TV journalist Lisa Ling announced earlier this week that she and her husband, physician Paul Song, are expecting their first child. The exciting news comes after heartbreak in 2010, when the Our America host publicly shared her thoughts after suffering a miscarriage.
She revealed that the experience made her feel like "a complete failure." The event inspired her to create a website called Secret Society of Women, which allows women to safely swap stories on any topic.
The site's mission is to "offer women a confidential community to freely share thoughts and advice, and by doing so, to learn from each other. What you'll find here is that no matter what the topic may be, you're not alone. There are others like you who may have had similar experiences and can offer perspectives about whatever is on your mind."
While the former View co-host has generously shared her sorrows with the public, she was thrilled to be able share her happy news with TV audiences. Ling gave the baby news exclusively to Anderson Cooper on his daytime talk show, Anderson Live. She brought along a sonogram and also announced she was having a girl.
The OWN star is starting her sixth month of pregnancy, and she admitted on Access Hollywood Live today that "I've just been trying to be very, very cautious about everything... with diet, with exercise."
It is understandable that the first-time mom is taking a safe course of action, but overall, she's having a great pregnancy.
She explained, "I've been so lucky — I have felt completely normal this entire time. Other than the fact that I feel like I'm getting this big gut, I didn't have any morning sickness or anything."
