Alexander Skarsgård has an, um, interesting new hairdo, which he debuted at the Louis Vuitton exhibition opening in New York on Thursday night.

The haircut is frankly styled to make him look like a balding old man with the top shaved and the sides and back left longer.

Needless to say, the Internet is having a minor panic attack over the change.

Despite the startling and unexpected change to his appearance, Skarsgård appeared to be all smiles at the event.

Now, before you freak out and begin thinking Skarsgård has gone crazy, fear not. His hair has purposely been styled like this for his role in the film The Hummingbird Project, In Style reports. The film, which also stars Jessie Eisenberg and Selma Hayek, is a tech drama that focuses on the financial industry. It will tell the story of two high frequency traders who want to build a fibre-optic cable between states that will make them millionaires.

People reports that prior to the Louis Vitton event, Skarsgard was spotted around town wearing a beanie, which, no doubt, hid his new hairdo until it could be unveiled in all its glory later that evening.

Turns out, Prince Harry was a big fan of Meghan Markle's show Suits, and he was also a big fan of her way before the two even met.

More: Meghan Markle Was Super-Stealthy at Pippa Middleton's Wedding

In the new documentary When Harry Met Meghan: A Royal Romance, royal commentator Katie Nicholl reports Prince Harry told his friends Markle was his "ideal woman" after watching her show.

"He had a crush on Rachel Zane two years before he met Meghan and the reason I know is because I was having drinks with one of his friends," Nicholl said according to Harper's Bazaar.

She added, "She [Harry's friend] told me she'd been on a night out with Prince Harry. He was single at the time, so she said, 'Harry, who's your ideal girl?' And he said, 'Meghan Markle from Suits.'"

After having his eye on Markle for a while, Prince Harry reportedly made the move to meet her by asking a their mutual friend, Markus Anderson, to set up an introduction.

"He asked Markus if he could set up, not a date, but an opportunity for them to meet and that happened in one of the private rooms of Soho House," Nicholl explained. "There were about seven or eight of them altogether and it was a perfect opportunity for Harry and Meghan to come together in a really informal environment and actually talk."

The couple reportedly began dating shortly after the introduction. Who knew Prince Harry was so smooth?

Markle and Prince Harry have been together now for about 15 months and may even already be engaged.

Yes, Reproductive Coercion Is Domestic Violence

$

Remember the time that actor Ian Somerhalder threw out his wife, actor Nikki Reed’s, birth control pills and we were supposed to think it was adorable? In case you don’t, here’s a brief refresher: The two had agreed they wanted to have kids, but after he unilaterally decided it was time to start trying, Somerhalder took it upon himself, in what can only be described as a moralistic fervor, to rid his wife of her pills by flushing them down the toilet without her consent.

“What’s so cool is that there’s this video of me with this handful of these little pills and she’s just [mimics panting and panicking]…panting,” said Somerhalder in an interview. So Reed’s husband removed her agency over when to get pregnant just because they had decided mutually that at some point they would. (Somerhalder and Reed eventually apologized. Let’s hope he actually learned something.)

More: What Your Mother's Reproductive History May Have to Do With Your Fertility

If Somerhalder’s behavior sounds menacing and abusive, it’s because it is. Reproductive coercion is a form of domestic violence in which one person forces pregnancy upon an unwilling partner in the form of unprotected sex. Throwing out someone’s birth control is one example, but there are many more, including poking holes in condoms, hiding birth control and threatening to leave someone if they don’t agree to have unprotected sex with you.

D told me that in her 20s, she had a fling with a man who took the condom off during sex. “‘You didn’t even notice!’ he said. ‘Notice what?’ I asked. ‘In the middle of everything, I took the condom off, and you didn’t even notice,’ he said. I couldn’t believe it. I wasn’t on the pill. I was, like, 21. So angry. I never saw him again.” Later, she experienced reproductive coercion again after getting pregnant unintentionally via her long-term partner, who “pulled out all the stops to convince me to abort, including threats of suicide.” She eventually got a restraining order against him.

In 2013, in an article for The Cut, Kat Stoeffel wrote about Lindsay Clark, an OB-GYN resident in Rhode Island. “I wondered why women were getting pregnant so soon after they came to me for birth control counseling,” said Clark. After she surveyed 641 women seeking care at Providence’s Women and Infants Hospital, she found that 16 percent had been pressured to get pregnant by their husbands or boyfriends, and they were finding it increasingly difficult to use birth control since it was often hidden, sabotaged or they were threatened with harm or abandonment if they did use it.

While reproductive coercion is a type of domestic violence, it also exists alongside other forms of domestic violence we’re more aware of, such as inflicting actual physical pain upon one’s partner, as well as emotional abuse, such as gaslighting. Because reproductive coercion isn’t technically physical, as in it doesn’t always involve physical contact, many women don’t recognize it as abuse or violence.

More: Reproductive Health Options Are Nonexistent for Homeless Women

Doctors and other medical personnel are now being taught to look for signs of reproductive coercion in their patients. In early 2013, the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology authored a series of recommendations on how to screen for reproductive coercion, including questions doctors might ask their patients, such as, “Does your partner support your decision about when and if to become pregnant?” and “Are you worried your partner will hurt you if you do not do what he wants with the pregnancy?” There’s a high rate of unintended pregnancy among women in violent relationships, and a medical history involving a high number of abortions may be an indication that reproductive coercion is taking place (another reason not stigmatize anyone who has had multiple abortions).

Another sign doctors are encouraged to take note of are numerous visits to providers for pregnancy or STI testing.

“So if the patient is coming in frequently, instead of making assumptions about why they’re seeking care, perhaps thinking about how violence and coercion could be impacting the reason why they could be in need of these services,” said Heather McCauley, a social epidemiologist and an assistant professor of human development at Michigan State University, in a 2016 conversation with HuffPost. McCauley cited two different modes of reproductive coercion — one in which the partner threatens to leave if the woman doesn’t comply with his desires and another in which the partner actually tampers with birth control.

For medical providers, there are multiple ways to intervene in reproductive coercion situations. There’s talking with patients about relationships and making sure they are clear about what exactly domestic violence and reproductive coercion are. If the provider has gathered enough information about the patient’s situation, they should then go ahead and ask more direct questions about violence in her relationship followed by connecting her with resources such as The National Domestic Violence HotlineLove Is Respect and Say Something.

9 Things We Love About the Will & Grace Reboot

$

0

Of the many things being sequeled, prequeled, revived, rebooted and everything in between, the most inviting entry into this arena has to be Will & Grace reboot. Admittedly, I haven't always been the biggest Will & Grace fan, so I had some questions about the new show. What could possibly be changed to make Will & Grace fresh and accessible? Would I really want to sit through the staged comedy, the canned joke setups and the cheesy heartfelt moments again? Why were we being subjected to a reboot of this show when the original series was still enjoying a second life in reruns?

More: Our Favorite Jack & Karen Moments From the OG Will & Grace

As it happens, Will & Grace still has a lot of life in it and plenty left to say about our contemporary culture. Bringing back the original cast — Eric McCormack, Debra Messing, Megan Mullally and Sean Hayes — means bringing back a set of thoroughly talented and capable performers who know how to make us laugh and sigh wistfully in equal measure, hitting the comedic and dramatic beats that continue to keep us hooked on this show. In retconning the seemingly final 2006 ending, Will & Grace has found a way to breathe new life into these characters and, in bringing them into the very different world of 2017, has found ways to make us fall in love with this show all over again.

If you, like me, were extremely hesitant to give this reboot a chance, keep reading and see if I can't convince you to give this show a shot.

1. The gang is back together

Will Grace Cast GIF
Image: Giphy

There's something so thrilling about seeing the Will & Grace foursome back together. It's only been a handful of years since the show went off the air, but there's something about seeing these four characters (as well as the actors who play them) come back together — whether they're a little older and wiser is hilariously debatable — and revive their chemistry that crackled with inviting energy for so many seasons.

2. Everyone is dealing with aging

Will Grace Whoa GIF
Image: Giphy

One of the great running themes of the reboot thus far has been how each of the core four is dealing with getting older. As the characters settle into their mid- to late 40s (Jack is a grandpa already!), Will & Grace tackles aging in some very thoughtful ways. We see them reckon with the funnier parts of growing up — like when Jack cakes on makeup and contours his face to appear youthful enough for a hot hookup — and embrace the lessons life has taught them along the way, as was the case when Grace and Leo discussed in his office why their relationship would never work despite the reasons why they used to believe it would.

3. They're confronting ugly truths about their relationships

Will Grace Crazy GIF
Image: Giphy

It's not all sunshine and rainbows on Will & Grace — and that's a good thing. This half-hour comedy is always able to get in at least one good, solid moment where two of the core four characters are confronting each other about their evolving friendship dynamics. Most of the recent examples revolve around Will and Grace, who had to discuss whether their closeness was the reason Grace's marriage to Leo failed. While the ultimate answer was no, asking those honest questions about how their intense closeness could potentially interfere with their other relationships is an idea worth exploring.

4. The jokes are still with the times

Will Grace Woke GIF
Image: Giphy

Oh, yeah, Will & Grace is definitely trying to keep up with the zeitgeist and, for the most part, it works! Sure, it's a little odd to see Jack talk about upping his Grindr game with a new profile photo, but then there are other sly zingers, like when Grace pulled out a bag of Cheetos to match the president's skin tone to possible new drapes after being tasked to redecorate the Oval Office, that let you know this reboot won't be left in the dust.

More: Everything We Know About the Will & Grace Reboot, Including a Season 2

5. Yes, there are some good jokes about President Trump

Will Grace Trump GIF
Image: Giphy

As previously mentioned, Will & Grace isn't afraid to go after President Donald Trump. The entire pilot episode revolves around a trip to Washington D.C. and immediately reveals the show's politics. From guest star Kate Micucci playing a White House tour guide joking that visitor protocols don't matter anymore because nothing matters to Karen sitting like Kellyanne Conway infamously did on an Oval Office couch to Grace leaving a "Make America Gay Again" hat on the president's wingback chair, Will & Grace isn't hiding its distaste for our 45th president.

6. The guest stars are so much fun

Will Grace Jane Lynch GIF
Image: Giphy

So far, we've had some really fun guest stars on this reboot. Familiar faces like Jane Lynch and Andrew Rannells popped up in the fourth episode of the season as camp counselors at a "pray the gay away" style camp that Jack and Will infiltrate to save Jack's grandson. Also, Pitch Perfect's Ben Platt appears in one of the first episodes as a love interest of Will's, but once their age gap really starts to show, Will spends his time educating Platt's character on LGBTQ history rather than hooking up. These fun, vibrant guest stars certainly add some brightness into the mix, and with the unique ways we've seen of writing them into the show, it will be interesting to see who else comes in and where.

7. Jack and Karen still steal the show

Will Grace Karen GIF
Image: Giphy

If you thought Jack and Karen would be boring just because they're getting older, think again. These two frequently stole the spotlight on the Will & Grace of yesteryear, so it comes as no surprise that they're up to their old shenanigans in the reboot. With plenty of opportunities for physical comedy and wry jokes full of sexual innuendo, the Jack/Karen dynamic is super-strong these days.

8. The show is very set on starting fresh in a number of ways

Will Grace Jack's Son GIF
Image: Giphy

As previously mentioned, the Will & Grace reboot did away with the very final series finale in 2006. Back then, Will and Grace broke up after Grace got together with Leo and Will settled down with Vince. They lost touch and didn't meet again until they were moving their children into their freshman dorms at college. In erasing that ending and finding a way to start anew (Grace moves back in with Will after divorcing Leo; Will and Vince are no more), the show opens itself up once again to a bevy of new story arcs. It's not just the themes and types of jokes that make this show fresh and new, but also the artful ways in which the story itself has been changed.

9. It feels like coming home to your friends

Will Grace Friends GIF
Image: Giphy

Seriously, this show is like a warm hug from friends that you just need after a long day. Sure, it can get a little cheesy at times, but in 2017, that can sometimes feel like a relief.

Bethany Joy Lenz Just Signed On for a Grey's Anatomy Guest Arc

It looks like fans won't have to wait long to fill that Martin Henderson-sized hole in their hearts. Fast on the heels of Henderson's departure, news has broken that Grey's Anatomy is gaining a new character. And if you're also a fan of the former series One Tree Hill, go ahead and get hype — Bethany Joy Lenz, aka OTH's Haley James, is coming to Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital.

More: 25 Pictures of the One Tree Hill Cast That'll Give You All the Feels

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lenz has been recruited to help fill the ranks following the departures of Nathan Riggs (Henderson), Megan Hunt (Abigail Spencer), Stephanie Edwards (Jerrika Hinton) and, when the Grey's firefighter spinoff begins, Ben Warren (Jason George).

The word on the street is that Lenz will enjoy a guest arc during this season as a character named Jenny. Unfortunately, that's about as much as we know about Lenz's role at this point in time. You know Shonda Rhimes likes to keep things under lock and key to pump up suspense!

More: Another Actor Is Leaving Grey's Anatomy & It's the Literal Worst

Speaking of Rhimes, this isn't the first role Lenz was offered on one of the creator's shows. Prior to a recasting decision, Lenz was slated to play Zoe in the short-lived Shondaland series The Catch.

Of course, Lenz isn't the only OTH alum to roam the halls of Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital.

Hilarie Burton, who played Peyton on OTH, had a guest arc on Grey's in 2013 as Dr. Lauren Boswell. As you may well remember, she and Arizona had a fling during the blackout that ultimately led to Arizona and Callie's divorce.

Is it too much to hope that Burton will reprise her role so we can have a mini-OTH reunion on Grey's? The fandom has been through a lot in the last few years — we deserve a bit of nostalgic indulgence, wouldn't you say?

Clearly, this sweet couple is loved. With such a celebratory crowd, it's no wonder the wedding was a joyous occasion — one that Leatham describes as "Cher meets a Guns 'N Roses video." Sounds like one heck of a party, eh?

It is also readily apparent that the couple is grateful for the transformative nature of the love they share, which has strengthened their relationship with others.

"It's just amazing when you find someone who kind of teaches you to love yourself more," Haynes told People. "The really great thing about being with Jeff is that since we got together, my relationships with my friends have gotten better, my family relationships have gotten better. When you learn to really love someone, it's completely life-changing. Now we have this beautiful life together and this epic journey ahead."

Well (or should we say Wells?), we can't say we saw this one coming. After that farewell kiss on Season 4 of Bachelor in Paradise, fans were convinced bartender Wells Adams and contestant/longtime friend Danielle Maltby were soul mates. However, reports now link Adams to someone entirely outside of Bachelor Nation: Sarah Hyland.

More: Wells Is the True Winner of Bachelor in Paradise Season 4

In fact, a source told Us Weekly that the Modern Family star and the Bachelorette alum have been "seeing each other for months."

And since something is only real in this day and age if it makes it to social media, here's the hard evidence: The pair appeared to make their relationship Instagram official on Sunday by showing off their Stranger Things-themed couples' Halloween costumes.

For the eagle-eyed fans who've been watching Hyland and Adams flirt on social media over the last few months, the Halloween photos simply serve as confirmation of the suspected relationship. Adams only added fuel to that fire during a recent podcast when he confessed he'd been seeing someone based out of Los Angeles.

Mystery solved, it would seem!

As previously mentioned, Adams had been linked to Maltby in recent months — although it honestly may have been more of a case of Bachelor Nation hardcore 'shipping the longtime friends. As for Hyland, her last known relationship was with Dominic Sherwood, whom she split with in August.

These Yoga Poses Provide Some Serious Relief If You Work a Desk Job

Ugh, desk jobs. I mean, we hate to complain because having a steady income is awesome and all... It's just that working is kind of a pain in the neck. Literally. What we're trying to say is, if you sit behind a desk all day, your neck and back are probably screaming for some relief.

Trust me, I know. As someone who works a regular 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., I’m definitely not immune to the aches and knots that come along with constantly sitting behind a computer — even if I am a die-hard yogi.

From headaches to pain in the neck, shoulders, back, feet and eyes, spending 40-plus hours behind a desk every week can definitely lead to a bit of pain and agony.

More: Don't Let Your Fear of Hot Yoga Scare You Away From Serious Health Benefits

“Being chained to your desk starves your extremities of blood, oxygen, and other fluids, resulting in tight muscles and stiff joints,” wrote Paige Greenfield.

But don’t worry, I’m not here to tell you to quit your day job or invest in a stand-up desk (although that certainly could help). I am here, however, to offer some other possible solutions and relief for any stress and tension you’re feeling as a result of working.

Yoga for your desk job

"There are a lot of very negative physical reactions created when the body's not in movement," said Vyda Bielkus, certified yoga instructor and founder of Health Yoga Life studio, in an article for The Huffington Post. "Between sitting eight hours a day and then being in the elevator looking at your smartphone, you're totally misaligning the spine."

Bielkus suggests practicing yoga postures that target areas of tension, which can be an effective way to re-align the spine after sitting behind a desk all day. As an added bonus, Bielkus notes that the mind-body practice also helps address the damaging stress of a high-pressure job by calming the mind and quieting racing thought patterns.

Yoga instructor and business owner of Aziam, Alanna Zabel agrees. “Being a business owner, I understand very well how important yoga is to keeping balance,” she tells SheKnows. “On days where deadlines and business dominate, I am so blessed to be able to break up the intensity by either practicing or teaching. Just as our computer hard drives need to rest, so do our bodies and minds.”

So before you go grabbing some ibuprofen to relieve you of stiff joints and pain, try taking a couple minutes each day to pop a few of these yoga poses that Zabel recommends instead.

1. Downward Facing Dog

Downward Facing Dog
Image: Maggie Giuffrida/SheKnows

If you've only got time for one yoga pose per day, make it Down Dog. This pose stretches and strengthens many parts of the body, as well as reduces tension in the shoulders, relaxes the neck and gets more blood flowing to the brain. This pose is also great for stretching out those legs that have been sitting all day and the wrists and hands, which may become sore from hours at typing away on a keyboard.

From Mountain Pose (standing position), reach your hands down to the floor, bending your knees if need be. Walk your hands out about three to four feet in front of your toes. Pushing into your palms, lift your hips up toward the sky and press back into your heels, trying to get them flat to the ground. Keep your gaze toward your legs and continue pressing your chest toward your thighs to create a nice flat back.

2. Cobra or Up Dog

Cobra or Up Dog
Image: Maggie Giuffrida/SheKnows

Cobra and Up Dog help improve posture by lengthening the spine and opening up the chest, which counteracts sitting hunched over all day. These two poses also help strengthen the spine, arms and wrists; stretch the chest and lungs, shoulders and abdomen; firm the buttocks; and stimulate abdominal organs.

Cobra or Up Dog
Image: Maggie Giuffrida/SheKnows

Begin by laying down on your stomach, or lower your body down towards the ground through Chatturanga, and then firmly press your palms into your mat alongside your chest. Roll your shoulders back and start to lift your chest up and off the mat, while keeping your hips firmly planted on the floor, keeping a slight bend in the elbows to avoid injuries. Remain here in Cobra, or for a deeper stretch, begin to straighten your arms as you lift your thighs and knees off the ground, pressing into the palms and tops of the feet, and lift your gaze up towards the sky, finding Upward Facing Dog.

3. Extended Side Angle Pose

Extended Side Angle Pose
Image: Maggie Giuffrida/SheKnows

Extended Side Angle strengthens and stretches the legs, knees and ankles, which is certainly needed after sitting all day. This pose also stretches the groin, spine, waist, chest and lungs and shoulders, as well as stimulates the abdominal organs and increases stamina.

Extended Side Angle Pose
Image: Maggie Giuffrida/SheKnows

Starting from Warrior II pose, bring your front forearm to gently rest along the top of your front thigh, allowing it to press into your leg as you turn your chest to lift towards the sky, creating space between your supporting shoulder and head. Pushing through your back foot, so that all five toes are pressing evenly into the ground, keep the back leg extended straight while the front knee stays bent.

To stretch a little deeper, reach your front hand down towards the ground, while you continue to reach your back arm up and overhead. In this variation, the front hand can either come to the inside of the front foot, allowing the shoulder to press firmly into the knee, or bring the arm to the outside of the front foot to make the stretch a little less intense.

4. Bridge Pose

Bridge Pose

Bridge Pose strengthens the entire backside, including upper back, glutes and hamstrings, which can become tight from sitting all day.

Bridge Pose

Lying flat on your back, arms by your sides, bend your knees and plant your feet on the floor, bringing your heels as close to your bottom as you can. With your palms pressing into the floor, lift your hips off the ground and up towards the sky. Hold here for four to eight breaths, continuing to push through the feet and lifting the hips as high as you can, or choose to roll your shoulder blades underneath you, clasping your hands together to form a fist. When releasing, gently release your hands and slowly roll your spine back down to the floor, one vertebra at a time.

5. Child's Pose

Child's Pose

Child's Pose helps to focus your mind, open the shoulders and hips and bring you inward by grounding the third eye.

Begin in Table Top position, on all fours, and then separate your knees about mat-width distance apart, connect your big toes together and begin to sink your hips back towards your heels. Take a deep inhale and as you exhale, lay your torso down between your thighs, so that you are nestling between your legs. Extend your arms out in front of you, continuing to reach through the fingertips, and gently release your forehead to the floor, relaxing here for one to three minutes.

6. Savasana

Savasana
Image: Maggie Giuffrida/SheKnows

Savasana helps to release tension in the body and mind, and relieve stress and anger, bringing the body to a more balanced and clear state.

Lying flat on your back, arms by your side, legs extended out in front of you, allow your palms to face up to the sky and feet to turn out to the opposite sides of the room. Close your eyes and release any tension from your hands, feet, face and body. Try to bring your focus back to your breath, taking deep inhales and exhales through the nose. Lay here for a few minutes, thanking your mind and body for all the hard work it did throughout the day.

Dressing up as a Disney princess for Halloween this year seems especially appropriate — because, let's face it, we're queens of procrastination. Yup, here we are at the 11th hour and still no costume, but these DIY Belle, Ariel and Elsa options are here to save the day.

Sure, there's a little pushback about princess obsessions starting at a young age, which some psychologists even call "Princess Syndrome," but we believe that when you pay attention to the storylines, Disney princesses are often the most feminist of them all. These leading ladies make perfect adult costume choices for Halloween.

Materials:

  • Lace shirt (cream, blue or nude)
  • 2 yards stretchy light blue knit
  • 2 yards teal lace
  • Matching thread
  • Double needle (optional)
  • Sparkly earrings
  • White or flesh-colored shoes

Directions:

Step 1

Fold your 2 yards of knit fabric in half, with the stretch of the fabric going across the fabric, as shown. Measure right above your bust (where the top of the tube dress will sit) and divide this number in half. Use this as the top measurement of your tube dress, as shown, then cut the rest of the dress as shown, making it as flared at the hem as you'd like.

Step 2

Fold your 2 yards of lace in half, as shown. Cut a cape-like shape, making the measurement of the top wide enough to fit across your back and end under your armpits.

Step 3

Take your dress and fold it in half with right sides of the fabric together and sew it from the top to the bottom with a straight stitch, as shown. Turn right side out and press your seam flat with an iron.

Step 4

Take the top of your dress and fold the top over, as shown above. Pin in place, and then pin the lace cap to the folded edge as well. Sew all the way around the opening with a straight double stitch (using your double needle). [Using the double needle will allow for some stretch so you can pull it over your bust and avoid having to use elastic. Alternatively you can use a zigzag stitch, although it doesn't allow for quite as much stretch.]

Step 5

Cut the dress to your desired length, and cut a slit if you'd like.

To complete the look, wear the dress over a cream, blue or nude lace top, throw on a pair of sparkly earrings, like these ones, and do your hair in the classic Elsa braid using this hair tutorial. Throw on a pair of white or nude colored shoes and then let it go all Halloween night long!

Step 1

Fold 1 yard of your fabric in half with the stretch of the fabric going across the width, as shown. Cut a simple tube skirt (either using a fitted skirt you already own or your measurements as a guide).

Step 2

Fold the second yard of fabric in half with the stretch of the fabric going across the length, as shown. Cut a symmetrical half circle as big as your fabric will allow, and then cut a symmetrical circle in the middle to make it a donut shape. This will be the bottom of the skirt for the "mermaid tail."

Step 3

Take the tube skirt and fold it in half with right sides of the fabric together and sew along the back of the skirt from top to bottom with a straight stitch, as shown.

Step 4

Measure loosely around your ankles (where the end of the tube skirt will meet the ruffle), and cut a piece of elastic in that length. Sew the ends of the elastic together to make a loop, and then stretch it to pin all the way around the opening of the skirt ruffle. Sew all the way around the skirt opening, stretching the elastic as you sew. Once you finish sewing and let go of the elastic, it will scrunch up and become a ruffle.

Step 5

Pin the ruffle on the skirt with right sides together (as shown), and sew across the elastic again, stretching as you sew.

Step 6

Fold the waistband of the skirt over and sew around it with a straight stitch. Leave a few inches open, as shown, and then insert a piece of elastic cut to your waist measurement. Once the elastic is inserted, sew the ends together, then tuck them inside the waistband and sew the waistband completely closed.

I started with a blue dress then layered a white shirt underneath for the collar and long-sleeved look. But you could use a blue skirt or dress you already own (or make yourself one using this easy circle skirt tutorial).

The classic pieces that make this outfit are the apron and the bow, and those are both easy to make.

Fertility Preservation Allowed This Woman to Have a Baby Post-Breast Cancer

When Alice Crisci was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 31, she was frightened and in shock.

“I wasn’t scared of dying of breast cancer,” she says, “I was afraid I wasn’t going to get to be a mom.”

Crisci has always felt called to be a mother, and through the years had considered all her options — including adoption.

“That was always on the table, but the idea that one of my choices would be stripped for me made me angry and really profoundly sad,” she explains. “I cried when I realized that. The sadness and anger really came from the idea that the biological choice would be stripped from me or taken away.”

More: Knowing When to Draw the Line on Fertility Treatment

Deciding to take ownership of her reproductive future, Crisci decided to freeze her eggs. She says she “didn’t have $20,000 lying around,” so she put it on a credit card.

The egg-freezing process is the same whether or not you have cancer. Because this was almost 10 years ago, fertility clinics weren’t yet using the more modern techniques used today that result in a much higher successful thaw rate. Crisci was told she only had a 2- to 3-percent chance her eggs would be viable. When she learned this, Crisci advocated to find a sperm donor and fertilize half her eggs before freezing them.

“That was as really empowering experience, to go through it, even though it’s not the most pleasant thing to be giving yourself injections twice a day and tricking your ovaries into growing all these follicles,” Crisci says. “It was the one thing I could do by myself.”

What was tricky given her cancer diagnosis was that Crisci had to make these major decisions in a much shorter period of time. In fact, she only had five days to make her mind up about how to move forward with her fertility preservation.

More: Infertility Myths That Need to Go Away Right Now

“The difference between someone with cancer versus someone without cancer is that for those without it, there’s no urgent medical need in timing,” she explains. “We had a small window to make all these massive decisions.”

After freezing the combination of fertilized and unfertilized eggs, Crisci went through three years of treatment involving chemotherapy and surgery. Around five years after doing fertility preservation, she had her first embryo transfer. The first attempt worked, and she became pregnant right away, and now is mother to Dante, her 4-year-old son.

After turning her dream of motherhood into a reality several years later, Crisci wanted to do something to help others in her position, so she developed MedAnswers, an interactive educational platform guided by medical experts.

“I set up MedAnswers so they could get their questions answered quickly,” Crisci explains. “When it comes to cancer [and fertility perseveration], you’ve got to get in really fast to move forward. I had built up relationships through the years, so now we’ve made that available in technology so that everyone across the globe can get the answers they need when they need them.”

MoreTrying to Conceive? The Important Test Your Gynecologist Isn't Telling You About

The site works by connecting patients directly with the experts in such a way that the patient gets to be anonymous (the doctors can’t) and ask health questions. Then the experts up-vote each other’s answers. There are currently more than 70 doctors involved who each participate as a complimentary service.

Right now, MedAnswers is focused on the infertility and reproductive health space, but Crisci hopes to expand that soon to include pregnancy, infancy, allergy and immunology.

“I just wanted to put this trusted network together so everyone could access it regardless of socio-economic status or whether they have insurance,” she explains. “Even if people can’t afford to do the [fertility] services, they have a right to get the answers they need so they can make the choices that are right for them and their families.”

What to Know Before Committing to a Health Plan

$

0

No matter how much you love shopping, there's at least one item that may prove much trickier than others to cross off your list: health insurance. You can't simply toss it in your cart and drop it on the conveyor belt at checkout. Rather, choosing the right plan for your family involves research (learning the lingo doesn't hurt either). And since choosing the wrong plan could be a costly mistake, there's an inherent level of pressure thrown in the mix too.

More: What Health Care Reform Means for Your Family

Are you ready for the good news? If you keep in mind a few key factors while shopping for insurance, the process isn't nearly as perplexing as it seems at first glance. Here are five important considerations.

1. How do you want to access your care?

One of the first things confronting you on your quest to find health insurance will be a slew of letters: HMO, POS, PPO, EPO... eesh! What does it all even mean? Well, each of these acronyms represents the most common choices when it comes to selecting health insurance. Here's how it breaks down.

HMO, or Health maintenance organization: Many people opt for HMOs because they can be one of the most affordable options. They generally have lower monthly premiums and lower cost-sharing compared to other plans. The trade-off is network restrictions — you can choose a primary care physician, but you typically need referrals for specialists. All routine care is usually covered by doctors within the HMO's network, meaning no care out of network is covered. In short, you'll want to make sure you like the network prior to committing.

PPO, or preferred provider organization: This is a network of medical doctors and other health care providers who work with insurance companies to give care at a lower cost. Though the insurance company may pay for some out-of-network costs, they’ll usually pay more when you stay in-network. Ultimately, though, PPOs are less restrictive than HMO or POS plans.

2. Consider the difference between high deductible and traditional health plans

High Deductible Health Plans often have lower monthly premiums and are a growing choice for people who don’t have regular medical issues. While High Deductible Health Plans may have higher out-of-pocket costs until the deductible is met, the monthly cost of coverage is typically lower, so people seeking non-preventive care less frequently can often save money with these plans. It’s important to know what the deductible amounts are for these kinds of plans and have a plan for how to pay that amount should you need to. Traditional plans generally have lower out-of-pocket costs for care like non-preventive doctor's visits but higher monthly premiums.

An additional benefit of High Deductible Health Plans is that they may also make you eligible for a Health Savings Account (HSA). An HSA lets you can set aside pre-tax dollars and use them toward eligible health care expenses. An HSA provides a triple-tax advantage — tax deductible contributions to the account, tax-free dividends and accumulation of interest, and tax-free distributions for certain medical expenses. And, the HSA has no 'use it or lose it' rule, so you get to keep any remaining money even if you change plans, change employers, or retire.

More: When Is the Best Time to Get Your Flu Shot?

3. Not every plan covers prescriptions

If you take prescription drugs, knowing whether they are covered under the health insurance plan you choose is critical. It could make a huge difference in monthly out-of-pocket costs (think $10 vs. $1,000 to fill your prescription). Before you decide on a plan, make sure you pore over the insurance company's Prescription Drug List to see what exactly is covered.

4. A low premium doesn't necessarily make a plan the most cost-effective

Pull out your calculator, because shopping for health insurance involves its fair share of number-crunching. Sure, picking the plan with the lowest premium sounds good, but before signing on the proverbial dotted line, you'll want to devote some thought into how things like copays (a fixed dollar amount for a covered health service, like $30 for a doctor's visit), your annual deductible (the dollar amount you have to pay for covered health care services before your health insurer or plan starts to pay) and coinsurance (your share, calculated as a percentage, of the health care costs for a covered service) can drive up the cost of that low-premium plan. Don't forget to factor in how much savings you'll need to deal with those extra expenses.

More: The Best Gifts to Give Someone Recently Diagnosed With a Serious Illness

5. It can pay to "shop" around

As any avid shopper knows, you get the best deal when you're willing to go the extra mile and comparison-shop. This is especially true in the case of health insurance when it comes to your employer's plan. While it's nice to have health insurance offered through your place of employment, you could potentially save money by seeking out a policy of your own.

That said, it's important to look at more than the cost of copays and premiums. A health plan may offer additional benefits that are important for a certain stage in your life, such as exercise incentives, smoking cessation programs or maternity or diabetes programs.

Justin Hartley Got Married, & I Need a Minute

While we were all getting our Halloween vibes on over the weekend, The Is Us star Justin Hartley was just low-key getting married. And let me be very clear when I say that his wife is legitimately perfect for him. Like, I can't even with these two because they're a match made is soap opera (and actual) heaven.

More: Young and the Restless Finally Makes a Decision on Adam Newman

In a Saturday ceremony that Us Weekly described as "elegant," Hartley tied the knot with actor Chrishell Stause, and of course some of our fave This Is Us stars were there to celebrate with the happy couple, including Mandy Moore, Chrissy Metz and Milo Ventimiglia.

Two weeks before the wedding, Hartley chatted with Us Weekly and absolutely gushed about his bride-to-be, so yeah, it's pretty safe to say these two are super in love.

"I love the fact that she’s going to be my wife," he said at the time. "I love the fact that I will have a wife and we’ll be husband and wife and live together. I love that, but I’m actually looking forward to the wedding day. I’m going to have friends coming in from out of town that I haven’t seen in a few years. It’s going to be great."

Stause is also an up-and-coming star, and you may recognize her from her role on Days of Our Lives. She's also from the tiny town of Draffenville, Kentucky, where she grew up in a population of less than a thousand people, so you know she's a good match for Hartley, who is laid back and down to earth. Stause and Hartley also support a lot of the same charities and regularly attend fundraisers and other events hand-in-hand. If that's not a good sign for a happy marriage, we're not sure what is.

The couple met while they both worked on The Young and the Restless and have been together for a few years now. This is Hartley's second marriage and Stause's first.

Corey Haim's Mom Says Corey Feldman's Sexual Assault Claims Aren't True

Updated Oct. 30, 2017, 8 a.m. PT: Corey Feldman is doubling down on his claims that he's going to expose a pedophilia ring in Hollywood, while Judy Haim, mother of his longtime friend Corey Haim, says Feldman is making it all up and trying to con people out of the money he's raising for his exposé film.

"He’s been talking about revealing the names of his and other abusers for seven years since my son died," Haim said. "Now he wants $10 million to do it? Come on. It’s a long con. He’s a scam artist. If he was serious about this, he’d share the information he has with the police."

Feldman has long claimed that Haim was also a victim of multiple incidents of sexual assault when they were child actors. Haim's mother refutes that claim, saying her son (who died in 2010) was molested one time by one person.

"It’s disrespectful to sexual assault survivors and their loved ones in and out of the industry to get their hopes up about uncovering a massive conspiracy because he will not name names — ever," she said. "And if these people really are out there, and potentially [still] a danger, why wouldn’t he want to name them right now?"

Feldman responded to Haim's accusations by taking to Twitter to call her a "bad woman who vehemently protects evil."

Feldman also spoke to Today and doubled down on his statements about a child sex ring in the entertainment industry.

"I believe there's a lot of darkness in Hollywood right now, and I believe it's been there for quite some time," he said. "It's going to continue unraveling. This is just the beginning. It's just the tip of the iceberg."

Original story:

Corey Feldman has long been speaking out about the alleged abuse he endured at the hands of at least one powerful Hollywood individual when he was a child star. Now, on the heels of a string of accusations and takedowns of powerful people accused of sexual misconduct starting with Harvey Weinstein Feldman is once again working to make his voice heard.

In a nearly seven-minute video accompanying an Indiegogo campaign, Feldman explains that he wants to raise money to produce a feature film shedding light on pedophilia in the entertainment industry, something he says is still a pervasive problem.

"What I am proposing is a plan that can literally change the entertainment system as we know it," he says. "I believe that I can also bring down, potentially, a pedophile ring that I have been aware of since I was a child. Right off the bat, I can name six names, one of them who is still very powerful today. And a story that links all the way up to a studio. It connects pedophilia to one of the major studios."

More: Corey Feldman Wasn't Joking When He Said He Was Getting Married Very Soon

Feldman has a fundraising goal of $10 million, and as of Thursday morning, he had raised nearly $100,000.

"I propose to do this by making a film that will be [the most] honest and true depiction of child abuse ever portrayed, by telling my own story in a very real way, in a very honest way, with no editing, no censorship, no studio behind it," he continues. "I will make the film, I will direct the film, I will produce the film, and I will self-distribute it to guarantee it gets a theatrical release with your donations. Additionally, it will help me buy the security and the legal team I need to protect my family."

Feldman adds, "Once it’s done, I believe we can revolutionize the film industry in a way that we can root out the evil and make it safe for our kids again. Not just the entertainment industry, the entire world, the entire planet can come together over this issue because our children are the most sacred things we have," he says.

Feldman, who has been speaking out for a number of years about he and his friend, Corey Haim, being molested by powerful execs as child stars in the '80s, also calls for other child stars to come forward with their own stories.

Kathy Griffin's Recent Video Rant Confirms She's Still Feuding With Andy Cohen

It's no secret that Andy Cohen and Kathy Griffin are not friends. But Griffin just took their feud to a whole new level with a nearly 20-minute video accusing Cohen of drug use and misogynistic behavior.

More: Kathy Griffin May Have Been Questioned by the Secret Service

In the video, a stoic Griffin sits in front of a camera and responds to an interview Cohen did with TMZ photographers outside Los Angeles International Airport last week, where he said he didn't know her. In her video, Griffin refuted Cohen's statements by detailing two times she went on his show, Watch What Happens Live, saying he offered her cocaine both times.

"Both times I did the show, right before we went live, Andy Cohen privately asked me in an office if I wanted to do blow," Griffin said. "I’ve never had a drink in my life. You guys know I’m no prude, but I’m kind of like a straightedge, I thought he was kidding the first time."

She added, "I was hoping he was kidding, the second time I do the show, same thing. So once again we’re alone in an office and he’s like, ‘Wanna do some coke?’ And I’m thinking, ‘He’s serious!’ Trust me, he’s going to say he’s kidding and everything... no. He was asking me to do cocaine with him. That made me very uncomfortable."

Griffin said Cohen's behavior is the reason she never went on his show again.

In addition to those instances, Cohen was Griffin's boss for a decade, and she claims he behaved inappropriately in that capacity as well.

"Treated me like a dog. Deeply misogynistic," she said.

Cohen has responded to Griffin's allegations in a tweet, writing, "I am completely stunned by this story. It is 100% false and totally made up."

Kim Kardashian West Offended Fans With Her Aaliyah Halloween Costume

Kim Kardashian West is an icon in her own right, but when it comes to Halloween, she typically steps into the shoes of legends bigger than her. For this holiday, the she channeled three music legends: Cher, Madonna and Aaliyah. And though Kardashian West saw tons of positive feedback for her arguably uncanny costumes, she was also heavily criticized for dressing up like a black woman.

On Saturday, Kardashian West tweeted a video of her Aaliyah costume. The ensemble consisted of sleek, pin-straight hair, smoky-blue eye shadow, leather pants and a diamond-encrusted choker, bra and belt. “Baby Girl Aaliyah,” she captioned the video, referring to the late R&B singer’s nickname.

Though some followers praised Kardashian West for her Aaliyah-inspired outfit, others considered the look disrespectful considering the reality star isn’t the same race as Aaliyah. On the flip side, some on the internet defended Kardashian West’s look. Her supporters argued that since she didn’t wear blackface, the costume was a simple homage and not racially insensitive. However, others contended that Kardashian West’s darker-than-usual tan was an attempt to emulate Aaliyah’s skin tone.

Kardashian West has yet to respond to the Aaliyah backlash, so we guess we’ll just have to wait for Halloween on Tuesday to see if she’s going to stir up controversy again or play it safe with her costume.

Is Kevin Spacey Using His Sexuality to Deflect Sexual Assault Allegations?

Updated October 30, 2017, 11:10 a.m. PT: In the wake of BuzzFeed's exclusive interview with Broadway star Anthony Rapp, who came forward with allegations of untoward sexual advances made while he was a minor by an adult Kevin Spacey, there's been much discussion and some consternation about the things Spacey said in his apologetic statement. Issuing the apology within hours of the story's publication, Spacey also used that space to come out as a gay man. While some contend this has been an open secret for years and that it's not exactly new news, others are pointing out that Spacey's coming out feels like an inaccurate and irresponsible deflection of the allegations levied against him.

Chief among the detractors of Spacey's coming-out timing is GLAAD, who released a statement on Monday morning to comment on their feelings about Spacey's actions. "Coming-out stories should not be used to deflect from allegations of sexual assault," Sara Kate Ellis, president and CEO of GLAAD, wrote in the group's official statement. "This is not a coming-out story about Kevin Spacey, but a story of survivorship by Anthony Rapp and all those who bravely speak out against unwanted sexual advances. The media and public should not gloss over that."

Original story:

House of Cards star Kevin Spacey faces serious accusations of sexual assault made against him by Broadway and Star Trek: Discovery star Adam Rapp. In an extended interview published on BuzzFeed on Sunday, Oct. 29, Rapp recalled the events around Spacey's alleged sexual assault on him in 1986. Shockingly, this means that Rapp alleges this happened when he was 14 years old and Spacey was 26.

More: Kevin Spacey & Gordon Ramsay Can't Stop Swearing at Each Other

According to BuzzFeed's report, Rapp has been carrying the pain of that one evening with him in the 30-odd years since it allegedly happened. Regardless of the fact that both he and Spacey have gone on to have monumentally successful careers in film, television and theater, it's clear from Rapp's account that what may have happened has imprinted deeply on him and has been with him ever since.

BuzzFeed writes that at the time, Rapp was starring in a play alongside actor Ed Harris. Rapp's success and the prominence of the show meant he was able to hobnob with actors in the New York theater scene at various functions and get-togethers. Spacey was one such actor, who was himself in the early days of a soon-to-be successful career. Rapp was comfortable being around adults, and so for most of an evening spent at a gathering at Spacey's apartment, he was more bored than nervous at being the youngest person there. That was until he eventually realized he was the only person left at Spacey's place.

Rapp tells BuzzFeed, "[m]y memory was that I thought, 'Oh, everybody's gone. Well, yeah, I should probably go home.'" He also says Spacey "sort of stood in the doorway, kind of swaying," continuing with, "My impression when he came in the room was that he was drunk.” From there, Rapp says, "[Spacey] picked me up like a groom picks up the bride over the threshold. But I don't, like, squirm away initially, because I'm like, 'What's going on?' And then he lays down on top of me.”

Shortly after the story was published, Rapp posted a short statement thread to his Twitter where he wrote that he was able to come forward with his account of what allegedly happened because of the recent waves of brave women and men coming forward with their own stories of alleged sexual assault at the hands of men like Harvey Weinstein, Roy Price and director James Toback.

Additionally, while BuzzFeed reports that Spacey did not (through his reps) respond to verbal requests for comment, the actor did post his own written apology and statement to his Twitter account. In a surprising move, after apologizing to Rapp, Spacey also came out as a gay man.

"I have a lot of respect and admiration for Anthony Rapp as an actor. I'm beyond horrified to hear this story. I do not remember the encounter, it would have been over 30 years ago. But if I did behave then as he describes, I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior, and I'm sorry for the feelings he describes having carried with him all these years," Spacey began.

He then went on to address his own sexuality in a second paragraph, using the topic of stories which have come out about him over the years as a segue to officially coming out as a gay man. "This story has encouraged me to address other things about my life. I know that there are other stories out there about me and that some have been fueled by the fact that I have been so protective of my privacy. As those closest to me know, I have had relationships with both men and women. I have loved and had romantic encounters with men throughout my life, and I choose now to live as a gay man. I want to deal with this honestly and openly and that starts with examining my own behavior."

We already learned that when an eagle-eyed Twitter user discovered that newly engaged Game of Thrones stars Kit Harington and Rose Leslie are probably related, and all it takes to see it is a little look at the genealogy sections of their Wikipedia pages.

Kit Harington and Rose Leslie are actually related?????

Kit Harington and Rose Leslie are actually related?????

Awkward.

And they're not the only ones. According to the Mail, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who everyone expects to be announcing their wedding pretty much any minute now, also have a distant relative in common.

More: Are These Hollywood Couples Going to Get Engaged Soon?

Before you freak out, know that the relative they share is from the late 15th century. So when we say distant, we really mean distant. Honestly, when you get that far back, pretty much everyone is related.

What's really interesting about this revelation is that the relative Prince Harry and Markle share is High Sheriff of County Durham Ralph Bowes. In 1632, Ralph's grandson, Christopher Hussey, moved to Nantucket, and it's his bloodline that leads us to Markle. Additionally, Ralph's great-grandson, Sir George Bowes, served in the British Parliament under Prince Charles II. And this all comes full circle back to Harington and Leslie, because amusingly enough, their common ancestor is Charles II, which means that the distant shared relative of these GoT actors ruled over the distant shared relative of the royal lovebirds. It's like European celebrities are all involved in one big game of Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon, only rather than Bacon being the connective tissue, it's just a lot more royalty and lot more oddness.

Seriously, though, everyone, let's stop making all these cute celeb pairings awkward by finding out how couples are related. This isn't exclusive to celebrities, and it isn't even really news.

If you’re like me, you may be the kind of person who loves their bush and prefers minimal landscaping. However, this doesn’t mean we can’t groom ourselves. You may have heard of beard oil, an oil designed to leave beards silky smooth and shiny. Well, for those of us who want to have the same benefits applied to our hair down there, bush oil is here, and it’s ready to make you feel sexy.

Pubic hair is often dry, coarse and wiry leaving little to feel sexy about. These characteristics are a major reason people choose to groom and style their bushes.

One study exploring the frequency and reasons for body hair removal in a sample of 235 Australian undergraduate women showed that while 60 percent of participants partially removed their pubic hair, 48 percent removed most or all of it. The reasons behind pubic hair removal were attributed to sexual attractiveness and enhancement based on exposure to media or the opinion of a partner.

Anna Luciano, a Toronto-based aesthetician and owner of Lashes & Lipstick, says that people who choose to groom their bushes do so "because it helps them feel more confident and clean," adding that the style of hair removal or lack thereof comes down to personal preference.

For people who opt for the partial removal of their pubic hair, she says that bush oil is “a great idea for those who like to leave a landing strip or patch as it will keep the hair left behind soft.”

Adding bush oil to your hair trimming routine may come with some added health benefits, including a decrease in the risk of STIs, dust and bacterial prevention, minimized risk of contracting a viral infection, fewer ingrown hairs and itchy bumps, regulated vaginal temperature and finally, strengthened pheromones. So if you're a fan of a lustrous patch of hair in your nether regions, you may want to give bush oil a chance to help you shine.
