Mob Wives' Big Ang shares what made her diagnosis so devastating

More: Mob Wives' Angela Raiola's reaction to her cancer is devastating

Angela "Big Ang" Raiola appeared on The Dr. Oz Show Tuesday to give fans some more details about her confusing back-and-forth diagnosis — in truth, she was declared cancer-free twice, only to have the disease return in different parts of her body.

"It's shocking what happened," she said. "First I thought I was cancer-free. I was gonna have a big celebration… and then a month later I was stage 4."

Raiola was a lifelong smoker before her first diagnosis last April, when doctors found a lemon-sized tumor and surgically removed it. By October, she was told she was cured. Then, late last year, doctors found and removed another mass in her left lung.

"They say you're cancer-free, you beat it twice, what [are] the odds?" she told Dr. Oz. "I'm like, oh God, I'm a lucky person."

Then, during a follow-up appointment in December, Raiola revealed that she had learned her cancer was back for a third time, this time in her right lung and her brain. According to doctors, she said, she only has a 30 percent chance of survival this time.

"I was completely devastated. I couldn't hear what they were saying. I feel like I went deaf," she tearfully admitted during Tuesday's interview. "I was like, 'Oh, this is going too fast for me.' Now I'm just hysterical."

And Raiola also revealed that amid her treatment, she left her husband, Neil Murphy.

"I felt like he never stepped up to the plate, so I was done with it," she explained. "Now, it's too late. I would rather be by myself. I would rather be alone."

Our hearts go out to Big Ang and her family during her difficult battle.

Teen Mom Maci Bookout caught in debate over pregnancy & alcohol

"Baby boy coming soon!" Bookout announced on Valentine's Day in an Instagram photo, which shows her kissing her fiancé on the cheek while they're both holding her adorable (and noticeable) baby bump. While the couple's announcement has been met mostly with warm wishes, some of their fans are speculating she may have been drinking alcohol while pregnant.

Bookout is reportedly due on May 30. This would put her at around 26 weeks pregnant. Some fans who follow her closely have done the math according to Bookout's social-media timeline, and they've got some questions. If you look at her Instagram, she posted a picture of her orange and white checkered shoes alongside a Bud Light in her hand while watching the University of Tennessee football team play in the Outback Bowl. That game was on Jan. 1, when she would have been roughly 20 weeks pregnant.

There's been a lot of speculation and mud-slinging in the press about this. People are alleging that Bookout has been knowingly consuming alcohol while pregnant. Social-media posts considered, this is an understandable assumption.

More: I'm married to a Marine, so why do I feel like a single mom?

However, as with most stories surrounding reality stars in the media, there is likely more to this story than meets the eye. Bookout has reportedly stated this pregnancy was a surprise and that she and her fiancé only recently found out she was indeed with child. Considering that some women never even know they're pregnant until they're in the emergency room about to deliver a surprise baby, Maci's story might be true.

Her daughter isn't even a year old yet. Most women who have had children know how haywire their bodies go before, during and after pregnancy, and many of us can attest to the fact that those changes can make spotting a pregnancy quite difficult. She may have been oblivious because her body hadn't recovered fully from her last pregnancy, and some of those signs could have been disguised as the normal daily mysteries of a woman's postpartum body.

More: Tyra Banks releases first photo of her brand-new baby

If it is true that she only recently found out, it's safe to assume she had no idea there was any risk in having a few drinks during the show. And that happens. How many of us have had a little too much wine during the beginning weeks of pregnancy, only to find out weeks later that we were expecting? One in 10 women admit to having had a drink at some point in their pregnancy. It goes without saying that none of us would have ever been drinking had we known we were pregnant.

The studies go back and forth and back and forth on this, but while all the experts say women should not purposely drink while pregnant, there is some good news for moms who might have had a drink when they didn't know they were expecting: Research shows the risk of fetal alcohol syndrome increases the more moms drink throughout the pregnancy. In other words, drinking once or twice before you know you're pregnant means a much lower risk than someone who drinks consistently during pregnancy.

It's also fair to note that in Bookout's photos, she's simply holding the Bud Light, not drinking it. And so far no study has found that simply being in proximity to alcohol will hurt your fetus.

Wildlife group gives update on seal pup hit by car

More:12 Truths about rescue dogs every owner understands

Now Hope for Wildlife's staff and volunteers are working nonstop to rehabilitate the seal pup, who is underweight and has an injured pelvis: "Teams of two feed him a special seal formula five times a day around the clock and clean him and his unit regularly," Hope for Wildlife's Nicole Payne tells SheKnows. So far, she says the seal, whom they've taken to calling Valentine, is adjusting to his new environment, eating and moving around fairly normally.

Grey seals like Valentine are abundant off the shores of Canada's Nova Scotia, and their population is actually on the rise. There were only 1,000 of these seals making up the Nova Scotia herd in 1960, while in 2014 it was estimated that their numbers had swelled to around 14,000. If Valentine survives, he'll join the rest of the herd, potentially packing on nearly 700 pounds as he spends the next 40 years chasing everything from cod to octopus to lobster.

But Valentine has a long recovery ahead of him and could be at Hope for Wildlife for the next four to five months as he overcomes his injuries. "Three of the most important criteria Valentine needs to reach are swimming well, eating fish on his own and being of a healthy weight," explains Payne.

"Right now, he is kept in a small indoor unit while he puts on some weight and starts thickening his fat layer. Once he reaches a good enough body condition, he gets moved to a large unit and is given access to a pool for small intervals of time while he gets weaned off formula and onto fish to finding and eating fish on his own."

If Valentine can reach all these goals, Hope for Wildlife will reintroduce him to the wild.

Cars hit thousands of animals like Valentine each year on roads throughout the country. Payne notes the vast majority of animals they rehabilitate have been harmed by human causes. "The best thing people can do is pay attention to the road and be even more alert to animals on the road at night," she says.

Check out these images of the group working to rehabilitate Valentine, whom they must rehydrate with electrolytes every couple hours:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/3 cup seasoned breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup chopped shallots
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • Kosher salt and pepper, to taste
  • Olive oil
  • 8 ounces sliced mushrooms
  • 1 large yellow onion, peeled, ends trimmed, sliced
  • 2 cups beef stock
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons cold water
  • 1 small head cabbage, cored, thinly sliced

Directions:

  1. Heat the oven to 400 degrees F, line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or foil, and set it aside.
  2. To a large bowl, add the ground beef, breadcrumbs, shallots, garlic, egg, kosher salt and ground pepper. Using your hands, mix together, and form 1-1/2-inch meatballs.
  3. Add the meatballs to the prepared baking sheet, and bake for about 20 minutes, until firm and fully cooked. Remove from the oven when fully cooked.
  4. While your meatballs bake in the oven, start your sauce and cabbage.
  5. To a large skillet set over medium-high heat, add a few drizzles of olive oil, and add in the mushrooms and onions. Cook for about 5 minutes or until the vegetables start to soften. Stir in the beef stock, and simmer for about 10 minutes or until the onions and mushrooms are soft.
  6. In a small bowl, mix together the cornstarch and cold water. Pour into the onion mixture, and cook until thickened. Add in the meatballs, and toss to combine.
  7. To another large skillet set over medium-high heat, add a few drizzles of olive oil and a few tablespoons of water. Add in the sliced cabbage, season with kosher salt and pepper, and sauté until soft.

Game of Thrones' creepy hall of heads trailer hints at Tyrion's demise

Game of Thrones

There's nothing like a decapitated human head to creep us out. Put hundreds together in a giant, candle-lit hall and the images are pure terror. But then, as if the images in this teaser aren't frightening enough, the dead begin to speak.

More: 9 ways Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is far better than the classic

"The long night is coming, and the dead come with it," says Jon Snow (Kit Harington). That may mean the dead, Jon Snow included, could be returning in some sort of evil form. Though Game of Thrones hasn't explored zombies previously, it's not out of the realm of possibilities.

Catelyn Stark (Michelle Fairley) says, "Show them how it feels to lose what they love." If that doesn't spell out murdering family members, particularly young and innocent ones, we don't know what does.

Joffrey (Jack Gleeson), whispers, "Everyone is mine to torment." It's fair to say we all breathed a sigh of relief when he was poisoned, so the idea that he may still hold some power is truly disturbing.

But at the end of the trailer, we see Tyrion's face dead center between Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner), and Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke). The image makes it seem as if it's Tyrion who is most vulnerable. We've all grown to love him so much, we'd sure hate to see him get killed off.

Seeing Sansa's face next to Tyrion's has us equally worried for her. In this photo below, she appears to have a baby bump.

Sansa Game of Thrones

We can only assume the child belongs to Ramsay Bolton (Iwan Rheon), who brutally raped Sansa last season. Her child, particularly if it's a boy, would be an heir to both the Stark and Bolton houses. This could possibly give Sansa some real power, but only if the baby is born healthy. We hope Sansa can finally get the respect she deserves.

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar visited their daughter Jill and her husband Derick in the mystery location in Central America where they are serving their church, and the family photos they posted got tons of comments — but mainly about cutie-patootie baby Israel.

"Wow Israel has gotten so big !! He is such a cutie," wrote Facebook user Magen Sistrunk.

"Hope you are enjoying your trip. OMG Israel is so big! How do you keep up with him. Is he starting to walk yet?" asked Kimberly Johanna Moses.

"Look at the smile on Israel's face, he is so happy to see Grandma and Grandpa," wrote Sherry M Davis. "Such a delightful little guy. Love you Israel, and your whole family. God Bless you and keep you all safe."

"Looks like you had an awesome time wow cant believe how big Israel has gotten he is such a cutie," [sic] Mandy Sparling commented.

Jill and Derick's whereabouts have been a bit of a mystery. The couple refused to name their exact location in Central America, citing privacy and safety concerns, but got tongues wagging in recent weeks that they may have returned to Arkansas for good over Zika virus concerns after coming for what looks like was just a short family visit.

More: 19 Kids and Counting: People are not happy over the show's rumored return

Derick updated the family's blog last week with news of Jim Bob and Michelle's visit, plus some details on little Israel.

"Jill's parents surprised us recently with an impromptu visit for a few days. It was great to have them with us and get to show them the work the Lord is doing here," he wrote. "Israel just turned 10 months and now enjoys eating fruits and veggies. Some of his favorites are bananas and avocados. He weighs a whopping 23 pounds and is cruising everywhere! We've had to baby proof our house, adding cabinet locks and outlet covers that Grandma C (my mom) sent down. Israel definitely enjoyed all the attention when Grandma and Grandpa Duggar came to visit."

There is no word on when — or if — the Duggar splinter branch means to return to U.S. soil for good.

More: Fans aren't buying Kristen Taekman's reason for leaving RHONY

Taekman, who left The Real Housewives of New York prior to the beginning of filming for the show's upcoming season, appears to be keeping close tabs on her former co-stars, because she has plenty to say about de Lesseps' recent engagement to Thomas D'Agostino.

"No [I’m not surprised it happened so fast], because I think probably when you fall in love, you fall in love," Taekman said after de Lesseps and D'Agostino were engaged. "I’m really happy for her. I think that’s awesome. I think LuAnn is an amazing woman and I think she deserves love. It’s very exciting. I’m very happy for her."
De Lesseps and D'Agostino only dated for a few months before he popped the question, but they seemed to have marriage in mind for a lot of their relationship. De Lesseps seemed to know it was coming, because she hinted that there may be a proposal in her future just days before she was spotted sporting her new ring.
Despite their brief time together, Taekman shared with Bravo's Daily Dish that she thought they were a good fit for one another.
"They’re just very similar — the same interests, and they both have this joie de vivre that's as endearing as it is infectious," she said. "I think they have reflective personalities — they seem to view life through the same lens. They both love traveling, being on a boat, having great food, being among friends... They’re definitely spur-of-the-moment people who love to be out and both are very enthusiastic about living it up!"

Were you surprised that LuAnn de Lesseps got engaged so soon after meeting her new beau? Sound off down in the comments.

Danielle Staub's daughter reveals how RHONJ ruined her teenage years

More: Danielle Staub is engaged! 8 things to know about her new fiancé

But we had no idea how bad it could actually be. The Real Housewives of New Jersey star Danielle Staub's forthcoming memoir includes a personal essay written by her teenage daughter, Christine Staub, explaining how her mom's role on the show ruined her teenage years.

The trauma Staub endured sounds downright nighmarish. In one passage, she describes seeing her mother verbally and physically attacked in a restaurant.

"In her two seasons on the show — and the half dozen years following — my mother has been described in many ways. She's been called trash, garbage, a pig, an extortionist, a felon, a husband stealer. She was even branded as a 'prostitution whore,"' Staub writes. "Imagine an irate woman flipping over a table as she screamed that name at my mother. Actually, you don't have to imagine at all, because the scene lives on as one of the most iconic moments in reality television history. As for me, I don't need to be reminded. My little sister and I were there. We saw the table fly on our mother, we heard the expletives, we ran as fast as we could to try to catch up as she was chased around the restaurant, and we heard her cries for help. We felt helpless and unable to defend her."

More: Danielle Staub puts on clothes, seeks psychological help

In another passage, she describes sexual harassment that took place in her high school because of a comment another Housewife had made about her mom.

"Freshman year of high school, for example, I was cornered by a group of football players. 'C'mon, Christine,' one of them said, as he motioned towards his crotch. 'I'm ready for my daily blow job.' I was mortified. Not to mention confused. Behind him, the other guys snickered. 'Don't be shy, Christine,' he said, moving closer. 'I mean, isn't this what you and your mom do for fun?'"

Eventually, after Danielle Staub left the show, she and her family were forced to leave their New Jersey hometown so Staub could find work without being judged for how she was portrayed on RHONJ. Christine Staub, now a college-bound high school senior, encourages readers to give her mother her voice back.

"As for my mother, she has been silenced for far too long, and now it is time for her to open up about every dirty detail once and for all," she writes. "I don't care what any TV viewer believes her to be, or how any media outlet defines her. I know who she is, and I admire her. Now I have a voice, and the time has come for my mother to reclaim her own — to reclaim the respect she deserves."

West, who is already persona non grata with Taylor Swift after she made it clear at the Grammys that his lyrics about her suck, has allegedly angered Kardashian family matriarch and business manager Kris Jenner over meddling in the family's financial affairs.

The trouble started when West tried to shoot down Kylie Jenner's Puma deal on Twitter last week, implying it was a conflict of interest because he has a deal with Adidas.

Apparently his little stunt left Kris fuming.

"It really pissed her off," an insider told Radar Online. "Kris was completely livid after he blasted the tweet out saying that Kylie would not take the Puma deal, because Kris worked on that deal!

"Kanye fails to remember sometimes that Kris is the boss in the family and has a hand in all of her children's endorsements," the source continued.

"She told him that she decides which deals her daughters do and not him."

And it sounds like Kris will get her way. Although neither Kylie nor Puma have yet to comment, reputable sneaker blog Nice Kicks reports a Puma rep said the deal is a go when asked about it at Agenda Las Vegas.

Kris is not the only member of the Kardashian family who's reportedly had enough of Kanye running his mouth. Even his own wife Kim Kardashian, the queen of self-promotion, thinks he is taking things too far with his Twitter rampages.

Chuck's return to Supernatural signals the emergence of God may be imminent

More: Supernatural’s Sam must kill Amara, if he wants to save Dean

The ins and outs of Chuck's story line are being kept under wraps, but seeing as Season 11 has heavily focused on The Darkness (aka Amara) and the fact that she is God's sister, well, Chuck may very well be returning as God. If that's the case, then Amara had better watch her back, because God appears to hold the key in how to destroy The Darkness once and for all.

Ever since Chuck disappeared in the Season 5 finale, fans have wondered if Prophet Chuck is now God. No one has ever confirmed or denied the theories, but now that Season 11 has heavily discussed God and his relationship with Amara, it definitely seems likely.

Even Supernatural favorite Richard Speight Jr. (Gabriel/The Trickster) confessed to SheKnows how much he'd love to see Benedict as God. "Listen, I love where they’re going with this story line, and I know how they planted that seed that God is sort of the answer to this problem [with The Darkness]," Speight revealed in December 2015. "I know the 'Chuck is God theory,' which certainly I believe."

If Chuck isn't God, then maybe he'll just show up to help out Sam and Dean. It wouldn't be the first time he's popped up out of nowhere. During the 200th episode, Benedict made a surprise cameo at the very end of the episode. For those who don't recall, he was the "publisher" who came to see the Supernatural high school musical.

It doesn't really matter whoever Benedict shows up as, because it's always wonderful when a fan favorite returns to Supernatural. But really, here's hoping he's God, because his emergence is long overdue.

7 facts about Samantha Bee and her unapologetic late-night show

$
0
0

1. It's as political — and as hilarious — as The Daily Show

Looking for insightful yet funny commentary on Donald Trump, Bernie Sanders and all the other key players this primary season? Full Frontal's got you covered. There aren't any filler segments here. And Bee doesn't go for the easy laugh, either — it pays to be a political junkie (or at least someone capable of following the election on Twitter) to get the most out of Full Frontal.

2. You'll never see Bee sitting behind a desk

When I first tuned in to Full Frontal, the set caught my eye right away. And then I realized what it was: There's no desk. Or chairs. There's not even a table! The only piece of furniture you will notice is a block depicting the title of the show, and occasionally Bee will walk over to it and rest her hands or body against it. Otherwise, she spends the entire show standing, walking around and embracing the physicality of the space. She's a very energetic and engaging host to watch, and I assume the lack of the traditional desk format has a lot to do with that.

More: Samantha Bee wants us to name our lady parts after Harry Potter (VIDEO)

3. Full Frontal's writing staff is one of the most diverse in late night

When Bee spoke to New York Magazine last month, she revealed that her writing staff is as diverse as it is talented. Fifty percent of the writers are women, while 30 percent are people of color. For an industry filled mostly by white guys, this is an impressive feat.

Bee's not patting herself on the back, though. She just sees this as the work that needed to be done. “There’s a lot of people sitting around in rooms discussing how to make it happen as opposed to just, like, doing it,” she said in the interview. “Asking: ‘Do you have any 45-year-old-woman friends who you think are really talented who could submit an application to us?’ ‘Do you have any black friends who are great writers who haven’t had a shot?’”

4. Bee's famous field segments are back

Fans of her work on The Daily Show know that Bee's not the type to stick in the studio every episode. She likes being out in the field, interviewing people where they live and work. She did that frequently on Comedy Central and she's doing it again now, perhaps in an even bolder way than she was able to as a Daily Show correspondent. Just check out her Full Frontal segment on the Syrian refugee crisis, which took her all the way to Jordan.

5. Don't expect many celebrity interviews

In the first two weeks of Full Frontal, Bee hasn't brought on any guests for interviews. The show is still so new that it's possible that could change, but given the politically driven focus and the lack of a desk and chairs, it's doubtful that Full Frontal is going to be a show where celebrities go to promote their latest movies.

6. The show's Rape Threatline is a genius act of trolling the trolls

Being a woman on television is a brave and risky act. There are lots of people who wish that women like Bee would keep their opinions to themselves, and some of those people react through violent, aggressive speech. So Bee beat them to the punch and created a rape threat phone line. Yes, really.

According to BuzzFeed, if you call 1-844-4-TROLLZ, this is the recording you'll hear:

"Hello, you have reached the Samantha Bee Rape Threatline. Nobody’s here to answer your call, but your offer of non-consensual sex is important to us, so please select from the following menu. To tell me I’m a dumb bitch that needs to be raped, press 1. To tell me you’re going to violate every hole in my idiot libtard body, press 2. To tell me that you’re going to do it slowly and painfully, but that a slut like me will probably like it, press 3. To tell me you wouldn’t even rape me because of how old and disgusting I am, press 4. Or to simply shriek the word rape repeatedly, press 5. For all other menacing remarks meant to intimidate me through the threat of sexual violence, press 0. Thank you for your call."

More: Who Samantha Bee is and why she's going to outshine late-night's male hosts

7. Full Frontal is a weekly, not nightly, show

Excited to watch Full Frontal four nights a week like all the other late night shows? Maybe next season — this first season, the show is Monday nights only. While this means you'll have to wait longer than usual to get your next Sam Bee fix, it probably also means that the writing will stay fresh and sharp for longer than if new episodes had to be cranked out every night.

Haven't tuned in yet? Don't delay! Check out Full Frontal with Samantha Bee at 10:30/9:30c every Monday night on TBS.

Located in Toronto's Union Station, the store appeals to customers who are looking for their daily injection of caffeine without having to stand in line for ages. According to The Star, Toronto's station sees around 250,000 commuters a day, and Starbucks is readily responding to the huge demand for coffee by offering a more streamlined service that cuts the wait time in half.

"The express store takes what is best about our cafés and refines it for faster service for our on-the-go customers," Starbucks Canada president Rossann Williams told the publication on Tuesday.

She added that the "walk-through" experience has been designed to "seamlessly integrate technology and efficiency into the customer experience, reducing the amount of time they need to stand in line" — anyone who has ever stood in line in a regular Starbucks knows how time-consuming this can be.

The 400-square-foot venue is designed for efficiency and will have no seating, and in a bid to save time, an employee will take orders in the line before you get to the counter, and the order will be sent electronically to the barista. The menu will feature only its most popular items, such as brewed coffee and lattes — so you can still get your caffeine fix while you stumble blurry eyed to the train in the morning.

The store is the third of its kind following the opening of the pilot store in New York City just across from the New York Stock Exchange, and thanks to the success of the first, a second express location was opened at the Empire State Building. The new store concept is an attempt by Starbucks to re-create its image, appeal to a wider market and evolve to meet its customers’ varying needs.

The new Union Station store in Toronto will be open from 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday to Friday, and from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the weekends.

Jill & Jessa Duggar featured on kinky, NSFW site

The Hollywood Gossip dug up the entries for Jill and Jessa Duggar on wikiFeet, a "collaborative celebrity feet website" that's presumably for foot fetishists. Anna Duggar is also searchable, says the site, but Jill and Jessa seem to be far more popular. According to the blog, "The sisters were reportedly shocked to learn that they're featured on a site called wikiFeet."

The NSFW tone of the site would certainly contribute to any discomfort the Duggars, who make no secret of their conservative Christian lifestyle, may have with this latest bit of publicity. "Her feet and toes are beautiful, everything is in proper proportion," said one commenter. Ugh.

As Uproxx has reported, when you sort images of a female celebrity by popularity on Getty, an image of her feet sometimes comes up first.

In a hilarious installment of The Tonight Show this week, Jimmy Fallon dusted off his Trump wig and came together with the Fuller House gang to send a message of self-confidence, love and making America great again.

The skit opens with Fallon as Trump awakening from a night terror and screaming for his dad in a very Trumpish manner. Enter Bob Saget — aka Danny Tanner, the most beloved TV dad ever — much to the audience's pleasure.

"Donald! What's wrong, honey?" asks Danny, to which Trump answers, "I'm just sad."

Cue the infamous Full House dramatic orchestral arrangement here.

"Look, I know I won in New Hampshire, my numbers were huge, but I'm afraid if I don't win the nomination, everyone will say I'm a loser," The Donald says.

"Donald, I know winning is very important to you, but sometimes, it's OK to lose. Right, guys?" answers Danny, as Uncle Jesse (John Stamos) and Uncle Joey (Dave Coulier) enter the room to give a pep talk about believing in yourself even through failure, followed closely by the entrance of D.J. Tanner (Candace Cameron Bure), Stephanie Tanner (Jodie Sweetin), Aunt Becky (Lori Loughlin) and Kimmy Gibbler (Andrea Barber).

The rest of the skit is filled with properly placed Full House catch phrases and Trumpisms.

After Trump comes up with the idea to erect a wall around the Tanner house to keep the pesky Gibbler away, the cast jumps on the opportunity to make a statement about the real Trump's stance on immigration.

"Yeah, Donald, just because Kimmy isn't technically part of the family, doesn't mean that we shouldn't treat her like one," says D.J.

"Yeah, you know, even if she did once pierce my ears with an infected needle, we love her," interjects Stephanie as the trio melts into a heartwarming embrace.

"You see, Donald, that's just it," adds Uncle Jesse. "If you really want to make America great again, you have to bring people together, not push them apart. We may have our disagreements from time to time, but at the end of the day, we all love each other. That's what family is about and, gosh darn it, that's what America is about."

Besides the amazing Trump impersonation by Fallon, the bashing of Trump's outlandish thoughts on immigration and the emergence of the Full House cast all together on the small screen for the first time in eons, the skit is also hilarious because of the implication that Trump is, in fact, afraid of losing, which is the underlying factor behind his braggadocio.

Fonda, star of such films as Coming Home, Klute, On Golden Pond and Barbarella, recently revealed that she was emotionally abused as a child and it directly affected how she felt about her body.

"I wish Girls had been out there when I was a young girl. That would have changed everything," she said during a conversation with actress Lena Dunham for Paper magazine.

"I grew up with massive body image [issues] — my father made me feel that I was fat and unattractive and I don't think he realized how destructive it was," she explained.

In the past, Fonda has openly discussed the emotional abuse she suffered at the hands of her ex-husband, political activist Tom Hayden, who she says in her 2011 autobiography belittled her and her success.

"No one person deserves that much attention," he said in an interview with Barbara Walters. He also insisted they be referred to as "Tom and Jane" in the press, not "Jane and Tom," to avoid appearing inferior to her.

"I simply didn't think my ideas or feelings were as important or credible as his," she said.

But Fonda seems to have moved on admirably. She currently stars in Grace and Frankie with Lily Tomlin — just confirmed for a third season — and enjoys what by all appearances is a happy and emotionally healthy relationship with boyfriend Richard Perry.

8-year-old boy handcuffed at school after emotional outburst

Belton ISD superintendent Dr. Susan Kincannon has since apologized, stating it is not typically district practice to call the police on unruly elementary students. The boy reportedly was having an emotional crisis. He is alleged to have thrown chairs and struck staff members and was inconsolable during that time.

More: Chilling video of teacher shaming first-grader surfaces

The officer and staff were concerned the student might have harmed either himself or someone else, so he was placed in restraints until a parent arrived in order to protect him and others. The district is looking into the incident and working with the Belton ISD in order to figure out what might be the best way to deal with students facing a similar emotional crisis.

Unfortunately, we are living in a time where a police presence and school security are sometimes necessary precautions taken by many schools. The question is how much and when we need police in our schools. Though it is unclear whether the officer in question in this story was an actual school resource officer (SRO), there are thousands of SROs stationed in schools throughout America. According to the National Center for Educational Statistics, in the 2013–14 academic year there were 46,000 full-time and 36,000 part-time officers working in the school systems in America.

Early interactions between police and children can be impactful not only when it comes to a child's immediate health and safety but in setting the tone for his or her relationship with law enforcement officials for life. As parents, it's our job to understand the policies of our children's individual schools, how discipline might be carried out in a potential behavioral incident and at what point police would become involved.

This case in Texas is not the first time a child has been handcuffed in school, and there are many experts who believe handcuffing children is not only traumatic but in some cases illegal. These incidents raise questions as to whether episodes that might have previously been handled by the school's regular staff are being blown out of proportion and, as a result, causing semi-traumatic experiences for children. Ultimately, the question arises if there is ever a case in which a child should be handcuffed.

One would assume the outburst of a second grader might be easily contained, and we have to wonder how this situation escalated so much in the first place. As parents, we want our children to be safe in school (and always, obviously), and we need to work with educators to understand how the policies in place support kids' safety and well-being.

More: Yolanda Foster's fans applaud her unwavering positivity (PHOTO)

The first of those? Her name.

The The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Foster appeared on Watch What Happens Live to dish to host Andy Cohen all about the recent drama in her life, including her illness and how she's enjoying the single life so far.

"I don’t know. I haven't tried it yet," Foster said in answer to a question about being single. "I’m still at home trying to get well."

But the one big change she has made already is reverting back to the last name Hadid, and dropping Foster altogether.

"I talked about it with the kids," she said. "I never dropped the name Hadid, because I have three children with that last name, and I asked the kids, 'Should I go back to van den Herik?' and they said, 'No! You're our mommy and we have the same last name.’"

Even while Foster is recovering from her illness, she's maintaining her feud with fellow housewife Lisa Rinna. Rinna, who has accused Foster of having Munchhausen's, refused to reveal her source for that information. But Cohen revealed to Foster on WWHL that the rumor originated with Rinna's hairdresser.

"Are you going to listen to what the hairdresser says if you're my friend?" Foster said in response. "You should go to the hairdresser and go, 'Are you crazy?'"

Still, Foster has remained friends with some of the other housewives, namely Kim Richards and Brandi Glanville.

"They're great," she said. "Of the whole group, these are the two who deal with the most trouble in their life and they have the most compassion about my journey."

More: Nick Viall's comments about the new Bachelor will earn fans respect

We don't know who takes home the final rose on The Bachelor Season 20, but apparently, the lady who came off second-best has found a happy ending with Viall — and she has to be either Lauren Bushnell, Amanda Stanton, JoJo Fletcher or Caila Quinn, as these are the women who have made it to the final four.

"They started seeing each other a couple weeks ago," a source revealed to InTouch magazine.

And perhaps if things go well between Viall and the mystery lady, one of them may decide to relocate, because they are reportedly doing long-distance dating at the moment.

More: The Bachelor rumor reveals Ben Higgins' huge finale dilemma

"They live in different states, so they've been meeting up in LA," the source told the publication, adding that Viall was the one who initiated conversation and began "hitting up the runner-up" after watching her on the show.

"Ben probably won't be surprised when he finds out," adds the source. "It's typical Nick behavior."

We did a little Instagram stalking research of Viall, but he is not giving away any hints as to who the new woman in his life could be. So, if the rumors are true, guess we will have to wait for Higgins' season to wrap up before we finally find out who she is.

Man claims he has the right to change in women's locker room

According to pool employees, the man went into the women's locker room wearing board shorts and took off his shirt. Staff noted that they rely both on physical appearance and verbal confirmation of gender, but this man offered neither and just said the new rule allowed him to be there. It seems clear from the information provided that this individual was attempting to use this new ruling incorrectly, perhaps to prove a point (but what?) or rile up people who were already against it.

More: What does being 'ladylike' mean when you're a feminist?

The recent rule, which was put in place to allow patrons of parks and rec departments to feel comfortable while changing. There is also a matter of safety at stake. Transgender individuals — who benefit from more inclusive rules like this — have a high rate of harassment. According to Lambda Legal, over 50 percent of transgender people have reported being harassed or disrespected in "a place of public accommodation."

A transgender woman should not be forced to change in a men's locker room. Not only is it inappropriate but, as Lambda Legal noted, she runs the risk of harassment or worse. Washington's new rule would allow individuals to use the bathroom or changing room that fits their gender identity. But this wasn't the case at Evans Pool.

More: 11 Social media mistakes so bad they got people fired

This man's "protest" just ends up hurting the greater good rather than doing anything productive. Among the fears that those against the new rule have brought up is that it will invite voyeurs. These awful misconceptions don't help anyone and just further stigmatize those who will benefit.

According to experts, allowing people to use the bathroom or locker room that matches their gender identity, in fact, does NOT increase the risk of voyeurs or sexual predators, and the notion that it does continues to be debunked. Areas that have allowed similar rulings have not seen any increase in these types of behaviors.

Unfortunately, this man has chosen to make a statement that, in fact, only reflects poorly on him. In a time when transgender individuals face harassment and assault at high rates, we should be working on better ways to be inclusive and accommodating. Instead of turning back toward the dark ages (ahem, looking at you, South Dakota), we should be evolving to a point where everyone feels safe, comfortable and respected.

Cooking with mushrooms: Everything you need to know (INFOGRAPHIC)

Selecting mushrooms

In general, when selecting mushrooms, look for specimens that are fresh, firm and dry. Soggy or spongy mushrooms may be on the way out. You should also avoid mushrooms with bruises or spots. If they have gills, as in the case of button mushrooms, the gills should be closed tightly.

Storing mushrooms

When you get them home, store all but morels unwashed in either their original packaging or something that lets them breathe, like a paper bag (never plastic). They can be stored in the fridge for a couple of days.

Cleaning mushrooms

Contrary to myth, you can clean mushrooms with water without making them soggy. Cut off a thin slice of the stem end, and then rinse in cool water to remove any dirt or insects. Alternatively you can use a damp paper towel to remove any dirt and debris.

Safety of raw mushrooms

Some people fear eating raw mushrooms because they believe them to be toxic. While mushrooms do contain a small amount of a toxin called agaritine, it's only toxic if you eat a large quantity of it. Heating and refrigerating mushrooms break down the toxin. Even so, eating moderate quantities of raw mushrooms purchased from the grocery store is perfectly safe for most people.
