Why do I need to give my kid a bunch of little small things that will just wind up forgotten and under the couch anyway?

Well, I’ve finally seen the light.

The magic of stockings

Stockings are marvelous. They are full of magic — especially for parents. This is why.

On Christmas morning, when the kids wake up way, way, way too early because they are so excited that it is Christmas, you can enlist the help of the stockings.

The more you pack in there the more time the stocking will buy you. And if you individually wrap each item it makes it much more fun for them and lengthens your moments of sleep.

More: The best bedtime for kids, revealed

I’ve found that it doesn’t have to be filled with a bunch of junk either. If it is wrapped, it will be fun to open. Some things we’ve done have been oranges, breakfast cereal bars, fruit leathers, other snacks or treats, toothbrush, socks, underwear, pens, markers, crayons and other art supplies and even individually wrapped coins.

In full disclosure, in our family, the kids bring the stockings into our room and open them on our bed so we can watch them open everything. So it’s not exactly sleeping in... but still.

Staying in bed a little bit longer? Best Christmas present ever. Stockings are awesome.

That’s right, all you Real Housewives lovers. There are rumors swirling that the next home for the Bravo franchise will likely be the great state of Texas. A source close to the reality show told Us Weekly the next city will probably be Dallas.

"All of the filming has been done, and it will be announced soon," this insider says.

On Thursday, Doute Instagrammed a photo of herself sitting in a hospital bed with her face covered and a photo of an IV in her arm with the caption, “Just because you don't remember it doesn't mean it didn’t happen! How I spent my #pumprules premiere"

If you think the photo looks pretty serious, it is. So much so that fans immediately began questioning the image, jumping to conclusions because of her sarcastic caption. The wildfire pace the comments were coming in caused Doute to amend her original post. She added the addendum, "for those of you who like to jump to negative conclusions, I’ll clear up my sarcasm. I had reconstructive surgery due to multiple fractures that happened a few weeks ago. Coincidence was crazy and my surgery was the premiere day."

Yikes.

So I’m sure you are wondering how Doute ended up with multiple fracture to her face, right?

A source close to Doute told E! News, "she fell out of an Über." Double yikes. “She’s very accident prone. It was just bad luck, she’ll be fine.”

Not to be put out by something as minor as a little fractured face, Doute used the bruises to her advantage, dressing as Rocky Balboa for Halloween. She posted a snap of her at a costume party with the caption, "the black eye is real, the rest are just accessories."

Step it Up: Traci Young-Byron's 5 hottest hairstyles

Traci Braid

1. Rocking a headband.

Not every woman can rock a headband, but accessorizing is clearly Young-Byron's forte. For those who do wear headbands, the accessory is usually the most colorful part of any given hairstyle. This is certainly not the case for Young-Byron; her headband is muted compared to her hair!

2. Sleek, with purple streaks.

This may be the closest Young-Byron has had to a "normal" hairdo in recent history. Like the rest of her looks, this style stands out, but in a much different way than her usual high-top. Of course, Young-Byron would be remiss if she were to leave purple out, which is why she made a point of including a few colorful streaks in her hair.

3. The Supa-Braid.

This may not be a look frequently seen on Step it Up, but fans hope that Young-Byron and her distinctive braid will make an appearance sooner than later. Until then, they will have to make do with this memorable social media update, in which Young-Byron advised her followers to #bedifferent.

4. Any color that's not burgundy.

It is very unusual to see Young-Byron without some shade of pink or purple in her hair. One color that will definitely not be featured in the near future? Burgundy! During tonight's episode of Step it Up, Young-Byron was not happy when her beloved hairstylist suggested burgundy as a possible new shade. According to Young-Byron, burgundy is reserved for old ladies. It's definitely not an appropriate color for a supa dance teacher! Young-Byron is by no means the only person who takes issue with this hue; multiple fans expressed their disdain on Twitter:

5. The standard high-top.

Young-Byron can rock a wide variety of colors and styles, but her go-to look is the most eye-catching of them all. She absolutely adores the high-top, as she admitted in a previous interview with SheKnows. This is the look Young-Byron most frequently returns to for major events, and it's also the style seen in many of her interview clips.

Fans love seeing Young-Byron's constantly-changing hairstyles — and one has a new idea for making Step it Up that much more interesting:

British woman dies from drinking soda with her anti-anxiety medicine

Experts have been warning consumers about the dangers of drinking soda on your health, but it's done little to curb the public's love of fizzy colas. Drinking it in moderation is fine, but one woman overdid it — and it ended up taking her life.

More: Research shows taking 10,000 steps a day could help us live longer

According to Metro.co.uk, 38-year-old Victoria Lane died from an overdose of the anti-anxiety medication fluoxetine. The medication — often sold under the name Prozac and Serafem — was prescribed to Lane after a car accident caused paranoia, and she cured the common side effect of dry mouth by drinking Pepsi Max.

She didn't just drink one soda, though: Doctors ruled her death as a result of "excessive ingestion of anti-depressants exacerbated by the excessive use of caffeine" because she chased her medicine with up to eight 2-liter bottles of Pepsi Max and vodka every day. The alcohol wasn't the problem, but the 1,555 milligrams of caffeine per day could have made her anxious enough to accidentally take more medicine than she needed in order to counteract it.

More: Should we be worried about dengue fever?

Lane may have overdid it when it came to the soda, but a recent study found that the excessive sugar content in soda contributes to the development of type 2 diabetes, which can in turn cause weight gain and possibly even heart attacks.

"Part of the problem is how fructose behaves in the body," said Frank Hu, professor of nutrition and epidemiology at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Fructose is metabolized in the liver where it's turned into triglycerides that can cause insulin resistance, one of the biggest risk factors in cardiovascular disease and diabetes. "Since we rarely consume fructose in isolation, the major source of fructose in the diet comes from fructose-containing sugars, sucrose and high fructose corn syrup, in sugar-sweetened beverages."

More: Could Eminem's music help you lose weight?

So while one or two a day might be OK, don't make it a habit. And if you must drink a bunch of the carbonated beverages? Clue your doctor in so she can warn you about any possible interactions with your medications and overall health.

Grimm: 4 Theories of what Meisner has in that creepy cell

$

More: Grimm: Should Adalind & Nick be together, now that a baby's involved?

Seriously, what is Meisner up to? Last time we saw Meisner, he was rescuing Adalind and Renard's daughter Diana from King Frederick. Where did he go after that? Apparently, he joined forces with the now deceased Agent Chavez. It seems like they are trying to fight whatever is coming to Portland, but what is in that cell? Whatever or whoever it is, it appears to be dangerous. It almost seems like Meisner is training and/or taming it.

Until more is revealed, like who or what is behind that door, let's speculate about who or what it could be.

1. Juliette

Juliette
Image: Tumblr

Anyone else still not convinced Juliette is truly dead? Plus, Chavez and her team took her body, but where? Maybe she is alive and in that cell? Based on that ominous roar heard when Chavez looked inside, it could easily be Juliette, since she is a Hexenbiest. If it is her, what does Meisner want with her? Maybe she's more important than Grimm fans know.

2. Trubel

Trubel
Image: Tumblr

Like Juliette's body, Trubel is missing. Is she now some type of Wesen? I highly doubt that, but in the Grimm world anything is possible.

More: Grimm: Could Juliette's death mean she's off the show for good?

3. Diana

Diana
Image: Tumblr

This seems like the most likely candidate, especially since she was last seen with Meisner. Not to mention, she has a Hexenbiest mother and a Zauberbiest father, so she could easily be the thing/person in that cell. Remember, Diana grows rapidly, so maybe she is now older, more powerful and more dangerous.

4. An unknown Wesen

Hank and Wu
Image: Tumblr

During a conference call with Claire Coffee (Adalind), she revealed that there is a "brand new villainess entity" this season. Whatever Meisner is up to could most definitely involve this unknown evil.

Shark Tank fans go wild for Robert Herjavec's dance moves

Herjavec is a breath of fresh air on Shark Tank, which sometimes gets bogged down with a bit too much negativity. It's always nice to hear feedback from a guy who cares about way more than just making a whole lot of money. It's also fun to see Herjavec goofing off with his fellow Sharks and encouraging entrepreneurs of all ages and with a variety of life stories.

More: Ashton Kutcher wins new fans by sticking up for an entrepreneur on Shark Tank

Sometimes, when he's checking out a new product, Herjavec just wants to let loose. That's certainly what he did tonight on Shark Tank, particularly when he encountered a fitness product known as the Simply Fit Board.

Before Herjavec stole the show, entrepreneurs Linda Clark and Gloria Hoffman explained that the board was designed to help users lose weight  — and gain balance. Based on Mark Cuban's brief time on the board, he has terrible balance. This is definitely not true of Herjavec, who showed off a few of his finest DWTS moves while standing on the board.

Simply Fit

It was a brief moment — far shorter than the extensively rehearsed numbers that make it to the stage on Dancing with the Stars. However, a few seconds really were all that fans needed to see in order to know that Herjavec learned something during his time on DWTS.

Although he enjoyed reliving his DWTS glory days while balancing on the Simply Fit Board, Herjavec ultimately decided that there was "nothing proprietary" about the product. He was actually the first Shark to back out, although there was plenty of interest from Queen of QVC Lori Greiner and self-described QVC King Kevin O'Leary. Ultimately, Clark and Hoffman made a smart choice and opted for Greiner's excellent offer. They might not have the opportunity to see Herjavec using their product as a dance accessory on a regular basis, but with Greiner's backing, the two are bound to do well.

The Jacksons: 6 Reasons why the show should have a second season

More: The Jacksons: Fans beg 3T not to succumb to pressure

Jacksons
Image: Lifetime

1. The fate of 3T

In the season finale episode, we learned that TJ and Taryll would be stepping back from 3T, although Chapter III, their latest album, is out right now. Will their attempt at distance stick or will they go back to the group? Given all of the drama we've seen in such a short period of time concerning the future of the group, there's no telling what could happen in a second season.

2. TJ and Frances

These two are absolutely a fan-favorite couple — they've been referred to as "marriage goals" more than once on Twitter. With so much to handle — six kids between them — they're still the most grounded of the couples on the show and they're overwhelmingly supportive of one another and their children. It's nice to see such a stable relationship that's also fun to watch, especially when, um, others aren't in such great shape.

3. Breana and Taryll

The future is not looking so good for these two, even after eight years together, especially after the season finale, when Breana appalled fans with some needy and entitled behavior. Will they finally get married in a second season? Or will they go their separate ways? Let's hope something will happen to move them out of this miserable state they're in.

Jacksons

4. Kids

Blanket! Prince! Dee! Jojo! Royal! Rio! It's always great getting to see the kids on this show — they're part of what the fans love about it; the feeling that we're being invited into an intimate part of the Jacksons' lives, and that includes the kids.

5. More celebrity sightings

This season included a visit from the Kardashians, and some pretty juicy gossip surfaced about Kim Kardashian and TJ's past. There's no telling who might emerge as a friend of the family in a second season or who might pay a visit. With this crew, the possibilities are limitless.

6. More "relatives" coming out of the woodwork

"Everyone wants to be a Jackson" are words we've heard often during this short season. The brothers confronted Tanay Jackson, who claimed to be Tito's daughter, and asked her to take a DNA test, which proved that she wasn't exactly a Jackson, but nevertheless close with the family. It's unclear whether or not this season's interactions with Tanay were intended to bring more publicity to the show, but since we know how much people want to get inside the Jackson clan, a second season could only hold more potential for "family" drama.

Make-ahead breakfast strata with hearty greens and cheddar makes brunch easy

Luckily for me, breakfast doesn't have to mean hours in the kitchen. This simple dish can be prepared the night before and then just popped into the oven in the morning. Plus it's a great use for bread that is just a little stale.

Hearty greens and cheddar breakfast strata recipe

Serves 6

Prep time: 10 minutes | Inactive time: 12 hours | Cook time: 45 minutes | Total time: 12 hours 55 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 pound chopped hearty winter greens (kale, Swiss chard or mustard greens)
  • 5 eggs
  • 1-1/4 cups whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • Kosher salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese, divided
  • 4 cups 1-inch diced bread

Directions:

  1. Spray a 9 x 9-inch dish with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. To a small skillet set over medium heat, add the butter. Once the butter has melted, add in the chopped greens, and sauté quickly just to soften them. Remove from the heat, and let cool.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, Dijon mustard, kosher salt and pepper.
  4. To the bowl of eggs, add the greens, 3/4 cup of shredded cheese and the cubed bread. Stir to combine, and let the bread soak up the egg mixture for about 5 minutes.
  5. Once the mixture has been mixed and has rested, pour it into the prepared baking dish, and sprinkle the top with the remaining cheese.
  6. Cover with foil, and let rest in the fridge overnight.
  7. In the morning, heat the oven to 350 degrees F, and bake uncovered for about 45 minutes or until the mixture is toasted on top and warm in the middle.

7 Dogs who completely upstaged their owners' engagement photos

Recently a hilarious dachshund named Louie decided to take center stage in his owners' engagement photos in what turned out to be one of the most epic photobombing of all time.

Megan Determan bought Louie when he was just a puppy for her 25th birthday, and her fiancé, Chris Kluthe, didn't come into the mix until two years later. So naturally there have been some territory issues. Louie does not appreciate having to share his mom with another man.

“If I’m snuggled up with Chris, Louie has to be right in there too,” Determan told BuzzFeed. “If I’m giving Chris a back rub, Louie wants to get one at the same time. When we were practicing our first dance the other day, he sat there and barked until I picked him up.” He's probably already got his plane tickets for their honeymoon too.

Suffice it to say, when it came time for them to take their engagement photos, Louie was assured he'd get to make an appearance. However, the couple was not at all prepared for how featured he'd insist on being.

You have to give it to him — he knows how to milk those tricky movement shots. However, despite several shots being all about Louie, the couple couldn't help but love the photos they got. Determan knew he had a huge yen for leaves, so she wasn't surprised by his behavior but loved the effect his playfulness had on the photographers. They ended up pretty much giving the day to him because he won't be attending the wedding (shhh, he doesn't know that yet and definitely won't be happy about it).

While Louie's an undeniably brilliant photobomber, he's far from the only pet who's gotten between couple and camera during their engagement photo session or even on their big wedding day. Here are some other equally impressive dog hams.

My special needs sister taught me to let go of a lot of rules

$

Angela is 39 years old, so we always have a huge range of emotions to deal with. She is my sister, but we both treat her like our daughter. She is a very capable person, but we deal with the daily tasks of what every other parent in the world has to do and remind her of tasks such as: brushing her hair, making sure her shoes are on the right feet, reminding her to wipe herself and wash her hands after using the bathroom, making sure she properly brushes her teeth, help wash behind her ears, picking her clothes for the day and for sleeping in, and doing our best to make sure that her hair resembles that of one of her many favorite Nick and Nick Jr. TV show characters. Do you really know how much hairspray that takes? We do!

Before she moved in, Stephen and I came up with a huge list of rules... as most parents do: no cussing — she does enough of that on her own when having a meltdown; nothing but organic, healthy eating; balanced meals; not too much TV and the list goes on and on. Before you knew it, we decided to let her eat cake and pie for breakfast. Not always, but once in a while.

You see, Angela is not supposed to be alive today and is a walking medical miracle. She isn't supposed to be alive — but she is. The first time she asked if she could have a cupcake for breakfast, we were like, "Hell no! You need to eat something healthy and good for you!"

Over the next few months, we changed our minds. We wondered how many times she was told "no" before. I mean, haven't we all eaten something for breakfast that's out of the norm when we just craved something special? Angela is a little bit relentless when she's determined. It's part of her mental disability, but she will ask you something over and over until she gets the answer that she wants — or until she understands what we're truly trying to say to her. The day came that we caved. She gave the biggest smile that you could ever possibly see. Her eyes widened so much we thought her eyes were going to pop out of her head.

She was able to eat a cupcake for breakfast. Okay, maybe we let her eat two. That's beside the point — don't judge us. Sometimes in life, we have to break a rule or two to have balance. It's okay to color outside of the lines every once in a while, to make life a little more interesting and spread a few smiles.

'Thankful' gilded pumpkins — simple and elegant DIY Thanksgiving decor

Gilded pumpkin DIY
Image: Amy Vowles/SheKnows

Cute miniature pumpkins are in abundance this time of year. Pick up a handful of them the next time you are at the store and turn them into a glistening craft for your home this Thanksgiving. The supplies are simple: 8 mini pumpkins, some metallic gilding sheets, gilding adhesive and a couple of paint brushes. I love the Martha Stewart brand of gilding supplies.

Gilded pumpkin DIY
Image: Amy Vowles/SheKnows

Grab a pen or pencil and plan out your letters. You can freehand the lettering, or use a stencil like I did.

Gilded pumpkin DIY
Image: Amy Vowles/SheKnows

If you decide to use a stencil, connect any gaps in the lettering to minimize the stenciled appearance. Don't worry if your outline looks a little messy — everything will be covered up by the gold gilding by the time you are done.

Gilded pumpkin DIY
Image: Amy Vowles/SheKnows

Use a small paint brush to fill in the letters with the gilding adhesive. Apply a generous amount of adhesive, but not so much that it drips or runs. Let the adhesive dry until it turns clear before applying the gilding.

Gilded pumpkin DIY
Image: Amy Vowles/SheKnows

Gently lay the gilding sheets across the top of the adhesive and smooth it out. The instructions on my gilding supplies said to use special gloves for this step, but I got along just fine without them, just handle the sheets gently with clean, dry hands.

Gilded pumpkin DIY
Image: Amy Vowles/SheKnows

Remove the sheet, then use a soft-bristle paint brush to gently brush away any excess gilding. It is unlikely that the lettering will be completely filled in with the first layer, so repeat the gilding process by applying more adhesive and gilding until the lettering is completely filled in.

Gilded pumpkin DIY
Image: Amy Vowles/SheKnows

Once you are happy with the look of the gilding on each of your pumpkins, your new Thanksgiving decoration is ready to display in your home.

How to make "Thankful" gilded pumpkin decor

Supplies:

  • Miniature pumpkins
  • Gilding adhesive
  • Gold gilding sheets
  • Soft-bristle paint brushes
  • Pen or pencil
  • Stencil (optional)

Directions:

  1. Draw letters on each of the pumpkins to spell out the word "thankful." Connect any gaps in the lettering if you are using a stencil.
  2. Fill in the letters using a paint brush and some gilding adhesive. Let the adhesive dry until it is tacky.
  3. Gently lay the gilding sheets over the adhesive.
  4. Use a soft-bristle paint brush to gently brush away any excess gilding.
  5. Repeat steps 2 through 4 until the lettering is completely filled in with the gilding.
  6. Display your new Thanksgiving decoration.

The 29-year-old amateur baker spent 30 hours on her royal masterpiece, and won a gold award from the Cake International judges

It's not the first gold award for Lara, who in previous years won for her cake reproductions of Jennifer Lawrence as her Hunger Games character Katniss Everdeen and Johnny Depp as onscreen pirate Captain Jack Sparrow.

"The feedback from the judges was they loved what I did," she told BBC News. "But they wanted to see what I could do on a smaller scale because when it's life sized and you put it on the table, they can't see all the smaller details and the most important part on a human sculpture is a face. I thought I'd do a child. He's the most famous child in the world and especially cute as well and very, very current."

Julie Yoon, Bits and Pieces

Chef Julie Yoon, The Pitch at #BlogHerFood15
Image: SheKnows

Julie is a trained chef and food stylist. During the recession, she "turned her brain to cooking with what was on hand" by necessity. From that challenge, she launched a blog (Chef Julie Yoon) and a YouTube cooking show called Bits & Pieces.

Her show helps anyone cook healthy, affordable meals using ingredients you already have in the kitchen. Her recipes are easy and fun. "I just want to be a friend hanging out in the kitchen with you," she said. Her goal is to inspire "kitchen confidence" and to be "the chef next door." Judge Katie Ford of Starcom Mediavest told Julie that both of those are powerful taglines she can use to her advantage.

Caitlin believes that vegans everywhere deserve delicious, preservative-free food. Feed Your Head sells vegan meats, cheeses and sauces online; her other company, Pirate Pastries, makes Chicagoans happy with killer baked goods (soon available online, too).

Judge Luvvie Ajayi of The Red Pump Project (a #BlogHer15 Pitch finalist), told Caitlin, "You have to not assume that people will know that vegan food is actually very versatile." Caitlin agreed: "I'm really all about delicious food… We think everyone should eat what they want to eat—but also our food."

Love With Food is a snack subscription box that delivers healthy snacks for $9 a month—and helps feed children in need by donating to food banks. Each box has eight to 10 snacks. They're all in single-serving portions, so picky eaters can try new flavors each month.

"Everyone has the right to eat well. All of us have the power to give a little back to those in need. It was risky to leave my job to start Love With Food, but I chose love over fear, and I hope you will too," Aihui said, saying her box helps people "snack smart and do good."

Emcee Ellen Gustafson, an author and social entrepreneur, told Aihui, "I love that your business boils down the massive issue of how we eat and how it's connected to problems like hunger, and brings it into someone's home. This is the way other food companies are going to be involved in things like hunger, eventually."

"Getting the family together at dinner, it's hard," she said. "We're giving back to moms. We want to employ moms, who had kids and now can't get jobs." Catherine also works with LA Kitchen, which supports foster kids aging out of institutions by teaching them how to get a job in the food industry.

Judge Lea Ann Leming, Chief Content Officer for SheKnows, asked about the most popular meals: mu shu chicken and fettucine Bolognese. "We're trying to expand kids' palates," Catherine said. "We're not trying to dumb down food. Lots of companies miss the mark there."

On Saturday evening, the judges' rankings were combined with the popular vote on Twitter, and the winner of The Pitch: Food Edition was Aihui Ong. She'll receive a prize package of $100,000 worth of marketing, media and promotional support from SheKnows Media, and each participant will receive a marketing and content brainstorm session to help them reach their goals in 2016.

Smart ways to stay a sane and happy food blogger

Whether you've been blogging for one month or five years, you've probably experienced it. You start your blog, come out the gate strong, tell yourself that you're going to blog every single day, and then at about day three, your motivation tanks.

After picking up the pieces, you start again, fully recharged. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Don't get discouraged just yet. There's hope. With this very smart advice from five successful food bloggers who have collectively been at it for decades, you can avoid the dreaded blogger burnout.

Here's what Michael Procopio, Elise Bauer, Irvin Lin, Sabrina Modelle and Jaden Hair had to say at #BlogHerFood15 about achieving long-term blogger happiness. Listen up; they know their stuff.

On the secrets to their success

First things first, Elise hit the nail on the head: "We have to acknowledge that what we do is really hard and overwhelming." She also says she has realized, after a change in Google's algorithm and big traffic drop on her blog, that you can't let the things you can't control affect you. "I couldn't let external factors impact my internal peace. I'm just going to choose to be happy."

Sometimes you have to change the way you look at success. "I've come to realize that change is OK. Stats, money and growth was my measurement of success," Jaden says. A couple years ago, she realized that she needed to change the way she was looking at success. She stopped looking at stats and doing social media. "And that made me happy!"

It's easy to get in a rut. Irvin says, "Sometimes you forget why you started a blog in the first place. I'll go to the kitchen and just my make food. I don't take notes. I don't share it on social media. And it revitalizes me."

Michael has similar advice. "If I'm not feeling it, I just back away. I go outside, I see friends… I forgot at some point that I had friends in the real world, and not just online. I was running out of ammunition for personal essays because I wasn't living my life."

"Identify what sucks the life out of you and what makes you happy." The things that suck the life out of you "just aren't worth it," Elise says, "and I'm not going to do it."

"We get on a hamster wheel of things we 'need' to do," Sabrina says. "If you're not being authentic and not honoring yourself, it comes across. And that won't make most people happy long-term."

On social media

The general consensus amongst the group: Find social media that's fun, not the ones that feel like an obligation. If it's not making you happy, don't do it. Elise elaborates, "It's OK not to do every single social media. If Pinterest bugs the crap out of you, stay away from it."

Take a break. Sabrina says, "Fasts from social media, even a week or two, is (sic) an amazing thing. When I get back on, I'm recalibrated."

For those with smaller blogs who are nervous about taking a break from social media, Jaden recommends "promoting your blog and message via traditional media — print and publications that fit your market. Leverage their media." Another option — Elise advises starting an email list. "You get a core of people that continues to grow."

On staying positive

"It's hard to just say 'don't be jealous [of other blogs],'" Jaden says. "If I feel that tinge of jealously coming on, I need to rationalize and back myself off." She also says that having a dream board made a huge difference for her. "Graciousness" is in the middle and it brings her back to reality.

Irvin says that sometimes he just takes a break. "There were weeks I didn't post, and that's OK."

Sabrina agrees, "Nothing happens if you don't post for a week or a month. Your blog will still be there… and your readers will support you." And another great tip: "Be gentle and kind to yourself if you feel like you can't keep up. Treat yourself like a friend."

On staying motivated

Snapchat! Elise says, "I can create content with Snapchat without being in front of a computer. It's fun. I don't feel overwhelmed at all. I want to do more of that stuff that's really fun."

Irvin recommends trying NaBloPoMo. "It lets me experiment a little more."

Michael writes for himself. "My blog is a selfish blog, and that makes me happy," he says.

On negative comments

"I view someone coming to my blog as a visitor in my home," Michael says. "And if they are mean to me or any other commenters, I will let them have it."

Elise has a different approach: "Privately make fun of them and delete it. You can't argue with the crazies. Whatever you do, don't let them make you feel bad."

New type of nail polish can make your perfect manicure dreams come true

My right hand usually looks perfect (I'm a lefty), but when I try to use my right hand to do my left... well, let's say a toddler just learning to color has an easier time staying inside the lines than I do.

More: Now your nails can smell like pumpkin spice lattes, too

And then if I do manage to get even nails? I inevitably ruin them by not waiting long enough for them to fully dry. It's a constant web of frustration, but the brains behind Nails Inc. have heard my cries and have apparently come up with the answer in the form of spray-on nail polish.

Yes: nail polish, in an aerosol can, that you spray on.

More: Harmful chemical in nail polish found to actually be absorbed by our bodies

"But Meagan, won't that just make a terrible mess on your hands?" Glad you asked. Nails Inc. says that the Paint Can Spray is "the world's fastest manicure" and only takes 20 seconds to apply. There's no mess because it's designed to stick to your base coat, so any excess can be easily wiped off your skin.

Paint Can Spray will come in two colors initially — pink and silver — and will only be available in the U.K. right now. Those of us in the United States will have to wait until spring 2016 to get our mitts on the stuff.

Until then, I'll continue to practice my nail polish application technique, but let's face it: I've been doing this for almost three decades and it's not getting any better. Please, Nails Inc., help save my nails!

The hardest Beauty and the Beast quiz you'll ever take

One of the many reasons why I count Beauty and the Beast among my all-time favorites is because I feel that of all the Disney princesses, I relate to Belle's character the most. I am a bookworm, a dreamer, a little bit socially odd to some, and I try to give even the grimmest situations positive energy. That, and I would kill for a guy who would gift me an entire library!

So if you love Beauty and the Beast, let's see how well you know the many characters Belle meets on her adventure. Name who said the quote and see how well you know the enchanted castle!

ARIES (March 20-April 19)

Your ruling planet Mars enters Libra on Nov. 12. Libra is the zodiac sign of partnerships and marriage. If you're single, then you won't be for long. You'll soon find your perfect match. If you're already spoken for, then your relationship will become much more serious and committed. Headstrong and single-minded, you'll have to learn to play nicely while Mars is in Libra. This will bring out sides of you that you didn't even know existed. You can think of it as a cosmic version of sensitivity training. Mars will be in Libra from Nov. 12 to Jan. 3.

Social media has done a lot to remove the barriers of time and space. Relationship possibilities that were unimaginable years ago are now just an instant message away. This will become clear on Nov. 10 when you hear from someone you haven't seen in ages or begin messaging back and forth with some dude who lives halfway around the world. Usually this would just amount to recreational flirting, but the sun/Jupiter sextile shows that there may be more to it especially since Jupiter is the planet of long distances. You could even make plans to meet before the month is out.

The embargo on your love life lifts when Venus sextiles Saturn on Nov. 13. This won't remove the barrier that Saturn, the planet of trials and tribulations, has imposed on you but it will bring relief. This could materialize as a quick reunion, a brief love affair or the consummation of pent-up feelings that promises joy and further complications. Nobody knows why Saturn is giving you such a hard time in the romance department. Maybe it's to teach you the value of quality over quantity or maybe it's to deepen your appreciation for something you blithely took for granted.

Does unrequited love ever become requited? That's what you'll be wondering on the 10th when the sun/Jupiter sextile reintroduces an old crush back into your life. But people's horoscopes can be stubbornly fixed in their own peculiar way. For instance the circumstances that barred you from getting together in the first place may be gone only to be replaced by another set of circumstances that are just as daunting. This could be discouraging or you may find that you are both better prepared this time around to rise to the challenge and to do what it takes to be together.

You can't do loved ones' emotional homework for them and that's the hardest part about what's going on now. You want to shake them by the shoulders and tell them to get a clue, but that's not going to happen. It's often been said that experience is the best teacher which is why you have to step out of the way and let your nearest and dearest learn from their own mistakes. Thankfully the new moon in Scorpio on Nov. 11 gives you the strength to stand by them at a time when they can't stand by themselves.

You have this uncanny knack for finding the one guy in the room who's recently divorced, recovering from a broken heart or who's here in the country on a visa. Are you unlucky in love? Hardly. Being drawn to unavailable men allows you to have your cake and to eat it too without worrying about the cleanup. Think of it as your psychic default function aimed at self-preservation and autonomy. You can turn it off and switch to relationship mode if you like, but that all depends on where you are vis-à-vis your self-confidence and earning power.

The good thing about Mars in Libra is that you won't sit around waiting for love to come to you. That's because Mars is the planet of gumption and drive in astrology. When it locks its sights on what it wants, then it will jump up and run after it. This planetary energy will push you to get off your tuckus and to chase down your quarry. It will also outfit you with sharp elbows so that you can take out the competition. It's not what you're used to but the guys will think it's hot.

So what's that secret about the guy you're seeing that you can't tell anyone else? Is it really as dark as all that? It's a question worth asking when Mars is traveling through that part of your solar chart that pertains to skeletons in the closet. Sometimes a secret really is a secret and it should be respected. And sometimes secrets can be used to drive a wedge between you and your friends. If you feel like he's taking you into his confidence — great. But if you feel like he's being manipulative, then get out while the getting's good.

A friendship takes an interesting turn when Venus forms a sextile to Saturn on Nov. 13. Interestingly enough it's not really the physical attraction that brings you together as much as it's the shared experience. Maybe he's also getting out of a bad relationship, emerging from the other side of a messy divorce or feeling burnt out and like life is passing him by. Sound familiar given what you've been through recently? Commiseration loves company and since nobody knows what it's like to be in his shoes more than you do now: Why not enjoy it while it lasts?

CAPRICORN (Dec. 21-Jan. 19)

You need to learn to accept compliments gracefully. Most people feel flattered when somebody says something nice. They're happy to receive recognition and praise. You, on the other hand, feel a moral obligation to list all the things that are wrong with you. This isn't a good idea because it sends the message that you don't want to be noticed when in truth you're starved for affection. Try to practice saying "thank you" to yourself in the bathroom mirror for five minutes every day. It will help you to keep from wincing when you receive an outpouring of affection on Nov. 13.

It's hard to talk about your personal needs without sounding like you're reading aloud from a list of ingredients printed on the side of a cereal box. This might tell people what's inside, but they don't really get a flavor for what it is. Intimacy isn't easy for people born during the winter months. You're not cold. You just don't think that people understand you. Open up and invite that person you like to dig around inside. He'll be glad to see you opening up to him. And who knows? He may even unearth a toy surprise.

PISCES (Feb. 18-March 19)

People born under Pisces are famous for pulling disappearing acts. This isn't always physical. It can be emotional too. This might explain why you're getting so much grief and aggravation from loved ones and friends lately. They may feel like you're not around even when you say you are. At first this might seem ridiculous. You're a deeply compassionate and giving person. Yet there is such a thing as being sympathetic on the inside while appearing checked out on the outside. People don't want more from you; they're just asking you to be present in their lives.

Photographer posts rant on how guests are ruining wedding pictures

One of those places is a wedding ceremony.

Sure, weddings are meant for celebration — and provide for many tipsy photo opportunities — but most of the time the photos are taken during the reception, not the actual nuptials. Well, that's how it used to be.

More: Alberta couple has the most Canadian wedding we've ever seen (PHOTO)

These days, well-intending guests are snapping photo after photo as the couple says "I do" and it's making it that much more difficult for the official photographer to get the right shots.

And one photographer's had enough.

Australian wedding photographer Thomas Stewart posted a long rant on Facebook to implore couples to have a "completely unplugged wedding ceremony."

Thomas Stewart Facebook Rant

He used a recent photo as an example of the problem.

"Look at this photo. This groom had to lean out past the aisle just to see his bride approaching. Why? Because guests with their phones were in the aisle and in his way," he wrote.

"This sucks. And i’m [sic] not blaming these guests in particular; I actually take a large amount of responsibility for this occurring. In the past I should have been more specific with my clients in explaining to them why guests should be told no photos. Well, from now on, I’m going to make a pretty big deal about it."

Stewart goes on to explain exactly why it's a problem, including the biggest one: It can straight-up ruin ceremony.

"Imagine you’re in the middle of your wedding ceremony. You’re elated. You decide to take a quick glance towards your guests as you’re sure they’re sharing these happy moments with you, possibly even shedding a tear of their own," he wrote. "What do you see? NO FACES AT ALL AS THEY ARE ALL HIDDEN BEHIND PHONES AND CAMERAS! I highly doubt this is the way you want to remember your wedding ceremony."

He's hoping to start a no-technology trend at weddings.

"Write it on a chalkboard which guests can see as they arrive on the day," he wrote. "Tell your celebrant / minister / priest to tell the guests at the start of the ceremony. HIRE A PLANE TO WRITE IT IN THE SKY!"
