Kid Rock blasts American Sniper critics

No stranger to controversy, Rock let his fans know exactly where he stands and that is on the side of U.S. Navy Seal Chris Kyle.

Kid Rock took to his website and called out Seth Rogen and Michael Moore on their less than glowing reviews about the No. 1 movie in America about the most deadly sniper in our history, American Sniper.

Rogen wrote:

Moore wrote:

Along with many other music artists and public figures, Rock jumped on the dog pile saying, "F*** you Michael Moore, you're a piece of s*** and your uncle would be ashamed of you. Seth Rogen, your uncle probably molested you. I hope both of you catch a fist to the face soon."

He followed that up by saying, "God bless you Chris Kyle, Thank you for your service [sic]."

Twitter has been freaking out over the negative critics since the comments were made and it doesn't appear to be slowing down given Rock's latest comments.

Sarah Palin, Dean Cain and country artists Craig Morgan and Blake Shelton, amongst others, have all been very vocal about their support for the Clint Eastwood film and about their distaste for Rogen and Moore's comments.

Looks like this one is just heating up and not going to cool down for some time.

7 Hair hacks for when you don't have time to wash it

1. Braids

A simple braid or two is a great way to camouflage dirty hair — it's easy to do and looks gorgeous. Try this "pull thru braid" hair tutorial for one style idea.

2. Dry shampoo

Dry shampoo is your best friend on those unwashed hair days. Nothing quite does the trick of making your hair look clean like this. Spritz it all over your hair, including the roots, and then blow it dry and you'll be amazed at how fresh and pretty it looks. There are so many brands to choose from, but a popular one is Dove's Dry Shampoo (Walmart, $4).

3. Headband

A plain, sparkly or beaded headband does wonders at hiding greasy hair and making it look cute and perky — and it's a style that suits pretty much everyone. (Nordstrom, $28)

4. Run a blow dryer through your dry hair, then style it

Sometimes all it takes to give your hair that just-washed lift is to run a blow dryer through it while it's dry and then style it as usual. That alone can get rid of some of the oil buildup and make it look like you've just stepped out of the shower.

5. Wash and condition only the front and sides of your hair in the sink, then blow dry it

If you're short on time but still have a little to play with, you can streamline your routine by just washing the front and sides of your hair in the sink, then conditioning and blow drying it. It will magically look as if you've washed the whole thing.

6. Baby powder

Sprinkling baby powder on your hands and then running it all through your hair, paying special attention to the roots, the jawline and underneath, will make it instantly look and smell fresher. It will soak up the grease and make it look newly washed. Hurrah!

7. A strategically placed hair clip

Twisting the front of your hair goddess-style and holding it back with a pretty crystal hair clip like this one is a good way to mask the fact that you haven't washed it. (Nordstrom, $28)

7 Ways to save $1K without realizing you're saving money

Don't worry, talking about cash doesn't always have to be depressing. In the age of the internet, there are hundreds of ways to skin a cat, or hundreds of ways to figure out how to make small sacrifices that will yield a major gain.

I'm not talking about the money-saving stuff that everybody already knows: skipping your morning latte, canceling the gym membership that you no longer use and collecting spare change. I'm talking about legitimate life hacks that will turn up some cold, hard cash that you can set aside for a rainy day, or even better, a beach vacation.

With the help of these frugal tricks, you could find yourself $1,000 richer.

1. Buy new work shirts

Nicki Minaj

Image: giphy.com

How could going shopping possibly save you money? Wait for it… One Redditor explains, "Anytime I buy new work clothes now I only buy "no-iron" shirts and dress pants. Sometimes they still might need a light press but nowhere near what normal shirts require. Other than sweaters and wool dress pants, I don't use the dry cleaners anymore. I went from about $50-$60/month to less than $15/month."

Your savings: In a conservative estimate, saving $35 per month will yield $420 by the end of the year.

2. Check out local Facebook groups

Pearl landlord

Image: giphy.com

Facebook Buy Nothing groups let you exchange goods with locals in your area. It's a win-win. You can get rid of gently used items around the house and get a free used bicycle or baby crib in return.

Your savings: Based on eBay estimates, a free used baby crib could save you about $50, though YMMV.

3. Fly Southwest and exchange your tickets

Mariah Carey

Image: giphy.com

As a frequent Southwest flyer, I now know that the airline will allow you to select cheaper flights and exchange one-way tickets within a round trip at any time leading up to your travel date. After keeping a close eye on the ever-changing low fare calendar, I was able to update my plane tickets from Dallas to Denver and earn a credit of $46 by taking an earlier flight.

Your savings: $46, depending on flight availability and season

4. Make your own laundry detergent

Kim Kardashian

Image: giphy.com

No matter how rich or how poor, you still have to do laundry. Large quantities of name-brand detergent could cost you up to $18 at Walmart. DIY laundry detergent could bring expenses down to a dollar per month — with a potential $17 savings per month, depending on family size.

Your savings: $204 per year

5. Renegotiate your car insurance

George Costanza

Image: giphy.com

Here's the quick and dirty truth about car insurance: The squeaky wheel gets the grease. If you don't regularly ask for discounts, you probably won't get them. While discounts will vary by provider, Nationwide advertises a 10-percent discount for five years of safe driving. If you currently pay $100 per month in car insurance (on the higher end, average annual premiums in New Jersey were estimated at $1,244 in 2014), a 10-percent discount could save you $10 per month.

Your savings: $120 per year

6. Stop eating out

Eat money

Image: giphy.com

Before you scoff at this level of self-sacrifice, hear me out. It will only take a one-month restaurant boycott to see results. Another Reddit commenter estimates, "If you're pulling into McD's every weekday for lunch at what, $7 a pop, that's $35 a week. That's $140 a month you spent eating crap food."

Your savings: Up to $140 by dining in for just a month

7. Stream free TV shows

Breaking Bad

Image: giphy.com

I'm a Netflix addict like everyone else with a pulse, but $8 a month adds up. Making the cut for just a year could save you an impressive $96. As an added bonus, most of your favorite shows are probably available for free online — check network websites and third-party sites like Hulu.

Your savings: $96

We predict: Buzz-worthy baby boy names of 2015

$

Hipster names

We are totally crushing over these hipster boy baby names. They are the perfect mixture of vintage charm with a modern twist. Megan Fox named her son the cute hipster name of Bodhi, while Olivia Wilde nailed it with the name Otis. Owen Wilson named his mini-me son Finn, while Pete Wentz picked Saint Lazslo. Tony Romo named his son Rivers, possibly after Weezer's Rivers Cuomo? My favorite hipster name goes to actor Simon Helberg, who named his son Wilder. Here are more names for your pint-sized hipster:

Powerful or strong boy names

Many of today's parents are searching for a boy name that is strong and powerful. Celebrity parents were one of the first to jump on this trend, with Kelly Rowland choosing the name Titus for her son, while Alicia Keys picked the name Genesis for her second son. Gwen Stefani's third son has the masculine name Apollo. Kourtney Kardashian's son's name of Reign is fit for a king.

We predict these strong boy names will rule the chart this year:

  • Legend
  • Maximus
  • Jagger
  • Mack
  • Magnus

Cool short names for boys

If you are looking for a cool name for your baby boy, a short name is the way to go. These names are easy to spell and pronounce and are perfect for your little athlete. Jessica Simpson gave her son the sporty name of Ace, while Poppy Montgomery picked the short and sweet name of Gus. Here are more boy names that are short on syllables, but long on the cool factor:

Western names

Western baby names are totally having a moment, y'all. These names are tough, yet have that boy-next-door charm. To get your own cowboy-inspired boy name, check out the show Nashville, which has the perfect Western names of Gunnar, Deacon and Luke.

Here are a few more Western names we love:

"X" names are totally rock star

Baby boy names that have the letter X in them have a cool, rock star edge to them. Kristin Cavallari jumped on this trend when she named her son Jaxon, as did Fergie and Josh Duhamel with their cute name, Axl.

Here are more edgy names we love:

Mom outraged over 'satanic' pentagram in school bus brake lights

Satan's brake lights

Satan's brake lights

Now if you ask me, pretty much any bus is Satan's school bus if it's in front of me when I'm trying to get somewhere. My kids ride the bus and I understand why each stop needs to be 10 minutes long, but in the throes of a commute I start wondering if the devil is real and if maybe he's inside those red blinking lights and dinky stop sign reflectors.

The outraged mom from Tennessee has chosen to remain anonymous, which seems like a pretty wise idea. Her hysteria is troll-bait. She snapped a picture of brake lights that appear to outline a wee glowing upside-down pentagram. Despite the absence of a goat or any trademarked imagery of the Church of Satan, this mom is crying about Satanists.

"Anyone who fears a God, if not God and Jesus Christ, should be outraged," she says.

Well. I'd argue that anyone who has a child in a public school system has plenty to be outraged or at least slightly outspoken about before worrying about abstract shapes in bus brake lights that only appear if you're being weird and staring at bus brake lights.

The mother likened this situation to Walgreens removing holiday wrapping paper that resembled swastika symbolism. In my opinion, that's an incredibly offensive comparison to make. The swastika is associated with the genocide of millions of people. The pentagram is associated with a handful of religions — including Pagan faiths with gentle beliefs.

Tennessee public schools are currently facing common core controversies, issues surrounding virtual education and controversy around teacher pay. Every one of these topics could use some energy and outrage from parents to get the ball rolling on solutions that benefit kids. Put the brakes on religious hysterics and focus on what children and teachers need to succeed.

Brown butter and herb potato soup is perfect for cold winter days

My favorite things about this soup (besides everything) is that there is a subtle flavor from the herbs, richness from the brown butter and pops of flavor from the hot sauce and bacon bits that are sprinkled on top.

2 herb and potato soup

And it's so easy to make too. A quick sauté, a quick boil, mix in some ingredients and mash it up. A great meal to warm you up from the inside out.

3 herb and potato soup

Brown butter and herb potato soup recipe

Potato soup that starts its life with brown butter and is made with three kinds of fresh herbs gets topped with hot sauce and bits of bacon. It's comfort food that is perfect for cold winter days.

Serves 2

Prep time: 10 minutes | Cook time: 25 minutes | Total time: 35 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 4 medium-size russet potatoes, partially peeled, cubed
  • Water (for boiling potatoes)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt (for boiling potatoes)
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup chopped white or yellow onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped celery
  • 1 large garlic clove, diced
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup half-and-half
  • 2 sprigs rosemary
  • 2 sprigs sage
  • 2 teaspoons finely diced fresh thyme
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 3 teaspoons hot sauce or Tabasco sauce, for garnish
  • 1 tablespoon real bacon bits, for garnish
  • Small sprigs rosemary, sage or thyme, for garnish

Directions:

  1. In a medium-size pot, boil water, and add salt.
  2. Add the potatoes to the boiling water, and let them cook until they start to soften (about 10 minutes).
  3. While the potatoes are cooking, heat a small skillet on low to medium heat, and add the butter, onion and celery. Stir as it cooks, until the butter starts to turn a light, golden color (about 4 minutes), and then add the garlic. Remove from the heat, and set aside for a moment.
  4. When the potatoes are done, drain the water from the pot, leaving just the potatoes in the pot.
  5. Add the brown butter mixture to the potatoes.
  6. Add the broth and the half-and-half to the potatoes, and turn the heat on low to medium heat.
  7. Add the sprigs of rosemary and sage.
  8. Add the thyme, salt and pepper.
  9. Stir as the soup heats.
  10. Once the soup is hot (about 10 to 15 minutes), remove the sprigs of rosemary and sage. Use a potato masher to mash the potatoes to a chunky consistency.
  11. Depending on the size of the potatoes, if the soup is too thick for your liking, then add a bit more liquid. If it's too thin for your liking, then let it warm on low heat a little longer, but be sure to stir as it cooks. The soup tends to thicken up even after dished up in serving bowls.
  12. Serve hot, and garnish with hot sauce, bits of bacon and fresh herbs.

Mindy Kaling does naked yoga for Super Bowl commercial (VIDEO)

The biggest commercial day of the year. We wait for it all football season, the culmination of watching all that football all season, just to finally get to the Super Bowl ads.

OK, so I'm being a bit hyperbolic. I am, admittedly, excited about watching the "Deflategate" scandal continue to unfold and see how people keep losing their minds over it throughout the big game.

But we all know everyone, no matter if your team is playing or not, gets excited about the commercials, too.

And it is about time we got a good teaser to get us all hyped up.

We know there have been years where we've waited for the commercials, just to be royally let down. Well, this year is starting to look promising, thanks to the hilarious Mindy Kaling.

In the commercial, Kaling has the sudden realization that she might actually be invisible. So she does what anyone of us would do: She steals food and does naked yoga in public!

Check it out:

More: How to look like a total badass like Bradley Cooper

The star revealed to Men's Health that to bulk up for his role as Chris Kyle in American Sniper, he had to (obviously) work out a ton... in addition to eating an insane 6,000 calories per day.

According to the mag, he did it with the help of a trainer and a personal chef by eating five meals every day, along with energy bars and pre- and post-workout protein drinks.

"It was a real shock to my body," he dished. "If it's pizza and cake, that's one thing. Putting 6,000 calories a day in your body gets old quick."

But what if it were all pizza and cake? Under the guidance and supervision of a trainer and a personal chef, we're sure Cooper was eating some seriously healthy stuff. But how much junk food could he down with that 6,000-calorie goal in mind?

We decided to investigate how much Cooper could eat each day if he wanted to hit 6,000 calories while eating only junk food (and a couple healthy things for comparison) on the American Sniper diet.

Sibling rivalry gets weird when your kids start dating

$
0
0

I don't think they relate to each other, or maybe it's that my son doesn't have a lot of interest in his little sister, and she's always going to be just that — his little sister, and it bothers her so much. She only wants his acceptance and love.

It's frustrating for me because I want them to have a better relationship. They're a year apart in school — he's a junior and she's a sophomore — and I know she would like more attention and acknowledgment from him, but he's just not that type of kid.

He says he loves her, and that he'd do anything for her, but he's not the showy, caring type of big brother she wishes she had.

Except for when she got a boyfriend.

Then he got all sorts of protective.

"I don't like him," my son said about the boyfriend. "He's just going to use her."

"No he's not," I said. "He's nice to her. He cares about her." And then I threw in the punch. "And what does it matter to you anyway? You don't even like your sister."

"Yes I do. I love her," he told me.

"You have a funny way of showing it. You're not really very nice to her, ever."

When the boyfriend comes around, my older son kind of grunts hello to him, and doesn't go out of his way to be particularly nice to him. My youngest son, who's 13, really likes my daughter's boyfriend and worships his older sister. The three of them get along great. It's interesting how the dynamics have shifted. Now my oldest is kind of on the outs when the boyfriend comes over.

And then, recently, the tables turned. My oldest son started showing interest in a girl from school that we've yet to even meet. They go to the coffee shop to study. They went out to get something to eat. He wants us to meet her.

My daughter overheard all of this.

"I hate her," my daughter said to me.

"Do you know her from school?" I asked her.

"No. But I hate her," she said again.

"Why?"

"Because, she can't date my brother. He's my brother."

"That makes no sense at all. Besides, you have a boyfriend. You're allowed to date. He's allowed to date, too."

"I don't care," she said. "I will never like her."

To recap: My two older kids don't get along very well and could work to have a better relationship. My son doesn't like the boy my daughter dates. My daughter hates the girl my son is interested in maybe dating even though she's never seen her or met her.

Does any of this make any sense at all?

I guess this further backs up my theory that teens are terrible. What am I going to do when all three of them bring home people they intend to marry?

Adorable 7-month-old Grace wins $50K as 2015 Gerber Baby (VIDEO)

Today show

Seven-month-old Grace of East Petersburg, Pennsylvania, really is that cute. If you are wondering what level of cuteness is required to become a real-life Gerber Baby, just take a look at that sweet little mug, and tell me that your heart doesn't burst into a million happy pieces.

It's no wonder that Baby Grace beat out over 180,000 other babies auditioning for the Gerber gig based on her cuteness alone. As the winner of the 5th Annual Be Our Baby Photo Search, Grace was awarded $50,000, a year's supply of Gerber Baby Food and the title of the official 2015 Gerber 'spokesbaby' featured in a Gerber advertisement.

Gerber Baby

For over 80 years, Gerber Baby Food jars featured the oh-so-familiar charcoal sketch of a baby, 5-month-old Ann Turner Cook. Now 87, Cook reigned supreme in this classic drawing as the original Gerber Baby on baby food products since 1928. Five years ago, Gerber announced a photo contest to choose a new Gerber Baby to represent the company.

Clearly, the new Gerber Baby has big shoes to fill. Would it make you feel any better to learn that Baby Grace is a natural? Gabrielle, Grace's mother, recounted how the now-famous snap was taken, "The photo that won was taken only five photos from when I started taking pictures of her that day."

"She must have taken her hands out of her mouth and posed them like that for a split second because I didn't even realize how cute she was posing until after I was completely done taking pictures and looking back at what I had just taken."

Judges of the online Gerber "Be Our Baby" Photo Search 2014 explained that out of all the entries, from newborn to preschool age, they were looking for that certain "it" factor. A baby that had "it" would appear expressive in the photo with a look consistent to Gerber's heritage. Gerber Marketing Specialist Cassie Savage said that it was Grace's "captivating charm" that stole the show.

The judges were right — people just can't get enough of Grace. As one commenter said, "This is epic cute. Someone get me the president on the phone."

I don't know about you, but this sweet little girl is so cute that I just want to eat her up with a spoon. Maybe I'll settle for some Gerber Baby Food instead.

Do you love potato skins? Do you also love jalapeño poppers? If you answered yes to both, then this is definitely the recipe for you.

Fresh jalapeño peppers are halved, the seeds removed, and then stuffed with a creamy potato full of cream cheese, green onions, bacon and cheddar cheese. Bake these up golden brown for a super-delicious appetizer when entertaining guests.

I love topping these off with tangy sour cream, a dash of hot sauce and a bit of fresh cilantro to add a pop of color.

jalapeno popper potato skins

Inside-out potato skin jalapeño poppers recipe

Spicy jalapeños are loaded with ingredients you would typically use in a stuffed potato skin for a fun and modern take on a favorite appetizer.

Directions:

  1. Bring a pot of water to a boil over medium-high heat.

Ross Mathews doesn't want to fit into your stereotypical 'little box'

I spoke with the red carpet guru about maintaining his confidence and not giving in to stereotypes, and his responses were spot-on.

More: 2015 People's Choice Awards: Complete list of winners

"Here's the deal. I think people want to put everybody in a little box," Mathews said during our interview. "I think if you just do you and sort of surprise people, that's the best way to live, and it's the most interesting way to live. Don't you think? Everything else is just so boring, all these stereotypes. So I just think I try to break every single one of them."

Clearly, the motto is working for Mathews, who is celebrating a big win with the pass of California's Proposition 2, which mandates that hens must have more room, ensuring farming is humane. The cause is close to the host's heart and should be a cause on everyone's agenda.

"I love animals, I love food, but I find it very confusing when you're shopping for them," Mathews explained. "You know there's so many different things from cage-free to organic to free range... I just didn't understand it. And then when I started working with Happy Egg Co., I looked into Proposition 2 and realized it was really good that they passed that, and now they enacted it California. Hens get to have at least a little room to move around, but Happy Egg Co. goes so much further than that."

He said Happy Egg Co. makes sure the hens are "in a good place" so you can feel good about buying eggs in the store.

"I get along with hens. Chicks are my kind of people." (See what he did there?)

The law is significant, according to Mathews, because "we can do better. I think a lot of people aren't educated. I know I wasn't exactly on just how inhumane it's been in the past. And when you find out, it's kind of horrifying."

For example, caged birds have anywhere from 67 square inches to 116 square inches per bird. That's less than a letter-size sheet of paper and a legal-size sheet of paper, respectively. That's nothing! The Happy Egg farm, on the other hand, is 5 acres, according to the company's website, which translates to a minimum of 14 square feet per bird. It far exceeds free-range standards and blows caged standards out of the water.

Mathews hopes Prop 2 raises awareness in the grocery store. Consumers "have a choice," he said.

Mathews is also excelling in his personal life.

I couldn't help but fall in love with Mathews and his boyfriend of six years, celebrity stylist Salvador Camarena, at the People's Choice Awards this year. Of course, Camarena was there to support his boyfriend at the Happy Egg Co. event as well.

"We are quite a pair. I love him so much," Mathews told me.

He doesn't think fame has affected his relationship at all. In fact, it's just the opposite. "Our relationship has not gotten harder as I've become more successful. I actually don't know that I could have been more successful without him. I work very, very hard. And I'm proud of what I do, but when we go home, it is like the most normal thing you could ever imagine. We watch everything on the DVR with the three dogs, eating everything I probably shouldn't eat."

"It's nice to have a support system. I wish that for everybody."

You can see Mathews next on the E! News red carpet for the SAG Awards this Sunday, Jan. 25.

Women banned from Instagram for being too hairy down there

Amazingly, though Instagram removed the "offending" photo, they later put it back up after a massive backlash. Score one for social media! You can see for yourself below if it is "offensive":

Pubic Hair

Pubic Hair

OK, so yes. There is pubic hair. It's there. Now get over it. Our obsession nowadays with removing all body hair is weird. It's unnatural. I am just as guilty, so I can't judge. Certainly I shave my legs every day and keep everything pretty much neat and hairless. I would sooner eat six habanero peppers raw than wear a pelt anywhere on my body.

Is that good? Maybe for my husband. But when I think about my two beautiful daughters, I don't want them to feel that way. I want them to be proud of every part of themselves. If that part is hairy, so be it. We don't knock men for having hairy bits, do we? OK, maybe we do. Sometimes. Exceptionally hairy men that is. But for the regular schmo, a little leg hair is just fine. But God help the woman who has some.

Instagram was right to bring these photos back. There is nothing obscene about a more natural look. Personally, I will continue to groom, but I won't knock women who choose not to. That's not part of being a sister. I say if you like a full '70s look, rock on with it, sister. You are brave. You are bold.

And maybe if it comes back in style, we will all save a lot on waxing, razors and depilatory creams. A girl can dream, right?

5 Creepy crawly bugs that could be living in your houseplants

$

Warning: These bugs have a high creepiness factor when viewed up close!

1. Aphids

Image: Thomas Shahan via Flickr

Description: These bugs are pear or oval shaped. They are tiny: about 1/4 inch and wingless. They are typically green, but they can be yellow, black, brown, pink, gray or white. Aphids cause damage by sucking the sap from the plants. They are often found in large groups and are only noticeable when they shed their outer skin and droppings.

Treatment: Most commercially available insecticides will kill aphids. For a more environmental approach, try insecticidal soap or horticultural oils. They are less harsh and will easily kill aphids. If you do not want to use chemicals at all, you can try blasting the bugs off with water from a hose or using a cotton swab dipped in rubbing alcohol.

2. Mealybugs

Image: Melanie Cook via Flickr

Description: An oval, soft-skinned scale type bug with a fuzzy wax coating. They can grow up to 1/4 inch and like to hang out on the the undersides of leaves, on leaf axils and branches. They reproduce quickly and will completely cover a plant in a short amount of time, eventually killing the plant.

Treatment: If the bugs are isolated on a stem or leaf, remove the infected part of the plant. Alternatively, you can pluck the bugs off of the infected area or use a cotton swab dipped in alcohol. If the entire plant is covered, use a horticultural oil. Repeat with the oil until the majority of the infestation is under control and then use the cotton swab treatment to get any stragglers.

3. Spider mites

Image: Lucis via Flickr

Description: These tiny spiders are cousins of the common spider. They are 1/16 inch and are pale yellow or green. They hang out on the undersides of leaves, where they spin fine webs for protection. You know the infestation is bad if you see webbing on the upper surface of leaves. Spider mites cause leaf loss by sucking the chlorophyll from the plant, eventually causing the plant to die.

Treatment: You can try the water blast treatment if the infestation is not too out of hand. For a bad infestation, thoroughly wet the leaves of the plant to dislodge the mites and then spray the plant with insecticidal soap or horticultural oil. Keeping the plant misted often will help discourage spider mites.

4. Scales

Image: Gilles San Martin via Flickr

Description: They can have soft or hard, oval bodies that are brown, green, white, gray or black. Soft scale may be as large as 1/4 inch, with hard scale up to 1/8 inch. Mature scales adhere to stems and the undersides of leaves. They destroy the plant by sucking the sap. The plant will yellow and weaken; becoming susceptible to disease.

Treatment: Scales are a tough one. Because the mature scales have a hard outer shell, many insecticides will not penetrate them. The insecticides will get rid of the soft-shelled newly hatched scales. For the mature bugs, use the pluck-and-cotton swab method.

5. Whitefly

Image: Lisa Brown via Flickr

Description: A tiny, white moth-like insect that likes to hide under leaves. The tiny whiteflies are difficult to control due to their ability to fly from plant to plant. Both nymphs and adults suck the sap, causing yellowing and leaf drop.

Treatment: Start by removing the yellowed, diseased leaves. In order to eradicate whitefly, a couple of methods need to be employed. To get rid of the adult whiteflies, use a sticky trap (similar to fly paper) available at a garden center. To get rid of the eggs and nymphs (babies), you can apply insecticidal soap or neem oil ( a natural oil used as an insecticide).

Diplo claims to know Taylor Swift's secrets, 'scared for his life'

Speaking with GQ magazine, the DJ said that public feud, which was started by a rather silly (but funny) tweet and later defended by Swift's bestie, Lorde, was sort of taken out of context. He's actually close friends with Lorde, so Diplo explained "it was such a tongue-in-cheek joke on both sides."

Diplo told the magazine the joke went too far, and that he ultimately understands how powerful a star of Swift's magnitude is. "Taylor Swift is very strategic with her friends and enemies. And I know lots of secrets," he confessed. "I can't divulge, but I know a lot of stuff about her. And I'm scared. I'm scared for my life."

More: Lorde fans are now gathering funds to get Diplo a penis

While Diplo won't be divulging any of Swift's juicy stuff right now, it seemed like he's going to try and stay away from her fans, too. Aside from calling them "the worst people in the world," the DJ explained they said some damn evil things his way, such as wishing his kids had Down syndrome.

"I dissed Lady Gaga before, and the gays were never even this mean. They're funny," he recalled. "These people are like mean-spirited, evil human beings. I'm not a politician. I shouldn't have to be under the microscope for people like that."

Even with all that said, Diplo still roots for Swift, referring to himself as "a pretty big fan." While that may be true, we have a feeling this back-and-forth battle between Diplo and Taylor's fans isn't going to end just quite yet.

More: Benedict Cumberbatch introduces himself with horrible new names (VIDEOS)

During his Shelton's appearance, the country singer agrees to take part in Fallon's Whisper Challenge, where they each take turns guessing random names and phrases while wearing headphones that are blasting loud music. When it's Fallon's turn to guess the answers, Shelton does his best to pronounce the Oscar nominated actor's name, but advises that he "doesn't even know how to say" the Brit's name. Fortunately for Fallon, the late-night host guesses Benedict Cumberbatch pretty quickly. Ding ding ding!

"There is no way. That doesn't even mean anything," the singer says after jokingly throwing the card with Cumberbatch's name on the floor. Fallon does the minimal to explain who Cumberbatch is, but sort of appears surprised at Shelton's blonde moment. "That's a human. He's nominated for an Oscar," he says with a chuckle. "You got to get out of the house, man."

"I've never even heard of that," Shelton remarks, causing the live studio audience to laugh in an uproar.

Shelton has definitely grown on SheKnows in the past few years, especially during his time on The Voice. However, we're going to need him to watch a few more movies in between his time on the spinning chair or, even better, is there any way to get Shelton a ticket to the 2015 Oscars? It would probably do him wonders.

Watch Shelton get frustrated over not knowing who Benedict Cumberbatch is in the video below.

Sean Penn wants to be a daddy for the third time, with Charlize Theron

More: Charlize Theron and Sean Penn accused of mistreating her 2-year-old son

A source revealed to People magazine that the Gangster Squad actor has plans to adopt Theron's son, Jackson, age 3.

"Charlize and Sean are very serious," a source close to Theron reportedly told People. "Charlize says this is it. Jackson already calls Sean daddy."

"This is the first step toward them getting married," the source adds.

More: Sean Penn, Charlize Theron engaged — and it was everything but traditional

The South African-born actress and Penn have been dating for over a year (since taking their longtime friendship to the next level), and are even rumored to have gotten engaged while on a trip to Paris, France.

Adopting Jackson (who Theron adopted herself in early 2012, when he was 4 months old) would make the tiny tot Penn's third child, as he shares two children, daughter Dylan and son Hopper, from his previous marriage with wife Robin Wright — and Penn might not stop at three kids.

According to Us Weekly, the Oscar-winning stars have big plans for their relationship and they are already talking about more kids.

More: Sean Penn's daughter has a distinct opinion of Charlize Theron

A source revealed to the mag that "Sean always knew that to truly earn a place in Charlize's heart, connecting with Jackson was one of the most important parts."

The source added, "There is still talk of adopting again and giving Jackson a brother or a sister."

We're glad to hear that things are going so well between this A-lister couple.
