IMAX's new spin class looks totally insane

$

I'm a spin class addict for several reasons: 1) I'm directionally disabled and often get lost riding my bike on actual streets; 2) I can't seem to get motivated unless someone is literally screaming at me to pedal harder; 3) I love how completely nuts spin classes have become — at my last SoulCycle class, the instructor was brandishing glow sticks while cranking Missy Elliot — it felt like being out clubbing, sans the hangover.

More: Londoners are going crazy for hotpod yoga

So obviously I'm excited about IMAX's new virtual reality-inspired fitness concept, IMAXShift, that promises to use IMAX's technology to "take you from the front of your saddle to the edge of reality." Sign me up!

IMAXShift

IMAXShift

This new futuristic spin class claims to be many things: "intense, emotional, spiritual, performance-driven and altogether epic." And while I don't know about the whole "spiritual" angle, it does sound pretty intense — you can go on different "journeys," cruising through scenic palm tree-lined waterways, fantastic renditions of galaxies far away or bolts of neon lightning.

More: Trying to be a positive yogi only filled me with rage

Like many spin classes, it's an interval-based workout where you ride to the beat, simulating different types of cycling experiences, like hill climbing and sprinting. But this workout is different because you'll be doing it in front of a massive screen, and it allows you to view your speed — you can log your time and compare it to past workouts online after class.

IMAX may just be on to something. The fitness industry is exploding right now — a whopping 54 million Americans are members of health clubs, and boutique studios are leading the charge. Just going to the regular-old gym is a thing of the past for many, as poeple are looking for unique, individualized experiences at their fitness studios. Plus, giving participants the option to monitor their progress also appeals to the fitness tracker-obsessed among us.

In a statement, IMAX chief business development officer Robert D. Lister said that the experience could "set the stage for a new movement in physical activity." He says there's "clear growing consumer demand for more engaging group experiences" when it comes to fitness, promising participants that IMAXShift would be "unlike anything they've experienced before."

The downside? So far, you can only do IMAXShift in their test-studio in Brooklyn starting April 28, and it's super expensive — We're talking  $325 a month, or $31 a ride.

Until then, I'll continue to take in IMAX the old fashioned way — with a bucket of popcorn in a weird vibrating chair.

Do Castle's Kate and Castle really hate each other in real life?

It's only been a little over 24 hours since we found out Castle fan favorite Kate Beckett is leaving the show — and now we may know why. Rumor has it that Kate and Castle's offscreen relationship is nothing like their wedded bliss in the series.

In fact, an inside source says that Stana Katic and Nathan Fillion — who play Kate and Castle, respectively — were arguing so much behind the scenes that production had to take desperate measures to try to preserve the show.

"Stana Katic and Nathan Fillion completely despise each other... they will not speak when they are off set, and this has been going on for seasons now," the insider told Us Weekly. "This season, it got so out of hand they made Stana and Nathan go to couples counseling together."

More: 6 reasons I won't watch Castle without Kate Beckett

Couples counseling... for real? You can't say they didn't try.

Us' source also added that Katic was often in tears because of her interactions with Fillion.

It seems on the surface that Katic and Fillion's adversarial relationship may be the reason for her departure, but The Hollywood Reporter reports that ABC might actually be ending Katic's run on the show to cut costs — which also explains why Tamala Jones' character Lanie Parish was written out of the series.

Whatever the reason for Katic's departure, fans are so not having it. Many are saying they would rather just have the show end altogether than see Kate/Katic exit.

"Noooooooooo don't leave... just cancel it. I'm sorry they couldn't work together — not even for a paycheck. It used to be a good show..." Anonymous commented on Us' thread, and another Us reader named Rachel wrote, "The show will definitely plummet in ratings without her. I've read before he's difficult on set and said the name of the show is castle, not Beckett. Sorry — without her theres really not much of a story for a hokey show! [sic]."

And fans on Twitter echoed the sentiment.

Brandi Glanville isn't afraid to talk about therapy and we love her for it

More often than not, when former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Brandi Glanville has been in the news, it's for drama involving her ex-husband Eddie Cibrian and his current wife, LeAnn Rimes. To be fair, Cibrian cheated on Glanville — that has to be incredibly painful. But it also has never seemed healthy to hear Glanville publicly call out and ridicule her ex's new wife. In a new interview with Bravo TV's The Daily Dish, Glanville seems happier and healthier than ever and totally secure in her relationship with her family.

"I think we're realizing that it's all about the kids. It's not about us," Glanville said. "And there's no point at this point to bicker about silly things because they're together, happily married. I'm happy and single, but with the kids, so we don't have to have a rift between the three of us. There's no point. We have to come together for the kids, and we're really working on that. And I'm happy about it."

More: Brandi Glanville's naked butt is getting less attention than her messy room

Glanville also confirmed that she's been seeing Real World/Road Rules alum Theo Von. How does she balance being a mom and a new girlfriend? It's tricky, she says. "I don't have a balance at the moment. When I have the boys, I'm 100 percent super Mom," she said. "[The kids are] getting older [and] I'm realizing I'm getting older, too, and I have to figure out what that balance is. Can I bring potential boyfriends around? Is it OK? Why am I so uncomfortable with it? I don't want to hurt the kids, but they keep on asking me why there's no boyfriend, and it's odd. So I'm working on that in therapy. But I haven't figured out what exactly the balance is going to be yet, but I know there needs to be one. Because right now, I have two separate personalities."

Don't watch RHOBH's Erika Jayne's video around your children

I wanted to watch Erika Jayne's new video for her song How Many F***s so I could accurately report on things like its cultural relevance, its reflection on her life as a trophy wife and reality star, and why she is trying to be some sort of strange Christina Aguilera/Fergie/Gwen Stefani hybrid, but I don't want to scar my child for life.

Working from home has its advantages, one of which is that I can type away on my laptop while my not-quite-4-year-old hangs out with me, and my toddler naps. But alas, that means I am unable to revel in the glory of Jayne's new music video, because judging from its title alone, this is one tune I probably don't want my kid singing at preschool.

That's fine — I mean, I can always watch it later tonight when the children are both in bed, no biggie — but that means, that for now, I can't really tell you if the song is absolutely amazing or if it will make you want to stab your ears out. She looks great, I can say that. She is 44 years old and would look great for a 20-something, let alone a middle-aged Real Housewife.

But you! As long as you are in a room where there are no small children or potential HR reporters, you can watch this video! See?

Wee Mason jar lid pies are almost too cute to eat

No need for pie pans when baking these cute little pies. All you need are Mason jar lids. I especially like how easy it is to remove the pie from the lid after it's baked. Once the pies are baked and cooled just a bit, the bottom part of the lid can be pushed up and out of the outside ring and then completely removed from the lid. And just like that, the cutest mini pies ever.

These are made with fresh strawberries, but feel free to make them with other berries too.

To make these cuties, start by making the filling. To a medium-size bowl, add the berries, lemon juice, sugar, brown sugar and cornstarch.

Heat the oven to 375 degrees F. Roll out the pie crust into a 9-inch round. I used premade pie crust dough that I bought in the dairy section of the grocery store.

Image: Nancy Foster/SheKnows

The lids I used were 3 inches in diameter, and the pie crusts need to be 1 inch larger in diameter. So I hunted around my cupboards for a small bowl or glass that was 4 inches in diameter. I found these cocktail glasses that worked perfectly for cutting the pie dough. An alternative is to use the inside of the Mason jar lid as a cutting guide, and cut the dough 1 inch larger in diameter.

After cutting the dough rounds, make sure to turn the bottoms of the Mason jar lids over so that the bottoms of the pies will be in contact with the metal sides (instead of the sides with the rubber seal on it).

Then roll and tuck the edges of the pie crusts on the inside of the lids. This is important, because if the pie crust is on the outside of the edge, it will droop and hang off the sides when baked.

Mason jar lid strawberry pies recipe

Yields 8

Prep time: 45 minutes | Bake time: 40 minutes | Total time: 1 hour 25 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 container (16 ounces) fresh strawberries, washed, stems removed, cut into quarters
  • 3 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • Pie crust dough (two 9-inch rounds)
  • 1 tablespoon water (for sealing the pie dough)
  • 1 egg yolk (for the egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon water (for the egg wash)
  • 1/4 cup white sanding sugar or sugar crystals (for the topping)
  • 8 (3-inch-diameter) Mason jar lids

Directions:

  1. Heat the oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. To a medium-size bowl, add the berries, lemon juice, sugar, brown sugar and cornstarch. Mix together, and set aside.
  3. The pie crusts need to be 1 inch larger in diameter than the Mason jar lids. If using 3-inch-diameter Mason jar lids, the pie crust rounds need to be 4 inches in diameter. For cutting the pie dough, use a glass or small bowl that is 4 inches in diameter. Or use the inside of the Mason jar lid as a cutting guide, and cut the dough 1 inch larger in diameter with a knife.
  4. Lay a pie crust evenly in each lid.
  5. Use a slotted spoon when filling the pie crusts with berries. Try to not get any of the juice in the spoon when transferring the berries to the pie crusts.
  6. Dip your finger in water, and run it around the inside edge of the bottom pie crusts. Then top the pies with another round of dough.
  7. Pinch the edges of the pie crusts together so the edges are tightly sealed.
  8. Roll and tuck the edges of the pie crusts on the inside of the lids.
  9. Make slits on top of the pies so the steam can escape.
  10. Whisk together the egg yolk and water. Brush it on the top of each pie.
  11. Sprinkle sugar crystals on top.
  12. Line a shallow baking pan or cookie sheet with edges with parchment paper. Set the pies on top of the parchment paper, and bake until the crusts turn a golden brown (about 35 – 40 minutes).
  13. Let cool until the lids are cool enough to handle. Carefully push the bottoms of the lids up and out of the rim sections of the lids. Then carefully remove the bottom parts of the lids from the pies.
  14. Serve as soon as the pies are removed from the lids, when they're still warm on the inside.

Jealous much? New mattress can tell if your partner is cheating

Worried your partner might be cheating on you? Forget having a conversation — now you can just spy on them via your mattress!

Meet Smarttress, a smart mattress that comes from Spanish company Durmet and promises to let you know "if anybody uses your bed in a suspicious way."

More: 6 Interesting stats about infidelity in the United States

Smartress

Smartress

A Smarttress video starts off by warning viewers of all the new ways there are to meet people in the age of the internet, which has apparently "boosted infidelity rates." Durmet warns: "The global infidelity crisis KNOCKS ON YOUR DOOR!" The video shows several sensational headlines about breakups "caused by" platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook and Ashley Madison. We see several images of despondent lovers with cheating partners in the throes of despair.

But Durmet promises to restore peace of mind via their "lover detection system." What's that, you ask? Oh, it just entails embedding vibration-detecting sensors in your bed springs and other sensors that detect contact of a sexual nature. And it doesn't stop there. Smarttress sends alerts to your phone, detailing the "intensity and impact per minute" of your sig other's affair — you can even see where they're doing the deed via illuminated "pressure points" that light up on a 3D-rendering of your bed. Sounds like TMI to me, but I guess I'm not the target demographic for a mattress that doubles as a bedroom spy.

More: Now you can do Kegel exercises with your smartphone

Damien Lucas, a spokesperson for Smarttress, explains just how much info this mattress can relay in an interview with Broadly. Users will be able to see "a clock ticking, which will tell you how long the activity has lasted — you know, whether it's 10 minutes or 15 minutes," he says. "Then, if you slide to another screen, you can also see the pressure, the rhythm and velocity of the activity."

Durmet promises that this new tech is "reassuring" (and not going to drive you completely and utterly insane as you wait to find our if your partner is having epic sex at a high velocity and impact rate per minute), because "if your partner isn't faithful, at least your mattress is."

Now you can pre-order this $1,800 mattress — confidentially, of course, because there's nothing at all unethical about not telling people they're being spied on as they sleep — and download the app in the App Store.

Or, you and your partner could just try working on your trust issues, which is much cheaper.

Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green had a very modern marriage problem

We're going with the assumption that Brian Austin Green is the father of Megan Fox's soon-to-debut third baby, so has the couple resolved the issues that led to their split in the first place?

Fox and Green announced their intention to divorce last August, but they seem to have put it on the back burner since Fox fell pregnant. She is reportedly around five months along.

But a new baby does not magically fix a marriage and, in fact, can cause an even bigger rift if the issues present before the pregnancy are not resolved. So what was happening in the Fox-Green home that made them want to break up their family in the first place?

"They had several conflicts that led to the divorce," a family source told People magazine. "Megan worked a lot last year, and she continues to work a lot. When she is away, Brian stays with the kids. Before they filed for divorce, they had disagreements about this situation."

More: Megan Fox, Brian Austin Green's divorce details are pretty surprising

Adding to Green's frustrations: He was left with severe vertigo after a car accident and was often unable to get out of bed and work on a set all day.

"Megan is a great mom, but also wants to keep her great career," said the source. "Brian ended up being a stay-at-home dad. He is happy to be with the kids, but also wants another life than just being a dad."

Now that she's pregnant — and the father is not any of these three guys — the couple is reportedly living together again and trying to make it work.

"Maybe a third baby will bring them closer," said the family source (rather unconvincingly). "It seems they both think it's worth trying a bit harder to keep their family together as it is."

Good luck with that! But seriously, for the sake of both of them and their kids, hopefully they can find a way to really work it out and be truly happy together.

Captain Kate Beckett's Castle exit will break my heart more than Castle's

$
0
0

When news struck that Castle was not renewing Stana Katic's contract for Season 9, my heart sank. Actually no, my first reaction was a full throttle "WTF?" But after watching last night's episode, it got me really thinking: Who's heart will ache for Captain Beckett more: Mine or Castle's?

More: Castle: 6 reasons I won't watch the show without this key player

The will-they-or-won't-they sexual tension and build up between Castle and Beckett was a major selling point for the first four to five seasons of the show. When they finally did get together, a collective tear of joy was shed from the fandom. For a while, it seemed like #Caskett was rock solid, and the episodes shifted back and forth between quirky cases and international intrigue — with life or death cliffhangers tossed in between.

Now it seems trouble in paradise is not only on the horizon but also inevitable. Can Castle be Castle without Beckett? The yin and yang of Rick's goofy nature to Kate's studious tone is what made their partnership so great.

The shift on the horizon began a few episodes ago when a case took Castle and his P.I. troupe to Los Angeles. This was a full episode without Captain Kate Beckett. Granted, the episode was still entertaining, but something was missing — and a far shadier character emerged from the shadows. Private detective Haley has been a part of the show for a few seasons now, but every time she emerged to the forefront in an episode, something from her shady past came to light.

More: 5 theories about the new lady in Castle's life, Haley

Last night's episode was another instance where we learned more about Haley and her mysterious past. It feels as though there are too many secrets but at the expense of having the same tiresome cycle of plot lines. If the show is going in the direction of icing out warm Beckett in favor of shady Haley, I'm not sure if there will be enough chemistry and playfulness to sustain it going forward. Beckett allowed Castle the freedom to be his fun-loving self and allowed the show to explore themes and plot lines outside of the all-too-familiar serious police procedural.

With no more Beckett, will this mean no more #Caskett? The reason Beckett was so integral to the show was her relationship with Castle. We could "always" rely on them being together and having each other's backs in the toughest of situations. Without Beckett, the new direction seems less "always" as Castle had so often promised to Beckett and more "meh" or "I don't know." And that leaves us with too much up in the air for this once solid Monday night staple.

Game of Thrones' Thoros of Myr is returning — but will Lady Stoneheart show up?

As if we weren't all excited enough for the quickly approaching return of Game of Thrones, now anticipation can rise to a fever pitch as we've learned that the familiar face of Thoros of Myr will be back to grace Season 6.

Through some carefully crafted internet sleuthing, GoT community Watchers on the Wall uncovered that Paul Kaye has been filming scenes for the upcoming season and he will be involved in a hanging scene of sorts.

More: Don't freak out, but Game of Thrones' days are numbered

While everyone is pretty happy to learn that Kaye's Thoros of Myr — who hasn't been seen on the show since Season 3 — is returning, the real giddiness comes from the implication of his presence: It could actually mean that Michelle Fairley will be back to reprise her role as Catelyn Stark turned Lady Stoneheart.

OK, LeeAnne Locken — tell us how you really feel about RHOD's Brandi Redmond

More: The Real Housewives of Dallas star responds to porn allegations

LeeAnne Locken is literally a child of the circus. She grew up on the carnival circuit and, now, in a way, she's back on it, as a cast member of The Real Housewives of Dallas. Locken is known as the queen of the Dallas charity circuit, supporting organizations in the city including the SPCA of Texas and AIDS Services Dallas. She didn't plan on becoming such a staple of fundraising, Locken told SheKnows, it just sort of happened. "I was asked to help promote and volunteer at one and it was a ripple effect! One led to three led to 10 and now I have a really hard time saying no."

The Real Housewives of Dallas is a brand new show but already Locken has become notorious for her tense relationship with costar Brandi Redmond. The two have clashed over etiquette, Redmond's impression of LeeAnne and, most recently, appropriate hats.

Redmond certainly has had a lot to say about Locken behind her back, but it's what she's said to her face that's caused much of the ruckus so far this season, including her comment that people in Dallas are afraid of Locken. "I think it's great that she is willing to speak her mind, but she is clearly either exaggerating or just doesn't know. Brandi doesn't live in Dallas... I am of absolutely no threat to anyone nor would I want to be! Does it bother me? If I thought she really knew enough people that it might be true, maybe but honestly no. I actually think it’s kind of funny."

More: The Real Housewives might be headed to the Lone Star state

Locken is rather a non-traditional sort of Southern woman, especially in the context of the rest of the RHOD cast, who are, for the most part, like Redmond, married with children. Locken is 48, doesn't have children and lives with her boyfriend, Rich, and her very beloved dogs. She's very much content in her current situation, contrary to what her best friend, RHOD castmate Tiffany Hendra, might think. Hendra recently hypothesized that Locken might not feel like she had to be such a star in the charity scene if she and Rich were married, but Locken objects. "I love Tiffany for thinking it and wanting me to be settled," said Locken, "but I truly already am. I have a better relationship than most marriages in any town. We treat each other with respect and trust. Rich is one of my biggest blessings ever. I am a 'superstar' in the charity scene because there is a need."

Locken and Redmond might have more in common than they think in that they're both, in some ways, shirking convention — Locken with her marital situation and Redmond with her sense of humor. Locken doesn't buy Redmond's claim that she doesn't care what people think of her, though. "I think Brandi does care about what people think or she wouldn’t attack back on social media when people attack her," Locken said. Money, though, certainly plays a role in Redmond's ability to act as though she couldn't care less about social graces, according to Locken. "Of course she would act differently if they didn’t have money. Money has a tendency to deliver false confidence. I think Brandi has more grace than that!"

We have a whole season of The Real Housewives of Dallas ahead of us, and only time will tell if Locken and Redmond will continue their feud, but Locken is already reflecting on what it will mean when it's over, especially in regard to the strained relationships between castmates. "I think this is going to be a really difficult journey for all of us watching how we behaved and I think it would be nice if we bonded as a group to support one another."

Daisy Ridley says her self-esteem is a big issue and that's OK

$

If you’re active on Instagram, you’ve probably seen at least two celebrities post #NoMakeup #NoFilter photos today. If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably caught yourself looking at those photos and calling BS. Today is our lucky day because Daisy Ridley has revealed the truth behind those “I woke up like this” photos.

More: Estelle's #nomakeup, #nofilter selfie favorites

The Star Wars actor posted a photo that claimed to be both #NoMakeup and #NoFilter, but then immediately said in the caption neither of those things are true. Her aim was to shed light on the fact that social media creates a strange, fake world that we all buy into and stressed the importance of checking ourselves every now and then.

She wrote in her post, “Self esteem is a huge issue for people around the world. My skin isn't great so I don't post no make up selfies, much as I'd like to; I have a trainer urging me on in workouts and don't include all the times I say 'I can't do it' and I don't smile all the time but I like to share the pictures where I am. But I actually do love myself, I try to think good thoughts always and am surrounded by the most wonderful people, so I'm keeping it balanced (like the Force, obvs).”

More: #LoveYourLines: Inspiring quotes from women celebrating their stretch marks

I have to say, reading such a genuine post from a celebrity completely unprovoked by scandal or product endorsement was a little unnerving at first. How often do we get to hear them (or anyone) admit that they aren’t perfect and that their profiles are carefully crafted? Ridley exposed what we all know to be true but are too afraid to admit. But now maybe that can change.

Maybe all we needed was permission to admit sometimes we’re not out having the time of our lives. Sometimes makeup is the only reason we can go out in public and sometimes we feel so good about ourselves we wonder why we ever bought makeup. All of those things are OK. All of those things should be celebrated and shared on social media.

It sounds obvious, but we all clearly needed a reminder. Thank you, Daisy, for giving that to us.

On Tuesday, The CW welcomed the latest series from extremely talented executive producer Julie Plec (The Vampire Diaries, The Originals). Based on the pilot, it sure looks like she has another hit on her hands. You know what else? It's another series that will both terrify you and make you never want to go outside ever again without a mask and gloves.

The 13-episode limited event series revolves around a virus outbreak in Atlanta and the city's residents dealing with the fact that their homes and loved ones could be decimated thanks to an extremely fatal virus that spreads through bodily fluids. The show is hugely about survival and stopping the virus (aka a modified version of avian influenza) before it wipes out not only an entire city but possibly the entire country if it manages to spread.

When I wasn't finding comfort in Chris Wood (he plays police officer Jake Riley) and his smile (anyone else miss him as Kai on TVD?), I found myself becoming terrified at everything else happening. By the way, never eat while watching Containment. Trust me, you won't be able to keep down your food.

The series is legitimately the most terrifying CW creation yet. If you thought demons, vampires and evil speedsters were bad, you haven't seen anything.

First and foremost, this is something that could actually happen. Think about it. If a fatal virus were to spread through your town, how scary would that be? You are putting your life in the hands of medical professionals and anyone else in charge to figure out a cure and prevent everyone from dying. I don't know about you, but being quarantined and trying to not be exposed would make me live in complete and total fear.

More: The Vampire Diaries: Why I'm more than happy to see the show go

If that isn't bad enough, it is way more gruesome than the blood that is usually sucked and spilled on TVD and The Originals. It definitely made me think about the germs I probably come in contact with on a daily basis. Yeah, I need to start washing my hands and using hand sanitizer way more than I already do.

What makes it even scarier is you don't know who to trust. I mean, this is the type of show where everyone just might stop trusting their loved ones. How do they know if they haven't been exposed to the virus? They also won't be able to have any physical contact with their friends and family. Remember, the rule is to stay four to six feet away from anyone and everyone. That would be terribly difficult to do.

As the pilot teased with the opening scene on Day 13, it's clear things are going to go from bad to worse. Basically, it will soon be pure chaos. That's right, no vampires here to compel everyone to remain calm.

If you thought Damon Salvatore and Klaus Mikaelson were the only ones capable of giving you nightmares, clearly you never thought about the effects of a fatal virus. I think that's my cue to go put my disinfectant spray and wipes to good use.

Containment airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on The CW.

There is the benefit of having people around, but other patrons aren't paying attention to your date and whether or not you feel comfortable. Not to mention, all bets are off once you leave.

The proprietors of The Brickyard, a bar in St. Albans, England, realize that and posted a sign offering to help women get out of a bad situation, no questions asked.

Image: Imgur

"Tinder Date Gone Wrong?" reads the sign, posted recently on Imgur. "Doesn't look like his picture, or just plain weird? If you're on a bad date and it's not going well, come to the bar and ask for Rachelle or Jennifer and we'll get you out of it and/or get you a taxi. Your safety and happiness is our highest priority. If anyone is bothering you or making you feel uncomfortable please tell us. We will discreetly move them away, and if necessary, ask them to leave."

The sign has since gone viral, but staff at The Brickyard didn't expect it — they just want to make a comfortable environment for everyone.

"A sign that was designed purely for the safety of our female customers has caught the eyes of thousands (all genders!) and you have all touched our hearts with your support, so thank you for this," a staff member from The Brickyard told Metro UK.

Next up for The Brickyard? A similar safety campaign for men, because people of all genders deserve to feel safe. Let's hope other bars follow suit.

New York man is suing his ex to get $30K engagement ring back

More: Professional bridesmaids are the next big thing in wedding planning

According to The New York Post, Philip Langer and Ashley Jae Chesler met in 2014 and got engaged three months later with a $30,000 engagement ring that features a 2.52-carat diamond surrounded by 34 rubies and 55 smaller diamonds.

Langer said that Chesler called off the wedding several months ago — for unnamed reasons — but she still hasn't returned the engagement ring. So, the 45-year-old filed a lawsuit to either get the ring back or the equivalent amount.

Let's hope that happens soon so he can get his money back, because it looks like diamonds are losing their luster in the market. A recent report by Bloomberg says prices are dropping on the precious gems as people are looking to express their individuality through alternative rings. Plus, there are ethical concerns about where diamonds come from.

He has a chance, too, since New York law states that "an engagement ring is considered a conditional gift, where the condition is that the marriage actually takes place. This means that if the marriage does not take place and the bachelor asks for the ring back, then the potential bride will most likely have to return the engagement ring to the bachelor."

America got it wrong with outrageous elimination on The Voice

The Voice can be a very frustrating show to watch, as the most impressive artists are frequently sent home far too early. This was unfortunately the case this evening, when the amazing Emily Keener failed to capture the fan votes needed to keep her around for another week.

Emily and Owen
Image: NBC

Sometimes, artists are voted off the show because they just don't sound good. But more often, the real problem is that their style doesn't appeal to enough of the show's viewers. This is the only viable explanation for why Keener was voted off, for she has consistently sounded awesome — more so than many of the singers who managed to make the show's top 11.

More: Pharrell needs to ease up on the Nebraska hate on The Voice

Keener's elimination was especially disappointing in light of last night's remarkable performance. She took on the beautiful song "Lilac Wine" and, wow, talk about impressive! The coaches were clearly pleased, as evidenced by their standing ovation. Pharrell was thankful that America had the chance to witness Keener's talent, which has blown him away from the beginning. Christina Aguilera also praised Keener, claiming that her performance was, up until that point, the best of the night.

Regardless of the coaches' feedback, Keener's elimination really shouldn't be all that surprising. After all, voters failed to send Keener to the top 12 when they had the chance. She was fortunate enough to have Pharrell come to the rescue, but this sadly was not an option this week.

More: The Voice prediction: Christina Aguilera will break the girl curse

After the sad news was revealed, several very disappointed viewers took to Twitter to share their shock and outrage.

Memorable Season 9 artist Mark Hood also joined the discussion. He encouraged Keener to continue to pursue her musical career and not worry too much about America messing up.

Keener's elimination is upsetting, to say the least. Yes, there were many great performances last night, but hers was among the best. It sucks to see the best artists eliminated so soon, but unfortunately, this is all part of watching The Voice.

If there's a silver lining, it's that Keener is talented enough to make it in the music industry on her own. The notoriety gained through her inclusion in the top 20 is only bound to help as she moves on with her career.

Dance Moms' Jessalynn Siwa's trash talk was out of line

Tonight on Dance Moms, the gals of the ALDC brought plenty of sass to the dance floor with three entertaining hip-hop routines. Or, at least, the ALDC's version of hip-hop, which includes way too many leg extensions, turns and aerials. If Abby Lee Miller and her choreographers insist on throwing tricks in these dances, they can at least try for a few kip-ups or headsprings, or anything other than the signature tricks from the studio's contemporary routines.

Choreography issues aside, it was really fun to see Maddie Ziegler, Brynn Rumfallo and JoJo Siwa showing some real attitude. Unfortunately, their sass paled in comparison to that of their mothers, who, instead of supporting all three girls, decided to go on attack mode. I've come to expect this from resident mean girl Jill Vertes, but I was very surprised to see JoJo's mother Jessalynn Siwa getting down and dirty as well. She's managed to sidestep at least some of the drama this season, so her behavior seemed at bit out of character.

More: 5 signs Maddie Ziegler has already checked out of Dance Moms

Speaking of character, that's what Siwa thinks Ashlee Allen's daughter Brynn Rumfallo lacks. According to Siwa, Rumfallo was so lacking in her own personality, she had to copy JoJo's. This is a completely ridiculous allegation. Sorry, Jessalynn, JoJo is not the first young girl to ever wear a bow in her hair. Rumfallo is a solid hip-hop dancer in her own right and she definitely does not have to copy the other ALDC girls in order to succeed. And so what if she typically wears a plain leotard and sticks her leg up in the air? It really doesn't matter what she wears to practice, as long as she shows up and works hard.

Could this be Siwa's true colors coming out? She certainly didn't seem like a sympathetic character tonight on Twitter. When a viewer expressed valid concern about her becoming the show's new mean girl, she responded by trashing the Twitter user's low follower count.

Jessalynn Siwa

Jessalynn Siwa

It's sad to see so-called role models setting a bad example for their daughters by making fun of young girls. Jessalynn Siwa needs to show a little more empathy and remember how upset she was when the ALDC girls made fun of her daughter.

What did you think of Jessalynn Siwa's behavior during tonight's episode of Dance Moms? And how about those hip-hop solos? Comment and share your opinion below.

Tina Fey reveals why she and Amy Poehler won’t do a series together

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are the envy of all best friends. They’re funny, smart, beautiful and (perhaps most importantly) only interested in supporting each other and other women. It’s hard not to wonder why the dynamic duo doesn’t work on every project together. Well, it turns out there’s a very specific reason, and it’s actually really great.

More: SNL 40 delivers an epic, all-female Weekend Update (VIDEO)

While Fey was at the Tribeca Film Festival, TV Guide asked her why she and Poehler only work on movies together and not an entire series. Fey answered honestly that the two just can’t. She said, "People sometimes used to say, 'Why don't you guys do a series together?' or whatever. And the funny thing is that I think we both know this to be true, it's because we're actually both alphas. So, it works in short spurts, but I don't know if it would make a real dynasty."

Fey unapologetically owning her powerful personality is the best thing to happen to me today. We all need more examples like that.

More: Tina Fey, Amy Poehler to host Golden Globes for 2 years

We also need more women explicitly saying they are going to work successfully on their own. One successful woman in any industry, but especially Hollywood, opens the door for any other talented woman to rise to the top. Working together is wonderful, but working separately and getting things done as an independent creator is equally important. Especially if working together would put such an amazing friendship in jeopardy.

More: 9 Tina Fey, Amy Poehler SNL skits to prepare you for the Golden Globes

As a TV fan, I am disappointed that that means no Leslie Knope/Liz Lemon collaboration, but as woman, I am thrilled that more shows will be run by women. That gives us all a better chance of having our voice represented accurately and not having to cram all of our opinions into one role.

What do you think? Should Tina and Amy try to work together on a series or keep it separate?

Chrissy Teigen’s finally found a way to make social media happy: Her daughter

Two historic things in the world of celebrity social media happened today. The first was Luna Simone, Chrissy Teigen and John Legend’s first daughter, made her first public appearance on Instagram. And the second is people were overwhelmingly positive toward Teigen.

The new model mommy posted a beautiful picture showing her and daughter “Lulu” enjoying an afternoon outside, alongside Teigen’s dog. Normally, it wouldn’t be big news that followers would show an outpouring of love and congratulations to a new mom, but with Teigen and the internet, you never really know. For whatever reason, she tends to bring out the worst in people.

It’s probably because she calls them out for being really unkind, terrible people — which is totally OK in my book.

More: Chrissy Teigen hilariously mocks Instagram's nudity policy

Before Luna made her arrival, people accused Teigen and Legend of everything from “playing God” to conducting a science experiment by selecting the embryo they wanted during IVF. They both had enough patience and class to brush all of that off their shoulders, but it’s still a wonder Teigen even has profiles at this point, let alone posts personal things to them. But I, for one, am glad she does. Because Luna Simone is adorable and I can’t wait to see which of her incredibly talented and good-looking parents she takes after.

More: Chrissy Teigen had her baby and the name is out of this world

Maybe now that she’s a mom, followers are afraid of having her yell at them or get them in trouble so they’ve decided to back off from their snide or just plain hateful comments. More likely, they’re excited about the incredibly cute baby and they’ll be back to complaining about something new tomorrow. In the meantime, I hope the brand new family is soaking up all the love from everyone. I also hope we get to see Luna's face soon!

Mariah Carey made guests dress like her at her birthday, because why not

Think of one pop star whose birthday party you would like to attend. Beyoncé's would probably take place in an underground cave made of diamonds and every celebrity would be there. Miley Cyrus would make lots of special brownies. Britney Spears probably just throws a backyard pool party with burgers and hot dogs. But Mariah Carey, the diva of all divas, just proved she truly knows how to celebrate her big day.

She just made all of her friends — and some of her employees — attend a Mariah Carey-themed soiree in her honor. Does it get better than that?

According to Us Weekly, the party took place in Lake Como, Italy, in between stops on her European tour. Carey hosted in an Airbnb dressed as her alter ego Bianca, aka Carey in a black wig.

"About 40 to 50 people — people from her touring crew, friends — dressed up in their favorite Mariah looks; looks inspired by her songs or videos, with Mariah hair, poses and her signature style," says Us Weekly. The best part? The whole thing was captured for Carey's upcoming reality series Mariah's World, so we'll get to watch the whole thing soon on E!

This second-best part is that this has inspired two themed party ideas: making people dress up as Mariah Carey and making them dress up as any random birthday girl (me, come my next birthday.) Thank you, Mariah Carey.
