Fergie's got some news on deck for us all and after the last couple of months, which have admittedly been a bit of an emotional rollercoaster for her, it sounds like this news is very exciting.

It was announced on Monday that Fergie would be the host of a new reality TV singing competition called The Four: Battle For Stardom. The show, which is set to premiere on January 4, undoubtedly sounds fun although it also sounds very much like some other reality TV singing competitions of days gone by (cough, The Voice, cough). But just because the show admittedly hits some familiar notes, that doesn't mean Fergie's spirits are dampened.

In a statement given to Entertainment Tonight, she noted: "I am very excited and proud to be the host of The Four: Battle for Stardom. This is a unique and modern show format that I believe will set the standard for the next generation of singing competition series on TV."

It will indeed be interesting to see how The Four stands apart for shows like The Voice and American Idol, that's for sure. For now, though, all we know is that Fergie is in pole position as the show's host while the judge's panel will consist of music icons Sean Combs, DJ Khaled, Meghan Trainor and music exec Charlie Walk.

Fergie also made sure to note her high hopes for the show, telling Entertainment Tonight that "I am looking forward to being by the contestants’ sides during what could be the most important performances of their lives. Along with these amazing panelists whom I know and love, I hope my experiences as a solo artist and as a member of The Black Eyed Peas can help guide them in their quest to make it in the music industry."

There's no doubt that Fergie deserves this win both personally and professionally; right now, regardless of whether The Four sounds familiar, it may bode well to stay optimistic about what she can bring as the show's host.
