All the Celebrities Who Have Accused Harvey Weinstein of Sexual Misconduct — So Far

In early October, The New York Times published an exhaustive exposé on decadeslong sexual harassment allegations against movie mogul Harvey Weinstein. At the time, the publication detailed how the disgraced film executive had paid off at least eight women. And in the time since, even more women have come forward with shocking stories of abuse.

Weinstein's victims run the gamut from fleeting assistants to models to top Hollywood talent — all sharing a similar narrative of the ways Weinstein forced himself upon them or tried to coerce them into sexual acts.

As the story continues to unfold, another pattern emerges: that of an extremely powerful, wealthy man using his influence and means to silence any woman who would dare speak out against him. Only now, emboldened by the Times exposé, these women are coming forward.

Slowly but surely, the stories are beginning to surface with increasing frequency. Below are the accounts of all the women who were allegedly subjected to his sexually deviant behavior.

Dominique Huett

On Tuesday October 24, actor and model Dominique Huett came forward to allege that in November 2010, Weinstein brought her to a hotel room at the Beverly Hills hotel where he forcibly performed oral sex on her without her consent. Operating in a manner extremely similar to other testimonies, Huett claims Weinstein moved the conversation from her career to Weinstein asking if she could give him a massage. When she declined, Huett says that Weinstein was persistent and eventually he wore her down.

Weinstein then allegedly began to suggest he perform oral sex on Huett. In a lawsuit being filed by Huett against The Weinstein Company, the following details are included: "Weinstein displayed persistence and would not take ‘no’ for an answer. Weinstein initiated and Plaintiff froze as Weinstein removed her clothing and performed oral sex on her. Weinstein performed oral sex on Plaintiff for several minutes. After performing oral sex on Plaintiff, Weinstein masturbated in front of Plaintiff until he reached orgasm."

According to Refinery29's report, Huett's lawyers are also pushing to have Huett's lawsuit allowed in court despite falling outside the statute of limitations because they claim she was not made aware of The Weinstein Company's complicity last month.

Lupita Nyong'o

In an op-ed written for The New York Times, Lupita Nyong'o started by explaining that she too had been part of the "conspiracy of silence." It wasn't until she saw so many women coming forward that Nyong'o stopped blaming herself and realized her own encounter with Weinstein was "a sinister pattern of behavior" on the movie mogul's part.

"I met Harvey Weinstein in 2011 at an awards ceremony in Berlin, while I was still a student at the Yale School of Drama. An intermediary introduced him to me as 'the most powerful producer in Hollywood.' As an aspiring actress, I was of course eager to meet people in the industry but cautious about strangers, and the intentions of men in general. So I tried to vet this famous producer by asking my dinner-table companions what they knew of him. A woman who was a producer herself cautiously advised me to 'keep Harvey in your corner.' She said: 'He is a good man to know in the business, but just be careful around him. He can be a bully.' And so I exchanged contacts with him in the hopes that I would be considered for one of his projects," wrote Nyong'o.

However, upon arriving at Weinstein's home for a movie screening, things took a decidedly insidious turn. About 15 minutes into the film, Weinstein told Nyong'o he wanted to show her something.

"Harvey led me into a bedroom — his bedroom — and announced that he wanted to give me a massage," Nyong'o recounted. "I thought he was joking at first. He was not. For the first time since I met him, I felt unsafe. I panicked a little and thought quickly to offer to give him one instead: It would allow me to be in control physically, to know exactly where his hands were at all times."

She continued, "I began to massage his back to buy myself time to figure out how to extricate myself from this undesirable situation. Before long, he said he wanted to take off his pants. I told him not to do that and informed him that it would make me extremely uncomfortable." When he started to take his pants off anyway, Nyong'o moved for the door and managed to leave. His kids were in the next room the entire time.

A few months later, Weinstein would proposition Nyong'o in a restaurant, telling her that she had to do certain things if she hoped to have any career. She refused, and a few years later rejected Weinstein's repeated requests to have her star in one of his films.

Ashley Judd

The Times exposé opened with a powerful story about Ashley Judd when, two decades ago, she was allegedly invited to Weinstein's Peninsula Beverly Hills hotel room. A young actor at the time, she assumed it was for a business breakfast meeting. However, when she arrived, she claims she found Weinstein waiting in a bathrobe. He asked her for a massage or if she could watch him shower. "How do I get out of the room as fast as possible without alienating Harvey Weinstein?" Judd told the Times she remembers thinking.

For Variety's Women in Power Issue in 2015, Judd previously shared the story of her encounter, albeit without mentioning Weinstein by name. In detail, the actor described how one of the industry's most famous movie moguls had lured her into his hotel room and made sexual advances on her. At the time, she told Variety, "This will be familiar to all the women to whom this has happened. I have a feeling we are a legion."

Rose McGowan

The Times piece also identified Rose McGowan, who starred in the Weinstein-distributed 1996 film Scream, as a victim. A legal document reviewed by the Times revealed that the then-23-year-old actor had reached a $100,000 settlement with Weinstein over an incident in a hotel room during the Sundance Film Festival. The legal document reportedly underscored that it was "not to be construed as an admission" by Weinstein but intended to "avoid litigation and buy peace."

In October of 2016, McGowan alluded to her abuse, tweeting, "Because my ex sold our movie to my rapist for distribution #WhyWomenDontReport." Although McGowan doesn't specifically reference Weinstein by name, her film Planet Terror was distributed by Weinstein in 2007. And at the time she made the movie, she was dating filmmaker Robert Rodriguez.

In a Twitter thread directed at Amazon and its CEO, Jeff Bezos, on Oct. 13, McGowan finally publicly named Weinstein as her rapist.

"I told the head of your studio that HW raped me. Over & over I said it. He said it hadn’t been proven. I said I was the proof," she wrote. "I had already sold a script I wrote to your studio, it was in development. When I heard a Weinstein bailout was in the works I forcefully begged studio head to do the right thing. I was ignored. Deal was done. Amazon won a dirty Oscar."

McGowan, who has for years been vocal about the problems in the industry, has become the voice of the Weinstein resistance since the Times piece went live. In addition to calling for the dissolution of The Weinstein Company's entire board for what she says is its complicity in covering up Weinstein's behavior, McGowan continues to bring to light her story as well as the stories of other women who were victimized by Weinstein.

Asia Argento

In an investigative piece by Ronan Farrow, the son of Mia Farrow and Woody Allen, Italian actor and director Asia Argento revealed that Weinstein forced oral sex on her. At the time, she was working on the film B. Monkey, which was released in 1999 in the U.S. by Miramax. She was 21 and a rising actor when she was invited to what she was led to believe was a Miramax party at Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc on the French Riviera. However, when she arrived, there was no party — just Weinstein. At one point, Weinstein left the room and returned in a bathrobe with a bottle of lotion, asking Argento for a massage. At first, she resisted, she said, but eventually reluctantly agreed. It was then that Weinstein allegedly pushed her skirt up, forced her legs apart and performed oral sex on her as she pleaded for him to stop.

On Twitter this week, Argento shared a clip of a film she directed in 1999 that mirrored her experience with Weinstein. Also supporting her story is Argento's boyfriend, Anthony Bourdain, who is currently dragging Weinstein and anyone complicit in Weinstein's history of harassment/assault.

Mira Sorvino

Mira Sorvino, who starred in multiple Weinstein films, told Farrow that she also found herself alone in a hotel room with Weinstein during her early career. The year was 1995 during the Toronto International Film Festival. They were there to promote the film Mighty Aphrodite when Weinstein invited Sorvino to his room, presumably to discuss the film. "He started massaging my shoulders, which made me very uncomfortable, and then tried to get more physical, sort of chasing me around," she said.

Sorvino managed to get out of the room that night, but weeks later, Weinstein called her back in NYC to request another meeting. After calling a friend to come over and pose as her boyfriend, Sorvino “freaked out” when Weinstein arrived at her apartment earlier than expected. “I opened the door terrified, brandishing my twenty-pound Chihuahua mix in front of me, as though that would do any good," she said. When she explained to Weinstein her boyfriend was on his way over, the film exec angrily left.

Emma de Caunes

French actor Emma de Caunes met Weinstein in 2010 at a party during Cannes Film Festival. Months later, he reached out to her about meeting in Paris under the guise of needing a strong female lead for a film he was producing. Weinstein claimed the movie was an adaptation of a book, but he couldn't remember the title. "But I'll give it to you. I have it in my room," he reportedly told de Caunes.

Once in the room, de Caunes took a phone call, at which point Weinstein disappeared into the bathroom. Moments later, he walked out naked and with an erection. He then allegedly told de Caunes to lie on the bed and told her that "many other women had done so before her." De Caunes told Farrow she was petrified but afraid to show it. "It was like a hunter with a wild animal. The fear turns him on." She immediately left.

Rosanna Arquette

Rosanna Arquette agreed to meet up with Weinstein in the early '90s to pick up a script for a new film. When Arquette arrived at the room, Weinstein allegedly answered the door in a white bathrobe. He said his neck was sore and asked for a massage. When Arquette told him she could refer a good masseuse, the movie mogul forced her hand onto his neck. When she jerked away, he then tried to place it on his penis, which was reportedly visible and erect. "My heart was really racing. I was in a fight-or-flight moment," she told Farrow for The New Yorker. After telling Weinstein she would never do that, the film exec told her she was making a huge mistake by rejecting him. And, says Arquette, "He made things very difficult for me for years."

Angelina Jolie

During the '90s when Angelina Jolie was working on the film Playing by Heart, she endured an encounter with Weinstein during which he allegedly made unwanted advances on her in a hotel room. "I had a bad experience with Harvey Weinstein in my youth, and as a result, chose to never work with him again and warn others when they did," she told the Times in an email. "This behavior toward women in any field, any country is unacceptable."

Ambra Battilana Gutierrez

One of the most recent victims to come forward, Ambra Battilana Gutierrez — a Miss Italy contestant finalist — met Weinstein in 2015 at the reception for a show he was producing at Radio City Music Hall. Gutierrez, 22, recalled to Farrow that Weinstein repeatedly remarked how much she looked like actor Mila Kunis. He soon after requested a meeting, to which Gutierrez brought her modeling portfolio under the assumption it would be a business meeting. But shortly into the meeting, Weinstein asked if Gutierrez's breasts were real before lunging at and groping them. He also tried to force his hand up her skirt, says Gutierrez. When she continued to protest, Weinstein backed off, gave her tickets to his Broadway production of Finding Neverland and told her he'd meet her there that night.

Instead, Gutierrez went to the NYPD and reported the assault. When she failed to appear at the show, an irate Weinstein called her. The police saw an opportunity, convincing Gutierrez to wear a wire and meet up with the movie mogul. The tapes, which have now been released, reveal a tense conversation during which Weinstein admits to groping the young model.

Jessica Barth

Actor Jessica Barth (Next, Ted, Ted 2) told Farrow she met Weinstein at a Golden Globes party in 2011. When the movie exec asked Barth to meet him at the Peninsula, she agreed. When she arrived, though, she was asked to come to his room. At the time, Weinstein assured her it was "no big deal" and that he just wanted privacy to "talk career stuff." In the room, Barth claims she discovered Weinstein with a bottle of Champagne and sushi. He then reportedly proceeded to alternate between offering her movie roles and sexually harassing her. "'So, what would happen if, say, we're having some champagne and I take my clothes off and you give me a massage?'" Barth recounted Weinstein asking. "And I'm like, 'That's not going to happen.'"

When Barth got up to leave, Weinstein reacted harshly, telling her out of spite that she need to lose weight to "compete with Mila Kunis." Barth told Farrow she burst into tears upon leaving, but that she did share the harrowing experience with two people — whom Farrow contacted and who corroborated Barth's account.

Gwyneth Paltrow

When Gwyneth Paltrow was 22, she was cast to play the lead in the movie adaptation of Jane Austen's Emma. Because the film was being produced by Weinstein, the young actor didn't find it out of the ordinary when he requested a meeting at the Peninsula Beverly Hills hotel. And while it began innocently enough, Paltrow told the Times it ended with Weinstein making unwanted sexual advances — including touching her and suggesting they give each other massages in the bedroom. "I was a kid, I was signed up, I was petrified," Paltrow revealed. Although she refused Weinstein's advances, she admitted, "I thought he was going to fire me."

Paltrow also divulged that she told her then-boyfriend, Brad Pitt, about the exchange. Pitt then reportedly confronted Weinstein at a movie premiere, telling him that he wouldn't do anything like that to Paltrow again... or else (else, in this case, was reportedly a "Missouri whooping"). A representative of Pitt's has since confirmed this narrative of events to the Times.

Romola Garai

British actor Romola Garai (Vanity Fair, Atonement, Suffragette) was only 18 when Weinstein called her in for an "audition" that ultimately proved to be much more sinister in nature. "Like every other woman in the industry, I've had an 'audition' with Harvey Weinstein, where I'd actually already had the audition but you had to be personally approved by him," she told The Guardian. "So I had to go to his hotel room in the Savoy, and he answered the door in his bathrobe. I was only 18. I felt violated by it, it has stayed very clearly in my memory."

Katherine Kendall

In 1993, when Swingers' Katherine Kendall was 23, Weinstein set up a meeting with the young actor through her agent. After sending her several scripts, he invited Kendall to a screening in a cinema near Lincoln Center in Manhattan. And after the screening, he said he needed to drop by his apartment to pick something up, Kendall told the Times. Once in the apartment, it wasn't long before Weinstein went into the bathroom and allegedly emerged wearing only a robe and asking for a massage. "'Everybody does it,'" Weinstein said, according to Kendall. Her refusal only seemed to excite Weinstein more, as he left the room and returned in the nude. "He literally chased me," she said. "He wouldn't let me pass him to get to the door."

Heather Graham

In an exclusive interview with Variety, Heather Graham recalled her own disturbing experience with Weinstein in the early 2000s. It started when Weinstein invited the star into his office to discuss a pile of potential scripts. While that seemed straightforward enough, Weinstein then pivoted the conversation problematically.

"Later in the conversation, he mentioned that he had an agreement with his wife. He could sleep with whomever he wanted when he was out of town," Graham told Variety. "I walked out of the meeting feeling uneasy. There was no explicit mention that to star in one of those films I had to sleep with him, but the subtext was there."

Cara Delevingne

In a lengthy Instagram post on Oct. 11, Delevingne detailed a pair of uncomfortable interactions she had had with Weinstein early in her career.

"When I first started to work as an actress, i was working on a film and I received a call from‎ Harvey Weinstein asking if I had slept with any of the women I was seen out with in the media. It was a very odd and uncomfortable call," she wrote. "I answered none of his questions and hurried off the phone but before I hung up, he said to me that If I was gay or decided to be with a woman especially in public that I'd never get the role of a straight woman or make it as an actress in Hollywood."

The second interaction Delevingne recounts is even more harrowing.

"A year or two later, I went to a meeting with him in the lobby of a hotel with a director about an upcoming film," she wrote. "The director left the meeting and Harvey asked me to stay and chat with him. As soon as we were alone he began to brag about all the actresses he had slept with and how he had made their careers and spoke about other inappropriate things of a sexual nature."

Delevingne continued, "He then invited me to his room. I quickly declined and asked his assistant if my car was outside. She said it wasn't and wouldn't be for a bit and I should go to his room. At that moment I felt very powerless and scared but didn't want to act that way hoping that I was wrong about the situation."

When Delevingne arrived in Weinstein's hotel room, she said another woman was there, and she immediately felt safer. But that didn't last.

"He asked us to kiss and she began some sort of advances upon his direction," she wrote. "I swiftly got up and asked him if he knew that I could sing. And I began to sing....I thought it would make the situation better....more professional....like an audition....I was so nervous. After singing I said again that I had to leave. He walked me to the door and stood in front of it and tried to kiss me on the lips. I stopped him and managed to get out of the room."

Delevingne said Weinstein still offered her a part in the movie he was casting, but that she always felt like he may have only given it to her because of that encounter in his hotel room.

"I was so hesitant about speaking out," she wrote. "I didn't want to hurt his family. I felt guilty as if I did something wrong. I was also terrified that this sort of thing had happened to so many women I know but no one had said anything because of fear."

Léa Seydoux

Léa Seydoux — known for her roles in Blue Is the Warmest Color and Spectre — come forward claiming Harvey Weinstein sexually attacked her.

In an op-ed for the Guardian, Seydoux (who worked with Weinstein on Inglourious Basterds) said she met Weinstein and his female assistant in the lobby of a hotel. "All throughout the evening, he flirted and stared at me as if I was a piece of meat," she explained. "He acted as if he were considering me for a role. But I knew that was bullshit. I knew it because I could see it in his eyes. He had a lecherous look. He was using his power to get sex."

But things escalated when his assistant left. "We were talking on the sofa when he suddenly jumped on me and tried to kiss me. I had to defend myself," she said. "He’s big and fat, so I had to be forceful to resist him. I left his room, thoroughly disgusted. I wasn’t afraid of him, though. Because I knew what kind of man he was all along."

Kate Beckinsale

The Underworld star came forward on Thursday with her own personal account of what she says happened between her and Weinstein when she was just 17 years old — which would make Beckinsale one of Weinstein's youngest alleged victims to come forward. In an extensive Instagram caption, with a picture presumably taken around the time this alleged incident occurred, Beckinsale bravely detailed her side of the story.

"I was called to meet Harvey Weinstein at the Savoy Hotel when I was 17. I assumed it would be in a conference room which was very common. When I arrived, reception told me to go to his room. He opened the door in his bathrobe. I was incredibly naive and young and it did not cross my mind that this older, unattractive man would expect me to have any sexual interest in him. After declining alcohol and announcing that I had school in the morning I left, uneasy but unscathed. A few years later he asked me if he had tried anything with me in that first meeting. I realized he couldn't remember if he had assaulted me or not. I had what I thought were boundaries - I said no to him professionally many times over the years some of which ended up with him screaming at me calling me a cunt and making threats, some of which made him laughingly tell people oh 'Kate lives to say no to me.' It speaks to the status quo in this business that I was aware that standing up for myself and saying no to things, while it did allow me to feel uncompromised in myself, undoubtedly harmed my career and was never something I felt supported by anyone other than my family. I would like to applaud the women who have come forward, and to pledge that we can from this create a new paradigm where producers, managers, executives and assistants and everyone who has in the past shrugged and said 'well, that's just Harvey /Mr. X/insert name here' will realize that we in numbers can affect real change. For every moment like this, there have been thousands where a vulnerable person has confided outrageous unprofessional behavior and found they have no recourse, due to an atmosphere of fear that it seems almost everyone has been living in. I had a male friend who, based on my experience, warned a young actress who said she was going to dinner with Harvey to be careful. He received a phone call the next day saying he would never work in anothermax film; the girl was already sleeping with Harvey and had told him that my friend had warned her off. Let's stop allowing our young women to be sexual cannon fodder, and let's remember that Harvey is an emblem of a system that is sick and that we have work to do."

Claire Forlani

Yet another woman has accused Harvey Weinstein of attempted sexual assault. This time, Claire Forlani, star of Mallrats and Meet Joe Black, tweeted accounts of escaping from Weinstein multiple times as a young actor.

"You see, nothing happened to me with Harvey — by that I mean, I escaped 5 times," she wrote. "I had two Peninsula Hotel meetings in the evening with Harvey and all I remember was I ducked, dived and ultimately got out of there without getting slobbered over, well just a bit. Yes, massage was suggested. The three dinners with Harvey I don’t really remember the time period, I was 25. I remember him telling me all the actresses who had slept with him and what he had done for them. I wasn’t drinking the cool aid [sic], I knew Harvey was a master manipulator."

She also wrote about her reluctance to speak out even though she was "in awe" of women who did because she knew those who sought justice would be ostracized.

"For us it was something you weren't supposed to make a big deal out of; it was sadly our normal," she wrote.

Now, she's hopeful that the days of Hollywood being overrun with sexism and harassment could be coming to an end.

"I feel excited, I really do, that this could be a thing of the past, that these men will now not feel they have carte blanche to intimidate, sexualize, bully and ultimately hurt women or girls," she wrote. "I'm not naïve enough to believe it can be eradicated but it can be a different time and that after all this pain, suffering and fear, it can be a new time in this business. I am proud of my community. I love what I do. There are so many beautiful people in this business. So may the bad seeds please leave the stage?"

Minka Kelly

Actress Minka Kelly, best known for her roles in Friday Night Lights and Weinstein Co.'s film The Butler, posted a lengthy Instagram post about a time Harvey Weinstein propositioned her.

As detailed in the post, Kelly explains that she met Weinstein at an industry party; the next day, her agent informed her that he wanted to set up a general interview in his hotel room. Feeling uncomfortable with that, she agreed to meet Weinstein and his assistant at a hotel restaurant instead. Upon arriving, Weinstein showered her with potential movie roles and then, as many other of his accusers have said, dismissed his assistant. That's when Weinstein allegedly promised Kelly a "lavish lifestyle" with strings attached.

"He said, 'I know you were feeling what I was feeling when we met the other night,' and then regaled me with offers of a lavish life filled with trips around the world on private planes etc. IF I would be his girlfriend," Kelly wrote. "Or, 'We could just keep this professional.'"

Kelly "gracefully" shut him down, telling him she was flattered, and they decided to keep their relationship professional. Weinstein asked her not to tell anyone about their exchange but she immediately called her agent and told her everything. They shared a laugh at his audacity, but now Kelly's apologizing for not doing more.

"I'm sorry for obliging his orders to be complicit in protecting his behavior, which he obviously knew was wrong or he wouldn’t have asked me not to tell anyone in the first place. For making him feel ok about the gross things he was saying and that I felt my only route was to say I was flattered. For not insisting that my reps never allow anyone to take a meeting in a hotel room (with him or anyone else), because I honestly don’t know what might have happened if I’d just showed up as originally scheduled."

Eva Green

After her mother revealed her to be one of Weinstein's victim's, Green released a statement detailing a time Weinstein made an aggressive advance and she was forced to "push him off."

"I met him for a business meeting in Paris at which he behaved inappropriately and I had to push him off. I got away without it going further, but the experience left me shocked and disgusted," she wrote. "I have not discussed this before because I wanted to maintain my privacy, but I understand it is important to do so as I hear about other women’s experiences. Women are often condemned when they speak out and their personal reputations tarnished by association."

Green continued, "I salute the great bravery of the women who have come forward. We should recognise that this sort of behaviour exists everywhere and is not unique to the entertainment industry. The exploitation of power is ubiquitous. This behaviour is unacceptable and needs to be eliminated."

Angie Everhart

In a live video interview with TMZ, Everhart told about a time Weinstein trapped her in a room and masturbated in front of her. Unlike so many women, Everhart did not keep quiet, but when she told others about what had happened, she said most of them replied, "Oh, that's just Harvey."

TMZ reporters asked, "So they literally passed it off as 'We know he does that'?"

Everhart just said, "Yeah."

She also spoke about how Weinstein's predatory behavior has been by no means a secret. "People have known this about Harvey for more than a decade... There isn't a single person who is anybody in this business that doesn't know that Harvey Weinstein has been like that. If they know Harvey, they know he's been like that," she said. But, she added, women don't come forward with their personal stories for fear of hurting their careers. "It's a very scary thing in Hollywood to come out and talk like this about somebody who is so powerful as Harvey Weinstein. He got stories crushed, and he can crush you. Even when I said it that night, nobody cared."

Lena Headey

In a series of gut-wrenching tweets posted on Tuesday, Oct. 17, Game of Thrones actor Lena Headey described the two very horrible encounters she had with Weinstein. In the first encounter (edited according to Entertainment Weekly’s report for clarity and brevity), she states: "The first time I met Harvey Weinstein was at The Venice Film Festival. The Brothers Grimm was showing there, (during shooting I was subjected to endless bullying by the director Terry Gilliam). At one point Harvey asked me to take a walk down to the water, I walked down with him and he stopped and made some suggestive comment, a gesture, I just laughed it off, I was genuinely shocked. I remember thinking, ‘It’s got to be a joke.’ I said something like, ‘Oh come on mate?! It’d be like kissing my dad! Let’s go get a drink, get back to the others.’ I was never in any other Miramax film.”

She continued, detailing the second encounter with him.

Who's got time for gender stereotypes? Not our mom crush Pink. We swooned when the singer, her husband Carey Hart and their daughter, Willow Sage, all rocked sharp matching black suits at the VMAs in late August. And today, we're grooving on Pink's recent Instagram post of son Jameson Moon — sporting his big sister's pink sun hat, chilling on a pink blanket.

And for the record, daughter Willow is totally down with blue plaid in this September Instagram post from Pink.

Yeah, we know what you're wondering. Did the mommy-shamers come out to play? Surprisingly — in a good way — commenters seemed to love Pink's pink pic. Well, except for one jokester:

"Terrible product placement, everything is pink. Poor boy :D"

But most fans loved the pink picnic:

"Love the P!nk, also how the Willow tree is in the background!"

"It's the handsome lil meatball!!! He doesn't have to worry about the pink hat, sister wouldn't let anyone pick on him!"

"Real men wear what ever they want."

So refreshing to see messages of support and acceptance rather than judgment. Maybe mom-shamers are finally figuring out that messing with Pink is never going to end well. Have you seen those biceps... or that documentary? Long live Queen Pink and her laid-back approach to dressing her kids — and herself.

Can We Please Just Say 'Vagina' Instead of These 50 Other Slang Words?

$

Say it with us now: "Penis, penis, penis. Vagina, vagina, vagina." We'd bet the farm that it was way easier for you to blurt out the correct term for male anatomy than it was to say vagina. Why the hell is that? When it comes to our own human body parts, for some reason it feels weird just uttering the syllables. Even more infuriating is the fact that modern society is totally cool with throwing around slang terms for vagina that are infinitely creepier and way more offensive than the medical term.

Need proof? We rounded up every single word for the female anatomy we could think of. From the tame to the say-whaaat? to the just plain juvenile, there's apparently nothing we won't do to avoid saying vagina.

How to Make the Best Chili — Because It's That Time of Year

$
0
0

It's fall, y'all, and you know what that means! Let the chili bonanza begin. One of the worst things about summer is that you look like a total weirdo eating a nice healthy helping of chili; however, cool weather definitely calls for cozying up with a hot bowl.

But the problem with conjuring up the best chili ever is the fact that what makes a chili truly great is so subjective.

Take beans, for example. Chili is commonly made with a variety of beans, yet many chili competitions forbid them, and putting them in chili may even get you into legal trouble in Texas. Heck, even using tomatoes can start an argument. Worse, there isn't even one right way to serve chili once it's cooked — by itself in a bowl, with cornbread, on a baked potato, over Fritos, with tortilla chips… or in some backward cities, over spaghetti (really, Cincinnati?). President Obama likes it over rice (his status as the former leader of the free world doesn't make that less weird, but I did try it, and it doesn't suck).

More: Cincinnati Chili With Spaghetti Squash — Comfort Food the Gluten-Free Way

But no matter how you make or serve your chili, there are some time-honored techniques and tips to help you make your favorite chili recipe the best.

1. Beans

If you're planning to use beans, you'll get the best results cooking dried beans (soaked overnight) in salted water for about two hours — the salted water will actually help keep the bean skins smooth and intact. Chili cooks for a long time, and canned beans will turn to mush. They also have a high sodium content. If you don't have any option but to use canned, rinse them well first, and add them during the last hour or so of cooking.

2. Tomatoes

Fresh tomatoes are a great option, but most chili recipes tend to call for canned diced or crushed tomatoes. If you use a quality brand of canned tomato like Muir Glen or San Marzano, you can skip all the extra work of blanching and peeling fresh tomatoes without sacrificing too much flavor. Acidic foods like tomatoes can hinder the natural tenderization of meat during the cooking process, so you may want to add in those tomatoes toward the end of your simmer time.

3. Meat

It has been said that ground beef is for tacos and sloppy Joes, not chili, and there seems to be some truth behind that snark. Browning the meat is a critical step that adds a tremendous amount of flavor to the chili, and ground beef simply cannot brown properly while it cooks in its own fat and juices. A better option is to use a nice marbled cut of flavorful beef that isn't too tender (so it doesn't break down too much or disappear altogether while cooking).

Whichever cut of steak you choose (short rib or a round trimmed and cut into 1/4-inch pieces is a good choice), thoroughly dry it with a paper towel to promote more even searing. Don't bother letting your meat rest, regardless of what your recipe says. That's an old wives' tale. The enemy of even browning is moisture, not cold (thus the reason you use liquid to deglaze).

Season and cook the meat on high heat with a tablespoon or so of oil for about five minutes, until the meat can be moved around the pan easily. If possible, sear your steak in the same dish you plan to cook your chili, but drain or skim off as much fat as you can. (Or remove the meat temporarily, and use the fat to soften the veggies).

4. Fresh vegetables

Sauté finely chopped onions, garlic or any other vegetable before any liquid is added to draw out as much flavor as possible. Onions, chili peppers and garlic are common ingredients, but don't be afraid to experiment with sweet bell peppers, corn, hominy, celery or even cactus.

5. Spices

Premixed chili packets and canned spices in general are inferior to the bold and complex (and totally customizable) flavor you can get from fresh whole spices. Replacing your stock chili powder with a balanced mix of dried chilies made into a puree (more on that later) and toasted, freshly ground whole spices will have a huge impact on your chili, so stock up on cumin seed and coriander. Also, season your chili in stages, robust spices first so they can build a nice, deep flavor and delicate spices last. Don't skip over more uncommon spice choices like Mexican oregano, cinnamon, star anise and clove, which, when used correctly, can really enhance meat flavors and balance some of the spices.

6. Chilies

Throwing a spice packet into a slow cooker is fine for a quick meal, but perfect chili needs the complexity and richness you can only get from toasting a custom mix of dried peppers. Chilies can be fruity, smoky, fresh or sweet, all with varying levels of heat. Mastering their personalities is what makes chili more art than science. Toast the dried peppers over high heat, cook them down in water or stock, and puree it for your chili. You won't go back to powder again.

7. Stock

Before you start measuring out store-bought beef stock, go homemade. A stock made with marrow bones is far, far better than a couple of teaspoons of powder or sodium-packed canned stuff.

8. Low and slow

You can't rush the perfect chili. Using a heavy-duty pot or Dutch oven will maintain an even heat while cooking, which is important when you're cooking low and slow. Bring your chili to a boil, and simmer for at least two hours. Going back and forth between covered and uncovered cooking will keep the chili from becoming too watery or too thick, and a wooden spatula (instead of a spoon) will make better contact with the bottom of the pot when stirring.

9. Coffee and chocolate

Ingredients you might not expect in chili can elevate your dish from everyday to outstanding with minimal effort. Add a bit of Mexican chocolate, unsweetened chocolate or cocoa powder to enhance subtle flavors and add instant depth and complexity. Brewed coffee and espresso powder can also be used to take your chili in new directions.

10. Thickeners

Some cooks use cornmeal to thicken their chili, but that can be really gritty. Flour can ruin the entire pot. Others use tortillas or tortilla chips like you would in tortilla soup. A cornstarch slurry will always work without affecting the flavor, but lightly mashing the beans and vegetables with a potato masher to release their natural starches may be the best method of all.

11. Umami

For extra punch, try some ingredients known to tantalize that elusive fifth taste. Some of these may sound strange in chili, but they work really well when used correctly. Try fish sauce, soy sauce, anchovies or yeast extracts like Vegemite or Marmite.

12. Secret ingredients

Almost every serious chili cook has a secret ingredient they think makes their chili the best. They run the gamut from clever to weird. Experiment (at your own risk) with beer, Sriracha sauce, pickle juice, jalapeño brine, chorizo sausage, red wine, vinegar, nutmeg, carrot puree, butternut squash and peanut butter.

13. Toppings

Originally eaten with camp bread, chili is now commonly eaten with cornbread or saltine or oyster crackers on the side. Additionally, toppers like shredded cheese, sour cream, fresh cilantro and chopped onions (including green onions) are popular, so make sure they're available for guests who might be expecting them for their perfect bowl.

Green beans and Brussels sprouts always seem to be getting all the love when it comes to holiday side dishes — but we're here to state the case that asparagus has been seriously overlooked when it comes to Thanksgiving and any other winter feast.

Seriously, though, try crispy asparagus fries, gooey prosciutto-wrapped asparagus stuffed with blue cheese, colorful balsamic asparagus and strawberries or flaky asparagus pizza pockets at your table this year. Any of these delicious dishes work just as well as an easy appetizer too. The best part? Each recipe is ready in under 30 minutes.

  4. Place the asparagus on a foil-lined baking sheet, and drizzle with olive oil.
  5. Bake for about 10 minutes, until tender but still crisp.

When you're the queen of England, having a steady income is probably not something you really need to be stressin' about. When you're Queen Elizabeth II, it's something you really don't need to be stressin' about.

Queen Elizabeth, who has owned horses since she got her first Shetland pony at age 4, has built up quite an impressive stable of racing thoroughbreds. And throughout her life, the queen has won nearly $9 million in race purses because of those thoroughbreds.

According to CNN, Elizabeth's horses have won 451 races since 1988, when records became available. That's out of 2,815 starts, giving her a win rate of just under 16 percent. In both 1954 and 1957, she was named Britain's flat racing Championship Owner. Those accomplishments and the amount of money she's won make the queen the 11th-most successful racehorse owner in horse racing history, but the last two years have been particularly successful for her. Last year, her horses brought in $731,413, and so far this year, they've won 20 races amounting to $542,531 in winnings so far.

The royal family has a long history of raising and riding horses. Elizabeth is an accomplished rider who inherited her first racehorses from her father, King George VI, in 1952.

This news really shouldn't be surprising considering how much of Elizabeth's life has revolved around horses. Throughout her reign as queen, she's attended many royal ceremonies on horseback, and in numerous interviews, she's spoken about her love for horses and the sports surrounding them.

Starbucks Has New Dairy-Free Bottled Frappuccinos, & We're Obsessed

It's happened to all of us. You're on a road trip or at a gas station craving coffee, but there's not a Starbucks in sight. That's when you head to the refrigerator case, where they hopefully have something caffeinated. But until now, most Starbucks bottled drinks have been made with dairy, leaving them off-limits for vegans and other people who can't or won't drink cow's milk.

More: Starbucks Just Released a Vampire Frappuccino

Well, those days are (thankfully) at an end. Starbucks just announced in a press release that starting in 2018, they'll have a selection of bottled ready-to-drink beverages containing almond milk available for purchase, and they honestly all sound delicious.

First up, there's the Bottled Frappuccino Chilled Coffee Drink with Almondmilk — basically, a nondairy version of their classic bottled Frappuccino that will come in mocha and vanilla. As a bonus, it also has 35 percent fewer calories than the usual version.

More: Did We Just Get a Preview of Starbucks' Holiday Cups?

Then, there's the creamy coffee smoothies. Starbucks Doubleshot Coffee Smoothies made with Real Fruit and Almondmilk will come in two flavors, dark chocolate-banana and vanilla-honey-banana. They're a great on-the-go meal on those mornings when you need coffee and breakfast in a flash. The Frappuccinos and the Doubleshot Coffee Smoothies will be available in May of 2018.

Starbucks is also releasing two new flavors of single-serve cold brew, vanilla and fig and unsweetened black coffee, which will be available starting in February of 2018.

There's a bit of a wait before we're able to get our hands on these new drinks, but in the meantime, we can at least be thankful that at Starbucks stores, we now have a choice between almond, soy or coconut milk. The dietary tide is turning, and the road to glory is apparently flooded with delicious nondairy milk.

Yes, You Should Still Get the Flu Vaccine if You're Pregnant

$

Hear that report suggesting that the flu shot is linked to miscarriages? Before you skip your shot, listen to what experts have to say about why you should still get vaccinated.

“With flu season in full swing, September is possibly the worst time to release a confusing study about the safety of flu shots for pregnant women. But that’s what happened, and now doctors across the country are running defense to protect pregnant women and their babies from the flu,” Dr. Robyn Horsager-Boehrer, an OB-GYN and maternal-fetal medicine specialist, wrote in a statement online. The original study was published in Vaccine.

“The most important thing I want women to understand is this: This study does not say that you are at increased risk for miscarriage if you are in the first trimester, have a healthy pregnancy, and get a flu shot,” Horsager-Boehrer wrote.

Nanette Santoro, a professor at the University of Colorado, also thinks women should get the shot.

“Based on the data and the slight change in how miscarriages were recorded in this study as compared to prior studies, we can’t be sure the findings are ‘real’ and can’t think of a biological reason why the flu shot should cause miscarriages,” she said. “The message we don’t want to communicate is that women should not get a flu shot when pregnant. Influenza can be life-threatening for pregnant women, especially when they are in their third trimester. So for women who have any respiratory or immune compromise, they should not change their approach to immunization at all!”

More: When Is the Best Time to Get Your Flu Shot?

In the study, researchers looked at 485 pregnant women, ages 18 to 44, who had a miscarriage and compared them to 485 pregnant women of similar ages who had normal deliveries during the 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 flu seasons. Of those who lost their babies, 17 had received flu vaccine in the 28 days before the miscarriage, and had also received the vaccine during the prior flu season. In those with normal deliveries, just four had the vaccine.

“The study did not specify when the women who got flu shots were vaccinated, but it stated that many received a flu shot within 28 days of the miscarriage and also received a flu shot during the previous year’s flu season,” she added.

“We only saw the link between vaccination and miscarriage if they had been vaccinated in the season before,” said James Donahue, an epidemiologist and lead author, told the Washington Post.

“Scientifically, it is unclear why this would occur. There was no association seen with a pregnancy loss more than 28 days after vaccination,” Dr. Haywood L. Brown, president of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, said in a statement. When the vaccination was given either later in the first trimester or in the second or third trimester, there was no link to miscarriage or any other adverse pregnancy outcomes, he noted.

Verdict: Get vaccinated

Women should still receive the vaccine — and it’s “particularly important” during pregnancy, Brown added. He noted that the vaccine is the most effective strategy to protect newborns because it cannot be administered to infants younger than six months.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and its Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices said it has not changed the recommendation for influenza vaccination of pregnant women.

In a statement, the CDC said the study does not prove flu shots can cause miscarriage. They noted that earlier studies did not find a link between flu vaccination and miscarriage.

“There is an ongoing investigation to study this issue further among women who were pregnant and eligible to receive flu vaccine during the 2012-13 through 2014-15 flu seasons. Results are anticipated in late 2018 or 2019,” the CDC said.

Hype or health hazard?

The authors say women should still get vaccinated, but explained to other outlets they had to report on the facts despite the outrage over the study.

“I appreciate that researchers continue to question what is and isn’t safe for pregnant women and their babies. However, as medical professionals, we have to be careful about what we say and how we say it,” Horsager-Boehrer added. “This inconclusive study is a prime example of how associative data, particularly when it is distributed without proper context, can do more harm than good for public health.”

Dr. Serena Chen, a fertility specialist from New Jersey, noted that the study is the only one that has shown the association — and only for two particular years.

“Physiologically, it does not really make sense why there would be an association between the flu shot and miscarriage,” Chen said. “We still have a lot of data demonstrating that the flu can be deadly to pregnant women, so the benefits of the flu shot still clearly outweigh the risks for most women.”

More: No, pregnant women getting the flu shot doesn't cause autism

Dr. Carolyn Thompson, a Nashville-based OB-GYN, thinks the advantages of getting the shot far outweigh the disadvantages, particularly since there seems to be healthy skepticism about the study.

“I am particularly skeptical about the perceived connection between serial flu shots and risk of miscarriage,” she said, noting that discussing the topic is appropriate.

She still recommends getting pricked.

“All this being said, I still am a strong proponent of flu shots for pregnant women,” Thompson added.

Insiders Close to Khloé Kardashian Reveal the Sex of Her First Baby

Updated Oct. 25, 2017, 12:30 p.m. PT: Khloé Kardashian is still keeping her pregnancy under wraps (and you know it's because Kris Jenner is planning some over-the-top, money-making baby announcement), but if she won't speak, anonymous sources close to the reality star will.

According to multiple sources who spoke to Us Weekly, Kardashian is reportedly expecting a baby boy with boyfriend, Tristan Thompson. The magazine reported that the youngest Kardashian sister is "hungrier than ever, " but sticking to her diet, with smaller meals throughout the day, while eating for two.

While Kardashian's revenge body transforms into a healthy pregnant body, one important question still remains — will she keep with the family trend and give her baby a K name?

Ugh, come on, Khloé. All this suspense is killing us!

Original article:

You guys, what?! Khloé Kardashian is pregnant. Kylie Jenner is pregnant. Kim Kardashian West is kind of pregnant. At least, she's expecting via surrogate. What even is in the water in Kardashian-land? This is an actual level-five "we can't" situation, and we're having trouble collecting ourselves and moving on with our lives.

And the thing is, we all missed the biggest clue ever that Kardashian was pregnant — back in June. That silence you just heard is the sound of us hanging our heads in shame. Why on Earth didn't we figure it out? Kardashian posted a flurry of Polaroid photos on her Instagram story feed in June, celebrating her birthday with her fella, NBA star Tristan Thompson. The photos were cute and mushy and whatever — and since they were so run-of-the-Kardashian-mill, we totally missed a very peculiar caption: "Dad + Mom."

More: Now Khloe Kardashian Is Pregnant Too?

Khloe Kardashian Instagram pregnancy announcement
Image: Khloé Kardashian/Instagram

To be fair, we heard rumors that "Dad" and "Mom" are just weird nicknames the couple likes to use. And Kardashian did inquire with her Twitter followers about a cure for her hangover after the party — but that could have been a ruse. It's all very confusing. So maybe we can be forgiven for not having already used our Nancy Drew sleuth powers to figure this one out.

In April, Kardashian talked to ES Magazine about getting hitched to Thompson. She was enthusiastic about the idea, saying, "I would love to have a family. We’ve talked about it. He [already] is a father, and I know for a fact that he would be an impeccable father.”

She continued to ES, “I definitely want to be a mom. But I don’t put the pressure on it. It’s not like, ‘The clock is ticking.’ I feel in my soul it will happen.” Well, it happened.

Well, at least it seems like it did. Kardashian posted a very toned belly shot to Instagram just four days ago, and commenters are losing their minds in confusion. One wrote, "She's not pregnant she wouldn't ruin that body she worked too hard." We're pretty sure nothing can "ruin" hard work, for the record.

Khloe belly

Khloe belly

We've got to hand it to all the Kardashian "sources" who have been working overtime leaking info to the media. Kardashian's big news came by way of People, which reported a source had this to say: "Khloé and Tristan are expecting and they are absolutely thrilled. This isn’t something they were in a rush to announce to the whole world, and it’s only been in just the past week or so that they’ve felt comfortable telling most of their inner circle."

We are now all officially part of the inner circle, we're assuming, and expect invites to the trio of christenings. Now, if you've lost track of all the contoured Kardashian-Jenner sisters and their offspring, this is Kardashian's first child. Thompson, on the other hand, knows his way around a burp cloth. He has a son, Prince Oliver, with his ex Jordan Craig. Prince Oliver was born in December 2016, so that means Thompson will be one busy daddy with an infant and a toddler on his hands.

Are you still squinting at the screen trying to keep count so you can explain this hotbed of family fertility to your mother? Us too. On Friday, People dropped the bombshell that — according to those sources again — Kylie Jenner has a baby girl on the way with beau Travis Scott. Yes, another dude with a T name, because the Kardashians (and Kanye West) took all the K's. Jenner's debut baby is set to drop in February. And if you're marking your calendar, Kardashian and Jenner are reportedly due around the same time. "Shut up," you say. "Why, it's almost like they planned this baby coup for ratings," you say.

“Kylie is over the moon about her pregnancy. Khloé and Kylie are both due around the same time. They are approximately four months along... Kylie loves how close-knit her family is and is thrilled to bring that to her own family. She feels more prepared than ever, especially since she will be sharing this journey with Khloé,” said an insider to People. “They are looking at it like a unifying experience for them as sisters.”

Why the Kardashian-Thompson announcement on the heels of Jenner's? Another source told People, "Things were complicated a bit by Kylie’s announcement as they don’t want to be seen as intruding on that moment for her but it is now reaching a point where Khloé doesn’t want to be openly lying to people, and just staying quiet isn’t going to work anymore.”

And don't forget poor Kardashian West and Kanye West. They are waiting impatiently for their third child, a girl, who is supposedly arriving in January 2018 via a surrogate.

So there you have it. We may have three new heirs to the Kardashian empire in the span of a month at the top of 2018. It's either the craziest reality TV coincidence ever or the work of some mad (and very fertile) geniuses.

"A lot of you that watch the show know he has dyslexia, so school has always been a very big challenge for us in our household," Ripa said. Then, she went on to explain how she "broke down crying" at a recent parent-teacher conference when she learned 14-year-old Joaquin is currently getting straight A's in school.

"He was laughing so hard at me crying because I think it made him so uncomfortable," Ripa continued. "I said, ‘I’m so proud of you.’"

How Bad Is TV Before Age 2?

$

You probably already know that TV isn’t considered to be "healthy" for your child's mind. Especially not compared to, you know, reading books to them. But unless you live a pretty isolated, tech-free life (in which case, good for you!) your kids will likely be exposed to TV at some point. But is it really OK for very young kids — or even babies under age 2 — to watch TV?

The American Academy of Pediatrics used to recommend parents keep children under the age of 2 away from all screens (yes, that includes smartphones, TVs, tablets and computers) at all times. But in 2016, they tweaked those guidelines. Now, the AAP says children under the age of 18 months should avoid all screens — with one exception: live video chats. As for kids who are 18 to 24 months, the organization says a little bit of TV is OK — as long as it's “high quality programming.” Plus, the real caveat: Parents should watch along with their children so they can talk about the TV programming and help kids understand what they’re seeing, the AAP said in a press release.

So some TV before age 2 is actually OK? Ultimately, it depends on your child’s specific age as well as how you’re using it, says Dr. Danelle Fisher, chair of pediatrics at Providence Saint John’s Health Center in Santa Monica, California. “The images move very quickly on a screen — a lot more quickly than the brain is used to processing at a young age,” Fisher explains, adding that data suggest children under 2 learn more from stationary objects — such as playing with toys and looking at books. “All of those images are not assaulting their brain in the way that looking at a screen can do,” she says.

But completely banning screens all the time is “unrealistic… screens are everywhere,” says Dr. Gene Beresin, director The Clay Center for Young Healthy Minds at Massachusetts General Hospital and a professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School.

That said, it’s really important parents don’t let their young child sit in front of the TV alone. “Historically, where the AAP was coming from was that unfortunately, screens can be used as babysitters, particularly for toddlers,” says Beresin. “While it may be convenient and give a parent a break, it basically flies in the face of what we know about child development — that parents and children need to have a secure attachment with each other.”

More: Does Your Kid Need Glasses?

Instead, Beresin recommends parents watch TV with their children and gauge their reactions. Some kids may get overstimulated, aggressive or anxious, and it’s important for parents to be there to know when their child isn’t responding well to what they’re seeing. Parents should also engage with their child when they’re watching TV together, pointing out colors and objects they see. “Making it an engaging, interactive experience is really incredibly valuable, and that’s a positive use of the screen rather than leaving the child in front of the screen,” Beresin says.

It’s also important to make sure your child is watching something appropriate. News can have disturbing images, which is why Fisher recommends parents leave the news off when their young children are around. Time is important as well; Fisher recommends no more than 30 minutes of screen-time. “That’s a decently long period of time for a less-than-2-year-old because their attention span is so short.”

More: Why I'm Revoking My Toddler's TV Privileges

But the experts agree: If you can, it's really best to keep your young children away from the TV. It's not a huge deal if they happen to catch a few minutes of what their older sibling is watching here and there, Fisher explains, but ideally, their exposure is limited.

Ultimately, just be aware and do your best — and when you're with your toddler, screen or no screen, be present. “Try to be conscientious of it and follow TV up with some non-screen-time,” Fisher suggests. Might we suggest some favorite books for reading with toddlers?

Talking about the romantic Disneyland proposal he planned, Stamos admitted, "I was sort of done with Disney. I was like, 'I’ll wait until I have some kids...'"

That prompted reporters to ask him to clarify whether he was saying he and McHugh are planning to have kids, to which he replied, "Yeah, that’s certainly the plan."

He continued, "It’s been a long time and I’ve always been pretty vocal about wanting a family and wanting to be married, and everyone is like, 'Why can’t you? You can do it.' The truth is I just wasn’t the best me and I wasn’t going to attract someone like Caitlin. I had to work on myself and put in some time, and I know my mother would have been really happy with that, and this beauty just came into my life. But it took time for me to really be the best person I could be."

"I waited a really long time and she is perfect," Stamos gushed about his bride-to-be. "I mean, I don’t deserve her, by any means."

How to Spot the Subtle Signs of Bullying

$

Even with your thoughtful guidance and superhuman parental-reflex skills, there is sadly no way to pack yourself into a child’s backpack to get a front-desk seat in their school experience. In addition to fretting about their reading comprehension and how they're adjusting to a new school year, you might also worry about whether your child is socializing effectively — whether they're building friendships that could last beyond high school graduation.

And then there are the more troublesome social worries: Could your kid be a victim of bullying? Or worse, could they have become the bully themselves?

It’s estimated that 49 percent of children in grades 4 through 12 have been bullied in the past month, while nearly 31 percent confessed to tormenting others in that time. Though you of course want to prevent either from happening to your kid, psychologist Dr. Lindsey Henderson explains the indicators of bullying are often so subtle, you might miss them. Plus, it's likely a child will stay mum about what exactly goes on between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m.

In honor of National Bullying Prevention Month, we spoke with Henderson and other experts for a look at the indicators of bullying you might not know about. All the experts agreed: Parents and caregivers should be aware of these actions (or nonactions) so they can spot a red flag — and help a child heal.

More: How to Deal With Aggression in Kids

Expressing shame or guilt

If your once-cheery, even-keeled kiddo who used to skip through the streets and laugh without inhibition is now dropping a lot of self-deprecating comments, clinical psychologist and parenting expert Dr. Stephanie O’Leary says you may have reason to worry. If your child becomes anxious or nervous around friends and family and puts him- or herself down when the spotlight is on them, it could be an indicator they are experiencing the shame and guilt of bullying.

Or a child could be wary of any attention, neatly tucking him- or herself away because they don't feel worthy. “If you see a child becoming excessively shameful or expressing guilt that does not fit the situation, step back and validate your child's feelings. Then listen without trying to redirect or teach a lesson,” O’Leary suggests. “Ask directly if anyone is making your child feel bad, and keep your ears open well after the conversation has ended — kids sometimes circle back to share hours or even days after you've provided an opening.”

Thriving on drama

Chaos and children often go hand-in-hand, especially as they surf through the tides of preadolescence and adolescence. Though a little tiff with best pals is common, normal and even healthy, if you notice your child is always at the forefront of gossip, they may be taking a ring-leading role that comes with a side of bullying.

“When a child engages in bullying behavior, peers may respond in a number of ways, ranging from withdrawing to retaliating and everything in between. If he or she is frequently blamed by others, accused of doing or saying things that are mean or uncalled for or at the center of a revolving door of friends and acquaintances, it may be time to look at what he or she is doing to contribute to the drama,” O’Leary says.

She says you might even recognize this over-the-top behavior at home; perhaps your kid is consistently setting up others — including their siblings or even you and your partner — to fail. “Often, parents assume that negative behaviors are limited to the confines of the home or family, but addressing the issue is critical in order to help your child increase awareness and make wiser choices moving forward,” O'Leary explains — especially since those behaviors are likely more far-reaching than you think. Though you might be quick to punish, yell or correct your kid, O'Leary says taking time to talk with them about how their actions affect others is the key to creating lasting change.

More: Why You Shouldn't Baby the Baby of the Family

Acting suddenly sensitive

Similar to the above, if a kid who was once fast to release any temper tantrum or overcome any hostility now seems like they're constantly on the edge of a breakdown, they could be responding to a new level of stress. Unsurprisingly, bullying causes self-esteem to drop, especially if the child is teased on an ongoing basis. “When kids are in this position and do not feel supported," O'Leary explains, "it takes a toll emotionally, and this may manifest as increased sensitivity or emotionality. You may see overreactions and dramatic statements that do not fit the context of your child's immediate situation."

After validating the child’s feelings, O’Leary suggests talking it out without letting your own fears about your child's happiness seep into the conversation. “Listen to what he or she has to say, even if you can't make sense of it in the moment. It could be that you are observing your child vent pent-up frustration, hurt and anger over bullying that you are not aware of — and that he or she is struggling to cope with,” she adds.

Not demonstrating empathy

Consider the last time you were in a place where your child wasn’t familiar with the culture or with all the people. This could be while traveling or even just walking through a shopping center. Were they open to learning about a different community? Or were they quick to share harsh comments and judge those who may look or act differently than they do? Unfortunately, the latter sentiment doesn't require a passport, Henderson says. “Some children show a lack of ability or willingness to accept those who are different and make efforts to control these differences by engaging in bullying behavior,” she explains.

So, the next time you notice your child acting on their fear of the unknown, take it as an on-the-spot learning opportunity. “Nurturing empathy and modeling acceptance of all others is vital for parents to do themselves. Praise your children for any positive steps [they take] in the right direction,” Henderson suggests.

Sleeping badly

Depending on a kid’s history with Mr. Sandman, O’Leary says this sign may be slightly less subtle than the others. You might automatically associate your child's frantic energy with a busy school year — or maybe you jump to the frightening conclusion that they're battling a medical issue. In reality, they could simply be responding to bullying. “If your child is struggling to fall asleep, stay asleep or wake up, or if he or she is having nightmares, it's a good time to check in on social connections and friendships to see if bullying is contributing to the issue,” she says.

You can ask them directly about what’s making them struggle to count sheep or you can take a quick look at their public social media accounts. You might find obvious proof of bullying that’s interfering with their sleep, hygiene and health. And if you do? Take it as an opportunity to team together with your child; talk it out and determine the best course of action you'll both feel comfortable sleeping on.

Acting aggressive

If you care for multiple kids, you might notice a discrepancy in their personalities. Maybe the eldest is more vocal and outgoing, while the youngest is quieter and reserved. Though argumentative behavior can be totally normal (especially in teens), Henderson says to be on the lookout for an overly aggressive demeanor in children. If a child is combative with teachers, parents and adults — and/or if they present a positive view toward violence — they could be taking out their anguish on their schoolmates and friends. “Children may also easily justify their problematic behaviors. Talk to your child frequently about violence and aggression, and set consistent consequences for behaviors of this nature. Help them understand the impact of this behavior on others,” Henderson advises.

You should also be on the lookout for potential bullying habits if a child was once bullied him- or herself. "Sometimes children who are the target of bullying will become bullies in an effort to cope with the feelings of powerlessness and frustration they feel," Henderson explains. "Encourage your child to exhibit positive behavior within healthy friendship or peer groups that have good adult oversight. Most important, model good behavior yourself and be an active presence in your child’s life."

More: Witnessing Childhood Bullying Changed the Way I Parent

Regardless of whether you notice any of these telling signs in your child — and whether they truly mask bullying or victim behavior in this moment — it's important to be on the lookout. This way, you can step in to give words of encouragement, inspire change and even promote kindness. With the right intervention, you — and the kid in your life — can help end the cycle of bullying and torment, which definitely has no place in any hallway or classroom. Or anywhere for that matter.

We definitely don't want to be those adults who forbid their kids to eat Halloween candy and hand out raisins and toothbrushes to trick-or-treaters — but is it too much to ask for kids to consume just a little something healthy during the month of October? Being that there's so much glorious temptation this season, it seems like a tall order to ask the little hands to step away from the candy. However, with some clever disguising, it's totally possible to sneak in some produce, like these adorable monster-inspired fruit kebabs.

You're welcome.

Grace and Frankie actor Brooklyn Decker isn't going to let Chrissy Teigen and John Legend's little girl get away easily. Decker told Us that she's pretty much ready to start planning the wedding for her son, Hank, 2, and Luna, 18 months. (Don't worry. We're predicting a very long engagement.)

“It is my dream that he marries her. A lot of their friends want their children to marry Luna. I think she’s promised to several people. I gotta get Hank in there," Decker laughed.

Decker revealed to Us that Hank and Luna occasionally enjoy playdates in which they watch House of Cards together and argue about credit card bills. OK, so we made up the part about House of Cards and credit card tiffs. But they do have playdates, Decker confirmed. And it looks like she and Teigen have playdates too based on this Oct. 1 Instagram shot of the exhausted moms (and friend) posing at 1 a.m. with a red toy kitchen that took forever to assemble. We can so relate.

Decker added of Luna, “That child is so darling. People are fighting over her.” Decker and her husband, former tennis pro Andy Roddick, are rooting for unwitting suitor Hank. The couple also has a second child on the way — a girl. We can't wait to hear who they match her with. Our vote is for Khloé Kardashian's baby.

Decker didn't intend for the world to know she's got a baby girl on the way, but in July, Roddick let the cat out of the bag during a speech he delivered at the International Tennis Hall of Fame. Oopsie.

“I was shocked,” Decker told the magazine. “I did not know that he was going to announce our pregnancy in a speech publicly. I think he just got overwhelmed by the moment and he just blurted it out that we were not only pregnant, but having a daughter.... Our close friends and family knew, but not everyone in our lives knew and they are reaching out like, ‘What, you’re pregnant?’”

Congrats to the happy, completely oblivious toddler couple. Luna and Hank are registered at Toys R Us.

"I had a business appointment, which is his pattern of sexual predation. That’s how he rolled," she explained, adding that once in the room with him, she tried to block his advances. Despite the dozens of women who have made similar accusations against Weinstein, Judd is still surprisingly optimistic about his future and his possible rehabilitation.

"I believe there is hope and help for everyone," she said. "It has to be appropriate help. It has to be a real profound understanding on the sexual predator knowing that what they did is wrong and criminal."

Even in the message she would send to Weinstein today, Judd is full of compassion for a man who has been completely vilified in the eyes of many.

"What I would say to Harvey is, ‘I love you, and I understand you are sick and suffering and there is help for a guy like you too. And it is entirely up to you to get that help,'" she said. "It's just who I am. It's frankly an easier way to roll through the world than the alternative."

Dry Ice Is the Key to Taking Your Halloween Punch to Spooky New Heights

I think we can all agree that Halloween punch without creepy smoke flowing from it is just, well, a bucketful of Kool-Aid, basically. But add a little dry ice into the mix, and you've got a witch's cauldron full of double, double toil and trouble. All the bubbly magic will seriously take your All Hallows Eve party to the next level.

Dry ice is basically frozen carbon dioxide. Adding water changes it from a solid into a gas, creating a dense fog. It's a cheap and no-fuss special effect. Most grocery stores sell blocks of dry ice, although some carry pellets instead. Either will work.

As long as you're careful, you won't run into any problems using dry ice. But it's about -110 degrees F, so dry ice can cause injuries if you touch or ingest it. Be sure to use it in a well-ventilated area and keep it out of reach of pets and small children.

This method is safe and easy — it keeps the dry ice separate from the punch while still creating a dramatic boiling and smoking effect. You'll have the spookiest party on the block.

Dry ice punch bowl recipe

Total time: 10 minutes

Supplies:

  • Work gloves
  • Plastic or metal tongs
  • Dish towel
  • Hammer
  • 5 pounds dry ice
  • 1 large plastic or metal punch bowl (or cauldron)
  • 1 smaller plastic or metal punch bowl

Directions:

  1. Put on the gloves.
  2. In a well-ventilated area, wrap the dry ice in a towel and break it into chunks using a hammer.
  3. Use tongs to transfer chunks of dry ice into the larger of your 2 bowls, creating a flat space in the center.
  4. Place the second, smaller bowl inside the larger one.
  5. Pour your punch into the small center bowl, making sure no dry ice gets in.
  6. Fill a pitcher with warm water, then pour it on top of the dry ice.
  7. Add more dry ice chunks and water to the larger, outer bowl, being careful not to get any dry ice into the smaller punch bowl, throughout the night to keep the fog going.

Some tips:

  • Wear thick work gloves when opening the package of dry ice. (Kitchen gloves are too thin.)
  • Place the block of dry ice on a towel. Use a wooden or plastic work surface, as dry ice can crack tiles.
  • Wrap a towel around the block, then break it into chunks using a hammer.
  • Be sure both of the bowls you use are plastic or metal since dry ice can crack glass. Put any unused dry ice in an open plastic container and store it in a cooler filled with ice. Never store it in the refrigerator or freezer.
  • Five pounds of dry ice will last about an hour. Keeping a nearby fan on low will intensify the effect.
