Solange Knowles goes pants-free at Beyoncé's doc party

Solange Knowles knows how to grab the camera's attention. When she showed up at big sister Beyoncé's documentary-screening party, the young singer went pants-free!

Solange Knowles

Check out Solange Knowles' pants-free look at the official New York screening of her sister's documentary, Beyoncé:Life Is but a Dream. There was a whole lot of leg happening Tuesday night at the Ziegfeld Theatre!

Pairing what looked to be a man's dress shirt with open-toe, ankle-strap heels and not much else, Solange Knowles is said to have upstaged Beyoncé's own stroll down the red carpet.

Huh? Solange Knowles armed with an inflatable banana, say Miami police>>

The documentary star, mother of BFF Blue Ivy Carter, opted for a comparatively modest, sparkling Elie Saab Couture gown, complete with strategically placed straps accenting her ample bosom. Still, all the high-fashion trickery couldn't compete with Solange's invisible skirt for the camera's attention!

Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland dominate the Grammys red carpet>>

Admitting to Oprah Winfrey she's nervous about sharing so much of her life with the HBO-viewing public, Beyoncé said in a pretaped interview, "I woke up this morning and thought, 'What did I do?'"

Oprah gushed of Beyoncé's documentary work in return, saying, "She did an amazing job. People are going to be amazed... People are going to feel a connection to her that they didn't feel before because she shows us how real she is. She understands that all pain is the same. The way she hurts is the same way other people have hurt."

Love-fest alert! In a video of the premiere after-party, it appears Solange Knowles had a momentary wardrobe malfunction when her white top popped open, revealing a black bra underneath. The 26-year-old handled it in stride, putting her top back together without missing a beat.

Are you a fan of Solange Knowles' no-pants look?

Jillian Michaels & Melissa McCarthy? Hollywood's unlikely BFFs

$

Tough-love trainer Jillian Michaels has taken film critic Rex Reed to task for likening actress Melissa McCarthy to a hippo, proving that two people don't have to be cut from the same cloth to come together. Maybe Melissa and Jillian can join these other platonic odd couples on an outing or two!

Jillian MichaelsMelissa McCarthyJillian Michaels and Melissa McCarthy

Too bad we can't send veteran film critic Rex Reed to The Biggest Loser Ranch for a day with super-fit Jillian Michaels — we'd love to see her put this loudmouth through the wringer! In his brutal review of the movieIdentity Thief, Rex couldn't resist spewing weight-hate vitriol about the film's plus-sized star, Melissa McCarthy. During his diatribe, he referred to the funny lady as "tractor-sized" and a "female hippo," ultimately accusing Melissa of falling back on "being obese and obnoxious" to gain fame.

Jillian leapt to Melissa's defense, telling ET, "That kind of prejudice is wrong in every possible way. I'm here to say when you do things like that, it's spreading harm and it's hurtful and it's prejudice."

In light of Jill's sweet show of support, we hope she and Melissa totally become BFFs 4 life!

Snoop DoggDavid BeckhamSnoop Dogg and David Beckham

When we say Snoop Dogg — er, Snoop Lion— and David Beckham are both ballers, we don't quite mean it in the same way for these dramatically different guys. Brit David Beckham keeps his ballin' on the field as one of the world's most famous soccer stars. And Snoop? Well, he does his ballin' on the streets, baby.

So you might be shocked to learn these two pop-culture icons go together like gin and juice — they collaborated as recently as Christmas, when Beckham played the Ghost of Christmas Present to the Dogg's "Ebenezer Snoop" in an Adidas cartoon campaign. Word on the street is Snoop is such a fan of Becks, he even lets the soccer stud listen to any new music before the track gets laid.

John MayerRob DyrdekJohn Mayer and Rob Dyrdek

One is a Grammy Award–winning singer/songwriter who makes girls swoon. The other is a professional skateboarder/reality TV star who routinely tempts fate with stupefying stunts such as swimming with sharks and crashing recreational vehicles into a giant foam pit. You might say the two have little or nothing in common.

However, John Mayer and Rob Dyrdek bonded over a prank they pulled on the paparazzi in June of 2009, during which they duped overeager photographers into believing Rob was wasted. Rob's mother failed to find the humor in the shenanigans, so the unlikely pals set out on a quest to prove to her that John wasn't a bad influence on her boy. The result? A hysterical mix of crushed velvet suits, cougar dating and "Rob's Mom"— an original Rob and John production. We can only hope there's more to come from this puzzling pair.

David SpadeHeather LocklearDavid Spade and Heather Locklear

From romping on the beach to jumping private jets together, David Spade and Heather Locklear caused quite a publicity ruckus several years ago when the peculiar pair became inseparable. Was their friendship purely platonic back then? Meh, who knows? It seems pretty clear they aren't dating these days, although sources say they remain friends. Either way, the two cause head-scratching whenever they make a public appearance because she's — well, she's Heather Locklear, and he's no Melrose Place hottie. As it turns out, incredibly attractive people need buddies too, and good-looking or not, being able to make people laugh counts for a lot.

What to teach your kids on Presidents Day

For some kids, Presidents Day simply means a day off of school. Give the day more meaning for them with these age-appropriate lessons.

Easy Presidents Day lessons for kids

Which presidents does Presidents Day really honor?

The federal holiday — Washington's Birthday  — falls on the third Monday of February. It honors George Washington, our nation’s first president, for his birthday on Feb. 22. However, in some states the holiday has also come to honor second president Abraham Lincoln, whose birthday was Feb. 12. And in other states, the holiday honors Thomas Jefferson, our third president, even though his birthday isn’t until April 13, and doesn’t include celebrating Lincoln’s birthday. Yet other states recognize all three on this day.

Each of these presidents has an important legacy in our nation’s history so you can create some fun lessons for kids about any or all of them.

Honesty is the best policy

George Washington could not tell a lie, and as a young boy, admitted to his father that he chopped down his father’s favorite cherry tree. Draw a cherry tree with your child as you discuss the importance of honesty.

Children and lying: Age-appropriate advice >>

Beyond his childhood, Washington was a respected war hero. He spent a great deal of time surveying the wilderness and creating maps for his soldiers.

Advocate for others

Abraham Lincoln is best known for his role in abolishing slavery in the United States. Teach your children the importance of Lincoln’s impact on our country today thanks to this initiative. You can tie in lessons about Martin Luther King, who similarly advocated for African Americans in his day, and teach them why it is important to speak up for those who may not be able to speak up for themselves.

This pop star is using her celebrity status to stop bullying>>

For a fun craft, make tall top hats like Lincoln wore out of construction paper.

Freedom, exploration and trying new things

Thomas Jefferson was known for many things — including penning the Declaration of Independence and organizing the Lewis and Clark Expedition in 1804.

But your children may be more interested in the new foods he introduced to the country — waffles, ice cream and macaroni. He was also the first person in America to grow a tomato, as prior to that tomatoes were believed to be poisonous.

Create a winter garden with kids>>

In honor of Jefferson, try a new food, take your kids out for waffles or ice cream , plant tomato seeds or arrange a fun scavenger hunt and go exploring around your neighborhood.

Other ways to commemorate Presidents Day with your kids:

  • Teach your kids all the presidents’ names in order of their service.
  • Ask your children what they would do first if they became president.
  • Get out some money and talk about the presidents featured on coins and dollar bills.
  • Give your kids a mini history lesson about the significance of Mount Rushmore.

As parents, we’re constantly wondering if our children are old enough to tackle certain milestones. From watching certain movies to staying home alone, it seems we’re always asking, “Is my child old enough to... ?”
Little girl watching movies alone

As parents, we’re constantly wondering if our children are old enough to tackle certain milestones. From watching certain movies to staying home alone, it seems we’re always asking, “Is my child old enough to... ?”

Kid milestone guidelines for parents

When trying to decide if your child is ready to perform a certain task or participate in a particular activity, there are no hard-and-fast rules. Every child is different, but parents can at least use some basic guidelines to help with their decisions.

Appropriate expectations

Sometimes it’s difficult to avoid comparisons when it comes to our children. We want our 2-year-old to be on track with our neighbor’s 2-year-old or our 10-year-old to be on pace with her friends at school, but that’s not always the case. "Too often parents set expectations that children cannot or are not ready to meet and children learn that they are disappointments, failures, incapable," says Bonnie Harris, parenting specialist and director of Connective Parenting. "When a parent expects a child to be ready for an activity based on age alone or based on the parent's experience in childhood, the parent is projecting and missing the mark of emotional readiness."

Specific questions

As our kids travel through different stages of childhood, we want to protect them and allow their independence to flourish at the same time. Harris addresses some common questions parents ask as they watch their kids experience life. Keep these tips in mind the next time you wonder, "Is my child old enough to... "

... watch horror movies or read Twilight books?

Our evolving culture has a way of leaving parents in the dust, so it can be difficult to determine whether or not a child is ready to digest popular books and/or movies. This dilemma is particularly difficult when possibly frightening content is involved.

"Some children are never ready for scary movies."

"Some children are never ready for scary movies," says Harris. "Parents need to observe the child when listening to fairy tales, fantasy stories or watching a step at a time — movies that may have a surprising twist. Scary movies can provoke nightmares and leave long lasting scars on a particularly sensitive child while a different child may not be adversely affected at all."

… empty the dishwasher by themselves?

Great news, Mom! Help is on the way. This is a perfect chore to introduce at a relatively early age. "Children should be ready for this as soon as they can safely reach the cabinets and hold on to dishes tightly," says Harris.

Mother teaching daughter to do the laundry… do their own laundry?

Laundry can be a truly overwhelming task for a mom so feel free to celebrate when your kids are old enough to help. "As soon as they can measure detergent and reach the machines, children can try to tackle this task," says Harris. "My son started at 12, my daughter at 9 or 10. The main criterion is, can the parent let go of wrinkled clothes?"

Find out about 6 chores for kids>>

… use the stove to cook scrambled eggs?

Understandably, parents need to be particularly careful with tasks involving the oven, stove or any type of heat source. Even when a child is old enough to attempt cooking, supervision is a must. "Kids can try this as soon as he can stir the eggs with a long-handled spoon, with a parent holding him and supervising," says Harris. "Alone is quite a different story and depends on the capability of the child to focus and not be distracted. Certainly with supervision, a very responsible 7- or 8-year-old could do this."

Discover cooking 101: 5 lessons every child should learn>>

… walk home from school with a friend?

Kids experience a certain sense of true independence when they are able to walk home from school without Mom or Dad. Parents, on the other hand, can experience a certain sense of dread. "This depends on how far away school is and how busy the streets are," says Harris. "Without needing to cross a street and walking about a mile or so, a very responsible child who is attentive to her surroundings might be able to at about 8 or so . If there is a busy street or highway involved without a street-crossing guard, not until preteen to teen years."

Find out how to raise responsible kids>>

… stay home alone during the day?

Plenty of moms have spent a good chunk of time debating whether or not a child can safely stay home alone while they run to pick up a gallon of milk or get the dry-cleaning. While it’s tempting to scoot off for a bit, some kids are ready for the responsibility while others are not. "A child who can be counted on to remain level-headed, not feel scared to be alone, and follow specified directions — for example, knows not to answer the phone or knows what to do if someone comes to the door — could stay home for up to an hour around 9 or 10," says Harris.

She experimented with dozens of gluten-free flours and finally found one that tastes better and lighter than traditional cupcakes. This means you can enjoy more in one sitting without feeling sick! Flavors range from Mocha Latte to Snickerdoodle to Peanut Butter and Jelly. We're certain once you try Crave, you'll be "craving" more.

Community recap: Haunted family reunion

The study group is in for scares, sex toys and surprise characters when they venture to Pierce's mansion on Halloween.

Community Cast

It's never too early to bust out the scary creatures and slutty costumes. Community had their holidays mixed up this week so instead of a sweet Valentine's Day episode we were treated to a haunted Halloween tale. That's what happens when Community keeps getting postponed.

Operation: Free Pierce

When Pierce traps himself in the panic room of his mansion, the study group is forced to venture into the tacky, cobwebbed home to free Pierce. If only he could remember that pesky security code.

Pierce has been having trouble — well, extra trouble — since his father died and Troy moved out. He hasn't had any visitors, so Jeff considers this to be just another elaborate ploy for attention. But the rest of the group is ready to support the old man who is quickly losing what's left of his mind.

At the mansion, Pierce instructs the group to break into teams to find his little red notebook that has the code in it. Before they go on their scavenger hunt, Pierce adds he also saw the ghost of his dead father just before locking himself in the panic room.

Inside the haunted mansion

As the teams search for the notebook, the house quickly becomes an homage to some of the scariest movies ever made. Ghosts appear in mirrors, human-like creatures try to escape through walls and a shadowy figure stands over Pierce's bed for hours on security footage a la Paranormal Activity.

As scary as all that may be, the truly terrifying part is what the team encounters in the different rooms of the house. Troy and Shirley discover Pierce's S&M room, a.k.a his "special gym." Shirley is nearly on the verge of performing an exorcism, but Troy has no idea what it is. He can't understand why he's not allowed play on the indoor swing. He also thinks all the spiked collars must belong to secret dogs. This leads to Shirley trying to warn him not to let Britta force him into anything wild. But innocent Troy still doesn't get it.

Surprise characters

Meanwhile, Britta has managed to force Jeff into talking about his daddy issues when he suddenly blurts out that he's found his father! He got hold of his number three weeks ago, but has been too afraid to call him. Will a series-long plotline finally get resolved?

When the group finds the code and frees Pierce, he admits it was all just a hoax because he wasn't invited to a Halloween party. The shadowy figure over his bed, however, wasn't planned. Turns out Pierce's brother, Gilbert , has been secretly living in the house since their father's death and looking out for Pierce. In a selfless move, Pierce invites Gilbert to be his roommate.

In the last moments, Jeff sits alone and makes that long-awaited phone call to his father. Dramatic fade to black before the call is answered! Who... will.. play... Jeff's... father?

But all my friends are doing it!

So, here you are again. Your tween is asking to do something with her friends that makes you hesitate. On the one hand, you want to let her have freedom, but on the other, you struggle with just how much. And you certainly don't want to let her do something just because she says every single one of her friends is doing it. So how do you say no without sounding — and feeling — like the bad guy?
Upset tween girl

So, here you are again. Your tween is asking to do something with her friends that makes you hesitate. On the one hand, you want to let her have freedom, but on the other, you struggle with just how much.

The 7 most exhausting words a mom can hear

The conversation always goes something like this:

Your child: Mom, can I go see the midnight showing of Breaking Dawn with my friends?
You: No, you’re 11.
Your child: But… all my friends are doing it!
You:

You certainly don't want to let her do something just because she says every single one of her friends is doing it. So how do you say no without sounding — and feeling — like the bad guy?

It’s time to give you a new response to the seven most exhausting words on the planet.

Start by listening and keeping an open mind

No matter what your tween's request may be — whether she's asking your permission to see an R-rated movie or to go a to mall at night without a chaperone — resist the urge to shut her down immediately. Clinical psychologist Robyne Diller says it's important to make your tween feel heard. "In counseling parents of adolescents, I always advocate for listening to the child and to keep an open mind."

So, should you give your tween your full attention even if the movie she wants to see has nudity and bad language in it? Yes. Find out why she wants to go. Talk to her about how she thinks she's going to feel after seeing the scenes in that movie. Is she sacrificing her own values just so she can hang with "all her friends?" Even when you ultimately tell her "no," you will have had an important discussion with her, one that will hopefully lead to even better communication down the road.

Tween going on 20: From coffee to coifing>>

You can compromise

Even if you're not supportive of what your tween is asking to do, your answer doesn't have to be an unequivocal no. Your tween's request can also be tweaked to resemble a circumstance you are more comfortable with. Robert Nickell, of the DaddyScrubs blog suggests taking a look at the situation to see if compromise is an option. "For example, would you be comfortable having your child go somewhere if parents went along to supervise," offers Nickell.

But if there is no way to compromise , Nickell says to explain to your child that the reason you are saying no is not because you don't trust him, but because it's your responsibility to protect him. Those words really will go a long way with your tween.

Don't go into lecture mode

As parents, it's so easy to fall into the trap of preaching to your kids. And while you may feel what your tween says his friends are planning to do is inappropriate!... Outlandish! And don't forget... Unacceptable!... be careful not to get up on your high horse about it.

Joani Geltman, a clinical social worker, says that what your child wants most is to be understood and not judged. "Most parents, when confronted by this situation go into lecture mode: 'Well I am not other parents, and these are our rules, blah blah blah.' Most teens will have stopped listening at the word, Well."

"In this situation a parent might say: 'I get how disappointed and pissed you are at us. We get how hard it must be for you to see your friends go off and do something we don't feel is safe. We are sorry that this can't work out for you.' No raised voices, no lecturing, just understanding," adds Geltman.

Kate Gosselin's Celebrity Wife Swap: Kids traumatized?

Kate Gosselin's spin on Celebrity Wife Swap means trading her eight in for a singleton! Find out who the reality star is trading lives with, and who alleges the experience left her young brood "traumatized."

Kate Gosselin

Kendra Wilkinson and Kate Gosselin's Wife Swap experience wasn't exactly even. The former reality star not only went from juggling her own eight children to just one, but gained a husband to boot!

Nonetheless, Kendra Wilkinson agreed to try out being the single mother of eight for an upcoming episode of Celebrity Wife Swap, as well as allow the controversial Kate Gosselin to temporarily be mother to her 3-year-old son Hank.

RadarOnline reports the Wife Swap episode has already been filmed, and anti-Kate Gosselin author Robert Hoffman has the inside scoop on how twins Cara and Mady, 12, and sextuplets Aaden, Collin, Joel, Leah, Alexis and Hannah, 8, felt about being left behind.

Kendra Wilkinson joins Mommalogues>>

He alleges "the Gosselin children were scared and very confused, having no idea who their new mom-for-a-week was, or why they were left alone with her to be filmed by strangers."

"I’m not sure how much more psychological damage Kate can do to these poor children, but she sure looks like she’s willing to sink to new depths to get her face back on television," he added.

Kate Gosselin's reaction to coupon canning: No worries! >>

Though she didn't name Robert Hoffman directly, Kate Gosselin did recently share she believes she's the victim of adult bullying. In a blog post for Bullyville, the 37-year-old wrote:

"When my life became very public in 2006 with the airing of our show Jon and Kate Plus 8 on TLC, I was honestly surprised that 'adult bullying' via the Internet existed. I am a positive person by nature and the fact that people, many of them, flocked to the Internet to make ugly hurtful and untrue comments about myself and my family truly shocked me!"

Celebrity Wife Swap premieres on ABC Feb. 26.

Do you believe the Kate Gosselin Wife Swap allegations are true?

Escape from Planet Earth movie review: Help, meteor!

$
0
0
This surprisingly clever intergalactic romp about a family that must work together to save their home planet from humans features the voices of William Shatner, Sarah Jessica Parker, Sofia Vergara and Ricky Gervais. With a groovy soundtrack and neato 3D, the whole family will enjoy this mission out of the Milky Way.

Escape from Planet Earth

4 Stars: Perfect for alien aficionados

Scorch Supernova is a blue-skinned alien astronaut from planet Baab who’s more in love with his fame than the adventure of space travel. He’s excited to go on a mission to the “Dark Planet” — a place so dangerous and mysterious, no one ever returns.

Only Scorch’s nerdy brother Gary at Mission Control is trying to prevent him from embarking on this potentially hazardous journey, but Scorch is undeterred despite the less-than-promising description of the Dark Planet given by a computer called Mr. James Bing .

A cheeky though family-friendly version of HAL, Mr. James Bing says the Dark Planet is the “only known world where evolution is happening in reverse” and its inhabitants “worship money, soup, dental floss and Simon Cowell.” Does this place sound familiar?

Escape from Planet Earth

When Scorch lands at a 7-Eleven near the notorious Area 51 in New Mexico, he’s captured by the nefarious General Shanker . Back home on planet Baab, brother Gary and his son Kip decide Gary should head over to the third rock from the sun and rescue him. Easier said than done.

This movie references just about every other memorable sci-fi movie in existence, but that’s where the fun comes in.

Ricky Gervais as the superior super-computer is hilarious, though after watching his TV show An Idiot Abroad, he’s about the last person I’d want to guide me on an interstellar journey.

Escape from Planet Earth

Star Trek's William Shatner as the head of the alien control program also invokes comedic irony, especially when he reveals it was aliens that created the internet and the iPhone.

Bottom line: Escape from Planet Earth is a joyfully irreverent sci-fi comedy that will make both parents and kids laugh.

Running time is 1 hour, 29 minutes and there are no extra scenes after the credits.

Kim Kardashian's divorce: Is the end finally near?

It's a busy week for Kim Kardashian! She sells her bachelorette pad in Beverly Hills and it looks like her divorce trial will finally begin in late spring.

KimKardashiandivorce

On Friday, after months of stalling by Kris Humphries' lawyers, there finally was some movement on the Kim Kardashian divorce case. Superior Court Judge Stephen Moloney put his foot down and made a firm decision that a trial date should be set and that Humphries' team has had plenty of time to prepare.

That's the good news. The bad news is that the first available trial date is in May, according to TMZ. Kardashian's lawyer, Laura Wasser, has been working hard to get the trial started by next month since her client wants to be divorced before she delivers Kanye West's baby.

However, the trial is taking another twist because one of Humphries' lawyers has left the case citing the usual "irreconcilable differences," thanks to the NBA player's insistence that he annul the marriage versus get a divorce.

Sources told TMZ that Marshall Waller "made it clear to his client... there are NO legal grounds for annulling his marriage to Kim, because there's absolutely NO evidence of fraud."

Remember, this legal wrangling has gone on for over a year and a half for a marriage that lasted only 72 days.

Kim Kardashian's V-Day present is nicer than yours >>

Even though Kardashian can't move on from her marriage just yet, she can move on from her bachelorette pad. A Trulia source confirmed to E! News on Thursday that ownership of her Beverly Hills home was transferred to a new owner this week.

No word on how much the reality star sold it for, but she was asking in the $5 million-range for a home she bought for $3.4 million in 2010.

The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star won't be homeless, though. Kimye are in the midst of gutting a new home in Bel-Air in time for their new arrival in July.

The former home was 9,000 square feet, but that wasn't enough room for the power couple. They're adding another 5,000 square feet so there's room for everyone.

Remember, there are a lot of Kardashians!

LeAnn Rimes hopes to take a bite out of her dentist's wallet

LeAnn Rimes is hoping to take a bite out of her dentist's wallet after she sues him for malpractice.

LeAnnRimesdentallawsuit

For once, LeAnn Rimes isn't making headlines for her ongoing feud with her husband's ex-wife, Brandi Glanville. This time around, the news is about her teeth.

On Thursday, the "Blue" singer filed papers against her dentist, Dr. Duane C. McKay, for his failure to properly perform the necessary dental work over a three-year period.

According to Us Weekly, the malpractice suit claims that his work has affected her "ability to perform as an artist" and that such ability "has been and will continue to be significantly compromised until all re-treatment is complete."

The country singer is seeking monetary damages for "[loss] of earnings and future earning capacity." If that wasn't enough, she also wants compensation for her physical, emotional and psychiatric injuries.

If you follow Rimes' Twitter feed, her ongoing dental saga has been no secret. She tweeted several times over the summer about her dental repair work.

In July, she wrote, "Waiting on the endodontist to meet me and do a nighttime root canal."

In the subsequent days, she tweeted, "O-M-G i got 3 shots in the roof of my mouth & 1 INSANE shot directly into the half dead half ALIVE nerve through the hole he drilled on the backside of my tooth."

Brandi Glanville calls LeAnn Rimes "insane">>

It all sounds extremely painful and it did affect the singer's performance schedule. Rimes had to cancel a few performances in order to heal after her corrective dental surgery.

In total, she had to undergo nine root canals as well as bone grafting, physical therapy and a temporary bridge. The lawsuit claims she will have "permanent cosmetic deficiency."

That certainly bites.

Treat your body well

Focus on your breathing in your yoga class and your food selection, afterward!

The benefits of yoga are established, but if you eat correctly after your workout, you will stretch those benefits even further. Every morning when you get out of bed, you should stretch. Setting the tone for the day, you are setting a precedent of discipline.

Once that routine is established, you won't be able to imagine your days without yoga! Aside from stretching, though, you need to discipline your brain to make healthy food choices.

water with lemon

When you leave your yoga class , it might be tempting to splurge. Your body and mind are so relaxed and feel so great, that large order of fries at a nearby drive-thru could be tempting. But why erase all of the good that you just did to your body by filling it with junk? First things first, you need water and lots of it. Water is essential after any workout and yoga is no exception. Water rehydrates, refuels and replenishes. If you are not a fan of plain water, consider coconut water. Or, another simple solution is to keep lemons, limes and oranges on hand. Squeeze fresh lime, lemon or orange juice in your water for added flavor and vitamin C benefits!

So once you begin to rehydrate, let's think about foods. Healthy foods. Sure, you can splurge from time to time, but eating healthy will just make you feel better all around. What foods are good after your yoga workout? Think healthy. Think fresh. Fresh is best! So keep plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables on hand for healthy living but also for convenient snacking. Other foods to keep are nuts and granola — always a healthy snack and easy to eat on the go. Pack a sandwich bag of these options to have in your bag for immediately following yoga.

Recharge with a quick and easy super food smoothie>>

High protein foods are very important to keep your muscles from being too sore after your yoga workout. Lean proteins like boneless skinless chicken breast or tuna are great, healthy options. You might be surprised where you can find protein.

Surprising foods packed with protein:

  • 2 tablespoons of peanut butter has 8 grams of protein.
  • 1/4 cup of sunflower seeds has 6 grams of protein.
  • 1/4 cup of pumpkin seeds has 8 grams of protein.
  • 1 cup of Very Vanilla Silk soymilk has 6 grams of protein, so not only does it taste delicious, it is very good for you.
  • 1 boiled egg has 6 grams of protein.
  • 1/2 cup of cottage cheese has 15 grams of protein!
  • Another option? Cheese. Hard to believe that something so delicious and decadent can also offer protein! One ounce of light cheddar cheese has 8 grams of protein. So consider an apple and some cheese as a healthy, well-balanced snack after your yoga workout.
  • Greek yogurt has twice the protein as regular yogurt. Plus, it is quite filling. 1 cup of Cabot lowfat Greek yogurt has 22 grams of protein! Drizzle 1 tablespoon of honey over the yogurt or put it in the blender with a frozen banana, 1-1/2 cups of soymilk and enjoy a delicious, filling smoothie!

Yoga is good for you for so many reasons. From helping with your balance to increasing your flexibility, lowering your blood pressure and bettering your posture. Make that list of benefits all the greater by eating right and taking care of yourself, mind, body and heart!

Top 10 reasons to watch The Maccabees on Letterman

David Letterman has The Maccabees performing tonight!

The Maccabees' Orlando Weeks

The Maccabees dropped by The Late Show with David Letterman this week, and their performance airs tonight. I think it's worthy of DVRing, and, in Letterman fashion, here are the top 10 reasons why:

10. Accents. It's superficial but The Maccabees — Orlando Weeks, Hugo White, Felix White, Rupert Jarvis and Sam Doyle — are from Brighton, England, and their accents are glorious.

9. According to fangirl legend, they picked their band name by randomly opening up the Bible and finding a word. I like the spontaneity of that versus spending months trying to come up with something pretentious meaningful.

How punk rock! Dave Letterman drops the F-bomb with guest Tom Cruise>>

8. Their song "Latchmere" is named after a nearby recreation center with an automated wave machine. "Why...?" Why not?

7. They made their own video for their single "About Your Dress." It's pretty good!

6. They were nominated for a Mercury Prize last year. Imagine if the Grammys only gave out one award each year. That's how important the Mercury Prize is in England. The Maccabees' Felix White

5. While they're incredibly hot in the UK, they're still very much under the American radar. In 2009, The Maccabees sold out the 4,000-capacity Brixton Academy. But they play the famed Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn on Saturday , which has a capacity of only 550 people, and the show's still not sold out.

Kristen Stewart gets awkward with Letterman>>

4. It's a good time to fall in love. Tickets for that show are only $24.00 . That's a seriously cheap ticket for an incredibly awesome night of music.

3. They're familiar with the lineup of the Coachella Festival in California. You know all that fuss about the Stone Roses? Guitarist Felix White knows who they are and loves them. In a recent interview with live4ever.uk.com, he said, "They’re one of the great British bands." Bam!

NJ's Gov. Christie beats Letterman to the punchline >>

2. "Toothpaste Kisses." It's just a really good song that showcases Orlando Weeks' smooth, unique voice.

1. Their newest album, Given to the Wild, was off the hizzy. Their sound, a sweet mix of new wave and indie rock, is perfectly represented on the album. With each track, you'll experience the uniqueness that is The Maccabees, but if you listen closely, you can also pick up on influences from Bon Iver, Arcade Fire and, yeah, the Stone Roses.

Check 'em out tonight on Letterman, and — when you fall in love — make sure to buy their album and not rip it off the internet. Album sales help influence tour locations, and I've still not seen them live.

The perks of weekend DVD releases

Imagine, if you will, the love child of Days of Summer and The Breakfast Club, and you'll get just a taste of this week's top DVD release. If that's not up your alley though, don't worry — we've got four more fit for nearly every crowd!

1) The Perks of Being a Wallflower

When I heard Stephen Chbosky was taking his beloved novel to the big screen, I must admit I had my reservations. In text, The Perks of Being a Wallflower was one of the most sincere portrayals of heartache and acceptance I'd ever read and a coming-of-age tale that easily ranks among the top. That being said, its film counterpart demands the same respect and gentle reverence from all audiences. This isn't another vamped-up Hollywood reflection on jocks and cheerleaders; Perks examines the dark corners of adolescence, the light of friendship, romance, redemption and the explorative nature of our younger years — years that, ultimately and infinitely, define our future selves. Join Emma Watson, Logan Lerman and Ezra Miller on this wonderful ride guaranteed to resonate with the sensitive side in all of us.

Rotten Tomatoes: 85% fresh

2) The Sessions

The Sessions is an unbridled autobiographical journey into the depths of love and the undying pursuit of passion from the perspective of a man shackled to his own body. Mark O'Brien is imprisoned in an iron lung at age 38, and he's desperate to make his dream of having sex become a reality. From priests to therapists and everything between, O'Brien writes his way through his tender determination to lose his virginity with the help of a sex surrogate. Helen Hunt, William H. Macy and John Hawkes star.

Rotten Tomatoes: 94% fresh

3) Robot & Frank

Frank Langella, Susan Sarandon, James Marsden and Liv Tyler star in this story about friendship in unexpected places. Watch as Frank befriends a futuristic, fully functional robot voiced by none other than Peter Sarsgaard. The inanimate robot helps give this human a new lease on life.

Rotten Tomatoes: 86% fresh

4) The Man With the Iron Fists

Join Russell Crowe, Lucy Liu and debut director/actor RZA as they fight their way through the warriors and weaponry of feudal China. Action/martial arts fans will get a kick out of this.

Rotten Tomatoes: 50% splat

5) Silent Hill: Revelation

Here's the wildcard for this week. If you couldn't get your loved one to cuddle up for a sentimental session in theaters on Valentine's Day, maybe you can convince him to sit down on the couch for a horror flick. If you play your cards right, you might be able to hide behind him during the scary parts and score a little proximity in the process. Silent Hill: Revelation was a bit of a bust, but you never know what might make your hair stand on end.

Rotten Tomatoes: 6% splat

Lindsay Lohan's film, The Canyons, finds a distributor

Lindsay Lohan received some good news on Friday that her controversial film, The Canyons, will finally receive distribution from IFC Films.

Lindsay LohanLindsay Lohan has had a rough few years from disappointing movies to run-ins with the law. However, the actress received some good news about her film The Canyons.

On Friday, it was officially announced that IFC Films will release the film to North American audiences as a part of a multi-platform strategy. In fact, the film will even get a premiere screening at the Film Society of Lincoln Center in New York City.

The making of the film and the starlet's behavior was the subject of a brutal New York Times article, and the movie struggled with rejections from the Sundance Film Festival and SXSW, so this is a major turn of events.

In a statement on Friday, director Paul Schrader said, "I am delighted our film has found an enthusiastic home at IFC. We envisioned The Canyons as a multi-platform release from the beginning and no company knows that world better than IFC."

The film has been controversial from the start after casting a porn star, James Deen, in the title role of a Hollywood movie producer. Lohan stars as his girlfriend, and the two have some daring and raw sex scenes that reflect their dark relationship.

Kent Jones, director of programming of the New York Film Festival and the moderator of the post-screening discussion at Lincoln Center, seemed quite optimistic about the project.

In Friday's statement, he said, "On one level, The Canyons is a visually and tonally precise, acid-etched horror story of souls wandering through a hyper-materialistic hell, with a fearless and, I think, stunning performance by Lindsay Lohan at its center. On another level, it's an inspiration and an example to us all: it's difficult for me to imagine another filmmaker of Paul Schrader's stature diving into the world of crowd-sourced moviemaking, let alone with such fervor, dedication and rigor."

Schrader is best known for his screenwriting work on films like Taxi Driver and Raging Bull. IFC Films has distributed a number of successful films since 2000, including My Big Fat Greek WeddingTouching the Void; and Lena Dunham's breakout piece, Tiny Furniture.

IFC Films will release The Canyons in early summer.

No word from Lohan just yet, but let's hope this is a fresh start for the actress.

Kyle Chandler is a man of the cloth. Or at least his new character is. The actor's signed on for a Showtime pilot called The Vatican. This will be his first regular TV gig since Friday Night Lights.

Kyle Chandler

Here's a pleasant surprise: Kyle Chandler is heading back to television. It's been two years since he said goodbye to the critically acclaimed Friday Night Lights. During his time away, he's scored plenty of roles on the big screen, but now he's back to his TV roots.

Game of Thrones, Friday Night Lights honored at Television Critics Association Awards>>

According to E!, Chandler has landed the lead role in the Showtime pilot The Vatican. The network announced the big news on Friday.

The Vatican is a thriller that tackles "spirituality, power and politics—set against modern-day political machinations within the Catholic Church."

Chandler will star as Cardinal Thomas Duffy. He's the charismatic yet enigmatic archbishop of New York, whose progressive leanings excite some and alarm others within the hierarchy of the Catholic Church. Religion and politics? We can smell the drama from a mile away!

The pilot will be directed by Ridley Scott, and Showtime president David Nevins is extremely pleased with the cast they've put together.

"Kyle Chandler is one of the most talented and sought-after actors working today," Nevins said in a statement. "With Kyle, Matthew Goode and Sebastian Koch, Ridley and Paul have put together a powerhouse cast to anchor this incredibly timely show."

Meet the hot men of Zero Dark Thirty>>

Chandler is keeping himself busy. He appears in not one, but two of this year's Oscar nominees for Best Picture: Zero Dark Thirty and Argo. That's nothing to sneeze at. He seems to be everyone's go-to guy. The man's been acting professionally for 25 years.

Aquarius, Jan. 20- Feb. 18

Aquarius
aquarius

Now that we are settling into a new year, see what's ahead for your love life — whether you're single or in a relationship. Christopher Renstrom is turning to your Ruling Planets to break down what to expect, what to be wary of and how you can make positive changes.

About you

Jennifer Aniston
Famous Aquarians include Jennifer Aniston, Justin Timberlake and Drew Barrymore.

Aquarians are not the androids that everyone makes them out to be. Yes, you can come across as cerebral, aloof and even tightly wound, but you can get wild and crazy when you want to and party like it's your last night on earth. In the morning, when others are shunning the light and fumbling through their purses for the Vicodin, you will emerge perfectly poised with every hair in place and ready to begin your day. You don't mind the unruliness of people's lives. If anything, your rebellious side embraces it.

What you will not tolerate, however, is people's sloppiness. Anyone who goes out with you needs to understand that you can turn it on and turn it off and that they will need to do the same. Equal parts controlled and kooky, you are a walking, talking contradiction. You are hard to get to know, which makes perfect sense because you have no idea who you are either.

The most airy of the air signs, Aquarians are people pleasers and people movers. You will always put the interests of the many above the interests of you. Yet for all of your selflessness , there's an ego in there somewhere struggling to assert itself. Egos are important because they center us on who we are — just as the gravitational pull of the Sun centers the solar system. If you don't have an ego, then you're lost in space. Aquarians are constantly searching for themselves, and when you find that person who can help you to connect to the true and authentic you, then you will be true to that person forever.

header

You're not into "free love." That's something that got attached to Aquarians in the '60s when the musical Hair came out and everyone was too high to care. You're happiest in a relationship, but gun-shy about marriage. Your biggest worry is losing the person to the assigned role, which is why you prefer to live together. This is often mistaken for commitment-phobia, yet nothing could be further from the truth. Great minds think alike, and you could meet someone who's on the same wavelength in late June or late September 2013.

header

There are big to-dos up ahead as you — or your partner — will be undergoing a change in status.

Your star is on the rise, which means that you will need to be sensitive to outshining your partner.

Then again, it may be your spouse who's coming into his own, which means that it's your turn to be supporting player. You might find yourself a bit bent out of shape by this — especially in November 2013.

header

Other people's concerns will always come before yours, and you may expect your partner to be equally self-sacrificing when it comes to signing on for new causes, appearing at an endless string of dinner parties or adopting your 23rd child from halfway around the world. Remember Mia Farrow? She's an Aquarius. Aquarians are fixated on what other people think, and this drives your need to please and/or rail against the system. Remember that the reason you partnered up in the first place was to have a personal life. Your other half can't do all the personalizing for you. You need to be present in the relationship too.

header

You are not at your best from July 22 thru Aug. 21. This is when you'll be feeling uncertain, short-tempered and like no one can do right by you. Clearly it's not you at your best relationship-wise.

However you will be much more devil-may-care, friendly and inviting in February, from May 20 to June 19, and from Sept. 22 to Oct. 21.

Your love life gets wild and crazy on March 22 and March 28. This is when you will be behaving in ways that are not typical for you — but then again, that might be the point.

header

Be intimate. Aquarians aren't big on showing affection, and sometimes that's all it takes to set the mood and to create the close emotional bond and experience that you're looking for.

Pisces

Now that we are settling into a new year, see what's ahead for your love life — whether you're single or in a relationship. Christopher Renstrom is turning to your Ruling Planets to break down what to expect, what to be wary of and how you can make positive changes.

About you

Carrie Underwood
Famous Pisces include Rihanna, Carrie Underwood and Ke$ha.

You were born under the zodiac sign of unconditional love. That means you are capable of running the full gamut of emotions. You can feel unlimited love, hate, pain and hope like nobody else, and you can inhabit these emotions without judgment. This gives you an extraordinary compassion and empathy. Your ability to see things from other people's perspectives gives you easy access to their heart and soul. You really get where they're coming from. This is why people will entrust you with their confidences, secrets and fantasies.

Your Ruling Planet Neptune is the planet of the collective unconscious in astrology. It stirs the memories and the imaginations of the people you come into contact with. This is why someone will walk up to you in bar and ask if you have ever met before — and mean it. It's also why perfect strangers will begin to share the most intimate details of their lives without you even asking. This gives you a hypnotic hold over people, which can be a lot of fun if you think about it. They will fall under your spell almost immediately. But are they getting to know you? Or have they fallen in love with a figment of their imagination that they have projected onto you?

This can get tricky if you start to alter things about yourself in order to please your lover or mate. Seeing things from their perspective can work against being true to your own viewpoint. Remember the story of the Little Mermaid? Everything went to hell in a handbasket when she gave away her voice for love of the prince. Own your voice, and you will never have to worry about being drowned out by others' ideas and expectations of who and what you should be.

header

You're really coming into your own now that your Ruling Planet Neptune is traveling through Pisces. It will be here for the next 13 years, which means that you are at your most romantically desirable. People want to fall in love with you. You can afford to be picky — and you should be. If you don't like the guy you’re going out with, then toss him over the side because there are plenty of other fish in the sea.

header

You love fantasy, but sometimes you can let yourself get typecast into playing the roles that he wants. Mix it up a little and introduce some scenarios of your own. Not only will you reengage his interest, but you'll be surprised by how quickly he rises to the occasion.

header

Are you looking to marry, relocate or buy a new house? You will want to follow your domestic bliss when Jupiter moves into Cancer — the zodiac sign of hearth and home — on June 25, 2013.

It will be here for a year, which means that things will go your way as long as you invest your energies in nest building. Jupiter in Cancer is also perfect for introducing a new member to your household.

People born under Pisces are psychic magnets for the emotionally crippled. It's like every guy who ever felt abandoned by Dad, used by an ex or unloved by Mom got a text from you that says: "Call me." And they will.

What you need to do is to avoid falling for them hook, line and sinker in the first place. Just keep pressing Delete until you meet someone who can stand on his own two feet.

header

Your best time for love this year will be around your birthday. In fact, your peak days will be Feb. 20, Feb. 28, March 6, and March 10. After that it's June 26, July 17, July 19, and July 20. November is the month when you will have to choose between two possibilities. Aug. 25 through Sept. 16 is your most challenging time of year romantically. Do you remember how difficult the summer of 2012 was? It won't be that bad, but it will be close.

Aries

Aries
Aries

Now that we are settling into a new year, see what's ahead for your love life — whether you're single or in a relationship. Christopher Renstrom is turning to your Ruling Planets to break down what to expect, what to be wary of and how you can make positive changes.

About you

Kristen Stewart
Famous Aries include Lady Gaga, Kristen Stewart and Emma Watson.

It isn't easy being a woman born under Aries because Aries is a man's sign. Now this isn't to say you've got gender-bender issues or bedroom problems. Far from it! What it means is that you approach love the way that a man does.

When you see something you like, you go after it. There's no giggling in the corner with girlfriends, dropping subtle hints or sitting by the phone waiting for him to call. You will walk right up to the guy who caught your eye and ask him out. And more often than not, the guy will say yes. It's rare when you get turned down. And if you do, it's probably because he's already seeing somebody else.

Men are super comfortable around you. You get where they're coming from, and you're easy to hang out with. That's why you've got more men friends than you know what to do with. Girlfriends are dying to know your secret, but the fact of the matter is, you love watching the game on TV and shooting pool, and you can probably kick most guys' a**es at Modern Warfare 3.

The problem is that you can wind up in a bromance if you're not careful. This is when you have to remind the guy that a romantic dinner once in a while wouldn't be such a bad idea. You may say that you're not interested in coaching the guy in how to be a guy, but guess what? You need to. Yes, it will get a little awkward at times, but he will eventually catch on, and with proper training he will become the perfect boyfriend or spouse that you want him to be.

header

Your guilty secret is that you like being single. But single doesn't mean alone. Single means that you can choose whom you want to see and when you want to see him. Some of this is sex driven. You have a healthy appetite, and you're not shy about it. But most of it has to do with the fact that guys get on your nerves if they're around too much. They hog the remote control, smell and get all whiny when they're bored or hungry. Your idea of the perfect relationship is to have a guy on call. He shows up when you're in the mood and makes himself scarce afterwards.

header

You're not looking for a husband. You're looking for a comrade-in-arms. Aries is ruled by Mars, and Mars is the planet of soldiers, firefighters, and cops. You deal with a lot of high-stress situations in your life, and you want to know that your spouse has your back. If you don't actually work with your spouse, then you're probably in the same line of work. You're 100 percent committed to what you do, and you want to be with someone who gets it. You're not into carrying dead weight or pulling anyone's fat out of the fire.

header

The biggest problem you will have in love is that you are better at being a guy than the guy is. You're more aggressive, ambitious and driven. Not a lot of guys are comfortable with this, so you're just going to have to accept that there will be a lot of test-driving until you decide to buy. The worst thing that you can do is to dial down who you are or get involved in relationships where you are propping up the guy's ego. This is always a disaster because you will feel frustrated, held back and like you're not being true to who you are. Any guy who's going to go out with you has to accept you for who you are. But he can't be a wimp either, or you'll walk right on over him.

header

Don't lie there counting the cracks in the ceiling and waiting for it to be over. Give your paramour some helpful tips. He probably needs them. Also, don't be shy about taking the lead. He'll never admit to it, but he likes to be manhandled.

header

Mars' translation of light from March 12 through April 18, 2013, will turn you into a man magnet. Have fun, but don't be reckless or insensitive or there will be hell to pay in late September and October when the stars show that it's not the guys you have to worry about — it's the girlfriends.

TAURUS, APRIL 19-MAY 19

Taurus
Taurus

Now that we are settling into a new year, see what's ahead for your love life — whether you're single or in a relationship. Christopher Renstrom is turning to your Ruling Planets to break down what to expect, what to be wary of and how you can make positive changes.

About you

Megan Fox
Famous Tauruses include Megan Fox, Jessica Alba and Penelope Cruz.

You were built for comfort, not for speed, which is just as well since your Ruling Planet is Venus, named after the Roman goddess of love and beauty. People born under Venus get more hits with a come-hither look than they do by typing up a new profile. People fall in love with you when they meet you in person. You have an appeal that's comfortable, winsome, relaxed and infinitely engaging. But this only works when you meet in person, so no online dating or Match.com for you.

What you want to do is sign up for a cooking class, go to an art history lecture, enroll in a photography workshop, attend an intimate cafe concert or maybe even volunteer at the community garden. These may sound like impossibly random things to do, but Venus is the planet of art, music, gardens and culture. Do anything that is related to these areas of interest, and you will find a like-minded soul — and better yet, it will be a like-minded soul who's higher up on the money chain than you are.

You know how like attracts like? Well, that's the secret to the magic of Venus. Go to a bar, and you wind up with a drunk. Go to a wine tasting, and you will get a connoisseur. Now this doesn't mean that your courtship will be trouble-free, but at least you'll be socializing with a better class of person — and that's always a step in the right direction. You're a Taurus. You want the finer things in life. Let everyone else scour the sales racks searching for castoffs; you need to be strictly top-of-the-line when it comes to love.

header

It won’t be easy finding love with Saturn currently traveling through the zodiac sign of Scorpio.

Saturn puts a cosmic block on all incoming calls, so you can expect a steep uphill climb until December 2014.

Use this time to reexamine what you're looking for in a mate and don't be shy about raising your standards. It's probably something you should have been doing all along.

header

This is a tough time for your relationship, and Saturn in your opposite sign could bring a break up, separation or talk of divorce. If things fall apart during this time, then that's because your relationship was on shaky ground, and you should really move on. However, rough passages can introduce you to strengths that you didn't think your relationship had. It can also bring out sides of your spouse that you had hoped were there all along — and now you'll see that they are.

header

Taurus is all about turf, and sharing is not one of your strong points. Your things are your things, and "ours" is just a word with an invisible "y" in front of it. You may have gotten a bit possessive, overbearing and bossy lately without really knowing it. You need to lighten up and to be more flexible and forgiving. You can't have things on your terms all the time. I mean you can, but it makes for cold company at night.

header

Try making love after a visit to the gym. Your energy level is high, your endorphins are going and you're ready to rock. You tend to be more sensual than sexual, so you need to pump it up a bit in this department. Candlelit dinners are great for getting cozy and romantic, but the only thing you feel like doing after a nice meal is going to bed. And that's bed as in going to sleep. Sorry, but you're not really conscious after 10:00 p.m.

header

The most stressful times of the year for you will be mid-February, mid-May, mid-November and Dec. 21, 2013, when Venus turns retrograde. These are not the times to get your hopes up romantically speaking. If anything, you'll want to schedule trips away or time with friends so you don't even have to think about it. Meanwhile, the solar eclipse on May 9, 2013, can bring some game-changing developments in love. They won't be what you’re looking for, but they will be something that you will enjoy — and what's wrong with that?

Gemini

Gemini
Gemini

Now that we are settling into a new year, see what's ahead for your love life — whether you're single or in a relationship. Christopher Renstrom is turning to your Ruling Planets to break down what to expect, what to be wary of and how you can make positive changes.

About you

Angelina Jolie
Famous Geminis include Johnny Depp, Marilyn Monroe and Angelina Jolie.

Born under the sign of the twins, you are on the lookout for your other half. You want a best friend, a lover, a confidant and a partner in crime all wrapped up into one. Your Ruling Planet is Mercury, planet of the mind, which means that he better be smart or you will pass. You don't suffer fools gladly, nor will you put up with an ignoramus — no matter how chiseled those abdominals might be. OK, maybe you'll put up with him for an hour — but not a moment longer than that. You crave intellectual stimulation!

The surest way to your heart is through the brain. There's nothing sexier than witty repartee or more seductive than a well-timed one-liner. Anyone who goes out with you better be up-to-date on the latest news because you love to discuss and analyze people, politics and fashion malfunctions. You are both highbrow and lowbrow in thinking, and you want your mate to be wired the same way. No snobs or nerdy types for you.

What's important to remember when you are born under Gemini is that you've got that sibling rivalry thing going on with your mate. There's an inborn need to compete. This can appear as one-upmanship, fighting to have the last word, arguing for the sake of argument and playing mind games. It can even take on darker tones like jealousy, which is not really what you want to be feeling about the love of your life. Thankfully, you are committed to working out your differences, and you're a big believer in conversation over confrontation. If there's anyone who practices the talking cure on an hourly basis, it's you. There's no problem so difficult or impassable that a good meeting of the minds can't bridge it.

header

Are you looking to date or hook up? That's the question you need to answer for yourself. If you're into bootie call on demand, then you will find a lot of takers right now. You have Jupiter, the party planet, in your sign through the end of June, which means that you will get a lot of action. But if you're looking to date, then that means dinner and a movie and nothing less. If the best that someone can do is text: “Sup?” then press the Delete button. There are bigger fish in the sea — and ones who know how to spell.

header

It's been hard to tell whether things were on or off until recently, but it looks like they're on for now and through June. This will give you all the time you need to sort out your thoughts and feelings about your future together.

You see what he's getting out of this arrangement, but you're not too clear on what you stand to gain. The deal-maker will be based on home and kids and whether or not you are on the same page with this.

header

Evil Twin syndrome. You have this weird thing about becoming involved with people who are no good for you — and then defending their actions even after discovering that they cheated on you or bilked you for all of your net worth. This mostly happens in business, but it's been known to show up in your love life on occasion. Next time, don't waste time trying to rationalize why the name on his driver's license doesn't match the one on his credit card. Just pull the plug.

header

Think airplane and turn off all cell phones, tablets and other wireless devices before takeoff. This will allow you to focus just on him.

Granted: Everyone comes with some amount of emotional baggage these days, so make sure that his is carry-on. Any heavier than that, and it will have to be checked at the gate.

You want your love life to be fun, not a drag.

header

On May 25, 2013, there will be a lunar eclipse in your partner sign Sagittarius. This will settle any outstanding questions and/or issues you had about your relationship. If things are on shaky ground, then they will fall apart at this time. If not? Then you and your other half are solid like a rock, and you can move on to the next stage of your relationship — which could involve more intimate things like earplugs and night guards.

Cancer
Cancer

Now that we are settling into a new year, see what's ahead for your love life — whether you're single or in a relationship. Christopher Renstrom is turning to your Ruling Planets to break down what to expect, what to be wary of and how you can make positive changes.

About you

Selena Gomez
Famous Cancers include Selena Gomez, Ashley Tisdale and Khloé Kardashian.

Cancers are supposed to be the homebodies of the zodiac. Most astrology books portray you as soccer moms who live to cook and clean and whose sole purpose in life is to be barefoot and pregnant. Thankfully, there's more to you than that. You were born under one of the most creative and resourceful signs of the zodiac. Many writers and painters are Cancers as well as real estate moguls, hoteliers, and reigning box office stars like Tom Cruise and Meryl Streep.

Now it's true that your family means a lot to you and any guy who doesn't score a favorable review with the home team is out. You might continue to see him for a while , but you'll never marry him. That's because family — and more importantly where you come from — means everything to you.

You are extremely private and secretive — although you don't see yourself that way. If anything, you see yourself as too forthcoming with intimate details. Your abiding fear is that you will reveal too much, too quickly and frighten away a prospective lover. You walk around with this feeling that you are infinitely readable, which is why you will work overtime to try to cover your tracks. You don't want to be exposed and vulnerable. But what Cancers forget is that crabs are hardly vulnerable. They come with hard shells and claws that pinch. Like the crab, you approach things in a roundabout way, and you know how to blend into the background. You've gotten good at camouflaging your wants and needs over the years, so you're not as transparent as you think you are. Many people have a hard time reading you — especially your lover or mate.

header

If you're single, then you won't be for very long, which means that you better get clearheaded about what kind of person you want in your life.

No more secret crushes or pining away for people you know you aren't serious about. And the same goes for carrying on with that married man who's never going to leave his wife.

Get it together, Cancer! Jupiter moves into your zodiac sign on June 25, which means that you will be tying the knot and settling down sometime between June 2013 and July 2014 — no ifs, ands or buts.

header

Getting what you wish for. Marcel Proust, a Cancer, wrote an eight-volume series called Remembrance of Things Past. The protagonist longs for women he thinks he can never have, and every time they return his affection, he falls out of love with them and starts longing for another woman whom he thinks he can never have... and so it goes. Thousands of pages are spent chronicling this endless cycle. Don't let this happen to you! There's nothing wrong with being disillusioned with love, though. It may even be the first step toward forming a real, blood-and-guts relationship.

header

You are coming into one of the best times of your life as a couple.

It begins in late June 2013 and will continue for the next 11 years. Really.

header

Don't over-romanticize sex. It's great, but it's not everything. In fact, it's often clumsy and messy, and that can be a lot of fun if you let it be. You don't want to turn lovemaking into something that's so precious and rarified that you'll be too intimidated to do more than just hold hands.

header

Your most unsettling times of year will be March 21 – April 4, 2013; June 26 – July 10, 2013; Sept. 26 – Oct. 10, 2013; and Dec. 26, 2013 – Jan. 8, 2014. These are crucial turning points that won't be easy, but they're good for you nonetheless. Indeed, you will emerge from each one feeling bolder and more confident than you did before. Meanwhile Feb. 18 – March 19, June 20 – July 21, and Oct. 22 – Nov. 20 of this year are periods of good fortune and protection when you need it. June 26, July 17, and Oct. 25, 2013, are especially auspicious.

Now that we are settling into a new year, see what's ahead for your love life — whether you're single or in a relationship. Christopher Renstrom is turning to your Ruling Planets to break down what to expect, what to be wary of and how you can make positive changes.

About you

Jennifer Lawrence
Famous Leos include Jennifer Lawrence, Jennifer Lopez and Demi Lovato.

You are the best thing that ever happened in your man's life. He may never say it out loud, but you both know it's true. You gave him the courage and the faith to be the best that he can be, and you will never stop generating that heat and light. You're a Leo, a child of the Sun.

You have a summertime outlook on life where everything is warm and golden and full of life. You know that even when the Sun sets on a hope or a dream, it will always rise on a new day. No matter dark and heavy life gets, there will always be a tomorrow — and tomorrows come replete with promises, answers and opportunities to get things right the second time around.

It's this inexhaustible optimism that gives you the self-confidence that other people yearn to have in their lives. They want to be bold like you — audacious and unwavering. Now obviously, you have your bouts with insecurity. You're not always up and shining. But you tend to keep those things out of sight and out of mind. Nobody places such a high value on individuality as you do. You believe that each person is unique and different and that there is no such thing as a cookie-cutter cutout person.

It is your mission in life to light the way — to show people that the truth you seek is the truth you find only when you are true to yourself. Your man knows that he is unbeatable as long as you are in his corner, just like male lion knows that he can stretch out in the Sun safe in the knowledge that his lioness is watching his back. And like the lioness that is your zodiac sign's namesake, you can wind up doing all of the work in the relationship if you aren't careful.

header

All eyes turn to you when you enter the room. You just can't help it. You bring the party like the Sun brings the day.

The best time of year to see and to be seen is from March 12 to April 18. This is when there will be so much fiery energy coursing through your horoscope that you will get whatever you set your heart on.

Make certain to set your standards high because this will be as good as it gets for months to come.

header

You will be undergoing some tense times thanks to Saturn in Scorpio. Saturn in Scorpio invites all of the skeletons in the closet to come out and play, which means you that you will be wrestling with some unflattering truths in May and November. It's enough to make you question whether being true to yourself is everything it's cracked up to be. It is, so don't become disheartened. If there was ever a time to stand by your guy — and to insist that he stand by you — then it will be around your birthday.

header

Lesser lights. The problem with being a Leo is that everyone is attracted to you.

This is great as long as you are the focus of positive attention, but you can attract a lot of negative attention too, just as a lit screen attracts every bug in the room at night. This can drain your vitality and spirit if you're not careful — especially in romantic relationships if you allow a needy lover or insecure paramour to feed off your heart light.

You can never be too choosy when it comes to pairing up. There's a reason why you were born with a healthy ego, so use it!

header

The best time for passion is March 12 through April 18, 2013, but the best time for love is July 22 – Aug. 21. This is when you will be treated like the Queen you have always longed to be. Just about anything you want will be yours for the asking, as long as your requests are reasonable. Challenging times will be around the eclipses, of course and that will be on May 9, 2013, and Nov. 3, 2013. The November eclipse could get especially dodgy, so give yourself a week on either side of that date to deal. That is, you'll need the week before to brace yourself and the week afterward to deal with the fallout.

header

You know how much you love to get your ego stroked. It makes you purr like a kitten. Remember to stroke his ego too, and he'll purr back.

Now that we are settling into a new year, see what's ahead for your love life — whether you're single or in a relationship. Christopher Renstrom is turning to your Ruling Planets to break down what to expect, what to be wary of and how you can make positive changes.

About you

Beyonce Knowles is a virgo
Famous Virgos include Beyoncé Knowles, Pink and Adam Sandler.

There’s nothing remotely virginal about you. You love to get physical, and you're not shy about showing off your body and everything it can do. That's because your body is your temple. And when you think of Virgo sisters like Greta Garbo, Sophia Loren and Padma Lakshmi of Top Chef fame, then you know that you were born under the sign of women who love being women and who celebrate their bodies, their sexuality and their brains.

Virgos know how to work it, and Virgos know how to play people. But you don't do this to deceive anyone. You do it because you feel like you have a better grasp of what people want and need than they do. When you look around you, you see a world of waste. It's hard to countenance the waste of time, talent, money and resources. Many people say that they know what's good for them, but you aren't convinced. If they did know better, then they wouldn't be so miserable, fat and in debt. This is why you will help them to pick up after themselves, to garner and manage their resources and to live a better life. You believe in good health — and that means good mental, physical, emotional and spiritual health.

You have always preached the gospel of self-sufficiency. You know from experience that if you give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day, but if you teach him how to fish, then he'll eat forever. This is why teaching, training and coaching are so important to you. You don't practice to make perfect as much as you practice to perfect. Showing people that they are capable by encouraging them to develop their talents and to hone their skills is your way of making the world a better place one person at a time.

header

Virgos are often the "other" woman. And there's nothing morally wrong with this. If anything, society owes mistresses an enormous debt of gratitude as they have kept the institution of marriage up and running for years. Being involved with someone who is otherwise engaged gives you your independence and your psychic elbow room. You get together when you want to get together and not because you have to. If, however, you find yourself involved with men who use you, then you're going to have to take a deeper look at that and rethink a few things.

header

Servitude. Because you were born under the sign of the working girl, you will always feel like you have to do something extra to earn your keep. It's why you are always volunteering to help out in a pinch or to shoulder other people's responsibilities.

You see this as upstanding — and it is. Unfortunately, there are plenty of men out there who would happily exploit this, given half a chance, so you need to be choosier about your customers.

header

You and your other half are opening up to each other in new and mysterious ways, thanks to Neptune taking up residence in Pisces.

Neptune is in Pisces for 12 more years, so if there was ever a time to stop to drink the wine and smell the roses, it would be now.

header

Enhancing your performance is great as long as you go about it organically. Find a way to translate what you learned in the how-to book and/or instructional DVD to the bedroom without making it seem forced or stressful. For instance, Kama Sutra moves are great as long as you introduce them gradually. You don't want to land him in the hospital.

header

Typically Feb. 18 – March 19 is not a good time of year for you, but it could be if you're willing to broaden your horizons romantically and to travel outside of your emotional comfort zone. June 26 – July 20 and Oct. 21 – Nov. 10 are challenging, so don't even try to make plans. They will only fall through. Meanwhile, Sept. 7–13 is a wonderful week for romance.

Libra
Libra

Now that we are settling into a new year, see what's ahead for your love life — whether you're single or in a relationship. Christopher Renstrom is turning to your Ruling Planets to break down what to expect, what to be wary of and how you can make positive changes.

About you

Kim Kardashian is a Libra
Famous Libras include Kim Kardashian, Bella Thorne and Avril Lavigne.

You won't be happy until you are in a relationship. Finding your mate will be the overriding concern of your life until the day when you can successfully say “Mission accomplished!” When you're single, then you will single-mindedly pursue any and all romantic leads with the undeterred focus of a heat-seeking missile. And you won’t stop until you hit your target. Once you make that love connection, then you're good. You can think clearly again, touch base with friends and even get back on board with your career plans for the future.

You're not particularly proud of this side to you, but that's the way you’re wired when you're born under Libra, the zodiac sign of marriage. Consequently, you will also stay in a marriage that has exceeded its expiration date. You will tell yourself that you're being true to your vows, that without you he's nothing, or that you're doing it for the kids or the dog or the houseplants. But the truth is that a loveless union seems better than no union at all. You are that afraid of doing anything alone. And it's this fear that will make you stay put inside your golden cage — that is, until you catch sight of someone who can promise you a bigger and brighter future. Once you make this love connection and become convinced that it will last, then there is no zodiac sign going out the door quicker and filing for divorce faster than a Libra.

The plus side to being born under Venus, named after the Roman goddess of love and beauty, is that you will attract good things into your life through the people who love you. The downside is that it can make you feel beholden to them. Subsequently, you will never unlock your true potential as long as you live under this kind of lock and key.

header

Libra has a reputation for not being able to make up its mind, when in truth you make up your mind very quickly — especially when it comes to love. The reason why you can sound so confused and vacillating when you're dating is that you don't know how to let people down gently. How do you tell someone that he doesn't make enough money, that he's not exactly drop-dead gorgeous or he's just plain boring? Your feeling is that if you hem and haw long enough, he'll eventually get the message and move on.

header

Nobody does "couple" better than you, but if the last two years have taught you anything, it's that you need to introduce some more "me" into your "we."

Don't be afraid to do the things you want to do by yourself. Not only will you feel more excited and fulfilled, but you'll have lots more to share and to talk about at the end of the day.

header

Handing the reins of your relationship over to your lover or spouse and then blaming him for not letting you be you. You need to remember that he is neither the object of — nor the obstacle to — your happiness. He is your partner, and healthy, functional partnerships are based on equality. You can't be equal if you don't bring the totality of who you are to the table. Do that and let him do the same, and you will have the kind of marriage that really will last forever.

header

Tell him what turns you on. Or better yet, show him. Libras tend to say, “I don't know. What do you like?” a lot, and this can put the onus on the lover to come up with something fresh and lively.

That’s OK if you trust that he's really going to be that imaginative, but it can become paint-by-numbers pretty quickly if you don't lend a hand. Be more forthcoming, and he will, too.

Mars' translation of light from March 12 to April 18, 2013, is going to be pretty challenging because it will be taking place in your opposite sign of Aries. This will bring many conflicts, fights and ruptures. However, it can also stir the pot a bit and get you to be more bold and reckless — and there's nothing wrong with that. Meanwhile, Feb. 26 – March 6, June 3–7 and Sept. 3–10 are absolutely wonderful.

Now that we are settling into a new year, see what's ahead for your love life — whether you're single or in a relationship. Christopher Renstrom is turning to your Ruling Planets to break down what to expect, what to be wary of and how you can make positive changes.

About you

Katy Perry
Famous Scorpios include Emma Stone, Katy Perry and Carly Rae Jepsen.

To you, sex is something sacred; it's not something you do between tweets. There are far too many people having sex these days who shouldn't be. They don't know what they're doing or where they're going, and they're a danger to themselves and to everyone else.

But that's not your problem. When you're born under Scorpio, the zodiac sign of sex, then you know what to do — and you have no problem bringing your man up to speed if that's what it takes. Your problem is with the exchange of emotional fluids.

Scorpio is a water sign, and water is the element that rules over our inner life in astrology. You can't help but become personally involved with someone and deeply attached. In fact, you will do everything in your power not to allow that to happen, because when you fall for someone, you really fall for that person in the most naked and needy of ways. This self-imposed detachment can send the message that you aren't really interested and that you are always looking for something else . This back-and-forth, come-hither then get-lost push and pull can create a lot of unnecessary grief and aggravation. But then again, this can be an enormous turn-on for you because you like to mix a little agony with your ecstasy.

This keeps things from going soft and falling flat in your relationship. You never want your partner to take things for granted in your relationship because you never will. Which gets back to sex as a sacrament. Now, this doesn't mean that you expect to shake heaven and earth every time you get together — although it doesn't hurt to try. What it means is that you regard sex as a living part of your relationship. It's something that you will always make time for and not something that you would ever do by rote.

Scorpio is associated with sex in most people's minds, which is why men often adopt a cheesy tone after they find out what your Sun sign is.

Thankfully, you were born with that famous stinger, and all it takes is one glance to put guys in their place. But being wired for sex doesn't make you easy or promiscuous. In fact, you're a connoisseur when it comes to lovemaking, and you can be a tad picky.

Remember that you're better at this than most people, so it will be up to you to make your partner feel comfortable and reassured.

header

You're undergoing a bit of an identity crisis with Saturn traveling through your sign. Whoever you were six months ago isn't really who you are today, and you don't see this lightening up any time soon. And this is all right as long as you don't allow it to become some kind of dirty secret. Scorpios never want to be emotionally naked — which means that you never want be seen as the one who needs the other one more or who loves too much. But Saturn in your sign is asking you to get naked and to reveal those parts of you that you keep under wraps. Rather than drive your partner away, it will create the most intimate bond of all.

Acting like you don't care. Do this long enough, and people will believe you.

You love more deeply and live more intensely than most people, and you should never try to cover that up.

Be who you are, and you will attract people who get what you're about. Hide it, and you will wind up with a lot of people who have no idea of what they are getting into. This would be a waste of time for them and for you.

There are a lot of challenging times for you this year, but that's not bad because you're the kind of person who comes to life in a crisis. You don't manage crises; you grow and evolve as a result of them. Jan. 30, April 28, July 27 and Nov. 6 will be red-flag days for you. You may also want to circle March 31, May 20, July 1, Oct. 1 and Nov. 1 on your calendar. Grand trines in water in late February and March, late June and July, as well as late October and November show that you will emerge from these trials in fine form. In fact, it could even be argued that you will be better off because of them.

Now that we are settling into a new year, see what's ahead for your love life — whether you're single or in a relationship. Christopher Renstrom is turning to your Ruling Planets to break down what to expect, what to be wary of and how you can make positive changes.

About you

Nicki Minaj
Famous Sagittarians include Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift and Britney Spears.

You were born under the sign of the centaur — a mythological creature that was half human, half horse and a killer shot with a bow and arrow. This makes you sporty, active and focused on hitting the bull's-eye when it comes to love. You have a great passion for the outdoors and for travel. Indeed, "anywhere but here" is your personal motto because you believe that the good things in life are waiting for you somewhere else. This gives you your restless energy as well as your love of adventure and exploration.

Any man who wants to get together with you is going to have to race to keep up, because you're always galloping off in some new and exciting direction. You don't do well with feeling fenced in, which is why you will avoid making any serious long-term commitment for as long as you can. Freedom is very important to you, but you must decide what kind of freedom you want exactly. Is it freedom from or freedom to do? Freedom from is escapist, and this is where Sagittarian women get their reputation for bolting for the exits. Sagittarius is the sign of runaway brides. Just ask Sagittarian Britney Spears. Freedom to do, however, requires mastery over your life wherein you take the reins and consciously decide where you want to invest your energy and your efforts.

The mix of horse and human shows that you can be Party Girl one moment and deeply philosophical the next. You like to horse around, but you also come with a very powerful spiritual side — and it's a spirit that won't be broken.

You're looking, but are you finding? That will be the pressing question in April 2013 when there's a surge of fiery energy coursing through your horoscope. Fire energy shows you falling in love with greener pastures — which is great for travel but not so good for romance. Especially since you have this problem with long-distance relationships. When you go looking for your heart's desire in late June, try sticking close to home. You might surprise yourself.

header

You've had more than your fair share of ups and downs since 2011. In fact, there seems to be some kind of emotional hurdle that invariably appears like clockwork every June and December.

January through March of 2013 will be particularly stressful, but if you can make it to June 19, 2013, then you will work out your differences, your bond will be solid and nothing will be able to rend it asunder.

header

The primary difficulty that Sagittarians have in relationships is that you tend to spend a lot of money — yours and your partner's. This is OK if you're well-to-do, but it can become an enormous source of tension if you're not — especially if you take a "So what?" attitude. Nobody's trying to spoil your fun, but your lover or spouse doesn't really want to play bean counter either. Take responsibility for your spending habits, and you won't have to sit through the finger-pointing that can poison relationships, especially during these challenging economic times.

header

Your most challenging times for love will be when the Sun is traveling through the zodiac sign of Gemini, which is May 20 through June 19.

Your best times for romance are March 20 – April 18, July 22 – Aug. 21 and Nov. 21 – Dec. 20.

The best time for going saying yes or tying the knot will be Sept. 7–13.

Make sure that your idea of sexy is the same as your partner's. Sometimes Sagittarians tend to play at being sexy rather than just be sexy. Trust in your sex appeal. It's more seductive than you know.

Now that we are settling into a new year, see what's ahead for your love life — whether you're single or in a relationship. Christopher Renstrom is turning to your Ruling Planets to break down what to expect, what to be wary of and how you can make positive changes.

About you

Kate Middleton
Famous Capricorns include Michelle Obama, Kate MIddleton and Betty White.

You have always been the designated adult in a relationship. Even in childhood, you were taking on the parental role as you stepped in for an absent father or lent moral support to your struggling mother. You know what it's like to carry the weight of the world on your shoulders, and you wear it well. Others may groan under the burden, but you make it look easy. It's second nature to you.

Yet the difficulty with being the designated adult in the relationship is that you tend to attract overgrown children. This might have been OK when you were younger — when the guys were sullen, misunderstood and hot. But it can get old with the passage of time as you watch their income levels drop while yours begins to climb.

You should never have to apologize for your ambition. Nor should you have to feel guilty about being successful. Capricorn women are always being raked over the coals for being driven, disciplined and setting their sights on the dollar sign. But why shouldn't you? You're lucky to be living at a time when kicking a** as you scale the career ladder is a praiseworthy trait in women. However, what's also changed with the times are the guys, and a lot of guys know a good thing when they see it — which is a hardworking, upwardly mobile woman. And this is where your natural tendency to take on the burden of responsibility can work against you. If you don't want to turn into someone's Sugar Mama, then you need to figure out how you want the money to work in your relationship. Your partner doesn't have to make as much as you, but he does have to pull his own weight.

header

If you're single right now, then it's not because you want to be. The past two years taught you some pretty powerful lessons about you and relationships, and now that you've done your emotional homework, you're ready to give love another shot. Stop saying you've been burned and lead with your best foot forward. You could go from dating to mating as soon as late June 2013.

header

You have been through some rocky times with family, and being there for others has taught you to be there for your spouse and vice versa.

Crises can make or break a union, and it looks like the recent rough passages have brought you two closer together in ways you never dreamed of. Life won't always be this heavy and intense. You can look for the gray skies to clear by July 17.

header

You're never going to find a guy who's better off than you financially because you're too much of a control freak to give up that kind of power in a relationship. You feel most comfortable when you're making as much than your mate. This means accepting that your paramour probably won't be the big breadwinner — at least at first. Use the time that you're dating to see how he deals with money. It will tell you a lot about what he's like underneath.

header

Make time for lovemaking. Yes, you have a crammed work schedule, but everyone's got to eat at some point.

And the same is true for sex. Work it into your afternoon routine , and you'll be surprised by how zippy you feel afterward. It's better than a shot of espresso!

header

Your most challenging times for love will be Feb. 6–13, April 18–25, June 28 – July 6 and Aug. 18–25. And it's not like you are fighting or anything; it's more like one of you is away or traveling. Your best times for love are April 15–24, July 23–31 and Nov. 5–15. You're positively irresistible!
