Kim Kardashian Threw Chrissy Teigen a Super-Fun Baby Shower

In just a few short weeks, Chrissy Teigen and John Legend will welcome their second child, a son, into their ridiculously cool little family. But first, surprise! On Friday, the couple enjoyed a secret baby shower thrown by friends Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, Kris Jenner and celebrity hairstylist Jen Atkin. Even more amazing? In a totally Teigen move, Shake Shack catered the baby fete — guests noshed on the popular food joint's signature burgers, chicken sandwiches and vanilla milkshakes, per E! News.

And although none of us got an invite to what sure looks like a super-fun party, we can at least live vicariously through Kardashian, who naturally shared several memorable moments from the shindig on social media.

Hilariously, she even caught Teigen indulging in some classic pregnancy craving binge-eating when she thought no one was watching. In the video, the hungry mama laughs at being filmed while Kardashian jokes, "Chrissy ate that entire cake, you guys, by herself... and she's still going."

But, like, can you really blame her? The punny cakes ("A Legend in the Making!") looked pretty darn delicious.

Teigen clearly didn't hold the good-natured prodding against her pal, though, because the pair posed for a cute selfie.

Not to mention Kardashian later caught Teigen "riding" an apparently priceless sheep art sculpture collectible and didn't tattle to its owner, Jenner. So, yeah, these playful friends probably broke even for the evening.

On the subject of no hard feelings, Legend and West made nice after sparring on Twitter this week over — what else? — politics. But West made it clear there was no bad blood between the musicians, sharing a selfie on Twitter with the caption, "We got love. Agree to disagree."

At the baby shower "after party," the dads also vibed to West's new single, "Ye vs. the People," which features T.I.

Kardashian then caught her husband covertly filming Legend, who'd found a piano to play. Sidebar: Who in the Jenner household plays piano?

Ultimately, it looks like fun was had by all at the enviably low-key affair. And now that all of her guests are gone, Teigen can go back to binge-eating cake in peace while awaiting the arrival of her precious baby boy. Enjoy every minute (and morsel), Mama!

Yes, Ovulation Can Be Painful — Here's Why

$

For people who menstruate, the average cycle lasts between 25 and 30 days, and each part brings with it its own specific set of symptoms. We’re all pretty familiar with what happens during the two to seven days we bleed and some of our premenstrual symptoms, but what about feeling discomfort or cramps during another part of the month? If that’s the case, the minor pain you’re feeling might be ovulation.

What happens during ovulation?

When a person ovulates, this means that their most mature egg is released from the follicle, out of the ovary and through one of the fallopian tubes toward the uterus. The whole process takes several days.

Once the egg is in the uterus, it waits for a sperm cell for around 24 hours and then dissolves. But because sperm are able to live in the fallopian tubes for several days, pregnancy can occur from having unprotected intercourse in the six days leading up to and including ovulation according to Planned Parenthood.

More: Are Painful Periods Hereditary?

Is ovulation painful?

In order to determine if the pelvic discomfort you’re feeling might be ovulation, it’s a good idea to track when that might happen. Dr. Jessica Shepherd, an OB-GYN, tells SheKnows that ovulation occurs 14 days prior to the start of a cycle, meaning that ovulation pain can occur anywhere from one to four days prior to ovulation.

Painful ovulation is also known as “mittelschmerz,” which means “middle pain” in German (since it occurs about halfway through a menstrual cycle).

So what does it feel like?  “Ovulation pain can feel like a ‘pulling,’ mild ‘stabbing’ pain or sometimes be very painful with diffuse abdominal pain, which sometimes can be due to a rupture of a cyst,” Shepherd explains.

Similarly, the Mayo Clinic indicates that the pain typically occurs on one side of a person’s lower abdomen, and the pain can be dull and cramplike or sudden and sharp. The pain may switch sides alternating months or remain on the same side for a while. It may also be accompanied by mild vaginal bleeding or discharge.

Why does this happen?

Though the exact cause is unknown, the Mayo Clinic explains that it may happen when follicle growth stretches the surface of the ovary (causing discomfort) just before the egg is released. Another possible explanation is that blood or fluid released from the ruptured follicle could irritate the lining of the abdomen, resulting in pain.

MoreHow the U.S. Differs From the Rest of the World When It Comes to Periods

How can you treat it?

If you are experiencing ovulatory pain, Shepherd recommends taking medications like Aleve, Tylenol or Midol up to 24 hours before you typically ovulate as well as during the ovulation period. She also suggests using alternatives like hot water bottles or heating pads to help with the pain.

As always, if the symptoms don’t resolve on their own with basic pain-relieving treatments or become severe and/or accompanied by fever or nausea, it’s best to see your doctor right away to make sure it’s not something more serious, like appendicitis, pelvic inflammatory disease or an ectopic pregnancy.

How to Productively Channel Your Emotions at Work

$

Do you find yourself getting anxious or angry on the job? Properly managing your emotions can be critical to professional success since they can either propel your career or hold you back. Whether you’re facing frustration over a problematic team dynamic or a stalled project or are struggling to focus because of personal issues (a breakup, an illness, whatever) the trouble starts when you aren’t sure how to productively channel the negative ones and allow them to get the best of you.

Here are a few tips for keeping your cool while you’re on the clock.

Blend in

If you’re with coworkers and starting to feel frustrated or overwhelmed, try to monitor your breathing and compartmentalize emotions so you don’t erupt. Sometimes, you get news that makes you emotional in front of coworkers, and you don’t want them to see your reaction even if they may totally understand it. It’s better not to be the person who blows up because those colleagues can impact your career long after you’re gone from the company. Even if they like you (and can relate), people talk, and no one wants to be known as the person who freaks out when things get intense. “Emotions come and go; résumés and networks take a long time to build,” says Alexander S. Lowry, a professor at Gordon College.

Take a time-out

Who hasn’t faked a severe need to pee only to sit in the restroom stall and practice some deep breathing? There’s nothing wrong with releasing your emotions — or giving yourself a moment to process them — in private at work. If you’re really upset, though, don’t let a few tears turn into a full-on meltdown. That could cause even more issues. But by all means, take a walk or an early lunch break if you need to deal with some sudden emotions. It’s way better to have your boss wonder where you are (and explain later) than say or do something you wish you could take back.

Seek refuge outside work

Most of us have a buddy or two on the job (oh hey, work wife!) that can help talk through our rage when we’re passed up for a promotion or unfairly axed from a project, but the safer bet is to hold back and wait to talk to a friend after hours. Even if you choose to vent to a coworker, doing so during work could make a bad situation worse.

Above all else, go easy on yourself — sometimes, it’s tough to manage emotions, even if they’re good ones. “Strive to be a good, compassionate and professional person at all times," says Alexandra Franzen, author of You’re Going to Survive. “And remember that nobody — even your seemingly impeccable boss — is perfect.”

Tom Hanks & Rita Wilson Had a Lot of (Celeb) Help Toasting 30 Years of Marriage

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson rang in their 30th wedding anniversary this weekend and, to celebrate, the longtime couple got by with a little help from their friends. By little, we definitely mean a lot — and by friends, we mean a bevy of Hollywood A-listers.

More: Tom Hanks & Bryan Cranston's Bromance Is What Dreams Are Made Of

The star power was on point for the Saturday night soiree, including guests like Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, Conan O'Brien, Martin Short, and Jimmy Kimmel and wife Molly McNearney. Also helping Hanks and Wilson toast the major marital milestone? Oprah and the Obamas, per TMZ. The night certainly didn't lack for celebrity revelers.

But, hey, Hanks' and Wilson's marriage does merit congratulatory applaud. It's heartwarming anytime two people find their counterpoint in another — it's truly special when their love stands the test of time. This seems especially valid in Tinsel Town, where divorces play out so publically (and with what feels like increasing frequency).

More: Tom Hanks, Literal Hero, Is Keeping Journalists Woke

The enduring couple first met way back in the early '80s. She appeared in an episode of his then-sitcom Bosom Buddies before they shared the screen in the 1985 John Candy flick Volunteers. Their relationship started with a bit of controversy, given he was still married to college sweetheart Samantha Lewes when he and Wilson initially sparked. "I asked Rita if it was the real thing for her, and it just couldn't be denied," Hanks would tell GQ years later.

However, Hanks has said his first marriage was already in trouble before he ever laid eyes on Wilson, whom he didn't begin dating until after his divorce. It's worth mentioned here that Hanks was only 23 with a two-year-old son (Colin Hanks) when he and Wilson met. "I was looking for something I had not found as a kid," he told the U.K.'s Express in 2013. "And a broken marriage meant I was sentencing my own kids to the sort of feelings I had at their age. I was just too young and insecure for marriage."

As the saying goes, though, all's well that ends well. Hanks and Wilson got hitched on April 30, 1988 and have been living their best life together ever since.

More: Rita Wilson Has an Important Message for All Women

"The success of our relationship was a matter of timing, maturity, and our willingness to have an intimate connection," Hanks told Oprah in 2001. "When I married Rita, I thought, 'This is going to require some change on my part.' I won't deny that providence was part of us finding each other, but our relationship isn't magic — the way it's show in movies. In real life, our connection is as concrete as me sitting here. Not that marriage doesn't come close to being hell in a handbasket sometimes. But we both know that no matter what, we'll be with each other — and we'll get through it."

If ever one quote was a master class in marriage, that's it. Happy anniversary to this perfectly imperfect pair!

Kelly Clarkson Has a New Look That Is Totally Bangin'

The stage isn't the only thing Kelly Clarkson rocked at a benefit gala on Friday night. The Voice coach debuted a brand new super-blonde 'do — with bangs! Clarkson highlighted the new cut and color with a high bun, and she couldn't have looked more stunning. Her sexy black Elie Saab dress provided a nice contrast that also helped make her lighter, brighter, edgier hair really stand out.

Although Clarkson has lightened her naturally brunette locks before, she appears to have gone blonder than ever. Paired with those fringey bangs, the "Piece by Piece" singer looked like a new woman at the UCLA Jonsson Cancer Center Foundation's 23rd Annual Taste for a Cure event in Beverly Hills.

In an Instagram post prior to the benefit, Clarkson credited her longtime colorist Robert Ramos with the transformation.

Ramos shared a similar snapshot on his own feed, saying his team glammed Clarkson out for the event with a topknot, bangs and texture. Whatever Ramos is doing, it's obviously working. Or should we say Clarkson is working it?

To be clear, Clarkson would look amazing no matter what she decided to do with her tresses. She radiates beauty. But it is nice to see the busy mom, who turned 36 on April 24, take time out of her hectic schedule to squeeze in a little time for herself.

In fact, during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the night before debuting her new 'do, Clarkson comically revealed that perhaps she enjoyed a little too much "her" time at her surprise birthday party.

"I maybe had a little bit too much and I didn't know there was a surprise coming. There was a ton of people waiting afterwards, nobody told me there was a dinner or an escape game planned. Nothing," she said, joking, "I pre-gamed a lot. My pre-game was far above everyone else's."

Get it, little mama! Clarkson works hard; she's earned the right to play hard, too. And no matter how boozy her birthday got, at least her hair will be on point in all the pictures.

Home on a Saturday Night Is More Exciting Than 2018's Correspondents' Dinner

$

During Barack Obama's years as POTUS, celebrities and journalists alike descended on Washington, D.C., to attend the annual White House Correspondents' Dinner. For the better part of the last decade, the event maintained its star power and became a night of mixed industry mingling. This year's dinner, however, was a decidedly different affair. Gone were the throngs of Hollywood A-listers. In their place? In the words of The Washington Post, "About 3,000 journalists, random plus-ones and curious hangers-on." To put it bluntly, the evening was, well, dull.

More: Malia Obama Discovers That Life Outside the White House Isn't So Private

However — and this is important — perhaps that's a good thing. Aside from comedian Michelle Wolf's controversial speech, the focus of the dinner rested squarely on the accomplishments and future of the free press. That's the point, after all. "Our dinner honors the First Amendment and strong, independent journalism," Margaret Talev of Bloomberg News said at the annual gala.

Before it became a star-studded occasion, the dinner was designed for presenting journalism awards and raising money for student scholarships. Worthy causes, right? And while it's certainly possible to do those things with half of Hollywood in attendance (arguably a bonus, even, where the fundraising is concerned), maybe it's not such a bad thing for stars to take a break occasionally. In doing so this year, the spotlight rested more squarely on the media — which is notably still trying to adjust to covering the current administration.

Examples of this year's award winners include The New York Times' Maggie Haberman; CNN's Evan Perez, Jim Sciutto, Jake Tapper and Carl Bernstein; Politico/The Washington Post's Josh Dawsey; and Reuters' Grant Smith, Jason Szep, Lisa Girion, Peter Eisler and Tim Reid.

More: 11 Times Barack Obama Has Lived His Best Life Since Leaving the White House

This year's dinner still had some celebs in attendance, though: comedian Kathy Griffin, Baltimore Orioles icon Brooks Robinson, Comedy Central personality Jordan Klepper, actor and producer Tim Daly and Stormy Daniels attorney Michael Avenatti.

Katy Perry & Orlando Bloom Made Their Relationship Public for a Major Event

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom might have had the best weekend out of all of us. This adorable pair is currently in the throes of a happily rekindled (yet unconfirmed by them) relationship that they're not afraid to make more and more public as time goes on. The couple has been making sure they're spending any and all of their free time together. The lovebirds made the most of their trip to Rome this weekend, and basically, without saying anything, confirmed they were indeed back together. Oh, and they met the pope.

More: Katy Perry & Orlando Bloom Try to Hide Their Rekindled Relationship, but We See Them

Perry and Bloom were in the gorgeous Italian city for the United to Cure conference in the city-within-the-city — Vatican City — where, according to E! News, Perry was slated to speak about the power of transcendental meditation. The conference, according to PR Newswire, was meant to "raise global awareness and create a forum for collaboration around the wide array of powerful and promising cell therapies, gene therapies and immunotherapies emerging from medical institutions around the world, as well as the impact new technology will have on humanity and society."

The conference sounds interesting, but we're focused on a photo Perry posted from the event. It's not clear when it happened, but at some point, basking in the glow of the holy city with Bloom by her side, she met Pope Francis. The meeting was likely part of the scheduled meet and greets the pope had with conference attendees, but scheduled or not, we have a feeling this is a watershed moment in Perry's and Bloom's lives — they won't forget about it anytime soon.

Perry shared the photo of the meeting to her Instagram. "Honored to be in the presence of His Holiness @franciscus' compassionate heart and inclusivity. Thank you to @meditationbob and #TheCuraFoundation for making it all possible," she captioned a very cool photo of herself, holding hands with the pope as Bloom looked on. It's doubtful the meeting lasted any longer than a few moments considering it looks like a crowded scene and the pope is, well, the pope (read: busy).

Perry and Bloom not only got to meet the pope — one of the ultimate famous faces if you ask us — but they also got to jaunt around Vatican City and Rome while on their holiday. E! We don't know about you, but between meeting the pope and seeing some of the most historic sites in the world right after participating in a conference meant to make the world a better place, we're pretty sure Perry and Bloom's weekend retreat to Rome was epic.

Here's What You Should Watch on Netflix in May

Netflix is like a content machine: Each new month brings a host of new original movies, documentaries and TV shows. The result is great not only for subscribers but also for shareholders. Shares of Netflix stock are up 60 percent this year, making Netflix one of the fastest growing media companies around. The company is also considering purchasing brick-and-mortar movie theaters, presumably to give theatrical releases to its own original movies. This bodes well for the future of cinema.

But not all of us like to head out of the house for expensive popcorn and parking headaches. Luckily, there are lots of great titles to choose from in May that we can stream from our own comfy couch. Some highlights are a crime thriller starring Clive Owen and Amanda Seyfried, a romantic comedy about a high school kissing booth starring Molly Ringwald and a fun, new family-friendly TV show with the beloved Carol Burnett.

You'll Never Guess Who Jennifer Aniston Is Reuniting With

It's been seven years since Jennifer Aniston costarred with Adam Sandler in Just Go With It, and the pair is headed back to Netflix for a new comedy according to Variety. The outlet reports that insiders said Aniston and Sandler have sought opportunities to work together again, and it seems they've finally found the right fit.

Netflix's Murder Mystery is slated to star Sandler and Aniston as a New York cop and his wife, respectively, who become prime suspects in the murder of an elderly billionaire while they are on vacation together in Europe. The movie was scripted by James Vanderbilt (Zodiac, The Amazing Spider-Man) and is set to be directed by Workaholics cocreator Kyle Newacheck.

Murder Mystery will mark only the second time Aniston and Sandler have worked together. But despite their short amount of on-screen time together, Huffington Post reported in 2001 that the pair has been friends for decades. When Aniston was presented with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2012, Sandler gave a speech that brought her to tears.

Variety reports that Murder Mystery is Aniston's first experience working with Netflix, though it's Sandler's sixth project with the streaming company. His most recent Netflix comedy, The Week Of, costars Chris Rock and premiered last Friday. Previous movies that have resulted from Sandler's Netflix deal include bawdy comedies Sandy Wexler and The Ridiculous 6.

Aniston has been keeping a low public profile since her split with ex-husband, Justin Theroux, though it hasn't been a full retreat from the public eye. On April 15, she attended Gwyneth Paltrow's engagement party alongside several other Hollywood A-listers, like Reese Witherspoon, with whom Aniston is set to star in an Apple TV series according to The Hollywood Reporter. Apple ordered two full seasons of the as-yet-untitled morning drama, which, in addition to starring in, Aniston and Witherspoon also co-own alongside Michael Ellenberg's Media Res company. They are listed as executive producers for the series.

According to IMDb, Murder Mystery is currently filming in Montréal. No additional casting information has been released as of today.

The Mom's Guide to Cannes

The glitzy, glamorous French Riviera might not be the first destination that springs to mind when you plan a kid-friendly vacation, but repeat after us: Trips with children don't have to be restricted to resorts, campsites and Disney theme parks. Go ahead. Say it again for good measure.

Sure, Cannes (less than 30 kilometers from the Nice airport) may be most famous for the annual international film festival that begins on May 8 this year — and, you know, for the palatial hotels that house the stars that walk the event's red carpet. But it also has plenty to keep the little ones entertained. In fact, I take my kids to Cannes every year — and while they couldn't care less if Blake Lively walks past them on La Croisette (although my daughter's head might be turned by Gal Gadot, because Wonder Woman), they absolutely love this bustling coastal town. Here are some of our favorite things to do in Cannes.

More: The Mom's Guide to NYC

La Croisette Cannes

Walk La Croisette

Ah, La Croisette. If you don't do anything else in Cannes, make sure you walk the length of it (or as much of the 2-kilometer stretch your little one's legs can manage). Also, make sure you get family pics posing on the red carpet outside the Palais du Festival, take a break to enjoy the permanent mini-carnival (the double-decker carousel is beautiful) and replenish your energy stocks at the snack bars along the route. Hire Segways and make your walk more of a cruise if your kids are 8 or over.

Have adventures at Le Bois des Lutins

Only around 20 kilometers from Cannes is one of the most magical amusement parks you're likely to ever see — one the whole family can really enjoy. Le Bois des Lutins ("the wood of the elves") has an incredible treetop course of nets spanning 1.5 hectares of land, with zip lines, enormous plastic balls to roll around, bouncy houses, tree houses, rope swings and loads more. For €5 (about $6 USD), you can buy a bag of dirt for your kids to mine for treasure in a waterway. To get the most out of your adventure in Le Bois des Lutins, wear long pants and sleeves and take bug repellent. You can bring your own picnic lunch if you like, but the on-site snack stands are also superb.

Visit Iles des Lérins

The Mom's Guide to Cannes: Iles des Lérins

Board the ferry at Cannes' old port, and within 15 minutes, you've reached Iles des Lérins — two peaceful, well-preserved islands. You can't go to both without going back to Cannes en route between, but if you're in Cannes for a few days, they're definitely both worth a visit. St. Marguerite is bigger, with marked trails to lead you along botanical and historical tours of the site. St. Honorat has an active monastery that's strictly off-limits, but its fortified monastery is free to visit — and perfect for kids who need to run around and let off some steam. Take a picnic, find a secluded spot, and eat your lunch with your feet dangling in the Med. Bliss.

Go wild in the water at Aquasplash

The Mom's Guide to Cannes: Aquasplash

You only need to travel 10 kilometers from the hustle and bustle of Cannes and you're at Aquasplash, one of the biggest water parks on the French Riviera, with over 2,000 meters of slides. It's open every day of the week from June to September (the 2018 opening date is June 16) and has something for kids of all ages. If a few hours of watery entertainment is enough, split the day between Aquasplash and its neighbor, Marineland, which is home to dolphins, killer whales, penguins and even two polar bears chilling out in their air-conditioned digs, complete with natural seawater and ice caves. Both Aquasplash and Marineland have plenty of picnic areas, too, if you want to take your own lunch.

Old Town Cannes

Explore the old town

Before Cannes was taken over as a playground for the rich and famous (as well as those of us wannabes), it was actually a small fishing village set atop Le Suquet, a hill rising back from the port. See how many of the 109 steps your kids can cope with (more than you, possibly) with the promise of unforgettable views and ice cream at the top. The old fortress at the top of the hill, now Musée de la Castre, is great fun to explore and is home to some fascinating eclectic collections older kids with an interest in history will enjoy (entry is free for under-18s).

Hop aboard Le Petit Train

The Mom's Guide to Cannes: Le Petit Train

Like lots of towns and village across France, Cannes has its own Petit Train. This is a brilliant, inexpensive way to see the sights — without having to worry about air-conditioning. It departs regularly (between 10 a.m. and 11 p.m.) from the Palais des Festivals and gives you an hour-long guided tour of the town. At €7 (about $8.50 USD) per adult and €3 (about $3.60 USD) per child age 3 to 10 (it's free for kids under 3), it'll be the cheapest hour you ever spend in Cannes.

Chill out on a catamaran cruise

The Mom's Guide to Cannes: Bay of Cannes catamaran cruise

Lots of companies offer half-day catamaran cruises around the Bay of Cannes, which are perfect if you want to escape the crowded beaches — and have older kids who can be trusted not to leap off the side of the boat. Masks and snorkels are provided when it's time to stop and cool off in the beautiful Great Blue.

More: The Mom's Guide to London

Eat (lots of) Nivà ice cream

No trip to Cannes is complete without ice cream, and locals swear by Nivà (its permanent home is on Rue Félix-Faure next to Les Arcades cinema, but keep your eyes peeled for the cream and purple Nivà cart popping up at various temporary spots around the town). This stuff is smooth, creamy and well worth waiting in line for. If your kids like Nutella, they'll go crazy for gianduia. The salted caramel is amazing, the dark chocolate sorbet is amazing... actually, it's all amazing.

Cannes might not be at top of your bring-the-kids list, but if you plan ahead, it can be an amazing experience for the whole family. And you never know. You might just bump into Wonder Woman while you're in line at Nivà.

We all have the chatty mega-traveler acquaintance who loves to tantalize us with tales of international menu offerings at McDonald's — magical, tasty items we can only dream of here in the States, like, oh, cheese- and bacon-slathered fries (those crazy genius Aussies); a juicy Angus beef burger from our northerly neighbors, the Canadians; two majestic salads from France, ooh la la; a tongue-tinglingly spicy chicken sandwich from Hong Kong; and a McFlurry from Brazil made with strawberry sauce and chocolate-covered coconut shreds. Brazilian wax not included.

Now, now. Stop your blubbering. We wouldn't be this cruel if there weren't a silver lining. These things are real — and you can eat them! All you need is a Chicago zip code — or, you know, some college friends in Chicago you can go visit.

Last week, McDonald's opened a restaurant on the ground floor of its Chicago HQ (yeah, we didn't know McDonald's mission control was in Chicago either). And they are serving all the aforementioned international offerings there. Like, now, people. Get thee to Chi-Town!

The seating is a combination of leather and a proprietary leather-like material that McDonald's created for its modern stores. The building's original concrete pillars remain, and red-tinted glass at the entrance adds a pop of color to the mostly neutral space. One wall, etched with a map of the world, features small Golden Arches signs that move and illuminate when a country's menu item is available." Damn, fam.

The best part? This McDonald's will be changing up the international menu all the time — so you'll never know what global taste sensation you'll find awaiting you and your sweetly broke-ass budget. Of course, if you're bringing lunch back to your super-judgy, über-health-conscious Chicago office, you can always hide the McDonald's wrappers and tell people you just tried takeout from a fab new Hong Kong restaurant. We won't tell. Promise.

Don't panic: You can also order beloved American oldies-but-goodies like Big Macs and Chicken McNuggets if you're not feeling particularly adventurous. But we're pretty sure you'll be impressed by the full-time baristas whipping up Australian flat-white coffees and other Down Under coffee coolness.

Ann Wahlgren, vice president of global menu strategy for McDonald’s, talked to CBS Chicago about the exciting news. She said the company is thrilled to be “bringing not only your local favorites, but menu products that are delicious, great tasting from around the world, exclusively to this restaurant.”

This is major foodie news. Even the Chicago Tribune is chatting up the magical Fulton Market McDonald’s, describing it as "one of the company’s modernized ‘experience of the future’ locations with ordering kiosks, table service, and curbside pickup.”
One teensy tiny drawback? No drive-thru window. Oh, who cares? Who wants to drive in Chicago anyway?
Eater also reports that a mobile app will be available to send orders to the restaurant at the speed of light. And get this — there will be table service. As in no standing 20-deep in line salivating like a Pavlovian lab dog. And those tables will even let you charge your mobile devices (touch charging too if your phone is compatible, but if your phone is that cool, you can probably afford to fly to real Brazil to get your strawberry-coconut McFlurry).

Why is this happening? How are we worthy of this greatness? Well, how is Chicago worthy of this greatness? “As part of our new headquarters, we wanted to provide our customers with an exciting way to experience our global menu right here in Chicago,” Steve Easterbrook, president and CEO of McDonald’s, reported to the New York Post. "We are delighted to showcase a taste of McDonald’s from all over the world making this a one-of-a-kind experience that Chicagoans will enjoy with friends and family.”

Lucky damn Chicagoans. Hopefully, the new location will be a smash hit and the rest of us sad sacks will be able to nibble delicate French salads with our Big Macs very soon. Take a hint, McDonald's. Everyone deserves some global intrigue on their 30-minute fast-food lunch break. We're waiting. It's been a brutal year. Please send Australian bacon-and-cheese fries at the very least.

The 5 Lifestyle Habits That Can Reportedly Make You Live Longer

In an age when instant gratification usually wins over putting in the hard work and effort, we're always on the hunt for easy health tips we can implement to make us look and feel better and live longer. So when new research was released from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health that promised five lifestyle habits that may increase your life expectancy by a decade of more, we were all ears.

We're sorry to be the bearers of bad news, but these tips are the exact same health guidelines we've been hearing for years consolidated into one list: Eating well, exercising, not smoking, limiting alcohol consumption and maintaining a healthy weight.

More: Your Guide to Self-Care After Trauma

But isn't new research supposed to tell us something... well, new? Even though this particular study doesn't tell us anything we didn't already know about how to live a healthy life, it is the first comprehensive analysis of the impact of adopting low-risk lifestyle factors on life expectancy in America. In other words, while these are familiar health tips, we now know more about their long-term effects.

The study, published in the journal Circulation, found that Americans who maintained the healthiest of lifestyles (following their five guidelines) were 82 percent less likely to die from cardiovascular disease and 65 percent less likely to die from cancer when compared with those with the least healthy lifestyles over the course of the roughly three-decade study period. These numbers are no joke — especially when you consider that they're based on lifestyle changes that are within most people's power to implement.

This is pretty important when you consider that the U.S. has a shorter average life expectancy than most other high-income countries (79.3 years), placing us 31st in the world in 2015.

After analyzing 27 years of data from 78,865 women and 44,354 men, the study found that the women who adopted and maintained the five lifestyle habits mentioned above gained an average of 14 years of life (men gained around 12).

"This study underscores the importance of following healthy lifestyle habits for improving longevity in the U.S. population," Dr. Frank Hu, chair of the Department of Nutrition at Harvard Chan School and senior author of the study, said in a statement. "However, adherence to healthy lifestyle habits is very low. Therefore, public policies should put more emphasis on creating healthy food, built, and social environments to support and promote healthy diet and lifestyles."

Kim Kardashian West Has Officially Disowned Tristan Thompson

It's been 18 days since Khloé Kardashian gave birth to daughter True Thompson and 20 days since allegations against her boyfriend Tristan Thompson came to light. Allegedly, the NBA star cheated on Kardashian repeatedly during her pregnancy. Ugh. In the aftermath of everything, the Kardashian family has mostly stayed mum about the situation, including Kardashian herself — who People reported has "made no decisions" on her future with Thompson. A source said she's "delaying that conversation until she's ready."

More: Kim Kardashian West Confirmed All the Rumors About Tristan Thompson

Now, at least one member of the Kardashian clan is breaking her silence. In a clip posted to TMZ on Friday, Kim Kardashian West spoke candidly to Ellen DeGeneres about the situation with Thompson and her sister.

"Like, I don’t even know how to describe it other than it’s just so fucked up," she described to DeGeneres. "We really were rooting for Khloé. And we still are. She’s so strong and she’s doing the best she can. It’s a really sad situation all over. I kind of made this rule with my brother: If there’s a baby involved, I’m not going talk — I’m going to keep it cute and keep it classy and not talk too bad on [the parent] — I’m going to try not to say anything too negative because one day, True is going to see this, and it’s just, you know, so messed up."

Kardashian West kept to her word in terms of what she's saying publicly. But as of today, she's officially unfollowed Thompson on Instagram according to Elle. The outlet shared screenshots of Kardashian West's Instagram, which show that although she was still following Thompson on April 11, one day after the cheating scandal broke and one day before True Thompson was born, that is no longer the case.

We don't know when she hit that unfollow button, but we do know this: Thompson's first Instagram post since the scandal broke — and since his daughter was born — was about his NBA team, the Cleveland Cavaliers. On Sunday, he shared a photo of himself with the caption, "WHAT AN ATMOSPHERE IN THE Q!! GREAT WIN #OnToTheNextOne." It's not exactly sinister, but it's also not the kind of move Thompson should be making if he wants to put on a good face or try to keep things amicable.

In a lengthy Instagram post, Murgatroyd described waking up nauseous Saturday morning and how that quickly progressed to vomiting, chills and a fever. She said she "just tried to sleep it off before the show" but when showtime rolled around, she says, "I could hardly walk and I couldn't feel my arms or legs. [...] I tried my best to dance but my legs were giving out. Apart from it being very embarrassing, it was very scary."

Murgatroyd said she thought her symptoms pointed to food poisoning, which a list of symptoms on the Mayo Clinic website supports. According to Entertainment Tonight, her apology post came hours before Murgatroyd was set to take the stage in Kansas City, Missouri, on Sunday. The outlet also reports that Murgatroyd was able to return to the stage in Missouri, performing less than 24 hours after her illness sidelined her in Texas — also suggesting food poisoning according to common symptoms and a timeline of the illness.

Thankfully, it seems that no permanent damage has been done. In a follow-up Instagram post on Sunday night, Murgatroyd shared a photo from the Kansas City show and wrote, "KANSAS CITY You guys were incredible tonight! It felt so good to be back on stage," complete with celebration emojis and a strong arm.

It's good to see Murgatroyd is back to dancing and no longer sidelined. Let's hope she continues to rest, heal and get back to her old self as quickly as possible.

You’d Better Believe Game of Thrones Is a Part of Kit Harington's Wedding

Former Game of Thrones costars Kit Harington and Rose Leslie made their on-screen romance IRL-official in 2017 and got engaged in a super-sweet way. Now, they're getting closer to their top-secret ceremony, and apparently, they're giving at least one nod to the HBO series that brought them together.

More: Rose Leslie Gave Kit Harington the Real Test of Love

The Daily Mail reports that the couple sent out 200 wedding invitations bearing a familiar face on the stamps: Harington's. The couple reportedly used Jon Snow-themed stamps from a special Game of Thrones stamp collection released earlier in 2018 through the Royal Mail.

Here's the catch: the Jon Snow stamp appears to only be available in books with nine other characters. If his face is on every invitation, then someone definitely thought this through before committing... and spent a ton of money on stamps to make it happen.

A source close to the couple said, "They organized the wedding quickly because they didn’t want information to leak. But putting Kit's face on the envelope might be a bit of a giveaway, at least for postmen across the country."

It definitely seems like a strange move since Daily Mail reports that the couple is very concerned dedicated Thrones fans might appear at their upcoming nuptials. Harington and Leslie have been keeping things heavily under wraps and have requested that invited guests not reveal anything in order to keep key details from fans.

More: Kit Harington & Rose Leslie's Wedding Planning Basically Isn't Happening

The secrecy possibly puts some things into perspective. Leslie told Town & Country in January, "I'm trying to fit in my wedding. I haven't tackled it. There's just too much to do." Maybe she was deflecting attention?

In October, Harington went on The Jonathan Ross Show and said that although the entire Game of Thrones cast will be invited, the wedding won't be Thrones themed... except, apparently, for the invites. "I rang [a producer] up and I said, 'I'm getting married and it’s your fault actually.'" He added, "I think for the final season he is so stressed that he's reached that peaceful level. I was like, 'You need to factor in a Game of Thrones wedding by the way.' They [the cast] have all got to be there so the whole thing has got to shut down."

Harington and Leslie announced their engagement in London-based newspaper The Times in September 2017. There's no word on a wedding date as of today, but we're dying to know.

The twins arrived on Monday, April 23. Johnson Herjavec wrote, “I never thought my heart could feel so full. We’re so in love with our little angels. Born at 7.44am and 7.45am 4/23/18,” as a caption for a black-and-white shot of her husband cradling the babies in his arms.

Johnson Herjavec and Herjavec met when they were paired together on Season 20 of Dancing with the Stars (yes, really). The twins are Johnson Herjavec's first children; Herjavec has three other children from a previous marriage to Diane Plese.

Twinning = winning. Keep the photos and updates coming, Kym and Robert. We don't envy your lack of sleep, but we definitely envy this twin cuteness.

Instead of Helping, My Psychiatrist Made My Mental Health So Much Worse

Only crazy people see therapists — at least that’s what I used to think.

I was one of those individuals who silently suffered because of the stigma. But a few days after turning 27, I was in a mental institution. A full year later, I often wonder if it was because of my own anxiety or because of a major life decision that I had made a few months earlier — my decision to see a psychiatrist.

The summer before I began a new job, I called a local social worker, and within a few days, I was sitting in her office on the iconic sofa. I couldn’t believe I was there, but if this was what it would take for me to feel better, then I would sit on that couch and spill the contents of my convoluted life.

To my dismay, I only felt worse after each session. Nothing excited me. That is when my therapist made a comment that truly resonated with me: “If you don’t have anything to look forward to, then what’s the point of living?”

More: Is it Possible to Become a Less Sensitive Person?

I had never contemplated suicide. In fact, the whole concept was unfathomable to me. I didn’t understand how someone could want to hurt him or herself. It was ludicrous and something that I would certainly never do, but my therapist did have a point…

Since therapy wasn’t prompting any progress, my therapist had recommended that I see the psychiatrist in her office and gave me her card.

When I called her, she was rude and judgmental. She told me that she did not have availability for a new patient for more than a month. Since she did not work weekends, holidays or any time after 5:00 p.m. I would have to miss a day of work to meet with her. We finally scheduled a weekday in November when I was off from work.

Two weeks before my appointment, the psychiatrist called to reschedule. I asked if we could meet the day after Thanksgiving, but, of course, that was her time off as well. I asked about the week of Christmas, but she was off. We then settled for a day in April — eight months after I had originally tried to book an appointment.

The following day, I became desperate. As I drove to work every morning, I thought about just driving off the highway. I was drafting my suicide note in my head. I sat in the front seat of my car and cried before I could fully compose myself and walk into the building with the same mask I had worn throughout most of my life.

A few days later, the psychiatrist called with availability. I had to leave work a little early, but at least I wasn’t missing the entire day, so I reluctantly accepted.

I was unnerved about meeting with my first psychiatrist, and this woman was not one to ease those nerves. She was blunt and hostile. She spoke disparagingly and critically. I appeared to be just another onerous patient — not someone for whom she genuinely cared.

MoreLaughing Actually Has Some Health Benefits — No Joke

I began to accept that this was my doctor, and if I wanted to get better, I’d have to do what she said. I believed that she was always right and I was always wrong. When I expressed my true feelings, she said that I was lying or exaggerating the truth.

When she adjusted my medications, I felt numb and lethargic, yet she would always attribute those feelings to lack of sleep even though I was sleeping more than eight hours per night.

Not only did my new doctor not listen to me, but she actually bullied me. At the start of one session, she asked me why I said my weekend wasn’t great, but when I started to explain, she interjected and disparagingly said, “You need to know the difference with your doctors. I’m your psychiatrist, not your therapist. I only deal with your medications. If you want to discuss your problems, you’ll have to go next door.”

Feeling insulted, I quietly acquiesced and sat on the couch as she judged and criticized everything I said.

Several times, she had asked me about my social life, but when I explained to her that I had a fallout with my friends, she forced me to take out my phone and text them to hang out. I told her that I didn’t feel comfortable doing that, but she was relentless. I was not leaving that room until I had texted my friends and made plans for the weekend.

As I had suspected, my ex-friends were not forgiving. They used that opportunity to provide every reason for their visceral hatred of me. At one of my lowest moments, my ex-friends had successfully managed to break an already broken human being.

I began to think more and more about death. As I researched various methods for successfully terminating my life, I justified everything with that one remark from the start of my therapy treatments: “If you don’t have anything to look forward to, then what’s the point of living?”

I continued with my monthly psychiatry sessions just to fill the time. As my doctor noticed that I was becoming more detached, she threatened me with mental institutions. By this time, I was inured to such threats.

More: The Link Between Hay Fever & Mental Health

If anyone had succeeded with destroying me, it was my first psychiatrist.

I didn’t know that it was unusual for a psychiatrist to make me feel that way. I didn’t know that psychiatrists could be compassionate human beings who would adjust their schedules for your accommodation. I didn’t know that psychiatrists would talk you through your suicidal ideations without forcing you to be institutionalized.

After a brief stay in a psychiatric ward along with some futile group/outpatient therapy sessions (commiserating with other suicidal individuals isn’t exactly the best cure for depression), I finally found the compassionate doctors who devote themselves to my well-being.

I can honestly say that I am no longer a self-loathing individual whose feelings were once affirmed by a psychiatrist — the very person intended to provide relief.

But as my new psychiatrist says, “Finding the right therapist is like dating — you have to try them all 'til you find that perfect match.”

Having made a full recovery, I’ve enrolled in a graduate school program for mental health counseling.

I can’t promise to be everyone’s “perfect match,” but I can guarantee I'll be unflagging in my efforts to offer relief.

So, in retrospect, I did learn something from my first psychiatrist. She is everything that I will not be.
