Unemployed women should be sterilized, says Arizona government official

Russel Pearce

Russel Pearce

But Russell Pearce, the now former vice-chair of the Arizona GOP has taken this hateful crap to a whole new level of stupid.

On a recent airing of his talk radio show, Pearce said if he were in charge of Medicaid (I imagine a lot of chest puffing here as he makes his big pronouncement) he would force poor women to be sterilized. It's not completely clear who he's going to force on Norplant, but it appears in that murky mess of logic he's spewing that he's talking generally about poor, single mothers. You know, the ones who have had it way too easy for way too long with their working all day to make ends meet and raising the next generation all by themselves.

“You put me in charge of Medicaid, the first thing I'd do is get Norplant, birth-control implants, or tubal ligations," Pearce reportedly said on his talk show. "Then we'll test recipients for drugs and alcohol, and if you want to [have babies] or use drugs or alcohol, then get a job."

As someone in a role to help Republicans get elected in a state increasingly moving to the left, his repugnant comments probably won't do much to woo the lady vote. Or the gentleman vote, come to think of it. As the comments started to circulate more widely, Pearce, in all of his wisdom, decided to resign his position with the Arizona Republicans. Probably a good idea.

Naturally, Pearce is trying to blame the comments on someone else. You know, because he's a guy who stands up for what he believes.

"Recently on my radio show there was a discussion about the abuses to our welfare system," Pearce wrote in his statement resigning his position with the Arizona GOP. "I shared comments written by someone else and failed to attribute them to the author. This was a mistake. This mistake has been taken by the media and the left and used to hurt our Republican candidates."

But if this were the first time Pearce acted like a buffoon, it might be easier to forgive.

Pearce, you see, used to be an Arizona state senator, the president of the Arizona Senate in fact, but was recalled after he sponsored the controversial SB1070, also known as the "show me your papers" bill which allowed law enforcement to demand anyone that happened to cross their paths (read: brown people) to provide proof of citizenship, a remarkable violation of the Constitution. Not to mention making bad law, he turned Arizona into a shining example of racism and stupidity.

And so, I say to Russell Pearce, good luck with your lame radio show, and may you never hold public office in Arizona or on Planet Earth again.

Oh, and by the way, no one was ever going to put you in charge of Medicaid. Just go back to yelling at neighborhood kids to stay off your lawn. Peace out.

Jenny McCarthy already lost her ginormous wedding ring

Jenny McCarthy announces her new show on SiriusXM >>

The actress admits the huge symbol of her commitment to Wahlberg vanished because she was having sex. McCarthy says she removed the bauble to get frisky and that's when things went awry.

"I've already lost the ring," she said on local Fox program, Good Day NY, on Tuesday. "We were staying in a hotel and you can't have wedding ring on... it's a little hard to get romantic with diamonds on your hand. I removed it and put it on the room service table and they came and turned down the room and the ring was gone."

Cue the mass hysteria, right? Wrong! "You know what, though? If you're gonna lose your wedding ring, you should lose it that way," quipped McCarthy.

It's impressive that McCarthy is so unfussed about the missing ring. It's not like we're talking about Cracker Jack jewelry, here. When Wahlberg popped the question to the former View co-host back in April, photos surfaced of McCarthy getting a manicure wearing the jaw-dropping rock. "It's a yellow sapphire," McCarthy explained when she announced her engagement on The View.

Obviously, McCarthy and Wahlberg are still enjoying their newlywed bliss. The couple tied the knot at the beginning of September in a small ceremony surrounded by close family and friends in St. Charles, Illinois. Guests included Sherri Shepherd and Wahlberg's NKOTB bandmates, Danny Wood and Jordan Knight.

We appreciate that McCarthy isn't materialistic enough to throw a hissy fit when she couldn't find her ring. We'd wonder if her hubby was upset about it, but it's highly probable he was too distracted to notice it was even missing.

No one is safe from Mayim Bialik: This time, she attacks Frozen

Twitter agrees with Mayim Bialik: Cover up, Ariana Grande! >>

The Big Bang Theory actress wrote a blog for Kveller.com titled, "Why My Sons and I Hate the Movie Frozen." The blog went through, step by step, her reasoning for why she feels it is such a horrible movie. The first reason? The "plot and feminism."

"Sure, it's sort of hidden, but the search for a man/love/Prince is still the reigning plot line in the movie, as it is with pretty much all movies for young people which are animated," Bialik wrote. "The sister's desire to marry this guy she just met, and the other sister getting mad at her — we still have a plot about the identification of a woman being based on her desire and search to meet a man.”

Bialik did add that she is not a fan of most musicals and her "hate" for Frozen isn't only for that one movie. Her dislike for most musicals seems to go back to the feminism issue.

"I've had just enough already with this finding a man business in most every kids' movie," she adds. "Disney classics were all about this and look where it's gotten us! Naked billboards of singers and women still not paid equal pay for equal work and ridiculous standards of beauty and body image and campaigns such as 'Why I Don't Need Feminism' and tons of other things proving we still have a ways to go."

Mayim Bialik says breastfeeding is "not a sexual act" >>

Despite Bialik's distaste for the feminism issues in the film, she also did add that she didn't like the film because of its male bashing (because not all men turn out to be villains) and the way the women look (like "dolls," she said). She explained how the men "look like they have the proportions of human beings," but the women "have ginormous eyes. Like really ridiculously big. Teeny-tiny ski slope noses. Exaggerated delicate ski sloppiness, actually. Barbie doll proportions of their bodies in general: tiny waists, ample busts, and huge heads. They look like dolls. They don't look like the same species as the male characters even! What's up with that?! My sons thought the females looked like BRATZ dolls, truth be told. I kind of agree."

Bialik continued, "I know everybody loved Frozen and that I am going to get so much hate for this. But I'm just keeping it real, yo."

You won't miss the meat in these loaded vegan tacos

I made an easy vegan sour cream to drizzle over the top of these handheld taco treats, but you can use prepared vegan sour cream if you like. I blended silken tofu, salt and pepper, a bit of lemon juice and a bit of apple cider vinegar to make the sour cream, then refrigerated it for a short time.

Sprinkle fresh cilantro over the tops of the filling mixture, and serve with lime wedges for added fresh flavor. These tacos are easy to make, and you'll love the unique ingredients.

Vegan eggplant, asparagus and black bean tacos recipe

Serves 2-4

Ingredients:

  • 4 (6 inch) whole-wheat tortillas, warmed prior to serving
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil, divided
  • 1 small eggplant, stem end removed, cut into 1/2-inch rounds
  • 1 bunch thin asparagus, stem ends removed
  • 1/4 cup diced onion
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt, plus extra to season the vegetables
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper, plus extra to season the vegetables
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 2 tablespoons sauce from 1 (4 ounce) can chipotle peppers in adobo sauce (reserve the remaining sauce and peppers for another recipe)
  • 1 (15 ounce) can black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 tablespoon cilantro, chopped, plus extra for garnish
  • Lime wedges, for garnish (optional)
  • Vegan sour cream, for garnish (optional)

Directions:

  1. Preheat a grill to medium heat. Lightly brush 1 tablespoon of olive oil over both sides of the eggplant rounds and the asparagus spears, and season with salt and pepper.
  2. Grill the vegetables, flipping once, until done. The asparagus will take only about 4 minutes to grill, while the eggplant will take approximately 10 to 12 minutes.
  3. Remove the vegetables from the grill, and chop them into bite-size pieces. Set them aside.
  4. In a skillet over medium heat, add the remaining olive oil. When the oil is hot, add the onion, and cook for several minutes or until the onion softens. Add the garlic, and stir. Add the salt, black pepper and cumin to the mixture, and stir.
  5. Add the adobo sauce, stirring, along with the black beans. Remove the mixture from the heat, and stir in the eggplant, asparagus and cilantro, tossing to combine.
  6. Equally divide, and spoon the vegetable mixture between the warmed tortillas.
  7. Serve immediately garnished with extra cilantro, lime wedges and vegan sour cream.

Spoon flavorful ingredients into your next taco meal.

But what I don't love is the finding half of an $8 pack of the stuff dried out after the kids have touched it twice and forgotten to pop on the tops. The solution? DIY it. With a few typical pantry items and some glitter, you have an easy-to-make and inexpensive way to entertain the kiddos.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup salt
  • 1 tablespoon cream of tartar
  • Glitter

Directions:

20 Years of Friends: 16 hottest '90s heartthrob cameos

$
0
0

I am trying very hard to come to terms with the fact that Friends is 20 years old. That simply cannot be true, because that would mean I was 20 years older than I was when it premiered and I feel exactly the same as I did back then. So, even though I'm convinced that all of this is some sort of strange trick to make me think I'm older than I actually am, I've come to accept the fact that Friends is indeed celebrating its 20th anniversary.

What Friends taught me about love >>

If you live in New York, you'll get the chance to celebrate this milestone in a very cool and hip way. According to Time, a pop-up version of Central Perk (the iconic coffee shop from the series) will be opening its doors on Wednesday, Sept. 17 and will be open until Saturday, Oct. 18.

Fans will have one whole month to enjoy the atmosphere of the famous coffee house while checking out displays of memorabilia from the show. On display will be signed scripts, behind-the-scenes photos and costumes from the show. You can also catch a glimpse of paraphernalia, such as a VHS copy of Phoebe's twin sister Ursula's naughty X-rated movie, Buffay the Vampire Layer.

For those of us who can't make it to New York, we'll just have to live with watching reruns of the show over and over again. We can also look back at some of the hottest '90s heartthrobs who made cameos on the show.

George Clooney and Noah Wyle

The stars of NBC's popular show, ER, made an appearance and sent fans' hearts fluttering when they treated Rachel's sprained ankle.

Freddie Prinze, Jr.

Prinze, Jr. had a memorable role as Emma's "manny," who made Rachel's knees weak and Ross kinda want to throw up.

Chris Isaak

One of the hottest singers of the '90s played a singer-songwriter who gave Phoebe permission to sing her very candid song lyrics to children. The kids loved it; the parents not so much.

Jean-Claude Van Damme

The uber-hot action star played himself when Monica and Rachel ran into him on the set of his latest film. There began the greatest fight of all time as the two roomies fought over who would get to date him.

You can celebrate Friends' 20th anniversary at Central Perk >>

Brad Pitt

Who can forget Jennifer Aniston's real-life husband (at the time)? He played an old high school friend of Ross' who hated Rachel so much he actually formed a club. It was awesome.

Jon Favreau

Favreau may be known for the Iron Man movies now, but back in the '90s, he was super hot after his movie, Swingers, became a smash hit. He played Monica's ridiculously rich boyfriend, which made women jealous all over the world.

Ben Stiller

Stiller is known for mostly playing good guys (such as in the '90s hit, There's Something About Mary). So, it was especially hilarious to see him play a man with a temper so bad he tended to scream.

Giovanni Ribisi

Ribisi played Phoebe's younger half-brother, who was both an idiot and the sweetest guy you ever wanted to meet.

Steve Zahn

Zahn was Phoebe's gay ex-husband with a shocking secret: He was actually straight! He was also known as the funny guy in That Thing You Do!

Dermot Mulroney

In the '90s, Mulroney was best known for his role in My Best Friend's Wedding. But on Friends, he played Gavin, the guy who was after Rachel's job when she went on maternity leave.

Adam Goldberg

Goldberg was absolutely hilarious as the roommate Chandler picked after Joey moved out. He was insane and liked to do things such as dehydrating fruit and watching Chandler sleep.

George Newbern

It's not a surprise that Newbern, known in the '90s for such roles as Chicago Hope and the Father of the Bride films, would end up on Friends. What's really surprising is that he now plays a truly disturbed assassin on Scandal.

Michael Rapaport

Rapaport played Phoebe's police officer boyfriend, but their relationship was over as soon as she watched him shoot a bird for chirping too loudly outside of his window.

Michael Vartan

Vartan played the son of the equally hot Dr. Richard Burke (Tom Selleck) who treated Monica's eye after a Thanksgiving accident. He left her with an eye patch and the willies when she realized both father and son kissed the same. Ick, that just gave us the willies, too.

VIDEOS: Chandler's 10 best moments on Friends >>

Tate Donovan

Before he was Jimmy Cooper on The O.C., Donovan was known for a couple of roles in great films like Memphis Belle and Love Potion No. 9 (which co-starred Sandra Bullock). On Friends, he played Joshua, the man that Rachel did everything she could (including donning her old cheerleader uniform) to win him over.

Julie Chen talks smack about Jenny McCarthy >>

"The reason we all have family secrets — and the reason we try to keep it a secret — is because it's often something that brings shame to the family," Chen told her Talk co-hosts, according to Us Weekly. "And my situation was no different. My mom tried to keep this secret from me and my two sisters for a long time. She was afraid for me personally, it would damage my career goals. For the record, I did get her OK to tell this secret. Let me start out by showing you a very old old family photo."

Chen then showed the photo of her family, to which the other women responded, "That's a big family."

"My grandfather was a polygamist," Chen admitted. "He had nine wives, six of whom bore him children. He had 11 children that we know of, countless mistresses. I never met my grandfather, all I knew growing up was that he grew up dirt poor. Dirt poor."

The Talk co-host said the secret has haunted her for decades and her family’s future was formed by this one man. She seemed ashamed of the secret, but also happy to finally be sharing it.

Julie Chen reveals she had plastic surgery to look less Asian >>

"As you can imagine, this was extremely hard on my grandmother. She was his first wife," Chen explained. "They were in a pre-arranged marriage. This was not the man she chose to marry, but you grow to love this man. Then you see wife number two come through the door. Number three… number four… the last wife was younger than my uncle, the first-born son."

Chen said that the secret was hard on her mom, but added that her grandfather tried to make it right in the end.

"On his deathbed, he apologized to my mom," Chen said.

Watch the first Better Call Saul teaser trailer (VIDEO) >>

He may have starred in the knockout TV series, Breaking Bad, and he may have won a Tony for his Broadway performance in All the Way, but Cranston has been hiding his secret passion. Until now. That's right: The actor is taking on a one-man show about... baseball.

No, really.

In the six-minute commercial for MLB on TBS, Cranston dramatizes the entire baseball postseason, from prep to the big game, all while narrating his journey to create this inspiring video.

"I want to put the audience in the heads of these athletes," Cranston explains.

Breaking Bad withdrawal? Where to find the cast next >>

Cranston then details his mastermind team of collaborators who helped create the one-man show. The actor says he even went as far as to bring in real concessionaires to sell snacks in the audience. Unfortunately, as we see, that didn't go so well for an in-character Cranston. "Well, he works in the lobby now. At intermission. It's better for everyone," Cranston says.

The Breaking Bad star then gets some ballet lessons for help with his movement and rotation on the field. Who knew the guy was so graceful? OK, he's not really. At all. Which is why it's so much fun to watch.

"Take me out to the ball game. Take me out to the crowd," Cranston belts in the middle of the field, as any Shakespearean actor would. In fact, Cranston goes through the entire song to close out the video in the most dramatic conclusion possible.

Breaking Bad finale: Celebrities react >>

"What can I say? This is the postseason."

It's hard to pick out the best parts of this video, since every moment of it is gold. Cranston is proving time and time again he can do no wrong. Even in a TBS commercial.

Why general outrage over the new U2 album leaves me disappointed in humanity >>

The band is already embroiled in a slight controversy right now, because Apple downloaded their new album to every iPhone — without telling anyone. The idea backfired so badly that Apple set up a how-to page on how to delete the album off your Apple product. It looks like even rich people have an opinion on the idea.

During Apple's new iPhone announcement, an announcement was also made about U2's new album, Songs of Innocence. Osbourne was the manager for her husband, Ozzy Osbourne, and she still works with artists in the industry. Although she has always seemed to appreciate a good music promotion, for some reason, she was not happy with this one.

Girl Crush: Meredith Vieira sounds off on feminism, her new show and more >>

On Wednesday, Sept. 17, Vieira will open up on her new show about her past experience with domestic violence.

"Every nine seconds, a woman is abused or assaulted in this country," Vieira will say on Wednesday's show (which was filmed Tuesday), according to People. "Every nine seconds this is going on.

"This Twitter trend that's happening now — #WhyIStayed and #WhyILeft. It's a campaign of confessions of women who have experienced domestic violence, and what you realize when you read these tweets is that it's a very, very complicated issue."

But Vieira goes further and reveals that she understands the trending topic, more than anyone knew.

"I was in an abusive relationship many, many years ago as a young woman," she explained. "I want to explain to you why I stayed.

"It started out, I loved this guy. It started out, we'd have a fight and he'd just sort of grab my arm. I didn't think a lot about it, and then it turned into pushing me into a wall and then it went beyond that, to [his] actually taking his hand and grabbing my face and saying, 'I could ruin your career if I wanted to and no one would watch you.'"

Vieira wanted the audience to know that it can happen to anyone, explaining that, "I'm a smart woman," and that she was upset during the Ray Rice controversy that people kept asking why Janay Rice stayed.

She said she heard "a lot of people say, 'Well, who would stay in that situation?' Somebody who doesn't have the wherewithal to get out, the means to get out. [But] I had that. I had a job at the time, and I kept in this relationship."

Vieira explained that she has had years to ask herself why she stayed and, in the end, it was because she was afraid of him. Because "I was scared if I tried to leave something worse could happen to me."

ESPN anchor gives heartbreaking perspective on Ray Rice incident (VIDEO) >>

The talk show host went on to explain further about her abuse and what kept her there. You can watch the full interview on her show when it airs on Wednesday, Sept. 17. But she wanted to end the segment by hoping to inspire change.

"If you are going through this, get yourself to a shelter, by all means tell somebody what's going on, let somebody know. That's just my experience with it, and I know it's rampant in this country, and we all have to accept the fact that it's not just an issue with the NFL — it's an issue with all of our lives, and until we take it seriously, more and more women are going to get abused."

Yanis Marshall struts all over Ariana Grande's "Break Free"

Yanis Marshall posted a new video to his YouTube account last week and, this time, he is tearing up the web with some positively fierce moves to Ariana Grande's hit song, "Break Free."

Ariana Grande fires back at diva demand rumors >>

This isn't the first time we've seen celebrity choreographer, Yanis Marshall, rock a pair of heels. In fact, those stiletto black booties are fast becoming his signature.

But this may be the first time we've seen him strut quite like this. And it's definitely the first time we've seen him whip his hair in such a positively smooth move.

Marshall and his fellow dancers appeared on Britain's Got Talent over the summer. The group made it all the way to the final round before getting the axe, but that hasn't stopped their popularity from continuing to skyrocket in the past few months. They have continually dazzled the world with their viral videos.

REVIEW: Ariana Grande goes from kid pop to club cool on My Everything >>

The French choreographer's first hit was a Spice Girls tribute filmed on the streets of Paris. From there, it seems like each video has turned up the diva heat more and more. One of the best videos of the bunch, so far, and one of the most watched on their channel is a dance tribute to Beyoncé.

We wouldn't be surprised if this newest video quickly surpassed those views, though. And that's saying something, since it has over 13 million as of now.

No koala is safe from Kim Kardashian's selfie addiction >>

First, news of another royal baby on the way. Then, we learned Beyoncé and Jay Z are pretty much definitely expecting. Just today, reports surfaced saying there's a baby Ryan Gosling. And now, Kim Kardashian is the latest star to catch the baby fever that is definitely going around.

In the middle of defending her husband's actions at a recent concert, when he stopped the show to tell a wheelchair-bound fan to stand up, Kim has some much happier news: A sibling for baby North West is likely to happen sooner rather than later.

"I hope so. We're trying," she said during an interview on Australia's Today Show. "I guess it's all in God's hands."

Kim has already admitted that she looks forward to growing her family with Kanye West. Even though her pregnancy with North was difficult, she said last week she wants a nice, big family, just like the one she comes from. We just didn't know she was ready for a second baby quite so soon.

Kim says North West will have another sibling, or four (VIDEO) >>

Of course, just because they're trying, doesn't mean it'll happen right away. But Kim's words are pretty much the exact thing her sister, Kourtney Kardashian, said earlier this year. And what happened then? Kourtney announced that her third baby was on the way.

Now that Kanye's Australian tour dates have wrapped up, it looks like Kim has plenty in mind to keep him busy.

In the meantime, Kim is happy spending as much time as possible with her small family.

"I think it's changed me so much," she continued in her interview. "Everything is put into perspective and nothing really matters besides spending time with your family and only doing the things important to you."

Joan Rivers' doctor took a selfie in the OR

Joan Rivers died after doctor went rogue >>

But in Joan Rivers' personal doctor's case, it's totally sleazy.

According to the New York Daily News, the legendary comedienne's personal doctor took a quick break while Rivers was under anesthesia during an Aug. 28 procedure — to grab a selfie with the star. CNN reports the snap happened just before Rivers went into cardiac arrest — the first in a series of events that would ultimately lead to her death a few days later.

The doctor, who has not yet been named publicly by investigators, is already under fire for taking over during Rivers' routine throat procedure at an outpatient endoscopy clinic in New York. Reports say the doctor wasn't authorized to practice at the private facility and that, after seeing something suspicious on Rivers' vocal cords that might have been a cancerous mass, he elected to perform an unplanned biopsy at the clinic that would have been much safer had it been performed in a hospital.

Joan Rivers' funeral was the showbiz affair she had wanted >>

"He asked and they let him, a huge no-no," a source said. "A biopsy like that should only be done in a hospital setting," because a hospital would have been better equipped to handle the complications that occurred, the source added. Investigation into the event has shown that Rivers' vocal cords shut down during the biopsy, which cut off her ability to breathe and ultimately caused her heart to stop.

Rivers' procedure was being performed by Dr. Lawrence Cohen before her personal doctor took over. Cohen has since been let go from the clinic, the Daily News reports.

Rivers never regained consciousness after her cardiac arrest during the unplanned biopsy. She was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital and placed in a medically induced coma. She died there Sept. 4.

Stroke survivor pens open letter to Kanye and it's awesome

What? Did Kanye West complain about the train's toilet paper? >>

After publicly humiliating those who are now undoubtedly former fans of his at a concert in Sydney, Australia, late last week, West and his ever-loyal spouse were quick to pass the blame. But writer, Harshada Rajani, isn't about to let West off the hook so easy and she penned an open letter that very aptly put into words what the rest of the non-insensitive population is thinking.

"I wanted to sincerely thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for the strength and character you showed at your concert in Syndey," Rajani writes in her letter published in a Huffington Post blog of the scene West caused when he stopped his concert because two disabled fans were physically unable to stand up to salute his serenade. "I mean, who wouldn't call a security detail on the delinquent concert-goers to verify their disability status?" she says.

Rajani, whose bio on Huffington Post states she suffered a vertebral artery dissection which led to a brainstem stroke at age 23 and spent several months completely paralyzed from head to toe, is not about to let West and his wife, Kim Kardashian, get away with blaming West's disgusting insensitivity on media outlet coverage, as they have already tried to do. "Your unabashed offensiveness victimized two people, but clearly, you are the victim in all of this!" she writes. "Like you said, you are just a target; you did nothing wrong! There is no video that clearly shows you totally humiliating and patronizing two of your loyal fans, while a whole entire stadium laughs at and taunts them. Oh wait... there are numerous videos that show exactly that. In fact, media outlets like E! News and MTV News have euphemistically portrayed this as an 'awkward moment' or 'misunderstanding.' So wait, the media has actually been much nicer to you than the ugly truth of the video. Mr. West, with all due respect, I don't think this argument is working anymore."

Kanye West sentenced to anger management therapy >>

Rajani makes an excellent point. West has blamed paparazzi for his violent outbursts, he's blamed the general public for being social media inept and not understanding that Kardashian is "a legend," he's blamed Louis Vuitton for not "realizing his power" and that's just the tip of the iceberg. How many times can Kardashian and West act in such a despicable manner and blame someone else? And as for Kardashian's excuse that West #JustWantedEveryoneToHaveAFunNight, considering that fans already footed the bill for his inflated ticket prices, one would think it's up to the concert goer to dictate what is and what isn't a fun night.

"By the way, I'm in a wheelchair and though I can stand, I wouldn't waste even half a breath of energy standing up for you," Rajani closes her letter.

We couldn't have said it better ourselves.

But it never fails - anytime I buy a container of basil (or cilantro or thyme), I use it for one dish and the rest goes to waste. Growing your own fresh herbs is a great way to keep your favorites on hand, while allowing you to take only what you need. And don't worry if you don't have a green thumb - once you set up your herb box, all you have to do is water your plants. We chose these super cute chalkboard planters, but you can use any planter that fits your kitchen decor, just be sure that it has a hole in the bottom to allow the water to properly drain.

Supplies:

  • Herbs
  • Charcoal
  • Fast draining potting soil
  • Planter
  • Watering can

Instructions:

  1. Place an inch of charcoal on the bottom of each container
  2. Add fast draining potting soil to container leaving a couple inches from top
  3. Remove extra dirt form the plant so it will sit in the container nicely
  4. Place plant and cover roots with potting soil
  5. Repeat with other herbs till container is full
  6. Water container slowly so that the roots and soil are moist but not drenched

Ben Affleck finally admits to counting cards in Vegas

Ben Affleck relates to Batman's "deeply buried anger" >>

"That is a true story," Affleck told Us Weekly. "I mean, that took place. I took some time to learn the game and became a decent blackjack player. And once I became decent, the casinos asked me not to play blackjack. I mean, the fact that being good at the game is against the rules at the casinos should tell you something about casinos."

For Affleck, it wasn't about money, but rather, about learning to be the best at something — a motivation that has gotten him to where he is today.

"I had always liked blackjack," he explained. "I don't play any other games of chance. I don't bet on football games, and I don't gamble at all, really, outside of that. But I knew with blackjack that there's a way you can improve your odds. And so I started trying to learn. And then I just got to a point in my life where I'm like, 'If I'm going to do something, I'm going to try and do it really well.'"

Affleck is finally admitting that he did count cards, but he said reports that he was escorted outside by the casino aren't true.

"No, I wish!" he said. "That would be awesome. [Like,] 'Get him outta here! He's a magician!' Unfortunately, they just came up and said, 'We can't let you play blackjack. But we have other table games! We have Chinese poker!'"

Jennifer Garner: I don't remember who I was before having kids >>

Affleck is currently taking on the role of the caped crusader in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, but you can see him next in Gone Girl, a film about a man whose wife disappears. Affleck said his real life living under the scrutiny of the media helped him prepare for the role.

"I definitely can remember times when I thought, 'Look, I'm just going to be myself and do what I want to do and live my life in a really honest way.'"

George Clooney to be honored at the Golden Globes >>

As it turns out, the groom-to-be has a good buddy in the tequila biz: Rande Gerber, who founded Casamigos Tequila. People reports that Clooney and his fiancée, British human rights lawyer, Amal Alamuddin, are good friends of Gerber and his wife, model Cindy Crawford. The pair of couples spent the holiday season together in Los Cabos, Mexico, last year and, when Clooney and Alamuddin officially decided to tie the knot, they celebrated their engagement with a party at Cafe Habana, a business owned by Gerber in Malibu.

And now, People also reports that Gerber is helping Clooney and Alamuddin prepare for the big day — by reportedly loading 100 cases of his award-winning blanco, reposado and añejo tequila onto a jet bound for Italy, where the wedding will take place. Yes, you read that right. One hundred cases. One. Hundred. Cases.

George Clooney's love story gives hope to singles everywhere (VIDEO) >>

Need a little perspective on just how much booze will be taking part in the Clooney-Alamuddin wedding? There are 12 bottles of tequila in each of those 100 cases. That means 1,200 bottles of tequila will be at that wedding. Even if Clooney and Alamuddin celebrate their big day with more than 1,000 guests, each of those guests will have his or her own personal bottle of tequila.

And this isn't cheap tequila, either.

Oh, and in case you wondered (because I did), a bottle of tequila will make about 15 margaritas. A little math shows us that the Clooney-Alamuddin wedding will have the potential to produce 18,000 margaritas. You know, just in case you didn't think it's going to be one hell of a party.

And for any potential guests who wondered what might make a good gift for the happy couple? They probably don't need tequila.

Gay couples keep starting families this week; society needs to get on board >>

"I think when our kids got to the age when they were having reasonable conversations where they're asking lots of 'why' questions, then it seemed [important] to be able to have a real clear-cut [identity] of who their daddy is — that he's my husband, it was easier than partner or boyfriend," he told the ladies of The View on Wednesday, Sept. 17.

Harris and his husband, David Burtka, were married on Sept. 8 after more than 10 years together. Their children, twins Gideon and Harper, were born to a surrogate in 2010 and Harris said they have already seen a change in their parents. He recently told Glamour he and Burtka have been working to keep the spark alive.

"Honeymoon phases end. They just do," Harris recently explained. "We're animals, and animals aren't inclined to copulate with just each other for the rest of their lives. So here's a challenge: How do you keep redefining your relationship? I think you have to find new elements that turn you on, and not only sexually."

But their children are what has helped them through the tough spots in their relationship. And according to Us Weekly, Harris said their wedding was exactly what they had hoped it would be.

Fatherhood made Neil Patrick Harris re-fall in love with his fiancé >>

"It was nice, very small and intimate. Only about 45 people were there," he explained. "We did it as a destination wedding, and it kept the numbers down. I just wanted to be able to say nice things about David to David in front of the people that mattered the most to us. It was less about a proclamation and more about a declaration that I was able to share in front of our kids."

Even Jessica Biel couldn't save New Girl from a ratings slump >>

Stephen Collins, who played the Reverend Eric Camden on the show (aka the dad), shared the reunion photo on Twitter.

In the photo, the actors are gathered around a table. It looks like it's an after-dinner shot, since most of the plates are cleared. It's unknown whose house the group was gathered at, but it definitely looks like a place the Camdens would have fit in nicely.

The cast was nearly complete with Collins, Barry Watson, Jessica Biel, David Gallagher, Catherine Hicks and Beverley Mitchell all in attendance. The only member of the original Camden family who is missing from the photo is Mackenzie Rosman, who played the youngest daughter, Ruthie.

Sadly, when a fan on Twitter asked about dog, Happy, Collins graciously explained that he had gone to doggy heaven.

The show, after all, started in 1996, which is 18 years ago if you can believe it! 7th Heaven ran on The WB and The CW until 2007 and produced 243 episodes. No wonder the actors feel like they're all family. They had plenty of time to get close during those 11 years of filming.

7th Heaven was a family drama that followed the Camden family and covered such heavy issues as sexual harassment, alcoholism, vandalism and unexpected pregnancies.

Notable guest appearances included Ashlee Simpson, Haylie Duff, LeightonMeester, Lance Bass and Mila Kunis.
