Joe and Tina Simpson are calling it quits after a whopping 34 years of marriage, the couple announced Wednesday.
Rumors swirled that Jessica Simpson's parents were on the outs when they placed their Los Angeles mansion — the location of Ashlee Simpson's shotgun wedding — on the market in September for $4.4 million. Now those rumors have been confirmed.
"It is an amicable split and there is no third party involved," a rep for the couple confirmed. "Any other related allegations are completely false. The family appreciates your respect for their privacy at this time."
What related allegations would those be? Oh, just that little rumor that Joe is a closet case with a 20-year-old boyfriend on the side.
According to The National Enquirer, Joe told the family his dark secret two months ago — shortly before Tina filed for divorce.

"Joe got the family together about two months ago and came out of the closet," a source told the Enquirer. "He told them that he'd tried to continue in his marriage to Tina, but he couldn't go on any longer and deny the fact that he had these feelings for men."
The source also pointed to Joe's August DUI arrest as further proof his life was falling apart and he couldn't keep his secret much longer.
"The police report stated that there was someone else in the car with Joe," another family insider told the Enquirer. "Some reports have stated it was Tina, but now the belief is that it may well have been a boyfriend."
Joe, a former Baptist minister and youth pastor, wed Tina in 1977.
