We didn't even know they were dating, but hopefully the third time is the charm for Melissa Gilbert and Timothy Busfield. The 48-year-old actress, best known for her childhood role in Little House on the Prairie, got engaged to the 55-year-old Busfield over the holidays.
Their rep told People a simple, "They are engaged and both are incredibly happy."
Their engagement comes as a surprise given many people in the industry had no idea they were a couple. This will be the third marriage for both of them. Gilbert was previously married to Bo Brinkman and most recently, Babylon 5 actor, Bruce Boxleitner. Their divorce was finalized in 2011.
The couple will be merging into one big blended family since Gilbert has two children and Busfield has three kids from their prior relationships.
A source told E! News, "They've known each other for quite some time, as their paths have crossed off-and-on over the past 20 years."
The couple celebrated their engagement with family and friends on Monday night at the famed Beverly Hills eatery, Mr. Chow.
Busfield, best known for his work on Thirtysomething and The West Wing, spends a lot of his time now behind the camera as a successful television director. Gilbert was on season 14 of Dancing with the Stars strutting her stuff with professional dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy.
