Did Melania Really Swat Donald Trump's Hand Away?

$

A lover's quarrel? Or something deeper?

The internet is losing its mind over a video of Melania and Donald Trump exiting Air Force One in Tel Aviv this week. In the video, they're walking the red carpet when Donald reaches for Melania's hand, and she appears to swat it away.

First things first, the video is pretty ambiguous. It kind of looks like Melania swats Donald's hand, but it also kind of looks like she was reaching for it and missed. We're not ready to straight up say she was throwing shade at him, though it's a distinct possibility. After all, the guy doesn't have the best track record when it comes to treating women with respect. We can only imagine Melania's patience has to end somewhere.

Regardless of what actually happened in the video, Twitter has been having a field day with it, including Chrissy Teigen, who (how do we put this nicely?) isn't exactly known for being kind to people on the social network.

Teigen wasn't the only one to delight in the uncomfortable moment.

Listen, though. I'm as anti-Trump as the next logically thinking, informed American. But these celebs who are rejoicing in their interpretation that this means Melania hates Donald are honestly making me a little sick to my stomach. Think about what it means if that's true. If she hates him, if their marriage is unhappy, unhealthy or, God forbid, abusive, think about her position. Leaving him would mean leaving one of the most powerful men in the world. Do you think she sees that as a viable option right now? It's pretty twisted to think that it's fun to celebrate the idea that someone might be trapped in that kind of relationship.

Melania, I hope it's not true. I hope you love him despite his shortcomings, because if not, I cannot even fathom the misery you're living in right now, and that breaks my heart.

How My Body Tricked Me Into Thinking I Was Going Through Menopause

I had been waking up with hot and cold flashes for weeks it seemed. At times, my heart felt like it was going to beat out of my chest, and sometimes I walked around in a fog. I felt like shouting, “I’m too young for this!” at the top of my lungs. Despite being barely 40, it seemed like I was going through menopause.

I worked hard, so I assumed the exhaustion was from not getting enough rest, and to make matters worse, I slept very poorly most nights. My moods were fluctuating more and more often. I finally decided to go to the doctor.

More: How a Vitamin D Deficiency Almost Destroyed My Life

After a few lab tests, I learned I had a vitamin B-12 deficiency that was likely causing most of my problems. My vitamin D was in the normal range, but barely. And that’s when my doctor told me the problem: vitamin deficiencies often mimic early menopausal symptoms.

Before you jump to the conclusion that you are starting to have menopausal symptoms early like I did, you might want to check with your doctor. It turns out, many women diagnosed with premenopausal symptoms really had vitamin deficiencies. The primary two vitamin deficiencies commonly mistaken for menopausal symptoms are Vitamin B-12 and Vitamin D because the symptoms from both these vitamin deficiencies often mimic those of menopause.

Mandy Wright, a nurse practitioner who specializes in vitamin deficiencies, tells SheKnows that some of the most common symptoms of vitamin B-12 and D deficiencies mimic those of menopause, including hot flashes, sleep disturbances and mood changes. When seeing a patient, Wright always checks for vitamin deficiencies as part of routine blood work knowing that in her experience, this is something that many clinicians tend to overlook. Left untreated, these simple vitamin deficiencies can cause far more serious health challenges. Wright recommends women ask their health provider to check for these deficiencies if they are experiencing any of these symptoms to reduce further risks of other health issues.

MoreStocking Your Medicine Cabinet? Here Are the Prenatal Vitamins You Need to Take

Overlapping symptoms

There are many overlapping symptoms of menopause, vitamin D deficiency and vitamin B-12 deficiency, Wright says. In the early stages of menopause, as the hormonal levels fluctuate and change, women often experience depression, anxiety, chronic fatigue, brain fog, memory loss, headaches, hot and cold flashes, difficulty sleeping and mood swings. Other symptoms you might experience are muscle weakness, heart palpitations, breathlessness and pain. These are some of the main symptoms associated with both vitamin B-12 and vitamin D deficiencies.

Vitamin B-12

Vitamin B-12 is essential for many biological functions, such as metabolic energy, a properly working nervous system and cognitive clarity. Even our reproductive system relies on it to perform correctly. People with vitamin B-12 deficiency tend to have chronic fatigue and are at a greater risk of having a stroke or heart attack. While you can also take supplements to increase your intake of B-12, some excellent food sources are beef liver, sardines, tuna, salmon, eggs and raw cheese. If you need to supplement vitamin B-12, you'll probably need between 100 and 400 micrograms daily.

Vitamin D

According to the Endocrine Society's clinical guidelines, vitamin D is essential for having healthy bones, reducing inflammation, moderating immune function and helping to fight colds and flu. It has also been found to boost one’s mood and sense of well-being.

MoreTaking micronutrient supplements during pregnancy may lead to smarter kids

If left untreated, a vitamin D deficiency could put you at greater risk of developing cancer, obesity, cardiovascular disease, depression, diabetes and high blood pressure. You can add some vitamin D to your diet through foods like fish, egg yolks, cheese, beef liver and milk that’s fortified. If you decide to go with a supplement, Endocrine Society guidelines recommend vitamin D3 instead of just plain vitamin D. Recommended daily doses of vitamin D range from 600 IU to 2,000 IU, depending on the health and age of the patient. Of course, one of the best sources of vitamin D is still sunlight. Spending 15 to 20 minutes three times a week in the sun is a great way to get vitamin D in your system.

Since his arrest for leaving the scene of a fatal crime, Chris Soules has been staying out of the spotlight — even filing a written arraignment pleading not guilty in order to avoid an open court arraignment. However, on Wednesday, May 17, Soules suspended his low-profile just long enough to snap a selfie with a fan.

Ashley Overton, the fan who works at an O'Reilly auto parts store in Iowa, shared the photo on her Instagram account, captioning it, "My sweet customer today. #chrissoules"

In subsequent comments, Overton engaged in conversation with several people who criticized the pair for the photo. She explained that after she and Soules had spoken, he mentioned she could take a picture with him if she wanted one.

She also clarified that if she had known Soules was "in hiding," she would never have posted his picture. She emphasized that the former Bachelor is "kindhearted and very sweet."

After her encounter with Soules, Overton posted an emotional video to her YouTube channel expressing her thoughts and prayers for Soules and all of the families involved in the fatal accident Soules was arrested for.

"Don't you ever think that your world can't change in an instant," she said. "None of us are exempt — none of us. It may be the decisions we make, or it could be from someone else's decisions. We are not exempt. It can happen in an instant. Your whole world you knew, your whole life that you knew, in an instant can be over... can be changed forever."

She went on to address the "stone-throwing people" who are quick to condemn Soules.

"I don't have enough room in my pocket for rocks. So if you have never, ever, ever made a mistake, cast the first stone. But otherwise I suggest you put it down," she pleaded, adding, "Do we not all deserve grace?"

Overton's image and story quickly went viral, underscoring just how intense the attention on Soules' case has become. On May 19, Us Weekly reported that Soules is set to appear before a judge for a pretrial conference on July 11.

His trial will then begin on July 19 at 9 a.m. in Buchanan County, Missouri, during which Soules will face the charge of leaving the scene of the fatal accident that killed 66-year-old Kenneth Mosher.

Kourtney Kardashian Gets Cozy with New Bf Younes Bendjima in France

Budding romance knows no bounds! Kourtney Kardashian and her 23-year-old model boyfriend Younes Bendjima have taken their PDA abroad — the affectionate pair was photographed cuddling at the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes, France this weekend.

Kardashian, who is 38, clearly isn't letting ageist double standards get in the way of having a good time with Bendjima. Rock on, little mama! After the rollercoaster of a decade she endured with Scott Disick, Kardashian deserves something light and fun.

Meanwhile, back home in Southern California, Disick was dealing with a decidedly un-fun situation.

During the early hours of Sunday, May 21, his Hidden Hills mansion was burglarized. Although no suspects were found at the scene, the home had been ransacked. According to the latest reports, the burglary is being investigated as an inside job.

"We're looking at all possibilities and should know more in a day or two," Sgt. Wright of the Lost Hills Sheriff Station told the Daily News.

Given that an E! News source claims "Scott doesn't like Kourtney dating Younes at all," it's safe to say Disick had one hell of a rough weekend. Although, if the rumor mill is right, Bella Thorne may have been by his side for support.

Coincidentally, Kardashian reportedly met Younes right around the time of another robbery — during Paris Fashion Week, when Kourtney's sis Kim was held at gunpoint and robbed.

Do not read into that, speculative people of the interwebz.

No one is in any way, shape or form implying Younes had anything to do with Disick's robbery. As you'll well remember, Younes was in France canoodling with Disick's ex at the time the robbery occurred.

Chris Blue Reminds Everyone Why He's a Frontrunner on The Voice

Chris Blue currently enjoys frontrunner status on The Voice, but that's no guarantee of winning Season 12, as Season 11 frontrunner Billy Gilman might remind us after his stunning upset.

More: Vanessa Ferguson Earned Her Save on The Voice Fair & Square

Anything can and will happen during The Voice's finale, but it's easy to see why Blue has gained so much favor among fans, and why so many assume that he's destined to emerge victorious. He's a naturally talented guy, but more importantly, he and his coach employ ingenious strategy in every move they make in the competition.

More: Aliyah Moulden Is The Voice Season 12's Biggest Success Story

Take tonight's song selection, for example. What could better bring down the house in this moment than a spectacular version of the Prince hit "Diamonds and Pearls," performed alongside the amazing Alicia Keys? The duet was all we'd hoped for, and more. Keys is one heck of a performer, but at times, we had to remind ourselves who was the coach and who was the contestant.

More: Kelly Clarkson Is Filling One of Those Red Spinning Seats on The Voice

Any Prince song is a great choice for the finale, especially for a pair like Blue and Keys. First off, we all love Prince, and we appreciate him even more in the aftermath of his tragic passing. Second, Blue's voice is uniquely suited to Prince's repertoire. And third, did we mention that it's Prince?!

Chris Blue and Alicia Keys The Voice video

Chris Blue and Alicia Keys The Voice video

Not just any Prince tune would have done the trick, however. After a year of mourning for music's fallen idol, a few people have (gasp) begun to suffer Prince fatigue and are therefore reluctant to hear any more of such standards as "Raspberry Beret," "1999," or "Let's Go Crazy." So why not pull out a slightly lesser heard, yet still fantastic number? That's exactly what Blue and Keys did, and to great effect. Blue's version of "Diamonds and Pearls" immediately evoked nostalgia, and yet, it felt fresh.

There were some truly remarkable performances during tonight's finale, but Blue's Prince number definitely gave him an edge. We will not be surprised at all if he is crowned the Season 12 winner tomorrow. Good luck to all of the remaining contestants, and job well done!

7 Simple Ways to Show Your Child They Have Your Full Support

$

Having kids is, without a doubt, the hardest job in the world. It's also the most rewarding, but we're pulling no punches here — it can feel like a constant struggle to overcome the nagging fear you aren't doing enough to show your kids they have your full support.

You shower them with affection and love them with every fiber of your being, but the world can be harsh. As the mother of a 6-year-old and a 4-year-old, I often (read: all the time) worry my sweet babies will be swallowed up in some ugliness I'm not privy to and they'll feel unappreciated. Or unaccepted. Or worse still, unloved.

So what are some of the ways we as moms can reinforce our support every day? Fortunately, it's a lot easier than we make it out to be in our heads. Here are a few ideas.

1. Write them a note

Scribble some words of encouragement on a scrap of paper and leave it in their lunchbox or stick it under their pillow. Discovering your loving words could be the very thing that makes their day and gives them the confidence boost they needed.

More: This Mom Told Teachers Her Daughter Is Done With Homework — Forever

2. Share a special code

No matter how many friends your kid has, it's invaluable for them to know that when all is said and done, it's you two against the world in the sense that you're a unit. Your little team will always be intact, regardless of the comings and goings of daily life. If you create a special code word for your kid that only the two of you know the meaning to, it'll be a secret that underscores that bond.

3. Let them pick their passions

While you may have taken piano lessons for five years, your child's interests may be... different. By letting them decide what passions they pursue, you're sending the message that you value their choices and accept them for who they are. Every kid has their own thing that they're into — and it's our job to make them feel good about it. Which leads us to...

4. Embrace their passions

It's one thing to let your kid pick their "thing." It's taking it a step further to embrace that passion too. Your child is unique, and that deserves to be celebrated. What better way to show them support than to join them in the passions that make them unique? Not only will it make your child feel validated in their differences, but it will also provide priceless mama-kiddo bonding time.

More: I Cried in Front of My Kid — and That's OK

5. Listen to them

Like, really listen to them. Trust me, I know how hard that can be at times — we are fairly certain our 6-year-old daughter tries to reach some imaginary and astronomically high word quota every single day. But when we take the time to truly listen to our kids, they know we don't just feel obligated to hear them out, but we actually want to hear them out.

6. Indulge their quirks

For a while, my 4-year-old son had a habit of collecting little skeletons of any and everything, ahem, expired that he found in the yard. A beetle that had a fatal encounter with an ant bed? Score. The hollowed-out (and very stinky, mind you) shell of an old horseshoe crab on the beach? Score. I kid you not; we had the skeleton of a lizard in a little pink Ziploc bag hanging on our fridge for a month once. It's weird to us, but we want our son to know we love how his brain works. We want him to know he can always be himself around us.

More: What Your Teenage Son Wants You to Know, but Won't Tell You

7. Tell them you love them

Sometimes it really is this simple. Just tell them you love them, and tell them often. Tell them more than you think they need to hear it. Tell them all of the things you love about them and how you love that all those things make them into the one-of-a-kind kid you were lucky enough to get.

The 7 Best Sunscreens for Sensitive Skin

$

Riddle us this: Have you ever slathered a seemingly innocent sunscreen onto your super-sensitive skin only to have your face erupt in redness, irritation and stinging? Yeah, we’ve been there, and it sucks. But trust us when we say not all sunscreens are hiding in dark corners, waiting to destroy your skin — you may just be using the wrong type of sunscreen, namely a chemical formulation instead of a physical formulation, and yes, there’s a big difference between the two.

More: LOL: Bella Hadid Just Wore the Exact Hairstyle You Wore in the ’90s

All right, so we all know that both chemical and physical sunscreens protect your skin from harmful UV rays, preventing skin cancer, dark spots and premature aging (yes, we are founding presidents of the Sunscreen Fan Club), right? But you may not know that both work in totally different ways and are not suited for all skin types. In a nutshell, physical sunscreens, which are formulated with either zinc oxide or titanium dioxide, tend to be thicker and more opaque (think: the sunblock on a lifeguard’s nose) and sit on top of your skin to form a ray-deflecting barrier, like a shield. Chemical sunscreens, however, have a bigger concoction of micro ingredients, like avobenzone, octinoxate and homosalate, which slowly sink into your skin to absorb and destroy UV rays.

OK, cool, but what does this have to do with you and your sensitive skin? Well, although chemical sunscreens tend to be more cosmetically elegant, and thus more popular, their mix of skin-penetrating ingredients can be hella irritating to sensitive skin types. And while either choice will still protect your face from the sun, you may want to switch to a physical sunscreen if your skin tends to freak out at anything harsher than a gust of air.

Luckily, though, it’s 2017, and physical sunscreen formulations have come a long way since Baywatch days, feeling more silky and sheer than ever before. And to prove it, we’ve rounded up the seven best physical sunscreens that will make even your angry, hard-to-please, baby-like skin happy. Scroll through them all below, and welcome to the Sunscreen Fan Club.

Tracy Anderson Posts Leaky Boobs, Real-Life Motherhood Pic on Instagram

Tracy Anderson — the celebrity fitness trainer responsible for the care and shaping of some of Hollywood's A-list bods — is keeping it real on Instagram with a post that all nursing moms will relate to. Her Instagram post reveals a scene familiar to breastfeeding mothers, complete with totally wrecked tank top and baby nestled on shoulder.

Tracy Anderson

Tracy Anderson

Anderson — who's trained Madonna, Shakira, Gwyneth (we think Gwyneth no longer needs a last name either), Lena Dunham and Jennifer Lopez among many others — is one of a handful of celebrities who aren't afraid to show breastfeeding in all its awkward, stained-shirt glory. Recently, Peta Murgatroyd of Dancing with the Stars and actress/activist Amber Tamblyn posted similar images of messy breastfeeding life (is that a hashtag? It really should be) and we are crushing on all of them for it.

More: Why Tracy Anderson loathes juice cleanses but loves Gwyneth Paltrow

Anderson even did a breastfeeding interview with The Bump, she's so passionate about nursing.

"I am probably the biggest breastfeeding advocate around," said Anderson. "I have an almost 15-year-old son and I nursed him for three years. So, it was never a question when I became pregnant with my daughter, Penny, whether I would breastfeed or not."

Anderson says she recognizes some moms aren't able to nurse for a variety of reasons, and that's just fine. But she's all for breastfeeding when it's possible:

"I absolutely think that there are incidences where women can’t breastfeed, and I am in no way judging any mother’s path. But, if women can look at the science of it, breastfeeding is the most natural thing. It signals to our bodies that it’s time to pull back and get everything back into place. Also, when they’re born, babies root for the nipple. It’s their nature. I think that anytime you can give something, especially a new life, the natural order of things that that’s the healthiest way to do it."

Anderson has also launched a whole motherhood-related workout DVD collection designed for pregnant and postpartum women. (Which sounds totally cool. Maybe we'll check it out after our pint of Cherry Garcia.)

Thanks to all the leaky ladies in the public eye who are pitching in to normalize breastfeeding — we've still got a long way to go for sure, but we've definitely come a long, long way.

Katy Perry's Thoughts on Ending Her Feud With Taylor Swift Are Confusing

Katy Perry is going to need to get her story straight, because she is sending some incredibly mixed signals about her feelings on her feud with Taylor Swift. Following the release of her deeply shady single "Swish Swish," Perry is trying to clear the air about this ongoing beef with Swift. In Perry's opinion, Swift should be the one to end things because she is the one who started it.

More: Ruby Rose Defends Taylor Swift From Katy Perry's Shady Lyrics in "Swish Swish"

According to E! News, Perry's Carpool Karaoke appearance on The Late Late Show Primetime Special included host James Corden questioning Perry about the feud's origins and what Perry believes should be done to end it. Perry's responses were interesting to say the least, as the video, courtesy of CNN, illustrates below.

Katy Perry James Corden CNN Video

Katy Perry James Corden CNN Video

Perry essentially deflected responsibility for her own actions in this ongoing beef with Swift while telling Corden about this simmering fight. "There's a situation," Perry told Corden. "Honestly, it's really like she started it, and it's time for her to finish it."

Perry continued to tell Corden that after the infamous dancer mix-up that apparently left a thorn in Swift's paw, she tried to call Swift to fix this misunderstanding. "She wouldn't speak to me. I do the right thing anytime that it feels like a fumble. It was a full shutdown and then she writes a song about me and I'm like 'OK, cool, cool, cool. That's how you wanna deal with it?'"

More: Calvin Harris, Katy Perry & Taylor Swift Officially Enter a Shade Love Triangle

Perry was referring to Swift writing the song "Bad Blood," which many believe is about Perry's role in the incident. Now, here's where Perry is her own worst enemy: by implying to Corden that Swift was perhaps petty or wrong in writing "Bad Blood," she appears hypocritical because she allegedly has done exactly the same thing for exactly the same reasons with "Swish Swish." Perry has not confirmed the song is about Swift, but Perry's addressing of the feud while "Swish Swish" is available for people to listen to makes it feel like there's a connection to be made.

More: Katy Perry's Barack Obama Comment Is Some Next-Level Cringe

Considering all the alleged pettiness and back and forth sniping between these two pop singers, Perry's ultimate message about ending this feud is a hell of a thing. "I think personally that women together, not divided, and like none of this petty [bleeped word]," Perry said. "Women together will heal the world."

Now, if you can tell me how women writing dis tracks about one another equals unity and healing, I'll be indebted to you for a good, long while.

13-Week-Old Baby Says, 'I Love You,' Shocks World

We've seen some pretty amazing things in the world of baby news, but this video of a very chatty, very precocious 13-week-old Ellie Reid of Glasgow, Scotland, completely floored us.

Sure, it may look like your basic sweet baby video, but watch what happens when Ellie's mother, Claire, tells Ellie she loves her.

I love you baby

I love you baby

That's definitely an impressive "I love you" from little Ellie, who — according to all the science — should not yet be talking. Sure, babies mimic their parents' coos and faces from an early age. But "I love you" at 13 weeks? Ellie, you've got a career in linguistics, kid. Or on the stage. Or law, maybe. The world is yours for the taking!

More: Bye-bye, baby talk. Long sentences are better for your infant's brain

Claire was taking the video for Ellie's dad, Grant, an engineer who was away overnight.

Grant was blown away. "I was working away in Inverness when Claire sent me the video. I couldn’t believe it. Ellie had just turned 13 weeks old when the video was taken so it really is unbelievable," he said. "I watched the video and straightaway I said: ‘Oh my God’. I was just so shocked. You can see she is trying to copy what Claire is saying and it comes out so clear. We sent the video to our friends and family and they were all completely shocked too."

Just a little baby development refresher for you: Babies generally say their very first words between the age of 12 to 18 months. For real.

The video was shot at the end of April 2017, and Ellie is now 17 weeks. In true stubborn baby fashion, she's not said a word since. Her mom said, "It was just a fluke in the moment... We will show her the video when she’s older, but that’s a long way off yet."

Thank goodness for video proof.

Breast Pumping Tips From a Mom Who's Been There

When I set out to nurse both of my children after they were born, I thought breastfeeding was going to just “magically” happen. Lay back, put baby to breast, and voila — all is right in the world. Well, unfortunately for me, I had insufficient growth tissue, which prevented my body from producing enough milk to exclusively feed my babies with breast milk. I quickly discovered that feeding at the breast was causing anxiety for me and creating a situation that led to my baby not getting enough milk.

More: 1 U.K. Mom Is Speaking Out About Mastitis

Knowing that I still wanted both of my children to receive the benefits of breast milk, I turned to pumping (almost exclusively at times) in order to keep any supply I still had flowing. After two babies and a combined 19 months of pumping and nursing, I’m pretty sure my experience taught me a thing or two about life with a breast pump.

Whether you are pumping exclusively or only when you’re away from your baby, there are some valuable tips and tricks to make this job easier. But before you even start, it is essential that you purchase or rent a quality pump to match your needs. If you are only occasionally pumping, a lower-cost basic pump is probably all you need. However, if you are pumping daily, it’s worth looking into a hospital-grade or retail-grade pump.

Once you have purchased (or rented) a pump, it’s time to get down to business. The following tips and tricks — which focus more on an electric pump rather than a manual pump — will help you become a master at pumping.

Supplies

  • Most moms find it handy to have a “hands-free bra" if they are using an electric pump. This frees up your hands from holding the bottles and keeps the flanges secure to your breasts.
  • With summer approaching, it’s also a good idea to have an extra bra since they will get pretty sweaty. If you don’t want to purchase another one, many moms have luck making their own by cutting holes in an old sports bra.
  • Extra pump flanges and bottles can save a lot of time so you don’t have to wash them between pumping sessions. It’s important to note that there are various flange sizes, so try them out and see which one fits your breast the best.
  • Don’t forget the car adaptor for those times when you have to pump and drive!
  • It makes sense to have an extra set of tubing (remember to clean these out frequently).

During pumping

  • Get comfortable, because pumping can take anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes. Find a space at home or work that you feel the most relaxed — this will help with letdown and potentially the amount of milk you pump.
  • If the flanges seem to irritate your skin, consider coating the inside with the ointment or cream you use on your nipples for nursing.
  • Multi-task! The beauty of a hands-free pump and bra is that you can get a lot of other things done or just simply rest and take a nap. Pump while you drive, work at your computer, watch television, read a book, knit... the possibilities are endless.
  • Pay attention to the settings — it’s not necessarily better to have the pump operating on the highest setting in order to get the maximum amount of milk. Experiment to see what works best for you.
  • If you are pumping during the warmer months, have a fan close by to help cool you down and have a few towels to help absorb the boob sweat that trickles down your stomach.

After pumping

  • If you pump several times a day, put your pump parts in a plastic bag and place them in the fridge for the next use. This allows you to only have to wash the parts at the end of the day — a tip I didn't learn until my second child.
  • When washing at the end of the day, place the parts in a bowl of soapy water and let them soak overnight.
  • Wipes are a great way to clean parts when you are away from soap and water or you just don’t feel like washing another dang thing! Also consider steam bags (used in the microwave) for your parts if you need to do some quick sterilizing.
  • Change the membranes if you notice decreased performance from the pump.
  • If you plan to feed the freshly expressed milk to your baby within four to six hours of pumping, it’s safe to leave it out on the counter at room temperature.
  • Storing milk in the refrigerator and freezer are both options. Label milk with the dates and store with the oldest milk at the front. Freezers are great because breast milk can be stored for up to a year there. Make sure to put the milk in an appropriate storage bag before putting it in the freezer. When you're ready to use it, remove it from the freezer and thaw before warming.
  • Swirl the milk before serving and get ready for the next round of pumping!

Are Feminine Wipes & Washes Actually Safe for Your Vagina?

When people hear the term "feminine hygiene,” their minds immediately go to tampons, pads and other products used for menstrual hygiene. But a feminine hygiene routine encompasses so much more than picking out the types of menstrual products best suited to you — feminine hygiene is about making sure that the entire vaginal region is clean and healthy.

Over the years, vaginal washes have received mixed reviews from consumers — some women love them and some women will never consider using them. Even among health care professionals, there is a great debate over whether vaginal washes are a safe and necessary part of a feminine hygiene routine. These so-called feminine hygiene products — washes, douches and sprays — claim to reduce odor and balance pH, and their marketing tactics seem to be working. According to Bustle, a British market research firm found that 24 percent of women over age 16 have used feminine wipes or a feminine wash in the past six months.

More: The Truth About What Happens to Your Vagina During & After Menopause

But just because so many women are purchasing these products does not mean that they are effective.

Women’s Health reported that many of the products that are designed to help stabilize the pH of a woman’s vagina aren’t even pH-balanced themselves, which can cause further discomfort and irritation down there.

The Food and Drug Administration does not require that feminine wipes, which are classified as cosmetic products, or their ingredients meet FDA approval before they hit the market because they are considered to be low-risk.

The consoling truth is that not all feminine wipes are inherently bad or harmful. As long as they are specifically formulated with the correct pH, they may help to limit pH disruptions in the vagina. Furthermore, a “safe” feminine wipe should be alcohol-free, glycerin-free and fragrance-free, as all of these ingredients can dry out the sensitive skin in and around the vagina.

More: 6 Easy-to-Find Food & Beverage Options That Promote Amazing Vaginal Health

But while some feminine wipes may not be harmful, it’s important to know that they are not intrinsically necessary, especially because the vagina is a self-cleaning part of the body, full of bacteria that is actually healthy for you.

“New healthy cells lie underneath, coming to the surface and creating a liquid-y sensation, similar to the way your mouth creates saliva,” Iffath Hoskins, an OB-GYN at NYU Langone Medical Center told Health.

Most doctors agree that while using vaginal wipes and washes may not be toxic, they do create unnecessary risk for yeast infections, pelvic inflammatory disease and bacterial vaginosis.

More: An Approved List of Things That Can Go in the Vagina (You're Welcome)

“If you’re going to put something inside the vagina, obviously there’s a possibility of having a problem,” she explains. “There’s always a concern that you can insert an infection. The pH in the vagina regulates itself, and douching is going to change the equilibrium. My mindset is there’s no reason to do it,” Hoskins said.

Details are still emerging as the world processes, grieves, investigates and attempts to make sense of the bombing at Ariana Grande's concert in Manchester on Monday night. Now, after initial reports from the Greater Manchester Police Department indicated this attack would be treated as a terrorist incident, ISIL is claiming responsibility.

Per AP's constantly updated coverage, at approximately 12:55 p.m. local time (in Manchester), the Islamic State claimed they planted multiple bombs at the concert; police state that "an 'improvised device' was used in the attack," implying only one device was found at the scene. Additionally, the Islamic State used their own jargon to make their intentions appear credible, claiming that "a soldier of the caliphate planted bombs in the middle of Crusaders gatherings," but they did not comment on the aftermath of the attack.

AP's final note in the updated report on these claims from the Islamic State include this: "The group claimed that '30 Crusaders were killed and 70 others were wounded,' higher than the totals confirmed by authorities in Manchester." At time of reporting, there have been 22 people confirmed dead and 59 injured. It is also confirmed through the Greater Manchester Police Department Twitter that a 23-year-old man was arrested in connection with the attack in the early hours on Tuesday morning.

In the immediate aftermath of the attack, it was confirmed by her reps that Grande was OK and not much else was revealed about her condition. Reports have also come through via TMZ that Grande has suspended her world tour in the wake of the attack. Grande's manager, Scooter Braun, gave a statement to TMZ on Grande's team's feelings as of Tuesday about this tragic attack: "We mourn the lives of children and loved ones taken by this cowardly act. We ask all of you to hold the victims, their families, and all those affected in your hearts and prayers."

ABC Backtracks on 1 Bachelorette Contestant's Transphobic Comments

How an aggressively transphobic Bachelorette comment got past ABC is anyone's guess.

More: Celebrate The Bachelorette Season 13 Premiere With Our Epic Drinking Game

Us magazine reported that one of Rachel Lindsay's suitors on The Bachelorette is coming under serious fire for the transphobic comment he made in his contestant bio, which then somehow got past ABC's editing and marketing teams and made it onto the website. The contestant? Hot firefighter Bryce Powers, who we had such high hopes for. The comment? When asked "What’s your biggest date fear?" Powers answered, "The chick is actually a dude." Yeah, go ahead and cringe. The transphobic comment was later removed from the bio, but not after enraging the internet, because it's 2017 and this shit just doesn't fly anymore.

More: Meet the Men We'll All Be Watching Rachel Date on The Bachelorette

Us also included ABC's pretty minimal statement, predictably saying that Powers' comment isn't reflective of the network or Lindsay, blah, blah, blah. "This comment does not reflect the views of ABC, Warner Horizon or bachelorette Rachel Lindsay," it read, with no apology or acknowledgement of the fact that putting trash like that on your website and then saying it "does not reflect" your views is kind of bullshit.

The comment sparked criticism from LGBTQ and specifically trans communities online. Previous RuPaul's Drag Race winner Sharon Needles tweeted, "Bryce from the Bachelorette’s biggest fear is trans women who are attempting to conceal their birth sex. I see why yer single, douche bag."

One look at Powers' Twitter indicates he hasn't taken responsibility publicly for the comment, but is anyone surprised? Here's hoping he had to room with Lucas the whaboom guy during filming, because at least then we would know that some karmic justice occurred.

Things I Yelled at My TV While Watching The Bachelorette Premiere

My world was dull and gray, but now it is in full color. Because The Bachelorette is back, baby!

God, I love this show.

And this season is going to be one of my favorites. I can already tell.

The premiere tonight had me going through so many stereotypical Bachelor Nation feels. There was Chris Harrison's initial introduction... The play by play of Rachel Lindsay's life leading up to The Bachelorette... The drunk guy... the douchebag...

More: Gut Reactions to Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay's Men

And so much more. Including some moments that almost made me spill my wine. (The horror!)

These are the words that genuinely came spewing from my lips throughout the two-hour premiere tonight.

Ha! Yas, girl!

When Rachel said, "Oh my God. I feel like I'm in the movie Clueless right now."

Awe!

When Rachel brought her dog, Copper, to the Bachelorette mansion. Yeah, I'm a sucker for a dog.

Wait; is this guy serious?

The whaboom guy. It's a joke right?

Say, whaaaaat?

Diggy has over 500 pairs of sneakers?!

Corinne!!!!!!

She's back, and I love her.

Mmm-hmm

When Rachel said, "Here's my thing: I understand that people have their different things for why they come on the show. But my thing is, are you open to what can happen?"

LMAO (that's what I did, FYI, not what I said)

When Rachel said Fred was a "very bad kid."

Nooooooo

When the dude started singing. Ugh. Not another singer.

Whaaabooooooooom

Yeah. I had to try it just once. It really wasn't that exciting. I need more wine.

That's Bachelorette TV magic

Blake and Lucas are already fighting on night one. Yeah, because they know each other from another reality show. The Bachelorette just decided to leave that little fact out.

Bryan!?

I honestly didn't expect Bryan to get the first impression rose, but apparently, Rachel really liked that trouble line.

The Bachelorette Bryan

Come on!

When Lucas didn't get sent home. Clearly, he was a producer pick just to keep up the drama.

No surprise there

The guy that kept growling/purring in Rachel's ear was just way, way too much. Buh-bye.

Other thoughts I had while watching:

I freaking love Rachel. I love that she is having such a good time with the guys. I love that she's bringing her personality. I love that she's just going with the flow of the evening, but also bringing her confidence. Basically, I just love, love, love her as the Bachelorette.

I know Bryan got the first impression rose, but Peter is my top pick for Rachel thus far. Gotta love a good Wisconsin boy.

Pinterest's New Food Filters Practically Plan Dinner for You

Right now, Pinterest is basically a black hole where I get sucked into looking at pretty pictures of food for hours at a time, but my clicking and pinning hasn't always been the most productive. Like, I love the idea of trying out a month of salad recipes, but I'm as likely to actually follow through with that as I am to try the 36 braided looks for medium-length hair I've had saved for about four years now.

But Pinterest is introducing some new features in the food section that could make it a more actionable tool for planning out realistic meals instead of a just a place we go to save aspirational dishes that we might not ever have time to try.

More: 15 Pinterest-worthy spring brunch ideas

There are now filters in the search tool so you can look for recipes by dietary preference — including vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, Paleo — cook time and ingredients (for instance, you can search what you have on hand, and the site will recommend ingredients that pair well with those). These new tools will help you stay focused when you're looking for recipes so you don't just wind up adding yet another pin to your "classic French cuisine" board, when what you really need is a gluten-free dinner using salmon that you can make in 30 minutes or less.

Pinterest food search features

More: 20 Home Decor Trends That Will Be Huge in 2017

Pinterest is also adding star ratings to recipes, so it's easier to judge whether something that looks good is actually going to work out or not (we've all seen too many Pinterest fails to be naive on this front). You can also scroll down on a recipe pin to read comments and feedback from people who've actually tried it.

Pinterest Lens is also getting an expansion. Previously, you could snap a pic of an ingredient and Lens would recommend recipes that use that item. Now, you can search and find related recipes based on full dishes, like waffles and fried chicken, not just single ingredients.

Food and drink is the most searched category on Pinterest, so it makes sense that they're striving to make it as useful as possible. Between the reviews and new search tools, it'll be easier than ever to avoid becoming a Pinterest fail.
