Jenny McCarthy and Donnie Wahlberg are married

McCarthy previously joked that she could have her wedding anywhere if it felt right, even at a KFC. However, her big day was a little more glamorous than that.

"I could get married in Kentucky Fried Chicken," she previously told People. "I don't care as long as the heart is in the ceremony."

Jenny McCarthy & Donnie Wahlberg marrying at Applebee's? >>

The former The View star stunned in a Bergdorf Goodman gown, a source revealed to the mag after the couple had previously been spotted at the store's bridal shop back in July.

The lovebirds married in a small wedding among family and friends. McCarthy's The View co-host Sherri Shepherd attended the ceremony as well as Jordan Knight, Danny Wood and Jonathan Knight, three members of Wahlberg's old band New Kids on the Block.

Get ready to have more fun with this easy, cheesy, pull-apart pepperoni pizza bread

This pull-apart pizza bread dinner is easy to make, and the possibilities for different flavors are absolutely endless. I chose to use a classic pepperoni pizza recipe, but you can try a different variety and get creative. It takes about 45 minutes from start to finish, but a lot of that time is just the baking. Now: what are you waiting for?

Pepperoni pull-apart pizza

To make this pull-apart pizza bread, you first start with a large loaf of bread. The more firm the bread, the better this recipe will work. Next, grab a bread knife that is sharp. You will slice the bread first from top to bottom lengthwise.

Don't slice all the way through the bread, but stop right before breaking through the bottom crust.

Pepperoni pull-apart pizza

Once the bread is sliced from top to bottom lengthwise, you will then slice it from left to right. Again, be careful to not slice through the bottom of the bread. You will need to hold the bread with one hand while you slowly cut through it to create the pizza.

Pepperoni pull-apart pizza

Now it's time to stuff the pizza with the delicious fillings. For this pizza bread recipe, I used mozzarella cheese and pepperoni slices. I sliced the mozzarella into thin slices and fit them into all the spaces of the bread.

Make sure to pack in all the spaces with cheese, and then place pepperoni slices throughout the pizza. The pepperoni can be alternated throughout the spaces.

Pepperoni pull-apart pizza

Then pour some melted butter over everything, and sprinkle on some Italian seasoning. Then you will wrap the bread in tin foil and place it into a preheated oven.

As soon as the bread is done baking, remove the foil, and sprinkle on some more Italian seasoning and freshly grated Parmesan cheese.

Pepperoni pull-apart pizza

After that, this delicious pull-apart pizza bread is ready to eat. Grab some dipping sauce — I used pizza sauce for this recipe — and dip away. Enjoy!

Pepperoni pull-apart pizza

Cheese and pepperoni pull-apart pizza bread recipe

Serves 4-6

Ingredients:

  • 1 round bread loaf
  • 12 ounces mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • 1/4 cup pepperoni slices
  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1-1/2 cups pizza sauce

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
  2. Slice the bread lengthwise from top to bottom. Then cut it from left to right. Be careful to not slice the bread all the way through, stopping right before the bottom crust.
  3. Gently stuff the mozzarella slices into all the spaces in the bread. Next, stuff pepperoni slices into the spaces.
  4. Melt the butter, and stir in the Italian seasoning and garlic powder.
  5. Using a pastry brush, brush the butter mixture over the bread.
  6. Spray a piece of tin foil with nonstick cooking spray, and wrap the pizza bread in the foil. Place the wrapped bread onto a tray and then into the oven.
  7. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, until the cheese has melted and the bread has started to lightly brown. Serve the pull-apart pizza bread with warmed-up pizza sauce, and enjoy immediately.

Simpson stunned in a pearl-embellished long-sleeved wedding dress and wore Neil Lane jewelry including rubies and diamonds and a tiara that complemented her engagement ring designed by the jeweler, the mag reports.

Ashlee Simpson and Evan Ross to wed this weekend >>

"The bride wore her hair down in beachy waves, and her groom sported a black velvet tux with a white silk trim," according to Us Weekly.

Among the wedding guests were Simpson's older sister Jessica, who was the matron of honor, the groom's mother, the iconic lead singer of The Supremes, Diana Ross, and Evan's half-sister Tracee Ellis Ross, who served as MC of the event.

Simpson also had a number of bridesmaids, which included her sister's bestie CaCee Cobb.

Things got serious between these two quickly and the Hunger Games: Mockingjay actor has even referred to his lady as "the one."

"Yeah, she's the one," he told The Insider. "It's amazing. I'm so in love and we've got amazing things going on. And we inspire each other. So it's cool."

This is the first marriage for Ross, but the second marriage for his bride, who was previously married to Fall Out Boy rocker Pete Wentz, with whom she shares a son, Bronx Wentz, 5.

Ashlee Simpson engaged to Evan Ross: She said Yes! >>

Could baby No. 2 be on the way for the "Pieces of Me" singer, but this time with her new beau?

According to the actor's E! interview, he's keen to have a little one. "It's up to Ashlee, but I want to have a lot of kids. I grew up with … 10 siblings!" he said.

Congratulations to the happy couple on their wedding!

Golden Retrievers chill in the pool on floats

Golden Retrievers chill in the pool on floats

Their owner captures a cute video of the pampered pooches lounging in the pool on cushy floating chairs, but the canines seem none too concerned with him.

As they drift about the pool, he asks them if they're working on their tans or if they're going to take a nap... all to the mellow sounds of "Don't Worry, Be Happy."

But our favorite part of this dog-umentary is the fact that these laid-back Golden Retrievers remind us that summer isn't, in fact, over, and there's still plenty of time to lounge around, soak up the sun and, yes, even take a nap.

As they say, every dog has its day, and these two sure know how to seize it.

Why I'd let my 9-year-old wax her face

$
0
0

I was about 12 years old when my mom taught me how to bleach my mustache.

"Here, honey," she said, mixing up the Jolen Creme Bleach paste on a little plastic square. "This will take care of that dark hair under your nose."

That marked the start of my lifelong battle with the facial hair embedded in my Eastern European genes. When I was 21 years old, I discovered waxing. At last, for six glorious weeks, my face would be hair free. I no longer had to paint my upper lip with a burning, stinky bleach solution that just turned my lush Tom Selleck a weird blonde color. My daughter, God love her, is going to follow in my furry-faced footsteps.

She's a gorgeous kid. She has tawny, flawless skin and the profile of a Victorian cameo. Her hair is a wild, fantastic tangle of cowlicks and curls. Her eyes appear to be a dark, velvety brown from a distance, but the first boy who gets close enough to spot it will fall in love with the subtle nimbus of blue that plays peekaboo with her pupil.

But, my DNA is strong on that one. And it won't end with a lady 'stache. The hair I have waxed off my body on a monthly basis could easily be knit into sweaters I could sell to hipsters on Etsy. So, when my daughter comes to me and asks what to do about the hair on her lip (and other areas), I'll pick up the phone and make an appointment for her at my salon.

People can be very cruel, and facial hair makes you a target for teasing. It's an easy fix. It's relatively inexpensive and only momentarily painful. It's mainstream, even expected, that women will get waxed.

I wax my face and body because it makes me feel clean and well-groomed, just like my husband shaves his face. It's something I do to maintain my body and make myself feel good and confident, just like when I get a pedicure every six weeks. I want my daughter, as she becomes a young woman, to have the same sense of well-being and confidence.

Meatless Monday: Try onion, tomato and olive pissaladière for a French-style pizza

$

Baked in a tart pan, what could be more French? The onions sweeten as they cook, the tomatoes bring the color and richness, and the olives add a bit of saltiness to this pie.

Pissaladière has its origins in the south of France, and I made this easy version with a very simple dough (no rising required) and popped it into a tart pan to bake. In no time, voilà! You'll have a delicious, filling, French-style pizza for dinner.

Onion, tomato, and olive pissaladière

Onion, tomato, and olive pissaladière recipe

Serves 4

Ingredients:

For the crust

  • 1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour, plus a bit extra to dust your work surface
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons herbes de Provence (or another type of dried herb seasoning)
  • 1/2 cup chilled butter, cut into pieces
  • 6 tablespoons ice-cold water
  • Nonstick cooking spray
  • Parchment paper

For the filling

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 small onions, cut into thin strips
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 (14 ounce) can diced tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves, plus extra for garnish
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/3 cup green or black Mediterranean-style olives, pits removed, cut in half

Directions:

For the crust

  1. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F. Lightly spray a 9-inch tart pan with nonstick cooking spray. Place the pan onto a baking sheet, and set it aside.
  2. To a large mixing bowl, add the flour, and then add the salt and herbes de Provence (or other dried herbs). Mix to combine.
  3. Add the pieces of butter, and use a pastry cutter or a fork to help incorporate until the mixture is crumbly.
  4. Make a well in the center of the flour mixture, and add the cold water. Mix until incorporated and the dough forms.
  5. Dust a flat work surface with a bit of flour. Place the dough onto the work surface, and roll it out into a round, just to about 1/2 inch thick. Transfer the dough to the tart pan. Lay it flat on the bottom, and form it up the sides of the pan.
  6. Add parchment paper over the bottom of the dough. Add pastry weights or dried beans on top of the parchment to help weigh the paper down.
  7. Keep the tart pan on the baking sheet, and bake for 10 to 15 minutes. Remove from the oven, and remove the parchment and weights or beans. Bake for another 5 minutes or so, just until the crust is lightly golden.
  8. Place the pan onto a rack, and let cool to room temperature.

For the filling

  1. As the crust bakes, prepare the filling by adding the olive oil to a large skillet over medium-high heat. When the oil is hot, add the onions and garlic, and cook for 10 to 12 minutes, stirring, until the onions soften and begin to turn color.
  2. Add the tomatoes, thyme, salt, black pepper and red pepper flakes to the mixture, and stir. Allow the mixture to cook, stirring occasionally, until the juices thicken.
  3. Stir in the olives, and immediately remove from the heat.
  4. Spoon the mixture into the crust, garnish with a bit of thyme, and serve immediately.

This recipe for pissaladière is très delicious.

Why are Google searches so sexist?

$
0
0

You type in a search and… bam! It's a beautiful thing. Google and its intricate algorithms have evolved over time to "learn" what its users want and find most relevant. But unfortunately, in many instances, it looks like Google has learned to be a sexist pig.

Really? How can Google really have sexist thoughts, you ask? Here are some examples to illustrate the point.

The search says it all. Type in a search for "girls in…" What comes up in the autofill text? Well, your top three are "girls in yoga pants" and "girls in white dresses" and "girls in country songs." Not "girls in science fairs" or "girls in sports" or even "girls in spelling bees." Apparently Google's personality, based on its recommendations, is oddly similar to your drunk, perverted uncle who just loves him some Conway Twitty.

Or start typing "women who…" One of the top Google recommendations is "women who kill comedy." Great. Now Google is acting more like an old-school Jerry Lewis knockoff.

Here's another example from @JodieLayne, who was doing some research on women breaking into the technology sector.

Tweet about Sexist google searches

Tweet about Sexist google searches

This isn't a new problem for Google. It's been accused of sexism before. A report released by SPARK Movement early in 2014 shows how little diversity is represented in the now-iconic Google doodles. The #DoodleUs research project shows that out of 445 Google doodles created between 2010 and 2013, only 17 percent honored women, not one of which was a woman of color.

The best way for Google to become more inclusive on its public face is to hire more women internally. And while Google, by its own admission, has a way to go before achieving a reasonable level of diversity amongst its workforce, the top Google leadership has outlined clear steps it will take to attract more women to its ranks. Right now, Google employs 70 percent men and 30 percent women.

Google is investing in programs to get school-age girls excited about technology and science. Google also looks for women leaders within its ranks for promotions and offers killer benefits for working moms.

At this year's Google I/O — the annual meeting for developers to learn the latest about Google platforms — keynote senior vice president of Android and Chrome apps Sundar Pichai talked about the interest the company has in attracting more women. Last year, he noted, only 8 percent of the Google I/O attendees were women.

"This year we have 20 percent female participation," Pichai said. "And we have 1,000 women in the room."

It's a start. In the meantime, Google still struggles to reach out — and speak to — women. It's trying, damn it. And that's great. Way more than you'll ever get out of your pervy uncle.

James Franco claims nude selfies are "what the people want" >>

The FBI is "aware of the allegations concerning computer intrusions and the unlawful release of material involving high profile individuals and is addressing the matter," according to the Associated Press via USA Today. "Any further comment would be inappropriate at this time," Laura Eimiller, a spokesperson for the bureau, said in a statement.

Apple Inc. is also conducting their own investigation to see if any of the leaked photos were the result of iCloud accounts being compromised.

Reactions from the actresses targeted have been mixed. So far, the only victims denying the authenticity of the photos are Nickelodeon's Victoria Justice and Ariana Grande. Final Destination 3's Mary Elizabeth Winstead admits the leaked photos are indeed her, but she tweeted a statement shaming anyone who is checking them out.

Both Upton and Lawrence have released statements through their representatives. "The authorities have been contacted and will prosecute anyone who posts the stolen photos of Jennifer Lawrence," said the Hunger Games star's reps, Bryna Rifkin and Liz Mahoney. Lawrence Shire, Upton's lawyer, issued a statement to Us magazine, saying, "This is obviously an outrageous violation of our client Kate Upton's privacy. We intend to pursue anyone disseminating or duplicating these illegally obtained images to the fullest extent possible."

We're pretty sure Fisher is joking, as he and Underwood seem like a more traditional couple, but it is Hollywood, after all.

Fisher and Underwood tied the knot back in 2010, after dating for about a year. The happy couple celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary last month on July 10 and we're thinking this is about the best present the couple could have hoped for.

The couple spoke with Oprah back in 2012 about their family plans. At the time, Underwood said, "Soon? No," to the idea of getting pregnant, while Fisher empathetically said, "Of course!"

"He's going to be the best dad ever," Underwood continued. "And that makes the whole parent situation seem much, much better."

Underwood and Fisher both see two or three children in their family down the road. It sounds like Underwood's first pregnancy is just the beginning.

What do you think Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher should name their upcoming bundle of joy?

Jolie's long veil was decorated with artwork from her children, as was the back of her dress — specifically, the train — judging from the pictures. The gown was designed by Luigi Massi, the master tailor at Atelier Versace.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt share handwritten love notes >>

"Luigi is like family to me and I couldn't imagine anyone else making this dress," Jolie told People. "He knows and cares for the children and it was great fun putting it together."

People also nabbed a photo of the whole Jolie-Pitt clan, including the couple's six kids. It looks like the entire family donned the traditional black and white ensembles, with the girls in dresses and the boys in suits, except Shiloh, who donned shorts and a top hat.

Pitt was not as fancy as his wife with his wardrobe decisions. The actor wore a suit from his closet and borrowed a tie because he reportedly forgot to pack one.

During the ceremony, Jolie's oldest sons, Maddox, 13, and Pax, 10, walked Jolie down the aisle, while Zahara, 9, and Vivienne, 6, participated as flower girls. Shiloh, 8, and Knox, 6, were the ring bearers. Pax even baked the wedding cake, according to the outlet.

Angelina Jolie didn't tell her dad Jon Voight about her surgery >>

"It was important to us that the day was relaxed and full of laughter," Pitt and Jolie told People jointly. "It was such a special day to share with our children and a very happy time for our family."

The wedding was certainly a family affair, even though reports surfaced following the event that Jolie's father, Jon Voight, was not invited to the festivities.

The ceremony took place on Aug. 23, with only 20 friends and family members in attendance at the chapel of Château Miraval, the family's estate in France.

Gabrielle Union is asking for a prenup from Dwyane Wade >>

Union celebrated the party by posting a photo of herself in her dress.

"Thank you thank you thank you @DennisBasso for helping me design THE most perfect gowns for the most special night of my life... So grateful... So happy," she posted on Instagram.

Wade and Union were engaged back in December and the actress has been planning her wedding ever since. In January, she told Live with Kelly and Michael, "I was completely surprised." But the couple wanted to celebrate their union in private. Last week, TMZ found a note that Union and Wade sent to guests asking for a camera and cell phone-free wedding, due to their life in the public eye.

"We are so looking forward to sharing this very special day with you. For the comfort of our guests and to protect our privacy, no cameras or cell phones will be permitted at the party," the note reportedly said. "Also, photo IDs will be required for all guests."

Union documented her whole wedding weekend on social media. Besides the wedding dress photo, she also posted other photos from her “#WadeUnion" weekend.

"Happy... Got my Luther playin... There's a #BeingMaryJane marathon on #BET, my #nebraska #huskers play today... All my loved ones are in town... Today is a good day... I must say I'm feeling blessed and humbled and just freakin happy... Let's go!!! #thewadeunion," she wrote before her nuptials on Saturday, along with a photo of herself.

Angelina Jolie's wedding dress was like a refrigerator for her kids' artwork, and it's perfect >>

Jolie's mom, Marcheline Bertrand, died at the age of 56 in 2007 after a long fight with ovarian cancer. Jolie, like most women, felt the loss of not having her mother at her wedding and did what she could to honor her.

"Brad had a dedication to Marcheline engraved inside the chapel where we stood," Jolie told People.

The couple was standing on a stone that was dedicated to her mother when they said their I dos. Jolie and her brother, James Haven, also honored their mother in another way.

"I also wore a little flower ring that was hers, and Jamie wore an angel pin from her jewelry box," Jolie said.

Jolie has talked about her love for her mother in the past, which even caused a rift between her and her father, Jon Voight. Bertrand and Jolie were close and the actress is obviously still feeling the loss.

"There are no words to express what an amazing woman and mother she was," she said, adding that her mother is responsible for her philanthropic personality. "She believed nothing would mean anything if you didn't lead a life that was of use to others," Jolie said.

Prince William: Family is my silver lining after losing my mom >>

Princess Diana's wedding dress was the most talked-about dress of the year — maybe of the decade — and princes William and Harry are finally taking ownership of it, as a stipulation of their mother's will. That stipulation says the dress will be coming home when Harry turns 30, which is on Sept. 15.

According to People, the dress was made by David and Elizabeth Emanuel and features a 25-foot train and around 10,000 pearls. Princess Diana died in 1997 after a car crash in a Paris tunnel. Diana's bother, Charles Spencer, has been taking care of the gown for the last 17 years, as well as some other items from her estate. The dress has been featured at the Spencer family museum at Althorp since 1998.

William and Harry have a lot of their mother in them, including their charitable sides. And although William's wife, Kate Middleton, wore her own dress for their wedding, she did have a part of his mother with her.

"As you may recognise now, it's my mother's engagement ring,” William told the media when he and Middleton were engaged. "So, of course, it's very special to me, as Kate's so special to me now, as well. It was my way of making sure my mother didn't miss out on today and the excitement and the fact we are going to be spending the rest of our lives together."

The dress is making its way to London to be reunited with the princess' sons and it will likely be put on display there. Both Prince Harry and Prince William live at Kensington Palace, which means the gown may make a public appearance there — the same place a collection of dresses worn by the royal family was put on display in 2013.

Claire Danes reveals career struggles before Homeland >>

Danes talked with Harper’s Bazaar U.K. about her son, Cyrus, who was born in December 2012, and admitted that it has been a challenging experience.

"Being a mum is incredibly challenging, but we still feel a pressure to talk about it in very romantic terms. And it's not just that," Danes explained to the magazine. "We all have that resentment at times and anxiety about being trapped by the role, that responsibility. And then chemically it can run riot. And there's no 'off' button. That was the hardest adjustment. You always feel beholden to somebody. And for so long they're like koala bears, you just feel a physical responsibility to be there for them to cling to. It's pretty primal."

But Danes said those feelings are normal and she is obviously completely smitten with her son. She said he has been having plenty of firsts lately, explaining, "He's kind of revealing himself to be a bit of a ham, which shouldn't really be a surprise. A babysitter gave him a kiss goodbye and now he does 'Mwah, mwah' to everybody. Or he says 'Ciao.' It's ridiculous. I did not teach him that. He sings Ee-eye ee-eye oh' to himself all the time. And he's a toddler, so he says 'No' and 'More' a lot and he's just started to have temper tantrums. It's scary."

VOTE: Who is TV's best female detective? >>

Danes' struggles are not only about raising her son. She is juggling being a mom, starring in Homeland and working on her marriage to actor, Hugh Dancy.

"I'm genuinely in love with him," she said, according to E! News. "I like hard things. You know, marriage is hard, but I'm up for it. I don't do anything casually so dating is not for me. I would be marrying everyone I was with. When I met Hugh I was single for the first time and really looking forward to it, kind of bragging, 'I'm going to rock this.' Then I met Hugh... but I like getting into [a relationship]. It's more fun [than being single]. There's so much opportunity if you are interested in each other to go further. It's kind of a beautiful exercise."

In an upcoming interview with Access Hollywood, Longoria admitted to having some trouble at the Apple Store in San Antonio, Texas.

Celebrity nude photos we really don't want to see >>

A starstruck Apple employee took advantage of the job to contact Longoria.

"I've had problems with people breaking into my e-mail," Longoria explained, saying that while she wasn't hacked, the employee was simply able to retrieve it from the store.

According to Longoria, the fan told her, "I made a dress I want to send it to you, I work at the Apple Store here in San Antonio." The actress was surprised and asked how the employee got her contact information. The employee told her, "I saw your phone number from your profile. I just wanted to call and say, 'Hi, I'm a fan.'"

Celebrity nudity is the new norm: Good naked vs. bad naked >>

"There are a lot of privacy issues," Longoria concluded.

The story arose because Access Hollywood host, Billy Bush, asked Longoria to discuss the celebrity nude photo scandal, which has rocked Hollywood and caused a lot of people to question the security of their private information.

Though Apple concluded, after a 40-hour investigation, that iCloud was not to blame for the hack, the investigation is still ongoing.

Scarlett Johansson, Mila Kunis hacker gets 10 years in prison >>

"None of the cases we have investigated has resulted from any breach in any of Apple's systems including iCloud or Find my iPhone. We are continuing to work with law enforcement to help find the criminals involved."

According to Apple, the accounts were accessed by targeted attacks aimed at discovering passwords, usernames and answers to security questions.

As for Longoria's breach of privacy, Access Hollywood said they tried to contact the San Antonio Apple Store for a comment, but none of the employees were familiar with Longoria's claim. The outlet was also unable to reach a spokesperson for a comment at their corporate offices.

The full interview with Longoria airs tomorrow, Wednesday, Sept. 3 during Access Hollywood Live.

What is the worst parenting advice you got from your mom?

Summer says, "I didn't get a lot of advice from my own mother, but there have been a lot of things my husband has said over the years where I've looked at him and said, 'Who told you that?' It would always end up being his mother. When he couldn't sleep as a kid, his mom would give him a glass of wine. He acted like that was such a normal thing for parents to do."
