5 Fast and easy meals for families on the go

Ready made meals

You'll find plethora of heat-and-eat meals calling out to busy moms from the freezer section at the grocery store. All ready-made meals are not created equal, though, and it's important to take a few moments to read labels to make sure you're not stocking your freezer with food that's full of calories and light on nutrition. The new Tyson® Stuffed Mini Bread Bowls are a great option for busy families because they come packed with protein, vegetables, fresh bread and cheese. Our favorite is their Chicken Broccoli and Cheese Stuffed Mini Bread Bowl. It's a well-rounded option that will get you through dinnertime in a pinch.

Soups and stews

The next time you make your family's favorite soup or stew, double the batch and freeze single serve portions for a perfect microwave-ready meal. Since most soups freeze really well, you can have a home-cooked meal straight out of the microwave. And freezing soup in single portions makes defrosting and heating much faster. On a chilly, fall evening, a microwave baked sweet potato topped with black bean chili is hard to beat. It's perfect fuel to get your family through a busy evening!

Have breakfast for dinner

Make scrambled eggs in less than a minute by microwaving them in a mug. Just mix one egg with a tablespoon of milk or water. Add ham, turkey, cheese, salsa or chopped veggies, cover with plastic wrap and heat on high for around 45 seconds. It will be done before you've had a chance to butter the side of toast that pairs perfectly with this quick and yummy meal.

Quick quesadillas

Quesadillas are super easy to prepare in the microwave! Get your kids involved and let them customize their quesadillas with their favorite ingredients. To make micro-dillas, just place a single tortilla on a piece of wax paper. Top the tortilla with cheese, salsa, beans, chicken or beef, and veggies. Top the filling with another tortilla and cover with one more sheet of wax paper. Cook on high for approximately one minute, allow to cool and enjoy!

Leave a little room for dessert

Even with a hectic schedule, finding a little time to satisfy your sweet tooth can be lots of fun for the family ! One of the easiest ways to make a microwavable dessert is simply by making a quick fondue by melting chocolate in the microwave. Dip banana slices, strawberries, brownies or graham crackers for a special treat. Or you can also try mixing melted chocolate with ricotta cheese to make a cheesecake style dip that is borderline amazing with chocolate wafer cookies. By keeping it simple, you can enjoy many of your favorite foods and flavors -- even when you are on the go!
