The Vampire Diaries recap: The breakup

Connor comes back from the grave to torture Elena. Damon and Stefan must find a solution before she goes mad enough to take her own life.

Damon tries to save Elena

It has finally happened. We knew that Elena's transformation into a vampire was going to change more than just her taste buds. It also changed her taste in men. During a miserable day that almost led to her being fried by the rising sun, she finally acknowledges how she really feels about Damon . And Stefan actually takes it really well.

It all started with Elena hallucinating about Connor. His "ghost" is haunting her mind and playing on her guilty conscience to torture her. Luckily, Klaus is able to explain how this is possible since he went through it after he killed the past five vampire hunters. Apparently, after they die, they torture the vampire that killed them until said vampire wants to kill themselves. Klaus was tortured for decades until one day, he just wasn't anymore.

Klaus tells Stefan this, but Stefan swears that Elena is strong enough to handle it and would never kill herself. I'm often surprised by his belief in her strength or glass-half-full attitude. Girl hasn't proved to be able to handle much lately. Either way, Klaus doesn't believe him, and he kidnaps Elena and locks her in a room where she can't hurt herself.

Professor Shane explains the Hunter's Curse

While Elena is locked up, Damon meets up with Professor Shane to get the scoop on the Hunter's Curse. He learns that the only way the hallucinations will stop is if a new vampire hunter arises and slays a vampire. Of course, he goes straight to Jeremy, who has recently learned he is sort of a chosen one.

Meanwhile, Stefan takes matters into his own hands. He sends Caroline to distract Klaus and gets the hybrids to let him in to see Elena. But, she's still suffering hallucinations. Most recently, Katherine appeared to tell Elena what a horrible monster she has become and you can tell she's really starting to lose it. When Stefan walks in the room, all she can see is Connor. So she stabbed him with a sword and bolted out the door.

Now, Elena's on the loose with her hallucinations and suicidal thoughts and no one to help her. Stefan actually calls Damon to track her down because he feels like he's the only one who can get through to her. Elena winds up at the bridge, where she almost died twice when her dead mother appears and so lovingly tells her she should kill herself so all the suffering will be over. She is finally convinced and throws her Daylight Ring into the water.

Damon shows up just before sunrise and tries to take Elena down from the ledge when he notices her ring is gone. Just when it looks like Elena is about to take her own life, Jeremy walks into Klaus' house and kills one of his hybrids. Suddenly, all the voices disappear from Elena's mind and she wants to live! But now the sun is rising and her skin is starting to sizzle. Damon grabs her and they jump into the water together.

Back at the house, Elena thanks Damon for saving her and they share a sweet intimate moment as Damon actually gives Stefan credit for trying to help her and that there may be a cure. He's taking the high road, no matter how painful it may be.

Then, Stefan and Elena have a very honest heart-to-heart on the front porch. She explains to him that her feelings for Damon have intensified since she's become a vampire. He knows and accepts this, but cannot deal with it. And in a moment of mutual understanding and silence, their relationship ends.

Keira Knightley on Anna Karenina love triangle: Jude Law not “sexy”

Keira Knightley takes on the complex lead in Joe Wright’s new theatrical adaptation of the classic tragedy, Anna Karenina. See what she had to say about the part and her hot co-stars Jude Law and Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

Jude Law and Keira Knightley, Anna Karenina

The always breathtaking Keira Knightley will wow viewers in her latest period piece, Anna Karenina. Her stunning dresses, elaborate dance sequences and steamy scenes with rising hottie Aaron Taylor-Johnson are sure to raise the temperature in the room. But one usually distractingly sexy actor who’s not bringing the heat in this movie is, sadly, Jude Law.

WATCH OUR INTERVIEW WITH KEIRA KNIGHTLEY

“Jude Law is a very, very good-looking man,” Keira told SheKnows when we sat down to chat with her about the film. “But I don’t think sexy is what he looks like in this film.”

True, and rightly so. As Anna’s government official husband who is supposed to be 20 years her senior, the 39-year-old Law wasn’t supposed to look like his usually attractive self. His acting, however, was right on par. Keira told us she was excited to work with the talented Law and up-and-comer Taylor-Johnson, 22.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Anna Karenina

“I think they’re both phenomenal actors,” she told us. “I’ve known Jude socially for quite a few years and it was wonderful to actually get the opportunity to work with him. Aaron is wonderful. He’s a constant surprise. It will be really interesting seeing his career. He’s an extraordinary actor.”

Keira herself, though, is the one who really electrifies this film. Playing Anna, the 27-year-old English actress takes on a variety of roles in one: the scorned wife, the illicit lover and the doting mother. Her range within the character is truly impressive.

“I think it’s always more interesting playing the complex characters,” said Knightley. “Playing with if she was the heroine or the anti-heroine, all the way through, was kind of an interesting thing. She is very real. She is wonderful and full of laughter, and she is also horrendous and manipulative. I thought that was kind of true to life.”

Keira Knightley, Anna Karenina

Along with the challenge of the acting, Keira also had to face the difficulty of learning a very intricate dance number.

“It was very difficult to learn,” she told us of her ballroom scene with Taylor-Johnson. “The bottom half is sort of a classic waltz and the top half goes off into this whole other thing with hand movements. It was like that thing where you’re patting your head and rubbing your stomach.”

She had no trouble, though, with the gorgeous gowns she wore in the film. Keira worked with the same designer as on her films Pride & Prejudice and Atonement. She told us the dresses were based off of 1950s Dior couture gowns and made with modern fabrics like denim. And despite how skinny her waist looks onscreen, she didn’t have to deal with a troublesome corset.

“Unless you see me wearing a corset in the film, I actually wasn’t wearing one,” she said. “I was very, very lucky. That’s the wonderful thing about actually knowing the costume designer. She was like, ‘I think we can get away without that.’”

Be sure to catch Keira Knightley, Jude Law and Aaron Taylor-Johnson in Anna Karenina, in theaters today!

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2 movie review

$

0
In this final film in the Twilight saga, Bella comes into her own as a vamp, but what about little Renesmee who’s a rare human-vamp hybrid? Will she end up marrying Team Jacob, who’s creepily “imprinting” on her? Or will she long for a simple, mortal life? So many juicy questions just as it all ends!

Twilight Breaking Dawn 2

Finally, Bella  is no longer human. Having given birth to her daughter while still warm-blooded, Bella is now living the life she claims she was born to live — as Edward’s plasma-slurping, pasty-skinned, sex-kitten-wife. Nice!

With cabernet-colored eyes, Bella now knows her husband in the biblical sense, without any guilt, puritanical shame, or remorse. She and Edward are getting it on, and as a red-blooded woman, I can whole-heartedly celebrate this coupling! And boy, does the sex look good.

Twilight Breaking Dawn 2

But what about Bella’s father, Charlie Swan ? How much information is safe for him to know? Jacob  decides to fill Charlie in on the basics of supernatural beings by stripping in front of him then magically turning into a wolf. I guess that’s one way for Jacob to make his case to the human world.

Twilight Breaking Dawn 2

Little Renesmee loves both the Cullen clan and hanging in the wolf den. But Jacob is overly fond of this wee babe and his second awkward moment in the film comes as he genetically “imprints” on her. At least he’s in Renesmee’s corner, right?

But Jacob’s inappropriate behavior is of little importance once the Volturi, or vampire police, get involved. Led by Aro , this undead watch group has reason to believe Renesmee is a human-child-turned-vampire .

Turns out that when children are turned into bloodsuckers, they are not able to acquire the impulse control required to keep vamps secret and must be destroyed by decapitation and fire. Better hide the kid, quick!

Twilight Breaking Dawn 2

This is the central conflict of the movie and makes for one beautifully violent battle scene set on a timeless, silver-white snowfield. The druid-style hoods and capes, the fangs, Bella’s bad-a** kickboxing moves, and the numerous beheadings all crash onto the screen like the dreamscape of a demonic battle for a little girl’s soul.

My favorite image in the film is when Renesmee rides Jacob’s furry back as they are chased from the battlefield through the forest at hyper-speed. This image delights our unconscious minds, like watching the anti-Little Red Riding Hood. Renesmee is the girl who mastered the big, bad, wolf, and fractured her fairy-tale-fate for all the right reasons.

Twilight Breaking Dawn 2

The only thing I miss from the The Twilight Saga in general, is the blood. How lovely it would have looked spewing on the virgin white snow, sparkling in the sunlight as heads were ripped off their spines. OK, I’m starting to creep myself out.

Bottom line: The 11-year-old girl sitting next to me in the theater cheered and applauded as each enemy was violently vanquished. Soon, the entire audience was cheering in a collective roar, honoring the characters that have grown to mean so much to them over the years. I’m pretty sure the reason humans go to the movies in the first place is to celebrate the myths and legends of our own time. And that sums up Twilight.

Silver Linings Playbook movie review: A bipolar love story

$
0
0
Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence explore the ups and downs of mental illness, medication and football in this quirky romance. Throw in Robert De Niro with obsessive-compulsive disorder, and it's easy to find the silver lining in this movie.

Silver Linings Playbook

4.5 Stars: Perfect for anyone who's ever struggled to keep it together

Pat is serving out an eight-month sentence in a mental institution for severely beating the man he caught in the shower with his wife, Nikki, who now has a restraining order against her husband. When Pat is released into his parents' care, he wants to rebuild his life, and that includes getting his wife back. But can he really do it without taking his medication? Pat seems to think so.

Pat has been bipolar most of his life, but until now, he has been undiagnosed. His mother, Delores , urges him to take his meds, but Pat claims they make him dull and listless.

Pat's father, Pat Sr. , has his own challenges — he's living with obsessive-compulsive disorder. He's also a bookie who obsesses over the Philadelphia Eagles, clinging to every superstition he's collected over the years, even thinking that the angle at which the remote controls are placed will have true impact on whether or not the football team wins. Matriarch Delores emerges as the unsung saint in this movie.

But without his meds, Pat Jr. can't quite keep it together, and when he wakes up his parents in the middle of the night to aggressively bemoan Hemingway's failure to give a happy ending to A Farewell to Arms, his parents have had enough — he's taking the meds, stat!

When Pat's best friend, Ronnie , invites him over for dinner, Pat is wary of going because Ronnie's wife, Veronica , is still friends with Nikki. But then again, it may be Pat's perfect opportunity to prove how stable he has become. At least that's what he hopes, until he meets Veronica's sister Tiffany , a young widow who describes herself as "a crazy slut with a dead husband."

Silver Linings Playbook

Over dinner, Pat and Tiffany hilariously face off about which meds they've taken, which ones were awful and the burden of depression. They connect, but can it be good for either of them?

When Tiffany propositions Pat for sex, he turns her down. He's still married and can't make any mistakes that would keep him from fixing his marriage. Acutely clever, Tiffany offers to help Pat reunite with Nikki, if only he'll enter an amateur Dancing with the Stars–type contest. He agrees and gives Tiffany a letter to give to Nikki — in clear defiance of the restraining order. But will Tiffany actually give it to Nikki, or is this all a big ruse to allow Tiffany to spend time with Pat?

Silver Linings Playbook

The best parts of this movie are when Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence spar with each other in that mentally unstable, defensive yet often semicoherent way. As Pat and Tiffany, they each have strong opinions, but they have a lot of trouble communicating despite their clear attraction to each other.

Cooper and Lawrence devour these characters and bring them to life in a painfully comic way. Cooper is hyper and out of control, while Lawrence is manipulative and scheming. I relate to both of these characters more than I'd like to admit, and it's terribly refreshing to see these people portrayed on the big screen.

Bottom line:  This is such a well-acted film, I wouldn't be surprised if Oscar came calling multiple times. If you like your romance a little offbeat, then you'll love Silver Linings Playbook.

We're obsessed!

We have a total crush on Florence Welch's chic 'do. Find out why in this week's installment of Celeb Hairstyle of the Week!

I'm not typically a huge fan of Florence Welch's style — I guess you could say it's just not my cup of tea — but this week, I was so excited to see what she wore to the LACMA 2012 Art + Film Gala! Between her gorgeous cobalt blue Gucci gown and that ethereal boho-chic braided updo, I was definitely intrigued.

Braids have been gaining popularity for quite some time now, so I reached out to Florence's hair stylist Nikki Providence to get a step-by-step how-to for you. Enjoy!

  1. Beginning with clean, damp hair, spray Davines Defining Texturizer at the roots and MELU Shield on the length of the hair. The Texturizer will give hair hold and volume, and the MELU Shield will help protect hair from heat damage.
  2. Using your favorite round brush, blow dry hair.
  3. Concentrating on the ends of hair, apply a couple of drops of Davines OI/OIL to condition and protect hair while in braids. An added bonus? It'll give you an extra dose of shine without adding greasiness!
  4. Divide locks into two sections and braid each side, making sure to begin each braid just above the ear.
  5. Take each braid and wrap it around the top of your head, securing with pins.
  6. If you're in the mood for an extra dose of glam, take a couple of necklaces and pin them into your hair, like Florence did here!

Anna Karenina movie review: Heroine or villain?

$
0
0
In this fabulous 21st-century telling of Tolstoy’s classic novel, Keira Knightley fascinates both Russian high society and today's audience. Literally set on a stage, this theatrical film indulges in one woman’s journey into selfish obsession. But when it comes to the dangerously sexy Vronsky — who can blame her?

Keira Knightley in Anna Karenina

4 out of 5 stars: Perfect for those who
love a good romantic tragedy

Anna is married to Karenin, a man of great wealth and status in the 19th-century Russian government. She delights in her young son, but having married very young, there is much she has yet to discover about herself.

On a trip to Moscow to help her philandering brother, Oblonsky , reconcile with his scorned wife, Dolly , Anna meets a dashing man named Vronsky and begins a journey into obsession, sexual desire, self-realization and destruction.

Meanwhile, a young landholder named Levin , who's not at the top of the social ladder, is obsessively in love as well. He lusts after Dolly's beautiful young sister, Kitty . He proposes marriage to pretty-Kitty, but alas, Kitty has also fallen under Vronsky's spell. She shuns Levin and rolls the dice with Vronsky, who she believes will spend the evening at the grand ball dancing with her.

Anna Karenina

Kitty and Anna are both shocked when bad-boy Vronsky can't take his eyes off married Anna. While mistresses were often taken by the Russian elite, for a young, single man to pursue an older, married woman was quite scandalous.

Anna, who respects her husband greatly, knows nothing of passionate romance and is defenseless when Vronksy chases after her. Once he catches her, neither he nor she can let go.

And herein lies the central question of Anna Karinina: Is she to be applauded for taking a stand against a societal double standard that allows men enormous moral latitude while denying women the same freedom? Or is she a selfish, childish narcissist who is incapable of feeling empathy for the husband and son to whom she has committed her life?

Anna Karenina

Director Joe Wright's creative decision to set the film on the stage of a theater provides a meaty metaphor for imperial Russian society. He implies that instead of living their lives with passion and truth, the pre-revolution upper class were "acting" as if they were fulfilled — "acting" as if they were happy. Anyone who's ever seen Dr. Zhivago knows the dark fate of the Russian upper crust.

Lush costumes and choreographed scenes flow like a ballet, as does Tom Stoppard's dialogue. Keira is extraordinary in the challenging role of Anna, and the gorgeous Aaron Taylor-Johnson grabs Vronsky by the throat and doesn't let go.

Bottom line: If you love costume dramas, particularly ones with romantic tragedy, you’ll love this film. Enjoy!

A survival guide to traveling with young children

How to travel with toddlers

With the holidays right around the corner, you may be traveling to visit friends and family. And if you have toddlers, be prepared for a challenge.

Traveling with toddlers isn't simple, but it can be a whole lot easier with these tips on what to bring with you and how to avoid meltdowns along the way.

Drive or fly?

Whether you are driving or flying with young kids, it can be difficult. You might think that driving will be easier because of the flexibility . However, you should also keep in mind that flying is much quicker.

Flying tips

If you do fly, be sure to:

Bring your car seat

Your child will be much more comfortable and safe on the plane in a familiar seat. Plus, you'll probably need it at your destination anyway.

Ditch the stroller

Unless your stroller is really lightweight and compact, it might be in your best interest to ditch it and let your child walk.

diaperChange diapers before boarding

It's extremely difficult to change diapers in a tiny airplane bathroom. If your toddler is still in diapers, change him right before boarding... and then pray he stays dry on the flight.

Bring your iPad

In flight, you want to keep your child entertained as much as possible to avoid breakdowns and tantrums. Even if you don't normally let your little one have much screen time, make an exception. Download some of his favorite shows or a movie to your iPad. Let him try out a few games and apps before the trip, and then allow him to play all he wants while you are in the air.

Give him protein

Skip the sugar and processed carbs and let your little one eat protein snacks like cheese sticks and rolled up lunch meats. Protein snacks will keep him balanced rather than dealing with the highs caused by sugar.

Apologize

If your child does have a full-on breakdown, do what you can to calm him down and then apologize to those around you. You don't need to make a big deal of it but a little courtesy is a big plus. Everyone is stressed during the holiday and thoughtfulness and kindness can go a long way.

Car trips

If you are driving with toddlers or other young children this holiday season, be sure to:

Make a practice run

If your child is not usually in the car for more than 20 minutes at a time, practice leading up to the day of your trip. Take him for a drive for an hour or two so he can start getting used to being in the car for longer period.

Bring plenty of entertainment

Just like with flying, you have to keep your wee one entertained in the car. Travel toys, computer tablets for kids, Hot Wheels cars, action figures, books and other small toys are essential. Burn CDs of their favorite music and turn up the volume, so they can sing-along to pass the time.

stopwatchStop every 90 minutes

Plan out your trip in a way that you can stop every hour-and-a-half or so. Make your stops in kid-friendly areas where everyone can walk around for a few minutes, stretch their legs and burn off some energy.

Travel at night

If at all possible, travel at night and allow your kids to sleep. Just be sure that you aren't drowsy yourself. For example, if your kids normally go to sleep at 8 p.m., and it's a four-hour drive to your destination, then leave your home at their normal bedtime. You'll arrive at midnight or shortly after — and your toddler will sleep the majority of the way.

History of the pregnancy test: A tale of two lines

$

Oh, that longed-for answer — the news that a little one will be joining your family. How did someone come up with pregnancy tests, anyway? Read on for some interesting info on the history of pregnancy tests.

That glorious moment of peeing on a stick and getting the answer you crave. A positive. Two lines. Or in some cases, a plus sign or a digital “yes” or “pregnant.” Have you ever wondered how anyone got the brilliant idea of an in-home laboratory test?

Long, long ago

The first recorded pregnancy tests were discovered in ancient Egyptian texts dating back to 1350 BCE. A woman who suspected pregnancy was to water seeds of barley and wheat over a week or so. The text states, “If the barley grows, it means a male child. If the wheat grows, it means a female child. If both do not grow, she will not bear at all.” They may have been on to something — later testing revealed that 70 percent of the time, a pregnant mom’s pee will show growth, whereas the urine of a non-pregnant woman would not.

Hormones and bunnies

In the 1890s, scientists were describing certain “secretions” within the body that they felt were crucial to our inner workings — later to be known as hormones. In the 20s, scientists in several countries were independently observing that when the urine of pregnant women was injected into immature mice, rabbits, frogs and toads, it would create changes in the animals’ ovaries . Thus began the phrase “the rabbit test” — the rabbit was euthanized and dissected to determine pregnancy, because the hCG present in a pregnant woman’s urine induced ovulation in these critters.

It gets more complicated

In the 1960s, there was even more research done and a “hemagglutination inhibition test” was developed. This sounds terribly complicated, and it was — it was a lab test that used purified hCG that was mixed with a urine sample along with antibodies directed against hCG. If a woman was pregnant, the red cells clumped together in a particular pattern.

And then more simple

e.p.t ad - 1978

Pregnancy testing became easier for users in the 70s, with a test that would display results in as little as two hours, and would even work as early as four days after a missed period. Yes, it was still required to be run in a laboratory by a trained technician, but things were approaching home use faster than ever before.

The first pregnancy test marketed in the United States for home use was e.p.t. — a brand that is widely known and still used today. This year marks the 35th anniversary of the e.p.t. home pregnancy test — it was introduced in 1977 and had quite a number of ingredients in each package. An advertisement that ran in Mademoiselle that year reported that it included “pre-measured ingredients consisting of a vial of purified water, a test tube containing, among other things, sheep red blood cells… as well as a medicine dropper and clear plastic support for the test tube, with an angled mirror at the bottom.”

Bringing this laboratory test into the privacy of the home allowed women to learn sooner, and in the privacy of their own home, the potentially life-changing news that she was expecting. It also helped her make changes earlier, if needed, to her lifestyle — such as improving her diet or quitting smoking.

Today

e.p.t. home pregnancy test

Today’s pregnancy tests have advanced leaps and bounds from this early home pregnancy test — and e.p.t. continues to offer home pregnancy tests, but with nothing to mix, no two-hour wait and no high price tag. You can get simple and accurate pregnancy tests for as little as one dollar on some brands, and you can get even cheaper tests over the internet. They can often detect pregnancy several days before a missed period, and only take minutes to tell us the answer.

The first digital tests appeared in 2003 and we can only imagine how much easier, cheaper and faster pregnancy tests will be when our children are having babies.

If you have your navel pierced and get a positive pregnancy test, you may wonder what the heck to do now. We talk with moms who have "been there, done that" as well as professionals in the body piercing community about when it's best to remove the jewelry, if at all.

When to take the jewelry out

If you have your navel pierced and get a positive pregnancy test, you may wonder what the heck to do now.

We talk with moms who have "been there, done that" as well as professionals in the body piercing community about when it's best to remove the jewelry, if at all.

Your navel piercing has healed well, but now that you’re expecting a baby, the question pops up — when do you remove the jewelry, or do you need to at all?

Potential issues

If your piercing is a new one, you run the risk of the jewelry rejecting if you’re pregnant, simply because your body is trying to heal a piercing and grow a baby at the same time. Rejection happens because your body recognizes that your new jewelry is foreign and, as it would a splinter, it seeks to rid itself of it. And navel piercings can take up to 12 months to heal, so keep that in mind as you consider your options.

As your belly grows, migration is another issue that can crop up. Your uterus will, by around 20 weeks, climb to the level of your navel, and continue its path upward and outward, putting pressure on your jewelry. Many, if not most, moms report that their belly button eventually pops outward by delivery day, so you can imagine the force behind your belly button as your baby grows bigger each week. This puts pressure on your jewelry, potentially causing it to gradually be pushed out of its original path and head on a new, crooked mission.

Took it out

A large percentage of the moms we spoke to decided to go ahead and remove their piercing. “I retired my navel piercing way before I needed to, at about 12 weeks,” shared Jackee, pregnant with her first child. “I knew its life was coming to an end and just wanted to get it over with, so I took it out as per my husband’s advice. He was a piercer for five years and had a very clear stance on it: ‘Take it out so it doesn't get a chance to get angry, and repierce it later on if you want.’ I'm really glad I took it out; now at eight months pregnant the scar tissue is red and usually angry and sore. Trying to save it would have been more trouble to me than it was worth.”

Find out how to stop stretch marks>>

Left it in

Some moms decided that since their piercings were totally healed, they’d take it one day at a time to see if they could leave it in. “I left mine in through my entire pregnancy, with the same jewelry,” explained Lexi, mom of one. “It never caused me any problems. I only had it removed about, oh, one minute before my emergency C-section because I was being put completely under anesthesia.”

The bottom line

The usual advice is to either go ahead and remove it, or monitor it closely if you decide to leave it in. Visit your body piercing professional if you notice any rejection, migration, redness, swelling or unusual discharge — and keep in mind, infection can happen even in a piercing where the jewelry has been removed.

Reunions + Bulimia + Sexuality + Equality + Backstabbing + Heartbreak = All leading to a... romantic musical?

Kate Hudson and Lea Michele

My head hurts. Does yours?

I just couldn't keep up with all the storylines while watching this episode. As crazy as that sounds, it was nice to see some dimension in the plotlines, because I hate to say it — I was starting to missing the old Glee class.

We did get to see alumni when Santana made an appearance. Also making an appearance: Kate Hudson's unbelievably chiseled abs.

I hope you caught the anticipated McKinley High School rendition of Grease before you clamored to watch the finale of TheTwilight Saga, Breaking Dawn Part 2.I know I did .

Let's dive right in to this Degrassi-esque episode of Glee.

Lesson No. 1: If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

Rachel , what am I going to do with you? We learned that she got an audition for an off-Broadway play . She has refocused her romantic feelings for her ex, Finn,  toward Brody . Her arch-nemesis Cassandra seems to be tolerant of her. Life seemed good. She had discussed the audition with Brody, and when Cassandra overheard, she discouraged the opportunity as she didn't feel Rachel was ready. Rather than contemplate the advice, Rachel retorts with "I am ready," and even suggests that Cassandra should try out for another part to "get back in the game."Ouch. So, to us all, maybe it didn't seem like such a bad suggestion — but to a dance maven with an ego such as hers? Cassandra's revenge must be exacted for the appalling mention... but how?

Kurt had stopped by later to begin a discussion over trying to go back to McKinley to watch the Grease musical.

Sidebar: I'm sorry, in this situation, Kurt, why are you trying to hinder Rachel's progress? You were the one who was all about the "new" her, and here we are, asking her to backtrack and fall into the unrelenting grasp of high school memories. Not only are you asking her to see her ex, you are asking her to be tempted by unresolved feelings provoked by high school familiarities. Because... you want to see Blaine , who has been dying to hear from you .

Well, Rachel does decide to go after Cassandra not only supports the venture, but offers up air miles to send Rachel back to Lima for the weekend . Rachel, meanwhile, is oblivious to the grave she has dug for herself. After Rachel and Kurt leave, Cassandra, in her lionness prowl, snatches up Brody in her jaws — just kidding — asks if he will be her TA and that it involves "lots of late nights." I was expecting minimal hesitation for some reason, but this boy lapped up the offer like water in a desert . .

The other dramatic storyline was with our princess, Marley . She's the girl-next-door, the girl we cheer for. Her honest character is a little awkward, and her lack of confidence this episode was relatable. The cheerleader we love to hate, Kitty  — yes, I found out her name — decided to sabotage Marley's Grease outfits by shrinking them so she thinks she's becoming fat . She had a scene with her mother, who told her that she is in charge of her body, and that they would go on a diet — together. Such a touching and real scene. I personally hate the way Kitty references Marley's mother , and when Kitty was able to persuade Marley to resort to throwing up to shed a few pounds? I almost cried. I hope you end up alone Kitty.

Ah, but our hero, Ryder walks in and saves the day by telling her she doesn't need it, and eventually kisses her!

Lesson No. 2: You snooze, you lose.

Oh, brother. Let's get the most boring storyline out of the way. Jake and Marley , you had so much potential. I am not sure why Jake is so "scared" because he's acting like a tortured vampire . Ultimately, not only did he lose the lead role in the musical to Ryder — he loses Marley to him, too.

Brittany is temporarily reunited with Santana when Finn recruited her to take Unique's  spot as Rizzo. Poor Unique, even though she had been best suited to play Rizzo, I somewhat understood her parent's concern for her safety . I digress, this was the first time I saw Brittany and Santana's chemistry because in earlier episodes this season it seemed as though Santana had mentally "checked out."

Before Santana goes on stage , Brittany reminds her to use powerful emotions to help her performance. She then suggests using feelings of missing someone and throws it back in her face delicately that they are over because of her own will. She was almost graceful as she walked away, leaving Santana with a seemingly gaping hole in her heart. Wonder what will come of that.

Lesson No. 3: If everyone's getting back with their exes, it doesn't mean you need to.

The finale song was the showstopper obviously, and as Marley took the stage as "Sandy" in her all black spandex outfit accompanied by the *hot* Ryder, their magical chemistry made the entire audience nostalgic. With the romance swarming around, each couple, new or old could see themselves on the stage.

Tina and Mike decide to rethink their relationship in the episode, so they saw themselves on stage.

Kurt and Blaine — although unspoken — seemed happy to be around each other, and as such, also saw themselves on stage.

The stage is also taken over by Finn and Rachel and as the lead couple, Sandy and Danny, and for a moment I was confused if Rachel wanted to get back together. Most of these couples were focusing on present feelings, so I didn't think that this was them reliving "memories."

After the musical finished, Rachel runs out to cry and call Brody. But after making out with Cassandra, Cassandra picks up his phone and lets Rachel know that "he's in the shower" and that Rachel left him all alone. Not only blaming her, she sticks the knife in deeper by saying that one thing already had "led to another" . Rachel runs out and clearly emotional, Cory asks her what was wrong. When he realized it was about Brody and not about him, he leaves her yet again, telling her she should not ever contact him. What a blow Rachel, what a blow.

Rachel, you need to pick a side — and I am hoping, now more than ever you realize it! But your storyline is the most interesting.

Memorable picks of songs featured on this episode:

  • "Greased Lightnin'"
  • "Look At Me, I'm Sandra Dee"
  • "You're the One That I Want"

I hope I keeps up this kind of intense momentum because they are finally bringing the drama!

What were on the minds and Twitter feeds of some of our favorite celebrity moms? Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton took to Twitter to clear up pregnancy rumors, while Tamera Mowry tweets about being a mom to her new baby boy Aden. Giuliana Rancic is back to work after maternity leave, and Tori Spelling and Kourtney Kardashian round out our list of top celebrity mom parenting tweets.

Blake Shelton and Miranda LambertMiranda Lambert and Blake Shelton

After Life & Style splashed a photo of Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton on the cover with the title “We’re having a baby!”, the couple took to Twitter to clear up the rumors — in a way only they can!

“Wow! I just read the headline! 'We are having a baby' yay! Blake Shelton, we're getting a new puppy?“ Lambert tweeted.

“Either that or Reese had my baby... I'm confused too!!“ Shelton tweeted back, referring to the fact that the Life & Style cover also had Reese Witherspoon with her new baby Tennessee. “Look, I know I've gained some weight but the test was negative!“ Shelton joked.

“Blake you can't do this to us. Is she pregnant?“ one follower tweeted.

“I hope not... She's passed out with a bottle of Bacardi in her hands!“ Shelton joked.

“Don't believe everything you read!“ Lambert tweeted. “I'm having a big 'randarita' right now in honor of the baby we are not yet having!“

In case you are wondering, a “Mirandarita” is her signature drink made of a shot of Bacardi, Crystal Light raspberry lemonade and Sprite Zero.

So, no baby yet — but perhaps this country couple plans on starting a family in the future?!

Giuliana Rancic

“Exciting day Monday!” tweeted Giuliana Rancic. “After 3 amazing months on maternity leave, I'm back on @ENews...and with a new co-host @TerrenceJ!!!”

After struggling with infertility and battling breast cancer, Rancic and her husband Bill Rancic welcomed a baby boy named Edward Duke via gestational surrogate.

“Special Sunday for me & @BillRancic...Baby Duke is getting baptized!!! He looks like an angel in his christening gown.#specialday” tweeted Rancic.

Rancic also took to Twitter to send love to her friend, Brooke Burke, who recently announced she is battling thyroid cancer. “Sending love and best wishes to my friend @brookeburke. Call on me if u need me...I'm here for you,” she wrote.

Like we had any doubt that baby Edward would have a great wardrobe, Rancic tweeted: “Ok, seriously??? @SplendidLA has such cute clothes for Duke! Oh, and don't think mom didn't pick up a few things:) #loveit”

Tamera Mowry

Tamera Mowry welcomed her first child, a baby boy named Aden John Tanner, on November 11.

“Thnks for all the love and well wishes. @adamhousley and I are very overjoyed with love and feel so blessed. Being a new mommy ROCKS!” tweeted Mowry.

The Sister, Sister star also shared an adorable photo of her baby boy, tweeting “Chillin with my grandma Darlene today! She hooked me up with a cool outfit!“

Mowry’s husband, Fox News correspondent Adam Housley explained the meaning behind his name, tweeting, “Aden John Tanner...he has two middle names. A for me. T for Tamera and John..our fathers middle names.”

Kourtney Kardashian and MasonKourtney Kardashian

“The rare hour in my house when all I hear are the breaths of my sleeping angels,” tweeted Kourtney Kardashian, who is mom to Mason and Penelope.

“A little alone time,” she later tweeted, with a link to a photo of her and Scott Disick at the beach with Mason.

“Scott and I took Mason to the beach for a little alone time with us. He is such a little beach boy. I really do love that in Miami you can go to the beach any time of the year and it's so beautiful. On our way leaving the beach Mason said 'Goodbye beach! Thank you for a wonderful day!' He melts my heart.”

Tori Spelling

“Prepare yourself for… MOMS GONE WILD!!!!” tweeted Tori Spelling, with a link to her blog where she writes about how difficult it is for her to leave her kids and have a date night.

“Hello, my name is Tori, and I'm a Kid-a-holic. It's true. I have real issues leaving my kids. Because of my issues Dean and I rarely go to parties, dinners, a date or anything adult driven. Seems that if there's not a kid’s menu, I'm not interested,” she wrote.

“Four constant offspring voices is like white noise to me,” she writes, referring to her four kids. “ It's my comfy zone. But, after two years of back to back pregnancies and four beautiful but loud babes later my husband and I probably could use a night to ourselves.”

She shared cute photos of her night away from the kids with her husband Dean as they attended a friend’s wedding in Santa Barbara.

Think your baby won't come early? Think twice and prepare!

One in eight babies born in the United States arrives early, sometimes for no known cause. Learn how to prepare if your little one is born too soon, and how to get through your baby's subsequent hospital stay.

When baby is early

November 17 is World Prematurity Day. One in eight babies born in the United States arrives early, sometimes for no known cause.

Learn how to prepare if your little one is born too soon, and how to get through your baby's subsequent hospital stay.

When I was expecting my first child and looked about to pop, I remember patting my burgeoning belly as I reassured my boss, “Oh, I have a feeling about this one. I think he’ll take his time.”

As I lay on the ultrasound table at 32.5 weeks’ pregnant, listing items I wanted my husband to fetch from home since I was about to be admitted to the hospital, I realized my preemie son, Charlie, was my new boss. Timing was entirely up to him, from that moment on.

Prematurity is defined as birth before 37 weeks’ gestation. In the United States, one in eight babies is born prematurely, according to the March of Dimes. Any number of conditions can cause premature birth, and as many as 40 percent of premature births have no known cause.

Meet Grant, 1 pound, 15 ounces

Jennifer was 23 weeks’ pregnant with her son, Grant, when her water broke without warning or known cause. She spent the next two weeks in the hospital. Grant arrived at 25.5 weeks, weighing 1 pound, 15 ounces. He was 13 inches long.

Over the next 96 days, Grant clung to life in the neonatal intensive care unit , while Jennifer and her husband, Greg, clung to what Greg describes as “the dream of bringing Grant home from the hospital, just like most normal parents get to experience.”

“We spent a lot of nights crying ourselves to sleep,” Greg says. Looking back, Jennifer believes “ignorance was bliss, and kept me from really understanding how grave the situation was.”

The couple did what they could to surround Grant with love, filling his isolette with pictures of themselves and recording children’s books for the nurses to play for Grant when neither parent could be there.

U.S. preterm births drop

Jennifer and Greg's story isn’t unique — and neither is their success. “Grant is super,” Greg reports. “Amazing and so smart!” Jennifer adds. At 7 years old, he shows no development issues.

According to the National Center for Health Statistics, the U.S. preterm birth rate peaked in 2006 at 12.8 percent, after rising steadily for more than two decades. It dropped to 11.7 percent in 2011, the lowest in a decade.

Prepare for preemie

Myra Wick, M.D., Ph.D., is a specialist in the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Wick co-wrote Mayo Clinic Guide to a Healthy Pregnancy and is mom to four children.

In Dr. Wick’s experience, expectant mothers are surprised most often by complications that can arise from a premature birth, and the length of time the baby may need to remain in the hospital.

If you know your baby will arrive early, Dr. Wick advises touring the NICU and meeting with the neonatologists. “Ask questions,” she urges. “And don’t be afraid to ask more than once if there are lingering questions you don’t fully understand or don’t remember everything discussed.”

I was admitted on a Friday afternoon, and Charlie was born Tuesday morning. Over the weekend, my husband and I toured the NICU . I’ll never forget the compassionate NICU nurses and the neonatologist who sat by my bedside, patting my hand and reassuring me through my tearful fretting.

Surprising lessons

No warning?

What if your baby arrives early with no warning? The Mayo Clinic Guide to a Healthy Pregnancy recommends the following:

  • Spend time touching and talking to your newborn.
  • Learn as much as you can about your baby’s medical condition.
  • Take an active role in your baby’s care.
  • Don’t be afraid to ask questions.
  • Lean on someone.
  • Inquire if public health nurses or visiting nurses can assist with your baby’s care after you’re home.
  • Ask if your baby should be enrolled in special infant follow-up or infant development programs.

Over Charlie’s one-month stay in the NICU, we learned more than we ever wanted to know about Bradycardia, chest tubes, feeding tubes, kangaroo care and breastfeeding .

One of the most surprising lessons was how to touch our preemie. A mother’s first instinct is to caress her newborn child, but for a premature baby, that type of touch may provide too much stimulation. We learned that a gentle, steady touch was best.

We also learned that eye contact can provide too much stimulation for a preemie. It was strange to realize, but that tiny baby is taking so much in, that direct, prolonged eye contact can cause sensory overload.

It was difficult to look away, but I remember feeling an overwhelming calm as I kept my face expressionless and averted my gaze from Charlie’s tiny, blinking eyes. It was something I could do for him when otherwise I felt helpless.

World Prematurity Day

November 17 marks World Prematurity Day. The Prematurity Campaign was launched in 2003 by the March of Dimes, a nonprofit working to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. The March of Dimes also funds research and advocates for legislation to improve care for mothers and babies.

In 2008, March of Dimes expanded its campaign globally, and this year the organization invites you to post on its Facebook page a story about a baby born early.

Have you been affected by a premature baby? Share your story below and help new parents of preemies know they aren’t alone.

Chocolate caramel pumpkin dessert

These sweet and rich pumpkin desserts will please the sweet tooth in your life. So adorable, they'll make a festive addition to your holiday dessert table.

These pumpkins are about the size of the cute little real ones you see in the grocery store. This recipe will yield nine pumpkins, but one pumpkin serves about four people.

Tip

Before you begin this recipe, if you aren't experienced with making chocolate, read this chocolate making tips page.

Chocolate caramel pumpkin dessert

Ingredients:

  • 14 ounces milk chocolate
  • 1 can dulce de leche
  • 12 ounces orange or white confectionery coating/candy melts
  • Lorann pumpkin oil

Chocolate caramel pumpkin dessert -- ingredients

Directions:

1

Prepare chocolate caramel filling

Finely chop milk chocolate, then open a can of dulce de leche.

In a bowl, melt the milk chocolate and allow it to cool to about 91 degrees F. Add the dulce de leche and combine. The mixture will be very thick, but the caramel and chocolate must be well-incorporated, so it helps to use your hands. Once well mixed, cover the bowl in plastic wrap and let rest for at least 30 minutes. After unwrapping it, knead it with your hands until smooth, about 30 seconds.

Prepare chocolate caramel filling

2

Form chocolate mixture into balls

Divide the melted chocolate/dulce de leche mixture into 8-12 pieces, reserving a small handful for the pumpkin stems. Roll each piece into a ball, then flatten slightly and make a small dent in the top center.

Form chocolate mixture into balls

3

Turn chocolate balls into pumpkins

Using a knife, cut grooves into each ball, starting at the indentation at the top and going all the way around to the opposite side. Then, use the back of the knife to widen the groves for a more defined pumpkin shape.

Turn chocolate balls into pumpkins

4

Create pumpkin stems

Divide the reserved modeling chocolate into 8-12 pieces and roll them into short logs for the pumpkin stems.

Create pumpkin stems

5

Prepare orange candy coating

Pour confectionery coating into a microwave safe bowl and microwave on high for 40 seconds. Take it out and mix it, even though the wafers will not look like they've melted. Microwave again for 30 more seconds on high, then allow it to cool in the microwave for one to two minutes. Remove it and stir vigorously.

Heat again for 10-15 second increments, stirring after each, until melted. Every microwave is different, but be careful to go slowly as the candy can burn easily.

Now is also the time to add pumpkin oil, if you'd like. Add a few drops, then taste. Repeat until you get the desired flavor.

Prepare orange candy coating

6

Candy coat the pumpkins

Dip your chocolate caramel pumpkins into the melted candy coating. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a nonstick liner.

To ensure a nice coating on the bottoms of your chocolate caramel pumpkins, flip them over and spread a layer of the candy coating on the bottoms before you dip them. Just be sure you only cover the flat surface, or your pumpkins wont have a natural look to them.

Candy coat the pumpkins

Drop one pumpkin into your orange coating, press the pumpkin down into the candy coating and completely submerge.

Candy coat the pumpkins

Use a fork to lift the pumpkin out of the candy coating. Tap the fork on the side of the bowl several times until the excess candy coating falls off the pumpkin. Be sure the dent on the top is apparent; you might need to put your finger in it and push the candy coating out.

Candy coat the pumpkins

7

Add the finishing touch

Put the pumpkin on your lined baking sheet and smooth out any rough spots made by the tines of the fork. Press a stem into the indentation on top.

Add the finishing touch

Repeat with half of your pumpkins and refrigerate for about 10 minutes until the candy coating is set.

Now you'll have to freshen your candy coating. Reheat it in 10-15 second increments, stirring after each time until melted again. Continue dipping the remaining pumpkins, adding the stems, and chill in refrigerator until set.

8

Slice and serve

Serve for dessert at Thanksgiving, Halloween or any other autumn get-together, or wrap in clear cellophane bags and give as gifts. Store in an airtight container, and they will keep well for at least a month.

American Horror Story is a critical and commercial success. It's no wonder FX has given it a green light for Season 3. Next year, the horror anthology will return with a new story, but have a similar cast.

American Horror Story Cast

FX can't get enough of American Horror Story. The network is currently airing the show's second season, and has given us good news about a third. It's been confirmed that AHS will be back for a terrifying third season.

First spooky promo for American Horror Story: Asylum>>

According to John Landgraf, president of FX Networks, "With American Horror Story: Asylum, Ryan [Murphy] and Brad [Falchuk] have raised the bar in every way from Murder House, the first American Horror Story miniseries."

"Their original idea — the notion of doing an anthological series of miniseries with a repertory cast — has proven groundbreaking, wildly successful and will prove to be trendsetting. We can't wait to see what deviously brilliant ideas they come up with for their third miniseries."

Major American Horror Story star returning for Asylum>>

For Asylum, several cast members from AHS' first season were brought back into the fold. Murphy and Falchuk plan to do the same for the next installment. They've announced that once again, Jessica Lange will return.

The creators couldn't be more excited about the next chapter in their innovative series.

"The American Horror Story anthology is a labor of love for all of us and we could not be prouder of the work our brilliant company of actors and everyone on the production team is doing this year," said Murphy. "To John and our friends at FX and Dana Walden and Gary Newman at 20th, we thank you for your vote of confidence — and to our loyal audience, keep watching!"

Between the kids, the pets, you and maybe even your significant other, there are a lot of dates, times and deadlines to keep track of. That's why it's so important for moms to have an agenda that really speaks to them. But should you go paper or app? And what agendas are best for your family's busy schedule?

Between the kids, the pets, you and maybe even your significant other, there are a lot of dates, times and deadlines to keep track of. That's why it's so important for moms to have an agenda that really speaks to them.

The right agenda for your busy mom life

Should you go paper or app? And what agendas are best for your family's busy schedule?

Mom calendars, family calendars, agendas for mom... there are so many options for keeping your life organized. When you are seeking the right solution for you, it's key to find one that really fits you.

"You will get more done if you are constantly reminded of what you should be doing."

"Many times, when people struggle with time management it's because they are using the wrong tools. With the instant availability of so many productivity apps, we feel pressured to use one of the many digital to-do lists out there. While these may work for many people, the most important quality of a time management system is that it works for you," says productivity expert Emily Schwartz, author of The Time Diet: Time Management for College Survival and the soon-to-be-released The Time Diet: A Recipe for Time Management.

Paper planners

We might have smartphones, netbooks, tablets and Wi-Fi, but for some, paper planners just work better. "Some people enjoy the freedom of a paper agenda. With just the stroke of a pen, they can circle things, star things, cross things out, or write in the margins, without being limited to the programing of the app," says Schwartz. If that's you, just go with it.

Erin Condren Life Planners

Busy moms managing kid and work schedules love Erin Condren planners, which are highly personalizable and come with a variety of useful features — like a pocket for storing important papers, two-page per week layouts, room for goals and more.

momAgenda

Another popular agenda for busy moms, momAgendas have a convenient two-page per week layout and also have space each day not just for your to-dos and appointments but for organizing the kids as well. There's also space for important contacts, planning and more.

Electronic planners

We've come a long way from the days of Palm Pilots. These days, electronic planners are fast, easy and sync easily with all our devices. Plus, they are packed with features. "Digital calendars offer the ability to sync with multiple devices, sound alarms when tasks are due, and collaborate with other users," says Schwartz.

Cozi

Busy moms — and busy folks in general — really like Cozi's family organizer, which has a lot of functionality. It's a website, an app and a shared calendar across platforms. There's also room for shopping lists, to-do lists and a journal.

Google Calendar

This used to be just a web-based calendar service that let users share calendars and view them from anywhere. But now, there's an Android app for Android users and ways to sync with other devices. It's a basic shared calendar — which sometimes is all you need.

What's right for you?

The bottom line in planners is that you have to choose the device that's right for you. If you prefer paper, that's OK! Stick with it. But if the features and syncing of electronic organizers suit you better, then go with it. "You will get more done if you are constantly reminded of what you should be doing. That is the purpose of the agenda. It helps you remain mindful," says Katie Hughes, Ph.D., founder of Dance Yourself Fit, LLC and the inventor of Slip-On Dancers, a product that converts running shoes into dance shoes.

Mini homemade green bean casseroles

$

Remember that goopy green bean casserole Grandma used to make? This new and improved version uses only fresh ingredients, no cans. Even those french-fried onions you loved so much get revamped to make a classic holiday side dish even better.

Mini homemade green bean casseroles

Is green bean casserole a tradition at your Thanksgiving table? Some traditions are meant to be broken. Just because it used to be made with cans of mushroom soup, soggy green beans and salty fried onions doesn't mean you have to do it that way this year. Try this updated homemade version instead.

Mini homemade green bean casseroles with crispy fried onions

Makes 4-6, depending on size of ramekins

Ingredients:

  • 12 ounces fresh green beans
  • 4 strips bacon
  • 2 cups sliced cremini mushrooms
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon chopped fresh thyme
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/3 cup low-sodium chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup cream, divided use
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 yellow onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Canola oil

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.
  2. Snap ends off green beans and cut into thirds. Place in a steamer basket and steam over boiling water for about six to eight minutes, until tender but not fully cooked. Immerse green beans in an ice bath to stop cooking, then drain and reserve.
  3. Chop bacon into pieces and fry in a large pan until crisp. Remove bacon bits and drain on a paper towel. Pour out all but about one tablespoon of bacon fat, then add sliced mushrooms and saute until they release their juices and are starting to brown. Add garlic, thyme and red pepper flakes and cook for a few more minutes.
  4. Pour in chicken broth and about half the heavy cream. To the remaining heavy cream, stir in cornstarch until smooth, then pour into mushroom mixture. Let mixture simmer and thicken for a few minutes until it reaches the consistency of gravy.  Season with salt and pepper, then toss green beans and bacon into mushroom mixture. Stir well.

A Good Samaritan law signed in 2011 has given Stephanie Bongiovi a break: No charges will be filed against her or her companion.

Drug charges filed against Jon Bon Jovi's 19-year-old daughter have been dismissed, a New York prosecutor revealed Thursday.

After being called to Stephanie Bongiovi's dorm room at her upstate New York college in the wee hours of Wednesday morning, medics found the rocker's daughter unresponsive.

The 19-year-old was alive but had apparently overdosed on heroin. When police officers searched her room, they found heroin, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Bongiovi was arrested and charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and fourth-degree criminal possession of marijuana.

Bongiovi's friend Ian S. Grant, 21, who is supposedly also from Bongiovi's hometown of Red Bank, New Jersey, was also charged.

Today, Oneida County District Attorney Scott McNamara announced the charges have been dropped for both. In New York State, an individual having a drug overdose, or someone trying to help an overdose victim cannot be prosecuted for possessing a small amount of heroin, or any amount of marijuana.

Bongiovi and friend have good timing: The law, known as the Good Samaritan 911 law, was just signed by Gov. Andrew Cuomo in July 2011. The law was designed to reduce overdose deaths by encouraging 911 calls since those calling need not fear being arrested for drug possession. Similar laws have been passed in several other states.

“People will say she got away with murder because of who she is, but this law was passed so people don't watch somebody die because they're afraid of jail,” McNamara told The New York Daily News. “And you don't want the person overdosing to say, 'No, don't call.’”

McNamara added that Bongiovi had an “insignificant” amount of heroin.

Dad Jon Bon Jovi, 50, has not publicly commented on his daughter's legal or substance abuse issues. And at this point, it's unclear if officials at Hamilton College will boot the students out of school as punishment for their offenses.

Entertainment Weekly also reports that Jon Bon Jovi is scheduled to perform at a concert to benefit Hamilton’s scholarships and arts programs in Times Square on Dec. 5. No word if that appearance is still happening.
