3 Awesome things you'll never see on Discovery Channel again

Ross, who was formerly a Disney executive, wants to rein in some of Discovery's more fantastical shows, focusing instead on realism. Translation: So long mega-sharks, mermaids and man-eating snakes.

More: Man vs. Wild gets fired: Bear Grylls is out

"Brands are all about trust," Ross said during an interview on Thursday. "You can expand the universe of what people think you are, but there's only so much elasticity. On Discovery, that's why I talk about authenticity. Authenticity is job No. 1, 2 and 3."

These fanciful tales bring in lots of great ratings for the show, but not a lot of support from the scientific community, according to Fox News. Animal rights activists weren't fans of the "Eaten Alive" premise that suggested an explorer had been swallowed by a giant anaconda. The truth wasn't as dramatic as the show had depicted. Other shows the network has done recently that have received criticism include Shark Week features called "documentaries" about megalodons and programs about a suspected Russian yeti.

More: 7 Shark-riffic ways to prep for Shark Week

Ross took the interview to declare his no more bullshit policy for the network.

"It's not whether I'm a fan of it," he explained. "I don't think it's actually right for Discovery Channel and it's something that I think has, in some ways, run its course."

But Ross' plans for future content has me nervous. The fantastical plots of some of the shows are extremely interesting and any educated viewer is going to know to take these things with a grain of salt. The programs are openly sensational. Opinions about life should be based on having a full view of knowledge and understanding of the world, even with suggestions that sometimes don't make sense in the broader context of the world, but people still choose to believe. Limiting that because the network doesn't want to seem too "out there" makes me feel like I'm being cheated.

More: Shark Week bonus! Did you know…

Furthermore, Ross has some ideas to replace this fantastical content that I just don't think will sell well on the network, like a scripted show and more shows that look at history. (We have a History Channel for a reason.) Also according to Fox News, Ross is anxious to consider "projects about episodes in history that echo what is happening in the world today.

"Wouldn't it be amazing if we could tell stories that are actually indicative of behaviors and situations and see if we can alter them in a positive way?" he asked. "That's my kind of interactive — make people care."

Do you think Ross' new ideas for Discovery will work?

Try Chipotle's new spicy tofu and get rewarded with a free burrito!

According to Chipotle's website, Sofritas are made with "organic tofu from Hodo Soy that we shred and then braise with chipotle chilis, roasted poblanos, and a blend of aromatic spices. The result is a delicious, spicy tofu that will give vegans and carnivores something they both will love."

If you try a Sofrita — a burrito, taco, bowl, whatever! — on Jan. 26, you can then use your receipt to get any entrée free between Jan. 27 and Feb. 28.

chipotle sofritas

I can personally vouch for the Sofrita burrito. I tried it when Chipotle first launched Sofritas, and the spicy, savory mixture is really the bomb. Vegetarians and vegans will be especially happy to have another option at the ubiquitous burrito chain, and it's hearty (and non-tofuy, if that's a thing) enough that meat eaters will enjoy it too.

So mark your calendars for Monday, Jan. 26. Free food is always worth making time for.

Jennifer Love Hewitt is pregnant again and expecting her second child with her husband, actor Brian Hallisay. The couple have a 13-month-old daughter named Autumn James together.

Although the 35-year-old actress made the announcement through her rep, who said they are "thrilled to be expecting their second child later this year," we checked out Hewitt's Twitter feed to see how she was gearing up to welcome baby No. 2.

Hewitt, who quit Twitter in 2013 due to "all the negativity people choose to send on Twitter as well as threats to their own well being," has tentatively dipped her toe back into the social media platform. She posted this selfie in September before appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

She has yet to post a picture of her daughter Autumn, but did tweet about her love for KicKee Pants and, "How comfy they have made my daughter since she was born."

2015 Golden Globes: Were the winners for Best Picture accidentally released?

Movie buffs perusing the awards website today noticed something strange: Two movies listed as 2014 winners are actually 2015 nominees. See for yourself:

Golden Globe winners

More: Golden Globes: Bill Cosby and Sony aren't safe from Tina Fey

It looks like a Golden Globes web developer was probably doing some mock-ups ahead of Sunday's show and either was just testing something out with randomly selected nominees, or we've just been given a major heads-up that Selma will take home the win for Best Motion Picture, Drama, and Into The Woods for Best Motion Picture, Comedy. Whatever happened, it was obviously a major oops — not only would the Globes never want to leak the winners early, but the photos listed with each were still from the 2014 winners (12 Years a Slave and American Hustle, respectively).

The Golden Globes team eventually caught wind of the big boo-boo and changed the site back to list only the 2014 winners, but it does make you wonder… While Selma is a favorite to take the win not just at the Globes but the Oscars as well, could Into The Woods really beat out category favorite Birdman?

Just in case, Anna Kendrick had better start practicing her faux-surprised face.

Kate Middleton turns 33: How does a pregnant princess spend her birthday?

$

1. Kate celebrated her big 3-0 with a private party at Kensington Palace. While neither Will nor Kate have ever been huge partiers (at least not of Prince Harry proportions), this was a milestone birthday and Kate's first as a royal, so we're sure that "quiet dinner" included some razzle-dazzle and at least a few gin and tonics (said to be a fave of the queen). This year Kate can replace her G&T with some sparkling water and make Will rub her feet in between rounds of Pictionary as pals draw only and exactly what she tells them to. Then she wins when she guesses everything right.

Prince Harry Kate Middleton

2. Kate was pregnant with Prince George when she turned 31, and Prince William treated her and her family to a Cirque du Soleil show at Royal Albert Hall. She's pregnant again this year, and with a toddler around it can be difficult and exhausting to get out of the house. So instead, William could round up all of Harry's ex-girlfriends and make them perform a Yorkshire-pudding wrestling grudge match for Kate's amusement (our money's on Cressie).

Duchess of Cambridge

3. William could arrange to have all of Kate's jewels — including those stunning diamond-and-emerald earrings she wore during the couple's recent trip to New York — pulled out of the vault and placed in the Buckingham Palace pool (emptied of water of course) and she can dive into them, Scrooge McDuck-style. Exercise is important during pregnancy.

4. Kate has a few appearances coming up: naming an art room at a primary school on Jan. 15, a charity event on Jan. 16 and opening a school on Jan. 19. She is most definitely rocking a noticeable baby bump at this point, as the newest royal is thought to be due in April, and wouldn't you know, all of her old maternity clothes are just out of season? Birthday shopping spree! We'd love to see the Duchess rocking something that hugs her bump this time around.

Pippa Middleton

5. Kate is said to be a keen cyclist and sometimes dons a bike helmet and sunnies while riding around London incognito. It's a bit chilly in Piccadilly this time of year, and we'd hate for Kate to have a mishap on the ice, so instead she can race George (he on his Big Wheels trike) up and down the halls of Kensington Palace until Pippa insists on joining them and ruins it for everyone because she's practically a pro cyclist and can't you just let a girl win a race on her own birthday?

More: Kate Middleton throws major side-eye at pushy NYC grandma (VIDEO)

6. Will and Kate have said they are huge Downton Abbey fans, a show which, compared to their lives, must seem to be about desperately poor people eking out a miserable existence in a squalid country shack. What better way to spend a birthday than binge-watching the peasants, then turning it off to return to their real life of unimaginable luxury.

Duchess of Cambridge

7. Kate's hair is hypnotic under normal circumstances, but Kate's pregnancy birthday hair will literally blind you if you look at it too long. It's not just Kate's birthday — it's her hair's birthday too, and it deserves a treat. We suggest a gentle shampoo with a unicorn tear rinse followed by a blowout using the breath of a thousand angels instead of a hair dryer.

Jon Hamm, Ethan Hawke fight over one woman: Who is Anne V. Coates?

On Wednesday night at Hollywood hot spot Chateau Marmont, Hamm was so taken with Coates that he got down on one knee and caused the rest of the establishment patrons to shout "Proposal!" according to TMZ. Hamm willingly obliged.

Who is this person who's entranced both Hamm and Hawke, and how do we not know who she is? You may not recognize Coates' face or name, but there's a darn good chance you know her work.

The 89-year-old Brit has been a Hollywood staple since she began her career as a film editor in 1952 and has worked on more than 53 films since, according to IMDB. Coates left her job as a nurse at a pioneering plastic surgery hospital in England to pursue her dream of becoming a director, but she ended up finding her passion in the cutting room.

More: What made Bess Myerson different from any other Miss America

She won an Oscar for Best Film Editing for the iconic Lawrence of Arabia in 1963, and she won the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007. Coates also garnered Academy Award nominations for Best Film Editing for the movies Becket, The Elephant Man, In the Line of Fire and Out of Sight.

She edited classic favorites What About Bob? starring Bill Murray, Chaplin, starring Robert Downey Jr. and Erin Brockovich, which scored Julia Roberts her Best Actress Oscar.

Editors are truly the unsung heroes of film. It doesn't matter how amazing the acting or directing may be; if the editing isn't brilliant, the movie is pretty much doomed. Coates is not only a gifted editor, but she also blazed the trail for powerful women in an industry dominated by men.

"In a way, I've never looked at myself as a woman in the business," Coates said in an interview in 2000. "I've just looked at myself as an editor. I mean, I'm sure I've been turned down because I'm a woman, but then other times I've been used because they wanted a woman editor," she added. "I just think, 'I'm an editor,' and I never expected to get paid less because I am a woman. I grew up with three brothers, and I never thought I would get paid less for anything than they did."

15 Super-sexist things Disneyland's Gaston says

$

Ah, yes. No one brags like Gaston, no one gloats like Gaston, no one reduces women to sexist clichés like Gaston. Just do a cursory search for "Disney Gaston" on YouTube and you'll be rewarded with more than a few shining examples of his unique breed of machismo. Like these 15, uh, real winners we gleaned.

1. "Do you just like talking to me from over there or do you want to come visit, too? If it's too much manliness, it's all right."

2. "You're a girl — you should never have more than one thing on your mind."

3. "This girl has challenged Gaston for the championship of arm wrestling in my village!"

4. "If I'd have done that to you, you'd still be passed out from swooning."

5. "I don't even know where this girl came from, but somebody needs to put her back in a kitchen right now."

6. "Go ahead — smile like you're making me a sandwich."

7. "Girl, go do what you're meant to do in life — bake."

8. "Do you think you're strong enough to keep her away from books? If she reads, she'll never give you a foot massage."

9. "Just go stare at my statue for awhile and come to your senses."

10. "I've been outdone by a girl... a short one."

11. "I do love speechlessness — it's a great quality in a woman."

12. "Look at his worthless boots! I want you massaging his feet. Over there on my statues — go, now."

13. "You don't have any books for reading, do you? If you do, just throw them out."

14. "No more thinking for you. You've already done enough of that."

15. "If she fixes me three square meals a day, I'll let her be one-half of the best power couple Disney's ever seen."

There's a silver lining, though. In between Gaston's cockiness and catcalling, you'll catch glimpses of little girls stepping up to put him in his place (check out the adorably gutsy girl in the video below!). And then, if you're feeling particularly feisty, feel free to head on over to Disneyland and wait in line for a shot of your own. If Gaston is to be believed, he's totally worth the wait.

8 Ways to amuse your kids while you're all cold and miserable

$

The Polar Vortex is back, and with it, the natural enemy of parents everywhere — the snow day. It's not enough that it's so cold you can't feel your extremities, once school is cancelled and the day cares are inaccessible, you'll have to spend time with your family, too. Usually this is easy, because children love sitting inside for days on end with nothing to do, but if you live on the East Coast, it looks like you're in it for the long haul, which is why you need this list of things that will keep you occupied while you are cold and miserable and hate everything everywhere.

1. Huddle together for warmth.

mulan-shivering-gif

If your house is like mine, there are probably large swaths of it that don't appear to be insulated at all. Take this precious time to force your family to bond with you by never turning up the thermostat and insisting everyone be touching at all times.

2. Play a high-stakes round of "The Quiet Game."

tyra-banks-antm-quiet-tiffany-gif

In which the loser has to take a nap. The winner also has to take a nap. Basically everyone has to take a nap.

3. Watch The Longest and Most Meaningless Movie In The World (1966)

movie-refreshment-sketch-gif

Expand your child's cultural horizons with a little foreign cinema. This one comes to us from the U.K. and is 48 solid hours of B reel, commercials and outtakes. No, seriously, this is a real thing. I Googled it.

4. Complete a Sisyphean task — as a family!

futurama-farnsworth-pointless-gif

My personal favorite is to dump all of the salt and pepper from the shakers into a bowl, and then use tweezers to separate flake from grain. If your children complain that it's tedious and unfulfilling, laugh and say, "Welcome to life!"

5. Watch some paint dry.

owls-staring-gif

That one patch of wall above the light switch in the bathroom is never going to be clean, no matter how many Magic Erasers you buy from that bald charlatan, Mr. Clean. So do what I do, and just give up! Paint over the weird brown and gray smudges, and then watch it dry as a family.

6. Read the backs of cereal boxes.

cinnamon-toast-crunch-box

Watch in wonder as your child's favorite thing to do when they are already late for school suddenly becomes "boring" and "lame."

7. Play Hide-n-Seat.

cat-laying-in-couch

This is just like Hide-n-Seek, except after you count to 100 and your children hide you just take a seat on the couch with a coffee and a back issue of Boy's Life or Highlights or something because you haven't purchased a grown-up book since 2006 and wait for them to figure it out.

8. Get out the home movies.

my-eyes-spngebob-gif

This one is great if you have teenagers because it doubles as birth control. If your children just absolutely won't shut up about how bored they are, introduce them to the miracle of birth: their own! Make sure you pop some popcorn and don't let anyone close their eyes when it's time for the episiotomy.

Henry Cavill's rumored new girlfriend is the last celebrity we'd expect

The two were seen leaving the party together last night and, as Perez Hilton points out, Cavill looked like he'd had a few drinks.

Cavill is definitely one of Hollywood's most eligible bachelors, and he's been enjoying the single life with quite a few dates as of late. He and Kaley Cuoco dated in the summer of 2013. Then he got back together with his ex Gina Carano. After those two called it quits for the second time, Cavill was linked to a woman who didn't hide her love of hunting, which caused a frenzy in the media world. People didn't understand why animal lover Cavill would be interested in a girl who's into killing.

Henry Cavill ex-girlfriend Marisa Gonzalo twitter photo

Let's just say that Cavill doesn't seem to have a specific "type" at all, so maybe it shouldn't be a total surprise that he's into Hilton.

Hilton, on the other hand, likes her men handsome and well-known. She's got quite the list of notable exes, including Doug Reinhardt, Chad Michael Murray, Afrojack, River Viiperi, Benji Madden and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Most recently, however, Hilton made the news in December 2014 because she was reportedly seen making out with Miley Cyrus at a party in Miami.

It looks like age hasn't quelled the heiress's love of going out. And it is very possible that she and Cavill were simply and platonically enjoying the night together. Hilton, after all, also has a ton of famous friends. Her Instagram is chock full of notable appearances.

More: Azealia Banks dropped from her record label

The rapper took to Twitter to absolutely blast Kendrick Lamar for comments he made to Billboard on Ferguson and race in the U.S.

“When we don’t have respect for ourselves, how do we expect them to respect us?” Lamar said in his interview with the magazine. “It starts from within. Don't start with just a rally, don't start from looting — it starts from within."

Banks clearly disagreed. She went on an absolute rant on Twitter, posting part of Lamar's quote and calling it "dumbest s*** I've ever heard a black man say." She went on to tweet multiple more times calling Lamar out hard for his views.

But for those of us who follow Banks on Twitter, the fact that she's in a fight with another artist is, honestly, kind of… yawn. Here are some of Banks's higher-profile feuds from the last few years.

Banks definitely started this one. After she tweeted that the rapper's wife looked like a "meth face," he fired back, tweeting, a whole lot of NSFW insults and "I WILL END YOU!!!!!"

3. Rita Ora

While they were touring together, Banks started a huge feud with Rita Ora, calling her "thirsty" and "Rihanna's understudy."

4. Lady Gaga

In 2013, Banks accused Lady Gaga of stealing her music. She took the feud to social media, tweeting, "Make sure u let them know where u got the title for red flame from. U stole that from the demo I sent u. This one is free. Next time I'm charging." Banks's tweets have since been deleted.

In probably her nastiest online feud, Banks incited the wrath of the internet when she called pop culture blogger Perez Hilton a "messy f*****." She later tried to sort of apologize, tweeting, "A f***** is not a homosexual male. A f***** is any male who acts like a female. There's a BIG difference," and, "As a bisexual person I knew what I meant when I used that word...My most sincere apologies to anyone who was indirectly offended by my foul language." More: Michelle Duggar's secret goes against all her beliefs

But 17-year-old Joy-Anna Duggar has set the bar pretty high for teens everywhere by doing just that, beating her previous weight record for parallel squats. The problem? The internet can't seem to see her awesome fitness goal because of the clothes she wore when she achieved it.

Joy Anna Duggar weightlifting

Joy Anna Duggar weightlifting

In the video, taken and posted to Instagram by big sis Jessa Duggar Seewald, we see Joy-Anna lifting the 145 pounds pretty easily… in a skirt. She's doing something totally awesome that, let's face it, many of us couldn't do, but the fact that she did it in a skirt is inciting outrage? Come on, people.

More: Jim Bob Duggar says thanks to the haters

We know modesty is a big thing for the religious, conservative Duggar clan. Family matriarch Michelle shared her thoughts on the silly controversy, saying, "[We] felt like we needed to be covered from our neck to below our knees mainly because God talks about the thigh being uncovered, and how that's nakedness and shame."

She continued, "I realize that you can't keep somebody from having wrong thoughts, but I do think you have control at least on how you present yourself. So as the older girls and guys grew up they became sensitive to their clothing choices. The girls would say, 'Do you think this is too low-cut or should I put a pin here? Or what do you think about this? Is this too short?'"

Luckily, some online commenters are coming to Joy-Anna's defense, calling out the commenters who seem to think it's more important to pay attention to her clothes than her weightlifting skills.

"Please. . Do not even pull that argument that you can't work out in a skirt," one commenter says. "I did for several years. I only wear dresses/skirts and I went to the gym before I got married. I assure you.. It never got caught on anything!"

Meet the breed: Scottish Deerhound

  • Wise

Overview

Just like the name suggests, the Scottish Deerhound originated from Scotland and was bred to hunt deer. A descendant of the Greyhound and kept only by high-class individuals in the 16th century, the breed nearly became extinct due to excessive hoarding. In the 1800s it was revived in England and shown in its first dog show. It almost became extinct again during World War I but managed to survive the era. And although there are still not many Scottish Deerhounds around today, the dog is said to stay true to its class and breed.

Breed standards

  • AKC group: Hound
  • UKC group: Sighthound
  • Average lifespan: 9-11 years
  • Average size: 75-110 pounds
  • Coat appearance: Wiry and harsh on the body, soft and smooth on the belly
  • Coloration: Brindle and black, blue, blue gray, gray
  • Hypoallergenic: No
  • Other identifiers: Typical body of a Greyhound, smaller face with longer nose; high-set and folded ears; dark, brown or hazel eyes; long legs and low swooping tail
  • Possible alterations: N/A

Is this breed right for you?

A very friendly and pleasing breed, the Scottish Deerhound is a wonderful family dog and companion. Docile and best kept as an inside dog with its own bed, it does well inside of an apartment but will need some space to stretch out and daily exercise. A sensitive dog, it can be shy with strangers but does well with other pets in the home. A natural born hunter, it may chase after animals unknown to it. Requiring weekly grooming, the Scottish Deerhound is prone to calluses.

A dream day-in-the-life

Waking up to a run around the neighborhood, the Scottish Deerhound will then enjoy a nice breakfast with its family. A watchdog, it will keep a good eye on the home while you are away, although it would prefer to stay in your company. After an afternoon nap, it'll run about the yard and chase after any four-legged visitors. In the evening, it'll snuggle up at the foot of your bed on its very own pillow.

Mom won't breastfeed baby born with teeth

Jaklina Bailey's baby was born shortly after Christmas, and when they got a glimpse inside her mouth, the whole delivery room was shocked to see that the girl already had two ready-made chompers along her bottom jaw.

Being born with teeth (called natal teeth) is a rare event — MedlinePlus says only one baby is born with teeth out of every 2,000 to 3,000 births. Natal teeth often lack good root structure, and babies can be at risk for choking if they become wobbly and loose. This means they're often pulled early in a baby's life. Even if natal teeth are well-formed, they can be sharp and can irritate the underside of a baby's tongue.

However, an immediate decision to bottle-feed over breastfeed, as Bailey has announced she's going to do, isn't always a foregone conclusion (she says she's pumping and bottle-feeding). Because babies do eventually get teeth, and moms continue to breastfeed them. In fact, moms breastfeed babies with a mouthful of teeth. It's not rare, it's not unusual — it's just part of feeding a baby.

An infant who has one or two bottom teeth, no matter when they pop out, doesn't spend a whole nursing session scraping your nipple with her teeth. The baby's tongue is actually placed between your nipple and baby's bottom jaw, meaning there is no contact with teeth while you're actively nursing.

I get it. Nipples are sensitive. They are supposed to be, and the thought of a toothy child coming at your tender nipple, mouth agape, sounds like the stuff of nightmares. But you can breastfeed a baby with teeth, and you likely will if you plan to nurse her.

Don't let moms like Bailey scare you when they say they won't nurse a baby who is born with teeth. If your baby is one of the lucky few born with pearly whites, you can get input from your baby's pediatrician (and a pediatric dentist), and you can also work closely with a lactation consultant to work through any concerns you may have.

And as far as nursing an older baby with teeth, it's totally doable. I've done it with each of my four kids, and I did get bit a few times (which I admit was no fun at all), but for me, the benefits always have outweighed the occasional nip. No, I never wanted to have my nipples chewed on, but I also never wanted to get head-butted in the face and have my glasses broken by my kid when she was a baby (and I can go on here, with a never-ending list of child-cause maladies). The bottom line? You can breastfeed a baby who was born with teeth; it's likely not that big of a deal, and if it is, you can work around it.

3 Tahini-free Middle Eastern dip recipes to enjoy when you have a sesame allergy

So after I was told I could no longer enjoy my creamy and delicious tahini, I opted to come up with my own tahini-free dip substitutions. These recipes pack just as much delicious flavor as their traditional cousins do but are 100 percent tahini-free.

3 tahini-less recipes

Tahini-free baba ghanoush recipe

Baba ghanoush is the perfect dish to turn tahini-free. I replaced the tahini with almond butter to keep it smooth, nutty and still fully delicious.

Serves 4-6

Prep time: 15 minutes | Bake time: 20 minutes | Inactive time: 1 hour | Total time: 1 hour 35 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds eggplant
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/3 cup lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup almond butter
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
  • Kosher salt and pepper, to taste
  • 3-6 teaspoons cold water
  • Pita chips, for dipping

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F, and line a rimmed baking sheet with a Silpat or parchment paper liner.
  2. Rub the eggplant with olive oil, and place it onto the prepared baking sheet.
  3. Put the eggplant into the oven, and roast for about 20 minutes, until the outside of the eggplant skin is blackened and the eggplant is tender.
  4. Remove the eggplant from the oven, and let it rest until it's cool enough to touch, about 1 hour.
  5. Remove the blackened skin (it should sort of pull off), and slice/chunk the eggplant.
  6. To the bowl of a large food processor, add the eggplant, lemon juice, almond butter, garlic cloves, lemon zest, cumin, kosher salt, pepper and 3 teaspoons of cold water.
  7. Blend until smooth. If the mixture is too thick, then add a few more teaspoons of cold water. The final product should be smooth but slightly thick.
  8. Serve with pita chips for dipping.

Tahini-free roasted garlic hummus recipe

Roasted garlic hummus is traditional and packed full of garlic flavor. I substituted cashew nut butter for the tahini and served it with crispy pita chips for dipping.

Serves 4-6

Total time: 15 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 (15 ounce) can chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 3 roasted garlic cloves
  • 1/4 cup cashew butter
  • 2 lemons, juiced
  • Kosher salt, to taste
  • Cayenne pepper, to taste
  • Olive oil
  • Pita chips, for dipping
  • Fresh vegetables, for dipping

Directions:

  1. To a food processor, add the chickpeas, roasted garlic, cashew butter and lemon juice. Blend until smooth.
  2. Taste, and season with the desired amount of kosher salt and cayenne pepper. If the hummus is not smooth enough, you can drizzle in some olive oil and blend until the desired consistency is reached.
  3. Drizzle the hummus with olive oil before serving.
  4. Serve your hummus with pita chips or fresh vegetables.

3 tahini-less recipes

Tahini-free edamame hummus recipe

Hummus doesn't have to just be chickpeas. This version keeps it tahini-free by using cashew nut butter and throws in a little steamed edamame for additional nutrition and deliciousness.

Serves 4

Total time: 15 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 8 ounces steamed edamame
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 2 tablespoons cashew butter
  • 1/2 lemon, zested
  • 1/2 lemon, juiced
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • Kosher salt and pepper, to taste
  • Pita chips, for dipping

Directions:

  1. To a food processor, add the steamed edamame, garlic, cashew butter, lemon zest, lemon juice and cumin.
  2. Start to process your mixture while slowly streaming in your olive oil. The mixture should be smooth and dippable in consistency. If the mixture is not smooth enough, then slowly add in more olive oil.
  3. Taste, and season with the desired amount of kosher salt and pepper.
  4. Serve with pita chips for dipping.

Fresh fruit tiramisu is a no-guilt treat for everyone

Fruit Tiramisù 2

Whenever I make this, I can't stop staring at it for a few minutes before I stab it with a knife and start slicing. I love how the fresh fruits are scattered on top of the cake, making it look festive, fresh and healthy. Classic tiramisu is made with espresso, Marsala wine and cocoa powder covering the whole top, but the fresh fruits I replaced them with breathe freshness and lightness into the dessert. In place of the Marsala and coffee, I used freshly squeezed clementine juice along with some zest so that the kids can eat as much as the adults do.

What's great about this version is that you can replace the fruits I used with others that are in season. Go with the flow of the season, and enjoy your fresh fruit finds at the market.

Fruit Tiramisù

Fruit tiramisu recipe

Tiramisu is everyone's favorite dessert, but there's always a big question that hangs over every parent's head. Since a classic version has espresso and Marsala, should the kids eat it too? With this fruit version, the kids can eat as much as they want because it has kid-friendly and healthy ingredients.

Serves 6

Prep time: 1 hour | Inactive time: 3 hours or more | Total time: 4 hours

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups blueberries, strawberries and grapes (or other seasonal fruits)
  • 2 untreated clementines, grated zest
  • 2 cups freshly squeezed clementine juice
  • 1 clementine, sliced, for garnish
  • 4 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 3 eggs, separated
  • 11 ounces mascarpone
  • 7 ounces Savoiardi biscuits (ladyfingers)
  • Fresh mint leaves, for garnish

Directions:

  1. Hull and slice the strawberries.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix together 2 cups of the blueberries, strawberries and grapes, 1/4 cup of clementine juice and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Set aside.
  3. Using an electric mixer, in a medium bowl, mix together the egg yolks and the remaining 3 tablespoons of sugar until the composition becomes creamy, about 5 minutes.
  4. Add the mascarpone gradually by mixing it with a spatula. Gently stir in 2 cups of fruits and the clementine zest.
  5. In another bowl, whip the egg whites until they become stiff.
  6. Mix the egg whites with the mascarpone cream gradually by mixing it with a spatula, starting from bottom of the bowl going upward. Set aside.
  7. Pour the clementine juice into a small, wide bowl for dipping the Savoiardi biscuits.
  8. In a rectangular dish, spread a thin layer of mascarpone cream at the bottom.
  9. Quickly dip both ends of the Savoiardi biscuits into the clementine juice. Just wet them. Don't soak them too long, or they will become soggy.
  10. Arrange the Savoiardi biscuits side by side on the dish until you fill up a whole layer.
  11. Cover the Savoiardi biscuits with another layer of mascarpone cream.
  12. Repeat another layer of Savoiardi biscuits.
  13. The top layer should be the mascarpone cream.
  14. Cover the dish with aluminum foil, and refrigerate for at least 3 hours or overnight.
  15. When the tiramisu is ready to be served, garnish it with the remaining 1 cup of fruits, the clementine slices and the mint leaves.

The new Walking Dead trailer shows nothing, and it's masterful

Essentially, they did what Lincoln's cryptic car commercials with Matthew McConaughey did, but they did it far cooler — told you absolutely nothing in a weirdly hypnotic way that makes you want to go out and consume said product posthaste.

More: Is Daryl safe? Definitive look at who Walking Dead will kill next

After all, what do we really learn about Season 5B from the "Surviving Together" trailer? Essentially, nothing. It's Rick and the gang fighting their way through a densely fogged forest against some invisible enemy we can only assume are denizens of the undead.

Still, somehow, it still leaves us begging for Feb. 8, when the second half of season five resumes.

Aside from the amazingly funky track playing in the background, there are a few other fantastic things going on in this minute-long teaser. Let's deconstruct, shall we?

More: The Walking Dead spin-off: We want walkers in these LA hot spots

The gang's all here!

Naturally, Rick (Andrew Lincoln) is there, front and center. Daryl (Norman Reedus) is by his side, as is Glenn (Steven Yeun). Tara (Alanna Masterson) and Rosita (Christian Serratos) seem to be flanking Eugene (Josh McDermitt), protecting him out of habit, perhaps, because his paltry switchblade and signature mullet don't seem nearly defensive enough. Tyreese (Chad Coleman) and Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green) are there, too — although Sasha seems oddly disconnected. Maggie (Lauren Cohan) comes tearing through the woods in what appears to be a sorrow-fueled rage, Abraham (Michael Cudlitz) remains vigilant, and Carol (Melissa McBride) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) look every bit the badasses they are.

Or are they?

But, wait, what about Carl (Chandler Riggs)? We've never known that kid to shy away from a weapon. Maybe he's just holed up somewhere safe with baby Judith, though, who also isn't shown. We're feeling optimistic, so we're assuming Noah (Tyler James Williams) and Father Gabriel Stokes (Seth Gilliam) are standing guard for them. Also not pictured? Morgan (Lennie James), which seems understandable since he is still technically an outsider to the core group.

Rick remains the fearless leader... or does he?

Although Rick walks out front throughout the trailer, something intriguing happens around the 52-second mark. Everyone stops and looks not, it would appear, to Rick, but Daryl? Or maybe Glenn? Both characters grew tremendously in voice and leadership last season, so it wouldn't be a stretch to assume one of them shifts into even more of an upfront role in the group. Especially since Yeun, who plays Glenn, has already remarked in interviews that Glenn will take on a bigger role this season.

They're on the move

While the gang has done their fair bit of traveling throughout the course of the show, they've generally always had a home base to return to: the prison, the church, the farm. This foggy sequence seems to show that now, in the wake of the downfall of Terminus and learning Eugene was lying, they must resort to living their life in the open — traversing the perilous wild that the unsheltered world has become.

Can they possibly survive in these conditions without being picked off? Will they find another shelter to call home base? My God, Feb. 8 cannot get here fast enough.

What are you most looking forward to about the return of Season 5?

Members of the cast, including Sam Heughan (Jamie) and Catriona Balfe (Claire), as well as the show's executive producer, Ronald D. Moore and the author of the novel series, Diana Gabaldon, talked to the press at the recent Television Critics Association about what fans can expect when the show returns on Saturday, April 4 on Starz.

More: Outlander sneak peek: Claire Randall's in quite the pickle (VIDEO)

It will continue to follow the book closely

Fans of both the novels and the show will be pleased to hear that the creators of the series have no intention of deviating from the source material. Moore said that they don't make changes from the book unless they absolutely have to. So if you've got a favorite scene from the book, chances are you'll see it in the series.

Episode 9 will be told from Jamie's point of view

When the series returns, the story will shift and be told from Jamie's point of view, featuring a voiceover from Heughan. Moore said they made the decision to switch to Jamie's voice as they would be picking up right where the Episode 8 cliff-hanger left off. It was also an opportunity to give the audience Jamie's perspective as the story will be about both Claire and Jamie from now on.

More: Outlander review: A cliffhanger to remember

In fact, there's a lot more Jamie to come

Heughan teased that fans will discover a lot more about Jamie in the second half of the season. He'll be finding his place in the world and dealing with some relationships, such as with his sister, that he'd rather not deal with. Jamie's stubborn side will come out and he'll be less of the idealistic man that fans saw of him in the first season. His failings will come to light and the chinks in his armor will start to show as well.

Jamie won't make it through unscarred

Jamie's difficulties won't just be emotional, they will be physical as well. "In the second part of the show, Jamie goes through quite a lot of injuries." Heughan said, especially in the last couple of episodes. In order to portray the scars that Jamie already carries on his back, Heughan endures up to 2 hours a day in makeup. In the final episodes he will sport almost full-body prosthetics for Jamie's latest injuries. "It's going to look remarkabke and be pretty shocking as well," Heughan said.

The story will move to Paris, but the production is staying in Scotland

Though parts of the story in the second half of the season will follow the book and take place in Paris, the cast and crew are staying put right where they are. When asked how they would handle the Paris scenes, Moore revealed that they will be creating a lot of interior sets on soundstages and they already have people out looking for areas in Scotland that can pass for France.

The flogging scene will be handled very carefully

The infamous scene where Jamie punishes his wife with flogging is coming, but the cast and creator reassure that it was handled as respectfully as possible. "You have to look at it from the mind frame of 1743." Balfe said. "[Back then] this was a very justified form of punishment that a husband and mete out."

"I think for Claire, she finds it very hard to wrap her head around this. There's so much disbelief in the beginning. But what I loved about it was that we took time afterwards to see that she really had to figure out a way to get past this. Even though she may not have been able to accept what he did, [she had to come] to an understanding of his reasons for it," Balfe said.

More: Outlander review: The wedding we've all been waiting for

"Jamie, whether or not he believes it's the right thing to do, just knows he has to do it to teach her a lesson. That's the way he's been brought up," Heughan said about the scene. "They both learn a lesson about their relationship."

In the end, the experience will have a profound effect on their relationship. "To go through that whole experience strengthens their relationship and moves it forward," Heughan revealed.

Is Teresa Giudice really using coffee grounds to look flawless in prison?

Forget thinking about what you did wrong, making amends or paying your debt to society. You've got to make sure your crow's-feet don't get bad and your lips are perfectly buffed. That's exactly what Real Housewives of New Jersey star and new jailbird Teresa Giudice is doing. An app called Priv, which sends beauty and fitness experts right to your door, sent the reality TV mom a letter offering her some prison beauty "hacks" for staying fresh-faced and pretty in her orange jumpsuit.

More: Henry Cavill's rumored new girlfriend is the last celebrity we'd expect

Priv sent Giudice some information about how to use everyday (which is a strange thing to say about someone in prison) items as beauty products. So, if you're ever planning on a stint in the the big house, check out these tips before you go inside.

If you can get your hands on Vaseline, it can act as a lip exfoliant. Priv recommended that Giudice use a toothbrush to gently buff the lips with the jelly, wipe with cool water and dab dry. How dainty for a hardened criminal! Priv had some clear skin advice, too: Break open an Advil Liqui-Gel. Apparently, it's great for acne. Wait… how does Giudice get Advil Liqui-Gels in prison? That seems oddly specific. I digress.

More: How early will Theresa Giudice get off of her prison sentence?

Priv recommended that Giudice use protein powder to condition her hair. Mixing it in with her regular conditioner will "boost growth and lock in the moisture and shine." Giudice must not have access to keratin treatment on the inside. What kind of uncivilized place is that?

The last beauty hack from Priv is to use uncooked oatmeal and coffee grounds in a paste to make a simple scrub. This will soften and invigorate the skin.

Well, it seems a bit callous to be thinking about your beauty routine when you haven't even told your children that you're in jail for fraud and a litany of other charges, but at least these tips seem simple enough for us to try out ourselves. So there's that. Will you try these jailbird beauty tips? And what do you think about Giudice taking beauty advice in prison while her kids think she's on a business trip?
