This quick-and-easy mushroom gravy is a snap. If you'd like, skip the chicken stock and use drippings from your roasted turkey instead! This rich and creamy sauce is complemented by the hearty taste of fresh mushrooms and is a great addition to your Thanksgiving dinner.

Mushroom gravy

Serves 6

Ingredients:

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1/4 cup minced onion
  • 2 cups chicken stock
  • 1 tablespoon whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon curry powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Directions:

  1. Saute mushrooms and onion in the butter until softened. Stir in flour gradually and cook for two more minutes, stirring constantly.
  2. Add chicken stock all at once, and stir continously until sauce is smooth and slightly thickened. Add curry powder and pepper, taste, and adjust if necessary.
  3. Pour over turkey and mashed potatoes.
