Blake Lively Claps Back at the Double Standards About Her Suits

Blake Lively has been rocking some incredibly stylish suits during international promotional events for her new movie with Anna Kendrick, A Simple Favor. Lots of people have taken notice of the look, including a fashion blogger who attempted to make a joke about it — but the humor "didn't translate."

As reported by E! News, a UK fashion blogger wrote about Lively's appearance at the United Kingdom premiere for the film. They said, "It's suit number 1,356 for Blake Lively's promotion of A Simple Favor. This time custom pink Ralph Lauren Collection."

When Lively saw the post, she took the time to comment, reminding the author of a ridiculous double standard when it comes to fashion. "Would you note a man wearing lots of suits during a promo tour? So why can't a woman? Just sayinnnn. No double standards ladies," Lively wrote.

She and the blogger went on to have a cordial conversation about Lively's look, in which the blogger said, "You know I love you, and I personally have really enjoyed this tour. If you look at my website, I have said that I have admired your total commitment to rocking suits during this promo tour. That number just an attempt at humor. I'm sorry it didn't translate. Looking forward to the Paris premiere."

Lively didn't miss a beat, commenting back that she had "nothing but love." She added, "I don't expect everyone to like it. Fashion that creates a difference of opinions is the fun part. I totally understand the missed humor. I do the same thing sometimes. Just looking to encourage women to do what men do without being teased for it. Yes, even in a space as material as fashion. It all starts somewhere...and everyone's voice counts."

According to E! News, the blogger agreed wholeheartedly, writing, "The queen has spoken. #NoDoubleStandards #WomenInSuits #WhenYourJokeDoesntBang." Whoops. At least their exchange was positive and there were no hard feelings.

Lively previously told E! News that she modeled her A Simple Favor character's "entire look" after the film's three-piece-suit-wearing director, Paul Feig. He tweeted side-by-side comparison photos of himself and Lively in the film on Wednesday, carrying on the lightheartedness of the remark. "It's true," he wrote. "Blake's costumes in #ASimpleFavor were inspired by the way I dress."

We always admire the way Lively uses moments that could be disastrous to instead engage with potential critics from a loving standpoint. This blogger clearly wanted to make their readers laugh, but the joke didn't land and that's OK. Regardless, Lively's suits have inspired a lot of conversation, and it makes us wonder — when will fashion finally be less gendered so we can avoid these moments in the future?

Fans of Will & Grace were treated to a special throwback Instagram post from Debra Messing on Friday. It's not only the beginning of the fall season, it's also the 20th anniversary of the day Will & Grace premiered on NBC. To commemorate this special day, Messing hopped onto her Instagram to post a series of throwback photos that not only honor her beloved cast and crew but also remind us just how much these folks have changed and grown over the years.

In fact, Debra Messing, who plays Grace, posted a flashback slideshow on her Instagram account.

The series of photos shows the cast sitting on the familiar set and takes fans on a trip back through the years. And while Messing captioned the image rather simply — "Happy 20th Anniversary of #WillandGrace! I CAN'T BELIEVE it was 20 YEARS AGO TODAY that our pilot aired! Swipe to see 20 years of this photo from today all the way back to the pilot!" — she also asked fans to chime in with their favorite episode: "Let me know what your FAVORITE episode has been! #willandgrace20th."

Messing wasn't the only cast member to post a special look back. Sean Hayes, who plays Jack, shared the same photo series as Messing, and Eric McCormack, who plays Will, posted a throwback pic on Instagram.

"A favorite photo of mine from the pilot," McCormack wrote. "All in favor of me growing my hair back out?#WillandGrace20th."

Hayes also got in on the throwback fun, posting his own commemorative photo slideshow of himself, Messing, McCormack and Megan Mullally from years gone by, writing, "Where were you on September 21st, 1998? Share your stories of seeing the pilot episode of @nbcwillandgrace and where you were in the world at that time in your lives. #willandgrace20th."

Fans took Hayes up on his challenge, getting in on the anniversary action by posting in the comments where they were in their lives when the show aired two decades ago.

Of course, fans of the show are no longer lamenting its loss. After 11 years and eight seasons, NBC revived the series in 2017, and all original cast members returned. This anniversary celebration comes just before Will & Grace season 10 premieres on Oct. 4 on NBC, and truly, we couldn't think of a better way to prepare for the new season than with this special throwback.

Why I Decided Not to Freeze My Eggs (Yet)

Recently, I had my ovarian reserve tested on a whim. I’d gone with a few coworkers to a fertility pop-up near Madison Square Park in Manhattan, where a bright yellow truck sat proudly in the sunshine, encouraging the women of New York City to take their future into their own hands. On paper, we were doing research for a client of ours at the office. In practice, we were there to see what our futures had in store for us.

I’ve never been one of those women who knows deep down in her soul that she’s meant to have children. I like kids, and I’ve always imagined I’ll have a family someday, but not in that deep, gut-wrenching, feel-it-in-my-bones kind of way. My heart doesn’t skip a beat every time I see a cute baby bounce by in a stroller, and I’m more likely to swoon over a kitten than a toddler.

In my early 20s, when I first moved to New York and set off on the task of becoming myself, I felt that the world was my oyster, that I had nothing but time. Now, at 32, I’m staring down the cold hard truth: that my body won’t be fertile forever, and that if I want kids, perhaps I should get to it. But as a single woman with no romantic prospects in sight, the odds are slim unless I intend to do this thing on my own.

And so it was that I found myself standing in the blistering heat of late August signing my name on an iPad agreeing to have my blood drawn and tested for AMH levels — a hormone that’s thought to signify fertility (or lack thereof). Two tubes of deep red blood later, I was sent on my way, a Band-Aid taped over a teeny-tiny hole in my skin. I was told I’d receive my results via email within a week or two.

Ten days later, I stepped out of an early morning workout class and saw I’d missed three calls from an unknown New York number. Intrigued, I swiped to unlock my phone and tapped the number. When I reached the doctor, she told me she was calling with my AMH test results.

AMH levels range from 1 to 6 — 6 meaning your ovaries are in near-perfect working order, producing eggs left and right; 1 meaning you could very well have trouble getting pregnant.

I listened as the doctor gave me this information and asked me if I was on birth control.

“Not currently,” I answered. “I haven’t exactly been sleeping with anyone regularly, so it doesn’t seem worth it…”

I trailed off, then barked out a bit of nervous laughter, imaging judgment on the other side of the phone.

“Do you get your period regularly?”

“I do, yes.”

“Interesting. If you were on any form of birth control, I’d wonder if there was some sort of hormonal imbalance at play here, but given that you’re getting your period naturally each month, I don’t think we need to worry about that.”

More: Is There Really a "Right Time" to Have Kids?

I waited, all of a sudden both terrified that I had a subzero number and wanting desperately to hear that my number was off the charts amazing. I was surprised how much I wanted more than anything to be some sort of fertility teacher’s pet — to hear that it was OK, that I had time.

“You’re at 6.5.”

A what?

She continued to speak, but I’d stopped listening — 6.5. I was a 6.5! Literally off the charts.

"This makes you an excellent candidate for egg freezing," the doctor continued, "and you know, if you’re not ready, maybe you want to travel, maybe you’re waiting for Mr. Right, maybe you’re focused on your career…”

“Six point five?” I interrupted.

“Yes, 6.5."

Suddenly, I felt like I had all the time in the world.

"Like I was saying, I’d highly recommend you consider egg freezing. As you know, the number of eggs drops rapidly after 35. You’ll never have as many as you have right now. I’d be happy to set up an appointment for you.”

I walked into my neighborhood coffee shop like I was walking on water. I was a 6.5! I’d never seriously thought about freezing my eggs before — or, to be more accurate, when I had thought about it, I had indeed felt like I had time to decide. Like I wasn't ready.

When I told this to a friend later that day, she laughed and told me I’d better be careful. After all, 6.5 meant I could be popping out babies left and right if I only tried. I recalled that my mother — a lesbian having a child via artificial insemination before doing so was even remotely a thing — had given birth to me at 36 and that she’d gotten pregnant on “the first shot.”

All of a sudden, in a sea of canceled first dates and unasked-for dick pics and too many right swipes to count, I felt it: a tiny trickle of hope in the corner of my heart. Perhaps this was the universe telling me it was OK that I hadn’t had a serious boyfriend... well, ever. That it was OK that no one ever chose me, OK that I felt light-years behind the countless friends I’d escorted down the aisle while holding back happy/sad tears.

Perhaps it was the universe saying that my time was coming; it just might be coming a bit later than everyone else’s. I wondered: Was this a sign that I should freeze my eggs? Buy myself some time to “find Mr. Right” as the kind doctor had counseled? Or was it a sign that my body — this space that I live in and breathe in every day, the one that takes all the blows I throw at it and still comes out the other side — was there for me in a way that no kind of medical intervention could be?

More: The Real Cost of Fertility Treatments & Adoption

AMH isn’t by any stretch of the imagination the only indicator of fertility. It’s not a promise that you’ll get pregnant, that you won’t miscarry, that you’ll give birth to a healthy bouncing baby boy or girl. But it’s something. To me at least. It’s a reminder that my life and my body move at their own pace, irrespective of those around me.

Maybe I’ll choose to freeze my eggs — to commit to that $20,000 insurance policy. Or maybe I won’t. Maybe I’ll count on my body to carry me through as it has before. To show me the way when I can’t seem to find it myself. Especially when I can’t seem to find it myself.

And until then, I’ll carry a little number around in my head and in my heart: 6.5.

Contrary to popular belief, going to one of the country's top schools won't close the wage gap for women. New data from the Department of Education suggests that women who've graduated from some of the most prestigious schools actually face a wider wage gap.

Of the 100 best universities and the 25 best liberal arts colleges as ranked by U.S. News College rankings, 117 schools had data available for researchers to analyze. They used data from the Department of Education to determine the average earnings for both men and women six years after beginning their higher education (excluding anyone still in school full-time), and they found that the wage gap is persistent among those graduates of these schools.

Specifically, women earned more than men at only three of the 117 schools. On average, men earn $59,028, while women earn $47,887. This means that women start their careers earning 19 percent less than males.

Grey's Anatomy Could Be Done After Season 16 — Here's Why

Uh oh, Grey’s fans... could the end be near for our favorite doctors of Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital? In a disarmingly honest new interview with Entertainment Weekly, series lead Ellen Pompeo certainly seems to suggest as much.

As you may recall, news broke in January that Pompeo had renewed her current contract to include two more seasons. As part of the deal, she would also serve as a producer on Grey’s and a co-executive producer on Grey’s spinoff Station 19. Per Deadline, the $20 million per year deal likely made Pompeo the highest paid actress on television.

Shortly after that exciting revelation, ABC officially renewed its flagship medi-drama through the upcoming 15th season, making it the longest running primetime drama in the network’s history. At the time, when asked if the show would end after this new deal expired, Pompeo replied, “I’ve been saying since season one, ‘We have two more years.’ This show, it’s taking on a life of its own, and who knows? We take it season by season.”

And, well, it looks as though Pompeo, series creator Shonda Rhimes and ABC may have reached the season when they’re ready to stop. Speaking to EW, Pompeo seemed to suggest a decision had already been made but that they simply hadn’t yet made it official.

“I’m clearly not prepared right now to make any kind of formal announcement about what my future is on the show, but I am really feeling like we have told the majority of the stories we can tell,” she said. “It’s about time that I mix it up. I’m definitely looking for a change.”

Could this really be happening? After all this time and all the tears, will fans soon have to say goodbye to our beloved Grey’s? While rumors about the show ending have made the rounds before, hearing those words come out of Pompeo’s mouth make this time feel far more credible.

And although we hate the idea of not getting to see Meredith and the gang on our screens each week, we get it. These actors have been inhabiting these characters for over a decade. They might really be ready to challenge themselves in new ways.

If you’re thinking perhaps there’s a chance the show could go on without Pompeo (or perhaps with Pompeo moving behind the camera full-time), don’t count on it.

“Ellen and I have a pact that I’m going to do the show as long as she’s going to do the show,” Rhimes told E! News in November 2017. “So the show will exist as long as both of us want to do it. If she wants to stop, we’re stopping. So I don’t know if we’ll see 600, but I want to keep it feeling fresh. As long as there are fresh stories to tell and as long as we’re both excited about the stories being told, we’re in. So, we’ll see where that takes us.”

More: The Cast of Grey's Anatomy in Their First Episodes vs. Now

That quote seems pretty ominous now that Pompeo has gone on the record to say she feels like they’re run out of stories to tell, no?

It’s not all bad news out of the Grey’s camp today, though. For starters, we can rest a little easy knowing that the upcoming season won’t be the last — we still get at least one more. And, hallelujah, Grey’s finally returns to our screens on Thursday for the premiere of season 15.

5 Things to Know About Saturday Night Live Cast Member Ego Nwodim

On Sept. 29, Saturday Night Live returns for its 44th season, and a new featured player will be drumming up laughs on the ever-popular NBC sketch series. Per Variety, comedienne Ego Nwodim will be joining the cast.

Not only is the news exciting based on Nwodim’s talent alone, but it’s also significant because she is one of only a handful of women of color to have been hired in SNL’s 43-year history. Preceding women of color who’ve been hired by the long-running series include Yvonne Hudson, Danitra Vance, Ellen Cleghorne, Maya Rudolph, Sasheer Zamata and Leslie Jones (a current cast member).

Here are a few other interesting things to know about the latest addition to the season 44 cast.

1. You’re probably saying her name wrong

It’s “eg-go,” like the waffle.

2. You might say she’s a science nerd

According to Variety, Nwodim graduated from the University of Southern California — but not for acting or any other creative-driven field. Rather, she earned a degree in biology.

3. She had her own show prior to SNL

You may not have seen it, though, unless you’ve been spending time at the UCB Theatre in Los Angeles. That’s where Nwodim has been a regular cast member and where she put on her own one-woman show, “Great Black Women... and Then There’s Me.”

4. She’s been on the big screen, too

Nwodim’s acting credits include the feature-length films Singularity, 5th Passenger and the recently completed It’s a Party. She hasn’t starred in any major blockbusters yet, but the sky’s the limit once SNL fans realize how talented Nwodim is.

5. She’s in love...

With Postmates, like the rest of us. In September 2017, Nwodim tweeted, “Every time I get a Postmates delivery, I feel like I’m getting a taste of what it’s like to have a boyfriend minus his emotional issues.” Postmates picked up the tweet and ran with it in a Buzzfeed article, proving that good things come to those who wait — for their groceries to be delivered to their door.

Catch Nwodim in action on SNL when the series returns next week.

What You Can Do Today to Help Prevent Alzheimer’s

The exact cause of Alzheimer's remains elusive, but that doesn't mean we're helpless to prevent it. Of course there's no foolproof, one-size-fits-all secret to Alzheimer's prevention — but experts say there's evidence that our lifestyle choices can reduce our risk of developing the illness.

"Much research suggests that Alzheimer's disease can be prevented or at least delayed in onset," Dr. Morton Tavel, a physician and clinical professor emeritus of medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine, tells SheKnows. "Happily, simple lifestyle choices can make the biggest difference, allowing us to reduce the risk of developing Alzheimer's disease by as much as 35 percent or more."

The best news is that we can easily start to integrate the following Alzheimer's prevention techniques today.

More: What Your Reproductive History Has to Do With Dementia Risk

1. Diet choices

Tavel tells SheKnows that our food intake, as exemplified by the Mediterranean diet and other similar diets, can be an effective prevention technique. These are the foods you should be eating in ample quantities:

  • Leafy green vegetables such as spinach and salad greens
  • All types of nuts
  • Berries
  • Beans
  • Whole grains
  • Fish
  • Poultry (chicken or turkey)
  • Olive oil

The following foods should be minimized:

  • Red meat
  • Butter and margarine
  • Cheese
  • Pastries and other sweets
  • Fried or fast food

"Simply reducing cholesterol, through diet or by the commonly prescribed 'statin' drugs, can also produce a similar desirable result," Tavel says.

2. Regular exercise

Dr. Verna R. Porter, neurologist and director of the Alzheimer’s Disease Program at Providence Saint John’s Health Center in Santa Monica, California, tells SheKnows that regular physical exercise can reduce your risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease by up to 50 percent

Ideally, you'll exercise 30 to 45 minutes per day four to five days per week. Porter says a combination of aerobic exercise and strength training is the most effective workout regimen. She recommends cycling, walking and swimming and notes that balance and coordination exercises such as yoga and tai chi may also be helpful.

"Exercise may slow existing cognitive deterioration by stabilizing older brain connections — synapses — and help make new connections possible," Porter says.

3. Social engagement

And you're not just going to want to stay physically active. Being socially active is important too.

"Staying socially engaged may help protect against Alzheimer’s disease and dementia in later life," Porter tells SheKnows. "Maintaining a strong network of family and friends is very important. Regularly connecting with others, face-to-face, is important."

Porter recommends enhancing social connections through volunteer organizations; joining clubs or social groups; taking group classes at a gym or community college; and simply getting out into the community by going to the park, museums and other public spaces.

4. Mental stimulation

Tavel tells SheKnows that active mental stimulation can play an important role in preventing or delaying Alzheimer's. He recommends activities like card games, crossword puzzles and challenging reading.

"Education at any age may protect against cognitive decline," Porter says. "Consider taking a class or volunteering to keep your brain fit while staying socially engaged." She suggests learning something new, such as a foreign language, a musical instrument or how to paint or sew.

More: Marcia Gay Harden Opens Up About Caring for a Loved One With Alzheimer's

5. Quality sleep

People with Alzheimer's frequently suffer from insomnia and other sleep disturbances, Porter explains. "Research studies have linked poor sleep to higher levels of beta-amyloid depositions in the brain," she says." Beta-amyloid is a pathological hallmark of the disease and is essentially a sticky 'brain-clogging protein' that in turn interferes with brain function and with sleep — especially with the deep REM sleep necessary for memory formation."

6. Stress management

Finding healthy ways to manage stress is invaluable in myriad ways, and Alzheimer's prevention is one of them. Porter tells SheKnows that chronic or persistent stress can lead to nerve decline, and this may manifest as atrophy of important memory areas in the brain.

"Nerve cell dysfunction and degeneration in turn increases the risk of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia," she explains. Porter recommends relaxation techniques such as breathing exercises, prayer, meditation and yoga, noting that studies have shown these practices may diminish the effects of stress on the brain.

Of course, in addition to helping prevent Alzheimer's, all these lifestyle habits can only benefit your physical, mental and emotional well-being — so you won't need to wait long to enjoy the benefits.

Which Netflix RomCom Should You Watch Next?

$

Is it just us, or has Hollywood been struck by a romcom shortage in recent years? Where’s the love for funny, lighthearted love stories? Coupled with the fact that so many aspirational celebrity couples have split over the last few years (we’re looking at you, Anna Faris and Chris Pratt), it’s enough to make fans feel like love is dead.

More: The Top 31 Movies to Watch After a Breakup

Happily, though, you can always pull from the incredible body of romcoms from the ‘90s and early ‘00s. And, to give credit where credit is due, clever romcoms do seem to have started popping up again — especially on Netflix. Between the streaming giant’s original titles and the nostalgic favorites it features, you might say Netflix is keeping love alive... on our screens, at least.

In the last year, according to Netflix, more than 80 million accounts got their romcom fix by watching a love story. So, what are you waiting for? If you need help narrowing down your choices, let us help. The following romcoms should be on your Netflix queue no matter what, but we’ve gone a step further by categorizing them according to life status.

1. If you’re a hopeless romantic, watch... Amélie

This feel-good 2001 film revolves around the remarkably plucky and charming Amélie (Audrey Tatou), who is on a quest to bring happiness to those around her. Those who don’t speak French will need to make it through the subtitles, but the sweet and tender story will draw you in so much, you won’t mind. It’s impossible not to feel warm and fuzzy inside when you watch this hallmark of French cinema. The humor in the film doesn’t hit you over the head; rather, it's quirky and often surprising. Amélie is looking for love in her own way, and the journey is magical. Watch here.

2. If you found love when you least expected it, watch... How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days

Are parts of this 2003 film starring Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey predictable? Sure. But the rest of the film is so cute, you’ll forgive such momentary lapses. Hudson and McConaughey are super convincing as Andie (Hudson) and Ben (McConaughy), two New Yorkers who wind up on opposite sides of a bet that both of their careers are staked on. Hilarity ensues as Andie does everything in her power to push Ben away — only to realize they’re falling for each other. If this romcom leaves you wanting more of Hudson and McConaughey, you could always track down 2008’s Fool’s Gold. Watch here.

3. If you’ve always been a little shy, watch... To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before

Can you imagine if someone secretly mailed out the love letters you’d written to all of your crushes but were too shy to actually send? That's what happens to Lara Jean Covey (Lana Condor) in this movie adaptation of the popular YA novel by the same name. The film proves to be one of Netflix’s best original titles, playing perfectly on the fake dating plot. It will make you blush, it will make you laugh, it might even make you cry. And the incredible cast of young Hollywood talent will give you hope that more romcoms could be just around the corner. Watch here.

4. If you’ve got a serious case of wanderlust, watch... Leap Year

When Anna (Amy Adams) doesn’t get an expected proposal from her boyfriend, she decides to take matters into her own hands — she plans to surprise him in Ireland by asking him to marry her. The catch? She has to pop the question on Leap Day, when local tradition holds that he can't refuse. Upon her arrival in Ireland, though, things quickly go comically awry when Anna meets local barkeep Declan (Matthew Goode). What follows is a series of foibles that will cause serious secondhand embarrassment. All of this, and it’s set against the stunning Irish countryside. Yes, please. Watch here.

5. If mushy movies make you squirm but you still want something funny, watch... I Give It a Year

This 2013 film from director Dan Mazer isn’t your typical romantic comedy. In fact, it’s more of a reverse romcom, or even an anti-romcom. But it is far funnier than your typical romcom, too. No one believes newlyweds Nat (Rose Byrne) and Josh (Rafe Spall) can make it, but does that turn into a self-fulfilling prophecy? Well, of course we aren’t going to tell you here. Watch this smart farce to find out. Watch here.

6. If you're in between romantic partners but still want something cute, watch... Frances Ha

At 27, Frances Ha (Greta Gerwig) should probably have her life together a little bit more than she does. Her living situation is comically unstable. She and her BFF are basically on the outs. She’s an apprentice at a dance company but isn’t really a dancer. In that way, it’s set up to play out like a standard romcom — she wants more, and from the genre, you'd expect that she finds meaning through an unexpected romance. However, the brilliance of Frances Ha is that it suggests finding a man isn’t the answer to all of a young woman’s problems. It’s a realistic slice of life wrapped in romcom gossamer. And, as usual, Gerwig is a breath of fresh air. Watch here.

7. If you’re feeling decidedly less youthful these days, watch... While We’re Young

How was this 2015 film not more talked about? This Noah Baumbach comedy stars Ben Stiller and Naomi Watts as Josh and Cornelia, a childless married couple in their mid-40s who befriend hipster couple Jamie (Adam Driver) and Darby (Amanda Seyfried). If you’re no longer in your 20s and feel like life may have gotten away from you a little bit, this movie will make perhaps more sense than you want it to. It’s relatable and, often, deeply funny. Watch here.

8. If you’re an unabashed Bridget Jones fan, watch... Bridget Jones’s Baby

The last chapter of the Bridget Jones saga is just as sweet and funny as the first two. While the second installment of the trilogy wasn’t as well received as the first, the third proved that you can bring a franchise back years later as long as you don’t try to reinvent the wheel. Of course, a major reason this film works is its cast: Renee Zellweger as the always awkward but endearing Bridget, Colin Firth as Mark Darcy and newcomer (to the BJD family) Patrick Dempsey as dreamy American matchmaking billionaire Jack. Plus, there’s a baby! Everyone loves a baby. Watch here.

9. If you’re engaged, watch... I Love You, Man

The premise is simple: A couple get engaged, and they need to nail down their wedding party. However, Peter (Paul Rudd) spends most of his time with his girlfriend, Zooey (Rashida Jones), and doesn't really have any male friends. So, he goes on a quest to find the perfect groomsmen and finds... Sydney (Jason Segel). There are too many laugh-out-loud moments to mention in this romcom that ultimately does end up at the altar. But as happy as you are for Peter and Zooey, the real couple you’re rooting for is Peter and Sydney. If you’re feeling ambitious, you could turn this into a double feature by watching Chocolat — watch I Love You, Man and you’ll understand. Watch here.

10. If you’ve seen all the standard fare, watch... The Incredible Jessica James

First things first: Jessica Williams (as Jessica James) couldn’t be more captivating as an aspiring NYC playwright struggling through a painful breakup. The fact that this romcom is rounded out by Lakeith Standfield (as Jessica's ex) and Chris O’Dowd (as her potential new love interest) means that what could have been an entirely predictable romcom feels fresh and new. Williams shines as a woman trying to navigate her two worlds, work and love — sometimes to hilarious effect. Watch here.

11. If your Christmas countdown started on Easter, watch... Love Actually

Because, come on, right? This 2003 London-based romcom has become a cult classic for good reason — it just makes you feel good. Not because it’s cloyingly happy, either. It isn’t. There are genuinely heartbreaking moments throughout. However, the holiday scenery and cheerful sentiments of the season will put you in the Christmas spirit and make you believe, at least for a brief and shining moment, in the redeeming nature of love. And that’s to say nothing of the strength of this ensemble cast. With Billy Nighy, Hugh Grant, Liam Neeson, Emma Thompson, Colin Firth, Alan Rickman, Laura Linney, Keira Knightley, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Andrew Lincoln... need we say more? Watch here.

12. If you want to get swept up in romances from another time, watch... Emma

We love a romantic costume drama, so of course we had to choose one of the dreamiest costume dramas around: Emma. Starring Gwyneth Paltrow, Toni Collette, Jeremy Northam, Ewan McGregor and some very recognizable British character actors, this 1996 adaptation of Jane Austen's classic about a young woman determined to play matchmaker for all of her friends and loved ones — to mixed results — is too good to ignore. Watch here.

The 10 Best Haunted Destinations to Visit This Fall

If there's one thing you should know about me, it's that Halloween is my favorite holiday. I live and breathe all things haunted, spooky, paranormal and unknown. Most people would hit up a restaurant or the movie theater on a Friday night, but you're much more likely to find me in a cemetery trying to photograph ghosts while everyone else is out unwinding from the workweek.

My obsession with the paranormal started early. I was begging my parents to let me watch The Exorcist by the time I was 5 and have only grown more intrigued by the thin veil that separates our world from the spiritual world as I've gotten older. In fact, I've even started tailoring my vacations to fit in as many haunted destinations as possible.

If you're looking for the ultimate spooky Halloween experience this year, consider taking a fall vacation to some of these terrifying destinations.

More: The Best Trips to Take This Fall

1. Cooperstown, New York

This tiny little town located in upstate New York is named after James Fenimore Cooper, the American author who wrote (among many others)The Last of the Mohicans. Cooper lived in this area while he wrote most of his novels, but the small town is also known for its much darker history.

Located on the shore of Lake Otsego, the Otesaga Hotel is one of Cooperstown's most famous haunts. Originally built in 1909, it's unclear exactly what happened in this hotel to cause such a high level of paranormal activity, but guests and staff will assure you it is haunted. The fifth floor in particular seems to be a hotbed for paranormal activity. Guests often report hearing young children running up and down the halls during the night, seeing apparitions and hearing heavy furniture being moved above them even though the fifth floor is the top floor of the hotel.

The Otesaga Hotel

The hotel isn't the only spooky spot to check out in Cooperstown. Nearby Hyde Hall used to be the Clarke family mansion and has been haunted for over 150 years. If you're feeling brave enough, you can even take a ghost tour of the mansion in October.

2. New Orleans, Louisiana

It may actually be easier to list the places in New Orleans that are not haunted. You'll obviously want to check out St. Louis Cemetery, the oldest cemetery in the city, and the Old Absinthe House in the French Quarter, but there are some lesser-known paranormal hot spots you should have on your radar.

Located at 1003 Bourbon St., the Lafitte's French Quarter Guesthouse is supposedly haunted by a 5-year old girl named Marie. She was one of the thousands of children who died in the yellow fever epidemic of 1853, and guests frequently report seeing her in a mirror outside Room 21. Her mother is also sometimes seen roaming the halls of the guesthouse.

The St. Louis Cathedral in Jackson Square is said to be haunted Pere Dagobert, pastor of St. Louis Cathedral in the mid-1700s. Churchgoers have reportedly seen him walking the aisles after a service with his head lowered. This is also the church where Madame LaLaurie, the sadistic slave owner and murderer, preferred to worship.

3. Long Beach, California

There's only one haunted spot you need to see in Long Beach: The RMS Queen Mary. There are supposedly over 150 lost souls roaming this haunted ship. There have been at least 49 deaths on board the magnificent ship, and it is believed the souls of those who have died on the ship may have never left.

The engine room, located 50 feet below water level, is said to be the most haunted spot on the entire ship. Guests have reported seeing a young man wearing blue coveralls walking in the engine room.

4. Weston, West Virginia

What could possibly land the small town of Weston on this list? The Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum, of course. Built in the mid-1800s and intended to house no more than 250 people, the hospital reached its highest capacity of 2,400 patients in 1950 and was eventually closed in 1994. As you can imagine, a lot of mistreatment of the patients took place in its early years, and many souls reportedly never left the facility. There have been several reports of apparition sightings, and you can even schedule a tour of the facility at night if you're feeling brave.

5. Columbus, Ohio

If this building looks familiar, it's because it was used as the set for the popular movie, The Shawshank Redemption, but its real history is much darkerThe Ohio State Penitentiary, also known as Mansfield Reformatory, was a fully operational prison for 94 years, and over 154,000 inmates were housed there in that time. A lot of inmates, around 215, died in the prison. Most died due to disease or illness, but a few died from less natural causes, leaving a sinister energy in the eerie stone prison.

Now, several tours and ghost hunts are hosted at the prison every year, and it is definitely a must-see destination on any horror lover's bucket list.

6. Salem, Massachusetts

We obviously couldn't leave historic Salem off our list. Home to the famous Salem witch trials in the 1600s, Salem is a mecca for fans of the paranormal. Definitely check out the city's rich history by visiting John Proctor's house (Proctor was convicted and hanged for witchcraft in 1692) and the Witch House, which was owned by the famous witch trials judge, Jonathan Corwin.

After you've gotten your dose of history and are ready for the real spooks, visit the Joshua Ward house that was built in 1784. The house is supposedly built on land once owned by an evil and sadistic sheriff who tortured suspected witches during the trials.

7. East Bethany, New York

The second asylum to make our list, the Rolling Hills Asylum in western New York isn't technically an asylum. It was actually the county poorhouse in the early 1800s. The home was open to alcoholics, homeless people, people with disabilities and people with illnesses. The guests paying a small fee to stay in the house were referred to as inmates, and many had to work on the estate's accompanying farm. Several of the "inmates" who died in the Rolling Hills Asylum were also buried on the property.

Now, several different tour options are held each year for those who want to witness some of the paranormal activity that is frequently reported. You can even opt to go on a ghost hunt through the asylum with a psychic, who will tell you which spirits they are able to sense and connect with during your tour.

8. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Philadelphia is home to Eastern State Penitentiary — the first prison in the U.S. The prisoners were punished with brutal and torturous methods. According to NPR, inmates could be subjected to freezing water baths before being left outside in the brutally cold winter weather or placed in the "mad chair," which bound its victims so tightly their limbs would later need to be amputated.

It's not hard to see why this now-closed prison is often referred to as one of the most haunted places in the U.S. Daytime and nighttime tours are held throughout the year if you want to experience some of the reported activity for yourself.

9. Jerome, Arizona

Located high on a hill in the Verde Valley of Arizona, Jerome is now an artist's haven but used to be a ghost town after all the copper mines shut down in the early 1900s.

Jerome Grand Hotel

The most haunted spot in Jerome is the Jerome Grand Hotel. It was originally built as a hospital for tuberculosis patients and injured miners. In its 30 years of operation as a hospital, about 9,000 people died in the building and in the early 1990s, the hospital was completely renovated and transformed into a hotel. Hotel guests report a lot of spooky happenings during their stay at the Grand Hotel. The hotel's most famous ghost is Claude Harvey, a maintenance worker who was found dead in the boiler room in 1935. His death was assumed to be a murder and guests and staff have reported seeing him and other apparitions roaming around the hotel. Orbs and disembodied voices coming from empty rooms are also frequently reported.

10. Gettysburg, Pennsylvania

Gettysburg has been studied by hundreds of paranormal investigators throughout the years because visiting the scene of the famous battle of Gettysburg can almost guarantee a paranormal encounter of some kind. Haunted by the souls of the soldiers who died here, there are numerous ways to have a ghostly encounter in Gettysburg. There are several ghost tours offered throughout the year and paranormal investigations during which you can use scientific equipment to aid your search for spirits, or you can even book a ghostly dinner followed by a ghost hunt.

Justin Theroux Speaks Publicly About Jennifer Aniston Split for the First Time

True to form, Justin Theroux and Jennifer Aniston have kept it classy since their February split, with both remaining relatively mum on the subject. Aniston opened up briefly (and kindly) in recent months, and now Theroux has broken his silence, too. The consensus, based on Theroux’s observations to the New York Times? The love these two shared simply shifted.

More: Justin Theroux's First Post-split Instagram Isn't About Jennifer Aniston

Not surprisingly, much has been speculated about the reason Theroux and Aniston decided to end their marriage. And that, according to Theroux, is part of the reason he is hesitant to discuss their relationship at all. “That’s why I don’t go on Twitter. With the internet, it’s too inelegant a machine to accurately carve truth,” he explained.

With that being said, Theroux did finally offer some of his thoughts on the split.

“The good news is that was probably the most — I’m choosing my words really carefully — it was kind of the most gentle separation, in that there was no animosity,” he said. “In a weird way, just sort of navigating the inevitable perception of it is the exhausting part.”

A Hollywood marriage is, by nature, “kind of a carny lifestyle,” Theroux said. Because celebrities in relationships already spend so much time apart due to disparate work schedules and having to be on location in different parts of the country (or the world), the end of a marriage can look and feel very different than that of a non-Hollywood marriage. It “doesn’t have that seismic shift of an ordinary couple, where everything is, like, you have to tear a baby in half.”

More: Jennifer Aniston Visited a Very Close Friend While Filming in Italy

The marriage just evolved. Or devolved, if you will. Where the love once was, it shifted elsewhere — into an earnest friendship.

“It was heartbreaking,” he admitted before clarifying, “only in the sense that the friendship would not be the same, as far as just the day-to-day. But the friendship is shifting and changing, you know, so that part is something that we’re both very proud of.”

Is that to say there wasn’t any drama at all? That’s probably not entirely accurate. “Again, neither one of us is dead,” he said but noted in the same breath, “neither one of us is looking to throw hatchets at each other.”

So, while there are understandably many emotions at play, Theroux insisted that above all, the split has been one of mutual love and kindness. “It’s more like, it’s amicable,” he said. “It’s boring, but, you know, we respected each other enough that it was as painless as it could be.”

This narrative certainly seems to line up with Aniston’s comments to InStyle last month.

“The misconceptions are ‘Jen can’t keep a man,’ and ‘Jen refuses to have a baby because she’s selfish and committed to her career.’ Or that I’m sad and heartbroken. First, with all due respect, I’m not heartbroken. And second, those are reckless assumptions,” Aniston said, pointing out that no one knows what went on behind closed doors but the couple themselves.

“There are definitely moments of not being balanced and poised, but I do that all in my own personal space,” she revealed.

“For the most part, I can sit back and laugh at the ridiculous headlines because they have gotten more and more absurd,” Aniston added. “I guess they’re feeding into some sort of need the public has, but I focus on my work, my friends, my animals and how we can make the world a better place. That other stuff is junk food that needs to go back in its drawer.”

Meghan Markle's 'Something Blue' Was Just Revealed, & It's So Romantic

In case you weren’t already convinced that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have a real-life fairy-tale romance, HBO’s Queen of the World is here to lay any doubts to rest. A trailer for the upcoming documentary reveals that the Duchess of Sussex makes a cameo during which she shares the super-sweet secret behind the “something blue” she carried when she married her prince.

In the clip, according to the U.K.'s Mirror, Markle sees her wedding dress presumably for the first time since May 19. Not surprisingly, the duchess can’t help but gush about the stunning dress. “It’s amazing, isn’t it? Wow, very pretty. Beautiful.”

But it isn’t just the dress that Markle adores. Speaking with Claire Waight Keller, who designed the Givenchy gown, Markle draws attention to the accompanying veil. “Somewhere in here, there’s a piece of... did you see it? The piece of blue fabric that’s stitched inside? It’s my something blue.”

Admiring the veil, Markle divulged, “It’s fabric from the dress that I wore on our first date.”

These two are too pure for this world. Their love could not be more precious — it simply isn’t possible. (Until next week, when their love proves that, yes, they can always be more precious.)

That wasn’t the only surprising and extremely thoughtful detail Markle incorporated into her veil. She and Keller collaborated to include embroidered flowers symbolic of the 53 nations of the British Commonwealth.

“It was important for me... now being a part of the royal family, to have all 53 of the Commonwealth countries incorporated,” Markle explained. “I knew that it would be a fun surprise as well for my now-husband, who didn’t know, and he was really over the moon to find out that I would make this choice for our day together.”

Their new marriage has already proven their commitment to the Commonwealth nations, and Harry was even recently named the Commonwealth Youth Ambassador by Queen Elizabeth. They will soon embark on their first international royal tour, heading to the Commonwealth nations of Australia, Fiji, the Kingdom of Tonga and New Zealand.

Given the royal family’s commitment to the Commonwealth, Markle told Keller she felt as though they were all touched by the gesture she made with the veil.

“I think the other members of the family had a similar reaction and just appreciation for the fact that we understand how important this is for us and the role that we play, and the work that we’re gonna continue to do with the Commonwealth countries,” she said. “So, yeah, it was good news all around, I think, so I hope people liked it as much as I liked helping to create it.”

It remains to be seen how else Markle and Prince Harry may pop up in the documentary, which premieres Monday, Oct. 1 at 8 p.m. on HBO.

America's Got Talent Star Michael Ketterer Arrested for Domestic Violence

A week that was arguably the biggest of his life ended in disaster for America’s Got Talent fan favorite Michael Ketterer. Days after placing fifth on the TV talent competition’s season 13 finale, the singer was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence

A Los Angeles Police Department media relations officer confirmed to People that Ketterer was charged and taken into custody on Thursday afternoon. His bail was set at $50,000, which he paid, so he was released.

Video footage since obtained by TMZ shows Ketterer sitting in the back of a police SUV and officers appear to be taking notes as they speak with him.

TMZ first broke the news on Friday, revealing that law enforcement was called to the hotel room of Ketterer and his wife, Ivey Ketterer, when the two got into a fight. Although Ivey reportedly had a visible red mark when cops arrived, Michael told TMZ the entire arrest was a big “misunderstanding.”

He admitted the couple had a fight and that the cops were indeed called, but he also claimed Ivey told the cops she didn’t want to press charges.

In response, law enforcement officials told TMZ that the charges will be downgraded to a misdemeanor — not necessarily because Ivey wasn’t interested in pressing charges, but because her injury was so minor, they said.

The news of Michael's arrest will undoubtedly come as a shock to AGT fans and to his biggest supporter on the show, Simon Cowell.

Michael quickly became a viral sensation after his audition performance, for which Cowell hit the coveted Golden Buzzer. This, of course, catapulted Michael straight to the live shows, where he continued to wow fans.

But it wasn’t just his incredible performances that pulled viewers in. Michael and Ivey’s background was a true human interest story.

High school sweethearts, they decided to adopt a child when their daughter Sophie, then 6, asked for brothers. Fast forward to the present, and Michael and Ivey have adopted five sons from foster care. One, Sean, was formerly homeless and living on the streets. Another, Rodrigo, has cerebral palsy.

“He is so inspiring,” Ivey said in footage from the night of Michael's debut. “I mean, what is so amazing about our kids is here is a man who can take all of the spotlight for himself, but he shared the love for his children and to inspire people. So I just hope that they walk away with the quality of a man that he is.”

A Stroke at 23 Left Me Disabled & Questioning My Purpose in Life

I don't remember life before knowing I wanted to become a pediatrician. It was the perfect combination of my two passions: science and service. Every decision and every activity I chose were feeding the flames of that dream. I filled my life with fascinating science classes and worked tirelessly to excel. Every spare moment I had in high school and college was spent on just about any and every service opportunity with children, forging unforgettable bonds and soul-stirring memories along the way.

It was all so fulfilling — it made me feel alive. Deciding which college to go to, which boy to date, or even which dress to buy were virtually impossible decisions for me, but this was the one thing in my life I knew for sure — I felt it in my bones.

Then I had a stroke. And everything changed.

When I was 23, during my second year of medical school at Duke University, I suffered a massive brain stem stroke that left me with locked-in syndrome. I was paralyzed bilaterally from head to toe and unable to speak but unscathed mentally.

Was it as horrifying as it sounds? Yes. And then some. In the past decade since then, I’ve made some progress, but I’m still a far cry from being independent or functional in the slightest. Because of my physical disabilities, I’ve had to drop out of medical school, move back in with my parents and watch every last bit of potential drain out of me.

More: 40 Years of Caring for Others Helped Me Recover From a Coma

I was so close to living my dream, and just like that, it vanished before my eyes, leaving a blanket of hopelessness in its wake. My stroke not only stole my muscles, it stole from me something else — something less noticeable to the naked eye but arguably more important: my confidence. And with my confidence, my conviction followed close behind. Gone is that laser-sharp focus needed for a career in medicine. Gone is that belief that I could (and I would) change the world. All that’s left is a girl with a brilliant mind and nothing to do with it.

Living this life without a purpose when I know I should be capable of more leaves me feeling empty. Despite the state my body is in, I can’t shake this gnawing feeling that I’m not living up to my potential. The disappointment I feel in myself and the disappointment I perceive from the people around me is all-consuming, haunting my every aimless moment. But how do I come up with a brand-new dream, a new purpose, in the middle of my 30s? How is this broken body needed by society? What on earth can this body even contribute?

This may come as a surprise to you, but people with dysfunctional arms, legs and voice are not exactly in high demand. In fact, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the unemployment rate for people with disabilities is more than twice the rate of those without disabilities. That statistic is absolutely paralyzing — no pun intended.

Who would ever hire me? Who would take a chance on me? I tried to reach out to a few folks by email — admissions officers, advisors and other contacts — but most simply stopped responding once they even heard just a little about my disabilities. I’ve even checked out online masters programs in everything from social work to neuro-counseling, and they’re roughly $50,000 to 100,000 — or even more if I went back to medical school. That’s a hell of an investment if I’m not even guaranteed to get a job, right?

I have questions about my capabilities and how the world will see me at every single risk-filled turn of this journey. If I approached this with even an ounce of the determination that used to come so naturally to me, the sky would be my only limit. I would be finding scholarships and inundating people with emails until I got a response. But determination refuses to come naturally to me anymore. I don't believe in myself and my new body enough to even feel worthy of a purpose. The strangling doubts and fierce insecurities in myself have set up shop in my mind, trampling the self-assuredness that had once reigned supreme.

Jay Shetty, "urban monk" and motivational speaker, says that true confidence shouldn’t be tied to something as fickle as one’s appearance. Shetty explains in a YouTube video that one's true impact, value and potential are based on something constant that is beyond the body — a soul, a spirit or a consciousness on the inside. A confidence gained merely through pride in one's looks or talents is a false confidence, one that can't withstand the ever-changing winds.

I used to take pride in my body and all it could do so naturally. I used to love my voice — how it conveyed my vibrant personality and organically created a rapport with everyone I came across. My confidence was completely rooted in that — my body and voice made me feel beautiful, talented and capable of anything. But my stroke stripped all that away. It took away the glitz and glam, peeled back every superficial layer that I once thought defined me and left behind one enduring piece of me, my spirit — a spirit that is still beautiful, compassionate and full of potential. I have to find confidence in that, and that confidence will be pure and lasting regardless of what happens with my recovery.

I know there are opportunities out there for people with disabilities if I truly want to find them. But it takes real confidence to be able to put yourself and your perceived vulnerabilities out there, accept the possibility of failure and start over from scratch. I think I still have something to offer to the world, but I need to turn that tentative thought into an impassioned feeling. I can’t be scared of how people will see me or if they will accept me as long as I see myself as capable. If I can truly build up my confidence, maybe I’ll finally believe I’m worthy of a purpose and capable of anything.

Serena Williams & Meghan Markle Have Relied on Each Other ‘A Lot Recently’

In an interview with Australia's The Sunday Project posted on social media on Sept. 23 (and three days after her controversial 2018 U.S. Open loss), Serena Williams opened up about Meghan Markle and how much they rely on each other as close friends. The way she talked about the Duchess of Sussex, well, it's clear that she's grateful to have Markle in her life.

After the interviewer, Lisa Wilkinson, commented, "I can't actually think of two women in the world right now who have more media scrutiny upon them than you and your friend, Meghan," Williams laughed and replied, "Right?" She added, "I would definitely agree."

Then, Wilkinson asked her, "Do you ring each other with advice on how to deal with this much scrutiny?"

To that, the 23-time grand slam champion revealed exactly how tight she and the British Royal Family member are. "We were actually just texting each other this morning," Williams said. "We have known each other for a long time, but we really are relying on each other a lot recently."

More: Serena Williams Was Asked the Most Annoying Question

Based on Williams' response, she and Markle truly are great friends, who also have the typical BFF relationship. They, like other friends, text and look to each other for advice.

Seeing as this interview was conducted only three days after Williams lost to Naomi Osaka at the 2018 U.S. Open, Williams seemed to be saying she discussed her controversial loss, which also led her to being fined $17,000, with Markle. It was a moment Williams, nor her fans, will ever forget.

More than ever, Williams probably also needed a friend to lean on, which is exactly where Markle came into play. It seems like the former Suits star was there for her friend when she needed her the most. It also sounds like Williams is there for Markle whenever she needs her, too.

Their friendship appears to be solid and one where they genuinely care about each other's happiness. For example, Williams told The Sunday Project about Markle's May wedding to Prince Harry, "The whole service was really wonderful and, most of all, I just wanted to see my friend be happy. I think that's what happened."

One might think Markle is too busy being the Duchess of Sussex and Williams doesn't have time with being a tennis star to maintain friendships. Clearly, that's not the case when it comes to their relationship, which is something to be admired.

Ethan Hawke Tells Us the One Thing He Wants His Famous Daughter to Learn From Him

Ethan Hawke is having quite a year, with the release of First Reformed in May and Juliet, Naked arriving in August. Hawke’s latest artistic project sees him channeling all of his creative energy in a different way: behind the camera. In addition to his acting gigs, he’s directed and cowritten Blaze (currently playing in limited release), a biopic about the hard-living '70s country singer and songwriter Blaze Foley.

If you've never heard of Foley, according to Hawke, you're not alone. When we spoke to him recently, he told us it’s pretty much a miracle that the film got made at all, especially since lead actor Ben Dickey is a folk singer with zero acting experience and Hawke had his own doubts about the film coming together.

More: The Next Generation of Country Singers You Should Listen To

"I thought constantly it would never work," he noted. "If you think it’s easy to get a movie made that stars someone you’ve never heard of about someone you’ve never heard of... it’s pretty hard to raise the money."

Luckily, it all came together, resulting in a deeply felt film about an ill-fated country singer. At its heart, you'll find, Blaze is a love letter to the country music of days gone by. For Hawke, a native of Austin, Texas, this comes from a deeply personal place. He recalled how his deep love for country music helped nurture his bond with his own father.

“My first concert was Willie Nelson," Hawke said. "Red Headed Stranger had just come out and my father was obsessively listening to it. I was maybe 6 or 7 years old. It became a way of getting closer to my father. My mom moved away from Texas, and I would listen to country music to be able to talk to my dad about things and feel closer to him. It became a blanket, a source of happiness. It became a well of learning.”

While Hawke shares a deep bond with his father over country music, he now gets to share an artistic bond with another member of his family: his 20-year-old daughter, Maya Hawke (whose mother is Hawke's ex, actor Uma Thurman). Much like her dad's year, Maya's 2018 has been big, with her star on the rise thanks to her performance in PBS’ Little Women and her upcoming gig on Stranger Things season three. As a father and actor, Hawke can’t help but marvel at Maya’s development as an artist over the years to get where she is today.

“I’ve known that Maya was going to be an artist since she was about 4 years old,” Hawke said. “I mean, she’s born to do this, she loves it. It’s unstoppable. She wanted to talk about Louisa May Alcott morning, noon and night before she got that part. After she got that part, it’s even more. I enjoy talking with her about it and she wants to talk with me about it.”

But Hawke admitted that Maya is at the age where she needs to begin forging her own artistic journey: "She’s in a unique position where she needs to separate herself and find her own way and she needs to absorb what her parents know. She’s doing all that at a remarkable pace."

And while he does speak lovingly of all of the great work Maya is doing, Hawke really hopes his own work ethic has rubbed off on his daughter. "Your actions speak so much louder than words. You can say a work ethic is important, but if they don’t see you get up and work every day and take care of your own craft, why would they take you seriously? There’s nothing you can say — whenever I try to give my daughter advice, she always says, 'Dad, do you think I don’t know that? I’ve lived with you for 20 years, I know exactly how you think about that situation,'" Hawke noted with a laugh.

MoreHere's What Bryce Dallas Howard Told Us About Working With Chris Pratt

We wanted to pick Hawke's brain about whether he'd change anything in the film industry, given that he's spent a decent number of years in the business and is now watching his own daughter work in an ever-changing industry. His reply gave us some important food for thought: "I mean, you can say what you’d change, but like that movie Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, if you change the things that went wrong, you wouldn’t have learned anything."

Blaze is now playing in limited release.

Meghan Markle Has Been Shopping at This Grocery Store in Disguise

No selfies, no politics in public, no eating garlic while traveling, and the list of royal family no-no's goes on for the actor formerly known as just Meghan Markle now that she's the Duchess of Sussex. But apparently, there's one thing Meghan can do: go grocery shopping alone.

More: All the Weird Food Rules the Royal Family Has to Abide By

Meghan's itinerary already seems busy enough — promoting and launching her new charity cookbook, Together: Our Community Cookbook and attending 1,267 events with her beau Prince Harry, among other things. So, one would think typical, everyday chores — including grocery shopping — would be delegated to someone else.

Wrong!

According to People, a source told the publication Meghan reportedly goes incognito to several places, including Pilates and the salon.

Her disguise of choice? A baseball cap.

People’s source continues to say that, in the past, “the only other place she has visited regularly is Whole Foods, which is little more than five minutes away from Kensington Palace. That way she can quickly sneak in and out without anyone noticing it’s her,” the source alleges.

Prince Harry and Meghan seem to be the only royals able to live an as-close-to-normal life as possible.

According to a 2017 interview with Newsweek, Prince Harry said, "People would be amazed by the ordinary life William and I live. I do my own shopping."

"Sometimes, when I come away from the meat counter in my local supermarket, I worry someone will snap me with their phone," he continues. "But I am determined to have a relatively normal life, and if I am lucky enough to have children, they can have one too. Even if I was king, I would do my own shopping.”

And Meghan’s mother could soon be joining her on these incognito grocery store runs. Vanity Fair reports that mom Doria Ragland could get her own place in the U.K. soon to spend more time with Meghan.

“It is something they are talking about," a source told the publication. "I think the idea is that Doria will have a pied-à-terre here so that she has her own space. She wants the ability to be here more often, especially if grandchildren come along.”

So, next time you’re in the U.K. area and happen to be at 63 – 97 Kensington High St., keep an eye out for a dark-haired woman in a baseball cap. It could be the Duchess of Sussex.

With Help From Oprah, Weight Watchers Rebrands as ‘WW’ With Focus on Overall Health

Fad diets come and go (and then usually come back again), but Weight Watchers — which has been around since 1963 — has managed to stick around. Probably the biggest reason for this is that the company adapts to the times and switches up their programming based on societal trends. That has happened once again with its newest rebranding as '"WW" and a focus on overall health and wellness over weight loss.

Under the new tagline "Wellness that works," the aim of the program will be to foster better overall health and well-being with guidelines rooted in science according to a release from the company.

And yes, Oprah Winfrey — who is a board member of the company and owns an 8 percent stake in it — is on board with the changes.

"From the moment I chose to invest in the company and join the board, I have believed that the role WW can play in people's lives goes far beyond a number on the scale," Winfrey said in the statement. "As Weight Watchers becomes WW, I believe we will continue to inspire people not only to eat well, but to move more, connect with others and continue to experience the joys of a healthy life."

Meet the new WW

It's not just the name that has changed: the WW program itself has undergone a number of adjustments to better reflect our evolving concepts of health and wellness. For example, WW has now partnered with the mindfulness and meditation app Headspace to provide specially formulated content for WW members.

Other new features include the WellnessWins program, which will reward users for making small but impactful changes toward a healthier lifestyle, and Fit Points 2.0, which will help members tailor their exercise and fitness goals to their specific set of needs and goals. These new features will launch on Oct. 4.

Of course, new name or not, WW is still a business driven by profits, so the rebranding is also a play to latch onto the current trend of "wellness" — a conveniently vague concept. But at least it's a step in the right direction in the gradual shift toward considering overall health instead of a number on a scale.

Michelle Obama has worn and continues to wear many hats. Once upon a time, she was a lawyer and later, the first lady of the United States. Today she continues to be a wife and mother as well as a writer, public speaker and, as of Saturday, a wedding officiant. That's right: Obama is now officiating weddings, beginning with the Chicago wedding of Stephanie Rivkin and Joel Sircus according to TMZ, and from the looks of the video that was posted of her big moment, she was totally great at it.

Wearing a floor-length black gown, Obama guided Rivkin and Sircus through their vows. In fact, in a video — initially shared on one guest's Instagram story then obtained by TMZ and subsequently reposted elsewhere on Instagram — Obama can be heard saying, “I promise to stand next to and support you through all of life’s trials and trails," which Rivkin repeats.

In addition to showing off Obama's big moment, the video was captioned, "Holy Moly. That moment when Michelle Obama officiated at your [cousin’s] wedding!" implying that Obama's appearance at the wedding was a surprise to the wedding guests. Adding to this suspicion, we saw reports in The New York Times that Obama wasn't the only officiant at the Rivkin-Sircus wedding on Saturday. That honor went to Robert Dresser, a friend of the couple's, who became ordained just for the event and also joined the couple in holy matrimony.

According to People, the reason Obama officiated the wedding was because of her connection with the Rivkin family. Rivkin’s father is Robert S. Rivkin, the deputy mayor of Chicago, and her mother — Cindy S. Moelis — was director of the President’s Commission on White House Fellowships during Barack Obama's presidency.

If you've ever accidentally left a good friend out of a big announcement, don't worry — Carrie Underwood has too. Apparently, Underwood and her husband, Mike Fisher, forgot to tell their longtime friend and Underwood's fellow country star Luke Bryan that Underwood is pregnant with their second child, which she announced publicly back in August. Whoops!

During Entertainment Tonight's interview with Bryan at the iHeartRadio music festival in Las Vegas over the weekend, the news outlet was apparently the first to tell him of Underwood's second pregnancy. When ET asked Bryan about watching Underwood perform at the festival, he apparently got caught off guard by the 'pregnant' part of the question.

"Oh, that's news to me! That she's pregnant," Bryan said. "I'm very, very happy for them!"

"Well I'm gonna send them some fishing rods," Bryan said. "That's so good, I'm so glad to hear that," he added. Still focused on the good news, he told ET he predicts Underwood and Fisher will have another boy.

Those fishing rods are not only an adorable gift but one that speaks to the nature of Bryan's friendship with Underwood's husband, Mike Fisher, whom Bryan noted he's "pretty good buddies" with and who he has bonded with over being "Nashville guys." As he told ET, "[Fisher] has the guy that built his lake, and my fish guy, we're all kinds of linked. Mike's building a pond, I built a pond, that's our big connection… because we have little boys, and little boys have to have somewhere to go fishing."

We'll have to wait to see if Bryan's prediction comes true. In the meantime, Underwood has a lot to celebrate, and we're glad her friends are excited for her — no matter how they hear about her good news.
