Demi Lovato is staying in a sober-living house

Demi Lovato is still working on her recovery. The latest? She's been staying in sober-care housing to keep a handle on her "emotional and physical issues."

Demi Lovato sober house

Reason no. 576 why we love Demi Lovato: She's working hard on her recovery — and she's not afraid to admit that she still needs help.

Case in point: The X Factor host is staying in a sober-living facility to keep herself on the straight-and-narrow, according to TMZ. Sources tell the website that Lovato, 20, made the decision after signing on for The X Factor.

Demi Lovato: Controlling guys to the left >>

And it's a smart choice, too: All of the pressure and criticism that comes with a live television show can crush even the most confident of people.

It's been a long road for the "Skyscraper" singer: She went to rehab in 2010 to deal with "emotional and physical issues," specifically bulimia and self-harm through cutting.

"There were times I felt so anxious, almost like I was crawling out of my skin,"she told Self magazine in 2012, "that if I didn't do something physical to match the way I felt inside, I would explode."

"I cut myself to take my mind off that," said Lovato. "I just didn’t care what happened. I had no fear."

Rehab was a success, but she's honest about her continued struggles.

Demi Lovato: Drug obsession could've killed me >>

''I cannot tell you that I have not thrown up since treatment. I cannot tell you that I have not cut myself since treatment. I'm not perfect," she said during an MTV special.

"An addiction is an obsession, something that takes over your mind and your every thought. You think that you can't live without it. For me, it was not eating and purging and self-harming,"

We applaud Demi for taking control of her personal well-being. A few other celebs — cough, Lindsay Lohan, cough— could learn a thing or two from her.

Ben Affleck gets the last laugh

Ben Affleck got the last laugh at the Critics' Choice Awards on Thursday when he thanked The Academy for his win.

BenAffleckSnubbed

Even though Ben Affleck was snubbed during Thursday's Oscars nominations by The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, it looks like he got the last laugh. That same night, Affleck won a Critics' Choice Award for Best Director for his film, Argo.

When he went up to accept his award, he took a humorous approach to the day's events by saying, "I would like to thank the Academy. I'm kidding. I'm kidding! This is the one that counts."

Of course, any artist would love to be nominated for an Academy Award, but Affleck already has one on his shelf for Best Original Screenplay for Good Will Hunting that he won in 1998 with pal Matt Damon.

The Argo director does realize how many strides he has taken in his career, though. In his speech, he noted, "There was a time where the Ben Affleck Critics' Award was a Saturday Night Live sketch, so this is a very, very cool and exciting thing, particularly to me, because there are so many unbelievable directors in this category who I can only look up to, and so many who didn't get nominated, and I'm really humbled by that. "

The 40-year-old clearly remembers his frat-boy image, followed by his "Bennifer" days, when he was dating Jennifer Lopez. During that period, his career tanked and his public image took a huge hit.

Affleck has bounced back big time as a director helming movies to critical acclaim, like Gone Baby Gone, Argo and The Town. Despite the Oscar snub, Hollywood has recognized his talents with a Golden Globe, SAG and Directors Guild nomination this season.

In fact, many actors are also chiming in about the Affleck omission. In a phone interview with The Today Show on Thursday, Bradley Cooper said, "I do have to say real quick, Ben Affleck got robbed."

Oscar host Seth MacFarlane was also a bit surprised about Affleck being left off of the list. In a satellite interview on Live with Kelly and Michael he said, "He's like the Matt Damon of directing."

If you want a real shocker, how about Jennifer Garner's ex-husband, Scott Foley, weighing in on the issue? He tweeted, "Travesty and injustice? A bit dramatic. But Affleck getting overlooked for a best director nod is just plain silly. That's right, silly."

Now, that's what we call highly-evolved ex-spouses.

Regardless, Affleck could still win an Oscar on Feb. 24. He, along with co-producers George Clooney and Grant Heslov, are nominated in the Best Picture category.

Sad news: Britney Spears and Jason Trawick have ended their engagement, according to reports.

Britney Spears and Jason Trawick end engagement

It's been a busy week for Britney Spears. First, she announced that she's leaving The X Factor after one season to focus on her own music. Oh, and she's split from fiancé Jason Trawick, too.

According to TMZ, the pair — engaged since 2011 — just "grew apart" and ended things on friendly terms.

Her rep, Jeff Raymond, confirmed the news to People.

"Britney Spears and Jason Trawick have mutually agreed to end their one-year engagement," he said. "As two mature adults, they came to the difficult decision to go their separate ways while continuing to remain friends."

Britney Spears in talks to write book >>

Spears and Trawick also the typical joint statement of "we'll always love each other and blah, blah, blah."

"Jason and I have decided to call off our engagement," Spears said. "I'll always adore him and we will remain great friends."

"As this chapter ends for us a new one begins. I love and cherish her and her boys and we will be close forever," Trawick added.

The pair didn't want to tell the world until they went to court, according to TMZ.

"Jason didn't want to make the announcement until he was taken off the conservatorship," the entertainment website reported Friday afternoon. "Interestingly, lawyers for the conservatorship are in court right now, along with Britney's dad, Jamie Spears, so it's possible Jason will be removed today."

The split isn't entirely unexpected — unnamed sources have hinted at a breakup for weeks.

"Jason has told Britney’s entire family that he’s planning to leave her, so that Britney will have a support system when he breaks the bad news," a source told Hollyscoop in December.

JT breakup was the beginning of Britney's downward spiral >>

So, what will the 31-year-old superstar do now? She's reportedly in talks to do a residency in Las Vegas — and there's an album in the works.

"I've made the very difficult decision not to return for another season. I had an incredible time doing the show and I love the other judges and I am so proud of my teens, but it's time for me to get back in the studio," Spears said in a statement Friday. "Watching them all do their thing up on that stage every week made me miss performing so much! I can't wait to get back out there and do what I love most."

Last Monday, Switched at Birth returned with all new episodes. This season, the drama will bravely go where no other mainstream show's gone before: They're producing an episode told from the perspective of one of its deaf characters.

Switched at Birth

ABC Family's Switched at Birth is taking it to another level. The revolutionary series plans on airing its first episode featuring all sign language. It will capitalize on the show's premise, which centers on the blended family of two teenage girls — one hearing , and the other, deaf .

According to EW, the March 4 episode will feature nothing but American Sign Language . Don't worry, open captions will be shown for hearing viewers.

Switched at Birth's moms and daughters>>

Executive Producer Lizzy Weiss revealed, “I’ve been wanting to do an all-ASL episode since the series began, and the storyline we’ve been focusing on this season gave us the perfect opportunity."

The storyline in question centers on Bay , who recently signed up for the Carlton School for the Deaf’s pilot program. It's supposed to help hearing kids interact with their deaf family members.

Apparently, the school will be the setting for a heated debate, in which its students stage an uprising. "It’s an exciting, visual, empowering story of kids who are different fighting back, and it allows our audience to experience the world as our deaf characters do." Weiss explains. "We’ve been building to this for 39 episodes and we’re all thrilled to be the first to try this.”

Switched at Birth just began its second season Jan. 7. It was the number one scripted cable TV telecast for females 12-34, and for adults 18-34 for the 8 o' clock hour.

Switched at Birth airs Mondays at 8/7c on ABC Family.

Will Mindy Kaling come back to The Office for one final bow? She definitely wants to!

Mindy Kaling might come back to The Office

Will Kelly Kapoor come back to terrorize Dunder Mifflin one more time? Mindy Kaling says yes, she hopes to make it back to Scranton before The Office ends for good in May.

"My schedule’s pretty tough but I would love to come back … I love The Office," she told Access Hollywood. "I feel like whenever I go there it’s like coming home."

"I don’t wanna like, miss out on the last moment … So [executive producer] Greg Daniels and I were talking this weekend and we’re gonna try to make it work so I can come back and do one."

The Mindy Project review: Doctor Mindy treats funny bones >>

Kaling— currently starring in her own show, The Mindy Project— will probably be the only alum to come back before it's all over.

NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt put the kibosh on a Steve Carell comeback, saying last week that the way Michael Scott exited the show was exactly the way he wanted it to end.

Mindy Kaling to Marge Simpson: You're my hero >>

"I’m hopeful, but I don’t think [Carell] will be back," Greenblatt said. "He left in the way that he wanted that character to leave… There’s maybe a little Hail Mary pass on a cameo, but I think the decision is that he [doesn't want to compromise] his [original] exit."

Don't fret, fans: There's still plenty to love about the show — like adorable John Krasinski, for one. We'll be sad to see this one go, but it's time.

Joss Whedon's S.H.I.E.L.D. to skimp on the superheroes

Joss Whedon's returning to TV in a big way. He's joining forces with ABC for the comic adaptation, S.H.I.E.L.D. The show will be set in Marvel's superhero universe, but its characters will be less super -- and still heroes.

Ming-Na

Later this year, production will officially begin on Joss Whedon's S.H.I.E.L.D. The pilot is based on the top-secret agency that appears in the Marvel comics and films.

If ABC picks up the show for a full season, be prepared for some drastic changes. Unlike The Avengers, which features Thor, Iron Man, Captain America and the Hulk, S.H.I.E.L.D. will be more grounded.

Marvel reveals its top-secret TV show with Joss Whedon>>

Whedon insists that the show will be about the little guy. He told MTV, "You’ve got bring a bit of spectacle to it. It’s got to be bigger than your average cop show. But at the end of the day, it’s about the peripheral people."

Confirmed! Joss Whedon says yes to Avengers 2>>

He continued, "It’s about the people on the edges of the grand adventures. The whole point of the show is that even with all these big things, the little things matter. It’s about people who don’t have super powers."

In the same breath, Whedon explained that there will be a few characters with abilities. But we assume he means villains, not heroes. "There will be some people with powers, there will be FX, and there will be the spectacle of science-fiction storytelling, but all played on a very human, small level. That’s the appeal of the thing."

Thus far, the cast for the pilot includes Clark Gregg Ming-Na, Brett Dalton, Chloe Bennet, Elizabeth Henstridge and Iain De Caestecker.

Nicole Eggert learns style's no reward for getting skinny

Nicole Eggert is What Not to Wear's latest happy victim. After using single motherhood as an excuse to opt for shapeless clothes, the former Baywatch beauty was forced to face the infamous 360-degree mirror.

Nicole Eggert

Nicole Eggert's visit to What Not What to Wear turned out to be both a makeover of her appearance and a learning experience. After facing her reflection, the former Baywatch star listened hard to what style experts Stacy London and Clinton Kelly had to offer!

After being "kidnapped" from a red-carpet event,  Eggert confessed that as a single mom of two her everyday appearance is not a priority. "I just worry about everything else but the way I look," the almost 41-year-old — seen here with daughter Keegan — shared this past August.

What hot bods should be in the Baywatch movie with JT? >>

Eggert said one of her fears about buying clothes "in the larger size" she currently needs is that she'd be committing to staying that size and lose her motivation to drop a few pounds.

Stacy Clinton, the style guru who can sometimes be a bit blunt, kindly explained that good-looking, properly-fitting clothes shouldn't be a reward for losing weight — they're a necessity for any size. "Style is the tool to help you feel as good as you can, any day, all the time," she advised.

The Baywatch movie no one asked for gets a director>>

One person who highly approves of Eggert's makeover? Her other daughter, 14-year-old Dilyn, born during her previous marriage to actor Justin Herwick. "My mom looked fantastic," the young girl said. "This is the best I’ve seen her look in a long time."

While Eggert has recently been the victim of cruel tabloid headlines that called her "fat," among other names, many are applauding her bravery for publicly facing her body — and sharing her insecurities — on What Not to Wear.

Woman cleaning without chemicals

A fresh start without the fumes

The new year has you in the mood to deep clean the carpets and banish sticky floors, but you'd rather not keel over from the chemicals. Try these products, and you won't even need to open the windows for air.

You've finally put away the last of the holiday decorations, and the house is just empty enough to make it the perfect time to do a winter deep cleaning. The worst part about cleaning in the winter is that, depending on where you live, opening the windows to keep out the smell of those chemical-filled cleaning supplies might not be possible. Try some of these natural cleaning staples to keep your home chemical-free through the winter and all year long.

vinegarWhite vinegar

White vinegar may just be the miracle cleaning ingredient. You can use it to clean almost anything in your home.

  • Mix about a half cup with a bucket of hot water to clean floors .
  • Fill a spray bottle with three parts water, one part white vinegar to use as a general cleaner around the house.
  • To remove deep stains in carpet, drench affected spot with vinegar then apply a towel over it. Blot, do not rub, area with the towel, soaking up the stain into the towel.

Did you get a little tipsy with your wine glass? Try this technique for removing wine stains.

baking sodaBaking soda

Baking soda is a great bathroom and kitchen cleaner. Make your own baking soda paste with water and baking soda, mixing the two until your paste is the consistency of glue and then grab a toothbrush to scrub away at those nasty bathroom mildew stains. Your paste can also be used to clean sinks and help to remove the urine smell from bathroom floors.

olive oilOlive oil

Believe it or not, olive oil is one of the best things you can use for dusting and polishing wood furniture. If you plan to use it for dusting, just mix a teaspoon or so of olive oil with a spray bottle full of warm water and add about a tablespoon of white vinegar as well. For deeper polishing, just mix equal parts olive oil and hot water and wipe clean with a damp towel.

Note: Sometimes oil isn't the perfect cleaning agent, especially when it leaves a nasty stain, here's a tried and true way for how to remove oil stains.

dish soapDish soap

Not all dish soaps are necessarily chemical-free, but they are much gentler on your respiratory system than the harsh ingredients in most cleaners. Look for an organic or fragrance-free dish soap for best results. Dish soap can be used for a variety of things.

  • Presoak clothing with deep stains before washing by covering the stain with dish soap and soaking in cold water
  • Clean mirrors and windows with a spray bottle containing three parts water to one part vinegar and a tablespoon of dish soap.
  • Add a half cup of dish soap to hot water to clean wood and tile floors.

Courtney Stodden is killing it in her Reality music video — that is, if '"it" is wearing next to nothing while wriggling about and lip-synching! Watch below.

Courtney Stodden and Doug Hutchison

Courtney Stodden is pulling out all the tricks for her "Reality" music video. As seen in a behind-the scenes-look below, the 18-year-old wife of actor Doug Hutchison is puttinger her talents to work.

Wearing a see-through skirt and bikini top, the reality star lip-synchs for the camera with her hair parted into pigtails. In the background, the "Reality" video director can be heard encouraging her moves by saying, "More! Bigger!"

Courtney Stodden's sexy style saves lives, apparently >>

Courtney Stodden is looking a bit bigger , these days, don't you think? The "all natural" teen bride is pictured here looking unreal, ironically, on husband Dough Hutchison's arm on Jan. 10. From high hair to a short, short white dress and towering heels, the young lady who's a friend of PETA, went all out.

As Stodden's music video shoot continued, the director shouted out, "Great! Really convincing!"

Writhing quota reached, he classed it up a notch by ordering, "Give her the sucker! Where’s the sucker?"

Describing the video concept, she recently shared, "There's this nerd, he's a 'hot nerd,' and I get captivated by him. Is it his fantasy, is it reality? I don't know, you'll have to wait and see!"

Doug Hutchison: 'I'm raising' wife Courtney Stodden>>

As for the outfit? She explained of the jellybean creation, "I am a walking piece of candy."

Golden boys of the Golden Globes

$

It’s been a long winter, and it isn’t over. But here like a ray of sunshine is the Golden Globes, featuring the golden boys of Hollywood. That should warm us up a bit. Here’s a preview of just a few of the hunks who will be gracing this momentous event…

Bradley CooperBradley Cooper

Whether Bradley Cooper is playing a loathsome womanizer in Wedding Crashers, or a man-child in The Hangover or a guy just a bit left of center in Silver Linings Playbook, we heart him. He can zero in on the audience with a piercing gaze that makes you say, “Oh wait. This guy’s got skills. And he’s hot.” Cooper celebrated his 38th birthday recently by dumping his on-again off-again lady friend Zoe Saldana. That’s probably just as well. Bradster has more important things to focus on, like raking in tons of awards . Time for us to all settle in and enjoy an awards season of Cooper in a tux. There is a God, and he loves us.

Hugh Jackman

Did Hugh compromise his hunk status in Les Miserables by playing a downtrodden slave with a tear- and snot-stained face and purple bags under his eyes? Only briefly. It was a very fleeting moment. We humbly ask the members of the jury: Is there another man anywhere who can sing all his lines without making us want to claw his eyes out by the end of a movie? Not really. Russell Crowe did an okay job singing and maintaining hunk status, but by the end of the movie, I may have caught myself thinking, “Oh dear Lord. Not another song. Please no. Please just jump already.” But Hugh? Les Miserables proves once and for all: the man really can do no wrong.

Leonardo DiCaprio

If Leo floated your boat as Jack Dawson in Titanic, your January just got a little bit better. Sort of. Yes, Leo is nominated for a Golden Globe but he earned that nomination playing the evil plantation and slave owner Calvin Candie in Django Unchained. If it makes you feel any better, DiCaprio was also repulsed by the character, telling ABC Nightline, “This was one of the most narcissistic, self-indulgent, racist, most despicable characters I've ever read in my entire life." If you just can’t put “hunk” and “evil slave owner” together, wait to watch Leo in The Great Gatsby, set for release in May 2013.

Keith Urban

This is shaping up to be a happy New Year indeed. Legendary musician and stud Keith Urban is not only nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Original Song — Motion Picture , but we’ll also get to soak up his loveliness several times a week on American Idol. But enough prattle. Enjoy this music video showcasing Keith’s fineness:

Meredith Vieira leaving Who Wants to be a Millionaire

Meredith Vieira has given her final answer as she is officially leaving the syndicated version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire for a new venture with NBC News.

MeredithVieiraleavingMillionaire

After 11 seasons with the syndicated version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire, host Meredith Vieira has given her final answer: She's leaving the show.

A spokesperson for Disney/ABC Television told Reuters, "It's the final year of Meredith's contract. She has chosen to move on and pursue other opportunities. We are searching for a new host."

There is no word as to who will replace Vieira, but the newscaster is pretty clear she is sticking with NBC for her next venture. After leaving The Today Show in June 2011, she has remained loyal to the network by working as a special correspondent for NBC News as well as appearing on their 2012 London Olympics coverage.

The 59-year-old gave a statement to the New York Times on Thursday about her departure. She said, "It’s been a great 11 years. I am about to embark on a new adventure with NBC and I have a digital venture which will be announced shortly. This just seemed like the right time to make the move.”

Reportedly, she is going to have her own YouTube channel that covers softer news and lifestyle stories. However, that news has not been officially announced.

During her tenure at the syndicated game show, she won two Emmys for best game show host and she is the longest reigning female game show host in television history. Vieira started on the show as a celebrity contestant when Regis Philbin hosted the prime time version of the show. She took over the host slot when it was reformatted for daytime television in 2002.

Once Disney/ABC Television picks her replacement, the new host will start in the fall with the next season.

Demi Moore is keeping her cougar status

Demi Moore is reportedly dating another younger man. This time, it's Lindsay Lohan's ex-boyfriend, Harry Morton.

DemiMooreCougarDemi Moore is keeping up with her cougar status after the 50-year-old was caught on a date with 31-year-old restauranteur Harry Morton. If Morton's name sounds familiar, you are correct — he is best known for his 2006 romance with Lindsay Lohan.

A source told E! News that this isn't a new romance; it's actually been going on "for a few months." They revealed, "They have been trying to keep it a secret. It's not a serious thing... but it may develop into something. They have a lot of fun together and have been meeting in secret places in New York and Los Angeles."

The couple was spotted by paparazzi on Wednesday night leaving the South Beverly Grill in Beverly Hills. Eyewitnesses reported to E! News that it was clearly a date and they were "flirtatious, laughing, and appearing to have a great time."

That's good news for Moore, who has had a hard time moving on from her soon-to-be ex, Ashton Kutcher. Kutcher filed for divorce in late December and he's happily coupled up with Black Swan star Mila Kunis.

Moore has struggled to find her footing in the aftermath with an overdose, a stint in rehab and a series of younger men. Will Pink Taco and Viper Room owner be the magic elixir?

The E! News source seems to think it's a step in the right direction. They said, "It's no surprise that she would be attracted to him, as he's a catch. They are just getting to know one another, [but Moore's] in a really good place at the moment and is hopeful about the future."

Now, let's hope this news doesn't send Lohan over the edge again. In 2009, Morton described his time with Lohan to Inked Magazine as, "the worst thing of all time... I'll be happy if it never happens again."

Perhaps his romance with Moore will be a little less crazy and a whole lot happier. Or according to TMZ, this supposed romance is nothing but two friends having dinner…"it's strictly a platonic thing."

We're not sure who to believe right now, but can anyone keep up with Moore's dating life these days, anyway?

Beyoncé's media blitz

If you are wondering who "rules the world", the answer is Beyoncé: She's set to launch a two-month media blitz that involves the presidential inauguration, the Super Bowl, and an HBO documentary.

BeyonceMediaBlitz

Over the next month, get ready for the all day, all night, all Beyoncé media blitz. The music diva is preparing to bombard the entertainment scene with music, appearances and her highly- anticipated HBO documentary.

Her time in the spotlight begins with the presidential inauguration on Jan. 21. Beyoncé is scheduled to sing the National Anthem at the U.S. Capitol for President Obama's second term. She also sang at the president's first inauguration at one of the celebratory balls with Etta James' classic, "At Last."

Her next big appearance will be the halftime show at the Super Bowl on Feb. 3. The "Crazy in Love" singer will not only sing her solo hits, but she will be joined by her Destiny's Child bandmates, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams.

The group will not only sing a medley of their greatest hits, but they will also debut their first new song in eight years called "Nuclear." Of course, the superstar doesn't want to be upstaged by her former girl group, so she will also debut a track from her upcoming fifth studio album.

Are you exhausted yet? There is still more. The HBO documentary featuring — you guessed it — Beyoncé, will premiere on Feb. 16.

Life is But a Dream is being described by HBO as, "A portrait of Beyoncé strips away the veneer of stardom to display the extraordinary gifts."

Part of the "extraordinary gifts" she will be sharing include her baby bump and sonogram. These will hopefully lay to rest the rumors that she faked her pregnancy and secretly used a surrogate.

A new teaser of the documentary was released on Friday and it shows the pressure and the chaos of living an over-the-top life. However, it's good to remember that the 31-year-old directed and produced the film herself, so she controlled the shots on her personal life.

If that isn't enough for Beyoncé fans they can always check out the latest GQ magazine, where Beyonce sports a sexy bikini bottom and tiny baby t-shirt top on the cover. Or, for glossy, glamorous shots of the superstar, check out her Tumblr account.

Hopefully, after the media blitz, Beyoncé will take a long nap with her hip-hop husband Jay-Z, so they don't become too over-exposed. In the meantime, take a look at her new HBO teaser.

After battling rumors all fall, Saturday Night Live funnyman Jason Sudeikis and actress Olivia Wilde are officially engaged.

SudeikisWildeengaged

The year is only 12 days old but the new year has brought lots of baby bump news and of course, engagements. It's time to add Jason Sudeikis and Olivia Wilde to that list.

Peoplebroke the news on Saturday that the Saturday Night Live actor proposed after the holidays. The engagement should come as no surprise to their fans, as the couple have talked openly about their relationship.

The 28-year-old actress has admitted to falling "blissfully, hopelessly, wildly in love" with Sudeikis. The two began dating in Nov. 2011 and they became inseparable almost immediately.

The engagement rumors have been trailing the couple all fall and Wilde even denied the engagement news back in December. She tweeted on Dec. 13, "No I'm not engaged but I AM at the Stones show and holy sh*t Ronnie Wood you got style, boy. It's just a fact. Trying to score a shoe pic."

While that might be an unusual denial, an engagement was clearly just around the corner for the duo.

There has been no wedding date set as of yet, but they both have a full slate of films ahead of them in 2013. Sudeikis has the animated film, Epic, coming in May and the highly anticipated We're the Millers with Jennifer Aniston hitting the screens in August.

Wilde also has two films this year: The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, hitting the big screen in March and Rush, directed by Ron Howard, out in September.

This will be the second marriage for both actors. The SNL funnyman was married to Kay Cannon, a 30 Rock writer, for six years, while Wilde was married to Prince Tao Ruspoli for eight years. She infamously overshared at a Glamour event that during her first marriage, "I felt like my vagina died."

Let's hope that doesn't happen in her second marriage to Sudeikis. We wish them the best in their new life together!

Sweat with your man and get sexy and fit as a couple

The only thing better than getting into shape and meeting your fitness goals is being able to do it as a couple. You and your significant other may not have thought about hitting the gym together but there are lots of great reasons to burn calories as a couple. From extra motivation to a better bond, we’re sharing some of the best reasons to sweat it out together.

Couple at gym

Quick tip: Add a little competition to your workouts to further motivate you both. Whether it’s a race around the track or in the pool, or a test to see who can complete a circuit fastest, spicing things up with some healthy competition is a fun way to take advantage of working out together.

You’ll be mega-motivated

Working out alone can get boring, and there are days when you know you should go to the gym, but it’s just easier to go straight home after work and vow to go the next day. But what if you had a gym date with your guy? You’ll be much less likely to skip out on a workout if you know he’s waiting for you. Not to mention that seeing him hit his target heart rate zone and burn off last night’s date-night dinner should inspire you to keep going even when you’re feeling less than motivated.

You’ll boost your bond

While it’s nice to have some solo hobbies and interests, having a few things you and your partner do together is a simple but effective way to boost your bond. Why not make working out something you do as a couple? Even if you don’t have time to work out together five times a week, even committing to two gym sessions per week can act as a built-in “date” night and ensure you get to spend some quality time together.

You’ll increase passion

Once your blood starts pumping and those exercise-induced endorphins start moving through your body, you’re much more likely to feel sexy and see your partner in a more attractive light. Plus, working out makes you feel better about yourself , making it easier to get in the mood for sex. Working out side by side can also increase intimacy, which further has a hand in increasing post-workout passion.

You’ll have a lot more fun

One of the best and easiest ways to bust fitness boredom is to work out with someone else, so why not make that person your significant other? Choose activities that go beyond being on two treadmills across from each other and really work together to inject some fun into your workouts, which will benefit both of you. Instead of just hitting the gym together three times each week, supplement your joint workouts with other, more playful activities like playing one-on-one basketball, joining a weekly co-ed sports league, playing a round of golf or testing your indoor rock-climbing skills.

Everything I learned about running my business...

Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares

...I learned from Gordon Ramsay

It's hard being a large and in-charge lady running a business, whether you're a small-business owner or a high-powered CEO. Ditch those running-a-business books and tune in to BBC America to learn lessons from the master of telling it how it is.

Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay certainly doesn't mind dropping an f-bomb here and there, and he has a multitude of colorful things to say to managers and employees alike. But it's hard to hate him when you know he's right.

But his advice doesn't just apply to restauranteurs. As a freelance writer with restaurant experience, I've found that almost everything he says applies equally to my business. While the lessons you could learn from the feisty Brit are endless, these may be the most important for any business owner… even if the staff is just you.

"Look at the size of this bloody menu!"

It never fails that the restaurants in the worst shape have the most items on their menus. Instead of doing a few things well, the chefs think they have to cater to every possible demand a customer could have. The flaw in this logic is that you can't get really good at anything if you're trying to do it all.

Take a hard look at the products and services you're offering and decide what really needs your focus and what you can leave to other companies. Decide what you want your focus to be and focus on it. That doesn't mean you can't offer special services if your client needs them, but carefully consider how well you can really do it, how much time it will take away from your focus and whether or not you can outsource it to a colleague.

"You call that a pudding!?"

Speaking of products and services, are they really as good as you think they are? Ramsay spends a lot of time during every episode on quality control. Just as Ramsay is disgusted by a chef who's willing to serve customers gritty mussels over mushy pasta with watery sauce, you need to take an honest look at the products and services you're offering and decide if they're really up to market standards. If not, where do you get off charging market prices?

If improving your offerings can't be done without raising your prices , then you may not know what you're doing. Take a class, learn to do quality work faster and practice, practice, practice to hone your craft or product.

"Get out of the f***ing kitchen!"

Chefs belong in the kitchen, managers do not. If you've hired someone else to do a job that you don't know how to do, get out of their way and let them do it. That doesn't mean you shouldn't communicate or that you're not in charge, but it does mean they need some space to succeed. If they don't succeed after giving them space, you may have hired the wrong person.

"This place is a bloody rat hole!"

Sometimes, part of relaunching a restaurant means a dining room makeover. If you're trying to improve your image, an updated wardrobe goes a long way to making people see you've changed. Clients and employees will take you more seriously, but more important, so will you.

"Why won't you shut the hell up and listen?"

This is going to be hard to take, so brace yourself. You're not perfect, and you're not always right. Listen to what your customers, employees and colleagues are saying and really consider what you could do to improve. Most people aren't just trying to hurt your feelings, they're expressing their feelings, which are most likely based in fact. Treat every person with the same respect you'd like to be treated, even if you don't like what they're saying. They're probably right.

"You're 51? The website says the chef is 22."

Ramsay understands the importance of an accurate web presence. These days, you don't exist if you aren't online. And even if you don't buy that, it doesn't mean other people aren't writing about you. Set up and maintain the right kind of online presence for your business, whether that's a website or a LinkedIn page. If you're not sure, look at what your competition is doing — then up the ante.

"£15 for fish and chips?!"

Probably the biggest sin any freelancer or business owner can commit is not knowing how much things cost in contrast with fair market value. If you have to charge more for your offerings to make money, don't hide behind the classic "because that's what it's worth if you get it from me." The reality is, you're not controlling costs. If you have the best $1 taco in the world at your food truck, you'll sell more than the guy who serves mediocre ones for the same price, and you'll still make more money.

But beware of the opposite problem, too. Cost control also means not overspending on hard and administrative costs and not undercharging just to undercut the competition.

More lessons from Ramsay

The list goes on, but that's a book, not an article. But you definitely have enough to work on with these. If you want the rest, tune in to Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares on BBCA.

Not everyone can pull off the oversize updo, but if anyone can do it with poise and elegance, it’s Julia Roberts. She did it at the 2001 Golden Globes where she took top acting prize for her role in legal drama Erin Brockovich.

On the wrong person in the wrong outfit, ringlets don’t always make for a sophisticated hairstyle, but in 2005, Emmy Rossum really made ringlets work. They were bouncy, shiny and her hair was long enough to make the look chic versus childish.

Tanned, toned and always polished, Emmanuelle Chriqui showed up at the Golden Globes in 2007 with a wow-worthy hairstyle right out of the 1960s — and we loved it. Bouffant on top and long and tousled everywhere else, the look was perfectly suited to the mod green cocktail dress.

There’s something totally timeless about long, loose blond waves, and in 2010, Amanda Seyfried owned this look and made it look easy. At first glance, the style might seem too simple, but we think that’s what makes it chic.

Another blonde Golden Globes look we loved was from John Hamm’s other half Jennifer Westfeldt, who wore a relaxed yet elegant style to the awards show that year. The delicate waves are well-accompanied by a sleek gown and pretty drop earrings.

Sunday Dinner: Chicken Parmesan sandwiches

Do you normally serve chicken Parmesan with pasta? Switch things up this Sunday and serve chicken Parmesan sandwiches instead!

Chicken Parmesan sandwiches

A sandwich is a sandwich, right? Not quite! This recipe for chicken Parmesan sandwiches makes a super-hearty and delightful meal with a twist. Instead of serving up Italian-inspired chicken Parmesan with a side of pasta, serve it up as a sandwich. It's easy to make, and your family will enjoy the switch for this Sunday dinner.

Chicken Parmesan sandwiches

Serves 4

Ingredients:

  • 4 skinless chicken breasts
  • 4 long, hoagie-style bread rolls
  • 2 eggs, beaten and added to a shallow bowl
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs added to a shallow bowl
  • 1/3 cup flour added to a shallow bowl
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 slices mozzarella or Provolone cheese
  • 1/3 cup prepared tomato sauce

Directions:

  1. Turn your oven to broil.
  2. Add the salt, pepper, and Parmesan cheese to the breadcrumbs to season, and mix well.
  3. Place a large platter next to the bowls containing the flour, egg, and breadcrumbs. Dredge each of the chicken breasts into the flour first, coating both sides, then into the egg, allowing the excess to drip off, and finally into the breadcrumbs. Place on the platter.
  4. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the olive oil. When it's hot, add the chicken breasts and cook, 3-4 minutes on each side, until they are golden and cooked through.
  5. Slice your bread rolls in half, but don't cut them all the way through . Open them up so they lay flat and place on a baking sheet.
  6. Add one chicken breast to the top of each bread roll. Add about 2 tablespoons of tomato sauce over each, then top with the mozzarella or Provolone cheese.
  7. Place the baking sheet in the oven and broil for 2-4 minutes, just until the cheese melts and bubbles. Keep a close watch on them so they don't burn.
  8. Serve warm with extra tomato sauce.
