Fans of the singer thought her new album would be the biggest news of the year. But even bigger may be the multimonth, nationwide tour that she announced Friday night on 20/20.

Taylor Swift joined Katie Couric Friday night to make a big announcement about... something. And many had suspected the news might be a reveal about who "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" might be about. But fans hoping she would talk about her private life were once again disappointed.

However, the actual news turned out to be much better than that little tidbit of information might have been. Swift announced a tour supporting her album Red, which came out on Monday.

"So I have some big news. My new album is finally out. I am beyond excited to tell you I am going back out on tour next year," she told Couric on 20/20.

Going with her on this tour will be Ed Sheeran, a British musician who collaborated with her on the song "Everything Has Changed," from Red.

"As of now, there are 58 shows slated for 45 cities in 29 states, with 9 shows taking place at stadiums," according to TasteofCountry.com. "The trek kicks off on March 13, which Swift reminded us is her lucky number. She will be on the road through Sept. of 2013, and some of the tickets for the trek will be on sale as of Nov. 16."

The tour kicks off in Omaha, Nebraska, and winds its way through the South, Northeast and West, before finally coming back to Nashville for its finale.

Swift also talked about her career and her life at the moment. Swift said she never "googles" herself, because she doesn't need to know what people are saying about her at the moment. But when Couric asked her where she would be in 10 years, she became speechless.

"I just don't want to do this after people get tired of me. I want to know where that line is," she finally answered. "And if I overstay my welcome, then I'll just go write songs for other people."
