When Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth announced their engagement, many said she was too young to get married. But the couple has lasted and the 19-year-old decided to share with Jay Leno how they were engaged. The singer said she had been holding "backyard sessions," free online concerts for her fans. And after one of those concerts is when it happened. According to Extra, the last song that particular day was "Lilac Wine."
"About 20 minutes after that song — it's one of Liam's favorite songs — he asked me to marry him," Cyrus told Leno. "I had no idea! He was sitting there and I'm like, 'He's looking at me funny!' And then I knew."
The couple has taken the next step in their relationship... Hemsworth recently got a tattoo matching one Cyrus already had.
Cyrus' tattoo says, "So that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who knew neither victory nor defeat."
The quote is from a speech President Theodore Roosevelt gave in 1910. The tattoo is located on her arm.
Hemsworth's new ink is a different quote from the same speech. Actually, his words immediately precede Cyrus' quote in Roosevelt's speech: "If he fails, at least fails while daring greatly."
There is a difference between his tattoo and the actual quote — it's a "he." The actual quote is "If he fails, at least he fails while daring greatly."
It makes you wonder if that was a mistake on the part of the tattoo artist or Hemsworth. Or did he mean to do that?
The 22-year-old actor posted the photo of both his arm and his fiancee's arm on Instagram this week.
Cyrus tweeted a few weeks ago some cryptic messages that made people wonder about their relationship: "Ever feel like you want just.... something more. not sure what exactly... passion perhaps?"
But with the new tattoo, it appears the couple is trying to prove their commitment to each other.
