Debra Messing on beauty, work and being a mom >>

"I will forever be Grace Adler," Messing told Matt Lauer Wednesday morning. "I am thrilled and proud that that is the case."

Besides just being known as the wacky redhead, Messing said she is also proud of what the show accomplished — for gay rights and human rights. According to Us Weekly, she explained, "For us to have had that kind of impact, and for that character to be so beloved, it's a wonderful thing." She then opened up about her new role, saying, "Hopefully, fans of Grace will watch this and they'll enjoy it as well."

Messing also said she finds her latest character similar to Adler more and more.

"They both eat inappropriately," she said, and they "both sing as if nobody's watching," she joked.

Since Smash ended, Messing was trying to decide whether she should return to TV. But she will be back this season, this time on the show, The Mysteries of Laura. Messing said it was a tough decision, but one she is happy she made.

Celebrity moms share adorable back-to-school pictures >>

"It's feast or famine," she explained. "You're either a full-time mom — which I love being — or you're working 12 hours a day, every day. There's no middle ground.

"For me, it's always about the script and finding the right script is the thing that is the most challenging."

The Mysteries of Laura premiered Sept. 17 and will air this season on Wednesdays on NBC.

Ariana Grande tweets back at rumors she insulted fans

Big Sean says he has great chemistry with Ariana Grande >>

The story goes like this: Ariana's loving fans surround her as she heads towards an elevator. The singer smiles gamely at them as she walks into the elevator. And then, as the doors close, she allegedly says, "I hope they all f***ing die."

Yikes!

But, like other allegations of rude behavior, Ariana says it's not true. She's denied them all, like the now-discredited rumor that she threw a tantrum at a cancer telethon and another report that says she stormed out of a photo shoot (Ariana claims she just stepped out to change clothes).

Without directly mentioning the latest rumor, Ariana posted a series of tweets Tuesday that seemed to take it to task.

Ariana Grande is all grown up and she's willing to prove it >>

"Man some of these rumors that have been coming out about me lately actually have me laughing out loud. . . . really can't take em seriously," she wrote. "Sooner or later ppl will realize that what u put out is what u get back. The lies/hate etc. Give love & I promise life will treat u better."

And Ariana didn't stop there. She continued, tweeting, "I've said this before but I promise it's true. What u focus on expands. What u put out, u get back. Live for love & your life will be pretty."

In later tweets, Ariana told her fans, "here's some more love for u. even those who are unkind. here's some love for u too. u need it most," and to "share love. give luv. spread luv."

Wednesday morning, Ariana tweeted again to tell her fans, "love u loves it's tru I do."

That's a whole lot of protesting, while the rumors just keep piling on.

"As my son Cooper and I mourn the loss of my mother, we want to thank everyone for the beautiful cards and flowers conveying the heartfelt messages and condolences, which continue to arrive from around the world and through social media. My mother would have been overwhelmed by the scope and depth of the love that people have expressed for her. It is certainly helping to lift our spirits during this time.

Kerry Washington fights domestic violence in unique way (VIDEO)

The Scandal star sported a purple Prada clutch at both the Emmys and the NAACP Image Awards this year and she's been seen toting a deep amethyst bag around New York City this week. The bags, Time reports, are much more than a fashion statement.

In light of a number of high-profile allegations of domestic abuse allegations against NFL players, Ray Rice and Ray McDonald, the media conversation has focused heavily on the factors that cause battered women to stay in abusive relationships.

15 #WhyIStayed tweets that'll give you goosebumps >>

On Monday night, Washington hosted the launch of the 2014 Allstate Foundation Purple Purse Program, designed to educate women about another side of domestic violence: financial abuse.

In a public service announcement, the Django Unchained actress explains why financial abuse can further complicate abusive relationships.

"One in four women will be a victim of domestic violence," she explains in the video. "Finances are almost always a weapon of choice. Taking away access to cash, destroying credit, jeopardizing jobs; financial abuse leaves invisible bruises that can take decades to heal."

The NFL has sidelined women's safety — again >>

The purse is a metaphor for financial abuse. And purple, the actress explains, is the color used for domestic violence awareness.

Washington is married to former NFL player, Nnamdi Asomugha, making her a great spokeswoman for the campaign in light of the domestic abuse investigations that have rocked the NFL this month. She's also the designer of a limited edition purple purse that will be used to raise money for the campaign. According to Time, only 500 of the purses will be made, and while some will be sold as a fundraiser for the Allstate Foundation Purple Purse Program, others will be handed out to celebrities to carry on the red carpet to draw attention to the initiative.

Anyone who watches Scandal on ABC knows Olivia Pope, played by Kerry Washington, wears her professional attire like a total boss, and we'll admit to tuning into the juicy series for its amazing fashion (and the drama, natch). Starting next week, we'll be able to take home similar styles for ourselves when the collection launches in The Limited stores and online Sept. 23.

Kerry Washington and Lyn Paolo

Kerry Washington and Lyn Paolo

Kerry Washington had a large part in designing the collection alongside Scandal's costume designer Lyn Paolo, who described the designs as "aspirational, sophisticated and feminine" in an interview with People StyleWatch.

The Limited: Scandal collection

Olivia's signature sleek outerwear, feminine blouses and wide-legged trousers dominate the 78-piece collection, and most of the pieces are interchangeable, so we're pretty sure professional ladies will snag the office-ready pieces fast.

The Limited: Scandal collection 2

While obviously inspired by the show's main character, the collection was also greatly inspired by the fans of the show, Paolo told People StyleWatch: "Our inspiration came from the fans, our amazing Gladiators, who were asking for a way to look like [the character]."

The Limited: Scandal collection 3

Washington, in particular, is pretty jazzed about the coats in the collection, describing them as a way her character manages to stay polished and put together: "Olivia is too busy to follow trends and looks for key pieces to incorporate into her wardrobe — look at her amazing outerwear collection! It's important to have a statement coat that carries across seasons."

The Limited: Scandal collection 4

We couldn't agree more. And with prices starting at just $49, it's safe to say looking like Olivia Pope just got a lot more affordable.

The Mysteries of Laura review: Some people might like it

$
0
0

I did my best to stay away from any reviews of this show before watching the pilot myself, but they were hard to miss when so many people were able to watch the first episode early. For days now, I've been seeing titles of reviews in my Twitter and Facebook feeds and it seems that all of them were saying how terrible it was.

Another '90s heartthrob joins the CSI: Cyber cast >>

So as I sat down to watch it, I did so with a heavy heart. When I first heard that Debra Messing (who I adored on Will & Grace) had a new series out, I couldn't wait to see it. But suddenly I was expecting my entire evening to be ruined.

I guess sometimes it does pay to hear bad reviews of a show before you actually see it. Even though I didn't read one review (not even those written by close friends of mine), I had a strong impression of this show: It sucked. The problem with having such influence is that it builds up something in your mind. You ever heard of something being "not as good as the hype?"

Well, I think The Mysteries of Laura isn't as bad as the trash talk.

Does it have some issues? Sure. But it also had some good points, too. As much as I thought I would dislike it, I found myself giggling and enjoying many scenes. Perhaps it's because I'm a huge Debra Messing fan, but I really liked Laura. She's the kind of person that I feel like I would be friends with if I knew her in real life. Her life is screwed up, but she does her best to persevere and makes the best of every disaster. In some ways, she reminded me of Grace Adler, except with two boys and a gun.

The Veronica Mars spinoff trailer was funny and depressing >>

What I liked:

Laura singing "I Am the Warrior" to herself in the car. I mean who hasn't done that?

The Clue-themed split-screen that happened after the murder at the mansion. That was fun.

Laura finding a preschool teacher who illegally parks in handicapped zones and using it as a way to get her sons into school.

Two words: Pee-pee sword fight.

Laura getting into that water in the club. I know I would have done the same thing.

What I didn't like:

The incessant Target references.

There's such a thing as too much of a good thing and in this show there was just too much of everything: Comedy, drama, action, mystery. The show needs to narrow down the list and concentrate on just one or two of those things at a time.

The kids. Sorry, I love children but those boys were nightmares. I would be friends with Laura, but I'd never let her little monsters into my house.

The ending. I mean come on, the murderer was her own captain? I've already seen that trick a few times before.

Overall thoughts:

There's enough good stuff in this show to keep me watching so that's what I'm going to do. I'm going to do another review after Episode 3 so stay tuned to see if I think it gets better or worse after a couple of more episodes.

What did you think of The Mysteries of Laura? Will you keep watching the new series?

3 Comics you can read right now to catch up on your geek game (Batman edition)

$

Uhhh... you've seen the new Batgirl, right? >>

Batman has always been our guy. Many of us didn't grow up reading comics, but we still played favorites when it came to Supes and Batman. We liked that his superiority came from a practiced skill, not alien genetics. Plus, as girls, it's ingrained in us to fall for tall, dark and mysterious guys. And that's cool, but you should be able to back up that knowledge in case you ever make that claim in front of someone who has actually read a comic book. These renditions are where it's at when it comes to knowing what's up with Batman and Gotham.

Batman: The Court of Owls — Scott Snyder

In 2011, DC comics rebranded and relaunched their entire collection, dubbing the makeover "The New 52." Court of Owls was Batman's first official appearance in the new lineup and it blew away nearly everyone. This is the Dark Knight you grew up watching on the big screen, but fighting a criminal collective you may not be as familiar with. The Court of Owls run everything that comes in and out of Gotham... and they don't have the city's best interests at heart. Add in a hard-to-kill assassin named Talon and you've got one hard (but never impossible) mission left at Batman's boots. Also, the coloring with the navy blues and purples is particularly awesome. A good comic store will have the first chapter on hand for $1 if you want to try it out.

Also cool: Sony's new female-led Spider-Man movie >>

The Dark Knight Returns — Frank Miller

Chronologically based on release date, this one should come first, as it was originally released in 1986. However, The Dark Knight Returns features an older, more mature Batman — making it perfect for following up the new series. In TDKR, Bruce Wayne is 55 and has retired as a superhero, along with all the other heroes. He's working with the U.S. government, but it's just not as fulfilling as donning the cape. As crime begins to rise in Gotham once again, Wayne knows what he's destined to do and soon finds himself back in black and on a mission to rid Gotham of Harvey Dent/Two-Face and all the other menacing creatures lurking about. The film, The Dark Knight Rises, uses some of the plot points from the comic, but you're doing yourself an injustice to skip the book.

Gotham Central — Ed Brubaker and Greg Rucka

Not exactly a Batman story, Gotham Central focuses on the Gotham Police Department, telling stories of the officers and detectives working the streets of Gotham every day. This, dear readers, would be the absolute perfect jumping off point if you catch Fox's new series, Gotham. Don't expect many crossovers, just some similarities. However, if you like comics more for the crime-fighting skew than the superhero skew, Gotham Central (and Gotham, the show) might be your gateway into a whole new world.

Batman has been around for decades, so it can be a little overwhelming to go into the comic book store without some direction. Once you delve into these new, awesome stories, don't let that be the end of your journey. Dive into the Batman back catalogs... or find a new hero to explore for a while. The options are limitless, which is kind of the best part.

Proof that Adam Levine is replacing Blake Shelton with Pharrell

$

0

Though all the judges were exceedingly complimentary of one another (with some playful edges of competition thrown in for good measure), Pharrell's budding relationship with Levine was the one that caught our eye.

Here's your chance to try out for The Voice... boot camp-style >>

"I knew Adam [Levine] before," Pharrell said. "We knew each other, and we talked, but, like I didn't know him in this way that I know him and, like, I knew he was a good person, but an amazing person is how I would define him now, and Blake [Shelton] the same way. This has just been..." Pharrell tapered off, but we're assuming you can fill in the blank with some more words of praise for the experience.

"Thanks, bro. Blake [Shelton] never said s*** like that to me," Levine responded.

"It's been great," Pharrell reiterated.

"I think you're amazing, too," Levine said.

Rest in peace, Shevine.

It's confirmed: Gwen Stefani is the new judge on The Voice >>

And, for the record, Levine hates that couple name. "Time out. Time out. I've got to nix that. I can't do that with the 'Shevine' s***. We've got to come up with something better. Let's workshop it.

Don't worry, we're calling it. Now it's all about Phavine. Maybe he'll like that one more?

"I like it, and I want it to stay," Shelton said, speaking of his couple name with Levine. But we can't help but wonder if he was speaking also of the fading bromance between he and Levine.

"Can I just say some nice things about you real quick?" Levine asked Pharrell at one point in the interview. "He's so talented, Pharrell, that he writes the kind of songs that you know when you hear something, you hear a song and you start humming the tune when you walk away — his songs are so crazy that you don't even need to hear it to start humming it. You can just be in the middle of your day and you could have heard the song five years ago... and you'll just be like, 'Beautiful,' and, like, that's how catchy and memorable they are."

The Voice Season 7

Another thing we noticed during the interview was the amazing banter that flowed so easily between all of the judges. It's clear to see their personalities will shine through without a problem on camera.

"It's time for someone else to win," Stefani said of her competitiveness for the upcoming season.

"No, it's not," Levine quickly, but casually, responded, defending his title as reigning Voice judge champion. He's won the most seasons of anyone.

"That's the competitive nature," Pharrell quickly added, backing up his main man Levine, "but it's so awesome because it's never offensive. He says exactly what he wants and he's never offensive."

Blake Shelton and Adam Levine have a fiery bromance >>

Stefani cut in on that one, "He's offensive to me sometimes. He is so inappropriate and I have been in a band for my whole life and I know inappropriate. He's just to another level."

Levine didn't even try to deny it. "I set new bars for inappropriateness," he agreed.

At one point, Levine was answering a question about his career success when the reporter who asked began talking with someone else. Levine was quick to call her out, "Stay with me," he said. "Now I feel bad. I'm very insecure."

"He is," Stefani said.

So, it seems that while Pharrell will have Levine's back in the upcoming season. Stefani will be the challenger, always keeping these boys in check. If the dynamic is half as fun as their interview was, we're in for a good Season 7 of The Voice.

The first episode airs Sept. 22 on NBC.

Sleepy Hollow's Lyndie Greenwood tells us why you'll need wine for Season 2

Fox's hit series based on the legend of Ichabod Crane ended on a high last season with an intense episode that left every main character in some sort of jeopardy. According to Greenwood, fans can expect things to get more intense from there.

War is who? Biggest shockers from Sleepy Hollow finale >>

"The level of intensity is high," Greenwood revealed, adding that fans might want to look at ways to keep themselves calm during the premiere. "They could use some wine for stress relief," she said.

Greenwood plays Abbie's sister Jenny, who we last saw having a terrible car accident at the hands of the Headless Horseman. Luckily, she does survive, and Greenwood promised that Abbie's sister will have some good episodes this season, especially for those fans who want to know even more about Jenny and Abbie's backstory.

"The first episode, for sure, is a really good one for Jenny," Greenwood said. "And the one we're shooting right now, [Episode 9], is going to be really awesome. Episode 9 is a big episode for the sisters and gives more of their backstory."

In the first season, Greenwood got to play a scene that had always been on her wish list. "One of my favorite [scenes] was when Jenny was possessed. I always wanted to play possessed, so I kind of got to check that off my bucket list, it was really fun," she said.

But if you thought that scene was great, Greenwood says there are more awesome Jenny scenes to come in Season 2. "There are some good scenes for Jenny this year. One of them is in the first episode, [which was] a lot of fun. And one is in Episode 5. It's the only scene that Jenny has in that episode, but it's a good one."

SPOILERS: How Sleepy Hollow is pushing more boundaries in Season 2 >>

When viewers first met Jenny, she and Abbie were estranged, and it took a lot of time before the two of them could trust again. Their relationship may continue to be challenged, but they won't be easily broken apart again.

"Finding that love again in that family is not something that either of them is going to let go of very easily," Greenwood said about the sisters' bond. "So I think it would take something extremely drastic to tear the sisters apart at this point. Of course, there will always be rivalries, and there will always be bickering, but from now on I think there's just going to be a lot of love between the two."

Sleepy Hollow is known for being extremely creepy and scary at times, but apparently the frights don't just happen on camera. Greenwood and her co-star Katia Winter (who plays Katrina Crane on the series) are also roommates, and they've had to deal with a very spooky visitor in their home. "We may have a ghost," Greenwood said. "We actually probably very much do have a ghost, a legitimate ghost in the house. Maybe it's gone now. Or become more accustomed to us."

How did they end up with a specter in their home? "Wilmington, I think is just a haunted place," Greenwood said. "So we're both on edge a little bit. We did a sage smudge and things seemed to be better."

But even after the ghostly apparition stopped making itself known, Greenwood still had reason to fear being in her own home. "Katia likes to prank people," Greenwood said. "She doesn't really do it on set too often, but she scares the crap out of me at home all the time."

Winter's latest prank would keep anyone up all night. "The other night she took one of the heads of one of the statues that's in here, and put it in my bed and didn't tell me. I didn't realize she was filming the whole thing, and I walked into my room and just screamed. You can hear her cackling [on the video], she's so happy about it," Greenwood said with a laugh.

Even the Headless Horseman himself isn't above getting scared by one of Winter's pranks. "She was in the van with Neal Jackson, who plays Abraham — or Headless before he was headless. She made this sort of snarling noise beside him. She can make the most horrific faces. She does these faces that are just demonic. It flustered him as well."

INTERVIEW: Sleepy Hollow's Tom Mison says affair would be "fiery" >>

Believe it or not though, Winter isn't the biggest jokester on set. Another co-star gets that reward. "Orlando is always just extremely funny. I would have to say he takes the cake that way," Greenwood said.

And yet another co-star gets an honorable mention in the funny department. "You know who's surprisingly funny and in a much more subdued, subtle way is Tom Mison. He's got this dry, British wit and sometimes it takes you a minute to even realize he's made a joke, and it's the funniest thing you've ever heard."

Sleepy Hollow Season 2 premieres Monday, Sept. 22, at 8/9c on Fox.

Gerard Depardieu has an insatiable thirst for wine

Anderson Cooper gets the giggles during Gerard Depardieu report >>

To fill his boredom, the Life of Pi actor claims he gets help from the wine bottle and can drink up to a whopping 14 bottles a day.

"When I'm bored, I drink. Apart from compulsory moments of abstinence. After bypass surgery, and also because of cholesterol and stuff, I have to be careful," he revealed to So Film magazine.

"I'm not going to die. Not now. I still have energy," he continued.

Daniel Radcliffe on drinking problem: "I became a nuisance" >>

It's no secret Depardieu loves wine because he happens to own a vineyard. But he went on to explain that even though he can drink copious amounts of alcohol, he is never really drunk.

"I can't drink like a normal person. I can absorb 12, 13, 14 bottles... per day. But I'm never totally drunk, just a little pissed. All you need is a 10 minute nap and voilà, a slurp of rosé wine and I feel as fresh as a daisy!"

However, that's not to say he hasn't made headlines for his drunken antics before. Remember when he urinated on a plane in 2011? And when he also was detained by police in 2012 for taking a drunken joy ride on his scooter?

Gerard Depardieu pee incident was 'humiliating' >>

Depardieu, who stars in the upcoming film about Dominique Strauss-Kahn, Welcome to New York, also revealed why he used to get in fights — just make sure you drink the Champagne he offers you!

"It's in my nature, bold and expansive, particularly at that time. When you're full of life, it can have a positive effect — like offering someone 1,000 roses. That can be good — or it can be bad, like bashing an ashtray on a cop's head because he refuses to drink the champagne you're offering him. But usually I'm never the one who starts the fight."

"I never discussed it out of embarrassment of how stupid I was at the time to have done such a thing for myself," she confessed to her fellow co-hosts. "I want to share this with everyone because it's a lesson learned. I learned a great lesson from this."

"I was 27, I was just going out with Ozzy at the time… and when we first got together, we would drink a lot together," she began. "We had a session of partying… and it's about 4 in the morning and he says to me, 'How much do you really love me?'…And I'm saying, 'I'd do anything for you, anything, I absolutely adore you…I'd give my life for you.'"

And so, in a dramatic and drink-fueled attempt to prove her love for her now-husband, Sharon did something she deeply regrets.

EMTs ruled the situation an attempted suicide, and she had to be hospitalized, but the permanent scars and emotional impact have lasted much longer.

Now, if that hasn't already blown your mind, according to Women's Wear Daily, the diamond shoes have more than 14,000 full-cut round white diamonds set onto white gold with a total carat weight of 340 carats, which doesn't exactly make these shoes lightweight.

Nick Cannon, Mariah Carey ditch their weddings rings >>

The shoes were created by Jason Arasheben, founder of the jewelry business Jason of Beverly Hills. And after almost a year and more than 2,000 hours of work, Arasheben was proud of his handiwork.

"I"m expecting a 'wow' factor for tonight," Arasheben told WWD. "Not very often do I get a request for the most expensive shoes in the world. When Nick approached me last year, he said he wanted to make history and be so over-the-top. He wanted to set a new standard in diamonds. 'How can we make the most expensive pair of shoes in the world and make this finale special?' he asked me."

However, Cannon was not just the best-dressed person on TV, ever. He also has big plans for these shoes and is intending to donate them to charity.

Kirsten Dunst has babies on the brain >>

"I try to have a sense of humor about a really unfortunate situation," Dunst told Us Weekly. "The FBI is investigating, so they're handling it right now."

Soon after the celebs had their photos stolen, Dunst tweeted about the incident with a clever blend of emoticons.

Kirsten Dunst comments on being a part of the nude hack

(If you sound it out, it sounds sort of like "piece of s***" — clever girl.)

The FBI said they are "addressing" the allegations and it looks like many of the victims are working with authorities in an attempt to catch whoever hacked into their technology. Dunst, along with Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Upton, Krysten Ritter, Teresa Palmer, Becca Tobin, Hope Solo and others found their privacy violated in the hack.

Because Apple also operates iCloud, where many of the photos were held, they assured everyone that they are also investigating.

Kirsten Dunst stands up for gender roles >>

"After more than 40 hours of investigation, we have discovered that certain celebrity accounts were compromised by a very targeted attack on user names, passwords and security questions, a practice that has become all too common on the Internet," Apple said in a statement soon after the incident. "None of the cases we have investigated has resulted from any breach in any of Apple's systems including iCloud or Find my iPhone. We are continuing to work with law enforcement to help identify the criminals involved."

Dunst will be starring next in The Two Faces of January with Viggo Mortensen, which is expected out in theaters Sept. 26.

Chicken pot pie empanadas are a snacking game changer

Chicken pot pies are a classic American staple on the dinner table. I decided to put a twist on this American classic by creating chicken pot pie empanadas. Not only are they a fun take on dinner, but you can also reheat them if you want to eat them on the run.

Don't worry about a big, creamy mess coming out of the empanada. Most of the liquid gets soaked up into the chicken and vegetables, leaving you with the perfect filling. Treat your family, or let your kids help you with this next meal.

Chicken pot pie empanadas recipe

Yields 20

Ingredients:

  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 3/4 cup diced onion
  • 32 onces chicken broth
  • 2 cups diced potatoes
  • 1-1/4 cups diced carrots
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup 2 percent milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon parsley flakes
  • 1/2 teaspoon coriander seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pure ground black pepper
  • 3/4 cup frozen peas
  • 1 cup frozen corn kernels
  • 1 rotisserie chicken, shredded
  • 2 refrigerated packs pie crust

Directions:

  1. To a large Dutch oven over medium heat, add the olive oil. Stir in the onions, and cook until tender. Pour in the broth, and then add the potatoes and carrots. Cook for 15 minutes.
  2. In another sauté pan, melt the butter over low heat. Whisk in the flour and then the milk. When the mixture thickens, stir in the parsley, coriander, salt, pepper, peas and corn.
  3. Add the mixture to the big pot with the potatoes, and add the chicken. Cook on low for 15 minutes.
  4. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F.
  5. Lay out the pie crusts, and create 4-inch round circles. Spoon about 1 tablespoon of the chicken pot pie mixture into the center of each circle. Fold the circle in half to secure the edges, and pierce it with a fork to seal it. Pierce the top of each empanada with knife to allow air in while cooking.
  6. Place the empanadas onto a baking sheet, and bake for 12 minutes.

People should stop freaking out about Miss America's past

A look behind the Miss America crown >>

Pro-life website, LifeNews.com, wrote a story on Monday, Sept. 15, after noticing that Kazantsev had listed Planned Parenthood on her résumé. According to Kazantsev's LinkedIn page, she was an education intern with the organization in Hempstead, New York, in 2013.

So, why is this a big deal?

Although some associate Planned Parenthood with abortion, the organization offers health services for millions of women across the country. As for Kazantsev, her responsibilities included assisting "delivery of programs in local public schools, teaching children about mutual respect & self esteem" and conducting "research on Planned Parenthood Education," according to the Huffington Post.

Kazantsev's platform during the Miss America pageant was based on domestic violence and so her Planned Parenthood role makes sense for her. The current Miss New York spoke openly about her past abusive relationship and how it has driven her to educate people.

"I didn't even know it was happening to me," Kazantsev told People. "It took outside words and opinions from friends and family for me to realize what I was going through. People often think, it's none of my business — that's their personal relationship. Well, it is your business to step in and say something. Even if it's just to hand them a hotline card."

Strong Women, Strong Girls: Mentoring program for girls >>

In a recent interview with NPR, Kazantsev explained, "I want people to stop asking, 'Why doesn't she just leave?' Every woman is an expert in her own case, and there are so many extenuating circumstances that lead to a woman staying with her abuser."

Kazantsev is obviously passionate about not just women's rights, but human rights. Her past with Planned Parenthood seems to be a natural role for her passions and likely allowed her to work with women and children in all areas of life.

Aubrey Plaza takes lead in Grumpy Cat film

Aubrey Plaza: Humor is my defense mechanism >>

A Grumpy Cat movie is coming and it's been announced that Aubrey Plaza will voice the famous feline.

Grumpy Cat, whose real name is Tardar Sauce, exploded to internet fame due to a disorder called feline dwarfism that forced her face into a permanent, adorable little cat frown. Spend about 10 seconds on the internet and you're bound to see a Grumpy Cat meme. The deformed feline's Facebook page has millions of likes and Grumpy cat has appeared on the covers of both the Wall Street Journal and New York Magazine.

Naturally, she is a star bound for the silver screen. Or, at least, the made-for-TV screen, because that's where her film will air.

Aubrey Plaza kicked out of MTV Movie Awards >>

The network usually reserved for raunchy biopics and movies about illicit student-teacher love affairs or seventh graders with STDs, Lifetime, will premiere the flick in late November. MTV reports it'll be Christmas themed and Plaza will lend her voice to Grumpy Cat, who, in the movie, is a sad pet store cat who can communicate with one special human, a 12-year-old named Chrystal.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Plaza landed the role after it was turned down by Glee's resident grump, Jane Lynch.

Sources told the Hollywood Reporter that Lynch was set to get a nice, big paycheck for doing the film, but that she backed out of the job after receiving an Emmy for Outstanding Reality Host for Hollywood Game Night. Come on, Jane, who wouldn't want to do voice-overs for a cat whose claim to fame is a birth defect?

If her Twitter account is any indication, Plaza is already getting into the role. She posted a meme Wednesday that shows Grumpy Cat squashing some poor kitten's dreams of Santa, because what else?

The Walking Dead's Sonequa Martin-Green is pregnant: Is Sasha expecting, too?

More cool news: The Walking Dead spinoff will get out of Georgia >>

We have a few speculations on what Martin-Green's pregnancy could mean for her current gig on The Walking Dead. Sasha fans may not like all of our guesses, but let's explore!

Ignore the pregnancy

The Walking Dead cast is already filming Season 5 and, considering they had enough footage to put together a promo to release in July at Comic-Con, it's safe to assume they're almost done. Martin-Green could, potentially, have already given birth before they begin filming for Season 6. If she's not quite ready to return to work, they could also leave her out of the story line for a few/all episodes. It wouldn't be the first time someone set out on an adventure and didn't appear on the show for a while.

Explore the pregnancy

Towards the end of Season 4, Martin-Green's character, Sasha, shared a sweet moment where Bob kissed her. There is now a whole season ahead of them for the show to explore and develop their relationship before Martin-Green would begin to show. They could easily incorporate her pregnancy into the show.

The Walking Dead Season 4 finale: Rick reverts to BAMF >>

Would it be a walker baby? We already know what happens when a baby is born alive, but with the virus:  They're just normal babies. But, what happens if a virus-exposed baby dies (in or out of the womb)? That's not an uncommon plot point in other zombie stories. Could make for some interesting, albeit darker-than-ever, television.

Kill her off

Don't shoot the messenger! Here's the thing: Either for contractual reasons or simply because maybe Martin-Green doesn't want to carry her child in the crazy, violent environment on the set of The Walking Dead, Martin-Green could be on her way out. As recent as August, fans reported seeing her and Norman Reedus on the roof of an old hospital during filming. So, we're probably wrong on this. However, we don't think it's out of the question. It's not as if people never die on the show.

Wherever the plotline falls for Sasha, we couldn't be more excited for Martin-Green and her hubby, Kenric Green. All the best!

Matthew McConaughey is hanging up his G-string

Matthew McConaughey's latest gig: Car salesman >>

Magic Mike XXL director, Gregory Jacobs, confirmed to Indiewire Wednesday that McConaughey said no to a comeback as Dallas, owner of the Florida strip club in the first Magic Mike, which starred Channing Tatum (Mike), Matt Bomer (Ken), Joe Manganiello (Big Dick Richie) and Alex Pettyfer (Adam).

And now for the good news.

McConaughey may be out, but CBS reports that Tatum, Bomer and Manganiello will be back and that there's still a chance Pettyfer will get on board.

McConaughey vs. DiCaprio: An Oscar throwdown? >>

Magic Mike became a huge box office hit in 2012. It was co-written by Tatum and was loosely based on his own experiences working as a stripper before hitting it big in Hollywood. He's helping write the sequel, too, which will reportedly be about a huge male stripper competition. Expect to see some skin, as if that's a surprise.

"It's road trip movie," director, Jacobs, said in the interview. "It's different enough that once you see it you'll understand why we made a sequel. No one will be accusing us of making the same movie twice."

But will the movie have the same appeal without McConaughey? That remains to be seen. Dallas was definitely a star of the original film and, despite his, shall we say, maturity compared to his co-stars, McConaughey proved he can hang with the youngest and hottest in Hollywood in a G-string and a bow tie.

Magic Mike XXL started shooting this month and is set to hit theaters July 1, 2015.
