Late on Thursday evening, Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt was forced to hop on Instagram to dispel some nasty business about a person who appears to be impersonating him on Facebook in order to hit on female fans. This is not only deeply disturbing — that someone is actively impersonating Pratt — but also pretty damn disheartening to see Pratt forced to explain at length the perils of interacting with someone who is fake, if only because it puts him in the tough spot of having to explain all of this to his fans when he wasn't expecting to do so.

Pratt began his Instagram warning thus: "PERVY DUDE ALERT!!! (Not a joke) It’s confirmed: somebody is trying to pretend to be me on Facebook (and maybe other social media platforms) apparently hitting on a lot of different female fans, trying to get their numbers and who knows what else. I’m not joking."
Chris Pratt Imposter Warning
He continued by telling fans just how problematic and dangerous this behavior is. "Please know, I find this behavior reprehensible," he wrote. "If I find out who it is I’ll have their account shut down and seriously would like to punch them right in the GD mouth. You hear that imposter!? Stop. My message to any fans who are contacted by someone claiming to be Chris Pratt: Look for the BLUE 'VERIFIED' CHECKMARK next to the name. If there is no checkmark by my name that person is an imposter. I’m sorry."

The moment then turned into one where Pratt was able to get real with his fans and provide them with a bit of explanation about why this fake profile opens up a gateway to a lot of online dangers. "Tell your siblings. Educate our young ones. It’s probably mostly kids who would fall for this. Makes me sick. It terrifies me to think someone could be hurt, their feelings or much worse, by this imposter/potential predator. I’ve had many, many people tell me about this. It’s not an isolated incident. If anyone is in contact with this person block them immediately."
Pratt's final warning to the person impersonating him was ominous as hell: "If it’s you doing it, I’m warning you. Stop right now or you will be very unhappy with the outcome. Go find Jesus."

At the time of reporting, there's no further information on the nature of the messages that this fake profile sent to female fans or how Pratt was alerted to the fake profile's existence. What we do know is that it's a lucky thing that Pratt seems to have caught wind of this himself and was able to step in to not only educate his fans but take charge of his own public image once again. Also, real talk, fake Chris Pratt: I wouldn't mess with him. He sounds like he means business.
