Ed Sheeran is apparently over the U.K. He's looking for a new place to call home, and he thinks he's found it: New Zealand.

Sheeran has always been pretty open about loving New Zealand. He says his favorite city on Earth is Wellington, and he's actually officially applied for citizenship so he can be a real Kiwi. And who can blame him? I mean, have you even seen Lord of the Rings? The place is gorgeous, and trust, it's like 1,000 times better in real life than it is in the movies.
But gaining citizenship in a new country the old-fashioned way takes a pretty considerable amount of time, and Sheeran appears to be getting impatient. Maybe he can use his fame to nudge things along?
In a video aired by a New Zealand radio station to promote Sheeran's upcoming shows in the country, he has one request for the new Kiwi prime minister, Jacinda Ardern.
"Hey, New Zealand! I can't wait to see you very soon. I'm not yet a citizen of New Zealand, but I'm working on it. Hook me up, prime minister, please," Sheeran says in the video.

And Ardern actually recorded a response. From her parliamentary office, she answered in her own video, also aired by the same station. In it, she asks Sheeran a few important questions to prove whether he has what it takes to be a New Zealander.

"Do you like pineapple lumps? Do you know what they are?"
"Are you willing to wear jandals in inappropriate situations?" "Do you know what jandals are?"
Pineapple lumps are a chocolate candy with gooey pineapple centers that many Kiwis keep in their freezers. And "jandals" is just the local word for flip-flops, which Kiwis like to wear with everything from shorts to suits.
