buy in bulk, buy used cars, clothes and furniture and always pay cash to avoid interest.

"For groceries, we mainly shop at discount grocery stores, warehouse clubs and co-ops. You can save thousands of dollars by doing just that.

Michelle Duggar reveals struggle with bulimia >>

"Another way we cut corners is to always buy used and save the difference. That means when it comes time to shop for clothes, we go to the thrift stores. And we've never bought a new car.

"There are so many other ways to save. As a matter of fact, Jill and Derick are going to be looking on Craigslist for furniture for their home. There's beautiful stuff available. People are constantly moving and they get rid of things they don't need.

"We've taught our kids when you buy something on credit, you ending up paying three times as much for it. Whereas, if you pay cash, the asking price is exactly the price you’ll pay."

The family also cuts their own hair, has all their bills itemized so they can catch extra fees, eschews luxuries like cable TV and has fun at home instead of spending money going out.

Even before the Duggars hit the big time with their TLC reality show, the family lived a debt-free lifestyle. After attending a religion-based Financial Freedom Seminar by Jim Sammons, patriarch Jim Bob Duggar began buying several commercial real estate properties and saved for about seven years to buy their first home in cash. Jim Bob also pulls in bank by renting out a cell phone tower to carriers.

Once Upon a Time sneak peek: Hook and Emma's risky quest

Once Upon a Time has taken fans on quite the whirlwind journey in Season 3, and it looks like this year's finale is going to be an even bigger adventure for the residents of Storybrooke.

Once Upon a Time sneak peek: Zelena and Rumple hook up? >>

In the last episode, "Kansas," Mary Margaret and David welcomed their new baby boy into the world. But the couple's happiness was short-lived as the Wicked Witch immediately arrived and snatched up the baby to use in her spell to change the past. Emma was unable to help, having lost her powers after Zelena drowned Hook and Emma chose his life over her magic.

But Henry believed that Regina could be good and wield the white magic needed to defeat Zelena, and he was right. Regina was able to stop the spell in time and even refused to kill her sister. Rumple had no such qualms, though, and killed Zelena as revenge for his son, a move that appeared to send the source of Zelena's power back to the location of the spell.

Jennifer Morrison admits life as an actress isn't always a fairy tale >>

What will happen next? Check out the official synopsis of the finale from ABC for some hints:

While Mary Margaret and David celebrate the naming of their son at a coronation in Granny's Diner, Emma and Hook are pulled into Zelena's time portal and find themselves in the Enchanted Forest of the past. But in their quest to discover a way back, they must be careful not to change anything or risk altering the lives of their friends and family as well as their very own existence.

The preview video shows Hook and Emma having what appear to be lots of adventures in the fairy-tale land of the past. It also seems to indicate that they might run into the people that they know, including Emma's parents, back then. Will they be able to get back to Storybrooke without altering their own lives? Will this be the adventure that finally makes Emma realize how much she loves Hook? We'll have to watch and see.

Ahi tuna cesear salad in a crispy bread bowl

This is not your everyday salad, friends. This unique salad is Caesar salad's much richer and more glamorous older cousin. The tuna makes it sophisticated and classy, while the bread bowl makes for very easy cleanup. Pretty food and fewer dishes — what's not to love?

Ahi tuna cesear salad in a crispy bread bowl

To start, make your dough. Begin this by mixing together the yeast, sugar, olive oil and water. Let it sit until foamy, and then mix in the flour until a soft dough comes together. You want it to be smooth like a baby's bottom as well as elastic.

Ahi tuna cesear salad in a crispy bread bowl

Now comes the fun part. Roll out the dough, liberally coat it with cheese, and roll it out again. This is such a fabulous arm workout. Just ask my biceps.

Ahi tuna cesear salad in a crispy bread bowl

After this, grease a metal or glass baking bowl with nonstick cooking spray, and bake the dough until it's golden brown and just beautiful.

Ahi tuna cesear salad in a crispy bread bowl

Once the dough is baked, make and mix the salad. But first you have to stare a little at your handiwork. I mean, it is a gorgeous sight.

Ahi tuna cesear salad in a crispy bread bowl

To start, salt and pepper the ahi tuna on both sides. Then broil it for only 6 minutes, as you need the inside to be pink. I've overcooked so many tuna steaks, and let me tell you, it's not fun (and it can set you back a ton of money).

Ahi tuna cesear salad in a crispy bread bowl

The rest of the salad creation is easy. All you do is toss together the lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, lots of Parmesan cheese and the tuna in your fancy new bread bowl.

Add the dressing, and eat. Just try to share, OK?

Ahi tuna Caesar salad in a crispy bread bowl recipe

Serves 4

Ingredients:

For the bread/crust bowl

  • 1 package active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon white sugar
  • 1 cup warm water (110 degrees F)
  • 2-1/2 cups bread flour
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • Dash salt
  • Cracked black pepper
  • 3-4 tablespoons shredded Parmesan
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning

For the salad

  • 4 cups shredded romaine lettuce
  • 1 (6 ounce) ahi tuna filet
  • 1/2 medium cucumber, thinly sliced
  • 1 large tomato, sliced
  • 5-6 radishes, sliced
  • 1/4 cup shredded Parmesan
  • Your favorite Caesar salad dressing

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Liberally grease a metal or glass bowl with nonstick cooking spray, and set it aside.
  2. In a large bowl, add the yeast, water, oil and sugar. Let sit until the mixture starts to foam, about 10 minutes. Stir in the flour 1/2 a cup at a time until the mixture forms a soft dough. Add the salt. Move the mixture to a hard, floured surface, and knead it until soft and elastic, about 5 minutes. Let the dough rest for about 10 minutes.
  3. After it has rested, roll out the dough to about a 1/4-inch thickness. Sprinkle with Parmesan, Italian herbs and cracked pepper. Fold up the sides, and roll the dough back out to another 1/4-inch thickness. Carefully press the dough into the greased bowl, and tuck the excess under the rim.
  4. Bake for about 23 to 25 minutes or until golden brown. Let it cool, and then carefully remove it from the bowl. Set it aside.
  5. Add salt and pepper to both sides of the tuna. Preheat your broiler to high. Place the tuna on a greased broiler pan. Broil for about 5 to 6 minutes or until the center is pink.
  6. To make the salad, toss together the lettuce, cucumbers and tomatoes. Add in the radishes, Parmesan cheese, salt and pepper. Toss to combine again. Top the salad with the ahi tuna, and drizzle with salad dressing. Serve immediately, or chill first.

Kourtney & Khloé Kardashian rejected by the Hamptons

The Hamptons residents are not up for having Kourtney and Khloé Kardashian for neighbors and refuse to rent them a home to film their new reality series Kourtney & Khloé Take the Hamptons.

New reports are claiming that residents of the luxurious Hamptons area in New York do not want the Kardashian sisters to take up residence so they can film their new show in their posh neighborhood. TMZ was told by real estate sources that Kourtney and Khloé have been rejected from renting a home as no one wants them around.

Khloé Kardashian: "Love" tweet about French Montana? >>

The show was announced back in March by E! News, but producers are saying they've hit a major snag because they can't find a property to settle into and begin shooting. Sources from the Hamptons said that homeowners in the area have united to reject the famous reality sisters because they don't want the trash they will attract. They also don't want all the negative exposure that having Kourtney and Khloé nearby will bring.

The most problematic issue residents have, however, is that the paparazzi will be rampant all through the neighborhood streets, and they like how quiet it normally is. But, the sisters are still hoping someone will bite the bullet and rent them a home soon.

Kim Kardashian's army of celebrity clones grows >>

There are some residents that are extremely worried the Kardashians will just bring "trash and ruin Southampton," which is the area where the classier residents live. They'd rather the sisters and their show entourage go toward East Hampton, where there is more new money, but apparently they don't want them there either.

Meanwhile, Kourtney and Khloé's sister, Kim Kardashian is having more luck and is more fortunate in her affairs at the moment. The middle Kardashian sister just sent out invitations to her and Kanye West's upcoming wedding. The lucky bride will hold her nuptials in Paris, France, on May 24.

CANCELED: Is your favorite show dead in the water?

How are you doing? Does cancellation season have you at wits' end yet? It seems every May is filled with drama over shows waiting to be picked up or cancelled. It's enough to give a TV fan an ulcer! With latest cuts like Community (WTF?!) and our beloved Enlisted, it's making it especially hard to log in to Twitter and watch the news roll in. Sadly, it's just part of life for the television-obsessed. If you're having time keeping track of what's gone for good and what you're likely to see again, we're here to help with a perpetually updated list of all the tragic (or well-deserved) cancellations.

Communit Photo credit: NBC

This week, we learned the tragic news of a cancellation of one of our longtime favorites: Community. So much for six seasons and a movie. Despite the rabid fan base, the cult hit just didn't pull in enough viewers to save it from the chopping block (again). We'll never find out how Troy's around-the-world trip went. We'll never even see if Abed can manage contentedness without his best friend or if he's destined to forever need to rely on the buddy system.

Everything you needed to know about Community Season 5 >>

We also feel personally responsible for Fox dropping Enlisted. We've spent months quietly enjoying the comedy following the antics of a Florida-based rear-D unit of the Army. It was pretty dang funny! We just weren't sure who the intended audience was supposed to be. If it was military personnel, they may have missed the mark. Hopefully they release it on DVD soon so we can still partake in the hotness of the Hill brothers.

Paula Patton on divorce: "There's a deep love there"

Paula Patton

Robin Thicke and Paula Patton seemed to be the perfect couple, and now Patton is opening up for the first time since announcing their divorce back in February — and the heartbreak she has gone through since then.

5 Reasons the Thicke/Patton split was inevitable >>

"We've known each other since we were teenagers," she told Vanity Fair. "All I can tell you is there's a deep love there — always was, and always will be."

Patton and Thicke met in the '90s when she was 15 and he was only 14. They had been together ever since, and were married in their 20s. The couple had grown accustomed to being together and didn't think they'd ever be with anyone else.

"He wasn't my first kiss," she said, "But he was my first lots of other things."

Patton has her own successful career as an actress, but it took her years to open up enough to want to appear in front of the camera.

"I felt uncomfortable in my own skin, so I liked the other side of the camera," she said, according to People. "It took until I was 27 to say, 'You only have one life to live, so you might as well go and see if you can act.'"

Robin Thicke continues public campaign to win Paula back >>

The actress is currently filming Warcraft, a role she first thought she might be a stretch, but she loved the script. She said, "I've never been big into video games. But the Warcraft script reads more like a complex, epic novel."

Thicke and Patton both seem to be dealing well with the breakup. Earlier this year, he said they were "both doing well. We're both very happy right now — much happier."

RENEWED: Did your beloved TV show earn another season?

Agents of SHIELD and other renewed TV shows

It's that time of year again, folks — the time that TV viewers have come to both dread and look forward to all year long. This is when fans find out if their favorite shows have made the cut and earned another season. For those lucky enough to love TV shows that have been getting huge ratings, the news may not be a surprise. But for those fans whose shows have lived with less-than-stellar ratings, news of a renewal can be cause for celebration. Did your favorite new show get a second season? Did the show you've loved for years get another round? Read on to find out.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. review: Some weaknesses are strengths >>

On the list of new shows that earned a second season is Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. This series ran the gamut in its first season, starting out with hype worthy of a blockbuster but quickly fizzling out as fans became disenchanted with the show and demanded more. Well, more is what ABC delivered, and the second half of the season saw renewed interest from fans that undoubtedly led to the show's renewal.

NBC's The Blacklist came out of the gate to massive fan love and big ratings, earning the show an early renewal. Another new series, Chicago P.D., took a little longer to find the ratings it needed before getting its second season.

The CW cancels Star-Crossed, The Tomorrow People, The Carrie Diaries >>

As for CBS, a lot of new shows stumbled in their first seasons, and nearly all floundered under low ratings and so-so viewer acceptance. Not many of CBS's new shows have earned a second season, which doesn't bode well for any of them.

Fox and The CW had better luck with their new shows, with Sleepy Hollow, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The 100, Reign and The Originals all earning second seasons.

Hollywood Moms get real: Sex life after baby

Who would have known that the crazy party girl from Jersey Shore would make such a normal, endearing mama? Snooki, now expecting baby No. 2 with her fiance Jionni LaValle, surprised the world when she gave birth to her precious little meatball Lorenzo and became a totally chill mom. And, like most typical moms, she admits sex isn't quite the same as it was before. "We still try to have sex a lot, and I think we do, but it is definitely different after a baby," she elaborated. "It kind of hurts a little bit. You know, 'cause you pushed something out of there. It kind of makes it difficult, but we still try to have sex — because you still have to have a relationship."

When it comes to motherhood, Angelina Jolie has her hands full with six beautiful children. And, although we imagine she must be at least moderately exhausted most of the time (if not, we need to know her secret), the stunning actress still makes time to get intimate with her soon-to-be husband, Brad Pitt. As a matter of fact, the happy couple keeps the romance going in between babies and even when Jolie is pregnant. "[Pregnancy is] great for the sex life," she told Entertainment Weekly while carrying twins Vivienne and Knox. "It just makes you a lot more creative, so you have fun."

Kendra Wilkinson has never been shy about sex, and we find her candor on the subject in her book Being Kendra completely refreshing. While it may seem like celebrities get back to normal at hyper-speed after having babies, Wilkinson reveals that at least one thing didn't immediately rebound following the birth of her son, Hank IV, with NFL hubby Hank Baskett. "As parents, now we have to try to fit in sex whenever we can," she wrote. "In a nutshell, that's my new sex life as a mom, but I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world." The E! starlet, who will soon welcome a daughter, embraces quality over quantity these days, revealing, "I try to keep my marriage exciting and make sure Hank is happy."

Christina Aguilera, whose son Max is 6, asserts that sex has remained an important part of her life from the time he was born until the present (and beyond). "I'm an artist and expressing myself in a sexual way, no matter how that changes throughout the years, is something that has always come naturally to me," the songbird revealed last year, noting, "I feel sexier than ever because you know what you want." Hopefully Aguilera can maintain her sexual optimism through midnight feedings and coasting on two hours of sleep — she's expecting baby No. 2.

Little Luca is 2 years old now but, prior to announcing their separation in January, Hilary Duff and Mike Comrie were still trying to find that balance between new parenthood and their old sex life. "It's definitely different," Duff told Access Hollywood. "I'm so exhausted at the end of each day, so I'm like, 'Can this not happen at night when I'm exhausted?'" she laughed. "You find different times to do it." And while the couple is currently estranged, they remain committed to parenting Luca as a team — they've vacationed as a family and were even spotted rocking at Coachella sans Luca — which we think bodes well for their marriage and their sex life.

When Jessica Simpson announced she was pregnant with baby No. 2 mere months after giving birth to baby Maxwell, we can't say we were all that surprised. Simpson likes to talk, and she likes sex and she definitely likes to talk about sex. When cute little Maxwell was only 3 weeks old, the star divulged to People that she just couldn't keep her hands off of her fiancé, Eric Johnson. "I've kind of broken one rule. I think I have the sexiest man in the world," she gushed. "So that's the rule I break." Translation: The couple was going against doctor's orders by getting frisky. Wonder if 6-month-old baby brother Ace will be getting a sibling soon?

Dr. Dre fans may still be patiently awaiting the release of his long-delayed album Detox, but the hip-hop mogul seems to have a lot of other things on his mind — like becoming rap's very first billionaire.

News of Dre's financial milestone comes from a video shot by singer and actor Tyrese Gibson, which confirms that Apple is buying the rap mogul's Beats Electronics. In the clip, which was posted on Gibson's Facebook page and later removed, Tyrese is seen wearing a pair of Beats headphones with the West Coast rapper as they celebrate the monumental news.

"The Forbes list just changed. It came out, like, two weeks ago. They need to update the Forbes list. S*** just changed," Tyrese says in the selfie video. Dre re-affirms, "The first billionaire of hip-hop right here, from the motherf***ing West Coast."

Eminem, Dr. Dre and Rihanna's Grammys performance rocks >>

Earlier this week, the Financial Times reported that Apple was closing in on a $3.2 billion purchase of Dre's electronics line and streaming music service. In addition to Apple's reported acquisition, it is rumored that Beats CEO and music industry great Jimmy Iovine is in talks to join the Apple team as a "special advisor" to CEO Tim Cook.

According to the Los Angeles Times, if Apple confirms the buy of Beats Electronics, it would be the company's largest acquisition ever. Its most expensive purchase occurred in 1997, when Apple purchased Steve Jobs' NeXT Computer Systems for $400 million.

Back in February, Dr. Dre made headlines when 50 Cent ended his professional relationship with Dre and Eminem. 50 spoke about the decision, stressing that his relationship with the hip-hop duo was much more important than being in an uncomfortable situation with a label.

"It's also because of the leverage of having the strong relationships with Eminem and Dr. Dre. They don't want me to be uncomfortable," he said. "They value our friendship to the point that they would never want to jeopardize it over that little bit of money."

REVIEW: Ed Sheeran's The Fault in Our Stars track

Don't even ask us if we're okay, because of course the answer is no. How can anyone be okay after listening to Ed Sheeran's track "All of the Stars" for The Fault in Our Stars soundtrack? Making it worse: the video full of "inspirational" wall art and that adorable ginger's sad eyes at the end. We need a moment.

TRAILER: Love conquers all in TFIOS >>

First, the oh-so-perfect song. Melodically speaking, it's not exactly Sheeran's smoothest moment. It's easy to move past that, though. Any songs for this movie are going to be far more focused on lyrics than on offering up a reliable beat. And these lyrics? They fit so perfectly with the story and sentiment in John Green's book The Fault in Our Stars. We're convinced that Sheeran had to have read the book. If he didn't, we don't want to know. One of the stand-out sections:

You're on the other side
As the skyline splits in two
I'm miles away from seeing you
I can see the stars
From America
I wonder, do you see them, too?

Unf. It hurts, right? I don't want to spoil anything, so if you haven't read the book, just skip the rest of this paragraph. But this song must come as the credits roll. It makes perfect sense that these are Hazel Grace's thoughts or prayers as she lays in the grass without Gus. And once you realize that, any twinge of awkwardness to the song becomes sheer unfathomable heartbreak.

Nailed it: Ed Sheeran raps his way through "Sing" >>

The song breaks our hearts, but the video brings an entirely new set of feelings. The art on the wall looks like a mix of two things: fan art for John Green from fans of his book and art/cards you'd find on the walls of rooms in the oncology section of the hospital. That's rough. Of course. But, if you've loved someone or known someone who has spent a lot of time in that unit (or just read the book), you know that sometimes those "inspirational" thoughts can be a little hard to swallow. All those ones about following your dreams? How many kids with cancer stand a chance of ever doing that? For Hazel Grace and Gus, they chased a couple of short-term dreams, but how far did they get to go beyond that?

...Now I'm in a terrible mood. Thanks a lot, Ed Sheeran.

Sherri Shepherd divorce and baby news

Things are about to get complicated in Sherri Shepherd's personal life. The cohost of The View, whose divorce news broke Friday morning, looks to be also gearing up for a custody battle over her and Lamar Sally's unborn baby.

Complicating things further is that, according to TMZ, it isn't the 47-year-old daytime star who's pregnant. The couple hired a surrogate to carry their first child together.

On the heels of word that Sally has filed to end his nearly three-year marriage with Shepherd, the gossip site reports that the surrogate's due date is estimated to be July 28.

According to the documents the TV writer filed, which request a separation because he has not resided in California long enough to fulfill the six-month minimum requirement to apply for divorce, he's also requested full legal and physical custody of the unborn child.

Additionally, he wants his future ex-wife to only have visitation rights, is requesting spousal support and alleges their prenuptial agreement is invalid due to fraud.

Shepherd has been open about "looking for a uterus" in the past. She told Rachael Ray in 2012, "I'm trying to have another baby, you know, I'm still trying... still looking."

The Dancing With the Stars veteran was pregnant with boy/girl twins in 2005, during her first marriage, but miscarried her daughter. Her son Jeffrey, now 9, walked her down the aisle to marry Sally in 2011.

Leading up to that big event, Shepherd told People she was on a mission to slim down for her wedding gown but also in hopes of getting pregnant herself. She shared, "I have to lose as much weight as possible for me to be healthy to carry [a baby]."

Do you think Lamar Sally should get everything he's asking for from Sherri Shepherd?

Hollywood and Washington, D.C., are about to meet again. It's not the White House Correspondents' Dinner; it's the engagement of actress Cheryl Hines and Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Us Weekly confirmed the news on Friday through sources. Hines' rep refused to comment to the entertainment magazine about her client's personal life.

Stacy Keibler is happy for newly engaged George Clooney >>

The couple began dating in 2012. This will be the former Curb Your Enthusiasm star's second marriage and the environmental lawyer's third marriage. Hines divorced Paul Young in 2010 after close to eight years of marriage. They had one daughter, Catherine Rose.

Kennedy's first marriage, to Emily Ruth Black, produced two children, son Robert Francis and daughter Kathleen Alexandra. The 60-year-old's second marriage, to Mary Kathleen Richardson, also ended in divorce, though Richardson committed suicide four days after Kennedy filed. They had four children together: sons Conor Richard, William Finbar and Aiden Caohman and daughter Kyra LeMoyne.

The Suburgatory actress explained to Us Weekly in March why their relationship worked so well. "We share the same values. Family first. We like to have a good time and work hard," she said.

The engaged couple also enjoy supporting each other's philanthropic causes. The 48-year-old performer shared, "He's so dedicated to the environment and clean water, so we take turns. He'll come to my United Cerebral Palsy event and walk the red carpet with me. It's a good match-up."

Congratulations, Cheryl and Robert!

Chris Brown stuck in the slammer for 131 more days, maybe

Chris Brown finally decided to come clean. The singer appeared before Los Angeles Superior Court Judge James Brandlin once again today and admitted that by getting arrested last year in Washington, D.C., he had violated his probation terms, according to CNN.

Chris Brown suffering from PTSD and bipolar disorder >>

Brown's lawyer, Mark Geragos, admitted that copping to the wrongdoings is a move in effort to get the singer out of jail sooner. The probation stems from Brown's 2009 charge of assaulting then-girlfriend Rihanna.

Judge Brandlin sentenced Brown to 365 days in jail for the D.C. misdemeanor assault charges but credited him with 234 days because of rehab and of jail time already served. The "Forever" singer has been in custody for the past two months.

Brown, 25, remains incarcerated and technically has 131 more days left on lockdown, but Geragos believes he will be released much sooner. "I would expect that Chris should be out of jail before the weekend's up or before Monday," the lawyer said. "If he isn't out by Monday, then I would expect he's getting special treatment. He's got over 230 days credit on a 365 (days sentence), and generally the sheriff is releasing on a lot less than that."

The troubled star will still have to do community service three days a week, until he reaches 700 hours, but Geragos also said that Brown has actually "enjoyed" the service because it's "at a facility that has allowed him to expand his horizons." The attorney's statement is pretty interesting, considering Brown was accused of falsifying the amount of hours he had performed on community service documents last year.

The news that Brown may soon be released undoubtedly comes just in the nick of time for the singer, who was reportedly "broken" when his trial date was delayed in late April after his bodyguard was found guilty on charges involving the D.C. assault.

Upon release, Brown will remain on probation until January 2015 and will be expected to attend anger management classes and submit to random drug tests, the judge said.

Still, Brown and his lawyer seem optimistic. "We're gratified that he was not sentenced to state prison, gratified he's still on probation," said Geragos. "I think that Chris has learned quite a bit through this experience and I'm anxious to see how he does, as I think everybody else is."

What do you think? Has Brown finally learned his lesson, or will he be back up to no good when he reintegrates into society?

Tori Spelling: Putting her troubled marriage before her health

With all that Tori Spelling is going through after husband Dean McDermott's serial cheating, she might want to take a break. According to the Daily Mail, the petite actress' health is in serious danger.

While she has lost a lot of weight over the past few months under the stress of taking care of four kids while McDermott was in rehab, Spelling has something even bigger going on. The U.K. publication reported that she is suffering from a cervical spine condition that needs immediate surgery.

VIDEO: Was Tori Spelling's hospital stay faked for reality show? >>

A source told the Daily Mail, "Tori has two disintegrated discs in her neck that have been causing her extreme pain."

She has been warned by her doctors to have the operation as soon as possible; otherwise, she risks doing permanent damage to her body. However, there are so many family issues to deal with right now.

"Tori feels a lot of pressure to bring money in right now," said the insider. "She and Dean have been struggling, and she knows how important it is for her to keep doing her True Tori reality series and the new Mystery Girls sitcom she and her old friend Jennie Garth are doing for ABC's Family Channel. Tori believes ratings for her reality series would suffer if the storyline is forced to center around her hospitalization and recovery, and she knows she has to keep working if the bills are going to get paid."

The 40-year-old mother of four was recently hospitalized for migraines, but the source shared that it was really because of the disintegrated discs.

Poor Tori Spelling! Marriage woes & now hospitalization >>

The source continued, "The pain is so bad, she has to take pain medication. But the longer she takes it, the more meds she has to consume in order to ease the pain. It’s a vicious circle."

The other worry for the reality star is leaving her husband alone while they are in the middle of reconciling. McDermott wants his wife to put her health first, but she isn't budging.

"Tori and Dean have been working hard on trying to put their marriage back on track after he admitted to cheating," summed up the source. "She is still very much in love with her husband and is willing to do anything she can to put the pieces back together. She is afraid that if she spends a week in the hospital, leaving him home alone with the four kids, he won't be able to handle it."

Let's hope this family gets back on track soon.

Charlie's Sheen's fiancée changes her name and occupation

Charlie Sheen's fiancée Brett Rossi is undergoing a few changes. Her name is now Scottine Sheen.

The former porn star has gone back to her birth name and then taken the Anger Management star's last name in anticipation of their wedding. The 24-year-old has even changed her social media accounts to reflect her new persona.

Was John Mayer conned by Charlie Sheen's best pal? >>

She told Us Weekly, "I'm trying to leave my porn past behind me and start living as me. [Sheen] has been complaining about it and I said, 'they won't EVER stop calling me Brett Rossi unless I start getting out and doing things as me. You have to let me do things as Scottine (pronounced Scott-teen).'"

The couple are planning on getting married soon, which means a relatively short engagement for the two of them. Charlie asked for her hand in marriage on Feb. 15 in Hawaii. This will be his fourth marriage and Scottine's second marriage.

She talked about why the change was so important to her: "Brett Rossi is a past of mine that I'm ready to move past. I originally started modeling under my real name, Scottine, when I was 14 years old. I changed it to Brett Rossi only four years ago. [The name] sort of blew up bigger than I expected and [it] just stuck. However, I am not in the adult industry anymore and keeping that name keeps myself, as well as the world, from moving past my past. Everyone has a past and a story, but my past does not define who I am as a person. Now, I'm preparing to be a wife, a step-mommy and starting a fresh chapter in my life… Brett Rossi left the building a year ago when I retired."

While the couple isn't ready to start a family just yet, they recently adopted a flamingo at the Santa Barbara Zoo.

Scottine shared, "I'm a huge animal activist and I'm doing things with the World Wildlife Foundation. We got a plaque and it's the first thing that says 'Charlie and Scottine Sheen' publicly."

Let's hope this marriage goes better than the other three.

Courtney Love turned down Russell Brand because he's stinky

Russell Brand may consider himself a regular Casanova, but he isn't going to be having a shag with Courtney Love anytime soon. At least that's what she says, according to Us Weekly.

Kurt Cobain: Read his scornful note mocking Courtney Love >>

In a recent guest appearance on the Alan Carr: Chatty Man show, the unpredictable rocker claimed that Brand made a pass at her, but she turned the comedian down cold because his odor was a bit too manly for her taste. The allegations are shocking, considering Brand's ex-wife, Katy Perry, was so distraught after their break-up that the only thing that could comfort the pop star was Cheetos and booze.

"My favorite Russell Brand line was when we first were friends and he tried to hit on me but nothing ever happened," said Love. "He goes, 'I've had a lot of grand conversations, darling, but none of them have ever ended in orgasm. Can we go in your room?'"

Love said that after being propositioned by Brand, she said, "You're too musky for me, man." Ouch. She also admitted that the alleged offensive odor she experienced was during exercise, which doesn't seem totally fair. "He's a little musky. We did yoga together, and the musk was there," Love said on the British talk show.

You can say a lot of things about Love, but the woman doesn't beat around the bush. She's also bold in her statements, which most of the time veer toward the outlandish. Love has drawn conclusions on famous unsolved mysteries such as the whereabouts of Malayasian Airlines flight 370.

Still, the allegation of Brand's stench doesn't bode well for the Get Him to the Greek actor, who previously told Jay Leno he is training to be a world-class Don Juan. "Mostly I've been devoting myself to single life so I can finally win that shagging Olympic medal," he said. "I'm putting in the training."

We're willing to bet that Love didn't smell like flowers during her Hole days, either. People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones, Courtney!
