10 Crazy Red Carpet Hacks Celebrities Use to Stay Picture-Perfect

We’ve always wanted to know exactly how celebrities remain absolutely stunning on red carpets, with their striking ensembles and seemingly perfect smiles. There are flashing lights and high-quality cameras and a wide array of possible angles, but celebrity stylists have all the secret tips that go into orchestrating a flawless red carpet look. Here are a few tips most of us would never have thought of to try at home — try them during your next photo op.

More: Signature Celebrity Red Carpet Poses You Never Noticed

Using white eye shadow to brighten teeth

This first hack is probably the most interesting considering it involves using makeup on your teeth — that’s right: makeup. on. your. teeth. Bruce Grayson, the head of makeup for the Academy Awards, told Bravo, “One trick that I have used on the red carpet is brushing on white cream eye shadow directly on teeth to brighten a smile. It whitens teeth, and it’s undetectable. It doesn’t stay on long, but long enough for that one important close-up red carpet photo!”  This trick seems to be a tad extra but completely understandable considering the importance of a red carpet.

Crazy Red Carpet Hacks Celebrities Use: Using White Eye Shadow to Brighten Teeth

Using toothpaste to clean scuffed shoes

Toothpaste is useful for more than just cleaning teeth. According to Marie Clarie’s senior fashion editor, Zanna Roberts Rassi, this household product is perfect for cleaning up scuffed shoes. Simply rub a sufficient amount of the paste, not gel, onto the scuff with a damp cloth and then wipe it off. The shoe should be completely clean and scuff-free. She demonstrated this quick tip on a pair of patent leather shoes on Good Morning America.

Crazy Red Carpet Hacks Celebrities Use: Using Toothpaste to Clean Scuffed Shoes

Using sweetener to clean stains

Another tip Rassi shared includes using artificial sweetener for a fresh stain. Place artificial sweetener immediately on the stain and let it absorb. Pat the clothing from the back so it pushes the stain out instead of in. By doing so, you won’t force the stain back into the clothing, and you are ready to go, stain-free.

Crazy Red Carpet Hacks Celebrities Use: Using Sweetener to Clean Stains

Using soap to loosen stubborn zippers

Rassi also shared that she uses a bar of soap to coat the teeth of a stubborn zipper if it ever gets stuck. This way, it can ease the traction and allow it to zip up smoothly.

Crazy Red Carpet Hacks Celebrities Use: Using Soap to Loosen Stubborn Zippers

Using tape to fake larger cleavage

Kim Kardashian West was probably the first star to expose this red carpet secret that, frankly, many celebrities also use to fake a larger amount of cleavage. The hack requires taping the bust up in a way that flatters the open neckline without showing any extra tape. Stylist Janice Meredith revealed that the tape is usually trimmed in order to conceal the construction underneath. Before you start taping away, be sure to have some baby oil on hand so you can remove the tape without harming your skin.

Using shapewear to avoid creases

Not only is tape a must-have for red carpet looks, but so is layered shapewear. The more nylon, the more support. Meredith mentioned how celebs will layer their shapewear, like Spanx, to create a smooth, crease-free look. Some fabrics are less forgiving than others, and layering shapewear can help prevent any unwanted bumps or bubbles. Boohoo is a great place to get affordable shapewear for only $12.

Crazy Red Carpet Hacks Celebrities Use: Using Eyeshadow to Fake a Fuller Hairline

Using eye shadow to fake a fuller hairline

Not everyone is born with a perfect hairline, not even celebrities. Celebrity hairstylist Justine Marjan told Elle that she places eye shadow on the hairlines of stars such as Ashley Graham in order to create the illusion of a fuller hairline. The sparse areas are filled with an eye shadow color that matches the star’s actual hair color, creating a perfectly full hairline. This tip is super-useful for looks in which the hair is tied back or pulled up from the face.

Using shea butter & talc powder for more comfortable heels

When it comes to red carpets, celebrities are usually wearing uncomfortable designer shoes. Jenke Ahmed Tailly, who has worked with stars such as Beyoncé and Kim Kardashian West, told Vogue that instead of wearing insoles to ease discomfort — because they can take away from the look and might not even work — he recommends massaging the feet with shea butter and then applying a translucent talc powder. The massage will help loosen up the muscles while the powder will improve comfort.

Crazy Red Carpet Hacks Celebrities Use: Using a Menthol Spray for Heels

Using a menthol spray for heels

Another way to ease discomfort would be to use a spray called Still Standing that Margot Robbie’s stylist, Kate Young, recommended. Still Standing is an eco-friendly, nonaerosol continuous spray that generates a mix of cooling menthol, natural anti-inflammatories and pain relievers. All you have to do is spray this product all over the feet and wait for it to dry. Please hold while we add a few cans to our shopping carts…

Using a Menthol Spray for Heels

Using plastic bags or Aquaphor to slip into tight shoes

This last hack is perfect for those of you trying to slip on those stubborn shoes. Aquaphor is a great lubricant for difficult shoes that need a little extra help slipping into. And celebrity stylist Toni Ferrara said plastic bags are perfect for getting boots to slip on with ease. “For premieres where we didn’t wear gowns and a client wore knee-high boots, we used plastic bags to get her foot to fit into the boot—enough to walk the carpet and be photographed,” she said.

Sad news, Orange Is the New Black fans. Netflix has confirmed that the upcoming season 7 will be the series' last, which means it's probably time to stock up on tissues. We don't know how the show will end, but we know it will be super emotional; cast reactions to the news already have us getting misty-eyed.

More: Uzo Aduba on How OITNB Disproves the Myth That Women 'Can't Work Together'

As reported by E! News, the OITNB cast, including Danielle Brooks, Adrienne C. Moore, Uzo Aduba, Taylor Schilling, Laura Prepon, Natasha Lyonne, Dascha Polanco and Kate Mulgrew, made a video about the announcement on Wednesday, Oct. 17 and posted it on the show's official Twitter account. The accompanying tweet read, "Warning: This may make you cry. The Final Season, 2019."

Each of the cast members in the video announce the news in their own way before diving into their feelings on it.

"I'm going to miss playing and living on the edge of one of the most groundbreaking, original and controversial series of this decade," Mulgrew said.

"I'm so grateful for the fun times, the knowledge, the friendships, the love, the family that we have created together," added Aduba. She later said, "Season 7, you will not be disappointed. It is a season you will not forget. And we're going to give you everything and more that you could have ever wanted."

In another statement, Cindy Holland, Netflix's vice president of original content, reflected on how groundbreaking OITNB has been throughout its run: "During production of season one, everyone involved with Orange Is The New Black felt like we knew a special secret we couldn't wait to share with the world. Since then, we have laughed, cried, raged, and roared with the women of Litchfield, and every moment spent with them felt like borrowed time—too good to last forever."

Holland added, "We will be sad to say goodbye but we will definitely be going out on a high. We are grateful to Jenji Kohan and her groundbreaking vision; to her supremely talented team of writers and producers; and to a once-in-a-lifetime cast and crew for creating a truly special work of art that has inspired conversations and connected audiences around the world."

What You Need to Know About Tampax's New Menstrual Cup

Tampax is getting in the menstrual cup game. Starting today, the company known for tampons is launching their first-ever reusable product

Based on current clinical research, online reviews and feedback from menstruators, Tampax couldn't ignore the increasing popularity of less-traditional period products and decided to make the move into this space. Development on the Tampax Cup began a little more than two years ago, Rebecca Stoebe-Latham, a senior scientist with Tampax, tells SheKnows.

How is this cup different?

Upon first glance, this cup appears to be relatively similar to those on the market, but Stoebe-Latham, a biomedical engineer, notes that there are two key differences. The first is that it's shorter than most of the other cups currently available.

More: Meet the Mother-Daughter Duo Behind the DivaCup

"Comparing the vaginal canal length to a lot of the cups that are currently on the market, they’re way too long," she explains. "The highest concentration of nerves is in the bottom third of the vagina, so if you have a cup that’s too long, it’s going to be uncomfortable the entire time you’re wearing it."

The other difference is that it's in more of a V shape, whereas most other cups on the market are in a U shape or bell shape, Stoebe-Latham says. The goal with this shape was to reduce how much the cup pushes up on the bladder.

"Early on, we had women wear cups, and we took some MRIs, so we saw really clearly how cups shift the organs a little bit and what it looks like when it’s inside," she explains. "One of the things that we saw that was also reflected in the reviews was that cups tend to push up against the bladder. They make it feel like you have to urinate more often. In addition to being uncomfortable, it also increases the risk of UTIs."

Choosing the right size

The Tampax Cup comes in two sizes. Unlike some of the existing cups that use age and whether or not you've given birth to help you decide which cup to use, Stoebe-Latham says that the Tampax version goes by the heaviness of your flow.

She recommends that people with a heavy flow start with the larger cup and those with a lighter flow start with the smaller cup. It’s also possible both cups will fit well and be comfortable for someone, and they may opt to switch back and forth between the two based on when they’re having lighter or heavier days of their period.

In addition to both cups, the starter kit comes with a carrying case and 10 cleansing wipes, which can be used on the vulva or to clean the cup. Stoebe-Latham says many of the people they spoke to during the development process indicated that when they’re using a public bathroom, they’ll frequently use toilet paper to clean their cup but noticed it doesn’t really get clean and also leaves lint on it from the toilet paper.

More: Everything You Need to Know About Having Sex Wearing a Menstrual Cup

They recommend you switch the cup every year, but Stoebe-Latham notes that it’s perfectly safe to use it past that point, but the cup does tend to discolor and develop a biofilm. The cups are made of 100 percent medical-grade silicone and are BPA-free, latex-free, dye-free and perfume-free.

Of course, Tampax didn't invent the menstrual cup. The first patent for a cup was filed in 1935 by Leona W. Chalmers, a former actor who wanted to find a more convenient way to deal with her period after finding it difficult to manage it during her hectic performance schedule, Pacific Standard reports. Though menstrual cups still haven't become as mainstream as pads or tampons, they have been increasingly visible over the past two decades thanks to companies like DivaCup, UltuCup, EverCup, Casco Cup, Lunette, Luna Cup and EvaCup.

Tampax is, however, the first of the major mainstream period product brands to have a menstrual cup hit the shelves. Though it's unclear whether loyal pad and tampon users will make the switch, having more options and having these options be increasingly visible is a step in the right direction.

How Grown-ish Improves on Black-ish's Formula & Why That Makes It a Must-See

Every once in a while, I go to my Hulu queue and just can’t find anything I’m in the mood to watch. During such a moment late last spring, I found myself clicking on through various spinoffs of TV shows I loved to see if anything piqued my interest. Lots of scrolling led me to the spinoff of Black-ish (which came back for season five on Oct. 16), Grown-ish. Pretty quickly I discovered the show is a classic example of those times when they sum parts of a spinoff have turned out even better than the original. Sure, Black-ish is absolutely an important and inviting show you need to dive into, but for my money, Grown-ish is one show you need to be making time to watch.

More: Fall TV Premiere Dates You Need to Know About

Like The Cosby Show, Black-ish is also about an upwardly mobile Black family, though its stories are told through a solid, very identifiable gimmick: "a very special episode." Nearly every week, Black-ish brings the truth about topics like historical accuracy, the criminal justice system and postpartum depression. Returning to Freeform in January 2019, Grown-ish — which follows the oldest daughter of Black-ish's Dre and Bow JohnsonZoey (played by Yara Shahidi) during her time as an undergrad — has chosen to integrate themes of social justice and life as a Black American with ideas about how millennials are navigating various critical issues in 2018. It's set against the backdrop of a select group of friends of varying racial and socioeconomic backgrounds at a prominent California university. What makes it widely relevant is that so many of its storylines — including dating, activism and addiction — are actually issues that translate to people of all ages.

I’ve enjoyed Black-ish, now in its fifth season, but I admit that at times it feels a bit like church. I know I need to show up this week because I’m going to learn something that will be good for me. That’s not always what I want from my entertainment. Grown-ish is still able to "preach" about topics like drugs and politics, but it does so with a softer hand, more exploratory than instructive. Perhaps it’s because I'm an older person who remembers those very famous, very educational after-school specials, but I appreciate just watching these college kids screw stuff up and hash out their mistakes one-to-one (it is a TV show, after all; they’re going to figure it out by the end).

More: 12 Young Adult Shows You'll Actually Want to Watch With Your Teens

While all the Black-ish characters are pretty good, there are definite standouts, notably Marsai Martin's Diane and Tracee Ellis Ross' Rainbow. Grown-ish doesn't feel like it favors particular characters, instead boasting a choice core cast. Here, Zoey is joined by an almost Friends-like ensemble, equal parts male and female, who work best in a group and even better when the ladies come together. Together, they form a friend group that challenges Zoey to live out her beliefs and calls her to task when she doesn’t. It’s a process that feels organic to anyone who has risen through young adulthood and made it to the other side.

Grown-ish takes some of the best elements of Black-ish — smart writing, uncomfortable situations and humor — and communicates important messages, but it does so with a softer hand. Zoey doesn’t already have the answers the same way Dre does. She’s learning as she goes, mostly through her own mistakes and a patient group of friends who love her. Who can’t relate to that? Who doesn’t want that?

Despite the fact that it's only going into its sophomore season, there's so much about Grown-ish that, when you really think about it, makes it so much better, more dynamic, more enjoyable than the show it's developed from. The more I think about it, the more I think Grown-ish might actually join the ranks of other great spinoffs — Law & Order SVU, Saved By the Bell, The Jeffersons and so on — that over time outshone their original series.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus Talks About Treating Her Cancer While Filming Veep Season 7

When Veep season seven premieres in 2019, it will be the series' last — and shortest — season, with just seven episodes to wrap up the adventures of Vice President Selina Meyer (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) and company. However, fewer episodes doesn't mean the season was any easier to shoot — in fact, for Louis-Dreyfus, it was one of the most harrowing because she was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer right before filming was scheduled to begin.

More: How Julia Louis-Dreyfus Is Feeling at This Stage of Her Breast Cancer Battle

In a new interview with The Washington Post, Louis-Dreyfus opens up about her cancer treatments and how they affected production on the show as well as why she didn't just consider walking away to focus on her health. In just two words, she reveals that wasn't even an option: "Oh, no," she said. Then she added, “I love making people laugh, and I love making people cry even, and I find the pursuit of a truthful performance to be deeply satisfying to my core."

Per the Post, Louis-Dreyfus went in for a biopsy on a Friday in September 2017, then won her latest Emmy (marking 11 total in her career) for playing the veep on Veep on Sunday, then received her cancer diagnosis on Monday. At first, she assumed production could go on as normal.

“Originally, I had this idea, well, we’ll shoot in between my chemo treatments," she said. "We could do that. Chemotherapy. What? That’s what sick people get. The whole thing was so astounding."

However, undergoing treatment — which included surgery as well as chemotherapy, per the Post — was harder than Louis-Dreyfus anticipated. "I thought I could muscle through it, and to a certain extent, I did, because we did have table reads of scripts every three weeks," she said. "But I got really ill, so I couldn’t have ever shot anything during that period of time.”

Louis-Dreyfus also said that she couldn't quite speak to how being diagnosed with cancer has affected her outlook on life as a whole: "I feel like I’m still a little bit in the throes of it,” she admitted. “Except what I would say about the fragility of life, as tropey as that sounds — I really do feel like, I guess people die. You go through life not considering the eventual reality that you’re going to bite the dust, and so is everybody around you.”

Ultimately, filming on Veep season seven was delayed and is happening now; HBO has not released a premiere date yet, but the final season of the award-winning series is expected sometime in spring 2019. We're glad Louis-Dreyfus is moving past this scary period in her life and that her health is on the mend. We'll be rooting for her, both on-screen and off.

You May Want to Avoid Eating Chicken for a While — It Could Make You Sick

Chicken is the most popular meat in America. According to Chowhound — a CBS-owned website — over 28.6 billion pounds of the poultry product are consumed each and every year. And it makes sense, because it's a versatile meat that's easy for families to transform into a bunch of different dishes. But before you head to your fridge to start planning tonight's dinner, we have to let you in on some bad news.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is warning consumers to take extra care when handling and/or cooking chicken, as raw chicken has seriously sickened 92 people in 29 states.

More: Here Are All the Foods Being Recalled — Including Several TV Dinners

The patients have all been infected with a drug-resistant strain of salmonella.

Of the 92 who have fallen ill, 21 have been hospitalized. And while cases have varied in severity — people sick with this strain have experienced stomach pain, cramps, diarrhea and fever lasting anywhere from 12 to 72 hours — no deaths have been reported.

The source of the outbreak, which started in January, is unclear, and a single, common supplier has not been identified. However, the strain of salmonella in question has been found in various raw chicken products, including pet food, ground chicken, chicken pieces and whole chickens. As such, the CDC is advising all consumers and retailers to handle raw chicken carefully and with caution and to cook it thoroughly to prevent food poisoning, i.e. chicken should always be cooked to an internal temperature of 165 degrees F, and individuals should wash their hands before and after touching the product. Prep areas, utensils and/or cooking surfaces should also be thoroughly disinfected with warm, soapy water.

Here's Why It's So Difficult to Get an Accurate Ovarian Cancer Diagnosis

The good news is that ovarian cancer is relatively rare. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, it accounts for only 3 percent of all cancer diagnoses. However, the bad news is that ovarian cancer causes more deaths than any other cancer of the female reproductive system and is the fifth-leading cause of cancer deaths among women. And a recent study — conducted by the World Ovarian Cancer Coalition — may offer some insight as to why: People are extremely undereducated about the disease.

In fact, two-thirds of the women surveyed had never heard of ovarian cancer and/or did not know anything about it before their diagnosis.

More: Signs of Ovarian Cancer You Might Miss

But that's not all; according to the study, 9 out of 10 women revealed they experienced symptoms prior to their diagnosis, but fewer than half visited a doctor within a month of noticing said symptoms.

The study surveyed 1,500 women in 44 countries, and while a lack of patient awareness was perhaps the biggest (and most surprising) takeaway, researchers also found there was a lack of awareness among doctors, which resulted in diagnostic delays; there was a lack of access to genetic testing, both pre- and post-diagnosis; and there was a severe lack of access to treatment, despite this being of the utmost importance.

Annwen Jones, CEO of Target Ovarian Cancer in the U.K. and cochair of The Every Woman Study, said in a statement that this study provides powerful evidence of the challenges faced by people diagnosed with ovarian cancer across the world and sets an agenda for global change.

"We were especially shocked by the widespread, woeful lack of awareness of ovarian cancer," she added. "It is vital that urgent steps are taken in every country to raise awareness of the disease and speed up diagnosis so that we can transform the outlook for the increasing numbers of women and their families affected by ovarian cancer around the world."

More: Low-Dose Aspirin May Help Prevent & Treat Ovarian Cancer

So, what can we do to stay on top of our ovarian health? To start with, we should be more aware of the signs of ovarian cancer and speak up if your doctor isn't taking your pain or concerns seriously. The more everyone is aware of ovarian cancer — including medical professionals — the better chance people have of surviving the diagnosis.

Idris Elba Joins the Amazing Cats Movie Musical Cast, & Twitter Can't Deal

Cats is hitting theaters again in 2019 — as a film rather than a Broadway play. The long-awaited adaptation of Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber's infamous musical (which is one of the longest-running shows in West End and Broadway history) already has a superstar cast, with new names being added all the time. The newest addition has us especially excited: Idris Elba.

More: Idris Elba’s Response to New James Bond Rumors Has Fans Shaken & Stirred

Variety reports that Elba will join Sir Ian McKellen, Jennifer Hudson, Taylor Swift, James Corden and Laurie Davidson in Cats, which is being directed by Tom Hooper (Les Misérables, The King's Speech). This will be Elba's second turn in a feline role. In 2016, he played Shere Khan in the 2016 live-action version of Disney's The Jungle Book.

According to IMDb, Elba has been cast as Macavity in the upcoming Cats adaptation. The character hails from T.S. Eliot's poem "Macavity the Mystery Cat," which is part of the Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats — which inspired Webber's Broadway hit. Macavity is a master criminal and the only real villain in the play; he kidnaps the leader of the Jellicles and attempts to kidnap another cat, Demeter, who sings one of two songs about him in the musical.

Twitter fans were absolutely loving this casting announcement when it broke. In a viral tweet, performer Natalie Walker wrote the very, ahem, vivid tweet: "If Andrew Lloyd Webber gives me Idris Elba in spandex............ ok bitch that is a checkmate on Sondheim." We get it, sis. We totally get it.

Clearly, people are into Elba as Macavity. Another said they're looking forward to the film for two reasons: "It is going to have Idris Elba and Taylor Swift and it is going to be so EPIC and I am a kid again and in love with this idea."

Another user reminded those who are new to Cats that it's unlikely Elba will be singing any solos in this role: "It is really important to me, as someone who has seen CATS on Broadway 3 (!!) times, that you know that Macavity does not actually sing the 'Macavity' song. Two other cats do. So unless they rework things, @idriselba will not have a solo in the live action CATS movie. I'm sorry."

Someone else chimed, "IF IDRIS ELBA IS CAST AS MACAVITY I WILL LOSE. IT. Big time, big girl tears levels of lose it." Please don't lose it, dear Twitter fan!

And naturally, there were just lots of tweets from like-minded folks who are just super-into Elba's casting, full stop.

We know that Elba can handle playing a bad cat because he did so well with Shere Khan, so we can't wait to see how he handles Macavity on the big screen. We're curious how the cast will continue to shape up — and we're sure the first trailer is going to be a doozy.

Cardi B Gets Refreshingly Honest About Childbirth

Cardi B learned the hard way that giving birth is no easy feat — and she wants to tell you all about it. The chart-topping rapper and new mother shared her painful experience with Jimmy Kimmel on Wednesday night and didn't mince her words.

More: This Is Why Cardi B Doesn't Have a Nanny for Baby Kulture

"She broke my vagina," Cardi said of her 4-month-old daughter, Kulture. "Why nobody told you about those things? Nobody told me they were going to stitch my vagina. People be like, 'When you give birth, it's going to hurt,' but nobody tells you."

Clearly, Cardi didn't do a quick Google search on what it's like to give birth. If she had, she probably would have found this slideshow from the Mayo Clinic outlining different types of vaginal tears. Perhaps she even would have learned that vaginal and perineal tearing during childbirth is totally normal and, in most cases, heals easily with the help of simple stitches. Is it comfortable? Honestly, no. But millions of women who have gone through the postpartum-healing process can attest to the fact that things will get better down there over time.

More: 7 Must-Have Items for Postpartum Care

Though the experience left her shaken, it hasn't dissuaded her from having more children in the future. In fact, she's already thinking of expanding her brood.

In addition to tweeting about wanting to get pregnant again, Cardi told Kimmel she would like to have three or four kids, and she's willing to sacrifice peace to make it happen.

"I do feel like I need rest, but the happiness that my baby brung [sic] me, it's just like, 'I could do this over and over again," she said.

More: Cardi B Reveals She Tapes Her Post-Baby Breasts

And yes, she knows that her kids are likely to inherit her no-filter attitude, especially since Kulture already has. "She's very feisty," Cardi said. "My husband used to tell me, 'Stop screaming and stop catching an attitude when you're pregnant because you're going to pass that to the baby.' And it's like, 'I did.'"

Something tells us dealing with pesky postpartum stitches will be the least of Cardi's parenting troubles.

Queen Elizabeth II's New Royal Portrait Features One Key Detail You'll Love

It can be tough to remember that the members of the royal family are people too — especially in portraits that show them sitting primly in gilt chairs. That's why portrait artist Benjamin Sullivan included an unexpected detail in a commissioned portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, which the queen herself revealed at a celebration of 100 years of the Royal Air Force Club in London on Wednesday.

In the portrait, which shows the queen in a gold-covered chair wearing a pale blue dress, pearls and low black heels, is her signature black leather Launer London purse on the floor beside her. According to Entertainment Tonight, Sullivan said the queen placed her bag there when she sat for the portrait; originally, it wasn't meant to be included in the piece.

“It’s where she put it, and I thought I could take it out, but then I thought – actually it’s quite a nice thing, a personal thing," he said. After the unveiling, Sullivan told the press, "I think the idea was to capture something of the role of the monarch, but one tries to get behind that to the person. And I really like the idea her handbag was placed in front of the gilt chair. It was almost happenstance that it was placed there but it gives some idea there’s actually a person as well as a figurehead, it’s personal.”

According to ET, the queen has been a fan of Launer London purses ever since designer Sam Launer sent her one in 1968. At Wednesday's unveiling, she again wore blue. In addition to revealing the portrait, the event also marked the opening of the Royal Air Force Club's new wing and other newly commissioned artworks.

The royal family has had a number of big announcements this week, including Princess Eugenie's wedding and the news that Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan (née Markle) of Sussex are expecting their first child together. Carrie Underwood Says Her Second Pregnancy Is Harder Than Her First

Carrie Underwood's pregnancy with her second child is posing some new challenges the singer didn't experience with her son, Isaiah.

"It's definitely different than the first time," Underwood told Entertainment Tonight at the 2018 CMT Artists of the Year ceremony. "When they say every pregnancy is different, it really is. Just different symptoms. I feel like this one is just a little harder on my body for some reason. But it's been really good."

More: Carrie Underwood Is Pregnant Again, & Her Announcement Is Too Cute

Underwood announced on Instagram in August that she and her husband, former hockey player Mike Fisher, were "over-the-moon excited to be adding another little fish" to their pond. Underwood told ET that 3-year-old Isaiah is excited too, but he's already laid down one big brother ground rule: He won't be changing "any poopy diapers." Can't blame the kid, really!

While Underwood and her hubby haven't revealed the sex of the child, they have picked out a name. But don't expect to learn it anytime soon; the family plans to keep that information private for the time being. For now, they're focusing on moving and stocking up on baby supplies.

"We're fixing to move," Underwood said. "I haven't bought anything yet, we still have some of the stuff, cribs and stuff from my son, but we'll figure it out. We're about to move, so I'll start buying stuff once we're there. It'd be pointless to buy it and then move it."

Sounds practical to us!

Moving is only one thing on Underwood's plate this fall. The country music superstar recently received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, released a new song for Sunday Night Football and performed at the American Music Awards. Not to mention, she's probably busy prepping for her May 2019 "Cry Pretty Tour 360."

Britney Spears has been performing in Las Vegas for many years — to the point that she was basically a fixture for years, with her residency at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino running from 2013 to 2017. However, Spears ended her tenure at Planet Hollywood on New Year's Eve after that successful four-year run. We may have thought it would be the end of her time in Vegas, but a new report has us thinking chances are good the pop star is going back to Sin City for an exciting new gig.

According to Entertainment Tonight, Spears is reportedly heading back to Vegas for a new stint at the Park Theater at Park MGM. Spears has yet to officially confirm the news, though ET suspects Spears will share more details when she appears at T-Mobile Arena Spirit Day rally for GLAAD in Vegas on Thursday. That said, Spears has already teased that something big was coming.

During an Ellen DeGeneres Show appearance earlier this month, Spears said, “I have a huge announcement to make. My announcement is that I have an announcement. I can’t announce it until Oct. 18." At the time of reporting, she hasn't personally made that big announcement, but goodness knows were looking forward to that sweet, sweet confirmation of these reports.

Of course, until the pop star makes her news official, the reasoning behind her decision remains unclear. However, her reportedly $507,000 contract — $507,000 per show that is — may have something to do with it. Additionally, a source close to Spears also told ET why she is reportedly keen to return to Vegas. "She misses a routine and wants to have one," the source said.

Netflix Has 4 New Christmas Movies Coming Soon (& You'll Want to Watch Them All)

It's not even Halloween, but some of us are already gearing up to celebrate winter holidays like Christmas at the end of the year. Every year, Hallmark and Lifetime produce campy original Christmas movies that become our guilty pleasures, but with streaming services like Netflix and Hulu in the original content game too, that means our options for fun Christmas content have only increased with time.

More: Netflix's New Cooking Competition Might Just Be Better Than Top Chef — Might

This year, Netflix has at least four original Christmas movies on its release calendar according to Entertainment Weekly. Here's what we know about each.

The Holiday Calendar

Holiday content on Netflix will kick off with a strong dose of psychic activity in The Holiday Calendar starring Kat Graham. Graham plays a photographer who inherits an antique holiday advent calendar that can apparently predict the future. But that's not all — the movie also features eye candy in the forms of Ron Cephas Jones, Quincy Brown and Ethan Peck.

The Holiday Calendar premieres Nov. 2 on Netflix.

The Princess Switch

Netflix is big on royal-themed fare for its Christmas movies this year. In addition to the Christmas Prince sequel (more on that in a sec), there's The Princess Switch starring Vanessa Hudgens. In the film, Hudgens plays two roles: Margaret, the Duchess of Montenaro, and a commoner named Stacy who — you guessed it — happens to look exactly like the Duchess. When these two characters magically switch places a week before Christmas, Santa's helper decides to do a little matchmaking. Margaret falls hard for Stacy's coworker (Nashville's Sam Palladio), while Stacy connects with Margaret's fiancé, a prince. Sounds like exactly the kind of body-swapping romance we love.

The Princess Switch premieres Nov. 16 on Netflix.

The Christmas Chronicles

Who knew Father Christmas could be so cool? In The Christmas Chronicles, Kurt Russell dons Santa's famous red coat and white beard and then goes on a mission to save Christmas. He enlists the help of a brother-sister duo along the way and, according to the trailer, flies cars as well as sleighs, employs elves who know how to floss and even sings with a jazz band.

The Christmas Chronicles premieres Nov. 22 on Netflix.

A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding

Last year's Netflix original movie A Christmas Prince starring Rose McIver and Ben Lamb generated enough buzz to push Netflix into creating a sequel. In A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding, Amber (McIver) and Prince Richard (Lamb) are planning a Christmas wedding one year after she helped him take the crown in the original film. Of course, Amber isn't sure if she's ready to be queen, and Prince Richard has to deal with a major political crisis, which puts a bit of a downer on things. Netflix released a brief teaser trailer for the sequel in May, playing off actual royal weddings that have happened this year.

A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding premieres Nov. 30 on Netflix.

Burger King's Nightmare King Burger Is Making Us Turn Green

Fast-food burgers and sweet dreams aren't exactly two things we associate with one another, but Burger King's latest offering, just in time for Halloween, is truly the stuff of nightmares.

Called the Nightmare King, this massive sandwich is definitely going to give your cardiologist a fright. It's a towering stack of fried chicken, a quarter-pound of beef, American cheese, thick-cut bacon, mayonnaise and onions. But the thing that really pushes it over the top is that it's served up between two halves of a glazed green bun (with sesame seeds, of course).

The commercial for the Nightmare King burger is legitimately scary. Apparently, they did a study to see if eating the burger can actually cause nightmares... it turns out it can. The 100 participants in the sleep study were 3.5 times more likely to have bad dreams after eating the sandwich. Is anyone surprised? Eating that much meat before bed, never mind the mayonnaise and cheese, can't be good for anyone's psyche (especially if you pair it with the chain's seasonal Frozen Fanta Scary Black Cherry).

If you want to challenge your brain to come up with the spookiest dreams possible this Halloween season, you can pick up a Nightmare King burger at Burger King from Oct. 22 to Nov. 1. Our recommendation? Leave your dream journal and an economy-size tub of Tums on your bedside table before embarking on this gastronomic journey.

Here's the First Look at Leah Remini Investigating the Jehovah's Witnesses for A&E

Leah Remini isn't done examining the inner workings of the Church of Scientology. Her award-winning A&E docuseries, Scientology and the Aftermath, enters its third season in November, and in the new trailer, Remini says she still has several questions about Scientology, which she left in 2013. In addition to her deeper probe into Scientology in season three, she will also be working with co-executive producer Mike Rinder to investigate the Jehovah's Witnesses in a special Scientology and the Aftermath. With trailers dropping for both programs, it would be an understatement to say we are already very curious to see what happens.

More: Leah Remini Claims Talking to Katie Holmes About Scientology Would End Badly

In the trailer for the two-hour special, Scientology and the Aftermath: The Jehovah's Witnesses (premiering Tuesday, Nov. 13 at 9/8c), Remini and Rinder will explore another religion that allegedly has a similar "cultlike" structure to Scientology: the Jehovah's Witnesses.

"I thought Jehovah's Witnesses were just nice people knocking on doors," Remini says in the first trailer for the new special. "We have received many letters, 'Please look into the Jehovah's Witnesses.'" The trailer goes on to pull quotes from Remini, Rinder and others, who are apparently sitting in a room together for a conversation about the religion and its structure.

"We owe the people who have asked for our help to actually do something," Rinder says at one point, only adding to the enigmatic air surrounding what will undoubtedly be an intense episode investigating yet another secretive group.

And when it comes to season three of Scientology and the Aftermath (premiering on Tuesday, Nov. 27 at 9/8c), expect Remini and Rinder to be just as laser-focused on finding answers and taking their investigation deeper into Scientology. The trailer for season three begins with a bang, with an unseen voice asking, "It's season three. Is there anything with Scientology you're still curious about?" while we see Remini sitting alone in a dark room. She looks around, seeming confused by the question, then says, "Yeah, I'm [bleep] curious."

Remini goes on to list what she's curious about, including, "I'm curious about where the leader of Scientology's wife is. I'm curious why someone would have to disconnect from their own daughter because your church thinks they are enemies. I'm curious why you have your members sign nondisclosure agreements and then claim you have nothing to hide."

She also questions why the Church of Scientology has tax-exempt status, reiterating her claims that the church bullies people, has people followed and "destroy[s] their lives utterly." She adds, "Curious? Well, yeah. Since you asked."

More: Leah Remini Has a New Job, & No, It Has Nothing to Do With Scientology

In the past, Remini has come under fire for allegations she has been bullied by the Church of Scientology since leaving the organization in 2013. However, Scientology and the Aftermath won an Emmy in 2017, and A&E has refused to pull the show, even after the church attempted to convince advertisers to boycott. Remini reportedly also has plans to look into cults like NXIVM next.

Having Natural Light in Your Home Comes With a Major Health Benefit

The sun serves many functions. It helps dictate the seasons and brings life to insects, plants, flowers and trees and vitamin D — a vitamin that is produced when the human body is exposed to sunlight — has copious health benefits, from lowering one's blood pressure to elevating their mood. But a new study published in the journal Microbiome revealed the sun offers yet another perk: It can kill disease-causing bacteria.

More: Climate Change Could Impact Our Mental Health — We're Just Not Exactly Sure Why

The study, conducted by researchers at the University of Oregon, set up 11 identical dollhouse-size rooms. Some of the rooms were exposed to daylight through regular glass, some rooms were exposed to ultraviolet light only and other rooms were kept completely in the dark. The miniature rooms were then filled with dust to replicate an actual living environment and placed outside for 90 days, after which the rooms' bacterial levels were tested.

The results of the study were not surprising: The rooms exposed to daylight had fewer germs than their darkened counterparts. In fact, the sunlit rooms had 50 percent less viable bacteria. However, researchers did not expect the UV rooms to perform as well as they did.

In fact, the rooms exposed to UV light only fared even better than the naturally lit rooms, as they had the lowest bacteria levels of all.

This study found 12 percent of the bacteria in the dark rooms were viable compared to 6.8 percent in the rooms with daylight and 6.1 percent in the rooms exposed to UV light only.

That said, researchers still do not know what the optimum level of light is — the perfect amount for killing germs, that is — but they hope further studies will yield this information so architects and builders can incorporate this information into future designs.

How to Combat Seasonal Depression While Going Through a Breakup

Breakups are tough. If you’ve bid adieu to your summer fling, you might be going through one right now. While going through a breakup is difficult at any time of year, they might be particularly hard to “snap out of” when dealing with seasonal affective disorder.

“SAD is when a person experiences depressive symptoms each year at the same time and is triggered by the change in season, usually occurring between summer and fall,” Dr. Connie Omari, a North Carolina-based online counselor, tells SheKnows.

According to Omari, SAD has many symptoms that we associate with depression but are exacerbated during the darker months, including moodiness, anxiety, loneliness, loss of interest, excess sleepiness or insomnia and appetite changes.

Loneliness? Anxiety? Loss of appetite? If that sounds like signs from your last breakup, that’s because a breakup can also trigger depression according to Dr. Carolina Castaños, a licensed marriage and family therapist.

“Many times, individuals going through a breakup experience depression,” Castaños tells SheKnows. “This depression might be related with past wounds that have not healed and that are triggered, many times unconsciously, by this experience.”

Why the weather makes a breakup worse (& vice versa)

Not surprisingly, SAD can make the perception of a breakup even more challenging.

“The multitude of emotions that often accompany a breakup make it difficult to follow through with even the simplest of responsibilities,” clinical psychologist Dr. Jodi J. De Luca tells SheKnows. “Individuals experiencing SAD in addition to a recent breakup may experience a heightened emotional vulnerability. Therefore, it is critical to self-monitor stress levels, degrees of depression and anxiety, sleep patterns and tendencies to socially isolate.”

More: Why Sunny Days Actually Make My Anxiety Worse

Additionally, most people don't realize that breakups typically involve going through a grief process that can be as depressing, if not more depressing, than the death of a loved one, Omari notes.

"In death, a person can seek comfort in knowing that the separation is permanent and cannot be restored," she says. "That is often not the case in breakups. Therefore, a person experiencing a breakup while also struggling with SAD will be faced with extreme feelings of grief in the process, which makes their experience with SAD even worse.”

Suffering from SAD and a breakup simultaneously can leave the individual feeling hopeless and with less energy, says Castaños. It also makes depressive symptoms more intense and harder to cope with. “It can also be tricky because it is difficult to assess if the depressive symptoms are caused by SAD or they have to do with the actual experience,” she says.

How to try to feel better

Regardless of it being SAD or depression or sadness as part of the grieving process, the first thing to do, according to Castaños, is to take care of yourself, which means eating healthily, exercising and making sure you get enough sleep. She also recommends having a support system in place as well as learning to be aware of your feelings, regulating your emotions and allowing yourself to be sad but in a kind, compassionate way.

“Once we start doing these things, we can allow ourselves to go through the different emotions that involve grief, like sadness, anger, guilt and eventually reach a point where we can find something to learn from this experience,” Castaños says.

Because the symptoms will likely look very similar and be difficult to differentiate, Omari recommends healing the symptoms of SAD and breakups concurrently. “By addressing the symptoms together, you address the whole person, which is necessary no matter what counseling needs a person has,” she says.

In addition to recommending psychotherapy by clinicians trained in helping clients through relationship transitions, Omari recommends journaling with the use of a mood-lighting lamp to help heal.

“The benefits of journaling include relaxation, validation, revising the end to your story, decreasing depression and reducing stress and anxiety,” she says. “Mood-lighting lamps act as artificial light designed to combat the dark, which triggers SAD. They are associated with improving melanin production and increasing metabolism. Both [journals and lamps] can be purchased inexpensively and work well together for combating SAD while facing a breakup.”

More How to Get a Handle on Holiday Depression

Since low self-esteem and self-doubt are common after a breakup, particularly if you experience SAD, De Luca says that identifying priorities and establishing realistic goals are critical elements post-breakup.

“Priorities serve as a type of 'road map' by which we can navigate our life and achieve our goals,” she says. “Goal achievement adds to a sense of accomplishment and fulfillment, assists in decreasing depression and ultimately contributes to a more fulfilling quality of life.”

De Luca suggests creating a timeline for personal and professional success. “By nature, the human brain likes structure and is very goal-oriented. The end of a relationship can be traumatic, and emotions make it difficult to follow through with even the simplest of responsibilities,” she says. “Setting priorities and goals with established deadline dates can help the brain to organize and compartmentalize tasks, ultimately leading to decreased stress and successful goal achievement.”

While learning to change one’s perspective in order to find healing and peace is the ultimate goal, Castaños says it’s important to remember that this learning is a process and does not happen overnight.

Because, ultimately, whether we have SAD or not, when dealing with a breakup, Castaños says, it’s important to view it as “an experience that challenged us to confront our fears and allowed us to grow and to be a better version of ourselves."

This Bachelor Nation Alum Will Officiate Ashley Iaconetti & Jared Haibon's Wedding

We can't get enough of our favorite Bachelor in Paradise couple. When Jared Haibon and Ashley Iaconetti get married next year, a familiar face will be waiting at the end of the aisle to officiate the ceremony, and they are clearly very excited about it. Honestly, so are we. The couple revealed via Instagram on Thursday that fellow Bachelor Nation alum Tanner Tolbert will assist them in exchanging vows at their August 2019 wedding, as they've apparently wanted for some time.

On Thursday, Haibon shared a super-sweet photo of him and Iaconetti holding hands on an idyllic pier in San Juan, Puerto Rico, with Tolbert behind them holding out his hands as if a book were in them. The posed pic is captioned, "Dearly beloved, @tanner.tolbert is officiating our wedding in August 2019. This is a preview of things to come."

In the bottom part of the frame, Tolbert's daughter is clearly trying to get in on the action — maybe as a flower girl? According to Entertainment Tonight, Haibon and Iaconetti are currently on vacation in Puerto Rico with Tolbert, wife Liz Roper and their daughter, Emmy. That seems like a great time to discuss the upcoming nuptials — and ask Tolbert to officially participate in the ceremony.

Also on Thursday, Tolbert shared a snap of the group standing together in matching clear plastic rain ponchos (or possibly trash bags). Haibon is holding Emmy, which prompted several fans to comment on the photo about how great he'll be as a dad.

Tolbert also reposted Haibon's photo from the pier, writing, "Who cries the most at their wedding? Jared, Ashley, or me???" Our money is on all three of them, if we're honest.

Tolbert agreeing to officiate the wedding is a big deal for his Bachelor In Paradise friends. Haibon and Iaconetti told ET in July that they hoped he would. "I can already see him with his smile again," Haibon said.

Iaconetti added, "He'll provide the laughs, cries. Not just cries, but the laugh cries."

Although the couple haven't revealed the exact date of their summer wedding, Haibon said it will take place in the first two weeks of August. Iaconetti revealed that they've picked out a venue, and she has apparently said yes to a dress. The two are planning to wed in Haibon's native New England, but don't count on seeing it broadcast. Haibon told ET that the ceremony likely won't be televised.

It seems like everything is falling into place for this Bachelor in Paradise couple, who attribute their success to becoming friends first before diving into a romance together. We're glad Tolbert is as excited about officiating the Iaconetti-Haibon wedding as they are, and we can't wait to see photos of the big day.

Survivor's Bi Nguyen Rejects the Idea That She's a Quitter

It was an elimination with a surprise twist. Survivor: David vs. Goliath delivered another shocker when Bi Nguyen voluntarily left the competition because of a knee injury she sustained during a challenge. But why leave the game so early if the medical team didn't think it was necessary? Was there something else we didn't see?

SheKnows had the opportunity to ask Nguyen those questions in a one-on-one conversation in which the MMA fighter noted that her departure shouldn't be considered quitting. Plus, she revealed behind-the-scenes info on which player was her closest ally — and it's somebody you probably wouldn't expect.

SheKnows: It was surprising to see you announce your decision to quit the game. Was there any medical assessment in which it was suggested you leave, or was it solely your decision?

Bi Nguyen: There was definitely a lot of medical talk, but this was solely on my decision. After the challenge, I knew that something was wrong because I had already torn the same exact MCL before. We had Dr. Joe look at it, we had the team look at it, and he said, "It's not torn, so I'm not pulling you from the game. But it is sprained and hyperextended." He wrapped it up, we went back to camp and he said, "I'll leave it up to you." I spent hours and hours thinking about it and came to the tough decision.

SK: But why leave at that moment instead of seeing if you felt better in a day or so?

BN: I didn't want to quit right after the challenge because I wanted to see through the night how it would go. With knee injuries, you have to see if it inflames real bad. While I was at camp, I was walking around and it was just not feeling good. I was so unstable and it was so scary. I knew a tear was coming, so I made my decision halfway that night.

More: Survivor Contestant Pat Cusack Tells Us About His Heartbreaking Exit

SK: So your decision to leave the game happened the day after the injury?

BN: Yes. It was literally overnight. I just needed to see how it would be in the morning. It was worse and so painful. I know my knee. I know my body, and I knew I was on the verge of worse.

SK: Did you discuss your thoughts with the tribe before making your decision to leave the game?

BN: I told my team the night before. I said, "Hey, I'm gonna wait, but I am thinking about it." We cried and we were distraught. They were really supportive, but I said, "In the morning I will make the final decision. I'm gonna try my best to stay in the game." In the morning when it was really bad, the teammates saw how painful it was and how it swelled up. We knew that morning that I was going to announce I was leaving.

Photo of David tribe on Survivor: David vs. Goliath

SK: Jeff Probst said more than once that you were quitting. Do you feel "quit" is the right word to label your decision to leave the game?

BN: I think quitting is not the word I would choose, but technically I was not medevaced. It was just such a bad situation. I could've stayed and torn my knee; it wouldn't have been worth it to me. I knew if I would've stayed, I would've torn my knee. I did leave on my own account, but I don't think I really had a choice. I think my injury forced my hand.

SK: Looking back, do you regret the decision you made?

BN: I'm upset because I played the game like I wanted to and I was in a good position. I've been fighting for a long time. It could've been 30 seconds after I announced I was gone that I could've torn my MCL. It could've been anytime, and I would have regretted injuring myself and hurting my career more than I would have regretted this decision.

More: Survivor's Jeremy Crawford Makes a Bold Claim About Another Contestant

SK: What has the feedback been like from fans?

BN: Oh my God. So many supportive fans. Everybody is like, "Please come back and play again. We know that people who quit don't get to come back, but we wish you can." Boy, do I wish I get to come back. I've had only a few people not really understand my decision, but then again, not everybody knows that I'm an athlete and what goes into my sport. But mostly, it has been overwhelming support and love.

Photo of Bi Nguyen and other castaways on Survivor: David vs. Goliath

SK: How is your knee today?

BN: My knee today is about 75 percent. I can do everything in my sport right now. I don't consider myself being injured right now, but it's not strong. It's not 100 percent. I hope to get it back to that point, but I fought for a world title right after I sprained that knee.

SK: Who was the person you wanted to go to the end of the game with?

BN: I thought it was Gabby. What people didn't know is me and Gabby had a strong alliance, just her and I. We had a strong friendship. We just didn't make it apparent. I made a mistake by not reassuring her enough with the votes, and that's why she felt a little paranoid and unsure with me. She felt like she had to go with the vote to take Jessica out. That was my mistake. But, originally, Gabby was my strongest ally.

Queen Elizabeth is a busy lady, and she's getting on in years, so when she sleeps, she needs good sleep. As someone who regularly stays up into the wee hours of the morning on the internet before waking up early for work the next morning, I can totally relate. Well, kind of.

But her key to a good night's sleep isn't something fancy, like designer Ambien or handmade silk sheets. Instead, she relies on a total classic to lull her into dreamland: a hot water bottle.

Hot water bottles have been used for more than a century, and you can get them online or at the drugstore for about $10. Basically, you fill one with hot water, put in the stopper and place it in your bed to keep things warm and cozy. The rubber material keeps the water hot, so you stay perfectly heated while you drift off to sleep.
