Why gender bending names are more than just a trend

$

0

But maybe Sara decided that was enough. She would put an end to this gender-ambiguous naming trend in her family. Aside from having a more traditional girl's name, she was also the only one in a family of artists who chose a career in business.

Instinctively, she may have known that the name you are saddled with is going to predict how your entire life will turn out, and science has proven that to be the case.

How your name affects who you become

A 2005 study found that girls with boys' names did better at "boy things" like math, science and sports. It's not because they were naturally better at those activities, but because teachers treated them differently and encouraged them differently than more traditionally named girls. They were favored, if you will, and therefore given more opportunity to excel in those areas.

Conversely, the study also found that girls with more feminine names excelled at more conventionally feminine subjects, like writing and the arts, for the same reasons.

There is no question that our identity is shaped by the way we are treated by others. Social psychologists call it the "looking glass self," and 50 years of research shows that our name is the one key factor that can predict how others will react to us. A girl named Hunter is expected to be a beautiful, wild extrovert, while it's OK for a girl named Emma to be smart, stable and shy.

Achievement is key if you have a boy name for a girl. Psychologist and author Richard Zweigenhaft Ph.D. found that oddly-named women are more likely to find themselves in books like the Who's Who. New York University professor Dalton Conley agrees. He says that "Girls with unusual names may learn impulse control because they may be teased or get used to people asking about their names. They actually benefit from that experience by learning to control their emotions or their impulses, which is of course a great skill for success."

While all of that is probably true, I would add that parenting and the environment an oddly-named girl grows up in probably shapes most of her goals, her identity and how likely her parents are to support whatever it is she chooses to do. That wide breadth probably has a lot more to do with the outcome of her life than just her name. Simply due to the fact that the kind of parent who chooses an odd name for their girl is probably going to do some pretty radical parenting.

However, the news isn't all good for women with male names. In an extensive study, economist Gregory Clark found that it's more likely an Anna or an Eleanor will attend an Ivy League-level school than a girl named Maxwell (sorry, Jessica Simpson). Specifically, he says that an Eleanor is 100 times more likely to go to Oxford than a Jordan.

Here's why you'll see more of this trend

Once the gender-bending naming trend thing gets going, it's a moving freight train. You either get on board or you get out of the way. Pop culture seems to dictate that, since the "pop" part stands for "popular." It is inevitable when a cultural item's popularity begins to build.

A study out of the University of Pennsylvania says a name's popularity is influenced by the previous year's events, and that names are more likely to become popular when similar names have been popular recently. In other words, don't be shocked if you start to see little girls named North (Kim Kardashian), Wyatt (Mila Kunis), Marlowe (Eva Amurri), Royal (Lil' Kim), Frankie (Drew Barrymore) or Alijah (Kendra Wilkinson) pop up in 2016.

It's already happening. A recent story about a mom in Michigan who thought she was giving birth to a girl, who she was going to name Charlee, instead gave birth to a boy who she named Bentley. Why didn't she just keep the name Charlee? It's obviously a boy's name. She already has a daughter named Peyton, so she's clearly on the gender-bending naming trend train.

Maybe moms just want more for their daughters

There is a part of me that feels this trend is just a reaction to women living in a male-dominated society. We keep hearing that women earn 78 cents for every dollar that men do, without accounting for education and experience. This is true even in female-dominated fields, like nursing, where men still earn more money! ($5,100 on average)

I understand that feminism is no longer about which gender is superior, but that we are all equals with equal rights socially, politically and sexually.

But there is a part of me that wonders about the motives of a mom who chooses a male name for her precious, perfect, sweet little baby girl. Is she just throwing her hands up and saying, "uncle," "I give," "I know there's a vagina here, but those don't seem to fare as well in this world, so let me call her Noah or Evan... or Cooper."

These Equal Pay Day numbers are truly shocking and unfair

$

Today, April 14, marks how many additional days a woman would have needed to work in 2014 to earn the same as her male colleagues last year. To put it another way, it only took 365 days for a man to earn what it would take you 469 days to earn thanks to the wage gap of about 22 cents an hour.

That sucks so hard.

Women get a lot of lip service about closing the wage gap, but there's been little progress. Over the past 50 years, the U.S. Department of Labor reports the wage gap has closed by only 19 percent.

equal pay gif

Image: Giphy

Congress could close the gap today once and for all with legislation demanding parity in pay for the sexes. Fat chance of that happening anytime soon. It's not that our government doesn't know we aren't being treated fairly; it's just that it doesn't care all that much. But once again, in this year's State of the Union, President Obama gave the ladies the obligatory shout-out.

"Congress still needs to pass a law that makes sure a woman is paid the same as a man for doing the same work," Obama said. "It's 2015. It's time."

Yeah, it is time, and we're waiting.

Here are a few numbers to help you wrap your head around the issue:

2058

At our current rate of progress, women and men won't reach parity in pay until 2058. How many of us will still be in the workforce in 2058?

$10,000

That's the average difference between what the sexes earn on average each year. Women earn about $38,000, while men earn about $48,000. What would you buy with an extra $10,000? A vacay? Better schools for your kids? A nicer house? Would you go back to school? That's $10,000 every year. Stats show the average woman retires at age 62 in the U.S. So if a chick started in the workforce full time at 22, that's a whopping extra $400,000 men will earn over the same career, on average. Nearly half a million dollars.

2.2

Men are 2.2 times more likely to work in high-paying STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics). Women instead tend to take on lower-paying careers, where there is still a pervasive wage gap. For instance, according to the U.S. Department of Labor, 81 percent of all elementary and middle school teachers are women, and yet they still earn an average of $937 per week compared to a man in the same profession, who earns an average of $1,025 per week. So here, women get slapped with a double whammy — they take on lower-paying jobs in higher numbers, and yet they still earn less than men in the same job.

40 percent

That's the percentage of U.S. households with children that rely on a woman as the sole or primary breadwinner. That means nearly half of kids in the United States have fewer resources than they should as a result of the wage gap.

$10 vs. $60

This is the amount Sarah Silverman got paid versus her fellow stand-up Todd Barry for back-to-back gigs at the same club. Here's her story and what she thinks we need to do about it.

Sarah Silverman #Ask4More

Sarah Silverman #Ask4More

So what can we do?

  1. Demand national wage fairness legislation, and vote for candidates who support equal pay.
  2. Talk about wage disparity openly, because it's not a secret. Anyone else remember Patricia Arquette's Oscar's speech?
  3. Encourage our girls to pursue high-paying, high-satisfaction jobs in STEM and other fields in which women are underrepresented.
  4. Ask for what you're worth. Ask for a raise, become a tough negotiator on your own behalf, and challenge your employers when you find out you're being paid less than your male colleagues. Sarah Silverman and Charlize Theron are two high-profile women leading the charge.

Unfortunately I am not here to tell you that this magical glass — aka the ultimate beer hack — has become a reality:

If it did, I would be in serious trouble.

While I wait patiently for brew-loving iPhone geniuses to invent it, I will amuse myself with other amazing beer hacks. For instance, did you know that there's a super-weird way to abolish the excess foam from your pint? Spoiler alert: It involves the oil from your nose and might have to be one of those things I try after several beers.

beer hacks

beer hacks

Also addressed are two of the most common beer woes: 1) warm beer, 2) no bottle opener. Sure, you can wait patiently while your beer chills in the fridge, but no opener poses the real problem. Try as I might, I've never been able to successfully master the art of opening a beer with a lighter or smacking it on the edge of the table. Well, I have new hope, both for ultra-fast chilling and bottle opener alternatives.

Check out these tricks, and amaze your friends next time the party hits a lull. But know your audience... They might not want your nose oil in their beer.

Man pretends to be in army to pick up women (VIDEO)

Eric Coins caught the confrontation with the man pretending to be in the military below. It's astounding. See for yourself:

military man

military man

It's hard enough to trust the things men say without having video evidence that they are, in fact, capable of pretty massive lies just to pick us up. And apparently he is not the first guy to try something like this.

"Stolen valor" is actually a thing, and Coins has multiple videos to prove it. But as women on the dating scene, it's an important to reminder. You can't believe what men tell you. Whether it's about their STD testing, their prowess in bed or their career. We need to be careful.

More: 7 Signs he said 'I love you' too soon

There really is something so inherently offensive in the idea of a man thinking he has to make up things to get into our pants. And even more offensive is the fact that he would steal a military title to do so. Guess what, guys: We don't need you to be heroes. We don't need you to do anything at all. Just be yourselves, and maybe we'll like you. Or maybe we won't. But one thing I can guarantee no woman likes? Dishonesty.

More: 5 Ways men say 'I love you' without actually saying it

So if a man comes up to you in a bar and starts telling you all about his heroic deeds, think twice before believing him. Sadly, we women have to be careful and look out for one another in this regard. Liars gonna lie, I guess. We just need to be two steps ahead.

The model revealed she'd checked into Malibu's SOBA Recovery Center for two weeks to "lay pretty low for a bit and maybe get some frozen yogurt."

The Girls star partnered with the Center for Reproductive Rights' Draw the Line campaign to support women and their families while making their own medical decisions to terminate a pregnancy, and ending legislation aimed at blocking access to basic women's healthcare.

In a poignant video for the group, Kirke shared the story of her own abortion, and it's one many women can relate to: She was in college when she unexpectedly discovered she was pregnant and chose to have an abortion, but could barely afford it — so the procedure became much more physically taxing than it needed to be.

"Because I couldn't tell my mother that I was pregnant, I had to pay for it out of pocket. I had to empty my checking account and get some from my boyfriend," she said. "I realized that if I didn't take the anesthesia, I would be able to afford to do this. The anesthesia wasn't that much more, but when you're scrounging for however many hundreds of dollars, it's a lot."

The actress now has three children, and does not regret her decision. "My life was just not conducive to raising a happy, healthy child," she said.

Kirke's story begs the question: If a woman can barely afford to terminate her pregnancy, how on earth would she ever be able to afford the expense of raising a child without public assistance?

"Jemima Kirke's deeply moving and personal story highlights the role that shame and stigma play in preventing women from seeking the health care that is best for themselves and their families," said Nancy Northup, president and CEO of the Center for Reproductive Rights, in a press release. "Many women like Jemima will also forgo the health care that is best for them simply because they are unable to afford it."

"Instead of passing sham restrictions that only hurt women's health and chip away at access to critical health care, it is time to focus on stories like Jemima's and advocate for policies which truly support women and their families. Whether they live in New York, Texas or Mississippi, all women are entitled to make the best decisions for their lives, their health and their futures."

According to the Guttmacher Institute, three out of 10 women will have an abortion in their lifetimes and the majority — approximately 58 percent as of 2008 — are in their 20s, 85 percent are unmarried and 33 percent had no health insurance.

Why you must read the Baileys Women's Prize shortlist books

Started in 1996, the Women's Prize "celebrates excellence, originality and accessibility in women's writing from throughout the world." The 2005 longlist included 20 books, which had to be whittled down to just six for the shortlist, announced last night.

More: Baileys women's prize for fiction shortlist announced

The 2015 list includes five previously shortlisted authors (talk about talented!) and one debut, who, I imagine, has exploded due to sheer honor and shock. As women, we like to support other women, which means reading their books. So what's so special about the six chosen this year? Well, let me tell you.

Outline by Rachel Cusk

1. Outline by Rachel Cusk

About the author: She was ballsy enough to document the true story of her marriage and divorce in her memoir, Aftermath: On Marriage and Separation. Talk about a gutsy gal!

About the book: It's about writing and talking. Dull. Or not so much. Outline follows a woman as she travels to a foreign country. The woman's past is indistinct, yet she is soon surrounded by the stories of others as people seek her as a sounding board. The stories of strangers fill the pages until a tapestry is woven of human emotion, fear and love, reminding us all that life is just one big book, and we write the pages.

The Bees by Laline Paull

2. The Bees by Laline Paull

About the author: The Bees is her debut. Her husband and his friend built her a special writing shed in their backyard. She began writing her first novel the day the shed was finished. She also believes honey should be priced like gold.

About the book: The lead characters are bees. Really. In Flora's hive, only the queen may breed, and any deformities at birth means immediate execution. Unlike other worker bees, Flora is curious, which could get her in a lot of trouble. Her strength, though, is an asset, which moves her into close contact with the fearful queen. Soon, Flora's feelings of maternal love threaten the whole hive. How far will a mother go for the love of a child?

A God in Every Stone by Kamila Shamsie

3. A God in Every Stone by Kamila Shamsie

About the author: Writing is literally in her blood. Her mom is a literary journalist and editor. Her aunt is and her grandfather was a writer. Her award nomination résumé is longer than most people's grocery lists.

About the book: It's a romance... sort of. In the early 1900s, two young people meet on a train, unaware their newfound connection will have life-altering implications that will take 15 years to clear up. The story travels the globe, but in the end, reminds each of us that no matter how small the contribution, our lives exist eternal in the chaos of history.

How to Be Both by Ali Smith

4. How to be Both by Ali Smith

About the author: Chronic fatigue syndrome "forced her" to become a writer. She's been with her partner, Sarah Wood, for 17 years and dedicates all her books to her.

About the book: Don't read the book synopsis, because you'll never figure it out. To say "experimental" would be a deviance, since this book is more than that. There's Georgia, who lives in the 1960s, and Francesco, who lives in the 1460s, and they're connected by a fresco. Depending on which copy you order, one book starts with Georgia's story, the other with Francesco's. See how lives intertwine across the bridge of time.

More: The Stella Prize shortlist brings much-deserved attention to women writers

A Spool of Blue Threat by Anne Tyler

5. A Spool of Blue Thread by Anne Tyler

About the author: She graduated from Duke at age 19 before heading to Columbia to study Russian. She's not smart or anything...

About the book: Abby Whitshank and Red are in love, but nothing's simple. They're both getting older, and they need to figure out what to do with the Whitshank family home. So begins a reunion that traverses time and unwinds the truth of a whole band of long-lost relatives. We all think our families are special, and this book proves it.

The Paying Guest by Sarah Waters

6. The Paying Guests by Sarah Waters

About the author: Every novel she's written has been up for several very prestigious awards. They've also all been turned into movies, TV shows or plays.

About the book: In 1922 London, everyone's tense. People are starving, and many still mourn the loss of loved ones due to war. At their genteel South London villa, Mrs. Wray and her daughter Frances are forced to take in lodgers to make ends meet. Little do they know the modern young couple they welcome will shake up their lives forever, awaken passion and destroy everything.

Now, time to get reading. The official Baileys Women's Prize for Fiction will be announced June 3.

The not-so-tiny tot is actually a record-breaking baby for being the longest baby born at the hospital. Born two weeks overdue, he weighed 9 pounds and 3 ounces, and measured 23 inches long. He looks adorable as he hams it up in sunglasses in this new photo that was posted on their website, The Dillards Derick & Jill.

On his Instagram page, Derick also shared a photo of them as they left the hospital, with Mom Jill in a wheelchair and Israel strapped securely in his car seat. The couple had been planning on a natural home birth, but because Israel was overdue, they had to change their plans and deliver him at the hospital. "Not everything went as expected," Jill explained in a video clip announcing his birth. "So we were reminded of the verse that the bible talks about where 'man plans his way, but the Lord drags his steps.' We were encouraged by that. He's just a handsome little fella."

Derick posted this photo along with a bible verse discussing the "anguish" of childbirth that turns into joy after seeing your baby. "I feel like I can relate to this verse just a little better now after being with my wife in labor, but then experiencing the joy of our son!" he captioned the photo.

On the 19 Kids and Counting Facebook page, the couple shared some sweet photos shortly after Israel was born.

Though performing is the ultimate dream job to many, that doesn't meant that being on-set is all rainbows and butterflies. Like any workplace on earth, things go wrong and employees have differences that cause unexpected situations to arise. Additionally, there's often a lot at stake for a Hollywood production, so tension runs high, people are emotional and, yes, egos can be tested. All which can be the perfect storm for a major on-set freak out, as exemplified in the recent recording of Dennis Quaid's antics gone viral. (Caution: Audio in the videos below are NSFW due to profanity.)

Quaid's little tirade is now rumored to be a publicity stunt, according to TMZ, but the rest of these celebrity incidents, though extremely entertaining, are all too real. Can you imagine what would happen to one of us if we pulled something like this at work?

If you felt bad at all for Russell as Tomlin unloaded on him in the above footage, this video will remedy that. We still feel pretty bad for poor Hoffman and Jason Schwartzman, who looks pretty uncomfortable as he cowers in a chair as Russell goes through his violent outburst. It must have been a blast to be on the crew of I Heart Huckabees!

Russell often casts Jennifer Lawrence in his films and always speaks highly of the actress, but that doesn't mean he treats her kindly during production. He reportedly lost it on Lawrence earlier this year while shooting the upcoming film and began screaming and spewing profanity at her because the two didn't see eye-to-eye on a scene. He also barred the movie's producer, Harvey Weinstein, from visiting Lawrence on set that same day.

The "Umbrella" singer is partying at the music festival and was caught on tape doing what some fans are calling a boatload of cocaine — but the star angrily denied it.

The video shows Rihanna holding what looks like a thin, white tube in her hand. The camera pans away for a moment, and when it comes back to the singer she is wiping her nose.

7 Tax Day questions that will save moms more money

$
0
0

Below are a few questions I commonly receive, along with explanations and links to further guidance on each topic. I hope this Q&A helps many families navigate the murky tax law waters on Tax Day 2015.

1. What tax credits, deductions and exemptions am I entitled to the year my baby is born?

There are six primary tax benefits of having children that every parent should know. These include the dependent care exemption, the child tax credit, a credit for child care expenses and the earned income credit. Depending on your work and tax situation, you may also be eligible for the medical expense deduction and reimbursements from a flex spending account. Learn more about new baby tax benefits.

2. I put my child in day care so I can work. Are those day care payments deductible?

Yes!* You claim these expenses on IRS Form 2441 for a dependent under the age of 13 (or a child for whom you were a custodian, in cases of divorce). If an individual took care of your children instead of a day care, then you will need to get the provider's social security number to report to the IRS on Form 2441. If it was a business, then you'll need an employer identification number. Note: If you took advantage of a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) offered by your employer, you will have made pre-tax contributions out of each paycheck into that account. To get that money back (and take advantage of the tax savings), you will need to submit for reimbursement from your FSA.

3. Does sending my child to a summer day camp qualify as a child care expense?

Yep!* According to the IRS, summer camp costs are a reasonable child care expense; however, overnight camps are excluded. For the nitty-gritty details and to verify the tax implications of your situation, IRS Publication 503 is what you'll want to review.

4. Can you still file a paper tax return?

Yes! All of the popular tax preparation software programs give you the option to print out filing copies of your federal and state tax returns. Many people simply do this for record keeping, but others do it so they can sign and mail the actual forms to the government. Just make sure you choose "everything needed for filing" or a similar printing option within the software. Otherwise, all the required forms may not print out. If you want to go really old school, you can even download the current year tax forms from the Forms and Publications section of IRS.gov and prepare your returns by hand. Now that's what I call intense! If you do that, make sure to grab all the accompanying instructions from the website as well. You'll need the detailed instructions and worksheets to calculate every line properly. Current year tax forms are usually available by late December of the tax year in question (so 2014 tax return forms were available in December 2014 in time for filing in early 2015).

5. What are the tax benefits of opening up a 529 college account for my child?

As parents, we know the cost of a single college education is pricey! For a child born today, some estimates have a four-year public education at nearly $200,000. Section 529 college savings accounts, which first appeared in 1996, are one way to offset the cost of higher education. The premise is simple; you contribute after tax dollars to an investment account designated for college, and when you withdraw the money to pay for qualified college expenses, any accumulated earnings on those investments are not taxed. These accounts are state run and most states offer a state income tax deduction (usually $5,000 per individual or $10,000 for married filing jointly) for 529 contributions you make during the calendar year. To learn more about what expenses are eligible for 529 plan reimbursement, see IRS Publication 970. Look for the term "Qualified Tuition Program," which is the official term for 529 plans.

6. How much does it cost to get your taxes prepared by a CPA?

These rates will vary by location and the complexity of your return, but you can generally expect to pay a CPA at least $200 to prepare your return. Additional schedules beyond your basic Form 1040 plus itemized deductions will cost more.

7. How long can my child be my dependent?

It's no secret that kids these days live at home longer and longer. It's not uncommon for a child to live at home well into their 30s. But just how old can a child be before the IRS stops allowing the parents to claim them on their taxes? The answer: it’s complicated. In general, a dependent must be someone younger than you, unmarried (not filing a joint tax return with someone else) and no older than 19 (or be a student younger than 24). But there are multiple restrictions and exceptions, including an allowance for those who are considered qualifying relatives, regardless of age. All of this is outlined in the lengthy IRS Publication 501. Luckily for you, you can avoid reading that long document by using this handy IRS quiz instead! It will help you determine if the person you want to claim as a dependent is actually qualified.

*A note about income phase outs

Every deduction, credit or exemption mentioned above is only available to families up to a certain level of income. Where the phase out of each tax benefit begins varies, so make sure to read up on each item before claiming it on your tax return.

If you are unsure about your eligibility to claim a tax credit or other tax benefit due to the amount of income you make, it's always wise to consult a tax advisor who knows your particular set of tax circumstances.

Disclaimer: Although I am a tax accountant, I am not your tax accountant. Before relying on any advice on this blog, please consult a CPA who will be able to advise you on your particular set of tax circumstances.

YA LGBT and other book trends you can expect in 2015

YA LGBT lit

book trends collage

That’s a whole lot of initials, and they stand for one of the more noticeable trends in the book world today — one that is helping to inform a pivotal cultural conversation in this country.

Children’s and young adult authors have been taking the lead when it comes to addressing lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender issues in their works.

Becky Albertalli’s Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda, I.W. Gregorio’s None of the Above and Adam Silvera’s upcoming More Happy Than Not are just a few examples of this, and publishers like Interlude Press are launching whole imprints dedicated to representing LGBT characters (Duet) and providing LGBT youth stories they can relate to.

More: 14 LGBT YA books you must read

Adult authors writing for younger readers

book trends collage

This year, popular authors typically associated with writing adult fiction and nonfiction are joining the young adult set, starting with Jodi Picoult, whose Off the Page she penned with an assist from her daughter, Samantha van Leer. The trend continues with Shopaholic series author Sophie Kinsella (Finding Audrey), techno-thriller writer Mark Alpert (The Six) and famed chef Marcus Samuelsson with Make It Messy: My Perfectly Imperfect Life — a YA version of his bestselling adult memoir, Yes, Chef. Let’s hope Stephen King doesn’t get any ideas.

Bad girls

book trends collage

It began with Gillian Flynn’s Gone Girl in 2012 and authors have been picking up the “bad girl” baton ever since. Bad or even just unlikable female protagonists have proved to be very likable indeed, whether it’s Rachel from The Girl on the Train or Anna from Hausfrau, readers can’t seem to get enough of their misdeeds and machinations. And let’s not forget about the badass, especially with the highly anticipated release of The Girl in the Spider’s Web — the next installment in the Millennium series started by the late Stieg Larsson, featuring avenging computer hacker extraordinaire Lisbeth Salander.

Magical realism

book trends collage

Gabriel García Márquez’s One Hundred Years of Solitude, Yann Martel’s Life of Pi, Laura Esquivel’s Like Water for Chocolate: these are just a few of the famous works that come to mind when you hear the term "magical realism" (or maybe the term inspires an eye roll — magical realism has been much debated and maligned in literary circles).

Referring to a fiction genre where magic or the supernatural is introduced into an otherwise non-fantastical narrative, it’s a challenging element to blend into a story and not have it come off, well, hokey. This might explain why many authors hesitate to go there, but that doesn’t seem to be the case in 2015. There is Kelly Link’s wonderfully weird short story collection Get in Trouble, Kirsty Logan’s debut novel The Gracekeepers and the latest release from Magical Realism maven Toni Morrison, God Help the Child.

Which trends will be added to this list? Pick up a book and start one. The year is young.

Alec Baldwin's wife, yoga instructor Hilaria Baldwin, shared this photo of her six-and-a-half-month baby bump in this bikini selfie, writing that she was carrying this baby low, prompting many fans to write that she was probably expecting a baby boy.

Besides yoga, Hilaria shared the secret to her amazing pregnancy shape and stretch mark free skin — and posted all of her favorite creams on her Instagram page.

"I LOVE creams...I have shown you a few here that are in a wide price range so it will appeal to as many as possible on different budgets," she wrote. "Let me say that the most important trick to good skin is diet (some genetics too), but staying hydrated inside and out is extremely important. I moisturize daily (multiple times a day while pregnant), wash my face morning and night, exfoliate in the shower, but mostly try to drink tons of water and eat clean."

She also posted this cute family photo with Alec and their daughter, Carmen.

They are expecting their second child in September and they know the sex, but are keeping it a secret. "I'm not saying it yet, but we're very excited," she told reporters at the movie premiere.

She did reveal that this pregnancy has been easier than the first.

"It could not be more opposite than it was with Vivianne," she told People. "The first time I threw up every day, I was really sick, really exhausted."

"This one, I have more energy and I don't feel as sick, no cravings. The only way I really know I'm pregnant is I feel this bump growing and a baby moving around."
