Bobby Flay should have addressed Food Network Star's racist comment

While (most of) Twitter rejoiced over Ana Quincoces' ejection on tonight's episode of Food Network Star after she spent almost a whole season as co-host Bobby Flay's inexplicable favorite, many of us are also wondering how this show gets made and exactly what Bobby and co-host Giada De Laurentiis know about what goes on behind the scenes.

Fans of the show have spent virtually this entire season pointing out Ana's less-than-humble approach to, well, everything, but on the most recent episode of Food Network Star, she didn't hesitate to level some microaggressions at the black folks competing against her. Specifically, she said that Tregaye Fraser's show would only work "for a certain audience."

More: Giada De Laurentiis' new man may want more than just love

I don't know how this show gets made, so I'm not sure if Bobby and Giada heard Ana's comments before or after they made a judging decision, but I do know that Food Network has a not-so-awesome history of dealing with race. There was that Paula Deen fiasco, and also the time that Food Network Star Season 10 winner Lenny McNab was busted for his racist, homophobic and misogynist internet history and attacks on actual people. In the end, McNab didn't get his own show.

In addition to Ana's comments, which she made to the cameras during a one-on-one interview and not in front of the judges, there's also the matter of Bobby continually telling contestant Damiano Carrara (whom people claim Giada favors) that he couldn't understand what he was saying because of his Italian accent. Damiano is moving on in the competition — if he wasn't, I would be in a rage, and it would be hard not to think that Bobby's comments had something to do with that — but watching Bobby's reaction to Damiano was uncomfortable and gross, especially in light of what happened with Ana.

More: Bobby Flay and Giada De Laurentiis finally disagreed on Food Network Star

Ana's off the show now, and so it's easy for us to say that it doesn't matter what she said and it doesn't matter if Bobby and Giada knew about it. But it does matter. Someone edited this episode, saw what happened and decided it was cool to let Ana's comments go unaddressed by everyone.

This isn't the first time Ana's behaved like a jerk to her fellow contestants, but — I might or might not be remembering this wrong — this is the first time we've seen her make racist comments. Ana wasn't being cute or risqué or sassy, and it's not cute when other people say things like that, ever. It is, however, the responsibility of the show, and the network, to decide how to deal with them and to hold the person who said them accountable for their statements.

It's not too late to call Ana out, by the way, even if she's no longer on the show. She won't cease to get attention, at least not yet, and it shouldn't be on people of color to tell her how messed up what she said was and why. Note to future Food Network Star contestants/all reality stars/aspiring reality stars: It's not cool to build a persona around being a jerk, either, by the way.

More: Thank goodness for Rev. Run because Food Network Star's been a snooze-fest

Are you glad Ana Quincoces was kicked off Food Network Star? Who do you want to see win it all?

Kim Kardashian shouldn’t have married Kanye if she cared about public opinion

Kim Kardashian works very hard to craft her image. The entire Kardashian family works very hard to not comment on any drama unless it’s through their TV show. Even on social media, they’re smart enough to make every post ambiguous, possibly about everything or meaningless. So, when Kim married Kanye West, maybe the most uncalculated celebrity ever, it didn’t quite make sense.

In tonight’s episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, we see a perfect example of why.

More: Kanye West's new Taylor Swift diss is completely unacceptable

The episode covered Kanye's drama with Taylor Swift over the controversial lyric in his song "Famous." The two were in a he-said-she-said battle over whether or not Taylor knew about the lyric before he released the song.

Kanye got emotional, as he does, and Kim tried to do damage control. She wanted to get in front of the drama and make sure that the media couldn’t make Kanye out to be a monster. She complained to Khloé Kardashian that she basically has to be his publicist every hour of the day and that life is so hard as "The Wife of Pablo."

I’m going to give Kim credit for that line, but the entire thing was a little manipulative. Kanye is an artist, which means he has to be authentic in order to be successful. Hip-hop artists in particular need to be truthful to themselves in order for fans to appreciate and support them. Kim trying to force Kanye to fall in line just isn’t going to work.

More: Kanye West's "Famous" video features naked Taylor Swift and Donald Trump

Kanye himself said that he didn’t care. He told Kim that he’ll just follow her lead, but he didn’t care.

I know that Kim loves her husband, and it would be extremely difficult to watch as your husband was torn down and misunderstood by the entire world. But trying to change him so that he’s not as problematic for her and her brand is a terrible strategy for herself and her marriage.

Ultimately, though, the strategic masterminds behind her brand found the perfect solution to the problem. Kanye got to handle the gossip the way he wanted to, and Kim got to act like a grown-up on her show and say that she’s just going to let it go and let Kanye do his thing.

More: Kanye West reacts to claims his line about Taylor Swift is "misogynistic"

Except now that the episode has aired, Kim got to defend her man on social media without saying a word. In fact, if you watch her Snapchat story right now, you can see her exposing Taylor as a liar. It’s worth the follow.

Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth are Instagram official — for real this time!

Is it 2010? Miley Cyrus just confirmed she and Liam Hemsworth are back together, and we couldn't be happier.

Cyrus has been dropping subtle hits on Instagram for weeks that she and Liam are back on. She posted a photo of his dog, and shared a picture wearing a shirt with his last name on the back. She even recently got a tattoo that appears to be a tribute to Hemsworth's favorite Australian snack.

More: Miley Cyrus' new tattoo is further proof she and Liam Hemsworth are back on

All hints aside, Cyrus just posted a photo of Hemsworth himself, the first that she's shared since the couple got back together. It's Instagram official, y'all!

Hemsworth is pictured lounging with his dog, wearing sunglasses and a T-shirt in support of Cyrus' non-profit organization, The Happy Hippie Foundation.

She captioned the photo, "So much love in one pic," along with information on where to pick up your own Happy Hippie Foundation tee.

More: Miley Cyrus spent July Fourth with Liam Hemsworth and a special new friend

The Happy Hippie Foundation is near and dear to Cyrus' heart, so Hemsworth basically just proved that he's the best and most supportive fiancé (we think?) ever.

After being spotted out and about together several times in the last few weeks, with Cyrus wearing an engagement ring, it seems like Cyrus and Hemsworth are back together for good. I guess true love really does prevail!

More: You know it's real when Miley Cyrus sports Liam Hemsworth's name on her body

Honestly, I was kind of hoping that Cyrus would end up with her teenage boyfriend Nick Jonas. When Miam split, I thought this could finally be Niley's chance! However, it appears Jonas will probably have to hear those "Wedding Bells" he wrote a song about after all.

Tiffany Rousso's attempt to shake up the Big Brother house is too late

$

Tiffany Rousso didn’t get voted out of the Big Brother house last week, but you wouldn’t know that by her reaction tonight. She spent the first half of the episode sobbing and asking her housemates to console her. She was desperate for friends to talk to and someone to vent to.

More: No doubt bringing in the Big Brother vets means the drama will start early

Da’Vonne Rogers finally sat her down and told her that she needs to get it together and start playing the game smarter. Rogers said the more emotional she gets, the more fights she’ll get into and the quicker she’ll go home. So Rousso decided it was time for her to start shaking things up.

As a viewer, it’s always fun when one of the competitors decides to stir up some drama. It means we’re going to see a lot more backstabbing and strategizing between players. But in this case, I think it’s too late for Rousso to start making moves.

More: Frank's Big Brother actions towards Da'Vonne should get him evicted

The only person willing to team up with her is Frank Eudy, who as we know is out the door already. The rest of the contestants don’t want anything to do with her. Even Rogers is using her in order to stay safe for another week.

Rousso had everything working for her when she entered the house. Like Paulie Calafiore, she had an older sibling on a previous Big Brother season. She should have been able to align herself with the veterans like Calafiore did. Instead, she’s on the outs because she didn’t make any friends. She doesn’t have the numbers on her side to make any real change, so all she’s going to do is cause herself drama for no reason.

More: Bridgette Dunning is way too naive to be in the Big Brother house

The one good thing that came from Rousso’s breakdown is that Eudy was exposed for his backstabbing ways. He learned that he’s not the big dog in the house, and that people aren’t in love with him and his ideas as he thought.

Watching him take his confidence down a few notches made the episode worth watching.

6 clues Ride with Norman Reedus will get a second season

WTF, you guys? How did we creep up on the Ride with Norman Reedus season finale so fast? And, more to the point, what wisenheimer thought fans' thirst for this road-tripping version of Reedus would be quelled after only six episodes?

More: Trust me, you don't have to be a biker to love Ride with Norman Reedus

Head's up, AMC — we're not done with Ride with Norman Reedus yet. We're going to need you to go ahead and green-light a second season, STAT. But, seeing as no word on the show's future has been passed down yet, we're left to surmise its status based on conjecture alone.

Of course, there's no shortage of reasons this fledgling series should not be renewed.

It's visually stunning and highly entertaining. Viewers get to see the world through the lens of Norman Reedus and, in that sense, travel to places they may never make it to on their own. He paints a colorful picture full of colloquial charm wherever he goes, undoubtedly shining light on countless small businesses and homegrown entrepreneurs along the way.

He gives a voice to the gearheads, sure. But he also amplifies the voice of empowered women across the country who are bending gender norms and taking names every day.

More: Norman Reedus is a feminist — just ask the badass women on his new AMC series

And, is if I need to remind you, Reedus is the host. Aside from his obvious appeal as the breakout star of Boondock Saints and AMC's The Walking Dead, Reedus' humble approach to everyone who crosses his path is captivating. He is truly invested in people. If ever there was a living picture of what a humanist looks like, it's him. That — along with his gravelly timbre in each episode's voice-over, reminding us all to enjoy the journey — sticks with you long after the credits roll.

Would it be weird to say this show makes me want to be a better person? To stop and smell the proverbial roses more often? Because after six episodes traveling the diverse road map of America with Reedus, that's pretty much exactly how I feel.

Clearly, Ride has an affecting quality and needs to continue. We can all agree on that point, right? So here are a few clues that offer hope the show will, in fact, go on.

1. The non-ceremonious send-off

Ride with Norman Season finale 6

Ride with Norman Season finale 6

Don't get me wrong! Having Peter Fonda as a co-rider is next level. It's Peter fucking Fonda. The man is a living legend... the Easy Rider in the flesh. And since I'm currently nursing a killer case of wanderlust for the Florida Keys, I can't say I was disappointed in their destination either. For that matter, I wasn't disappointed with anything about the finale. True to form, this week's Ride was quite delightful, if we're being honest. However, there was no real pomp and circumstance qualifying it as a finale. It wasn't longer in length. There were no allusions to it being the final episode of the season. I feel about this much the same way I felt about Glenn's faux-dumpster-death on The Walking Dead last season — they wouldn't end things without a bit more well-deserved ado.

2. Reedus' all-in attitude

As he has several times this season, Reedus live-tweeted this week's episode. That's an impressive level of commitment for a star like Reedus. He was so inundated with tweets from fans during the episode that, at times, his Twitter actually crashed. Throughout the season, Reedus has not been shy about his love for this series which, in my opinion, bodes well. He has a huge fan base who is essentially willing to follow him anywhere. If he is gunning hard for the show to get pushed through, AMC is likely to trust his intuition. When it comes to bankability, Reedus is a solid bet.

3. Fan fervor

On the subject of Reedus' fans, they're digging their heels in, too. A cursory scan of Twitter makes it pretty clear I'm not alone in <del>wanting</del>, needing at least one more season of this stellar new addition to the AMC roster.

Plus, the show's hallmark #RideWithNorman hashtag trended all night on Twitter. That's gotta count for something.

4. The killer guest stars

It goes without saying how rad it is that the guest cameos and co-riders in Ride's inaugural season culminated with the iconic Fonda for the finale. But Reedus has given viewers a virtual meet and greet with some seriously inspiring characters all season long. Even if you weren't familiar with them by name coming into the episode, you felt like you knew them by the episode's end — and you wished like hell you had met them in real life. Some you most certainly know (think actor Balthazar Getty), but got to see an entirely new side of. The fact that so many badass people were willing to, quite literally, take this ride with Reedus hints that there is much more to come on the guest-star front.

More: 7 Things to know about Norman Reedus' biker buddy, Jason Paul Michaels

5. The potential for crossover cameos

Ride with Norman Season finale 7

Ride with Norman Season finale 7

In full disclosure, I experienced a moment of pure fangirling when I saw Reedus' earlier Instagram post touting the finale. Why? Simple — the Insta pic was of none other than Reedus and his TWD costar, Steven Yeun (aka Glenn). At first, I thought Reedus was trying to tell us Yeun was going to make a cameo on Ride during the finale, thus the fangirling. Obviously that wasn't the case, but it doesn't mean that kind of crossover cameo action isn't going to happen. There have been a myriad nods to TWD throughout this season of Ride, and Reedus' costars routinely plug the show and their buddy on social media. It would be a natural progression for some of them to pop up in a second season.

6. Reedus' references to a second season

In interviews, Reedus often alludes to a second season of the series. In one such recent interview, he even offered up a few fantastic ideas for making the series more immersive. "I'd love to involve fans on a ride or do some stuff with Make-a-Wish," he told Yahoo. "I do a lot of stuff with Make-a-Wish already. I’d really like to, if it comes full circle and full circle again and full circle again… it's fun and it's extra special that way, so I hope to." Just one more reason to make it happen. Ya hear, AMC?

Taylor Swift responds to Kim Kardashian turning the Internet against her

The world basically ended on Sunday night. Did you miss it? Let me catch you up. Kim Kardashian released the video she mentioned in her GQ Magazine interview of Taylor Swift talking to Kanye West on the phone about the controversial lyrics of his song "Famous" and the Internet actually exploded.

During her cover story interview with GQ, Kardashian revealed, "She totally approved that... She totally knew that that was coming out. She wanted to all of a sudden act like she didn't."

More: Did Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris break up because of the Grammy Awards?

Sunday's night episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians covered Kim discussing this video and calling Swift a liar. So, she decided to post the video on her Snapchat story as proof.

The video proves Swift did talk to West on the phone and that she approved the line, "I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex." However, it also proves that the statement Swift's rep released along with the GQ interview was accurate. West never played the song for Swift or told her about the line "that bitch."

According to the statement, Swift's rep told GQ Magazine, "Kanye West and Taylor only spoke once on the phone while she was on vacation with her family in January of 2016 and they have never spoken since. Taylor has never denied that conversation took place. It was on that phone call that Kanye West also asked her to release the song on her Twitter account, which she declined to do. Kanye West never told Taylor he was going to use the term, 'that bitch' in referencing her. A song cannot be approved if it was never heard. Kanye West never played the song for Taylor Swift."

More: We now have proof Tom Hiddleston is not too hot to be totally awkward

However, the Internet didn't care. Twitter users trended #KimExposedTaylorParty and the tweets were malicious.

Some other celebrities even got in on the drama. Demi Lovato favorited a tweet that said "I love Kim Kardashian." Katy Perry also couldn't resist chiming in and promoting her new single in the process, tweeting, "#RISE above it all."

Swift took to Instagram to share her side of the story, reiterating the fact that West never played her the song or ran the line "that bitch" by her and that she never lied. She captioned the photo, "That moment when Kanye West secretly records your phone call, then Kim posts it on the Internet."

Swift has had a tough time catching a break lately. It seems like every time we turn around, there's a new story about her that's stirring up even more drama than the last.

First, she and Calvin Harris broke up in early June. Then, Swift started dating Tom Hiddleston and Harris acted scorned, deleting all social media evidence that their relationship ever existed. Next, Kardashian revealed that video footage of Swift and West discussing his "Famous" lyrics on the phone exists.

More: Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston have reportedly already talked about kids

Not long after, rumors started circling that Swift wrote Harris' new song, "This Is What You Came For." Swift's rep confirmed she wrote the song and Harris tweeted all sorts of shade, even bringing her feud with Perry into it. Perry responded, of course, creating even more drama and widespread anti-Swift sentiments.

Now, Kardashian decides to leak the video of Swift's phone call with West and literally all hell breaks loose. What could possibly be next? It's all so crazy I can't help but feel like it's all part of some crazy PR plan to drop a surprise album out of nowhere. It's actually borderline insane. That's all I have to say about it.

Khloé Kardashian and Chloë Grace Moretz are going to war — Twitter war

In March this year, Chloë Grace Moretz made her feelings toward nude photos, more specifically Kim Kardashian's nude photos, perfectly clear — she thinks women have more to offer than their bodies — which is probably why her recent tweets have enraged the Kardashian clan.

You may have heard about the Kanye West/Kim Kardashian versus Taylor Swift drama, with Kim recently revealing a recording of Swift on her Snapchat (which "proves" that she and West did have a conversation before his infamous lyrics for "Famous" made everyone's jaws drop) and while everyone is speaking about the feud, Moretz wants the industry to speak about something more important.

Taking to Twitter on Sunday, Moretz said it's time the industry got its head out of a "hole" and spoke about something real. She followed up with a second tweet, writing, "Stop wasting your voice on something so petulant and unimportant."

Woah! Harsh, right? I mean we get that Khloé wanted to defend her sister, and we absolutely love that the Kardashians are such a close-knit family who will do anything for one another, but these comments are verging on body shaming, and that's never OK.

It also turns out that the second image was not of Moretz, as she took to Twitter to give Khloé a "fact check" explaining that the second image was of a random girl who was wrongly photographed — and she had the evidence to prove it.

After 3 years of fighting, Bethenny Frankel is finally a free woman

Bethenny Frankel can officially say she has an ex-husband. She and Jason Hoppy have finally reached a divorce settlement three years after initially filing for divorce. Frankel and Hoppy spent the last three years in nasty negotiations where they aired every dirty detail, but they’ve decided to keep their settlement private.

What both parties will say is that they couldn't be more excited to move on without the other.

More: Bethenny Frankel is not giving up without a fight in latest divorce proceedings

Bernard Clair, Hoppy’s attorney, told People, "Jason is thrilled that this chapter of his life is over; he is extremely pleased with the settlement that was reached. Jason looks forward to the future and enjoying that time privately with family, friends and most important to him, his daughter."

In a move that proves Frankel is totally done with all the drama associated with this divorce, her attorney said she had no comment. Speaking to People as well, Allan Mayefsky said, "Out of respect for her privacy and the well-being of her daughter, Bethenny is declining to comment. We can confirm that the divorce has been resolved. Our client is ecstatic that this long chapter is over, and she is looking forward to moving on with her life."

It’s clear that both parties are done fighting. It’s been an exhausting three years that haven’t resulted in much happiness for either of them. Now they have time to focus on their daughter, their new relationships and just not fighting.

Well, at least for Hoppy. Frankel still has her castmates from The Real Housewives of New York to deal with. But at least she’ll have more energy and focus to handle their outbursts. It’s amazing what the end of a bitter legal battle will do for your tolerance for nonsense.

Enough already with Piers Morgan's racist BS

One thing the #BlackLivesMatter movement doesn’t need is Piers Morgan's commentary. Morgan loves the drama that comes from stirring the pot or lending his point of view to a conversation that doesn’t need it. On Monday, he set his sights on Beyoncé and her involvement in #BlackLivesMatter.

Piers Morgan tweet

Piers Morgan tweet

In his column, he basically wrote that Beyoncé is a hypocrite for not being enraged by the murder of Montrell Jackson, a black cop who was murdered on Sunday, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He claimed that the problem with the movement is that it’s spreading hate. Morgan also asserts that because Jackson was a cop, he was the enemy of the movement and therefore wouldn’t get any acknowledgment by Beyoncé at her concerts or by anyone else online.

I’m going to give you a minute to process that. It’s infuriating, I know.

More: 23 celebs show the world why #BlackLivesMatter isn't a debate

The problems with Morgan’s comments are endless, but one is that Beyoncé is on a worldwide tour right now. On Monday night, she has a show in Italy. It’s quite possible that being in charge of one of the biggest tours this summer while maintaining a successful marriage and raising a daughter leaves your day a little busy. She doesn’t have time to sit on Twitter and troll everyone the way that Morgan hopes she could.

More than that, though, there aren’t many facts surrounding Jackson’s death. Some reports say it had nothing to do with race and the gunman was on a killing spree before the cops even showed up. This may not have had anything to do with police officers. Though it may have, but we don’t know yet. All we know is that the gunman never took an oath to protect the police, and he also never asked to be associated with #BlackLivesMatter.

More: #BlackLivesMatter co-founders on why the movement is more vital now than ever

It doesn't mean what he did was right. It’s not. It’s tragic and terrible and the killings need to stop in America.

But Morgan diluting the #BlackLivesMatter movement by associating Jackson's murder with it makes people angrier, slower to listen and much less likely to take action. He’s making the problem worse and he knows it.

Atomic cherries and cherry moonshine for your midsummer tipsy

A few weeks ago, I wrote an article about making your own moonshine at home. Needless to say, I got more than a few emails about that one, mostly from family and friends wondering if perhaps we were doing homemade Christmas gifts this year (nudge, nudge, wink, wink).

But I also got an email from the folks at Clawhammer, who manufacture moonshine stills, with a couple of seasonal moonshine recipes they thought I'd like to try out. And boy, were they right.

They introduced me to atomic cherries, which are exactly what they sound like: booze-soaked wonder-berries for your favorite fruity cocktails or a quick nip to curb your sweet tooth and have a nightcap at the same time.

I adapted Clawhammer's cherry-infused moonshine for my own version. It will yield a strong liquor with a hint of sweet cherry flavor — but with enough alcohol to make Shirley Temple blush.

Even if you live in an area where distilling your own liquor is illegal, you can often still find legally distilled moonshine at your local liquor store. And hey, if worse comes to worst, vodka works just fine too.

Atomic cherries recipe

Adapted from Clawhammer

If you'd like flavored atomic cherries, experiment with adding spices and aromatics. For a kick, apple pie-spiced liquor is a good addition. You could also go with vanilla and chocolate flavors. Use your imagination.

Prep time: 20 minutes | Inactive time: 24-plus hours | Total time: 24 hours 20 minutes-plus

Ingredients:

  • Fresh cherries*
  • Moonshine (or vodka)*

Directions:

  1. Stem the cherries. (The stems can make the cherries bitter.)
  2. Score or pit the cherries. To score them, use a paring knife to create a slit around the hemisphere of the cherry (the stone should stop the knife from going all the way through). Use this method if you plan to have the cherries around for a while. You'll have to be careful of the stones when you use them, but the flesh won't break down as fast. If you plan to use them within a couple of weeks, you can pit them and not have to worry about the stones.
  3. Stuff the cherries into a sterilized Mason or other glass jar with an airtight lid. Try to pack them well without squashing them. Leave about an inch of headspace at the top.
  4. Cover the cherries with moonshine, leaving about 1/2 inch of headspace. If you're using additional flavors, make sure you account for those when filling the jar so you don't overfill it.
  5. Place the cherries in the refrigerator, and leave them for at least 24 hours. They're at their peak at a week in the fridge, but you can leave them longer since they're covered with alcohol (no water bath needed). Just make sure you only score the cherries if you plan to go longer than a couple of weeks.
  6. Serve them the same way you would maraschino cherries (adults only!). You can also pull out a few, freeze them on a greased sheet pan and pop them into a plastic freezer bag once they're frozen. And don't just throw out the liquor. It's still completely usable.
*Quantities of ingredients and results vary depending on how much you want to make and the size of your jar.

Cherry-infused moonshine recipe

cherry moonshine
Image: Heather Barnett/SheKnows

Adapted from Clawhammer's recipe for blackberry moonshine.

If you decide you want more cherry flavor, add more cherry juice to the simple syrup. If you want the booze sweeter, add more simple syrup to the jar. If you want it stronger, back off the simple syrup, and use more moonshine. You can also add spices and flavorings like star anise vanilla and more. Adjust it to your preferences.

Prep time: 35 minutes | Inactive time: 24-plus hours | Total time: 24 hours 35 minutes-plus

Ingredients:

  • Fresh cherries, pitted and stemmed*
  • Cherry simple syrup (recipe below)*
  • Citrus zest (any fruit, I used lemon and lime)
  • Moonshine (or vodka)*

Directions:

  1. Stuff the cherries into a sterilized Mason or other glass jar with an airtight lid. Try to pack them well without squashing them. Leave about an inch of headspace at the top.
  2. Shove in about two 1-inch pieces of citrus per cup of cherries. Make sure there isn't too much pith on it, or that could make it too bitter.
  3. Cover the cherries with 3 parts moonshine and 4 parts simple syrup, leaving about 1/2 inch of headspace at the top. Put the lid on the jar, and gently shake to combine.
  4. Place the cherries in the refrigerator, and leave them for at least 24 hours. They're at their peak at a week in the fridge, but you can leave them longer since they're covered with alcohol (no water bath needed).
  5. When you're ready to drink your cherry moonshine, strain it into a bowl. You can discard the citrus zest, but you may as well keep the cherries. They're perfectly edible and make a great garnish.
*Quantities of ingredients and results vary depending on how much you want to make and the size of your jar.

Cherry simple syrup recipe

Make as much of this as you think you need to make your cherry moonshine. The leftover (if any) can be refrigerated for up to two weeks and used in cocktails, sodas and more.

Yields about 1 cup

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup fresh-squeezed cherry juice

Directions:

  1. Put everything into a saucepan, and bring it up to a simmer. Simmer for about 10 minutes, remove from the heat, and allow it to cool completely before using.

TWD's new teaser pic of Morgan could prove all hell's about to break loose

As much as I'd love to tell you there was a ripple in the space-time continuum and Oct. 11 has arrived early — bringing with it the highly anticipated Season 7 premiere of The Walking Dead — alas, 'tis not so. However, I do come bearing more TWD news to tide you over.

More: The Walking Dead's new series regulars could be a bad sign for our heroes

To be more specific, I'm here to let you know an as-of-yet unseen photo from Season 7 was just released. And we all know what this means, right? That's right, my friends... clues.

In full disclosure, though, there's really only so much you can glean from this newly released photo (follow the article link in the tweet below to view the full image) since, well, there's only one person in it: Morgan. In the picture, Morgan looks considerably more cleaned up than the last time we saw him and he is once again wielding his trademark pole.

The good news is at least we know Morgan is alive and relatively well. He doesn't look to be in any imminent danger — don't mind his stern expression; Morgan throws perma-shade regardless — but he does appear to be staring directly at someone.

TWD Morgan Season 7 2

TWD Morgan Season 7 2

As you well remember, at the close of Season 6 Morgan and Carol had been helped by some apparently decent people who were now leading the dynamic duo to their camp. Could Morgan be staring at one of his new friends?

More: When The Walking Dead cast isn't filming, they're saving people from car crashes

For that matter, could those new "friends" be members of The Kingdom, a colony whose "Knights" are depicted in the comic wearing armor similar to the armor worn by these newcomers? If so, that certainly sets up Season 7 to open up nicely into a much larger world than our heroes have ever known.

According to The Walking Dead Wiki page for The Kingdom, it consists of "a community of survivors found in Washington, D.C., who are based at a high school surrounding by a wall of buses and sheets of metal."

I'm no metallurgist or anything, but the building Morgan is standing in front of in the Season 7 photo that just dropped certainly seems to match that description. Here's why that's significant.

In the comic series, The Kingdom is part of the same trading system Rick and Maggie put into place. Rick and Paul Monroe at some point approach The Kingdom's leader — an eccentric former zookeeper with a pet tiger, yes a tiger, named Shiva — to propose they join forces to defeat Negan's Saviors.

To make a long story short, Ezekial becomes a trusted ally to Rick's crew and The Kingdom becomes a very important locale in the grand scheme of their existence in this post-apocalyptic world.

More: TWD fans figured out who died in the S7 finale... and there are two victims

Having said all of that, we'd probably be stretching a little to look that far into a simple picture of Morgan standing with his staff in front of a building. However, it's not unreasonable to deduce he could be in The Kingdom based on the metal-sided building.

What do you think? Is this picture a clue or is TWD just toying with fans?

Macaulay Culkin's not starring in movies, but his life's still pretty fascinating

Macaulay Culkin has been out of the spotlight basically since the mid-1990s. Everyone knows who he is and he’ll pop up every once in a while, but for the most part, he’s lived in obscurity. Culkin decided that after 10 years without any major interview, he would break his silence and let people in on what he’s been up to since we last saw him.

More: Macaulay Culkin is not dead and he hilariously proves it (PHOTOS)

The Guardian sat down with Culkin to get an insight into what his life is like, and it turns out it’s actually pretty interesting. One of his favorite things to do is to pick up and go. He’s not afraid to experience new ways of life. He said, “Home is where my boots are. I’m a big fan of jumping on people’s tourbuses, making myself useful, doing load-ins and outs. I do everything except the merch table. I tried that, but… we didn’t sell anything.”

And although he’s always on the run, Culkin said he’s been feeling better than ever, “I try to figure out what makes me happy — and not in a superficial way. I keep my soul fit. I know enough to know I don’t know.”

More: Frail-looking Macaulay Culkin denies heroin abuse

What he does know is that he’s grateful for his past for allowing him to figure it out. Culkin told The Guardian that he would never say he regretted his past because that is too strong a word. He said, “It’s allowed me to become the person I am, and I like me, so I wouldn’t change a thing. Not having to do anything for my dinner, financially, lets me treat every gig like it’s the last.”

For now, it seems, Culkin is happy that his gig isn’t acting. He’s enjoying his role in his joke-turned-real side project, The Pizza Underground, and avoiding the paparazzi so that his soul can stay fit.

On the spectrum of ways child celebrities can turn out, it’s pretty clear that Culkin made the best out of his choices.

Taylor Swift's BFF Abigail Anderson went too far in the battle against Kanye West

Taylor Swift’s best friend Abigail Anderson is not about to let Kim Kardashian and Kanye West take her down. In the now-famous fight over the "Famous" lyrics, Swift is starting to face a wave of backlash from fans and celebrities alike. Anderson decided it was time that she stood up for her friend.

More: Taylor Swift responds to Kim Kardashian turning the internet against her

She went on a Twitter rant where she made a very public prayer for North West. In her now-deleted tweets, Anderson wrote, “Lord, hear my prayers. I pray God helps your daughter understand, that despite how many times she’ll hear daddy reference all women as ‘bitches,’ she isn’t one."

She continued, "I pray she understands her father actually IS faithful to her mother, despite all the adulterous comments she will hear her father making. I pray that she will understand ‘adultery and bitches’ are just daddy's form of art and not to worry because not every man thinks like him. Lastly, I pray for forgiveness. May God forgive you & your wife for doing to others the very things you pray are NEVER done to your daughter.”

Obviously, no one was having it.

More: Kanye West's Twitter drama is reportedly affecting his marriage with Kim Kardashian

Anderson quickly received hate (even death threats) from others on Twitter. She decided to delete her tweets, saying, “For the record, I usually delete my tweets once the death threats start rolling in... nothing more or less than that.”

Anderson in no way deserves death threats. No one deserves death threats on a social media channel. But she should take some of the commenters concerns to heart. What she was trying to do is point out how problematic West’s actions were toward women, but what she actually did was bring an innocent child into a disagreement between two adults. She definitely crossed the line.

No matter who you side with on this story, it’s completely inappropriate to use his daughter as a pawn in a thinly veiled insult-prayer. Anderson should be held accountable for what she said and apologize to both Kardashian and West. Deleting a tweet isn’t enough in this situation.

More: Fans want Selena Gomez to take a seat in the Taylor Swift-Kim Kardashian feud

I’d like to believe that Swift understands this, too, and will encourage her best friend to issue an apology. She’s probably got a lot of other things to worry about for right now, though.

Rizzoli & Isles doesn't have time for boring filler story lines right now

So we are a mere six episodes away from the series finale of Rizzoli & Isles and I am basically incapable of watching it without obsessing about how it's all going to end. On Monday's new episode, Jane begrudgingly went to teach a class at the FBI Academy, while Maura stayed in Boston to deal with a case that was definitely not about spontaneous combustion and resulted in her using her fencing moves to take down a suspect. Either of these story lines could have built some tension in regard to the ending but seemed not to, which totally impacted my viewing experience. At this point in the season, I think everything we see on the show, including the humor, should be building toward, or at least pointing us to, the end.

More: QUIZ: Are you Rizzoli or Isles?

Maura's case in Boston, which involved body fat, meth and liposuction, was not holding my attention whatsoever, and I'm not sure if it's because it wasn't interesting or if I was just too caught up in Jane's antics at the Academy. From the beginning of the show, I kept thinking that any of the following were possible: Jane gets ensnared by a love of teaching, or a dude, and decides to stay in Virginia, or a case arises and she ends up staying to deal with it, or a giant conspiracy unravels. Or all of these things. It turns out that none of these things happened, with the exception of Jane going to get a drink with an FBI dude, but we're left hanging as to if anything transpires. In short, what could have had long-term implications seemed to wrap up with the end of the episode. The same turned out to be true with Maura's story line; there was a second when I thought she might get seriously hurt (again), thus impacting the rest of the season, but nope.

More: Rizzoli & Isles trivia: Think you know the show?

The show continues to do what it does best, which is remind us that the relationship we're supposed to be paying attention to and investing in is the one between Jane and Maura, and every moment they're together on camera is gold, thereby creating nostalgia for a thing that's not even gone yet. At this point in the season, though, I don't want filler, which is frankly what this episode felt like. I'm not totally abandoning the possibility that the writers are, in fact, leaving clues or hints for us about the ending and we're just not paying attention to them. Alternatively, I could just relax and enjoy the last season without obsessing about its end, but let's be honest, this is who I am as a person.

More: Was Jane jealous of Maura's new BFF on Rizzoli & Isles or did we imagine that?

How will Rizzoli & Isles end? Are you enjoying the season or are you also obsessing about how it's going to go down? Tell us in the comments!

RHOC's Kelly Dodd doesn't know the first thing about millennials

$

It's no secret that Meghan Edmonds is the youngest Housewife on RHOC. Last year, she made her age a conversational centerpiece, or at least, she did until she latched onto her Brooks Ayers obsession.
Kelly Dodd wasn't around for the endless age discussions last season, so now, of course, she's the one to bring it up. This season has been repetitive enough as it is, so as you can imagine, I wasn't too enthused about having the age issue rehashed during tonight's episode.
Meghan Edmonds
Image: Bravo

Not only did Dodd bring up a worn-out topic, she did it in the most preachy, annoying way possible, concluding with "And that's the problem with millennials." Evidently, she knows everything there is to know about the awful millennial generation, as she was kind to rehash all of the tired stereotypes that we've heard a million times before.

More: Vicki Gunvalson should learn to live alone

First of all, not all millennials are exactly the same. Differences are inherent in all generations, but due to rapid advances in technology, I think this is especially true of the millennial generation.

At 31 years old, Meghan Edmonds definitely qualifies as a millennial, but as this observant Twitter user pointed out, there are a lot of differences between a 31-year-old millennial and somebody in their early 20s.

Meghan Edmonds millennial

Meghan Edmonds millennial

Other Twitter users find it super amusing that Dodd thinks of Edmonds as a millennial. But while the world likes to paint all millennials as Snapchat-obsessed 20-somethings, the generation actually extends a bit further than most people suspect. Most official definitions of millennial include those born during the early 1980s, and Edmonds was born in 1984.

More: The RHOC ladies gave us some pretty candid spoilers for Season 11

Even if Edmonds was the stereotypical version of a millennial (in other words, not somebody in the midst of IVF), Dodd's comments would still be unacceptable. Not only was her tirade rude, it was also ill-informed. One of her biggest complaints about millennials involved Edmonds' suggestion to keep quiet and let the latest Housewife drama blow over. In her response, Dodd essentially claimed that knowing when to keep your mouth shut is akin to acting like a teenager.

Meghan Edmonds
Image: Bravo

I began the current season impressed by Dodd's willingness to reach out to the current RHOC outcast, but I'm quickly changing my tune. I hope that this is just an isolated incident and not foreshadowing of Dodd's future behavior on the show. And I hope that the Orange County Housewives will abandon all mentions of age gaps (and of Brooks Ayers) for good. A girl can dream, right?

What did you think of Kelly Dodd's commentary on the millennial generation? Do you agree with her? Comment and share your opinion below.

Yes, Cleveland police union's head said Samantha Bee would be a good hooker

Samantha Bee received an interesting offer from Cleveland Police Patrolmen's Association president Steve Loomis on Full Frontal with Samatha Bee. During her interview with the Cleveland detective, Loomis told her that, apropos of nothing, she would make a good hooker. That's right: A Cleveland cop told Samantha Bee that she would make an excellent hooker — on national television.

More: Thank you, Samantha Bee, for helping us Americans relate to the Brexit mess

Loomis was speaking to Bee about the Republican National Convention currently taking place in Cleveland, telling her about the lack of resources available to the officers in the city. Loomis has voiced his concern about the safety of the convention, going so far as to request that Governor John Kasich enforce a temporary ban on open carry weapons in the city during the event. With the RNC crowds and protestors threatening to take over the city, Loomis admitted to Bee that the Cleveland police had not received enough training and/or resources to adequately keep the peace.

More: Donald Trump's VP Mike Pence scares the bejesus out of women and he should

Moreover, he said, policemen like himself faced professional protestors who would spray them with squirt guns filled with urine or bleach. How, you ask, did Loomis know these were the preferred tactics of protestors? Well, as he told Bee, he'd been undercover at some of these groups. After Loomis' intriguing undercover reveal, Bee jokingly asked if she could go undercover with him sometime, and that's when he dropped the hooker bomb, telling her she'd make a great hooker — even though that was absolutely not what they were talking about. "Cars would be lined up around the corner," Loomis added.

Detective Loomis did not seem to register that his comments were offensive and grossly inappropriate. It's also a sadly revealing statement about how Loomis must view his female colleagues. Does Loomis think that being a hooker is the only identity women on the force can have when working undercover? Is that how he looks at women in general — as potential prostitutes? Keep in mind, this is the same Detective Loomis who called Tamir Rice "menacing" after he was shot and killed by a Cleveland police officer in 2014. Loomis also has a relationship with Fox News — in fact, as his interview with Full Frontal was airing on TBS, he was filming a separate interview for Fox News at the RNC in Cleveland with Megyn Kelly. Something tells me he thinks she'd make a good prostitute, too.

Don't praise Nike for using plus-size models, because it shouldn't be a big deal

Nike built its brand around the "just do it" brand of ultra-athleticism, complete with ads featuring muscular (and very lean) models. The brand isn't known for being inclusive to all sizes, but it looks like that might be about to change.

Last week, Nike posted a photo featuring curvy model Paloma Elsesser in a sports bra and leggings.

Then, over the weekend, the NikeWomen Instagram page added another photo of a curvy model — body positive "wellness educator" Claire Fountain.

NikeWomen 2

NikeWomen 2

The captions on the photos didn't reference the models being curvier than their typical brand rep, only giving sizing tips for sports bras. This is nice, especially since some companies are so good at patting themselves on the back for throwing a bone to plus-size models. That said, it's happening more and more — and featuring a larger-than-average model is less novel than it was even a year ago when Tess Holliday became the first plus-size model to be represented by a major modeling firm. It's the new normal, so why should we continue to refer to them as plus-size models?

We shouldn't.

More: Fitness guru showed off her bod in a tight dress and bullies went to work

The average American woman is a size 12-14, which means that most of the so-called plus-size models are just representing the average woman — nothing unusual about it. We don't call models who are smaller than average "small-size models," so there's no reason to make a qualifier for women at or above average.

And I'm not the only person who feels this way. Australian models Ajay Rochester and Stefania Ferrario helped launch the #droptheplus campaign on social media late last year.

"I am a model FULL STOP," Ferrario wrote on Instagram. "Unfortunately in the modeling industry if you’re above a US size 4 you are considered a plus size, and so I’m often labelled a ‘plus size’ model. I do NOT find this empowering... it is ‘harmful’ to call a model ‘plus’ and damaging the minds of young girls.

"Let’s have models of ALL shapes, sizes and ethnicities, and drop the misleading labels," she added. "I’m NOT proud to be called ‘plus’, but I AM proud to be called a ‘model’, that is my profession!"

More: Stop telling me I’m oppressed because I wear modest clothing

Nike is doing the right thing by not calling out their models as anything different, even if it is obvious based on the brand's history. Now, if the company would only add extended sizes so they're really walking their (implied) talk.

Pippa Middleton says yes to her own Prince Charming

Pippa Middleton is officially off the market. Middleton announced today that her longtime love James Matthews popped the question last week while the couple was on vacation. Although there have been engagement rumors before, The Daily Mail reports, this time it’s real.

More: It's so obvious — Pippa Middleton was born to be a princess

According to reports, Middleton and Matthews were in the Lake District on a vacation together when Matthews got down on one knee to ask Middleton to marry him. She was “completely and totally surprised” by the event but happily said yes.

The Daily Mail also said that Matthews asked Middleton’s father's permission before the event, which is probably the sweetest moment of the whole story. Matthews is a very successful 40-year-old man and Middleton is 32. People would understand if Matthews didn’t follow the tradition of asking her father for permission. The fact that he did shows that he is serious about her and showing her family that he cares for and respects them.

The couple first started dating back in 2012, but broke up for about two years before reuniting in 2015 officially. Since then, though, they have been inseparable. It helps that the two have similar interests. One insider told E! News, "Pippa loves socializing and, with James on her arm, there will be plenty more of it."

They also described James as "super charismatic and charming, good looking and always held a torch for Pippa. They have always had insane chemistry, but Pippa was always in a relationship." It sounds like the two are going have a long, happy and completely fun marriage ahead of them.
