The ads are scheduled to begin in September running on both TV and the internet. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the commercials were shot in the Austin, Texas area where McConaughey makes his home with wife Camila Alves and their three kids.

The director was Nicolas Winding Refn, who is well known for the artsy indie film Drive, which starred Ryan Gosling and Carey Mulligan in 2011.

The ads target the current launch of Lincoln's MKC crossover vehicle. The brand is trying to create a sexier image for their cars after ending a campaign with previous spokesperson John Slattery of Mad Men.

In a statement on Thursday, McConaughey said, "It was clear from the start they appreciated me as an individual first and foremost, and I would be able to be myself in this collaboration. Lincoln is an iconic, American brand and I like where they are heading with their transformation. I had the chance to drive the new MKC around Texas and I think they're doing a good job."

Lincoln also noted in the statement that the Texas-based actor starred in the 2011 film The Lincoln Lawyer, about a Los Angeles lawyer who works out of the back of his Lincoln Town Car.

McConaughey isn't the only A-lister to be promoting cars. Jon Hamm narrates commercials for Mercedes, Michael Pitt stars in Gus Van Sant-directed ads for BMW and Damian Lewis and Shannyn Sossamon are in Ridley Scott's recent campaign for Jaguar.

Justin Bieber shaves off his teeny mustache in clip (VIDEO)

The '"Baby" hit maker took to Instagram on Wednesday to share a video of himself shaving off his tiny, straggly mustache.

Justin Bieber avoids jail time in Miami Beach case >>

The pop sensation starts off his video, which he captioned "Beard game strong lol," by asking a friend if he should do it or not. When the friend agrees that he should he then examines his facial hair in the mirror, lathers his upper lip with shaving cream and whispers, "R.I.P., 'stache!"

Once the shaving cream is on his face, Bieber asks his pal again, "Is this how you do it?" to which his friend responds by saying, "I think that's how you do it."

Um... seems like the Biebs has not shaved before, and given his barely-there facial hair, and the fact that it never seems to grow, it's actually rather likely.

The Biebs then gets started on removing his facial hair with his battery-powered razor, and can be heard saying, "Here I go!"

So the day has finally come for the Biebs to get rid of his facial hair (not that the before and after is all that different) and his fans are going crazy for the video.

The singer then posted another shot on Instagram of his newly shaved face with the caption, "Ur boy got rid of his stash."

Post-Billy Bob Thornton, Angelina Jolie was on the prowl

The Daily Mail obtained excerpts from his new memoir where he dished about his encounter with Angelina Jolie at the swanky L'Ermitage Hotel in Beverly Hills. He claims that in 2002, after her split with husband Billy Bob Thornton, she was on the prowl.

Angelina Jolie's Maleficent heels could be yours >>

He wrote, "I said, 'What's up, baby?' And she said with a wink, 'I'm trying to find this guy I kind of know because I'm really horny right now.'"

O'Brien had interviewed The Changeling star several times before, so they had a familiarity with each other. He said in the book, "I joked that she had my number and we laughed."

She wasn't the only family member he had a run-in with. That same year, the entertainment reporter interviewed Jolie's estranged dad, Jon Voight, on Access Hollywood. At the time, the actor was claiming that his daughter had "serious mental problems."

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt share handwritten love notes >>

O'Brien alleges that he met with the star for coffee later where he asked for his help in reconciling with Jolie.

O'Brien wrote that Voight said, "I want to talk to you about my daughter. I'm brokenhearted. That's the reason I'm here. I feel I can trust you as a journalist."

The author added his two cents on the way Voight went about it. "If Voight felt that he was going to win his daughter back by this TV confessional, he was sadly mistaken."

The two eventually went on to reconcile without the host's help. There's no word on what father and daughter think about O'Brien's tale, but it's definitely going to be a hot read.

An apple a day is easy when they're actually adorable cookies

$

The best part about these adorable little apples is that you don't need to be Martha Stewart to make them. Just grab a package of cookie dough, some food coloring, candy and pretzels, and you've got adorable apple look-alike treats.

Mini apple bite cookies

Seriously, it's that easy. Just pour the cookie mix, softened butter and egg into a bowl. Use those muscular arms you've been shaping in barre, and stir it up until a soft dough forms.

Mini apple bite cookies

Then you play. Squirt as much of the red food dye as you like to get a nice red color. Then you mix it all up. After that, you roll the dough into small, little, itty-bitty pieces. Now, this next part is totally optional, but I decided to add some sparkle to these apples by dipping the small dough balls into red sprinkles. You can skip it, but I think it adds a fun pizzazz.

Mini apple bite cookies

After they glitter, you plop them into a mini muffin pan, and bake away! Now, don't get discouraged if they sink in the middle a little — that can totally be fixed.

Mini apple bite cookies

If yours sink, simply mix up a foolproof buttercream, add some red food dye and sprinkles and then stick a bit into the "sinking" part of the cookie. You'll never notice.

Mini apple bite cookies

Once you're done with that, you add a little pretzel stem to the middle and cut some leaf shapes from the Sour Patch gummies. And then, voilà.

Mini apple bite cookies

You have apples that'll totally make you and your kid the teacher's pet.

Mini apple cookie recipe

Adapted from Living Locurto

Yields 32

Ingredients:

  • 1 package sugar cookie dough
  • 1 egg, at room temperature
  • 1 stick unsalted butter
  • Red food dye
  • Red glitter or sprinkles
  • Pretzel rods
  • Green Sour Patch gummies
  • Nonstick cooking spray
  • Vanilla buttercream frosting

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a mini muffin pan with nonstick cooking spray. Pour the sprinkles into a shallow bowl.
  2. Into another bowl, pour the sugar cookie dough, and then add the softened butter and egg. Stir to combine until a soft dough forms. Add in a few drops of red food dye, and stir until you get a red color.
  3. Pull apart small pieces of dough, and roll them into the sprinkles. Place the balls into the greased muffin tin. Bake for about 18 minutes. Let the cookies cool in the pan, and then move them to a wire cooling rack to cool completely.
  4. Stir red food dye into the buttercream. Add a dab of frosting into the centers of the cookies. Break the pretzel rods in half, and stick 1/2 into the top of the frosting (to make the stem of the apple). Cut small leaves out of the green candies, and attach them to the pretzel rod (I did this by adding some frosting to the cut side).
  5. Serve immediately, or chill.

Meet The Newest Human-Barbie

Mamma mia! Lolita Richi's mom is one laid-back cookie. This teenager, who spends a ridiculous amount of time, effort, energy and, no doubt, dollars in her quest to look like the best version of a human Barbie doll, is getting loads of support from the place you'd least expect: her mother. Richi's own "Mommy Dearest" says she's proud of her daughter's mission, and she herself is actually really involved in it, taking all the photos that have made Richi something of an internet phenomenon.

16-year-old human Barbie Lolita Richi

Richi claims she has had no plastic surgery. That could be true, but I find it highly suspect. If she hasn't had some sort of cosmetic work done, then I'd like to find out where she buys her bras and corsets she uses to make her waist so teeny-tiny. She does admit that she's had a little help from wigs and contacts, but that's it. Whatever she's doing, it's working — it's also deeply strange.

Beef jerky and other foods that decided to become potato chips

Beef chips | Sheknows.com

If beefy goodness isn't your thing, then the company has another product called Chollives — potato crisps containing real green olives.

Choolives | Sheknows.com

It seems like chips that aren't just made with potatoes are popping up everywhere these days (cricket chips, anyone?). Would you try any of these crazy crisps?

Shrimp chips

Shrimp chips | Sheknows.com

A snack time staple in Asian grocery stores, shrimp chips are perfect for when you're craving something a little fishy but can't afford the surf and turf dinner you really want. Slap on a lobster bib, open a bag of these crispy crustaceans, and call it a day (but don't forget a breath mint when you're done).

Pepperoni chips

Pepperoni chips | Sheknows.com

If you're the type who loves the crispy pepperoni on top of pizza (who isn't that type?), then pepperoni chips might be the potato chip alternative for you. Pepperoni is baked until much of the grease is rendered out, leaving a crisp circle of cured, spiced, meaty goodness behind. Mangia!

Harvest Snaps Snapea Crisps

Harvest Snaps Snapea Crisps | Sheknows.com

They may be vegetables, but these crunchy green pea crisps have a legitimate snackability factor — the wasabi ranch flavor makes it seem like you're doing some hard-core junk-food damage, but since they're made of green veggies, you can feel better about chowing down.

Durian chips

Durian chips | Sheknows.com

Durian is most well-known for its raunchy smell, but that doesn't stop its fans from seeking it out at every opportunity. According to the manufacturer's website, "Our unique cooking process gives Golden Durian less distinct smell yet full delicious flavor." So if you're OK with the fact that these still have some distinct smell (spoiler alert: I'm not), then get ready to snack.

Parmesan chips

Parmesan chips | Sheknows.com

Perhaps one of the greatest food inventions of all time, Parmesan chips are made from melted cheese and nothing else. They're salty, umami, crispy discs of joy that could school a plain potato chip any day of the week. Put down the Lay's, pick up some Parm, and get ready for a snacking experience you won't forget.

Close your eyes as you enjoy this refreshing slushie cocktail. You just might think you're on the Italian Riviera.

Cantaloupe, mint and Campari slushie

Campari is rosy-colored and made using fruit and herbs. It has a slightly bitter flavor that not everyone expects at first sip. But it's easy to enjoy Campari in this fun form. The added soda gives it some fizz and a touch of sweetness.

Summer may be on its way out, but it's not over yet. Chill a little while longer with an Italian-inspired cocktail, perfect for the summer season.

Cantaloupe, mint and Campari slushie recipe

Serves 4

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups cubed cantaloupe, plus a few extra for garnish
  • 1/2 cup Campari

  • 24 ounces lemon-lime soda, divided

Directions:

  1. To a blender, add the cantaloupe, Campari, honey, mint and ice cubes.
  2. Blend until the ice is broken down very small to the consistency you like.
  3. Stir, and divide the mixture among four 8-ounce glasses.
  4. Pour the soda into the glasses over the mixture, to the top.
  5. Garnish with extra mint and cantaloupe, and serve immediately.

The Vampire Diaries' Season 6 trailer is a real tearjerker

Everyone, including Damon (ghost Damon?) is telling Elena (Nina Dobrev) to move on from the events that transpired during the dramatic Season 5 finale.

WARNING: Spoilers ahead! Do not continue reading unless you want to know what's in store for our favorite Vampire Diaries characters.

POLL: Should The Vampire Diaries' Kol and Finn return to The Originals? >>

As you'll recall, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Bonnie both died at the end of the last season. In the last scene of Season 5, we see the two of them hold hands as they accept their fate when The Other Side imploded. We're still hoping Bonnie's grandma comes through on her promise that she took care of some things before moving on. And we're hoping "some things" means a loophole for Damon and Bonnie.

Somerhalder did, in fact, post a picture of himself on Instagram recently as a bloodied and vamped out Damon.

Ian Somerhalder Instagram photo

Ian Somerhalder Instagram photo

He captioned the photo, "He's back! #DamonSalvatore," which we're taking as a good sign that Damon will be up to his old tricks and back in the real world soon enough.

Plus, with Alaric (Matt Davis) and Enzo (Michael Malarkey) both returning for Season 6, where would those bromances be without Damon?

Season 6 will pick up sometime after we left off last season. The gang has been forced outside of Mystic Falls due to the "no magic" rule over the city.

Hiss all you want: Caroline & Klaus' love is eternal >>

It looks like Elena, in her grief, will be embracing her vampire self. We just hope she doesn't turn off her emotions. Been there, done that, and it was exhausting.

We don't think that's the case. Executive producer Julie Plec told The Hollywood Reporter, "The theme of the season is everybody gets to start over. That's what we're going to do." She said Season 6 aims to "boil it back down to the beginning" in a "beautiful and organic reset."

Could this possibly — amazingly — mean Elena could become human again?

Snarky cartoon brings awareness to street harassment of women

$

0

A case in point happened recently when a man defended a group of women who were being harassed. The 39-year-old saw a black Nissan pull up next to the women and start harassing them, calling out from the car, as men do every day on every street in America.

What happened next proves all too well that the catcalls aren't about sexy time or complimenting a woman's beauty. It's an act of aggression. The men shouting from the car were already so close to violence that the mundane "Watch what you're saying" comment prompted one of the harassers to get out and attack the Good Samaritan, putting him in the hospital.

Man beaten protecting women being cat called

Man beaten protecting women being cat called

This is a day-to-day way of life for a shocking number of women.

"Street harassment is a global problem that impacts most women and some men," according to expert Holly Kearl." In a recent nationally representative survey in the U.S., 65 percent of women and 25 percent of men had experienced street harassment."

Kearl adds that 23 percent of those women were sexually touched by a stranger and 9 percent were forced to do something sexual.

Women understand this and have learned to adapt by adopting different ways to cope with the harassment. Some ignore it and walk a little faster. Some wear headphones or pretend to talk on the phone. Some change their routes to avoid the men who regularly tell them to “Smile, gorgeous.” As if it was a woman's job while schlepping to work to provide the perfect upturned lips to brighten the day of the guy jack hammering the street. But that's about as tame as it gets. Some of the victims of harassment are just little girls.

The clever folks over at Robot Hugs came up with this brilliant cartoon to help us all get a better handle on what street harassment really is and what we can do about it. It addresses the understandable doubts so many men have that men yelling a cheeky compliment from a car is such a big deal, or that it even happens all that often. Remember, a woman with a man is already someone else's property. No reason to try and claim what already belongs to someone else.

“This kind of harassment is based on the problematic idea that public spaces are actually men's spaces — that women passing through them are subject to the desires, needs, and opinions of the surrounding men,” the cartoon explains.

The simple drawings and clear language help explain street harassment in a way that's neither angry nor overly accusatory. Hopefully, this cartoon can start a dialogue between men and women and help us all deal with street harassment as the aggressive act it is.

"I love that cartoon!" Kearl adds. The next time you experience street harassment, she has a few tips on how to deal.

"I'd suggest to harassed persons to talk about what they experienced," she says. "It will likely help them feel better, and it will raise awareness about what's happened. If they want to do something in the moment, it seems doing something that surprises the harasser is the least likely to escalate the situation. For example, saying 'Don't harass women', I usually use this, or ask the harasser to repeat him or herself. Even loudly announcing what the harasser said or did, or asking the harasser if that's how they want their loved ones spoken to on the streets."

Bride takes wedding to father

Bride takes wedding to father

This weekend, a Michigan bride switched up her wedding venue from her church to a nursing home. The reason? So that her father, who has advanced-stage Alzheimer's disease, could walk her down the aisle.

Need a minute to collect yourself? So did we.

"My dad has been my hero my entire life and I know that if he was well, he would be at my wedding front and center... and I thought, 'Why not move it there and it would be more of a special event?'" the bride explained.

Mirriam and Mark Davis were married at the Ohio Alzheimer's care center where Mirriam's dad, Bernard Reeves, gave her away, beaming as they walked arm in arm.

According to Mirriam's mother, although Reeves may not have understood everything that was going on at the event, the fact that he got to witness his daughter's wedding and be a part of it, was extremely meaningful for everyone involved.

As for the Toledo care center, they were thrilled to host the event.

Talk about a bride who had her priorities straight, and let go of her 'dream wedding,' in favor of one that she won't ever forget.

Check out the photos from the wedding, and feel your heart grow three sizes.

However, VH1 failed to blur out a specific shot that clearly displayed her naked crotch area on air, and Nizewitz has decided to sue the network for their fumble. Because of her "severe emotional distress," and "mental anguish," the model wants VH1 to pay her $10 million.

"I felt lied to, manipulated and used. I was horrified," Nizewitz told the New York Post. "I immediately started getting text messages. Everyone saw it."

The shot in question took place on the third episode of the reality series when she and a potential boyfriend were getting frisky on a beach, rolling around wrestling in the nude. As they frolicked in the sand with their naked backsides towards the camera, her lower parts could easily be seen and were not blurred out by producers.

After the blunder made news all over once the show aired, shocked viewers commented on the matter all over social media. As a result, Nizewitz claims, the male contestant she was on the sand with never contacted her again.

She feels the network also cost her a potential relationship with him in addition to the humiliation she already suffered from the naked snafu.

"He never called me again after the show aired," she told the Post. "I would have hoped we could have had a long-term relationship."

Family Guy heads to Springfield to meet The Simpsons >>

For fans that are looking for specific episodes, Uproxx.com listed every single episode with the title, date and time of The Simpsons. It gives viewers the opportunity to set the DVR instead of staying up through the entire marathon trying to catch their favorite show.

The Simpsons Movie will also be shown on FXX toward the end of the marathon. Mark your calendar for Friday, Aug. 29 at 6/5c. The network is staying true to the chronological run of the show by airing the movie between Seasons 18 and 19 just like it did back in 2007.

The marathon does have a purpose. FXX is celebrating the acquisition of syndication rights to the animated show. They bought the rights last year, a move they called in the press release the "biggest off-network deal ever." It was rumored to have cost the network an estimated $1 million an episode.

Fox will premiere the 26th season beginning Sept. 28. Fans will have to face the death of a major character in the episode "A Clown in the Dumps." Could it be the show's beloved character Krusty the Clown?

Executive Producer Al Jean did hint it would be an Emmy-winning character. While it probably won't be any of the Simpson family members, here is a list of other possible characters:

  • Jackie Mason as Rabbi Hyman Krustofski
  • Marcia Wallace as Edna Krabappel
  • Hank Azaria as Apu Nahasapeemapetilon
  • Kelsey Grammer as Sideshow Bob
  • Anne Hathaway as Princess Penelope

In the meantime, get cracking on the reruns of The Simpsons episodes. There are only 11 days left.

Vietnamese soup you'll love to slurp: Homemade Hanoi chicken-and-tofu pho

Unlike traditional pho, which is made with steak or tendon, this unique recipe is made with thin strips of poached chicken breast and topped with crispy baked tofu bits. Don't worry, pho lovers, the other regulars are there, like jalapeños, bean sprouts and cilantro. It may still be summer, but in my book it's always a good time for pho.

Hanoi chicken-and-tofu pho recipe

Serves 4

Ingredients:

  • 8 ounces red or white rice noodles
  • 8 ounces extra-firm tofu, drained
  • Salt and pepper
  • 3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 2 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts, poached
  • 1 large onion, halved and sliced
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 2 cups water
  • 5 star of anise pods
  • 4 scallions, chopped
  • 2 jalapeño peppers, sliced and seeded
  • 3 tablespoons fish sauce
  • 1/2 cup cilantro
  • 1 cup fresh bean sprouts (optional)
  • 1 cinnamon stick

Directions:

  1. In a bowl, soak the noodles in cold water. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. Slice the tofu into squares, and toss with salt and pepper. Drizzle with 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Bake for about 30 to 35 minutes or until golden brown, flipping every 10 minutes until crispy.
  3. Meanwhile, in a Dutch oven, heat the remaining olive oil over medium heat. Add the scallions and 1-1/2 jalapeños, and heat until softened, about 3 to 4 minutes. Add the chicken broth, water, star of anise and cinnamon stick. Reduce the heat, and simmer for about 20 minutes. Mix in the fish sauce.
  4. Slice the chicken into thin strips, and add them to the broth along with the tofu. Remove from heat, and discard the anise pods and cinnamon stick.
  5. Divide the noodles into 4 bowls. Pour the chicken-and-tofu broth over the noodles, and garnish with fresh bean sprouts, lime juice and cilantro, as well as some jalapeño slices.

I work for CPS and this is why I'll take your kids

I knew I was to blame, too. After all, I was the social worker who picked up the phone to call Child Protective Services when the mom tested positive for opiates in Labor and Delivery. Her case haunts me, because she was a normal mom who found herself in a bad situation. Her crippling neck pain had caused her to take prescription painkillers during her pregnancy, and she took far too many of them. The narcotics created a placental abruption, and her baby almost died before an emergency C-section. I called CPS because the mother's drug use had put her child's life at risk, and CPS responded by placing all four of this mother's kids in someone else's home. When I placed the CPS call, I never would have imagined this outcome or the mom's icy stare as she left the hospital without any of her children.

Reporting mandates in an unclear world

My social work license mandates that I make the call to CPS whenever I have concerns about child abuse or neglect. The law is incredibly clear, but, unfortunately, my job is not. I routinely have to make judgment calls based on intuition, hunches and the best evidence I can put together from minimal information. I have to act in the best interests of children, even when I'm not directly working with them. I have to call, even when I know a CPS visit will obliterate my relationship with the mother in question. Hands down, it's the worst part of my job, and probably the most important.

So, what's going through my mind when I call Child Protective Services? I want the family to receive help. I want them to learn parenting skills, or perhaps get help for a long-ignored addiction. I want the mom to know I care about her and her children, even if my care appears punitive. Most of all, I never want to be the social worker in the news who should have seen a child's death coming and intervened beforehand.

Remember the role of CPS in a safe society

Once I notify CPS about possible abuse or neglect, the case is entirely out of my hands. From that point on, CPS decides whether abuse or neglect has occurred and how it should be handled. I wish it was more cut and dry, but I've seen caseworkers handle the same situation very differently. For example, I once called CPS about a positive marijuana test in Labor and Delivery, and the caseworker still decided to send the baby home with Mom. That same caseworker was the one who placed all four of the opiate-using mom's kids in foster care. I'm bothered that I never really know the outcome of my call — but a lot less bothered than if something terrible happens to a child.

If you're ever on the receiving end of an unnecessary CPS visit, please try to be grateful that systems exist to protect our nation's children. Social workers are doing the best they can — and if there are no concerns for your child's well-being, CPS will quickly exit from your life. But if there is evidence of abuse and neglect, try to remember that CPS is there to help you restore you family rather than destroy it.
