Serena Williams Is Pursuing a New Career That Has Nothing to Do With Tennis

Aces aren’t all Serena Williams serves. For years, the tennis star has also been serving up some serious style too, both on and off the court. Now, after working with various designers for different collaborations over the years, Williams is finally ready to take the plunge and launch her very own line — exciting!

More: Serena Williams Will Return to Tennis 5 Months After Giving Birth

Fans of the legendary athlete know fashion isn’t a measly side hustle for Williams. In addition to having once enrolled at the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale for fashion design, she has also joined forces with the likes of Nike and HSN to create capsule collections. Not to mention, the star routinely designs her on-court ensembles. It was only a matter of time, really, until she stepped out on her own.

So, what will Williams be calling her very first, very own fashion line that will undoubtedly announce her fashion sensibilities to the world?

“I needed to call it Serena,” Williams told Glamour, adding, “I’ve designed for Nike, I’ve designed for Puma, I did that stint with HSN for a few years and we had runway shows, but I was never a full creative director. So here I am, complete creative director, down to the grommets that we use on the jeans, the tags, our packaging… You can see how it plays out different than anything else I’ve done.”

More: Why Ivanka Trump Is Rushing to Serena Williams' Defense

The 12-piece collection will be sold exclusively on its own e-commerce website, with prices in the first group of designs ranging from $35 to $250. This includes everything from athleisure-wear (naturally, right?) to casual (think jeans) and business-ready pieces like blazers and dresses.

“I’m Serena Williams, and I don’t want to pay $1,000 or $3,000 for an outfit — I can, and I’m not going to. There are so few people who have access to buy whatever they want, however they want. I want them be able to buy these clothes,” Williams explained to Glamour.

The line also includes a “motivational” section, pointing toward another priority of the collection: to empower women.

“The customer is a girl or a woman who believes in herself, or wants to believe in herself; maybe she’s feeling unconfident that day,” Williams told WWD. “And someone that is unapologetically themselves, and that maybe they stand out; maybe they stand out because they are strong or they’re beautiful or they want to not be the norm. Our woman is someone who looks at fashion as a compass to show who they are, to show what they are.”

Ready to buy? Us too. But first, envision your own "s" word — a concept the line is centered on. “Everyone can have an ‘s’ word. Mine is ‘sure.’ My mom’s is ‘steadfast.’ A really good friend of mine who has been through a lot, her ‘s’ is ‘survivor,’” Williams elaborated, adding of her word, “I need to be more sure of myself and more confident in myself. And that’s coming from me. And I feel a lot of people can relate to that.”

These Popular Birth Control Pills Have Been Recalled Over a Packaging Error

If you're one of the millions of people on birth control, you're going to want to check your package of it right now. The pharmaceutical company Allergan has issued a nationwide recall of nearly 170,000 packs of the birth control pill Taytulla because of a serious packaging mistake. Specifically, the four maroon placebo pills are at the beginning of the pack instead of the end, and taking the pills in this order could result in unintended pregnancy.

"The reversing of the order may not be apparent to either new users or previous users of the product, increasing the likelihood of taking the capsules out of order," a statement from Allergan read.

The recalled pills came as physicians' sample packs, so if you've received Taytulla in this form, be extra careful. The birth control pills affected by the recall are from lot No. 5620706 with an expiration date of May 2019 and a dosage of 1 milligrams/20 micrograms according to the statement. The pills have been in circulation since August 2017.

And in case visuals help, here are images of correctly packaged Taytulla versus the incorrectly packaged product:

Allergan is notifying customers about the recall by letter and is arranging for return of all recalled packs — but given the risk of unplanned pregnancy, time is of the essence, and it's probably best to check yourself instead of waiting for a letter. If you find that you do have the recalled product with the associated lot number, you should notify your physician as soon as possible.

Dunkin' Donuts Introduces 3 New Coffee Flavors That Taste Like Ice Cream

If I said the word "summer" and asked you to tell me the first thing that came to your mind, I'd be willing to bet you would say "beach" or "ice cream." If I'm right, and ice cream is the first thing that pops into your head, boy, do I have good news for you.

More: The Weirdest Ice Cream Flavors to Try This Summer

This summer, Dunkin' Donuts is rolling out three ice cream-flavored iced coffees. You may remember that last year, Dunkin' Donuts asked fans to vote for their Baskin-Robbins ice cream-inspired iced coffees and in return, Dunkin' would add them to its menu the following summer. Well, fans voted, and Dunkin' Donuts is sticking to their promise. Beating out Jamoca-almond fudge and rocky road, the three flavors that will be added to the menu this summer are pistachio, butter pecan and cookie dough.

Here's how Dunkin' Donuts described the flavors in a press release:

  • Butter pecan: "The indulgent butter roasted pecan and sweet cream flavors have met their match in Dunkin’ Donuts iced coffee."
  • Cookie dough: "This flavor will transport taste buds to the moments just before cookies are popped into the oven with the sweet taste of cookie dough."
  • Pistachio: "Pistachio ice cream lovers will go nuts for the sweet pistachio taste of this iced coffee flavor."

I personally would have rather seen rocky road replace butter pecan, but I'm pretty excited for the cookie dough flavor.

Their press release also contained some good news for all the fans who voted for this year's flavor winners. According to their press release, the coffee chain "has selected a dozen fans whose post or comment the brand particularly enjoyed each of whom will receive a summer of free coffee." Additionally, "one day this summer a Dunkin’ Donuts in their town will offer free medium ice cream flavored iced coffees to the first 500 guests."

Well, now I'm really wishing I had voted last year. I guess there's still hope that someone in my city voted.

All three sweet flavors are available now and can be added to any hot and iced coffees, lattes, macchiatos frozen coffees and frozen chocolates.

Diane Kruger & Norman Reedus Are Reportedly Expecting Their First Child

It looks like congratulations are in order for Diane Kruger and her boyfriend, Norman Reedus. After much speculation (Kruger was totally hiding a baby bump with those oversize gowns at Cannes, right?), multiple sources have exclusively confirmed to Us Weekly that the couple is expecting their first child together.

Kruger's Cannes attire wasn't the only clue that she's pregnant — according to Page Six, she skipped the famous Cannes rosé in favor of water.

Last week, Kruger herself added to the speculation through an Instagram post. The photo itself showed a black and white portrait of Kruger, but it was the caption that caught our attention: a footprint emoji.

Kruger and Reedus met on the set of the 2015 film Sky and they made their first official public appearance together at the Golden Globes in January. But reports of their romance have been swirling ever since they were seen sharing a kiss in New York City in March 2017. Over the past year, the pair has traveled to Costa Rica together and displayed some PDA at the U.S. Open last September.

"I didn’t know [Reedus] before [Sky]," Kruger told People in 2016. “We share a lot of intimate scenes. I was really nervous about meeting him and not being able to have a drink with him, or talk with him." Luckily, it appears those nerves wore off fairly quickly.

Kruger previously dated actor Joshua Jackson for 10 years, while Reedus was in a relationship with model Helena Christensen until 2003. Reedus and Christensen share an 18-year-old son, Mingus Lucien Reedus.

Both Kruger and Reedus started their careers as models before switching over to film. Reedus' son, Mingus, is already following in his dad's footsteps — he's a signed model who has worked with Calvin Klein. We'll have to wait and see if the newest addition to the Kruger-Reedus family chooses to enter the biz as well — but if Mingus is any indication, this little babe is bound to have a Hollywood-ready name.

We Talked to Experts to Find Out What Sex Dreams Really Mean

$

We've all had sex dreams about those we are attracted to as well as those we aren't interested in at all. Maybe you've even had a dream lover you can't stand in real life. Regardless, a sex dream always leaves us wondering why we had it and what the meaning behind it is

Many of us fantasize about having sex or being intimate during our waking hours, but what does it mean when someone enters our dreams and we have our way with each other? We asked some experts, who set the record straight about the real reason you are dreaming about sexual encounters with your ex, a stranger or a coworker.

1. It's not necessarily about sex

It's not necessary about wanting to have sex with the person in your dreams, but more about "a psychological union you need," Lauri Quinn Loewenberg, a professional dream analyst and author of Dream On It: Unlock Your Dreams, Change Your Life, tells SheKnows. Having a sexy dream about someone doesn't mean you’re attracted them as much as it means they have a quality "you need to connect with in order to better yourself," Loewenberg explains.

More: Here's Why (& How) I Masturbate Every Day

Maybe you've had a deep conversation with them or watched them assert themselves in a way you wish you could. "The dreaming mind uses the act of sex — which is two separate individuals joining together as one — to represent the connection or merger you are experiencing in waking life," Loewenberg says.

Similarly, Dr. Nancy B. Irwin, a psychologist, speaker and author, says these dreams don't have a thing to do with sex but are about power and control and our need to be released from it or get power and control back into our lives.

2. They play an important role in your life's journey

These dreams can leave you feeling unsettled, but if you recognize they happened in order to better your life's journey and tap into the real reason you had one, you can benefit from sex dreams in a big way.

"In a nutshell, sex dreams are showing you what you lack,” Loewenberg says.

3. These dreams are about you

According to Irwin, dreams are a reflection of the dreamer’s current state of personal, professional, health or interpersonal life — which is an important reason not to brush them off, as they’re an opportunity for us to connect with ourselves.

Types of sex dreams

Here are some typical sex dreams and what they mean according to Loewenberg.

Sex with an ex

Even if it's been a while since you've been with an ex, you may be dreaming about them for a few reasons. Firstly, Loewenberg says that your dream may be telling you it's time to spice up your sex life.

Secondly, if you are dreaming about an ex-spouse that you see often, Loewenberg says it’s "your inner mind alerting you to an issue with that person." She goes on to say that it's important to look at what happened between the two of you a few days prior to your dream.

Lastly, she explains that the dream is a clear indication you are stuck and have not fully healed from the relationship. You will continue to keep dreaming of this person until you let go of the past and allow yourself to move on.

More: Why You Should Consider Morning Sex

Sex with a coworker or boss

According to Loewenberg, your boss represents power, decision-making and assertiveness. If you have a sex dream about them, it simply means you need to merge those qualities into your own life. A sex dream involving a coworker also means that person possess something you wish for yourself, be it that they are the boss's favorite or you feel they are more advanced in their career than you are, she adds.

Sex with a friend

While it doesn't hurt to ask yourself if there is an attraction there after a sexy dream, if you have a sex dream about a friend, it usually means you have recently connected on a deeper level, Loewenberg notes.

Sex with a stranger

The most common of all sex dreams, having a dream about a stranger or faceless partner doesn't mean the mystery person is really our soul mate, according to Loewenberg. What it is doing is showing us "different parts of our personality in the form of a person so we have a deeper understanding of ourselves and what makes us tick," she says.

So the next time you wake up in a sweaty heap after a sex dream, even if it's with someone you aren't attracted to, take a moment to think about a quality that person might possess that you would like to work on for yourself. Your subconscious may be trying to tell you something.

How Much Mariah Carey Really Got for Her Engagement Ring From Ex James Packer

Everyone deals with breakups differently. Some people drown their sorrows in a pint of ice cream. Others call on their best friends for moral support. But if you’re Mariah Carey, you sell the 35-carat diamond engagement ring your ex-fiancé gave you and soothe whatever remaining woes you have with the cash windfall. How much cash, you ask? Oh, you know, just $2.1 million.

More: Mariah Carey Received a New Award, but Not for Her Singing

It’s been two years since Carey’s ex, James Packer, gave her the ring, and a source close to the couple reportedly told Us Weekly that the songstress was finally ready to put the past behind her. According to the source, “[T]he emotion behind [the ring] was something [Carey] didn’t want to hold onto.”

Page Six was the first to report that Carey had decided to bid adieu to the sizeable sparkler, which was speculated to be worth around $10 million. Per the outlet, Carey’s publicist confirmed the sale, saying, “Mariah has been very vocal recently about her choice to move forward in her life surrounded by positivity. That requires leaving emotional and material baggage behind, including an old engagement ring from an ex-boyfriend.”

More: Mariah Carey Is Ready to Conquer Las Vegas — Again

And, well, who can blame her? If the prevailing rumors are true, Carey and her billionaire media mogul betrothed were on vacation in Greece in 2016 when he broke up with her. Or, rather, she read in Woman’s Day Australia that he had already broken up with her — leaving her understandably blindsided. That definitely qualifies as bad relationship baggage.

As for the material baggage, the ring is reportedly back on the market, being resold by the Los Angeles-area jeweler that bought it from Carey. Although a confidentiality agreement is in place, it’ll be hard to keep a rock that big under wraps for long.

Case in point: It’s already proven impossible not to notice Carey’s brand-new finger bling. Leaving the popular Beverly Hills eatery Mr Chow on Tuesday night, Carey could be seen rocking the most Mimi-esque replacement rings possible: two oversize butterfly statement sparklers.

The new jewelry wasn’t the only accessory putting a smile on Carey’s face, though. She had a little arm candy to help with that. Her on-again, off-again lover-slash-dancer-slash-choreographer Bryan Tanaka was by her side leaving Mr Chow’s. So, it looks as though Carey really is doing a bit of emotional feng shui — out with the old and negative and in with the new and positive.

What's the Best Place to Be a Kid? Well, It's Not the US

The lives of over 1.2 billion children across the globe are threatened by widespread poverty, conflict or discrimination against girls. This sobering information was released in a report by Save the Children in advance of International Children's Day, and it also includes a ranking of the countries where childhood is most and least threatened. Due to America's huge wealth and resources, it should rank high on the list, right? Well, it doesn't. In fact, the U.S. ranking is far lower than we expected.

Despite the fact that, according to a ranking released by Forbes last November, America is the 12th-richest country in the world, it ranks 36th out of 175 on Save the Children's list of Best and Worst Places to Be a Kid — smack dab in the middle of Belarus and Russia. Oof.

More: Here's What Child Poverty Looks Like in 6 Nations

Just to give you an idea, the United Kingdom and Canada rank 22nd and 24th, respectively, which means the United States lags significantly behind other developed nations. Singapore took the top spot, followed (unsurprisingly) by Norway, Sweden and Finland. Because does anyone ever beat the Nordics in terms of human rights and well-being?

Save the Children's state-by-state analysis found that children living in rural areas are more affected by poverty than their peers in urban areas. And in 90 percent of U.S. states, rural poverty rates are higher than urban rates. In Arizona, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi and South Carolina, for example, a staggering 1 in 3 children in rural areas live in poverty.

More: 11 Facts That Prove Childhood Hunger Is a National Health Crisis

“Children in rural America are more likely to die in infancy, miss out on meals, become pregnant as teenagers and not attend college,” Mark Shriver, Save the Children’s senior vice president for U.S. programs and advocacy, said in a press release. “Rural child poverty rates have been persistently high for at least three generations in the U.S."

More: Watch Kids Respond to Child Hunger in the Most Amazing Way

In a call to action, Save the Children is asking all governments to prioritize the welfare of children by ensuring they have access to education and aren't subject to malnutrition, forced marriage or child labor.

“Without urgent action, we’ll never meet the promises made three years ago by every country at the United Nations to ensure every child is in school, protected, healthy and alive by 2030 — governments can and must do more to give every child the best possible start in life,” Carolyn Miles, president & CEO of Save the Children, stated in the press release.

The bottom line is that the United States has the resources to help our children whose lives are affected by poverty; it's just not doing it. It's high time for the government to take the urgent action requested by Miles. In fact, it's long overdue.

Does Ambien Have Some Intense Side Effects? Yes, but They Don’t Include Racism

$

Call it the Ambien alibi: After tweeting some extremely racist and offensive remarks about Valerie Jarrett, a former Obama White House aide, earlier this week, Roseanne Barr is now blaming her inexcusable comments on the common sleep aid Ambien.

The now-deleted tweet read: “guys I did something unforgiveable [sic] so do not defend me. It was 2 in the morning and I was ambien-tweeting-it was memorial day too-i went 2 far & do not want it defended-it was egregious Indefensible,” she wrote. “I made a mistake I wish I hadn’t but… don’t defend it please. ty,” People reported.

Not surprisingly, this has elicited plenty of responses on Twitter and elsewhere, mostly focusing on the fact that whether or not she was on Ambien, her comments and intention were still rooted in racism — which does not happen to be one of the side effects of the drug.

More: The Best Gifts for the Insomniac in Your Life

In fact, Sanofi, one of the pharmaceutical companies that makes Ambien, chimed in on Twitter writing: "People of all races, religions and nationalities work at Sanofi every day to improve the lives of people around the world. While all pharmaceutical treatments have side effects, racism is not a known side effect of any Sanofi medication."

sanofi

So, what are the side effects of Ambien? We spoke with a few doctors to find out if Barr's Ambien defense holds up.

The actual side effects of Ambien

Ambien is the brand name of the drug zolpidem, a sedative used to treat insomnia, Dr. David Belk, an internal medicine physician, tells SheKnows. In short, Ambien affects people in ways similar to other common hypnotics and antianxiety drugs, such as Valium or Ativan, all of which have side effects that can be very similar to those of alcohol, Belk explains.

According to Belk, some of the known side effects of Ambien include excessive sedation, confusion and disorientation, lack of motor coordination, slow response times, delayed reflex reactions, dizziness, hallucinations, impaired judgment and aggression.

Like any drug, Ambien affects everyone differently; not everyone who takes it falls asleep.

"If it doesn’t actually put you to sleep, some side effects could be finding yourself in a halfway state of being awake and sleeping," Dr. Prakash Masand, a psychiatrist and founder of the Centers of Psychiatric Excellence, tells SheKnows. These could include unusual behaviors like sleepwalking, sleep-talking, performing certain activities, making food, calling people or ordering products online. Then, when you become fully awake, some people have amnesia about these things and no recollection whatsoever of having done them, he adds.

But what's definitely not a side effect of Ambien? Racism.

Based on the known side effects, Belk says that "no one could say for sure" that a person who has taken Ambien couldn't send out a racist tweet any more than a person who is drunk might do so. "That said, I can't find any report of anyone acting this way simply because they took zolpidem, nor do I think it would matter much," he notes. "After all, if Roseanne had claimed that she only sent out that tweet because she drank too much that night, would we accept that excuse?"

So, does Barr's Ambien alibi have legs at all?

According to psychiatrist Dr. Alex Dimitriu, if Barr took Ambien anytime within four to five hours (or possibly longer) before the tweet, it is possible that her behavior may have been influenced by the drug. He says it's not uncommon for people to forget what they are doing after taking the medication, especially when they do not successfully go to sleep.

More: The Simple Thing You Can Do to Sleep Better Tonight

"Ambien can cause disinhibition — in other words causing people to do things without thinking through the consequences," Masand explains. "Due to this, the only thing Ambien likely did to Roseanne was lower or remove her inhibition and allow her to reveal her true feelings without giving it a second thought. But to try and blame her racist remarks on the medication itself is unfounded."

So, playing fast and loose with Twitter is one thing, but the racism is all her.

"The alibi of being under the influence of Ambien or zolpidem does not stand," Dr. Niket Sonpal, the associate program director of the internal medicine residency at Brookdale Hospital Medical Center in Brooklyn, tells SheKnows. "It would not change her feelings or opinions on a specific topic."

Is Barr more affected by the drug because she's a woman? Dr. Gail Saltz, an associate professor of psychiatry at the NY Presbyterian Hospital Weill-Cornell School of Medicine, tells SheKnows that women are more prone to side effects than men because we metabolize the drug more slowly than they do, and for this reason, it is generally recommended that women take a smaller dose. But again, not an excuse for racism.

A popular defense

Barr is hardly the first famous person to use Ambien as an alibi for questionable decision-making. Not one, but two members of the Kennedy family have blamed the sleeping pill for car crashes. The first happened in 2006, when then-Congressperson Robert Kennedy (son of Sen. Ted Kennedy) said that taking Ambien and an anti-nausea drug caused him to crash his car into a barricade on Capitol Hill, CNN reported. Then, in July 2012, Kerry Kennedy (daughter of Sen. Robert F. Kennedy) said that she had inadvertently taken Ambien instead of her thyroid medication right before getting into a car accident, CNN also reported.

Similarly, Ambien (along with Vicodin, Dilaudid, Xanax and THC) was found in Tiger Woods' system after his DUI arrest in 2017, though the police officers who pulled him over initially thought he had been drinking alcohol, People reported.

In 2017, Elon Musk sent a barrage of odd tweets including comments about vintage records, being 500 years old and his seven-step facial treatment, Mashable reported. Musk later conceded in another message that "tweeting on Ambien isn't wise."

Back in March 2018, Sean Penn also blamed Ambien for his strange behavior during an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, which included looking lethargic and disheveled and smoking two cigarettes, People reported.

And it's not just celebrities: An entire section of Reddit is devoted to "things you did on Ambien," New York Magazine reported in 2017. These include building a bathroom cabinet with no memory of doing so, having a dream in which Kid Cudi writes the Declaration of Independence whilst sitting on a piano made of cherries and reorganizing a kitchen.

But this goes beyond tabloid fodder: the Ambien alibi can end up preventing people from getting the treatment they need.

"It is a real problem when celebrities blame a medication that many people need and benefit from for mental health purposes because it frightens people using the medication, sometimes a medication they really need," Saltz adds. "Many people won’t be reassured by a psychiatrist telling them that this purported 'side effect' is untrue."

Gwyneth Paltrow Continues to Have the Best 2018 With Brad Falchuk

Who says you have to wait until your honeymoon to go on a relaxing tropical vacation? Gwyneth Paltrow and her TV producer fiancé Brad Falchuk reportedly aren’t walking down the aisle until later this year, but the happy couple couldn’t resist sneaking off for one more pre-wedding trip. And this time, they brought the kids along too.

More: Gwyneth Paltrow, Bride-to-Be, Is Ready for a Wild Bachelorette Party

Although Paltrow and Falchuk undoubtedly still have plenty of wedding planning to do before their nuptials, they clearly embrace one of life’s fundamental truths — there’s always time for Cabo! According to E! News, the Goop creator and her soon-to-be husband hopped a private jet to Mexico on Friday morning with her kids, Apple Martin, 14, and Moses Martin, 12, as well as Falchuk’s three children Suzanne, Isabella and Brody. An inside source reportedly also told E! News that a few of the couple’s friends joined the family in all of their Cabo fun.

But you know the rule: if it isn’t on social media, it didn’t happen. So, naturally, Paltrow took to Instagram to share a few bikini-clad snapshots from the vacation. In one photo, an enthusiastic Paltrow jumps for joy on a white sand beach.

In another, she’s cozied up to Falchuk in a scenic spot she refers to as the “green lagoon.”

It’s not hard to see that Paltrow and Falchuk enjoyed their impromptu getaway, a fact confirmed by E! News’ source.

“The weekend was very relaxing and Gwyneth and Brad seemed happy to just sit back and watch the kids run free,” said the source. “They spent a lot of time sitting at the beach chatting. Every once in awhile they joined the kids for a dip in the ocean and to talk to friends. They were both very social and friendly with their friends. Everyone had a great time together and didn’t want to leave.”

Did you see that lagoon? We wouldn’t want to leave either.

But reality beckons, and with it, the couple’s impending nuptials. In a joint statement when they announced their engagement, Paltrow and Falchuk alluded to the fact that this was the perfect time in their lives to come together — that past relationships and life lessons had led them each to precisely where they needed to be.

One of those life lessons, as Paltrow told Howard Stern on Wednesday, was former boyfriend Ben Affleck. “It’s interesting. I think there’s certain boyfriends where you are trying to work stuff out, right? Like you’re trying to heal certain stuff from your childhood and he was very much a lesson in that way,” Paltrow explained. “I’m not sure exactly what I was trying to heal in that instance, but it was… he was, you know, it was specific,” she added.

Happily, whatever Paltrow’s past relationships were supposed to do, they apparently did the trick. She seems happy and healthy heading into her marriage to Falchuk.

Kourtney Kardashian Was Mom-Shamed for Her Kids' Unibrow?

When it comes to mom-shaming, Kourtney Kardashian is no stranger. She has been shamed for wearing a bikini (twice!), kissing her kids on the lips, and allowing her daughter, Penelope, to wear a lip ring. Just when you thought it couldn’t become worse, the mom of three was criticized for — wait for it — not tweezing her son’s unibrow? (Cue the eye rolls.)

Kardashian was reunited with her mom-shamers on Monday when her ex-boyfriend, Scott Disick, posted an Instagram of their 8-year-old son, Mason Disick. The Instagram featured an adorable shot of Mason and Disick spending some quality father-and-son time with an equally adorable caption. “My life,” Disick wrote. But as cute as the picture was, many users apparently couldn’t ignore Mason’s eyebrows.

Immediately, Disick’s Instagram was flooded with people criticizing him and Kardashian for not tweezing or shaving (?!?) this child's eyebrows. The pair’s parenting was questioned, as many critics questioned how the family could have so much money and not "take care" of their eldest son. (Is the pain of tweezing an 8-year-old boy not a good enough reason?) Some even criticized Kardashian for spending money on her appearance but "neglecting" to give the same attention to her son. A few comments included:

“All that money and y’all cant do something w that poor kids eyebrow!”

“How you ganna let your son walk around with a brow like that but mamas ass and tittys and everything bout her is always looking good?”

“That boy got some fucked up eyebrows"

“Yikes! Fix his eyebrows!”

“You have how much money and you cant help your kids unibrow lol??”

However, not all of the comments were negative. Many fans defended Kardashian and Disick, pointing out that Mason is indeed a small child who should have no reason to change anything about his natural appearance. Several fans brought up that such an onslaught of criticism is why so many children develop completely off-base insecurities.

Of course, there’s no way Kardashian could’ve won. If she doesn’t tweeze Mason’s eyebrows, she’s mom-shamed. If she tweezes them, we’re sure mom-shamers will come for her for inflicting pain on her son for the purpose of vanity. Let's just let Kardashian and Disick parent their son how they like and stop with the shaming already, shall we?

Fans of the show (myself included) were elated to find out that not only would the show be making a comeback in 2018 but the reboot would include all the original cast members, including the host of the show, Paige Davis.

Now, 17 years after Trading Spaces first premiered, Davis has become an expert on all things design and renovation. We were lucky enough to chat with Davis recently, and we asked her all our home-renovation and decor questions.

SheKnows: When did you first become interested in home renovations?

Paige Davis: My first love has always been dancing/singing/acting and musical theater, but my mother’s first passion is interior design. From a very young age, I learned to appreciate home improvement. My mother always made us redo our houses all the time.

It will only cause you a headache down the line — pun intended! When it comes to painting, I can’t stress enough how important it is to prep your space. Before painting, I always clean the wall first and make sure to mask the room with Scotch Blue Painter’s Tape to make sure I’ll be left with clean lines in the end. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen people try to cut around this step, and it only causes more work in the end.

SK: Is there a home reno project that’s great to let the kids get involved in/that families can tackle together?

PD: Any way that you can get your kids involved and make it a family activity is always great. If there are any hidden walls, like inside your kitchen pantry, have your kids make their handprints as stamps as a great memory to have in years to come. If you really trust them, have them assist in the painting process.

SK: If you want to makeover a bedroom but only have $100 to spend, how do you get the most bang for your buck?

PD: What’s old is new again. Take what you already have and work with it. You don’t have to spend money on unnecessary items that you might already have lying around your house. Repurposing items is the best money-saving hack out there.

SK: To those interested in purchasing a fixer-upper home for the first time, what do they need to know or look for before buying? Any red flags that indicate a home is not worth purchasing?

PD: The same rule applies for buying any home — location, location, location! Whether we're talking about school district or flood zone. Be careful because you don’t want to fix up a home to be beautiful only to have it float away.

SK: Home decor can be pretty trendy and it can be expensive to keep up with. Are there any “trends” that you think are truly timeless?

PD: Brass is very popular now, but in my opinion, any kind of metal will always be on trend. It can fit fabulously into vintage decor, contemporary spaces or even country homes. There are brass accents available at any price point.

SK: Houseplants and gardens are really growing in popularity. People are finding all sorts of creative ways to incorporate plants into their decor. Are there any garden trends you are loving this summer?

PD: I love the idea of a garden wall. We recently did one with single long-stem flowers, and it came out beautifully. Bringing elements from the outside in can really change a room.

SK: What is your favorite home decor style? Are you more modern, boho, minimalist or mid-century modern?

PD: Minimalist and contemporary are my favorite, and my home would be more of those styles if I didn’t live with a husband. I love cold — cement and glass aren’t intimidating to me. I find them beautiful and actually not cold at all, but that’s just me. Luckily I’m tempered by a husband who understands a home should have warmth and comfort to it.

SK: Is there a home decor style you really don’t like?

PD: What comes to mind immediately is country, but the truth is even country can have a contemporary flair. We see it, for instance, in a lot of the contemporary farmhouse chic style that is so popular right now. I can totally vibe on that.

SK: For those who have smaller homes/apartments, what are your tips to making them feel and look bigger?

PD: Believe it or not, people, myself included, think that with a small space, you need smaller items but that’s not always the case. I recently learned that tricking the scale and bringing in larger items actually opens up the space. Of course, you don’t want to do it with oversize couches and cabinets, but adding a single oversized item can actually add a ton of appeal and can make the room feel more spacious.

Becca Kufrin Will Have an Arie-Themed Date Night, & We're Already Over It

Listen, we're all for Becca Kufrin getting over her heartbreak any way she can. She's had it rough, especially considering one of the most notable heartbreaks she's gone through happened on national television. And we all understand that the way former Bachelor Arie Luyendyk Jr. treated her by dumping her so brutally on live television will forever be part of Kufrin's story as a public figure. But please, for Pete's sake, can we please stop talking about him and referring to his breakup with Kufrin at every possible turn? It's a silly wish, really, because it seems that the ghost of Luyendyk will continue to haunt Kufrin's Bachelorette season way past the season premiere.

On Thursday, we learned through Refinery29 that there will be a themed date night on an upcoming episode of The Bachelorette, and yes, the theme is "Arie Luyendyk Jr." Well, more to the point, it's going to involve Kufrin taking one lucky date into a room that will probably be filled with things that probably have Luyendyk's face on it and that can also be smashed with such force that it literally and metaphorically wipes him out of Kufrin's past. Sounds... fun?

The way Kufrin explained it during an interview with Good Morning America, this is supposed to be cathartic more than anything else. "Next episode, I will say, I do have my favorite date of all time," she told the morning news show. "It's called 'the rage room' and I go in with one lucky guy and we just smash everything from the past."

Kufrin continued, giving the full 411 on this "rage room" date: "So I walked into this warehouse, and it's [Luyendyk's] old race car from last season, it's the proposal playing on a loop on monitors that we can smash. We had sledgehammers, we had baseball bats, we had crowbars — everything. Everything was fair game! It was so fun."

We don't doubt that this will be fun to watch, and yes, it will probably be totally cathartic for Kufrin. But... isn't there another way to bond with one of the guys who is potentially trying to win your hand in marriage? Whatever happened to a good, old-fashioned dinner date?

Why Are We So Fascinated by Celebrity Love Lives?

Open any entertainment news section — including the one on this site — and several of the top stories will likely pertain to the relationships of the rich and/or famous. Is the break up of the marriage of HGTV hosts really news? Logic says no, but page views on such stories say otherwise.

So, what's the draw? Most people go through some sort of relationship drama themselves and aren't typically the most enthusiastic about hearing their friend talk about their latest complaints about their partner. And yet we can't get enough information on the romantic lives of celebrities. It doesn't really seem to make sense. Or does it?

1. It's a form of escapism

If your real-life love life isn't cutting it, focusing on the romantic entanglements of others may be a nice respite from reality.

More: Why Are We So Fascinated by Celebrity Body-Shaming?

"People like fantasy, as it is a way of escaping from their own lives," Kimberly Hershenson, a New York City-based therapist, tells SheKnows. "Looking at celebrities’ relationships often creates a means for people to divert attention away from themselves and focus on something they see as 'magical.'"

Given all the garbage we've been fed about finding Prince(ss) Charming and living happily ever after, it's no wonder we're drawn to real-life versions of these supposed fairy tales, Dr. Fran Walfish, Beverly Hills family and relationship psychotherapist, author of The Self-Aware Parent, regular expert child psychologist on The Doctors and costar on Sex Box, tells SheKnows.

"Watching celebrity romantic relationships feeds the fantasy of our own desires and wishes," Walfish explains. "The look of love exchanged between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle makes us want to be loved in the same unbridled, unconditional way. Meghan has decided to give up her acting profession in order to make her role as wife of the prince, future mother and humanitarian work her life goals. Her television and film career will not interfere with her royal duties, responsibilities or marital relationship. Many young women dream of being swept off their feet and carried away by their Prince Charming (and vice versa)!"

2. It can give us hope

Relationships can often feel hopeless. If you're in one, you may feel trapped. And if you're not in one, you may feel as though you may never meet someone. Looking to the lives of the famous could make us feel more hopeful about our own lives, Hershenson says.

"Sometimes it’s easier to focus on others than it is to focus on yourself," she explains. "When life gets tough, looking at someone who has what you want can give you hope."

3. We can learn something

Sometimes, when we see mistakes other people make, it can teach us something about ourselves and how we behave in relationships.

"Celebrities often put their career before their relationship or talk too much publicly about their relationship," Hershenson explains. "Both can cause problems and may be cautionary tales on what you can do differently."

Ultimately, Walfish says that the greatest lesson we can learn from the love lives of celebrities is that they struggle with virtually the same issues as everyone else. "The biggest challenges in relationships boil down to communication problems; poor conflict resolution skills; different parenting styles; disputes over sex, money, in-laws and career," she explains. "Money and status do not buy happiness. Public notoriety and fame add stress to a relationship and outweigh the perks that the public perceives."

MoreKelly Clarkson Has No Time for Twitter Body-Shamers

Are there any downsides? Yes, Hershenson says. "If one focuses too much on fantasy or relationships they know nothing about, you can get unrealistic expectations about what a healthy relationship involves," she notes.

Along the same lines, it can also deter single people from pursuing real-life relationships, Walfish says. The escapism aspect can go too far. "For single folks who live an isolated and lonely lifestyle, watching celebrity couple updates can become an obsession and a kind of denial by distracting from the lonely dreariness of their own life," Walfish notes.

Overall, though, it's perfectly natural to be interested in the romantic lives of celebrities — as long as you're able to separate fantasy from reality.

Justin Theroux & Emma Stone Have Been Hanging Out a Lot Lately

Justin Theroux may be spending a lot of time with Emma Stone, but don't start crafting your new-couple-alert tweets just yet. Since Theroux and Jennifer Aniston announced their split in February, the actor has been hanging out with a lot of his famous friends according to People. It just so happens that a lot of them are close female friends, and Stone is one of them.

More: Should We Put Out a New Couple Alert for Justin Theroux & Aubrey Plaza?

People details in their report why these romance rumors about Theroux and Stone are coming up now. According to the outlet, the pair was most recently spotted hanging out in a bungalow at the famous Hôtel du Cap in France on Tuesday. They were both in the country for the Louis Vuitton Cruise 2019 show, acting as ambassadors for the brand alongside actors Ruth Negga and Jennifer Connelly. Theroux was also spotted with actor Laura Harrier, also at the Hôtel du Cap, just a few days before photos were snapped of him and Stone.

Theroux and Stone have also been working together on the upcoming Netflix series Maniac, which may explain why they've been spending a lot of time together. In December, Theroux posted an Instagram, which was a slow-motion video with Stone showcasing some of their onset shenanigans. Of course, that was before Theroux and Aniston ended their marriage, which implies these two have been keeping it friendly for a long time.

A source seems to confirm this to People, remarking that Theroux and Stone are just friends, though the publication notes that the pair was photographed having dinner together in New York City a few nights before the 2018 Met Gala earlier in May, and they also allegedly attended a party together after the event.

Because romantic rumors seem to follow Theroux wherever he goes these days, he got pretty honest on his Instagram story, captioning a since-deleted post that featured himself, Stone and Queer Eye's Jonathan Van Ness, with "Bffffffs. And yes. JUST bfffffs.” Meanwhile, the actor has also been seen hanging out with Harrier, Aubrey Plaza, Erika Cardenas and Petra Collins. Maybe he's dating very casually or maybe he's just hanging out with friends — that's his business until he decides he's ready to share it with us.

We're willing to take him at his word that he and Stone are "JUST bfffffs," as he so cheekily puts it, so we'll hold off on the dating speculation for now.

Actor and model Brigitte Nielsen announced some huge news on Wednesday: She's pregnant with her fifth child! Nielsen shared that she and her husband, Mattia Dessì, are expecting their first child together in two beautiful Instagram posts.

In the first, Nielsen lounges on a wicker couch wearing a white dress and cream sweater. "Family getting larger. #me #family #brigitte nielsen #babybump," she captioned the picture.

The second photo, which features the caption, "Happy time positive vibes," shows Nielsen relaxing on a different couch while reading from an iPad and holding her pregnant belly. Unfortunately, some of the commenters didn't get the "positive vibes" memo and instead felt compelled to dampen the mood.

"It's cruel to have a baby when you're so old that they'll probably lose their mom in their teens," one person wrote. Another chimed in, "Ewww...nothing beautiful about this. A mother who is to give birth to their own grandchild. Gosh I hate IVF...making dinosaur uterus fertile again."

Um, let's get a couple of things straight: 1. Fifty-four is by no means "old." She's a functioning human being, not a corpse, and while it's less common for women in their 50s to get pregnant, it's not impossible. 2. There is absolutely nothing wrong with using IVF as a means to get pregnant. In fact, assisted reproductive technology, especially IVF treatments, is becoming increasingly popular in the United States according to the CDC. In 2016, for example, more than 260,000 women used ART treatments, and nearly 77,000 babies were born as a result. Let's leave the medical input to the professionals.

Nielsen is the latest actor over 40 to announce a pregnancy, joining the likes of Rachel Weisz, Janet Jackson and Eva Longoria.

Nielsen has been thinking about IVF treatments for at least a decade. "The children have kept me going. After I do Playboy, we want to try IVF," she said in a 2008 interview. "It's asking a lot, but if it's possible, it would make our package complete."

Now, her dream is finally coming true. Step aside, haters. This is Nielsen's time, and we could not be happier for her!

They're serving it on the side as a "free" mini slider, their version of a doughnut hole. Now, how cute is that? The fast-food chain is calling this the first flame-grilled doughnut ever, and we can't argue with that.

It's been 32 long, sad years without a Top Gun sequel, and the world has changed pretty significantly since the classic film hit theaters in 1986. In 2017, Tom Cruise confirmed that a sequel is on the way. Cruise said on the Australian TV show Sunrise, “It’s true. I’m going to start probably in the next year. I know, it’s happening. It’s definitely happening."

Now, as NME reported on Thursday, not only is the Top Gun sequel definitely happening, it's happening right now. In a tweet Cruise posted on Wednesday, fans got treated to a photo of Cruise's iconic character, Pete "Maverick" Mitchell standing with his helmet in his hand and staring off into the distance where an empty plane awaits him. The words "Feel the need" are laid over top (a reference to one of the film's most iconic lines) and Cruise simply wrote, "#Day1" to accompany the photo.

According to Variety, sources confirmed that the Top Gun sequel, titled Top Gun: Maverick, began filming in the U.S. during the final week of May. The plot has been kept under wraps since the very beginning, although the outlet reports that it will explore drone technology and that Maverick is now a flight instructor.

Aside from Cruise, no other casting information has been announced for Top Gun: Maverick. The original starred Cruise, Val Kilmer and Kelly McGillis. Jerry Bruckheimer for Jerry Bruckheimer Films is back for the sequel as a producer alongside David Ellison for Skydance.

Supposedly, Top Gun: Maverick has been in the works since at least 2010, just two years before the original film's director, Tony Scott, died. In 2015, the United States Library of Congress selected Top Gun for preservation in the National Film Registry. The film was honored along with 24 other "culturally, historically, or aesthetically" significant films in the library's annual listing.

4 Ways to Survive Working With a Friend or Family Member

$

By Elizabeth Ballou

Working at the same company as your best friend or sibling might sound amazing: You get to spend your nine-to-five with someone who’s already close to you. It’s not always that simple, though. You may have days when your sister’s habit of cracking her knuckles is driving you up the wall or friend-group drama means you don’t want to see your friend outside the office, much less inside.

If that happens, you might think, “How am I going to survive this situation without losing it?”

There are steps you can take, though, to ensure your relationship with a coworker who’s also a friend or family stays strong.

1. Set conversational boundaries

Sit down with your coworker and make a list of the things you won’t talk about while at work, whether in person, through text or over Slack. That way, you’ll keep from distracting each other.

For example, maybe you work with your brother, and your father isn’t in very good health. It stresses out both you and your brother, and you realize that if you talk about your dad’s condition at work, you’ll get too worried to focus. You and your brother decide that you’ll only discuss your father outside work unless there’s an emergency.

Make sure to also list the positive, funny things that throw you off your groove. I joined a company where one of my college friends worked. We initially distracted each other by talking nonstop about all the podcasts we listened to. Eventually, we decided to cut down on the podcast chatter in order to get more done.

2. Find backup buddies

It may be tempting to invest all your social energy at work into your friend or family member. After all, you’ve already known that person for a while. However, that mind-set will prevent you from making meaningful friendships in the workplace.

During lunch and breaks, make a conscious effort to talk to other people. If you start to develop a rapport with a few coworkers, ask them to get drinks or coffee with you to strengthen that bond. If you run into problems during the workday or get to collaborate on a project, turn to someone other than your friend or family.

That way, you’ll still have people you enjoy being around if your pal leaves the office, calls in sick or rubs you the wrong way.

3. Don’t hang out too much outside of work

Try to diversify your social life outside of work, not just inside it. Say you work at the same office as your best friend — that doesn’t mean your friend should always be your go-to partner for going out, seeing movies or getting brunch, to name a few activities. Part of developing a healthy network of relationships is spending time with multiple people, not only your favorite pal.

Let’s say that a museum downtown has a new exhibit that’s getting rave reviews. You’re free this weekend, so you pick up your phone to text your best friend in the next office about going to the exhibit. Stop before you do that, though. As wonderful as your best friend is, you see them all the time. Try reaching out to other friends you don’t get to see as much, or new friends you want to get to know better.

After all, one of the perks of a strong friendship is that your best pal will always be there for you. You’ll see them on Monday (and Tuesday and Wednesday).

More: 6 Hard Realities No One Tells You About Telecommuting

4. Have patience with each other

You and your close friend or family member spend a lot of time together if you’re also coworkers. People in close proximity often push each other’s buttons, so try to be patient and remember that your father doesn’t mean to make you grit your teeth when he interrupts you at meetings.

Instead, be gentle with him. He’s close to you for a reason. Take time to clear your head and then bring up your problem with him the same way you’d address it with any coworker.

Working in the same space as those you love isn’t always easy, but it’s a unique opportunity to make something alongside a person who already understands you deeply. Setting boundaries, being forgiving and remembering to laugh are all key to making a friendship or family relationship rewarding, both in the office and at home.

Getting Pregnant After 50 Like Brigitte Nielsen Is Rare, but Not Impossible

When Brigitte Nielsen announced she is pregnant with her fifth child at the age of 54, people immediately had questions. Did she conceive via assisted reproduction techniques? Is this pregnancy safe for her and the baby? How common is pregnancy over the age of 50? We asked a few doctors to weigh in on whether Nielsen's situation is at all unusual and about some of the practicalities of getting and being pregnant in your 50s.

Also, let's just get this out of the way at the beginning: Older men become fathers. All. The. Damn. Time. Mick Jagger, Steve Martin and George Clooney — there is no shortage of mature men becoming dads later in life. And for the most part, people seem OK with it despite the fact that there's evidence that children with fathers older than 45 are more likely to develop severe mental or developmental issues such as autism, schizophrenia and attention deficit disorders along with forms of dwarfism.

More: Dads Have a Biological Clock Too

OK, back to Nielsen.

How common is pregnancy over the age of 50?

Let's start at the beginning. People born with a uterus and ovaries typically arrive with a fixed number of eggs and slowly use them up over the course of their lives until menopause is reached, Dr. Thomas A. Molinaro, a board-certified reproductive endocrinologist at Reproductive Medicine Associates of New Jersey (RMANJ), OB-GYN and clinical assistant professor for the department of obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive science at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, tells SheKnows.

"As women age, infertility and miscarriages become more common due to the diminishing quantity and quality of eggs," he explains.

According to Dr. Yen Tran, an OB-GYN at MemorialCare Orange Coast Medical Center in Fountain Valley, California, pregnancy after the age of 50 was extremely rare before in-vitro fertilization. But now, reproductive developments like IVF, egg freezing and donor eggs are changing this, she tells SheKnows.

More: Everything You've Ever Wanted to Know About Egg Freezing

"Recent trends have shown that more women are postponing childbearing for the purpose of advancing their careers and pursuing education and other activities," Tran explains. "So by the time many women are deciding to have children, they can be at a very advanced maternity age."

And then there's menopause. According to Dr. G. Thomas Ruiz, an OB-GYN at MemorialCare Medical Group in Fountain Valley, California, the average age women enter menopause is 51, and it occurs because the ovaries have stopped functioning. In other words: Ovaries that don't function no longer produce eggs, so in order for pregnancy to occur, assisted reproductive technology would have to be utilized.

How does it work?

Thanks to ever-advancing reproductive technologies like IVF, egg freezing and egg donation, it's giving people more options for becoming pregnant later in life. Whether the egg comes from the same person who gestates the fetus (from prior egg freezing) or a new donor (or is the product of an unassisted conception), carrying a pregnancy at an advanced maternal age can be a little more difficult, Molinaro explains.

"These pregnancies are often considered high-risk, but with proper medical supervision can be very safe," he says. "It is essential that women over the age of 45 have a thorough evaluation prior to attempting pregnancy in order to ensure that they are healthy enough to carry a pregnancy."

What are the risks &/or benefits of pregnancy over the age of 50?

If someone gets pregnant naturally after age 42, there is a significantly higher risk of Down syndrome, Tran says. In addition, as pregnant people get older, there is also a higher chance of having gestational diabetes, preeclampsia, intrauterine growth restrictions and fetal demise, she adds. This has resulted in there being some stigma surrounding women at a more advanced age seeing a fertility specialist if getting pregnant naturally doesn't work out, Molinaro says.

However, Molinaro recommends that by the age of 35, people looking to get pregnant see a fertility specialist. "The quality and number of eggs change significantly after the age of 36, and there’s a higher chance of miscarriages," he explains. "If a couple doesn’t reach pregnancy after one year, they should seek special care."

The bottom line is that really, with our expanding reproductive technologies comes expanding reproductive choices, like delaying pregnancy. Is it the right choice for everyone? Probably not. Could there be complications? Yes, but that's the case with any pregnancy. But is it possible? Absolutely. And we wish Nielsen and her family all the best.

Chris Pratt Reveals Son Jack Once Cursed Out a Fish

Someone's got a big mouth — and we're not just talking about the latest bass on Chris Pratt's fishing line! The actor recently revealed during an interview on The Graham Norton Show that his 5-year-old son, Jack, has quite the colorful vocabulary.

Pratt, who shares custody of Jack with his ex-wife, Anna Faris, said he first learned about his son's sharp tongue on a fishing trip.

"I had this rule with my old man, and I have it with my son, which is when you're fishing you can swear," he explained. "It's just the guys, go ahead and let loose."

But not even Pratt could have expected his son to take his new freedom this far.

"He catches a fish, and I'm trying to get him to take a picture with the fish before we let it go, and it flops out of his hands. The bass have these little spines on their back, and the fin pokes him on the hand, and it falls in the water," he added. "He starts to cry...I said, 'Hey, buddy are you all right?' He said, 'Oh, dad I'm about to swear.'"

Things started out relatively calm, with Jack calling the fish "stupid," but his PG-rated tirade didn't last for very long, ending with Jack saying, "That stupid bass is a fucking pussy!"

Pratt, who has always been an avid fisher, revealed earlier this year that he's also into raising and butchering his own meat, specifically lamb. In one photo, which depicted a display of various cuts, he explained that farming has made him and his son feel more connected to nature.

"I have found a new passion to add to my many others. #farmlife and jack loves it," he wrote. "You’ll know where to sprinkle my ashes. I’ll tell you that."

Hopefully, there's not as much cursing on the farm!
