Daniel Radcliffe raps?! Watch him kill it with 'Alphabet Aerobics' (VIDEO)

During his visit to The Tonight Show, Radcliffe was challenged by Jimmy Fallon to show his rap skills after the British actor had revealed he was really into "complicated, lyrically intricate and fast songs."

Daniel Radcliffe on drinking problem: "I became a nuisance"

"Like Blackalicious' 'Alphabet Aerobics'?" Fallon teased.

"That would be one," Radcliffe said confidently, leaving Fallon quite impressed. "You know how to do that whole song? That's one of the trickiest, fastest songs I know!" And when Radcliffe agreed, the late-night funny host snuck the incriminating microphone to him as a cue to get up on it.

Taking his jacket off, Radcliffe took on the stage and proceeded to nail the song to a T. He started slow with the letter "A" and rapped, "Artificial amateurs aren't at all amazing, analytically, I assault animate things." Moving on to "C," "D" and "E," Radcliffe picked up his speed as Fallon flipped though the letters on big cardboard signs behind him.

Childhood ruined: Daniel Radcliffe shares TMI about sex life

As the rap got faster and faster, Fallon couldn't help but start bouncing up and down with excitement as Radcliffe continued to hit every lyric of the song. As the Kill Your Darlings star reached the letter "Z," Fallon threw the letter down as the audience burst into applause, giving Radcliffe a well-deserved standing ovation.

You, too, can be amazed by watching the entire rap on the video below.

How GoFundMe is changing lives of real women fighting breast cancer

0
0

Skip the pink jelly beans this month and visit GoFundMe, a site that has created a platform for women to ask for help waging the fight for their lives against the disease.

Thanks to the shameful state of our health care system, even women who are fully insured face expenses throughout the course of their treatment, like co-pays and travel expenses, not to mention missed work and often having to find care for small children, that can cripple even the most financially stable families.

So GoFundMe, an already established personal fundraising site that has raised $2 million per day for personal causes, has become a place where women who need to raise money for their breast cancer treatment can turn.

One look at these women and you realize every donation — no matter how small — helps them get through the next day, the next treatment, the next surgery. And it doesn't get more personal than these stories.

Elizabeth

Elizabeth Bogart is a young wife and mother who started chemo on Sept. 29. She looks like every other lady you see dropping off her kids at school, except she’s in the fight of her life.

Her friend Lori started the GoFundMe page, and to-date it has raised just over $2,600 from 27 of her friends and family.

Kinda makes those bright-pink NFL gear accessories seem ridiculous, doesn’t it? And according to the Washington Post, only about 12.5 percent of the funds raised through the NFL's breast cancer awareness sales actually go to breast cancer research. GoFundMe collects a 5 percent fee on donations, leaving the other 95 percent to be spent on breast cancer treatments and care.

Steph, Prissy and Shauna

There are many more women on GoFundMe just like Elizabeth. Too many. There’s Steph and Team Prissy, raising money to help a mother of three small kids fight like hell against an aggressive breast cancer diagnosis. And Shauna will shave her mom's head on video when her GoFundMe page reaches its $10,000 goal.

Walking in a pink shirt, buying pink socks and a matching visor — all of these things are nice. But if you’re interested in throwing your support behind the women who are living every single day in the grip of breast cancer, GoFundMe is a great best place to start.

If you or someone you know is interested in starting a GoFundMe page to help someone fighting breast cancer, here's more info on how to get started.

Daniel Radcliffe has a simple plan for growing up in Hollywood

INTERVIEW: Daniel Radcliffe opens up about his love life

Radcliffe took questions during a Reddit chat, and explained what it was like growing up as a child star. And he said, more than anything, he is glad he ended up so normal after all that.

"I would attribute it to my parents and also to the crew of the Potter films, who were very good at treating us like kids rather than as actors, as they should have done," Radcliffe explained, according to E! News. "It's hard to say what it comes down to. I think also when you grow up in the media, you get a very clear sense of how crazy the media is."

The actor explained how the worst part about growing up as a child star was people thinking he was “bratty and obnoxious.” And the best part? “Obviously being mistaken for Elijah Wood,” Radcliffe joked.

Radcliffe and his fellow Harry Potter costar Emma Watson are doing big things in Hollywood, even after shedding the child star persona. But they have remained close. Radcliffe said that growing up with each other made him realize how special it was that they were creating such an important series together.

"The countdown that Emma's birthday was to when she turned 18, or 17, or whatnot, it was insane. It was insane," he said. "And I think when you see that perspective that we all saw at very young ages, you do get an extra level of awareness, maybe."

Don't you dare call Daniel Radcliffe "unconventional" (VIDEO)

Now that the child stars of Harry Potter are all grown up, they are becoming A-listers in Hollywood. So who would Radcliffe like to work with if given the chance?

"George Clooney, Jennifer Lawrence — I just think they'd be really cool," he said. "I just want to work with people you can get on with, and you have a good rapport with, and those are definitely some of them."

You can see Daniel Radcliffe now in his newest film What If.

9 Details about Marvel's Black Panther, female superhero and more

Here are five things to know about Black Panther actor Chadwick Boseman.

He's a playwright

Boseman is an accomplished theater actor and playwright with a handful of plays under his belt, including Deep Azure, which was nominated for a 2006 Joseph Jefferson Award for New Work.

He got his start on All My Children

As an All My Children alum, Boseman is in good company. Other famous actors who got their start with the daytime soap include Josh Duhamel, Christian Slater, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Amanda Seyfried, Kelly Ripa and Carol Burnett.

He's Marvel's first lead actor of color

Black Panther

This is actually a big deal because even though we have seen some casting diversity in the Marvel universe, Black Panther will mark the first time an entire franchise is centered on an actor of color. It's about time. We're very excited to see Boseman take command on the big screen in 2017.

Wal-Mart unveils awesome 3-D Marvel printing — for boys only

You've probably seen him on TV outside of All My Children

Before coming to the big screen, Boseman guest-starred in a variety of popular TV shows, including CSI: NY, Law & Order,  ER, Castle, Justified and Fringe (to name a few).

He played Jackie Robinson in 42

If you're looking at that handsome face and imagining him in a baseball uniform, it's probably because you recognize the actor from his breakout role in 42, the recent Jackie Robinson biopic costarring Harrison Ford. Boseman impressed audiences and critics alike with his compelling performance as the first African American baseball player signed to the Major League.

Keanu Reeves really wants to be a superhero

With a multi-picture deal signed with Marvel, we're confident we'll see a lot more of Boseman. But if you can't wait for Captain America: Civil War to come out, you might want to check out the recently released Get on Up, in which Boseman plays James Brown.

Doctors say it's as bad as we thought: Amanda Bynes will remain in hospital

Nick Cannon finally says what needs to be said about Amanda Bynes

Bynes' original 17-day involuntary psychiatric hold was due to end yesterday, but the staff at Las Encitas Hospital in Pasadena, California, deemed her ill enough to extend the commitment and went to the courts to do so, according to TMZ. On Monday, a judge upheld their request and a 30-day extension was granted.

The former child actress quickly went on a downward spiral recently after being released from a conservatorship held by her parents, Lynn and Rick. The conservatorship was granted last year after Bynes spun out of control in a similar manner.

Bynes allegedly went off of her prescribed medication once she was on her own again, which resulted in a DUI, accusations of shoplifting, a brutal Twitter attack on her father, which she later attributed to a microchip in her head, and other bizarre public behavior that was displayed on both the East and West coasts.

It was rumored that Bynes' parents were going to seek another conservatorship for their daughter, but they have backed out because Bynes blames them for her current hold and they fear her anger would make it impossible for them to control her.

It actually might be in Bynes' best interest to not be released to Lynn and Rick, considering they grossly underestimated her situation previously and blamed her behavior on marijuana usage.

The question, for now, is: When Bynes is finally released, who will watch after her? History has already proven that she can't be on her own, and if her parents are out of that picture, who does that leave? Does she stay in the hospital until doctors deem her healthy enough to reenter society?

We're sad that Bynes has to be put on a hold for such an extended period, but we have our fingers crossed that she's getting the help she so desperately needs.

Beyoncé, Taylor Swift songs get mashed together and it's (sort of) magical

Muppets vs. Beastie Boys mash-up? Now we've seen everything (VIDEO)

On Tuesday, Oct. 28, a mash-up of Bey's "XO" and Swift's "Out Of The Woods" took the blogosphere by storm and we have to admit it's pretty good. SoundCloud user junesmoon took Yoncé's vocals from the uplifting love song and combined them with the instrumental to the country-turned-pop darling's "Out Of The Woods." Granted, it's definitely more Bey than Swift, as the background vocals for "XO" also appear pretty dominant, especially toward the end of the track, but it's one of the more fitting mash-ups we've heard lately. At time of press, the mash-up had garnered over 98,000 spins since its initial upload eight days ago.

The best mash-ups on the web

While the mash-up serves as an amazing example of what happens when you combines tunes from artists that would likely never really work with each other, it also shows how much a song can change and evolve with a different set of lyrics. While "Out Of The Woods" is much more of an angsty, HAIM-like song, it becomes a celebratory dance tune once Swift's vocals are switched out for Beyoncé's. And yet, even though it does work, "Out Of The Woods" requires such urgency that TSwift's original really does deliver a much stronger result.

What do you think of the Beyoncé and Taylor Swift mash-up? Take a listen and let us know in the comment section below.

Olivia Wilde urges Californians to help her fix the justice system

Mommy tweets: Olivia Wilde’s breast milk challenge, Stacy Keibler's sweet baby name

"Family is everything. I've always felt that way, but having a baby this year really drove that truism home," Wilde explained to E! News.

Wilde and Jason Sudeikis welcomed baby Otis back in April. She was using the moment to talk about family and how it related to the upcoming election.

"Being a mother has reinforced and refined my thinking on many issues, including — believe it or not — our criminal justice system,” she said. “That's why I'm supporting Proposition 47."

Proposition 47 is a voter initiative in California that reduces jail time for certain offenses — including shoplifting, grand theft, receiving stolen property, forgery, fraud, writing a bad check (where the value doesn’t exceed $950) and personal use of most illegal drugs. The crimes would require a misdemeanor rather than a felony.

Although Wilde is supporting the proposition, she urges everyone to go out and vote — but only to do so if you do research first. She says her family "instilled, since I was a child, a commitment to critical thinking. Don't believe what you hear; explore and analyze what you encounter to determine your own truth. This family trait has led me to not only think deeply about societal issues but also to act. Having my son has only increased my desire to do so."

8 Female celebs who aren't afraid to talk about their vaginas

Wilde isn’t the only celebrity who has spoken out about Prop 47. Wilde continued, "I also am one of several Artists for 47 endorsing the initiative, ranging from Jay Z to Brad Pitt to Cameron Diaz and John Legend. We're united in this effort because our current justice system is tearing apart families for low‐level crimes, and draining community resources and tax coffers to pay for it. It hasn't worked, and I urge Californians to join me on Nov. 4 in voting yes on Prop. 47."

Get ready to Scream: MTV is jumping on the horror bandwagon

0
0

Not only did Fox recently announce they are developing a new horror comedy with Ryan Murphy called Scream Queens, now MTV is joining the television horror fun by ordering its Scream adaptation to series. The show will premiere Oct. 2015 with 10 episodes.

Scream 4 movie review

As if any '90s kid could forget, Scream is the story of some small-town teenagers who are terrorized by a psychopath. As they are picked off one by one, the group of friends begins analyzing the rules of horror they now live in.

The pilot for the show was first ordered by MTV back in May 2013. Jill Blotevogel (Harper's Island, Ravenswood) is the executive producer and will also be the showrunner for the series.

Teen Wolf vs. Pretty Little Liars: Which show has the most dedicated fans?

The series's premise will be a little different and updated for the technological 21st century. According to Entertainment Weekly, the show will follow popular but shy Emma (Willa Fitzgerald), artsy loner Audrey (Bex Taylor-Klaus), computer geek Noah (John Karna), all-American athlete Will (Connor Weil), socialite Brooke (Carlson Young) and mysterious newcomer Kieran (Amadeus Serafini).

Now the movies, originally, were the stuff of serious teenage nightmares. Bloody, brutal and twisted with, of course, some awesome '90s cliches thrown into the mix, we have to say that we're unsure about MTV's ability to pull the story off as a show. Especially given that the network will be limited in their gruesome depictions due to TV guidelines.

POLL: Which Teen Wolf death would most impact the show?

Is anyone else picturing just a more gruesome version of Pretty Little Liars? Because we definitely are. Especially with Jill Blotevogel of Ravenswood set as showrunner. Now, as fans of Pretty Little Liars and the classic Scream movies, that makes us more than willing to give this show a chance.

Call us skeptically optimistic and cross your fingers crossed Scream delivers in 2015.

One thing Tori Spelling probably doesn't need right now? Dildos

Tori Spelling invites Dean's ex to her daughter's unusual birthday bash

With his wife, Tori Spelling, still hospitalized for the nervous breakdown she suffered last week, McDermott was spotted doing some casual shopping — for sex toys. Shutterbugs caught the actor leaving a sex shop in Encino Calfornia over the weekend with a bag of purchases.

It's just the latest in what's become a long, depressing saga that seems to be signaling the end of the pair's extremely rocky marriage, which has faced challenges from infidelity to alcoholism.

Tori Spelling ominously drops Dean from her Twitter handle

Considering all the pair has been through lately, coupled with the fact that Spelling is recovering from her nervous breakdown as well as bronchitis, sinusitis and pneumonia, you'd think McDermott would want to be at his ailing wife's bedside as much as possible. And despite what he seems to think, dildos are probably not the best choice he could have made to make Spelling's hospital stay more comfortable.

He's obviously not absent because Spelling doesn't want him there. On Thursday, she posted to Instagram a photo from her hospital bed with the caption, "This sick in hospital I finally see how quickly life can take it all away frm you. We all need 2 step up frm inside& go 4 it! W/our friends by our side. Sadly I've finally faced truth that 1 person will never be there 4 me #TrueTori"

Clearly, the "one person" who isn't there for her is her husband, because instead of staying at her side while she struggles to recover, he's buying sex toys. Their relationship drama continues to play out on their reality show, True Tori, where, in a teaser for the upcoming episode, Tori admits she "[doesn't] even know anymore" why she's still with McDermott.

Do you think Spelling should keep sticking it out for her marriage? Or is this the last straw for an already ailing relationship? Tell us in the comments below.

16 Traditional and modern Day of the Dead recipes

Nov. 2, also known as All Souls' Day, is when those of Mexican and Latin American descent celebrate the Day of the Dead. Unlike the American holiday of Halloween, this 3,000-year-old Aztec ritual is a way to celebrate, honor and remember those special loved ones who have left Earth. During this holiday, souls are welcomed to visit the families they left behind, while during Halloween, masks and scary costumes are worn to ward off evil spirits. Colorful altars are decorated with fresh flowers and bright tapestries as well as a feast of traditional foods. Here are some typical dishes you might see at a Dia de los Muertos celebration.

Wow, being married to Tom Cruise sounds awful, and Katie Holmes confirms it

0
0

Holmes, who was married to Cruise from 2006 to 2012, said she lives by three rules these days — and she sure made it sound like she put the mantra in place because Cruise's rules for her were the opposite.

"I don't have any fear now, I don't have a lot of rules for myself, and I don't take myself that seriously," she told People.

"I feel ready for new challenges."

Cruise was notoriously controlling during their marriage, reportedly telling her what projects she could take on and even hiring a "valet" under the auspices of being her personal assistant, but who was allegedly a spy who reported back to Cruise on her every move.

Right after their split was announced, sources leaked details of Holmes reportedly going to great lengths to hide her plans to leave, including using secret, disposable cell phones to make legal and financial arrangements before springing the news on an unsuspecting Cruise while he was on a film set.

In a deposition for an unrelated lawsuit, Cruise admitted under oath that Scientology had a hand in the split, and insiders said Holmes was tired of being followed and scrutinized by the controversial group — and that she feared their daughter Suri would soon be indoctrinated.

But today, the actress no longer wants us to associate her with those harried years.

"I don't want that moment in my life to define me, to be who I am," she told People. "I don't want that to be what I'm known as. I was an actor before, an actor during and an actor now."

Read the complete interview with Katie Holmes in this week's issue of People, available on newsstands Friday.

Jim Carrey's Matthew McConaughey impersonation is eerily spot-on (VIDEO)

TRAILER: Why Dumb and Dumber To could never live up to the original

Though he pranced his way through his SNL hosting duties in a Helvis outfit, a nude leotard and a blond wig (it is almost Halloween, after all) by far his best moment of the night was his spoof on Matthew McConaughey's recent run of Lincoln car commercials.

Aside from perfecting the southern accent, Carrey also spent the entire commercial rubbing his fingers together in that odd way McConaughey does in the actual commercials, which seem to aim to pay homage to his True Detective character.

Matthew McConaughey Lincoln ad

Except in Carrey's version, he actually explains the weird finger-rubbing behavior. "When I'm done rolling up this booger, should I eat it or throw it out the window?" he ponders.

10 Shocking things you don't know about Jim Carrey

Carrey is really spot-on with his McConaughey impersonation. "Sometimes you've got to go back to actually move forward, and I don't mean go back and reminisce or chase ghosts," Carrey says in his parody. "I mean take a big step back like go from winning an Oscar to doing a car commercial. My agent was like, 'I could understand if you did this right after The Lincoln Lawyer.' That would have made sense. But you don't buy a Lincoln 'cause it makes sense. You do it 'cause you love it — or 'cause you're an über-driver."

In only two days since the spoof went online it has garnered over 5 million views. Carrey isn't the only one to make fun of McConaughey's commercials. South Park and Ellen DeGeneres also took their turn spoofing the commercial. But Carrey's version is making waves as by far the most popular.

Bruce Jenner's 65th birthday looks like a real drag

0
0

Despite Jenner's many denials that he's going through a gender transition, the distanced Kardashian patriarch showed huge clues to the contrary during a birthday outing. The former Olympian was seen riding in a car, lighting up a cigarette, which he held with a pretty manicured hand complete with fire-red nail polish, E! News reported.

Bruce Jenner steps out with long hair, manicure, man boobs

Ever since Jenner's split from wife Kris Jenner last year, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star has been changing his looks toward a more feminine appearance. He has much longer hair, smooth facial skin and often looks like he's wearing lip gloss. The quiet reality staple also gave more hints at a possible sex change when he underwent a procedure to shave down his Adam's apple.

So, the blatant red nails Jenner flashed on Tuesday further gave way to more questions as to what he is up to regarding his increasingly womanly looks.

Kris Jenner is done with Bruce Jenner, files for divorce

Meanwhile, his soon-to-be ex Kris, who he's remained good friends with, says that Jenner is not becoming a female by any means. "It's silly. They've been saying that since the '70s. You'd think it'd be cooked by now, I don't know — but [that storyline] keeps continuing... They keep regurgitating the same old stuff."

But while the denials keep coming, it has to be recognized that flaming red nails are not a usual look for a regular straight guy. With the previous clues to Jenner's gradual womanly transition, the colorful nails can only amplify speculations that the father of 10 is definitely going through some kind of change.

As for the cigarette, that's a bigger mystery. Perhaps Jenner is going for the smoky diva look — or just dealing with some stress.

How to easily grow tomatoes in planters (VIDEO)

0
0

To get your tomatoes up and running, you'll first need a few items to get started. Pick out any planter or container you want to grow your tomatoes in. Make sure it's large enough to fit the plant, and give it room to grow, depending on how big of a plant you purchase. You'll also need to pick up some compost, container soil, fertilizer and a tomato cage. You can find these items at Home Depot, Lowe's or other hardware stores.

After you have all your materials, you're ready to get started planting. First, mix 2 parts soil to 1 part organic compound. Fill the container without packing the soil in too tightly. Slowly add water to get the mixture wet, and place 1/2 the tomato plant under the soil line. Add some fertilizer to the top of the soil, and water the plant again. When your soil is nice and moist, add the tomato cage, and tie the main stems of the plant to the cage with twine or another sturdy material.

With a little TLC, your family will have delicious tomatoes to enjoy in a variety of ways.

Why is Jim Carrey putting stuff in David Letterman's mouth? (VIDEO)

Carrey was taking no chances when he dropped by the Late Show with David Letterman Wednesday night — after all, New York is a germ-ridden place and the talk-show host meets tons of people, all of who possibly could have Ebola. Obviously.

And (just in case): "Are you now or do you plan to be a member of ISIS?"

Letterman soon turned the tables. "You travel the world promoting the movies and such," he said. "Are you worried about diseases?"

"Once you've done a couple of press tours, you know, you welcome death," Carrey deadpanned. "You do, there's nothing left that's meaningful."

Plus, "I've been married a couple of times," he added, "so it takes a lot to scare me, Dave."

Ironically, Carrey has a reputation for being an anti-vaxxer — perhaps the deeper level of comedy here is that he's making fun of himself as well as society's Ebola paranoia.

If you're looking for a miracle skin care product, this is it

My smooth skin turned red with angry and vindictive patches of acne. Once my daughter was born, I was certain my skin would revert back to its youthful glow — but my sleeplessness only added wrinkles and dark spots to the patches of zits and gaping pores. The joys of motherhood.

I tried everything to troubleshoot my skin problems: astringents, toners, gentle cleansers, non-comedogenic moisturizers and makeup. Nothing helped. And then, a girlfriend told me that her dermatologist prescribed a miracle ointment that completely erased a two-inch dark patch on her face within a month. She told me that this miracle drug — which she called Retin-A, but is actually known medically as retinoic acid or tretinoin — is clinically shown to improve acne and wrinkles, too.

It took me all of two days to make an appointment with my dermatologist for my own dose of miracle ointment. He prescribed a version of retinoic acid for my persistent acne. Once I made it past two weeks of dry and flaky skin, I noticed my skin appeared smoother and my crow's feet disappeared. After a month, my pores grew smaller and a glow returned to my skin. After six weeks, the acne was gone for good.

My results were drastic, but unsurprising. "Retinoic acid is absolutely an anti-aging and skin care wonder," explained dermatologist Dr. Marina Peredo. Apparently, the drug is a prescription-strength vitamin A derivative that is known to increase cellular turnover. When cells turn over quickly, pores can eliminate the debris and oil that are known to produce acne. "Cell turnover also increases blood flow to the skin and stimulates collagen production, which makes skin firmer, reduces wrinkles and diminishes sun spots and acne scars, too," she said.

Want to give retinoic acid a try? You'll need to make an appointment with your dermatologist for an evaluation, since full-strength treatments are not available without a prescription. Dr. Peredo explained, however, that there are two over-the-counter derivatives of retinoic acid that you can find in drug store beauty products, called retinol and retinaldehyde. "They help prevent and correct the signs of photo-aging much in the same way as prescription products, but the results are not as rapid," Peredo stated.

Do yourself a favor, ladies, and pick up a version of retinoic acid that works for you. There's no need to look for another miracle product, because this is it.

The terrifying time I used a Ouija board and accidentally released a demon

0
0

It was the fall of 2009, just before Halloween, and simply put, we were bored. I wasn't in the mood to tackle that feature assignment about Sedona vortexes I had started for one of my journalism classes. And the high was somewhere around too-cold-to-go-for-a-stroll and not-cold-enough-to-stay-indoors-and-get-cabin-fever-again. So, we threw on our respective peacoats and headed to the closest store where we could kill some time: Walmart.

"So… what are we doing here?" Frank asked me.

"Maybe we should get a board game."

"Battleship?"

"Meh… Scrabble?"

"No."

"Oooh... How about the Ouija board?"

I had always found Ouija boards fascinating. I'd played with one before, but it hadn't been a particularly exciting experience. It spelled out a name we'd never heard before, everyone ran out of the room, and we didn't really talk about it again.

But this was why I needed to try it again. I had to know if these things actually worked.

We purchased the $10 Ouija board, took it home and sat cross-legged on the floor. Then we stared at each other, completely clueless of what to do next.

"Do we need to bless the home or something?" Frank asked.

"Where would we even start?" I replied. We placed our fingers onto the board. "Let’s just ask a question and see what happens."

"Are there any spirits that want to talk to us?" Frank asked.

Nothing.

"We'd like to speak to a spirit. Hello? Anyone there?"

Again, nothing.

"Maybe your apartment is too boring for this," I said. "Maybe it would work somewhere else."

We headed to a cemetery and threw a blanket down right next to the spookiest headstone. The weather was perfect: overcast, chilly, gloomy. Just the right amount of creepy.

"Are there any spirits out there who want to talk to us?" I asked. And then we tried three more times without success.

"This sucks!" I'd had it. Obviously there weren't any ghosts, but Frank wanted to try one last time.

"Are there any demons out there who want to talk to us?" he said.

I nearly screamed. "What the hell, Frank?"

"Are there any demons who want to say something?" he repeated. "Tell us your name.”

When the planchette scooted to the left, I jerked my head up to stare at him. "Don't mess with me, Frank. This isn't cool."

"I'm not doing anything."

It slid across the board, slowly, to "yes" in the top left corner.

"Yes, so someone does want to talk to us. What's your name?” Frank asked as I quietly shit my pants.

It moved back to the start, then back to "yes."

"Huh? What's your name?"

It slid to "no," quickly this time.

"Who is talking to us?"

We followed the planchette as it moved down to the row of numbers. First "6." Then to the center of the board, back to "6," looped around and then "6" again.

"Holy crap. I can't do this," I said, shaking my head. "We no longer want to talk to you," I said, vaguely remembering the "rules" to using a Ouija board — that you need to tell the spirit goodbye, let it go. "Please leave us now. Will you leave?"

At lightning speed, the planchette moved straight to "no."

Frank threw his hands up in the air, stood up and walked away from the board. "I'm done. We’re done."

"You can't just take your hands off the planchette! We were supposed to let it go. Come back so we can do that. Because if we don't, it'll stick around and follow us or something."

"No, that's bullshit. I'm done."

I sat there, dazed by what had just happened, then slowly took my fingers off the planchette and packed up the board.

"I'm freaked out. I can't be alone right now. Can we go somewhere? I need to be around as many people as possible for a really long time."

After an hour and a half roaming the mall and 30 minutes in the food court, I convinced Frank we absolutely had to try to get the "demon" to leave us — if it was following us around, and I was clearly convinced it was.

This time we headed to my apartment, which was closer to the mall. Again on the living room floor, the board between us, I started:

"Are there any spirits who want to talk to us?"

Nothing.

I asked five more times, and Frank looked at me. "What are you doing? You know it's not a spirit. It's a demon. So, are there any demons who want to talk to us?"

"Are you serious? Why do you keep doing this?"

The planchette moved slowly to "yes."

"Of course."

"What's your name?" Frank asked.

It moved down the board again, to "6," then looped around and back to "6," and again.

"6-6-6 again," I said, intent on driving this spirit — er, demon — away. "Please leave. We no longer want to talk to you. Will you leave us?"

Again, quickly, to "no."

"Please leave us now."

It moved sharply down the board in a 45-degree angle and back up to "no."

"Please leave us now!"

The planchette didn't move for a few seconds. We looked at each other, hopeful.

Until it slowly began to move down the board to the "0." We were stumped. We weren't sure what was about to happen. It moved to the left to "9," then continued to "8, 7, 6..."

"What's going on?" I asked.

"5, 4, 3..."

"I'm really freaked out. Do we let it continue counting down?

"2..."

"I have no idea."

"1."

Silence. We sat as still as the planchette. We sat there for a few seconds. "We no longer want to talk to you. Please leave us!"

My roommate's dog bolted off the couch, ran halfway up the stairs and began barking at the door.

Startled, not thinking, we took our hands off the board, and I walked up to the window and parted the blinds. "No one's at the door. No one's outside."

The dog kept barking.

I opened the door and walked out to see if anyone had passed by. Nothing. When I came back inside, the dog was upstairs, on my roommate's bed. I sat down across from Frank on the floor, and we stared at each other, not sure what to say.

"So what do we do now? Do you think we'll be OK?" I asked, when suddenly I felt freezing cold, my teeth chattering. I wrapped a blanket around me, thinking it was just the weather, from walking outside. But I couldn't seem to get warm.

"Are you cold? I'm freezing," I said to Frank.

"No, I'm good."

"But it's so cold my spine hurts."

Frank scooted the space heater over until it was directly in front of me, no more than a foot between me and it. "That should help."

But it didn't. My skin felt ice cold. Five minutes had passed, and I couldn't get warm. And for whatever reason, at that moment I called my sister.

"Wait, so the board counted down from 9 to 1? What does that mean?" she asked. We had Googled it afterward and found out from several websites that you should never let it count down or else it will (or wishes to) escape. Oops.

What we didn't know was that all we had to do was force the planchette to "goodbye” and flip the board over. (Face-palm.)

"And then the dog started barking at the door," I told her, still shaken. "It was weird, so I opened the door, but no one was there."

It was then when I realized she had me on speaker phone, because her boyfriend at the time chimed in with a loud "holy shit!"

"What? What does that mean?" I asked.

"You basically let the demon into your home," he revealed.

"Oh."

And who knew if that last part was true. I wasn't about to stick around to find out. I packed up and left that apartment about a week after it happened.

After grabbing my last bag, I opened the door and turned toward my roommates sitting on the couch.

"All right, I'm off, guys," I said with a wave. "Oh, and I accidentally let a spirit or demon into the home. 'K bye!"

I wish I could say that was it, but things have happened since then… But that's another story for another day. My advice to you? Just don't. Don't use the Ouija board. And if you do, research the dos and don'ts (something we clearly did not do). But really, I advise you stay away, even if you think you know what you're doing. You're likely still not ready.
