Andy Samberg is engaged!

Another celebrity in Hollywood is putting a ring on it as a rep for Saturday Night Live alum, Andy Samberg, confirms that the funnyman is engaged to musician Joanna Newsom.

AndySambergEngaged

One funnyman is taking his love life seriously. That man is former Saturday Night Live star Andy Samberg who is engaged to singer-songwriter Joanna Newsom. US Weekly was the first to report the big news.

The couple has been dating for five years and they have led a relatively private life during their courtship.

A source tells US Weekly that the duo were smitten from the very beginning saying, "He liked her music and would go to her shows. He had the biggest crush on her."

With Samberg having his own music bent after creating viral videos on SNL like "Lazy Sunday" and "D**k in a Box", it appears that the relationship was a perfect match.

The 31-year-old bride-to-be loves all of his quirks.

A friend of the couple also told US Weekly, "She respects what he does with his songs. She's so proud of everything that he has accomplished."

While there is no word as to when the wedding will take place or even how the engagement went down, it is fun to speculate who might be on the official invite list. Will fellow SNL alums like Tina Fey and Jimmy Fallon make the cut or will it be newlyweds Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel in attendance? Samberg did attend the Biel-Timberlake nuptials in Italy last fall.

Nick Carter found "The One" >>

Samberg just finished hosting duties at the Independent Spirit Awards last Saturday. He also has the comedy The To Do List coming to the big screen in August and he's currently voicing the sequel to Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.

Congratulations, Andy and Joanna!

ABC planning a crazy Once Upon a Time spinoff

ABC's eyeing more Once Upon a Time. The network's planning a spinoff centered on a recurring character. Alice in Wonderland's Mad Hatter will be the focus of the new series.

Sebastian Stan Once Upon a Time's halfway through its second season and ABC has big plans for its future. The drama's still fairly new but they're already working on a spinoff.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the network's chosen the Mad Hatter for a solo adventure. The role is currently played by Sebastian Stan, who's appeared in six episodes since 2012. Unfortunately, because of his busy schedule he won't star in the spinoff.

Sebastian Stan mad for Once Upon a Time>>

The trade claims, "ABC and the producers hoped that Stan could have continued, but he was unavailable for long-term work." That's understandable considering his part in next year's Captain America: The Winter Soldier. He's one of the film's primary leads and we're not sure he'd have time for the pilot.

The spinoff will be produced by Once Upon a Time showrunners Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis. If they find a replacement for Stan, the pilot could join hopefuls for the fall 2013 season.

The network's not sure if they'll make it a backdoor pilot or a traditional pilot shot from scratch. The Mad Hatter is a famous character from Alice in Wonderland and they've already covered quite a bit of its history on Once.

Once Upon a Time casts a big bad mother>>

Not only has the Mad Hatter appeared multiple times, but they revealed Regina's mother Cora as the Queen of Hearts. The only thing that's missing is Alice herself.

Who do you think should play the new Mad Hatter?

Once Upon a Time airs Sundays at 8/7c on ABC.

The Carrie Diaries recap: Caught

Liking Carrie Bradshaw is risky business.

The Carrie Diaries recapThe Carrie Diaries was break-up central this week!

Carrie and George

Things were going good for Carrie and George. That is, until, she took him to the winter dance and spent the entire time watching Sebastian watching her. Eventually she cornered Kidd and told him to knock it off. Then, just to prove she was "over him", she planted one very serious kiss on George's lips and led him out of the dance and to his limo.

Once in the back of the limo, George wanted to keep at it, but Carrie wasn't ready. When he got nonchalant about sex and her virginity, it only made things worse. When he commented on how it must be because of her age, Carrie figured out George was basically a rich d-bag and that she didn't want to be with him. Their break-up was pretty anti-climactic... except for the part where he left her at the dance and told her to find another ride home.

Last week on The Carrie Diaries>>

Mouse and Seth

This one came out of nowhere — even Seth was surprised. It was so melodramatic. At the beginning of the show, Mouse received her first ever "B" on an assignment and immediately had a meltdown. To make her feel better, Mouse's teacher gave her a massive packet of extra credit. There was one stipulation, though. It had to be done by 8 p.m. on the night of the dance. Needless to say, Mouse spent the entire dance sitting in the hallway outside the classroom trying to finish the extra credit while Seth looked on.

After she missed the deadline and she and Seth were caught trying to break into the class to leave the paper on her teacher's desk, Mouse decided they needed to break up. School and their futures were both too important to them... they couldn't let a relationship stand in the way.

It's actually really logical insight for a high schooler, but it was delivered poorly and ended up just feeling very eye-roll worthy.

Dating advice from fictional femmes>>

Maggie and Walt

After Maggie was left alone and bored at the dance, she called up her old pal from the police department so they could fool around in the backseat of his cruiser. On her way out, though, the evil and conniving Donna LaDonna saw her. After watching as Sebastian looked at Carrie with those hurt puppy dog eyes, Donna needed a way to keep her claws hook into Kidd and she tried to use Maggie's tryst to her advantage.

During a bonding moment, though, Maggie told Carrie everything and Carrie told Mags that it's time for her to come clean to Walt. While we don't see the break-up, it seems pretty inevitable.

Star Spotlight: AnnaSophia Robb>>

Will Maggie finally come clean about the late night rendezvous with the law enforcement officer? Will Sebastian notice he can't shake his feelings for Carrie and decide to try again? And will this really be the end of Mouse and Seth? There's only one way to find out!

Clash of the teen fantasy films: Harry Potter meets Bella

The two made their careers with a teen fantasy drama, but the worlds were brought together Sunday night when Bella and Harry Potter presented together at the Oscars.

Daniel Radcliffe Kristen Stewart

It’s the clash of the fantasy fiction stars. Sunday night at the Oscars, Harry Potter’s Daniel Radcliffe finally met Twilight’s Kristen Stewart. In fact, the two presented an award together at the ceremony.

Stewart had to limp onto the stage, and the gentleman in Radcliffe said he felt awful about it.

"I felt so bad," Radcliffe told E! News. "I just wanted to pick her up, put her in my arms and carry her onto the stage."

However, Radcliffe is not too confident that he could have actually lifted her up.

Celebs in the Oscars audience: Revealing observations >>

"I probably would have dropped her and opened her wound again," Radcliffe joked.

Stewart said she had to bring the crutches because she had cut her foot on glass.

Radcliffe felt like it was finally time the two of them met, since both of their career-making roles were in very similar genres.

"I felt like this was a long time coming. I feel like we've been meant to meet," Radcliffe said. "This was the perfect way. And you know what? She is so nice — really, really nice."

He also met two fellow actors Channing Tatum and Joseph Gordon-Levitt backstage and had what he felt was a profound moment with them.

"I looked at them and was like, 'Remember your first day of work on your first job? Could you believe we're doing this now?'" Radcliffe told E! News. "They were actually thinking the same thing. The night has been surreal. I never thought I'd be doing any of this."

The Oscars try something new with a musical theme >>

The 23-year-old had many exciting moments for his first trip to the Oscars, and was excited about each part of it.

"It was fun," he said. "I can't say enough good things about Seth MacFarlane. I hold him in the highest regard."

Radcliffe has been working on different parts now that the Harry Potter series is finished. He currently has at least three projects in the works, all set to be out in 2013.

Jack Nicholson crashes Jennifer Lawrence interview

Jennifer Lawrence has a new fan, but she didn't expect it to be 75-year-old Jack Nicholson who crashed her Good Morning America interview.

JenniferLawrenceInterviewJennifer Lawrence won of a legion of new fans at Sunday night's Oscars. She charmed the audience as she swiftly recovered from her fall up to the stage and the Best Actress winner also charmed an older gentleman.

That older gentleman would be none other than three-time Oscar winner Jack Nicholson.

Lawrence was being interviewed by Good Morning America host George Stephanopoulos at the Governors Ball after the ceremony. Just as the morning anchor was asking a question, he noticed someone lurking in the background.

That's when Nicholson crashed the interview.

Stephanopoulos points out to the Lawrence, "Oh, you've got a fan here."

That opening allowed The Shining actor to jump in and heap praise upon the 22-year-old. He said, "Such a beautiful job. I know I'm crashing your interview."

Lawrence looked genuinely shocked and a bit embarrassed as the legendary actor complimented her. She clasped her hands over her mouth and giggled, "Oh, my god!"

Nicholson didn't seem to want to leave the Silver Linings Playbook actress as he lingered for a moment in the background.

Lawrence asks, "Is he still here?" as she felt his presence behind her.

The 75-year-old ladies' man joked, "I'll be waiting."

Then the quick-witted gal quipped, "I need a rear view mirror."

JLaw better be prepared for more surreal moments like this because her life just changed overnight with that Oscar win.

Then, as she was taking her Nicholson exchange all in, Jennifer Garner waved at her pal.

Lawrence waved back and laughed, "This is my life now. 'Hey Jack, hey Jennifer. How are you?'"

Get used to it, JLaw, you are officially an A-lister now!

The Following recap: Shoot out at the farm house

Things take a turn for the worst for everyone when more followers arrive and ruin the FBI's plan to rescue Hardy and Joey.

Carroll torments his ex-wife

This week's episode of The Following was jammed with twists, turns and dead bodies. I forgot to take a breath with all the suspense. One thing this show has been great at is not giving us happy endings and "The Fall" was no different.

Missed last week's episode? Here's the recap! >>

Emma , Jacob and Paul have collected quite a few hostages at this point. There's Joey, Megan and now Ryan Hardy all trapped within the little farmhouse that is now surrounded by the FBI .

Hardy's doing his best to make smart*** comments to create some tension between the dysfunctional threesome. He definitely hits a nerve with Jacob when he brings up the whole three-way sex-capade they have going. Jacob loses his temper, but still doesn't do anything threatening. I'm starting to think Emma and Paul are right about this guy. He doesn't have what it takes to follow through.

Why Bacon decided to tackle TV >>

Things take a turn for the worst when Emma escapes with Joey, leaving Paul and Jacob behind. Hardy gets a hold of a knife, cuts his way through his ropes, stabs Paul in the gut and busts out with Megan. He's able to get Megan to safety and tries to coordinate with Weston to capture Emma.

Weston is working with a local female cop when they run into Emma and Joey. The sweet-faced cop suddenly shoots Weston and helps Emma and Joey. Hardy finds the women by a black SUV and shoots the dirty cop before she even has a chance to blink. But, scared Joey gets into the truck with Emma and they drive away before Hardy can intervene.

Hardy schools the new guy: The Following video >>

Then, another Carroll follower appears as FBI, kills a couple agents and helps Jacob and Paul get away. They make it safely away from the scene and try to make contact with Emma. She answers her cell phone, but refuses to say a word when they ask her why she abandoned them. Meanwhile, Paul's bleeding out and it's not looking good.

As for Claire , she was able to get away from her kidnapper because he's in love with her. He tried to kiss her, was immediately overwhelmed with guilt for betraying Carroll and bashed his forehead into the wall repeatedly. That's one way of dealing with regret. So, she's home now and pretty furious with Hardy for not keeping his promise and bringing her son home.

What will happen now that the trio has been broken? Will Emma be able to pull this off on her own or is there another man she'll seduce and yell at to impress Caroll? Whatever happens, she's clearly everyone's next target.

First date hair dos and don'ts

Heading on a first date? While you're figuring out where to go and what to wear, don't forget to give your hair some attention! Justine Piecuch, hairstylist at Boston's renowned Jeffrey Lyle Salon, shares her first date hair dos and don'ts.

Make your 'do a Do

Heading on a first date? While you're figuring out where to go and what to wear, don't forget to give your hair some attention! Justine Piecuch, hairstylist at Boston's renowned Jeffrey Lyle Salon, shares her first date hair dos and don'ts.

First dates couldn't be more nerve-wracking. If all we had to do was put together the final details, it would probably be a piece of cake. Instead we spend countless hours trying on 20 different outfits and talking in the mirror, trying to figure out how to describe ourselves.

In the process, we tend to forget one minor thing: what men think about our hair at first sight. I have always been one to question my single male clients about their dating lives and am always shocked to see how much they actually DO notice the small things. Being a hairstylist, they always tell me what they thought about a woman's hair. Taking their thoughts, here are some of the dos and don'ts of first date hair!

Do maintain your hair color

If you have gray roots, get them done. Visible roots can reveal a lot about a woman's age, and men will quickly notice. Besides, obvious roots just look sloppy and unkempt! If it's the cost of coloring that you're concerned about, work out a plan with your stylist. Single gals should always look somewhat put together when looking for a mate.

Do trim unruly ends

If it's been a while and you need to really work to smooth out those ends, go get them trimmed. One thing men do notice is whether or not hair looks good. Guys like things that look shiny, healthy and natural! Dead hair looks frizzy and dry, and nothing says you don't take care of yourself more than that.

Don't get over done

Before you go out, think about the place you're going and try to create an appropriate 'do just like you would an outfit. If you're doing something active, a simply pony is perfect. Getting overly done says you're way too high maintenance, and although some men love this, it's a major turn off for most.

Do put some effort in

Getting over done is a definite no, but not doing anything at all simply says you don't care. Men love it when we spend a little time looking good just for them. Date night is definitely the time to take your daily look and turn it up a notch.

Do keep it natural

Women often ask whether men prefer curls or straight hair. The easiest answer is that every man is different, but as a hairstylist, I often lean more toward the straighter side. Doing a simple at-home blowout is an easy way to polish up locks, but if you're hair challenged, go get one done.

Don't play with your hair!

For many women, nerves lead them to play with their hair. If you want to show your date you're interested in him, a flirty flip or toss over the shoulder is all you need! Anything more is straight up annoying.

6 Ways to have more confident body language>>

Do show your face

Men often say they love it when their girl has her hair pulled back, no makeup on and is wearing sweatpants. I swear if this were really true, it would save us all millions of hours in our busy lives. But there is something to be said for the toned down look. If you're feeling ultra-confident, pulling hair back can be perfect and leaves some element of surprise. A loose chignon is great for almost any date and outfit. Talk about being fast too!

Toddlers are crazy — they’re constantly on the go, they explore their surroundings and get into everything, and they need constant entertainment. It’s hard work having a toddler at home, worse yet traveling with one!
Toddler girl at airport

Toddler travel tips

Toddlers are crazy — they’re constantly on the go, they explore their surroundings and get into everything, and they need constant entertainment. It’s hard work having a toddler at home, worse yet traveling with one!

Toddlers are classified as anyone between the ages of one and three. They’re learning to walk, developing their motor skills and growing emotionally and physically.

Most would describe the toddler years as the toughest, since communication is difficult and tantrums are at an all-time high. While we love toddlers and their knack for learning and exploring, it can be rather difficult taking them places — especially places that are far away. Whether traveling by plane or by car, we have some tips to help make the trip a little more enjoyable with a toddler in tow.

Tips for traveling by plane

The good news is that if your child is under the age of two, they fly for free. The bad news is they will be sitting on your lap the entire flight. To make the plane ride a little less stressful, utilize the following tips:

  • Bring plenty of food and drinks to avoid ear pain. Keep their jaws moving! We suggest bringing snacks that are harder to chew, such as fruit or chewy granola bars. During takeoff and landing, offer your toddler water or milk to keep their ears from hurting.
  • Fly during naptime or nighttime. If you can handle a red-eye flight, go with that. More than likely, your little one will sleep the entire way. If you must fly during the day, try to choose a time that’s closest to their naptime. If your toddler ends up sleeping the whole flight — consider yourself the luckiest person on the planet!
  • Allow extra time for everything. Get to the airport earlier than normal, allow extra time between flights if you have a layover and plan for the unexpected. Giving yourself and your toddler plenty of extra time allows for bathroom breaks, snack time, exploring and even temper tantrums.
  • Bring toys — and lots of them! DVDs are great, too. Now is not the time to worry about how much television they’re watching — flying can be stressful for little ones, so if their favorite movie relaxes them, let them watch it. Bring plenty of books and even paper and crayons for them to draw with. iPhone apps are another great tool for keeping your little one occupied.

Tips for traveling by car

The nice thing about road trips with toddlers is you don’t have to worry about them causing chaos around other people. You also set your own schedule and can take breaks as you please. To make road trips a little easier, we recommend the following:

  • Drive at night. Just like with flying, if you can plan the trip so the toddler sleeps the majority of the way, it’s a win-win.
  • Assume it will take longer to get there. If the trip normally takes 8 hours, plan on it taking 10. By giving yourself plenty of extra time, you won’t stress every time you need to stop or pull over.
  • Bring toys. If possible, install a DVD player behind your seat so your little one can watch a few movies. If not, bring plenty of toys and games to keep your toddler occupied. For specific toy and game ideas, check out these top travel toys for kids.
  • Bring a trash bag. Bring a bag — or two — for all the trash your little one will accumulate on this trip. Empty snack bags, diapers, wipes, tissues and empty drink containers will need to be stashed somewhere!
  • Have plenty of snacks available. Try to bring snacks that won’t make too much of a mess — such as goldfish crackers, sliced apples, banana chips and granola bars. Make sure to bring plenty of water and juice, as well!

True blue

Emerald green might be the talk of the town when it comes to colors, but it's not the only hot hue worth adding to your home. Monaco blue has been blessed by Pantone as the official color for spring, and we're not surprised. It's just deep enough to be able to anchor a room, but it's also a shade that plays well with bold, graphic patterns. We suggest adding a Monaco blue accent wall or, if paint sounds a bit too daunting, adding some accents in this regal shade to any room. Our pick: Leave this bold blue serving bowl on your counter filled with apples or citrus fruits .

Plain walls can get boring. This spring, why not think about adding something a little extra to give any room a decorative boost? Outfitting one room in textured wallpaper is a great way to add interest to your space. Wallpaper today is a lot more stylish and easy to work with than it has been in decades past, so don't be afraid to experiment. You can also embellish your walls with oversize decals and even chalkboard paint .

Lots of lace

Lace metal ceilling disk

Lace has already taken the fashion world by storm, but it's also making its way into the world of decor, and why not? Spring is the perfect time to lighten up your space with something delicate, and lace fits the bill. We've seen it as a print on everything from serving bowls to saucers, but you can also find it on bedspreads, pillow covers, pretty hand-knit throws and tablecloths. For something a little different when it comes to lace, we love this lace pattern ceiling medallion as a way to add some character to a neutral room .

A bit of beige

Beige room with maroon sofa

If your first though about beige is that it's boring or hardly worthy of a trend, you might want to think again. Beige is back for spring, and it's far from bland, especially when it's used to up the ante of bolder hues or take on a totally new look when paired with cream, metallics or ivory. Skip over beige accessories like pillows or rugs and instead use beige to make an emerald accent wall really pop or make cream or similarly lighter-hued furniture really stand out.

Focus on floral

What better time to play with florals than just as the weather starts to warm up? This spring, give your space some color for a new season with the help of bold yet sophisticated floral patterns. Choose from either graphic florals, which stray from the often-feminine nature of the print , or go for something more wispy and abstract .

Again? Has Taylor Swift scored another British boyfriend?

T-Swift has been spotted gallivanting around London Town with a new guy, Tom Odell.

Taylor Swift and Tom Odell dating?

Oh, Tay. You know what we admire about her? She never gives up. After all the heartbreaks and public breakups, she keeps trudging along... bound and determined to find her so-called "prince." Her newest possible conquest? The budding English singer-songwriter, Tom Odell.

The two have been caught chatting each other up on numerous occasions. Most recently, they were seen inside a local pub and then spotted leaving Groucho Club, a new London hot spot. Before that, they met up at the Brit Awards, where Swift performed "I Knew You Were Trouble" and Odell took home a Critics' Choice award.

Taylor sued over canceled concert>>

That wasn't their first encounter, though. They've tweeted back and forth as well.

If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, Tom has had Taylor in the bag since January, when he covered a slowed-down version of her single, "Trouble" at the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge. It's a cool and unique version, too. He took her pop-y, upbeat breakup song and turned it into a slow-burning, Radiohead-esque song of torment. Check it out...

Pretty awesome, right? Taylor thought so! When she heard the performance, she gushingly tweeted, "So I was already a [Tom Odell] superfan. Now I'm just floored. This is so good."

Odell replied, "yesssssssss pleased you like it.. xx."

When a reporter mentioned that the tweet may have been Taylor's way of flirting with Tom, the singer didn't seem to mind and even shelled out a few more compliments for the "pretty girl."

Harry Styles spills T-Swift breakup deets>>

Of course, we believe it's entirely possible that the two are just friends. However, with Taylor's serial dating track record, we're thinking this is probably leading up to something more. Would that be so bad? It certainly wouldn't hurt Tom's career and maybe this time around things will actually work out for Taylor!

Nigella serves up traditional Italian fare

Cookbook review: Nigellissima Easy Italian-inspired Recipes by Nigella Lawson

It's easy to make traditional, Italian-inspired dishes. In her new cookbook, Nigella Lawson explains how and gives each of these recipes a personal touch.

From pasta to pork chops to panna cotta, Nigella Lawson provides Italian-inspired dishes in her latest cookbook, Nigellissima: Easy Italian-Inspired Recipes. What she wants readers to understand is that these recipes are traditional in the sense that the ingredients she uses are fresh, and her method of preparation is simple — just as a traditional Italian meal would be made.

Buy a copy of Nigellissima>>

Italian with a personal touch

What gives these recipes a new twist is Nigella's singular style. While you'll find plenty of pasta recipes, you won't find a spaghetti-and-meatballs dish, waiting to be served on a table covered with a red and white checked tablecloth. Instead, you'll find Shrimp Pasta Rosa, a dish with a lighter sauce made with tomato paste, mascarpone and rosato vermouth, which gives the dish a fresh, fruity flavor and is used where red wine might normally be found. You'll also come across Apricot and Almond Crostata made with almond meal, apricot preserves and lemon zest. For this recipe she encourages readers to use the preserves of their choice, as long as they're not too sweet.

Nigella introduces each recipe and expressively describes her rationale for the ingredients used, how the traditional Italian version might be prepared, and what you might serve with it to complete the meal.

Time well spent

At this point you might wonder how Nigella knows as much as she does about traditional Italian food. Granted, she is an internationally best-selling cookbook author and food television personality, but when she was in her late teens, she spent time in Florence, Italy, working as a chambermaid in a family-run pensione. It was there that she learned about Italian cooking from the family's Nonna, not specifically by being taught, but by observing, and by practicing the art of frugal eating due to necessity.

A little help in the kitchen

In the book's Introduction, Nigella reviews several ingredients used to "make my daily cooking life easier." Don't skip over the list. You'll find it useful to prepare the recipes in the book. Each of the 120 simple recipes is paired with a large, colorful photo to give you an idea of what you'll enjoy.

"A tavola!" as they say in Italy: "Time to eat!" Try one of Nigella's Italian-inspired past dishes:

Spaghetti with tuna, lemon & arugula

Spaghetti with Tuna, Lemon & Arugula

Serves 2

Ingredients:

  • 8 ounces spaghetti
  • Salt for pasta water, to taste
  • 1 can tuna in olive oil , drained
  • Zest and juice from 1 unwaxed lemon
  • 1/2 clove garlic, peeled
  • 3 scallions, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes, or to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt or 1/4 teaspoon table salt, or to taste
  • 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 cup arugula, packed

Directions:

  1. Put a big pot of water on to boil for the pasta, and once boiling, salt the water and add the spaghetti, cooking following the package instructions, though it's best to start checking 2 minutes before it should be ready.
  2. While that's cooking, fork the drained tuna into a large bowl and add the lemon zest and juice and grate in the garlic.
  3. Still using your fork, add and mix in the sliced scallions, then season to taste with the red pepper flakes and salt and, finally, add the extra-virgin olive oil, beating with your fork to combine.
  4. Before draining the spaghetti, scoop out a little pasta-cooking liquid, then toss the drained pasta into the bowl of tuna, scallions, etc., and mix together really well, adding a spoonful or so of pasta-cooking water to bring some starchy creaminess to the sauce.
  5. Add the arugula leaves and gently work them through the pasta before dividing it between 2 bowls.

Alexandra Hedin and family

Lately, it seems like moms are doing more than ever — they're working, cooking gourmet meals and crafting up a storm — all while raising their families and maintaining marriages and relationships at the same time. Whew!

Behind the scenes
with this creative mom

So, what do you think? Can moms really have it all?

Meet Alexandra

One of these things is not like the other: Lots of glitter, craft and DIY projects that would make Martha Stewart herself as green as Pantone's 2013 color of the year, regular TV appearances, writing a book... and three kids under the age of 5. Meet Alexandra Hedin, lifestyle and entertaining expert who, with her signature ponytail and colorful point of view , gives us a fresh perspective on what it means to have it all.

A day in the life

Alexandra Hedin

When we asked Alexandra to describe a typical day as a working mom with three young children at home, she gave a one-word answer that pretty much says it all: Chaos. And, as most moms would agree, between the morning rush to get everyone dressed and out the door in one piece, cramming in some projects/chores/emails/work while her littlest one, Judson, takes a short nap in the morning, making healthy meals to sustain everyone throughout the day and then rushing back to school to pick up the older kiddos, Lars and Pearl, the four hours at home goes by in the blink of an eye for Alexandra.

As is proof on her blog, her work with Seattle-based lifestyle magazine, 425 Magazine, her regular television appearances and all of the creative ideas that she puts into action, rather than just pinning on her Pinterest boards, like the rest of us do, Alexandra knows something that the rest of us don't.

As Alexandra shares, it's less about having enough hours in the day to be successful at both home and work, but more about throwing the concept of balance out the window and meshing the two worlds together. "It's a blending of work and personal life," she says. "It's easy to incorporate my children into crafting, cooking and product testing on a regular basis. [Oftentimes], it isn't just dinner at our house, but recipe testing too."

On the flipside, Alexandra candidly tells us that life is not all roses and glitter at the Hedin household. She says, "There are days when Mr. Hedin has had enough of the same dinner several nights in a row , when Pearl thinks my project is 'not so pretty' or when Lars wants to play a game on my computer and I need to answer emails."

She also says, "Nothing is perfect, but that also depends on what you define as perfect. I'm a pretty lucky gal that I get to work from home, do what I love and be around my children — to me, that makes it perfect."

On having it all

When we asked Alexandra about "having it all," her perspective was fresh and a good reminder to moms of all kinds — whether you are a working mother, a stay-at-home mother, or somewhere in between where you and your family are creating the life that you desire — it comes down to this — we do have it all because we are able to have it all, if we want to.

"I think the problem
is the pressure we put on ourselves to make everything super perfect."

And, even a mom whose career is to show you how to make living as pretty as possible, Alexandra leaves us with this piece of advice, "I think the problem is the pressure we put on ourselves to make everything super perfect." When it comes to having it all — a family, a career, a life — she reminds us, "Friends will forgive you for being late to a girls' night, your kids will recover if you read one book instead of two, and your husband can order pizza a few nights."

While she's here...

Alexandra was kind enough to also send us her best entertaining tips for moms:

  1. Get personalized napkins now. Go to ForYourParty.com and order them up. No matter what you serve or what you do, you automatically look pulled together with personalized napkins.
  2. Have a cocktail before your guests arrive... even if you are still peeling potatoes. Relax a little — if you are totally stressed out then your guests will never be comfortable.
  3. Know your audience. When I have friends over who have children, I always have a kid-friendly option, like tater tots or meatballs. If you're hosting people who don't have children, make sure your own will be entertained without you around. If you have non-drinkers, serve something that appeals to them like dry soda or sparkly water.

You can find Alexandra Hedin on her website, where you can also find her fantastic blog , as well as on Facebook.

The Face's Margaux blogs: This week was very intense!

$

This week's episode of The Face was very intense... Of course, it started out with a debate between Devyn and Ebony, regarding whether or not Stephanie could "handle" the competition. In my opinion, a competition is a learning experience, and while Stephanie may have had a larger learning curve, everyone should just be respectful and worry about themselves! Now, moving on...

Let's skip the drama and jump right into the “quick change” test shoot. We basically had to run behind a screen, change into a gorgeous Christian Siriano ensemble, grab a single Marshalls accessory on our way out, and then walk the runway with control and poise. Karolina led by example, completing the challenge in well under a minute. Zi Lin followed with minute and a half, feeling unconfident about her performance, and I guess it was for good reason because Devyn was the first to oust Zi Lin’s position at a time of 1:09. Her idea to throw a jacket over her unzipped dress was brilliant. Why didn’t I think of that?

One after another the girls failed at the quick change, leaving Devyn in the lead. I went last. I didn’t really have a strategy, I just knew I had to get naked as fast as possible, avoid getting makeup on the clothes, and keep my cool on the runway.

I ended up beating Devyn by a mere 2 seconds. I felt overjoyed and excited, but Devyn quickly tried to squash that by asking Nigel if “coming around the corner was included in the rules." I think Nigel, Karolina and I were all a little shocked by her reaction, and Karolina went on to say she was “disappointed” in her team member. Nigel ended the debacle by telling Devyn to “get off her pedestal, and back to the loft.” I can’t believe she tried to throw me under the bus. It was very unbecoming.

Marlee received some news from home and decided she had to go back and take care of her family. I was honestly so sad to see her go. People don’t know from watching the show but Marlee and I were literally inseparable; she was my closest friend in the loft and I knew how hard it was for her to leave. She saw this opportunity as a chance for her to accomplish her lifelong dream, but family comes first; I understood that and so did Coco. Marlee is an amazing model but an even more amazing mother! Her daughter Key and future son are so lucky to have her!

Up next: Margaux's terrified for the weekly campaign!>>

{pageBreak}

Next up was our weekly campaign. Nigel told us that we would be walking in a runway show for Kleinfeld. I was so excited. I had never had the chance to wear a wedding gown on the runway. But then Nigel told us that our challenge would literally have some “ups and downs” as we would be walking up a set of enormous staircases. I went into immediate panic mode. I’ve fallen down stairs in my own house more than a few times and that was when I was barefoot, so the idea of walking up some 20 odd stairs in a 20-30 pound gown, in 6-inch heels, was not exciting.

We received a little time to work on our walk with our coaches and rehearse on some stairs in our gowns in the back on the house; little did I know they were the smallest stairs ever and I totally slid down all of them. But being the nerd I am, I got right back up and made a joke about it saying, “I’m going to do that out there” . Insert foreshadowing here!

It was time for the real show to begin. First out of the gate was Stephanie and she killed it! I had never seen her look so poised and elegant. She didn’t even glance down at the stairs once! Brittany followed and Coco was not impressed saying, “She is so awkward walking down those stairs. I know Brittany is trying to be beautiful, but that isn’t beautiful,” I hate to say it, but I totally agreed. Brittany’s poses at the end of the runway were a little over the top.

Next, it was my turn. Yay! Just kidding, I was terrified. My dress was a little long, and to make it better, I had already fallen down the practice stairs backstage. I knew all I could do was remain calm, focus and hope! I made it down the stairs and to the end of the runway; what a total relief! But apparently I got ahead of myself because on the second to last step, I pulled a Jennifer Lawrence and collapsed. Just like the Oscar-winning beauty, I got back up, turned around, and smiled at the audience. Any one of the coaches will tell you, it’s not about how you fall, it’s about how you get back up in this business. I think I handled it really well.

None of the other girls seemed to stand out to me, but they also didn't fall and make a scene. I thought Madeleine and Devyn looked stunning; they both carried themselves so well, even despite Madeleine’s slight dress fiasco going up the stairs . Jocelyn seemed very uninterested in the whole affair, leaving Naomi unimpressed and mentioning numerous times that Jocelyn was “not a runway girl.” In the end, Zi Lin stole the show in her beyond enormous, couture creation of a gown. That thing was monstrous and all I can say is that I’m glad I didn’t get that dress.

In the deliberation, Kleinfeld fashion director Terry Hall mentioned the positives and negatives for each team. He started with Team Naomi, only mentioning Zi Lin and saying she worked that huge dress. He said Ebony from Team Karolina failed to work her train, and Madeleine appeared “lifeless.” For Team Coco, he remarked on my lack of expression, saying that after I fell, I had a lot of expression and he'd wished I’d had it from the beginning . When it came time for him to review Brittany, he couldn’t even remember who she was. He flipped through photos and realized she was the only one in a black wedding dress whose “staring was distracting." In the end, he announced Team Naomi as the winner, earning 33 of the total 50 votes. I wonder how many of those were for Zi Lin. Way to carry your team up and down those stairs to the win, girl!

Back at the loft Nigel announced the winner and Sandra, of course, went ballistic. She had a knack for making us all feel even more horrible about losing. That was the third time Team Coco has been in the bottom and I was worried I was headed to the elimination room. To my surprise, Coco admitted that falling happens, and that it's not about whether your fall or not, it's about being the “memorable one." She then said that Brittany wasn’t memorable, and ended up sending her to elimination . I was so glad I was safe for another week, but I sad to see one of our team members sent to the elimination room, and against Naomi, nonetheless. Karolina chose Ebony as a strategic move, saying that she felt Madeleine wouldn’t be able to handle it.Naomi Campbell, The Face

Although Naomi claimed the elimination room was “not a hot seat that she likes to be in,” I got the impression it was a seat she actually loved to be in. Once Ebony and Brittany were standing before her, they both divulged their equally hard life stories, but Naomi was not amused, firing back, “I did not appear on the September issue of Anna Wintour’s American Vogue, by going in front of her saying, ‘this is my life story, I’ve never met my father’ no she doesn’t want to hear it.” Naomi was cutthroat and not basing her decision off the better sob story, which I really liked and respected.

In the end, she chose Ebony to stay because of her “drive.” Brittany closed the show with a heartwarming speech about how this was just another obstacle that she would have to overcome. She said, “This unfortunately for me is another one of those ‘no’s’ and I just have to keep going and wait for that ‘yes.’”

Brittany is one of the strongest girls I know. This is only a speed bump on her way to success. Get it girl, you will be missed, and you are obviously Team Coco for life!

Team Coco is now the first team to have only two girls. We really need a win. Tune in next week to meet the hardest client I’ve ever had to work with... ever! The Face airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on Oxygen.

Reeva Steenkamp's family denies pregnancy rumors

The family of slain model Reeva Steenkamp denies media reports that she was pregnant at the time she was killed.

Oscar Pistorius

The latest salacious rumor in the Oscar Pistorius murder case? That his gorgeous girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp was pregnant at the time she was killed — and that it was this very revelation that sent the Olympian into a murderous rage.

Problem is, it's simply not true. The Steenkamp family spoke out against The National Enquirer's speculation yesterday, going so far as to issue an official media statement.

Pistorius "must suffer" says victim's dad>>

"The post mortem would have revealed if Reeva was pregnant and it did not reveal anything like this," family spokesman Mike Steenkamp told the Times Live. "Maybe it comes from the other side, to garner and build up some sort of support for Oscar," he said.

The Enquirer had reported that Pistorius was suspicious Steenkamp was cheating with a close friend and flew into a rage when she revealed her so-called pregnancy.

Ex of Oscar Pistorius' girlfriend wants cold, hard justice>>

"Police believe the pregnancy secret she revealed is what sent Pistorius over the edge and left her dead, with bullet wounds to the head, chest, pelvis and hand," a source supposedly told the rag.

"Later that night, neighbors complained of shouting and fighting coming from the house. Police were called to investigate, but it appeared to be just another lover’s spat, so nothing was done except to ask them to quiet down."

None of those things is true. Police did not come to the Pistorius home until emergency services were called after the shooting. It appears the Enquirer story was made up of whole cloth.

Oscar Pistorius maintains he accidentally shot Steenkamp when he mistook her for a burglar. He is free on 1 million Rand bail until trial.

Happy Wednesday Hump Day — also known to us as Celebrity Baby Bump Day! We have rounded up the cutest pregnant celebrities of the week, including pregnant Kate Middleton — who is finally starting to show! The best-dressed Oscar baby bumps included Kim Kardashian and Jenna Dewan-Tatum, while pregnant Fergie was spotted in Paris. Joining us this week is a newly pregnant Courtney Mazza, who is expecting a baby with her husband Mario Lopez.

Kate Middleton

Pregnant Kate Middleton made her second official appearance of the year at the Hope House in London — and she caused quite a stir!

The Duchess of Cambridge showed off a tiny baby bump in a Max Mara wrap dress that fit and flattered her body perfectly.

The Max Mara jersey grey print dress, which was on sale for $195, sold out within hours — however you can get on the list to be notified when it becomes available. This dress is not maternity, so both pregnant and non-pregnant women were vying for this chic dress!

Kate is due in July with her first child with Prince William. We can’t wait to see what she wears at her next official appearance, which is scheduled for March 5.

Next up: Kim Kardashian is also due in July — compare their baby bumps

Kim Kardashian

Pregnant Kim Kardashian poses with Kourtney Kardashian at Elton John’s Oscar party on February 24. Kim, who is expecting her first child in July with Kanye West, is wearing a Donna Karan white maxi dress from her Resort 2013 collection.

Kim had been criticized for her awkward maternity fashion choices up to this point, including leather pants, tight dresses, sheer tops and peplum pants.

"I think because I have big boobs it could make me look heavier if I don't, like, show off my waist or something,” she told DuJour magazine. “So I just have kind of learned to dress one way only.“

She recently wrote her first “mommy blog” where she revealed a maternity fashion find — J Brand maternity jeans.

“They are these super comfy maternity jeans with soft, stretchy side panels in the front and they are absolutely amazing!” she wrote. “I feel like I’m back to my old self and I’m so happy! With this being my first pregnancy I’ve been finding it really difficult to find clothes that are comfortable and fit me well, but these are great.“

Jenna is glowing in a black lace Rachel Roy gown, while Channing is gorgeous in Gucci.

“We’re gonna have the baby in London while I’m shooting, and there will be no downtime whatsoever after that,” Channing told reporters of the couple’s busy schedule, saying that she “has a few more months” before giving birth and described the pregnancy as “his greatest production yet.”

How adorable is he?

“What a fun show!! How great was hubs dancing??!” Jenna tweeted, referring to Channing’s performance during the Oscars. “Feeling reaaaalllly pregnant right now but parties here I come!”

Pregnant Fergie

Fergie

Pregnant Fergie showed off her funky style — and the beginning of a baby bump! — as she arrived at the Kanye West concert in Paris on February 25 wearing a silky black tee with a blazer and striped pants.

Fergie, 37, recently announced that she and her husband, Josh Duhamel, are expecting their first child together. She made the announcement on Twitter, writing: ”Josh & Me & BABY makes three!!!”

Duhamel is excited to be a father, telling reporters at the London premiere of Safe Haven, ”It’s very exciting. Seeing that ultrasound is unlike anything you’ve ever seen. You’re like, ’Wow, it’s mine.’”

”I’ve got nieces and nephews and all my friends have kids,” he continued. ”All that stuff is a learning experience for when it actually happens, but I don’t think you’re ever truly prepared until it’s your own.”

Extra! host Mario Lopez proudly touched the baby bump of his pregnant wife, Courtney Mazza, at the QVC Oscars pre-party. The couple, who are already parents to a daughter named Gia, recently announced they are expecting their second baby together.

So will Gia have a brother or a sister?

”We don't find out,” Mazza told SheKnows. ”That's what we did with Gia.”

She also revealed that she is having a great pregnancy so far, saying she has been craving licorice and chocolate. ”It's going great, I can't complain,” she said. ”I didn't know I was pregnant this time around. With Gia, I had never been pregnant before, but I knew that I was pregnant. So, this was like ’Oh, I'll take a test,’ because I just wasn't feeling myself. So, some things are different, but I really can't complain.”

Chris Brown says beating up Rihanna was a huge mistake and he's worked hard for her forgiveness — but will he ever have ours?

Rihanna and Chris Brown

He viciously assaulted Rihanna in 2009, but Chris Brown has been forgiven by his fellow singer and the two are cozy and coupled up again, much to the chagrin of many of her fans. Should we forgive him, too?

In an interview with the U.K. news site the Mirror, Brown says he has worked hard to earn Rihanna's forgiveness, and that the incident was the worst moment of his life.

Chris Brown dodges a bullet>>

“Sometimes you row, you fight, with the one you love and things get said, stuff spirals," he said. "That night was the deepest regret of my life, the biggest mistake.

"But she loves me — what can I say? I'm forgiven… but, yes, I worked hard for it," adding that earning Rihanna's trust back took many months of "serious making up."

Brown spoke to the Mirror while attending Elton John's AIDS Foundation Oscars party right after Academy Awards host Seth MacFarlane cracked a joke about how the violent slavery film Django Unchained was like "date night for Rihanna and Chris Brown."

Rihanna DGAF what we think about Chris Brown romance>>

Brown was unimpressed. “People attack me and criticise me, it happens all the time," he said. "But they don't know me, and they don't know us. It doesn't bother me any more."

"Other people can judge us but they don't know anything."

"I've learned a lot since that night and I've grown up. I was very young and I took a lot of stuff, fame, for granted," he said. "I didn't understand it. The support from those who do know me and the fans, who are incredible, got me through."
