Dakota Fanning: "I'm just never going to parade my personal life"

The actress talks growing up in the spotlight and explains that, even at a young age, getting involved in acting was her idea. "It's hard to explain to someone who didn't know me as a child. But even before I started working — when I was two, three, four, five — I was an exceptionally mature child. I just was. And my mom and I were able to have conversations like, 'Do you want to go to California and go to auditions for commercials and TV shows? Is that something you want to do?' And I was like, 'Yeah, let's give it a try.'"

Dakota Fanning covers Town & Country August

That doesn't mean it was easy. But Fanning's mother supported her all the way. "[My mother] realized I had the potential to do things that were bigger than the life she knew. And she recognized that in Elle, too. When she made that initial move with me to L.A.," Fanning explained, "she completely gave up her own dreams and started over in a place she never imagined living. I mean, Los Angeles, to a person from 20 minutes southeast of Atlanta, might as well be Africa."

Now that the actress has found success, though, she doesn't bask in the fame. She prefers her privacy. "I'm just never going to parade my personal life," Fanning told the magazine. "If you choose to not do it, it's not hard to not do it... any part of an artistic business is made better by there being a little mystery. That's what movies are about."

Dakota Fanning talks her banned too-sexy perfume ad >>

Still, she has had her fair share of being in the public eye. "Because people saw me grow up, there's this weird sort of ownership that they feel for me and that is... difficult. Because it's not real; it's in their minds. People don't know me as much as they think they do. I'll be walking down the street and someone will say hello, and I'll go, 'Oh, hi!' I'll think I must know this person if they said hello, but then you realize, you don't know them."

Fanning plans to continue her career. Eventually she'd like to direct and produce her own films.

"It's very hard to find a movie about a strong woman — one that doesn't have anything to do with a guy or the love of a guy or the heartbreak of a guy," Fanning said. "Is that the only crisis women deal with: love and loss of love and sadness? There's more to life than that."

Belgian waffle boycott: What the heck should we eat for breakfast?

Despite some exceptional play late in the knockout game between Belgium and the U. S., the Belgian team has moved on to the quarter finals, and the U.S. team is headed home. Not content to congratulate Tim Howard on what may be the best goalie play by a U.S. goalkeeper ever, and certainly not content to just shake hands with the other team and congratulate it on the fine performance, some soccer fans have decided to boycott Belgian waffles.

No more Belgian waffles

This is a stunning move, as most of America's domestically consumed Belgian waffles are made in the U.S., but one cannot fault these loyal fans for the tenacity and willingness to support their team no matter what. However, we don't support skipping breakfast or even denying ourselves a tasty meal on par with the now-verboten Belgian waffles. That's why we're giving you these 20 ideas for your next protest breakfast.

Beyoncé might have just called out Jay Z for cheating

During a recent show in Ohio, Beyoncé utilized the public forum to get some things off her chest while her husband was, in essence, a captive audience.

Kendra Wilkinson kicks hubby out for trans cheating scandal >>

The songstress took to the stage in a wedding dress-inspired ensemble and made some alterations to her song, "Resentment," the subject matter of which centers around a woman trying to forgive her cheating husband. And it seemed to be directed at an unnamed woman and Jay Z.

Bey changed lyrics from "I'll always remember feeling like I was no good... like I couldn't do it for you like your mistress could" to "I'll always remember feeling like I was not good... like I couldn't do it for you like that wack b**** could." She also changed the lyrics "been ridin' with you for six years" to "been ridin' with you for 12 years" which could be referencing the first time the couple met and collaborated on the song, "Bonnie and Clyde," 12 years ago.

Queen Bey also added additional lyrics to another part of the song that usually simply says, "I gotta look her in the eyes and see she's had half of me," to, "I gotta look her in the eyes and see she's had half of me. She ain't even half of me. That b**** will never be."

This is not the first time of late that a notable performer has aired their beef with Jay Z by changing lyrics in a song. Last month, while performing at the X Games in Austin, Texas, Kanye West intentionally left Jay Z out of several song lyrics that usually contain his name. Speculation began swirling that the dis was because Beyoncé and Jay Z were no-shows at West's May wedding to Kim Kardashian. Passive aggressive much?

Also in May, Jay Z and Beyonce's sister, Solange Knowles, became the subject of controversy when a video leaked of Solange aggressively attacking Jay in an elevator after the Met Gala. Rumors hung in the air that the alcohol-fueled altercation was because Solange was upset about Jay Z stepping out on Beyoncé.

The next Beyoncé song to be lyrically changed might be "Irreplaceable," because it's certainly starting to sound like Jay Z might be finding all of his belongings in a box to the left pretty soon.

Tori Spelling working it out with Dean for their four kids

While many wondered if True Tori — the couple's reality show which focused on their faltering marriage in the wake of McDermott's cheating scandal — would end with the Mystery Girls star making a life-altering decision, no major announcements have yet been made. Rather, the pair is said to be taking it slow for the sake of their four young children.

VIDEO: Was Tori Spelling's hospital stay faked for her reality show? >>

"Tori feels she owes it to them to try to work it out with their dad, even though it's hard," a source described as a longtime friend of Spelling gossiped to People. "They're working on their marriage and they're operating as a family, but of course there's tension. It's a work in progress."

The source went on to describe the mother of Liam, 7, Stella, 6, Hattie, 2, and Finn, 1, as "very non-confrontational."

"That's her personality. She doesn't like conflict," the source explained. "Dean has always been the big voice in their family. But now? In many ways, this has been great for her. It's forced her to really speak up, to demand to be heard and to say exactly how she feels to him. There's a change in her."

Is Candy Spelling encouraging Tori & Dean to reconcile? >>

There's also been a change in Spelling's Twitter handle, where she's keeping surprisingly quiet about personal matters in favor of talking frequently about her new show and lifestyle blog.

McDermott, on the other hand, still resides under the @Deanracer name, but isn't saying much of anything. His most recent message dates all the way back to mid-June, when he shared, "Happy Fathers Day. I got lots of treats and crafts from the Fam. I'm truly blessed."

"I took a hiatus after I had the baby, and found it challenging to start working again because I didn't want to spend any time away," she admitted to E! News. "But you adjust and prioritize, and just figure it out!"

Kardashian is constantly busy filming her show, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, as well as juggling her multiple other projects. Her husband, Kanye West, is also constantly on tour and she had to learn how to balance everything.

"It is an adjustment trying to balance a career and motherhood for sure, but the key is to prioritize," Kardashian said. "You become more selective and work on projects that are so meaningful because you want every other waking moment spent with your family."

But no matter how busy she gets, Kardashian wouldn't trade it for anything. She said, "I love being a mom! It's the most rewarding feeling! I really love every phase! Just the way my daughter laughs with me, all of the small things in life you appreciate!"

Kardashian has one less thing on her plate these days — she is no longer planning her wedding to West (the couple was married on May 24).

The reality star also offered advice to other new moms who are working to balance their home and work lives.

"You have to remember though to make time for yourself," she said. "If you feel good, you will be happy in your career and family life and everyone is happy!"

James Franco writes a short story about Lindsay Lohan >>

The feud started when the game was released and Lohan noticed a character that looked a little too much like herself. The character has red, wavy hair and is wearing a fedora and aviator sunglasses. In the game, she is seen hiding from the paparazzi and saying, "I'm really famous! I didn't do anything — this is my average commute."

According to Forbes, the lawsuit claims that, in the game, "The portraits of the Plaintiff (Lohan) incorporated her image, likeness, clothing, outfits, Plaintiff's clothing line products, ensemble in the form of hats, hair style, sunglasses, jean shorts worn by the Plaintiff that were for sale to the public at least two years."

Lindsay Lohan filed her lawsuit the same day as her 28th birthday — July 2 — and got into a very different kind of fight while out on a birthday bike ride. According to E! News, Lohan was scraped up during the ride, although it's not exactly clear how it happened. She Instagrammed a photo of the giant scratch on her leg, along with the caption, "A citibike gone wrong #notsoquiche !!!!"

Despite her lawsuit, Lohan may be looking to restart her career soon, and she looks to be heading to the London stage. She told a magazine that she is in talks to join Speed-the-Plow on London's West End.

"It's the first time I've done a stage play or anything like that. I'm nervous but I'm excited," she said. "I'm going back to my West End world. I'm a little overwhelmed. I haven't done this — I haven't really done the shows — in the last few years."

Amazing birth photos capture gay dads meeting their son

On June 27, during WorldPride 2014, a surrogate delivered Frank and BJ's son, Milo. Birth photographer Lindsay Foster captured the amazing moment when the two proud fathers held their beautiful newborn boy for the first time.

Waiting for Milo

Frank and BJ are high school teachers from Toronto. They both wanted to have children. When the time was right, they attended a parenting class through their local LGBT community center and learned about surrogacy. After researching their options and choosing an egg donor, they met a surrogate named Kathy. "We went to Kingston for a meet and greet with her and her family and it felt right," says 34-year-old BJ.

After a failed embryo transfer in the fall of 2013, the next transfer succeeded. Frank and BJ drove to Kathy's hometown to be with her during the ultrasound that confirmed her pregnancy. They spoke to Kathy daily and drove through a snowstorm for the ultrasound that determined that Kathy was pregnant with a boy. Life went on for Frank and BJ as they waited. "We would walk by our nursery in the house and stare at the crib, imagining our little guy laying there," says BJ.

Kathy's due date of June 17 came and went. Though Frank and BJ were anxious for their son's arrival, they knew that Kathy's previous two children had been more than a week late. At 10 a.m. on June 27, Kathy's midwife broke her water. By the afternoon, her contractions picked up. "Frank and I were amazed at the strength that Kathy had," says BJ. "It is incredible that she endured so much pain and kept composure and was very brave throughout this whole process!" Frank, BJ and Kathy's husband surrounded her, rubbing her back and soothing her through her contractions.

As the baby crowned, the midwife announced, "Shirts off." She placed the baby on Frank's chest and BJ wrapped his arms around both of them. Overwhelmed with love, both dads began to cry. "It was an incredible, surreal moment that we will never forget," says BJ. "Kathy is a brave, strong, selfless, giving, stoic woman and we will forever be indebted to her for giving us the greatest gift ever, our little Milo."

Milo recently had his first doctor's appointment. The 9-pound 7-ounce baby boy is doing great. "We are in love with him so much it hurts," says BJ. "Milo is our little pride baby, and there was no other way we would celebrate Pride this year [than] by spending it with Kathy, her family, Frank and little Milo."

Katy Perry gets caught in "Dark Horse" lawsuit

According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the rappers are claiming copyright infringement over the hit and their song "Joyful Noise," which received a 2008 Gospel Music Association Dove Award nomination for the best rap/hip-hop song. According the Christian rappers, "Joyful Noise" was written back in 2007 and released a year later.

Katy Perry has "miracle" day as "Dark Horse" gets edited >>

The suit specifies that "Joyful Nose" has been "irreparably tarnished by its association with the witchcraft, paganism, black magic and Illuminati imagery evoked by the same music in 'Dark Horse.'" Perry isn't the only one in hot water for the ordeal as the lawsuit also names Juicy J, Dr. Luke and Capitol Records. Eric Kayira, one of the lawyers for the Christian rappers, said that the popularity of "Dark Horse" is how the lawsuit came about. Once the comparisons of the two songs made its way online, the commotion eventually landed upon Lecrae's ears.

Katy Perry plans to write music about John Mayer >>

This isn't the first time "Dark Horse" has brought Perry some controversy. When the video dropped back in February, over 65,000 people petitioned to have the clip edited because it featured a burned pendant, which was symbolism for Allah (the Arabic word for God.) In the petition, viewers cosigned that "the name of God in an irrelevant and distasteful manner [that] would be considered inappropriate by any religion."

Do you think the lawsuit is called for? Let us know what you think in the comments below.

Hocus Pocus hokum? Tina Fey sequel not happening

Fans of the film were alive with nostalgic glee after a site called Tracking Board erroneously reported on the supposed sequel, but sadly, the excitement was short-lived.

A rep for Fey asserted that "Tina is not developing a sequel to Hocus Pocus."

Variety instead reported that Fey is in talks with Disney to produce and possibly star in an as-yet-untitled witchcraft-themed film alongside Cinderella producer Allison Shearmur.

TRAILER: Tina Fey "nurples" Adam Driver in This Is Where I Leave You >>

The 1993 film featured Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy as three bumbling witches who come back to haunt their hometown of Salem after a teenager named Max lights the mysterious black-flame candle. Once the witches come back to life, Max, his sister Dani (Thora Birch), and Max's secret crush Allison have till dawn to vanquish the witches, before the evil trio sucks the life out of all of Salem's children.

Mila Kunis and 7 more Hollywood witches >>

The movie was not a critical hit, but it developed a strong fan base for its witty banter, campy humor and oh-so-catchy "I put a Spell on You" song-and-dance number. In fact, die-hard fans have been pushing for a Hocus Pocus musical for years, hoping their grassroots cheerleading would get the attention of Disney execs.

Maybe the recent upsurge in enthusiasm for the project will help convince Disney that there is indeed an audience for more Hocus Pocus. In the meantime, though, you can still enjoy a little throwback Thursday with the boogie-woogie witches of Salem, Massachusetts.

Just because it's BPA free doesn't mean it's healthy

$

If you find something that says it's free of bisphenol A (BPA), that means it's safe, right? Well, it really depends on what it is made of. Since BPA has fallen out of favor, many companies are scrambling to produce BPA-free plastic items, but there's bad news: a popular BPA alternative, known as BPS, may be just as bad for you.

BPA free often leads to BPS

Once BPA fell out of favor, manufacturers searched to find an alternative that was just as sturdy, but lacked the sinister component that was getting the bad press. A similar chemical, known as BPS, started appearing in products that were labeled BPA free, but a recent study shows that it may not be any better for us than BPA.

The results outline a few potential problems this alternative chemical may have (the study looked at BPS and its effects on the cardiovascular system of rats). And this highlights an important fact: BPS has not been thoroughly tested for human safety. "Our findings call into question the safety of BPA-free products containing BPS," says the study's lead investigator, Hong-Sheng Wang, Ph.D., from the University of Cincinnati. "BPS and other BPA analogs need to be evaluated before further use by humans."

So, while the reusable, plastic water bottle you're eyeing at the store may proclaim that it's BPA free, you might reconsider tossing it into your shopping cart. We've been lulled into a false sense of security due to the massive media backlash against BPA, but just because something doesn't have it, definitely does not mean that it's totally safe for you.

BPA 101

Bisphenol A came into use decades ago as a chemical component in some plastics. Unfortunately, as useful as it was in manufacturing food and drink containers, it can seep into what we consume. It's suspected to have negative effects on our health and the health of our kids, and several countries around the world have banned its use in baby products.

It's difficult to avoid these chemicals altogether (in fact, one of the biggest offenders for BPA exposure is thermal-printed cash register receipts), but moving away from plastic food and beverage storage is a good start. Keep in mind that BPA can be found in the lining of metal cans, too.

You don't have to start fashioning your own storage containers out of grass, but the more knowledge you have when you shop, the better.

A rep for Nicolas' son Weston and his wife Danielle told Us Weekly, "Lucian Augustus Coppola Cage was born on July 1, 2014 at 3:14 p.m."

Lucian is the first child for the couple, who announced their pregnancy in February at the Kasem Cares Foundation fundraiser. The musician talked about how his movie star father felt about the big news, saying, "My dad is ecstatic. He was elated immediately when he met Danielle."

At 50 years old, Nicolas is a relatively young grandparent, and he's also the father of an 8-year-old son, Kal-El, with third wife Alice Kim. So Weston's little brother will be old enough to babysit his nephew in a few years.

The new parents also explained their unique baby name choice, which they had already picked out. The name has a lot of family significance.

Danielle explained, "Lucian is of Romanian descent, which is what I am. And Augustus is taken from Weston's grandfather."

The former lead singer of the group Arsh Anubis then chimed in about his beloved relative. "His name is August. We honor him very much. He was of extreme brilliance. He was a genius," he said.

What Slates for Sarah means to Hollywood, and how to help >>

According to Reuters, Midnight Rider director Randall Miller, his wife Jody Savin and executive producer Jay Sedrish were indicted on charges of involuntary manslaughter and criminal trespass on Thursday, July 3.

Sarah Elizabeth Jones, a camera operator on the film, was killed after being hit by a train after the crew set up on railroad tracks to film. Six others were also injured.

Charges in the case came because authorities said the film company, Unclaimed Freight Productions Inc., didn't have permission to film on the property, or the tracks, when the crash happened. They did have permission to film nearby.

The National Transportation Safety Board and the Wayne County Sheriff's Office investigated in the case.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, production on the film has since been stopped, and star William Hurt has pulled out of the filming. The star was on the set when Jones was killed.

"Elizabeth and I are comfortable that the authorities were both careful and meticulous in investigating and bringing charges related to the incident that took our daughter's life," said Richard and Elizabeth Jones, Sarah Jones' parents, in a statement. "We must allow the criminal justice process to proceed unhindered. Our mission remains the same: to ensure safety on all film sets. Safety for Sarah."

Gregg Allman, Midnight Rider team sued in Sarah Jones' death >>

Besides the criminal charges, Jones' parents have also filed a civil lawsuit against the filmmakers for wrongful death of their daughter.

In Georgia, a charge of involuntary manslaughter can bring up to 10 years in prison. Criminal trespass is a misdemeanor and can bring up to 12 months in prison.

  6. Then dip the cheese into the crushed-up Doritos. Press the Doritos into the cheese bite.
  7. Deep-fry the bites for 30 seconds. Remove the bites, and place them onto a paper towel-lined plate.
  8. Allow the cheese bites to harden and the oil to drip off and onto the paper towel for about 30 seconds, and then enjoy right away.

Tip: The instructions for this recipe require a deep fryer, but don't avoid this recipe if you don't have one. A pot of oil on the stovetop can be used instead. Just be careful and make sure to monitor the oil temperature so it doesn't heat above 325 degrees F.

Under her social media handle "kissmya," the singer responded to a fan who asked about the gossip.

Celebs 101: 7 Things you didn't know about Mya >>

Mya wrote, "Never did, never was, never will. Illegitimate, thirsty sources with no facts and that's the 'media' for you-especially today. I play second to no one, pay my own bills, have my own label, own management company, rely on God only and respect myself & marriage too much for nonsense."

The "Fallen" singer then continued, "False rumors are crafted for ratings & numbers. And miserable, unhappy people need someone to judge to deter the attention away from their own misery and feel better about their miserable lives. If they did it to Jesus, they'll do it to anyone. God bless."

Besides Beyoncé fanning the cheating flames, a blind item posted on MediaTakeOut.com stirred the pot even more. The post talked about the music mogul having a mistress who was a "very short named R&B singer who hasn't had a hit in awhile and doesn't really even act or record any longer. She basically lives off the generosity of Jay-Z and a couple of other guys."

Jay Z never comments on situations like this, but Queen Bey often responds to fans in photos on her Instagram page. Her response on Thursday was to share a photo of the couple holding hands while wading through the water at sunset.

An amazing story

If you're a book lover, you may already be familiar with The Time in Between. This record-breaking Spanish show started out as an international bestselling fiction. But what's it about? In Between tells the beautifully made-up story of Sira Quiroga (Adriana Ugarte), a talented seamstress who takes her skills with a needle from Madrid to Morocco during the start of the Spanish Civil War. Soon enough, Sira goes from stitching up dresses to weaving lines of communication for the Allies during World War II. If war and undercover agents aren't your scene, fear not. There's more to this spy story than the spying.

Two (at least) smokin'-hot love interests

Sira is a beautiful girl — who wouldn't want to be part of her world? However, as she goes from lowly garment-maker to surprise heiress to international spy, the men in Sira's life will start having intentions that go beyond spending time with the pretty Spanish seamstress. Who really loves Sira and who just wants her for the money and secrets in her possession? Only time will tell. Until then, we'll eat up every scene with her boyfriend, Ramiro (Rubén Cortada), and her fiancé, Ignacio (Raúl Arévalo).

Most importantly, the fashion

The Time in Between - Fashion

We're dying to get our hands on the fashion of In Between. From the clothes Sira makes to the ones worn by strangers from elsewhere, every piece of clothing the women wear has us salivating. Sira is supposed to be the best of the best when it comes to dreaming up modern fashions for the women who come to her, and the show's wardrobe department made sure it was believable. Can we raid their closet? Or can they at least send us Rosalinda's pretty flowered dress? Please?

The Time in Between comes to DramaFever at midnight on July 4. Enjoy the drama, ladies. We promise it's worth all the subtitles.

First look: Henry Cavill is smoldering in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

Cavill, who is reprising his role as Clark Kent, makes that classic pajama suit look good. And though the redesigned suit has received criticism for leaving out the iconic red underwear, we have to say, after seeing this image, we aren't complaining.

Henry Cavill reveals the secret to his superhero physique >>

In a recent interview with USA Today, Snyder discussed the relationship between Superman and Batman (Ben Affleck) in the upcoming film and warned us not to get too caught up in the "v" in the title. The film intentionally used "v" instead of "vs" as a way "to keep it from being a straight 'versus' movie, even in the most subtle way."

Snyder explained that in Man of Steel, Clark Kent was finding his place in the world, both as a human and a hero. In Batman v Superman, that journey will continue, though it will be thicker, denser and more epic, according to USA Today.

Snyder told the magazine he and Cavill have "created this guy, and we can push him around a little bit. The more time I spend with Henry, the more he's Superman to me."

Actor Henry Cavill's "so Supermanish it's crazy!" >>

Part of that "push" is placing Superman in unfamiliar territory, aka Gotham City. He'll also be introduced to new foes and allies, including Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) and Aquaman (Jason Momoa).

Though Snyder has only shot a few scenes with Superman and Batman together so far, he doesn't discount the excitement and fan fervor around the upcoming film, "It's never really been done, and it's kinda cool."

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is scheduled for release May 6, 2016.

Do you think Snyder can make the superhero combo work?

Speaking with Us Weekly, Green dished on why he left the singing reality series earlier this year and gave the new hosts some tips on their new judging gig.

CeeLo Green could be facing some serious prison time >>

"It easily and quickly became a job," Green said about his departure. "Very, very obligating... taxing and tiring... I still tip my hat to Adam [Levine] and Blake [Shelton] and those guys who continuously do it, but I think I ran my course there just naturally."

Green added that his exit was amicable and he holds "great memories" of his time on the show. "It really has everything to do with me having the leverage to go elsewhere and be a success as well," he went on.

As for his advice to new judges Gwen Stefani and Pharrell Williams, Green said for the newbies to "just kind of pace" themselves.

"Find a happy space... just find it enjoyable," Green said. "And as long as you're passionate about discovering new talent and really helping people and encouraging them to be themselves and live out loud and follow their dreams, then you should have no problem."

Here's your chance to try out for The Voice... boot camp-style >>

The 40-year-old singer also touched on how he first became involved with The Voice, revealing that Adam Levine called him directly about the judging opportunity.

"We were friends prior to The Voice," Green said. "And he called and said, 'Hey man, there's this new show The Voice and I don't really know what it's going to be about, and I don't really want to do any more kind of music shows — do you think it's cool? If you do it, I'll do it. If you don't do it, I won't do it,'"

Green was one of the original judges on the show along with Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton and Levine.
