The worst questions and comments when you're TTC

$
0
0

Just relax, they say. If you do, you'll get pregnant right away, they say. This advice is well-meaning, but it only serves to grate on the nerves of someone who is trying to conceive. Not only does it minimize your experience and feelings, but it implies that you're doing something wrong. Yes, stress can affect your hormones and ovulation, but saying this to a woman who is TTC will just stress her out even more.

These questions and comments these moms received are just as bad, if not completely worse. If any of these have crossed your mind, make sure they stay there.

"But aren't you happy with your two boys?" Heather from Indiana reports that her own grandmother asked her this question when she talked about her plans to try for another baby. "It was like she was simultaneously so insensitive to the fact that we have trouble getting pregnant and insinuating that I in any way felt like my kids weren't 'enough,' or didn't love them 'enough.'"

"If you lay off the Sonic and Snickers, you might actually get pregnant." Niki, who had to endure infertility for many months and required not one but two IVF attempts to become pregnant with her son, had to deal with an asinine co-worker's insensitive remarks during her journey.

"Is it your fault or his that you are having trouble?" This is another unfortunate common question for women who aren't successful right away in their TTC adventures, as Niki unfortunately relates. For one thing, it isn't anyone's business, and for another, asking a woman whose fault it is places blame on someone who isn't really to blame.

"Are you trying for a girl?" Rebecca, who had announced her plans for another baby to a close friend, was irked when it was assumed that she wanted a baby girl — she already had three boys. "While yes, we would have happily welcomed a girl, we simply wanted another baby," she explains. "And I immediately became defensive, as if she was implying we would be unhappy with a boy."

What do you say to someone who has shared this personal news with you? You congratulate them and wish them luck. If they ask for your own experience or insight, particularly if you've gone down the infertility road yourself and they are headed that way, then please share with them. Otherwise, you might keep your questions to yourself.

Duck Dynasty the musical is actually going to be a thing

Sadie Robertson gushes over new Duck Dynasty engagement

Yes, you read that correctly: A&E's Duck Dynasty is heading to the stage. The family has been in talks to create a musical for the Rio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, People confirms.

According to the publication, the plan is for the musical to be a semi-biographical show based on The Duck Commander Family: How Faith, Family and Ducks Built a Dynasty, the book by Willie and Korie Robertson. And as for the name? Apparently, the 90-minute-long production will be referred to as The Duck Commander Family Musical and is set to open in February.

The controversial family seems like a rather unusual choice to base a musical on, but there will reportedly be a lot of country, blues and show tunes with some big names such as Robert Morris, Steven Morris and Joe Shane stepping in to ensure its success. And Grease's Jeff Calhoun will be at the helm.

Duck Dynasty's Phil Robertson has a plan for ISIS (VIDEO)

However, if you were hoping to see the Robertson family themselves head to the stage, well, there's no such luck, because actors will be taking on the roles of the family.

"The specificity and the strangeness of the family's lives and home are a great fit for a compelling musical," Steven Morris told The New York Times. "I think the expectation is that it'll be all chicken-pickin' stuff and banjos, but what we're trying to do is pull out as much heart, humor and sincerity as we can to keep people surprised."

Not everyone is happy about the news of the show, though, because according to Perez Hilton, longtime producer Emanuel Azenberg has reportedly branded it "disgusting."

Duck Dynasty star back on the air after A&E lifts suspension

"It's pretty disgusting, but it's also a reminder that Broadway is mostly about making entertainment today — not art — even if it means getting involved with a family whose members say things that offend a lot of people working on Broadway."

Teresa Giudice: 5 Reasons we still care about the RHONJ star

$

After a feisty three-part romp with Andy Cohen through the glittery mine field that is RHONJ, I'm normally left shaking my head over the couch antics and wondering how those people can justify their nastiness to one another. It's a train wreck that I can't bear to miss.

Not so this year. I just felt sad.

RHONJ stars are getting into legal trouble left and right

Sure, Jim Marchese was a jackass, and the sound of the twins' voices made me wish that leopard-print duct tape over one's mouth would magically become high fashion; but, that was pretty much the extent of my revelry this time around.

Teresa Giudice going off to prison doesn't entertain me. The over-the-top, table-flipping stage mom who has elicited countless jeers through the years is gone. In her place is a wounded, frightened, determined woman who finally has her priorities straight. Does she deserve her upcoming 15-month stint in orange? Yup. Am I joining in the ranks to celebrate her stupidity in getting herself in this situation? Nope. Here are my reasons why.

1. Gia

We've seen Teresa and Joe's oldest daughter struggle with family rifts in the past and come out strong, sensitive and supportive. She'll turn 14 just a week after her mother heads off to prison and will likely take a big role in helping her dad keep the household intact. For all intents and purposes, childhood over.

Watch out, world! This RHONJ tyke is hitting the music scene (VIDEO)

2. Gabriella

The non-squeakiest wheel of the bunch, Gabriella barely causes a ripple in the Giudice household, and I can't help but wonder how she’ll fare. She turns 11 on her next birthday.

3. Milania

Where to start with Miss M? There's never a dull moment where this spitfire is concerned and Mr. Mom Joe could end up dedicating 24/7 to corralling this little 8-year-old.

4. Audriana

Just halfway into her kindergarten year, the face that welcomes her home every day will suddenly be a stubbly one. Joe has promised to rise to the occasion — homework, meals, bath time, carpooling and countless other tasks that Teresa and other women have been handling since the beginning of time — but he has also said, "If you stick me with a knife, I probably wouldn't even feel it." This isn't going to be pretty.

RHONJ's Joe Giudice has more jail time hanging over his head

5. Antonia and Giacinto Gorga

Teresa's elderly parents have stayed away from the cameras, but we know one thing: Her father isn't well and his health is always top-of-mind for her. Broken hearts don't usually fare well during stressful times.

I, for one, am rooting for this family. I keep thinking about Martha Stewart holding her head high as she went off to do her time a few years ago. I marveled at her when she came out five months later with stories of how she made her time behind bars productive. In early 2016, we will see Teresa Giudice step back into her favorite role: that of a jubilant, overextended, hands-on mother. The home won't be as grand as it once was and it'll be all female for the foreseeable future, but I have no doubt it'll be a happy one.

Why you need to let your kid wreck your kitchen

$

When the middle school Spanish teacher sent home a baking project for the students this fall, my tween daughter insisted she wanted to do it. There were two versions of the traditional bread recipe, one super-easy and one very, very complicated.

Like most families, we are busy with sports, activities, appointments, homework, work and family commitments seven days a week. The last thing I wanted to do that Sunday morning was to get stuck in the kitchen for hours. For the record, baking in our house means slice 'n' bake cookies or unwrapping a prepared dessert.

I tried to say no, but when that didn't work, I insisted my daughter do the easy recipe or none at all. Of course, she begged to do the complicated recipe that required yeast and hours letting dough rise. Barely awake, I was grumpy and negative and I wasn't being nice. I envisioned a lot of work for me plus a wasted Sunday that would end with me cleaning up a huge mess.

Mean Mommy was in the house and wasn't budging.

Then I saw the look in my 11 year-old daughter's eyes and I stopped, took a deep breath, really listened to her and realized that this was not about baking bread from scratch at all. It was about my young daughter, my little girl who wasn't so little any more, asking for my support and the opportunity to prove something to herself. As I sat there in my PJs in that tiny moment in my messy kitchen on an ordinary weekend morning, I realized my daughter just wanted to be allowed to grow up a bit. And so, I said yes.Yes to the bread but more importantly to responsibility, self-esteem, maturity, creativity and independence.

It turned out to be one of the best days ever! Watching her shop for the ingredients, assemble the cooking tools, create the recipe, knead the dough, bake the bread and then proudly share it with our family is a parenting moment I will never, ever forget.

Of course, the experience was not at all easy or filled with sweet smells wafting from the kitchen; there were frustrations, some smoke and it took me days to get my kitchen cleaned up and back in order. We also tore through our paper towel supply and I had to toss a sponge and a dishtowel in the trash while also keeping my mouth shut and letting my girl figure things out alone. But in letting my tween commit to a project from start to finish, I gave her so much and we both started the inevitable parental journey of letting go a little bit at a time. By letting my daughter do something on her own, I'm also letting her grow.

Right now I'm watching and standing by with pride as my daughter helps plan our weekly Sunday dinner, a brand new tradition that nourishes our bodies and our souls.

So grab your teen, the paper towels and a cookbook and get cooking. I promise you it will be much more than the recipe you'll remember.

(Shhhh... secretly, I'm hoping that in a few years she can take over preparing the Thanksgiving meal!)

Kate Middleton almost enjoyed a Harry Styles nip slip (PHOTOS)

Shortly following Harry Styles' first meeting with the Duchess of Cambridge on Thursday, the singer let it all hang out, and attendees at the Royal Variety Performance in London got more than they paid for with a fine view of Styles.

We all know how much Styles likes his shirts cut low. This one was just particularly low. (See the tweet below for the captured nip slip moment. Also, the cheetah-print jacket should not go unnoticed.)

Luckily, Styles kept it under wraps while meeting Middleton and her husband Prince William. And Styles wasn't shy about congratulating the Duchess on her growing baby bump, according to the Standard.

It wasn't until Styles was departing the event that photographers caught the One Direction member showing off more skin than they bargained for.

Can you name the pop star Taylor Swift sings about in "Out of the Woods"?

Apparently, Styles' face is so shocked in some of the pictures, not because his nip was flying free, but because he was swarmed by photographers and fans upon leaving the venue, according to Cambio.

As he exited the event, Styles was accompanied by his good pal Ed Sheeran and Sheeran's girlfriend, who were walking slightly ahead of Styles and didn't seem to notice their friend was flashing the cameras.

The Royal Variety Performance is a gala held annually in the United Kingdom, with all proceeds going to support the Entertainment Artistes' Benevolent Fund. The entertainment for the evening often includes celebrity musical guests, comedy acts and dance performances.

Harry Styles' attitude about Taylor Swift has done a 180

Aside from One Direction, this year's entertainment at the show included Bette Midler, Ed Sheeran and Ellie Goulding. Simply Red was also scheduled to perform, including frontman Mick Hucknall, who was one of Princess Diana's favorite artists.

Of course, Styles is hardly the first rocker to let his nipples fly free any chance he gets.

What do you think of Styles' low-cut decision at the Royal Variety Performance?

Demi Lovato puts Meghan Trainor on blast for her eating disorder comments

Demi Lovato gets real about Taylor Swift's dating history

The "All About That Bass" singer has been making headlines for her chart-topping and super-catchy tune. Many people believe the song sends out a very positive message about body image. However, while Trainor is happy with her size and was trying to reiterate that during an interview with Entertainment Tonight, her comments were actually offensive.

Speaking about her weight in the past, Trainor told the outlet, "I did have this one boy come up to me, who, like, I loved him, I was so in love. And he told me, 'You'd be like real hot if you were 10 pounds lighter,'" she said. "I was like, 'Ugh, that's it! I am going to cry all day and not eat for the rest of the day.'"

Trainor went on to say that she could never have an eating disorder because she didn't have the "strength."

Watch out, Wilmer Valderrama! Demi Lovato is engaged to another man (VIDEO)

"I wasn't strong enough to have an eating disorder," she said. "I tried to go anorexic for a good three hours. I ate ice and celery, but that's not even anorexic. And I quit. I was like, 'Ma, can you make me a sandwich? Like, immediately.'"

Lovato's recent tweets, in which she seems to take aim at Trainor's insensitive comments, remind the world that it's not fun to joke about a serious disease.

Referring to Trainor's comment that eating disorders take strength, the former Disney star explained that this couldn't be further from the truth because strength is when you are "able to overcome your demons."

Mom's Must-haves: Kids' vitamins to help stay healthy through the holidays

Animal Parade Tooth Fairy: No one likes cavities

tooth vitamins for kids

My kids brush their teeth way more regularly now that I got them cool light-up toothbrushes. But I'm still concerned about their oral health — especially because I have bad enamel. A friend recommended Nature's Way Animal Parade Tooth Fairy vitamins for a supplement that promotes healthy teeth and includes a probiotic. They taste eerily similar to those chalky Fun Dip candy sticks. (amazon.com, $20)

Bio-K+: Live probiotics have never tasted so good

probiotics for kids

I'm obsessed with probiotics. I don't know if they're magical or if they really do anything wonderful, but I do know my doctor and my kids' doctor both recommend them, especially if any of us has been on antibiotics. My kindergartener has a tendency to pick up stomach bugs like it's his job, and I always put him on a gentle probiotic to help nourish his intestinal tract afterward. He loves Bio-K+. I share one with him so he gets the kid dose and I finish the rest. His verdict? "This tastes like drinking the bestest yogurt."

Rainbow Light Gummy Power Sours: Are we sure these aren't actually candy?

gummy vitamins for kids

Confession: These are kids' vitamins, but I've been eating them every day. I don't even care if they're good for me! They don't have any weird vitamin aftertaste. They just taste like awesome sour gummies. That aside, I love that they're in individual packages, because it makes them easy to hand out to the kids on the go, and it's easy to travel with them. At this time of year, I look for a kids' multivitamin with extra vitamin C to help combat rampant germs. So I also love that these have that nice immune system boost. (Rainbow Light, $15)

The writer received the Rainbow Light Gummy Power Sours and Bio-K+ from the respective brands so she could try out the products. All opinions expressed in the article are based on the reviewer's own assessments of the products.

Kylie Jenner hair extension launch

The currently green-haired teenager finally got a moment in the sun that had nothing to do with her lips or rumored plastic surgery at the launch of her new hair extensions venture, Kylie Hair Kouture. (We're just going to sidestep the fact that Jenner is 17 and she has her own business, and we are... a little older than 17 and we don't have our own business. It's the weekend and we need our self-esteem at a heightened level.)

Supporting the youngest of the Kardashian/Jenner brood were her big sisters Kim Kardashian — who attended the event without the champagne glass familiar to anyone who has an internet connection/is alive — and Khloé Kardashian, who looked great in an outfit we're dubbing "biker chick chic."

Also in attendance: a rapper by the name of Tyga. Could he have been playing the supportive boyfriend role at the launch? He certainly has been hanging around a lot lately (just like a hair extension), so it wouldn't surprise us if Tyga and his tigress were "together" at the launch of a business that aims to help lionesses enhance their manes.

Why might Alfonso Ribeiro bow out of the DWTS semifinals?

The Fresh Prince of Bel Air star is a fan favorite on the show, but he has unfortunately been plagued with injuries since he pulled a groin muscle earlier this season.

INTERVIEW: Erin Andrews reveals the secret weapon Tom Bergeron is hiding from DWTS fans

According to People, Ribeiro is currently under medical supervision and might not be allowed to perform on Monday or for the remainder of the season due to back trouble, which began following his groin injury.

The back injury was caused by Ribeiro overcompensating for his groin injury during his iconic dance, The Carlton. TMZ reports that the star skipped rehearsal on Thursday so he could have more tests to determine his condition and whether he can compete. The back injury is reportedly so bad right now that Ribeiro is having trouble walking, but doctors are looking to the next 48 hours to determine the next step for the star.

Julianne Hough is headed back to DWTS

Despite his injuries, Ribeiro and his partner Witney Carson have been on or near the top of the leader board nearly every week. They made to this season's semifinals with Tommy Chong and pro Peta Murgatroyd, Bethany Mota and pro Derek Hough, Sadie Robertson and pro Mark Ballas, and Janel Parrish and pro Val Chmerkovskiy.

Though Ribeiro may have to quit the show, he definitely still has reason to celebrate. Aside from making it to the Season 19 semifinals, Ribeiro also revealed during the show on Oct. 26 that he and his wife Angela Unkrich are expecting another baby. The couple already have a one-year-old son.

How much fun was Dancing With the Stars? Would you do it again? (VIDEO)

Just by watching Ribeiro dance The Carlton, you'd never know he was injured. This video is the performance that apparently really hurt the actor's back as he performed his signature moves. Watch the full dance below.

Ashton may be a dad, but he's still part of the Willis family

Don't even think about Photoshopping Rumer Willis

Rumer Willis recently disclosed that she harbors no ill will towards Ashton Kutcher after his sometimes-messy divorce from her mother, Demi Moore. In fact, she has nothing but respect for the new dad, and she and Kutcher remain friends.

"I reached out to him when he had his baby the other day, which was so awesome," Willis said in an interview with Access Hollywood. "I saw photos of her. She's very cute."

Willis, 26, also reflected on the fact that Kutcher took on their not-so-small family at quite a young age. "I realized the other day, he was younger than me when he and my mom started going out," she said. "That would be like me meeting someone who already had three teenage kids — kind of going into that whole situation was crazy."

While it doesn't seem like Kutcher, Kunis and baby Wyatt will be heading over the the Willis/Moore household to break bread this Thanksgiving, it's kinda cool to see that Kutcher is still keeping in touch with the kids who were his stepchildren for the better part of a decade.

For being the offspring of two mega-stars, Rumer and her sisters, Scout and Tallulah, seem to be pretty down-to-earth and tight-knit. The girls often post pictures together on social media, as well as cute photos from their youth.

Rumer credits her upbringing for the way they all turned out. "It's one of the things I admire most about my parents, is that they set such an incredible example for kind of putting their children first and keeping a family together, no matter what," she said.

I hate that my kids' grandparents are divorced

$
0
0

We are fortunate to live within driving distance of all of our parents: my mom and dad, my husband's mom and her third husband, and my husband's dad and his second wife.

When we were first married, we loved making the rounds to all of their houses on Mother's Day, Father's Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. But then our first child was born, and we started to hate having to spend every birthday and holiday toting our baby from house to house to see each of the six grandparents.

A lot of people would remind us how fortunate we are to have all of this wonderful extended family in our lives. And they're probably right. But after more than a year of spending every special day in the car with a cranky baby, we issued an ultimatum: Want to see us (i.e., your grandchild) on special days? Then you come here.

Seemed like a great plan, until I realized that it meant I'd have a houseful of company every time there was something to celebrate. What the hell was I thinking? I spend so much time and energy readying our home for visitors that I get no pleasure out of what should be a fun family affair.

I slave away in the kitchen preparing a feast for all of these people that we insisted on hosting. Everyone is kind enough to bring something for the good of the gathering, but there's this weird vibe when this parent shuns the dish that another parent brought and vice versa. It's unpleasant.

For the most part, we can all be in the same room together, but there's a tension that really puts a damper on things. This tension plays out unspoken at the actual gatherings — it's afterward, when each set of parents has us alone, that we find out how they really feel about the others.

My husband's dad and wife don't want the other grandparents to be present when the kids are opening their gifts. My parents feel excluded when my in-laws talk about that side of the family. And it's painfully obvious to everyone that my father-in-law and mother-in-law are still quite smitten with one another. Awkward!

Honestly, I hate these gatherings. They're not fun. They're not special. They're a lot of work and they're stressful. And even though our (now) tween and teen daughters love their extended family, they seriously dread all of the company. They'd be perfectly content to hop a plane to some remote destination to celebrate Christmas — just the four of us. Now that's a tradition I can embrace.

Taylor Swift brought Christmas early to this mom and her son

Taylor Swift was against any hint of country on her new album

You can hate Swift's music or her stance on Spotify, but you can't deny that the lady has a huge heart and she loves her fans.

Swifty showed up announced to a household in Connecticut on Thursday bearing expensive gifts for the family of Stephanie Barnett, a superfan who had reached out to Swift several years ago on Twitter, according to NBC Connecticut.

"I opened the door and she's like, 'Hey Steph!' and it's just her right there, and I lost it for a while," Barnett told NBC.

Turns out that Barnett had turned to Swift's music when she was going through a hard time in her life and was struggling to conceive. Barnett now has a 2-year-old son named Leyton, who just happens to have found a fairy godmother in Swift.

Taylor Swift visits fans again

"She went to FAO Schwarz and got a ton of stuff for Leyton," Barnett revealed. "The car was so big, she's like, 'I don't know how to ship it, so I thought I'd bring it over.' And I was like, who does that? It's incredible," she added about the mini motorized Mercedes Benz Swift purchased for her son.

Swift's generosity was far from lost on Barnett. "She's unbelievable. The things she does for her fans and she's a really amazing person," she said. "She's gotten a lot of people through so much more than anyone can imagine. I was literally bawling on my couch, like, inconsolably, that she would do this for me and my son."

And Barnett is right. Besides helping her fans by touching them through her music, Swift has shown up in person on several other occasions. In September, she hand-picked 35 fans to hang out all day with her at her own home, and she even baked them homemade cookies and gave a sneak-peek listen to 1989 before it was released. Swift has also been known to visit children's hospitals to sing and raise the spirits of extremely ill patients.

You'll never guess how much Kim Kardashian was paid for her naked cover

Watch Kim Kardashian poop in a cup (VIDEO)

First, Kardashian tried to #BreakTheInternet with a shot of her naked booty. Then, when the magazine was released, we learned that Kardashian had done a completely nude inside shoot. We're talking a full-frontal, nothing-left-to-the-imagination kind of shoot.

In an age where celebrities normally do anything they can to keep their naked pictures off the Internet, it wasn't long before the real question was raised: How much did Paper pay to get Kardashian to strip all the way down? The answer is definitely not what you'd expect.

Kardashian's full-frontal fee? Zero. Zilch. Nada. According to E! News, Kim didn't earn a single penny for the controversial, revealing shoot.

Shocker: Rosie O'Donnell is a big fan of Kim K's nude photo shoot

Sure, Kim Kardashian probably isn't someone who needs a huge paycheck. According to celebritynetworth.com, her net worth is $65 million and she makes $25 million to $30 million a year, and that's not even counting whatever astronomical amount of income hubby Kanye West contributes to the household. But considering the controversial nature of a nude photo shoot — especially one going online, free for all to see — you'd think Kardashian would be compensated somehow.

According to E! News, a rep from Paper confirmed that Kardashian wasn't paid and said there was another reason she agreed to appear in the mag.

"She was very excited to work with French photographer Jean-Paul Goude," the rep said. "Paper has never paid anyone to be on its cover."

And a source close to Kardashian told E! News the nude shoot wasn't even planned.

Kim Kardashian's full-frontal nude pictures prove bald is still hot (PHOTO)

"Kim went into the shoot with just the one cover image in mind: the champagne pic, because Jean-Paul Goude wanted to recreate his pic he took 30 years ago. That was it," the source dished about the shoot, which was done during Paris Fashion Week in September.

Are you surprised Kim did the shoot for free? Share your reaction in the comments below.

Kendra on Top: Was it a bad idea flying Little Hank to Costa Rica?

$

Lest you forget, last week ended with Kendra in Costa Rica visiting her dad. Although the two just reconnected after 20 years, they genuinely seem to be hitting it off.

Kendra on Top: Hank finally opens up — is it enough?

After filling her father in on Hank's itinerary, he tells her they are going out to dinner at one of the nicest restaurants in town. Seems sweet, right?

Well, yes and no.

Waiting for them at the restaurant are several of Eric's friends. While Kendra seems to enjoy herself, the whole thing seems a bit simulated.

Hank is in the house

Still, Kendra apparently enjoyed it, particularly hearing an anecdote from one of Eric's friends about how Eric had decided his grandchildren would call him "Grand-dude." OK, that is pretty adorable.

The next morning, though, Hank arrives, and the couple picks up their pained rapport as of late. And Kendra tells Little Hank — who flew out with Big Hank — that she wants him to meet his granddad.

While I understand how happy Kendra is to have reconnected with her dad, this seems like a lot to throw at a little boy who is still just trying to figure out what is going on with his parents.

SheKnows Parenting Expert Vera Sweeney agrees it may be overload for Little Hank.

"It's just so confusing, isn't it? I'm not sure what message Kendra is trying to throw out to her son," Sweeney says. "I actually don't think she knows what she wants herself. I think she is struggling with figuring out what she wants on her own, and it's hard for her to come to a finite conclusion."

When it comes to her husband, Kendra should decide for sure whether she wants to move forward or not, the expert asserts.

"If she does, then she just needs to move forward with it and let everything in the past go. Otherwise, all these mixed messages of the perfect vacation and then two days later a blow out fight and separation will put Little Hank over the edge. It's just too much for a child to process. It's actually too much for an adult to process!" Sweeney says.

Kendra on Top: Did Hugh Hefner really give Kendra the best advice?

A day at the beach

The little patchwork family then decides to head to the beach so Eric (aka Grand-dude) can teach Little Hank to surf. Kendra, her newly reconciled dad, her estranged husband and her cute kid seem to be enjoying an idyllic day at the beach — a fact that isn't lost on Kendra.

As their day at the beach draws to a close, Eric asks Hank what happened.

Hank then shares an interesting tidbit. "Sometimes you try to say what's on your mind, but you're too worried about the words coming out the wrong way," he said, "and if they come out the wrong way then, it's worse than if you don't say anything at all."

Is this a cop-out? Another stalling tactic? Or does he legitimately have a point?

"In a way, I appreciate Hank's honesty and vulnerability," says SheKnows Dating and Relationship Expert Andrea Syrtash. "He's right — it's not comfortable to tell his wife's father about their current situation and what he's been accused of doing."

Did Kendra Wilkinson and Hank Baskett really just call it quits?

But — and it's a big one — that doesn't mean Hank is off the hook, either.

"By the same token, Hank has potentially put his family in an uncomfortable position, so he should take more ownership and get used to having uncomfortable conversations," Syrtash adds.

Last night in paradise

Later, back at Casa del Eric, as Kendra gushes about how perfect everything has been with her dad, it becomes apparent that — despite the warm cozies felt watching them frolic in the ocean — Kendra is still pissed.

Throughout their conversation, Kendra mocks Hank, who can't see her from where he is sitting.

Not the best approach, Syrtash notes, saying, "Nobody would blame Kendra for being mad and hurt, but there are more productive ways to deal with her feelings than making passive-aggressive jabs at her partner. This communication pattern doesn't lead to understanding. Rather, it generally leads to one partner acting defensive or retreating in response."

Kendra on Top: Hank admits he did something wrong — sort of

Then things get even more uncomfortable when Hank grabs Kendra's hand and emotionally tells her even if it takes 20 years for her to forgive him like it did with her dad, he'll wait.

Eesh. Bad timing, buddy.

At dinner on their last night, Eric steals one final moment to speak on behalf of Hank — a man he says is a "good person and a great father."

While it's normal for Kendra's dad to want to, well, be a dad after being out of the picture for so long, he lacks the full context.

"Kendra may be slightly swayed by her dad's opinion to keep the family together — especially considering her past with him specifically — but will also likely recognize that he doesn't have the full picture of her situation and current struggle with Hank," Syrtash says.

Back to life, back to reality

After a tearful goodbye the following day, Kendra returns to reality. Which, in this instance, means being picked up at the airport by her bestie, Jessica.

Jessica, who I want to steal and make my best friend, gives Kendra a heads-up that her mom has been saying some potentially hurtful things on social media.

Kendra on Top: Are Hank's tears real or is he manipulating her?

When Kendra reads Patti's Facebook post claiming she continues to be "hurt & disrespected" by her daughter, Kendra vows to cut all ties with mommy dearest.

But is Kendra being too quick to sever her relationship with her mom? Meh, probably not, proffers Sweeney.

"Celebrity does things to people. It does things to the actual person in the spotlight, and it does things to the people in the shadows. Jealously. Obsession. Desire. Anger. These emotions begin to creep out of people you'd least expect. Unfortunately, Kendra's mother has shown her true colors," Sweeney says.

Even if Kendra does opt to hear her mom out, Sweeney predicted more heartache for the TV star.

"If she decides to have a conversation, her mother might be able to weave a new story, but in the end, what's done is done," Sweeney says. "Unfortunately, famous people lead very lonely lives. One by one people disappoint and then disappear. I fear that Kendra's mother will soon be added to that list."

Arnold Schwarzenegger quotes that sum up his son's fling with Miley Cyrus

According to the former Governator's Instagram snap today, this lady is super cute, she hangs out in the kitchen and she encourages him to eat healthier. Plus, they look incredibly happy together — just look at the giant grin on Schwarzenegger's face. What more does a guy need?

Oh, yeah. Also, she's a mini horse, and her name is Whiskey.

Photo credit: Arnold Schwarzenegger / Instagram

Schwarzenegger shared the photo Friday morning, and in it, we see a smiling Schwarzenegger sharing carrots with Whiskey in his kitchen. The photo is captioned, "If anyone notices I have lost a little weight, blame Whiskey. She's been stealing my breakfast every morning."

Don't worry if you need to take a minute to let the cuteness sink in. We did.

We don't know much about Whiskey yet, but we do know that we're keeping our fingers crossed for more pics of this adorable duo. If Whiskey hangs out in the kitchen, does she also hang out in other parts of the house? If so, we want pictures of her in every room. Does Schwarzenegger take her on walks? Photos of that, please. How about on errands around town? Does she ride in the car? We must know, and we must see photographic evidence. Really, just every aspect of the Terminator actor's life with this ridiculously adorable pet needs to be documented and shared online. It's for the good of mankind, Schwarzenegger. We're sure you understand.

While I'm over here trying to figure out if I can get away with keeping a mini horse in my apartment, tell us what you think of this adorable duo in the comments below.

Turkey and dressing summer rolls with Thai sweet chili sauce recipe

Turn your leftover Thanksgiving turkey and dressing into a healthy summer roll with a quick and easy Thai sweet chili dipping sauce. No gravy allowed.

Serves 2

Total time: 50 minutes

Ingredients:

For the Thai sweet chili sauce

  • 1 jalapeño pepper, seeds removed, diced
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried red pepper flakes
  • 2 garlic cloves, diced
  • 3 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Sriracha sauce
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1/4 teaspoon cornstarch
For the summer rolls
  • 1-1/2 cups shredded cooked turkey
  • 1-1/2 cups prepared dressing
  • 1 large carrot, thinly sliced
  • 1 large celery stalk, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 zucchini, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 Granny Smith apple, cored, thinly sliced (fresh lime juice can be added to keep the apple slices from turning brown)
  • 8 sprigs cilantro
  • 8 rice papers
  • Water for rice papers

Directions:

For the Thai sweet chili sauce

  1. To a medium-size bowl, add all the ingredients, and whisk them together.
  2. Let chill in the refrigerator while making the summer rolls.
For the summer rolls
  1. Fill a large, shallow bowl with hot water (hot tap water is fine).
  2. Dip the edges of the rice paper into the hot water. Then dip the entire paper into the hot water for about 20 seconds or until it starts to get soft.
  3. Remove the rice paper from the water, and carefully lay it out flat on a large plate.
  4. About 1/3 of the way inside the rice paper, lay some of the stuffing about 1/2 inch from the sides.
  5. Top the stuffing with the shredded turkey, zucchini, apple, carrot and celery.
  6. Roll the rice paper once, just over the ingredients.
  7. Then fold over 1 side of the paper toward the inside about 1 inch.
  8. Fold over the other side about 1 inch.
  9. Add a few pieces of the carrot and a sprig of cilantro on top of the rolled side of the rice paper. This will be a "window" that will show off the pretty colors.
  10. Gently roll the paper tightly over the ingredients to form the summer roll.
  11. Repeat the process with the remaining ingredients.
  12. Serve with the Thai sweet chili sauce.

Johnny Depp slurs and sways his way through award show speech (VIDEO)

Here's how Johnny Depp’s street cred just went through the roof (VIDEO)

The Pirates of the Caribbean actor gave an introduction speech at the Hollywood Film Awards Friday night for Shep Gordon, the subject of the Mike Myers documentary Supermensch: The Legend of Shep Gordon, which won the Hollywood Documentary Award.

Except Depp's speech was less introduction and more swaying, slurring, profanity-laced weirdness.

First, he stumbled up to the microphone, swayed, barely kept his balance and and almost knocked the mic stand over. Not a great start. The first words out of his mouth were, "I'm really not good at this kind of thing," which is apparent, because you can barely understand his heavily slurred speech.

For the rest of the speech, Depp continued to sway and seemed to be struggling to keep his balance. The whole introduction felt like drunken rambling as the audience laughed uncomfortably. At the end, CBS had to censor a string of curse words and cut the speech off suddenly after Depp slurred, "I mean, it's one of those nights."

The bizarre showing had the Twitterverse talking, mostly to question whether Depp was as drunk as he appeared to be at the show.
