Schoolgirls campaign to end sexual harassment at gigs

More: Sexual harassment laws need to be revised to include online harassment

Absolutely not, say five teenage girls who have joined forces to start a campaign, Girls Against, to end sexual harassment at gigs, concerts and festivals.

Hannah, 17, Anna, 16, Anni, 17, Ava, 16, and Bea, 17 describe themselves as "five intersectional feminists fighting against sexual assault at gigs" and say they are "here for all genders." They started the campaign in 2015 after Hannah experienced sexual harassment at a Peace gig in Glasgow.

"It's such a unique environment. There's no other situation where it's dark, loud, and you're packed into such a tight space with hundreds of strangers," said Hannah. "Perpetrators really feel like they can get away with it because it's not talked about and they can defend themselves by saying it was an accident."

Hannah found that confiding in a stranger gave her the courage to speak more openly about her experience and the girls hope that Girls Against is a safe space for other victims to speak out and work through their recovery.

Peace shared Hannah's story on social media, asking their fans not to attend their gigs if they planned to engage in that sort of behaviour. This encouraged others to come forward with their own experiences.

More: My experience with sexual harassment inspired me to create Femsplain

Girls Against now has 11.4k followers on Twitter. "It kind of took off very quickly so we've been really lucky as our reception has been really great," Hannah told SheKnows. "A lot of women have been so glad that we've started up as they've had experiences in the past and no one's spoken about it. A lot of men have been grateful as well as they didn't really think it went on and they've also had experiences but have had no one fighting for them either."

If you have experienced unwanted sexual contact at a gig or festival, Hannah says that however you choose to deal with it, whether by confiding in friends or working through it on your own, the most important thing to remember is that "it is never and was not your fault."

As well as offering support to those who have been sexually assaulted at gigs, Girls Against is working to increase awareness by establishing "a discussion between fans, bands, promoters, venues, security companies and any other relevant parties."

"We want to see sexual assault and harassment training mandatory," said Hannah. "The venue where I was assaulted have held training sessions for their staff and put up posters which is really encouraging."

As support for the campaign grows more reps are needed, both in the U.K. and around the world. You can sign up to be a Girls Against rep on the girls' website (closing date March 18, 2016).

Rise of antidepressant use among children is 'a concern' says WHO

0

More: Twitter is flooded with messages of hope on Self-Harm Awareness Day

This came despite a warning in 2004 that some of the drugs could lead to suicidal behaviour, which led to an initial fall in prescriptions.

The research, Trends and patterns of antidepressant use in children and adolescents from five western countries, 2005–2012, which is published in the journal European Neuropsychopharmacology, also showed rises in Denmark (60 percent), Germany (49 percent), the U.S. (26 percent) and the Netherlands (17 percent) during the same period, reported the BBC.

"Antidepressant use amongst young people is and has been a matter of concern because of two reasons," said World Health Organization (WHO) director of mental health Dr. Shekhar Saxena. "One, are more people being prescribed antidepressants without sufficient reason? And second, can antidepressants do any major harm?"

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence guidelines say antidepressants should not be used to treat mild depression in children.

Even when they are used to treat a child with moderate to severe depression this should only take place in combination with a concurrent psychological therapy.

More: U.K. schools can't cope with children's mental health issues

Dr. Maureen Baker, chairwoman of the Royal College of GPs, told The Independent that antidepressants would rarely be the first treatment option for children and young people, "but with such long waits for patients to see a specialist or to get a psychological therapy referral, drug therapy is sometimes seen as the only option for GPs to best support patients, who may be in extreme distress, and their family."

"We have been recommending for some time that in future, as part of an enhanced four-year training programme, all GP trainees should receive specialist-led training in mental health and child health," she said. "These measures truly would help to ensure that our young patients with mental health conditions receive the most appropriate treatment, and the same level of care as those with physical health problems, wherever in the country they live."

The answer is clear: more money needs to be invested in mental health. Young people don't have access to the talking therapies that could help get to the root cause of their depression so medication is the only alternative while they wait weeks (more likely months) to see a qualified mental health professional.

Hopefully the latest research will give countries the jolt they need to give the mental health of their young people the attention — and investment — it needs.

Teen Mom 2 promo has a glaring typo and fans definitely noticed (PHOTO)

More: Jenelle Evans & Chelsea Houska's Twitter feud spirals out of control

MTV made a big goof in the Season 7 promo video for Teen Mom 2: It misspelled the name of one of the show's stars.

Kailyn Lowry's fans have been quick to point out the mistake: The promo, in announcing her return, spells her name "Kaiylin." Come on, MTV. That's not even that close.

Lowry herself seems to have noticed the mix-up; she's retweeted a few of her fans who pointed it out.

This is the second recent time Lowry has apparently been dissed by the producers of her MTV reality show. Last month, according to The Celebrity Cafe, she angrily tweeted about being left out of the loop about the new season's March 21 premiere date.

"LOVE when I’m a part of something and people don’t tell you big dates/important things!" she reportedly wrote at the time. "So professional."

Regardless of the issues Lowry seems to be having with MTV, she looks like she's set for a dramatic new season. Season 7 reportedly will cover her heartbreaking miscarriage, as well as her husband Javi Marroquin's Air Force deployment.

Survivor's Caleb Reynolds reveals he might not be done with the show

SheKnows: Shortly after your evacuation aired, you streamed a live video on your Facebook page telling fans you will return for another season of Survivor. Is this true? Will you in fact be coming back to play again?

Caleb Reynolds: It has been talked about before. A lot of people have been asking me if I will. That's something I already said yes to. If I get that opportunity — which you never know if I will or not — but if I do, I've already said yes to it. Whether it be an all-star or a second chance, I told them that my bags would be packed. Beast mode is ready for round two.

SK: Walk us through what happened in the challenge that resulted in your intense medical evacuation.

CR: It got to the point where we dug under the logs and got everyone under those to the big circle that we had to dig deep into the sand and find the bags. Once we found the bags, everything was good. I was feeling good. The tribe was still moving and constant. We're all still in a good condition and state of mind. Obviously, I get to the point where I feel myself not sweating anymore. I looked past it. I didn't think of it being anything big. I was like, OK, I'm not sweating, so I'm on the verge of dehydrating. Of course, we just keep going. We get up to the Skee-Ball thing and we just roll a few. I made the first three and I let someone else have a turn so I could take a breather. We had six altogether, but nobody could get the last one in. With me breathing hard and realizing that my body just about had enough, I told Nick to let me go one more time. Three rolls later, I finally made the last ball. I fell to my knees and gave this expression like "thank God this is over" type of thing. I fell to my back, and I just got this real dizzy feeling. My eyes started to get a blotch. When I would blink, they were blurry. I had no clue what it was. I thought maybe I needed some shade where it was a little bit cooler. I walked over to where the shade was and I just collapsed. From that point on, I was in and out. From the IV, the oxygen mask, all the ice and vest being put on me, I don't really remember. I woke up once during it all that I can remember, and Jeff was telling me I was being evacuated. I told him no. I shook my head no. He just continued to say, "I'm sorry, but it's not your choice anymore. The doctors are not allowing you to continue. You're in bad shape." I was out again and then onto the helicopter I went.

SK: Were you feeling fine that morning?

CR: Oh yeah. I felt good. My body felt fine. It was more just an exhausted [feeling]. You go to bed hungry, you wake up hungry. You go to bed on bamboo, you wake up on bamboo. Sometimes you wake up on the ground. It's rough. It's not memory foam, so you just have a rough time sleeping all night. You're getting bit by bugs, by centipedes that you never knew existed. You just don't sleep good. On top of it, you have no energy, no food, and every time you take a sip of water, it's hot because you just got done boiling it. You just wake up with no energy, and you're just exhausted. Going into the challenge, I knew I had no energy. None of us had energy. We were all exhausted. I went into it normal. I felt good. I felt like it was a normal challenge. Even the first challenges I didn't have any energy. I didn't feel like I was fatigued in any way. I didn't feel like my body was under this heat attack.

Image: CBS

SK: A lot of people have been questioning the safety of holding a challenge like that when the heat was clearly so intense. Do you think it may have been too much?

CR: I'm gonna partially agree. I would say that when it reaches temperatures around 120 degrees, I think at that point, me personally, with heat being a big issue when you're pushing your body through this type of challenge, knowing it takes over an hour and a half to finish it, you automatically assume that maybe they could postpone it. Either do it early in the morning or do it later in the evening when the sun isn't the hottest. We were out there in the hottest time of the day. The people that do these challenges before we go do them, it's just different for them than it is for us. I feel like they kind of know where everything is. They run through these challenges before we go do them to make sure that it all works. One of the interviewers said, "Well, you know, we had our people do this challenge, and it was fine. Nobody was exhausted. It went through smooth." When we got there, everyone was passing out. You got to remember everyone you have doing these challenges, they ate food all night. They ate all morning. On top of it, they've had unlimited drinks of water. They're energized. They're full of fuel. It's not going to be easy to just let them hit heat exhaustion within an hour because they're full of fuel. I think I agree saying that it was a little overboard doing it when it was that hot. Maybe we could've just postponed it to where it wasn't literally the hottest time of day. It could be very dangerous. People die from heat strokes and heat exhaustion. Heat is something to not play with, and possibly they could've changed the time of the challenge.

SK: So are you mad about the way the challenge was handled?

CR: No. Not at all. I have no regrets. I'm not upset. I believe that I went out the best way that I could. I would have rather not got voted out. I'm not a quitter. At that point in the game, I went out the only way I was able to go out. I'm not mad. I don't have any remorse. I'm not upset at anyone. I gave it my all. It's not their fault that happened to me, because I could've sat down and took some breathers just like everyone else. I could've backed away from my energy level, set back and let my body chill. But I didn't. I did it all myself. I pushed myself over my limit. I drew a line in the sand with my toes, and I crossed it. I drew another one and I crossed that one, too. I ended up pushing myself a lot further than my body would allow it to go.

Caleb Reynolds ready for challenge on Survivor: Kaoh Rong
Image: CBS

SK: The episode was filmed nearly a full year ago. What was it like reliving that moment, watching it on TV all these months later?

CR: When it all started happening, I was like, "Here we go. This is what I went through last year." It wasn't really much. Then I started to see Tai, and I started to see Julia and everyone on my tribe get really emotional. Then I see my mom sitting next to me, she starts to get emotional and crying. I look over at my fiancée, and her eyes are tearing up. I had my family messaging me saying, "Gosh, this is so hard to watch." They were upset they couldn't even help me. It was emotional. For me, it was more watching everyone else, and their emotion is what got me emotional. If I was awake during all of it and hating life, it would have been much different to know this sucks and I'm hurting right now. I wasn't, though. I was passed out. I don't remember any of it. It was an emotional time because that's me. That's like me to go out that way. I have no limits to myself. Sometimes it's good to have a limit. In a way, if I would have put myself on a limit, maybe we would've lost and one of us would have went home. That's what I think about when I go to put myself on a limit. Like, hey, your body is starting to overheat and you need to slow down. I don't think that way. I think, give it all you've got until you're finished. Then you can take a break. The emotional side was watching everyone else [get] emotional, and watching everyone else hurting because of what I went through. I didn't know my tribe felt some of those things about me. Nick said he thought I was invincible. It seems they thought I was like some superhero that was untouchable. That was a very humbling moment for me, because it proved that I'm not that guy they thought I was. The whole experience, just watching everyone else's emotion, is what was emotional for me. They put the game aside and really cared about my well-being. They cared about me as a person enough to sob and cry over me being hurt and injured in that kind of way.

Teen Mom's Jenelle Evans is gunning for Nathan Griffith's disability pay

Evans is fighting for custody of their son Kaiser, and she also wants Griffith to pay her a pretty penny in child support, because she believes he gets a hefty disability check from the military.

"Jenelle is putting the child support on Nathan," a source told Radar Online.

"She thinks he owes her something," the source said. "He was getting over $3,000 a month in 2014. It's called ‘compensation' for being ‘disabled' as a result if [sic] his deployment."

The source explained that Griffith gets compensated each month for severe post-traumatic stress disorder and a brain injury that is considered disabling.

But Evans is not just going for child support moving forward — she wants back pay, too.

"Jenelle doesn't know how much she will get," the source said. "It depends on how much they make him pay per month and then it will all be added up."

The two have struggled with custody issues for some time, and Griffith tweeted his frustration about getting time with his son last month.

While the source says the pair's custody case date is "at the end of this month," Evans will have to wait a bit longer for the money convo.

"The child support court case is in April for Jenelle and Nathan," the source said.

Cat Store Café in Hong Kong will fulfill all your feline fantasies

The cat café, which is simply called Cat Store Café, is located in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong. Catster writer Louise Hung experienced this place firsthand, and while she says it was in a "nondescript hallway in a nondescript building," the inside was quite spectacular.

Behold all the glory of Cat Store Café, ranging from every piece of cat merchandise you could ever imagine to cat-themed snacks and coffee. But what can you expect inside? According to Hung, the main part of the cafe contains several cat beds, a bakery display case and "tidy tables." She also describes the spot as having the most "café" vibe of all the Asian cat cafés she's visited.

The store has an unofficial Facebook page where many cat-loving visitors have shared their experiences with their furry friends as well as the café's drinks and baked goods, including possibly the most delicious cat foam cappuccino we've ever seen.

Your secret sex fantasy is probably more common than you think

0
0

There's a wide spectrum of sexual fantasies out there that people have explored, but a few are much more common than others. Researchers in Canada decided to find out exactly what those few were, specifically among the people of Quebec.

More: New video helps take the shame out of extreme sex fantasies (WATCH)

The researchers asked 1,040 men and women about their sexual interests and fantasies and whether or not they actually acted on them. What they discovered was that a large majority (about 46 percent) of men and women are most into the idea of voyeurism, or watching other people have sex. Of those 46 percent, 35 percent said they've tried it.

I decided to see if this voyeurism fantasy trend existed in the States as well. I casually polled some friends and acquaintances and found that voyeurism was definitely interesting, but not the most fantasy-worthy.

Dalia, a writer from Chicago, said, "I like being made to do things. Not sure if that's quite S and M, but if he takes control and tells me to get on my stomach and spread my legs, it makes me crazy."

Lindsay, a lawyer from Los Angeles, said, "My fantasies are about someone I find attractive having their way with me, and though I desire them, it's not my choice to have sex with them. Like I'm under their power."

Chris, an animator from New York, liked the idea of being watched rather than doing the watching: "Sometimes I'll ask a lady I'm with to just watch me masturbate. No sex, no touching. Just her eyes on me is enough to get me off."

More: 12 unusual "safe" words people actually use in the bedroom

And finally, Kevin from Brooklyn liked a combination of the above. "The hottest thing is being told I can't do stuff, like I can't touch her or myself, or turn around," he said. "It's the best when I'm with a girl who's in control and we're doing everything in front of a window."

Now, that stuff''s not so crazy, right? And it's actually rather common for women to want their guys to dominate them. In fact, a 2014 study conducted by the University of Montreal found that the most popular fantasies of the 1,500 people they polled weren't all that weird, either. Here were the top 10 for women: feeling romantic emotions during sex, being in a specific atmosphere/location during sex, romantic locations, unusual locations, oral sex, giving fellatio, being masturbated by their partner, masturbating for their partner, sex with someone who's not their spouse and being dominated.

More: 7 ways to fight marriage fatigue

Sexual fantasies do not have to involve any high-tech toys or elaborate role-playing games to be super fun and exciting. Most of the time, they're just simple little adjustments that work to totally change up the dynamic in the bedroom (or wherever your kinky self likes to have sex).

Your kinky desires are totally normal, says study

0

More: The Spit Magazine founders give us a lesson in feminist porn

Kinky people haven't historically had it easy. Until 2010, the American Psychiatric Association listed fetishism, BDSM and transvestic fetishism (a fetish involving cross-dressing) as pathologies. And the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders still lists most kinky sexual interests as paraphilic, or abnormal.

But guess what! Being into kink isn't unusual at all, according to the latest research, and it's high time we accepted it as normal and healthy. A study of 1,040 people from Quebec found that nearly half of them had sexual tastes that we consider outside of the norm.

"The main goal of the study was to determine normal sexual desires and experiences in a representative sample of the general population," explains study author Christian Joyal in a press release.

More: Four kinky handcuff sex positions for your bedroom bucket list

The researchers found that 45.6 per cent of respondents said they were into in at least one kind of sexual activity that's considered anomalous, while 33 per cent of people had actually experienced these fantasies IRL.

"These facts suggest that we need to know what normal sexual practices are before we label a legal sexual interest as anomalous," explains Joyal. "Some paraphilic interests are more common than people might think, not only in terms of fantasies but also in terms of desire and behavior."

So what were the most common kinky fetishes? Most people admitted they were into voyeurism (35 per cent), while 26 per cent of people said they were into fetishism. Another 26 per cent fantasized about frotteurism (which entails rubbing an erect penis on a non-consenting person's body, so I really hope this remains just a fantasy) and 19 per cent expressed interest in masochism.

While men were more likely to self-report an interest in these so-called paraphilic behaviors than women, untraditional sexual tastes were still present in women, especially when it came to fantasizing about sexual submission. "In fact, women who report an interest in sexual submission have more varied sexual interests and report greater satisfaction with their sex lives. Sexual submission is therefore not an abnormal interest," explains Joyal.

The takeaway here? Whatever your fantasy, you probably shouldn't feel like a weirdo — and as long as you engage in safe, consensual sex, there's no reason to feel ashamed of spicing things up in the bedroom.

Sophie Grégoire-Trudeau wears Canadian designers on her Washington visit

More: Has Trudeau lived up to his promise to be a feminist PM?

Some Canadians called out the PM's wife for wearing a stunning embroidered blue and gold Oscar de la Renta dress in a Vogue photoshoot with her husband after his election into office, shaming her for not using the opportunity to draw attention to Canadian designers.

Canada's "First Lady" has used her newfound status as a style icon (she's drawn favorable comparisons to Kate Middleton, Michelle Obama, Jackie Kennedy and even her husband's mother) to do just that. On her recent trip to Washington Grégoire-Trudeau wore a selection of outfits from Canadian designers with diverse backgrounds and kept things low-key by pairing her looks with affordable Canadian accessories.

Grégoire-Trudeau was turning heads from the moment she stepped off the plane at Andrews Air Force Base, wearing a pantsuit by the Montreal-based Vietnamese-Canadian designer DUY.

Grégoire-Trudeau sported Canadian accessories as she deplaned. The purple "Mini Milck" clutch she carried from Ela Handbags is already sold out, but you can buy Ela's mini clutches in other colours (prices are in the $300 range). And she strutted off the plane in beige Aldo pumps ($100).

For the White House visit, Grégoire-Trudeau shared some laughs with Michelle Obama in a red and fuchsia dress with an asymmetrical floral pattern by Romanian-born designer Lucian Matis. Grégoire-Trudeau's dress was featured in the Toronto-based designer's Spring/Summer 2016 collection, which Fashion magazine named "Best Collection" at its Spring 2016 Awards.

She accessorized her dress with hot pink "Amelia" heels by Canadian designer Zvelle ($285) with pink-on-pink colour blocking and a bright "Warwick" clutch by Aldo ($50) with scalloped detailing.

Grégoire-Trudeau finished the look with Canadian designer Dean Davidson's "Sceptre Drop Earrings," featuring sparkly pavé gemstones ($195).

She was also spotted hanging out with the Weeknd while wearing a floral-printed jacket from Canadian designer Ellie Mae's Spring/Summer 2016 collection. The Toronto-based designer has created a line of luxurious jackets that fuse striking vintage-inspired patterns and a distinct street-style inspiration.

So, what can we glean from the style choices of Canada's new fashion icon? Grégoire-Trudeau isn't afraid to wear bold, contrasting colours and big, lush floral patterns, but she keeps her look classy by going for structured jackets and sleek lines. And her choice of accessories — all under $400 — likely represent a conscious attempt to convey a very clear message to Canadians that she's a woman of the people.

What do you think about Grégoire-Trudeau's fashion choices in Washington? Is she a Canadian style icon? Leave your thoughts in the comments.

Why Bash leaving Reign will be horrible for the series

More: Reign brings the pain: 10 characters next on the chopping block in Season 3

Coombs is set to play Count Paris, the man who was supposed to marry Juliet before meeting and falling for Romeo. It also seems that Coombs will channel his evil side, because Paris is said to be Still Star-Crossed's main villain.

Per THR, Reign Season 3 will be Coombs' last, meaning Bash fans had better get their tissues ready. That said, the 32-year-old actor took to Twitter to somewhat clear up any confusion for Reign fans. He tweeted, "Thank you for all the kind words. Tough to comment on specifics, but I don't think we've seen the last of Bash on #Reign."

Torrance Coombs

Torrance Coombs

Obviously, that doesn't really clear up much, but it looks like Season 3 might not be the final time viewers will see Bash. Either way, it will still be sad to see him go, because Bash has been part of the series since Season 1. With that, let's discuss why Bash leaving Reign will be horrible for the series.

1. Fans might stop watching without both Bash and Francis

Bash Reign

Bash Reign

Bash Reign #2

Bash Reign #2

Really, how much can fans take? Even though the series warned fans Toby Regbo's character would die in Season 3, that didn't make it less heartbreaking. Bash leaving at the end of Season 3, no matter if his story is left open-ended or if he dies, is not going to make saying goodbye any easier. It's bad enough without Francis, but now fans will have to live without Bash? Some fans might not even tune in, which definitely spells trouble.

2. Mary and Bash's chances of getting together are now doomed

Bash and Mary

Bash and Mary

Bash and Mary #2

Bash and Mary #2

Remember that time there was a love triangle between Francis, Mary and Bash? That fizzled out more quickly than I expected. Don't get me wrong, I will forever be on Team Frary, but now that Francis is gone, Mary will probably end up with someone else. Why can't that be Bash? Yeah, it might be strange, since Francis was his half-brother. No one will ever live up to Francis, but Bash could easily fill his shoes. However, now that might never happen.

3. It means Bash never got his time to shine

Bash story lines

Despite Bash spending the majority of his time surrounded by Pagan, mythological and religious elements, he never really got his time to shine. Yes, he's been a big part of the series, but in a minor way. I understand the story lines and characters revolve around Mary, but it would've been nice to see Bash become an even bigger part of the series in a different way than his time spent as the King's deputy.

4. No more Bash smiles

Survivor's Alecia Holden blasts Kyle Jason's 'rude' attitude toward women

0
0

SheKnows: A lot of viewers have been saying you were targeted by nothing more than two bullies. Do you agree that Jason and Scot are bullies?

Alecia Holden: Nothing was said to my face. It was said behind my back and in the interviews. The fourth episode is the first time they actually started saying things to my face. That is when I stand up for myself. I go straight to Scot to address the situation. I don't care how big you are; I wasn't intimidated by those guys whatsoever. A lot of the time it wasn't said to my face. Had it been said to my face, there would have been a lot more confrontations because I do stand up for myself. Like Jeff [Probst] said, I really don't take lip from anyone. Most of the time they were talking bad about me was all behind my back. They were rude. If you have two daughters [like Jason] and you're gonna go on there and act like that toward women, that's just gonna portray you in a bad light to the public. So that's on them.

Scot Pollard, Kyle Jason and Alecia Holden work at Brawn tribe on Survivor: Kaoh Rong
Image: CBS

SK: So you really didn't realize how bad they were talking about you until you watched the show?

AH: Exactly. They did try and alienate me and stereotype me from day one. I wasn't as big as them. Even Jason said, "Let's get Alecia out," back on day one. They stereotyped me from the beginning and I don't think they were ever wanting to give me a chance in the game with them.

SK: Jason has become a target on Twitter with many people spewing anger in his direction for the way he's been acting on the show. Do you think he deserves the negative reaction from viewers?

AH: I 100 percent think the negativity toward Jason is deserved. He has no respect in the way that he speaks to women and girls. It's just a terrible example, especially having two young daughters who have to grow up and see the way their dad acted. That is not a role model whatsoever. I definitely do think that Jason is not a good role model. He's a very negative person.

More: Survivor viewers turn against Kyle Jason after rough Immunity Idol hunt

SK: What exactly happened in the scuffle between you and Jason when searching for the hidden Immunity Idol? Was there something we didn't see?

AH: I definitely did make the mistake by telling Cydney. In the moment I just wasn't thinking. Cydney told Jason; she pretty much ratted on me. Then, I see Jason take off running. When I get out of the water, Cydney says, "Alecia, go! He's going to get the Idol! Go! Go! Go!" She was kind of trying to play both cards. When she says that — this wasn't shown — I run up where Cydney and me were before. Me and Jason are both digging as much as we can. Jason finds the clue for the Idol. He and Scot are in the corner talking while I am over at the tree tying to machete down the tree that has the key box on it. Then I hear the producer, "You can't cut down that tree!" Then, I decided to climb the tree like Tarzan. I'm halfway up the tree when it starts rocking back and forth. I had to get down from the tree. Then Scot was trying to push the key out of the key box. When he does that, Jason throws me to the ground. I had cuts on my legs from the rocks. Once again, no respect for women. He knew what he was doing. He intentionally, as hard as he could, shoulder slammed me into the ground. You couldn't see it as much on the show, but I still have a scar on my leg from it. Jason is just ruthless and has no respect at all for anyone. It's not a good way to be.

Image: CBS

SK: In your opinion, is Scot or Jason worse?

AH: I would definitely say that Jason is worse. They didn't play any of my interviews in the beginning when I was talking about Jason. I feel like a lot of my opinions were cut short. They didn't show me standing up for myself as much as they should have. In the first episode, we're on the boat and we're grabbing all the items we can. Cydney ran out of space so she started shoving fruit down her pants. We get back to the camp and the guys were alienating me. Cydney got the rotten fruit, threw it on the ground and was like, "Don't eat that. That was down my pants in the challenge." What do I do? I go and feed it to Scot and Jason. Why that wasn't shown, I don't know. I definitely stood my ground more than what was portrayed. A lot of the time, the things weren't said to my face. Scot says, "You're a cheerleader. That's all you're good at." Really? Half your NBA career you were on the bench cheering your team on, so he must know all about being a cheerleader. He was like the dinosaur of the tribe. He was just the old one who didn't do much around camp. He wanted to be with strong people. He said I was the weak one. Well, if you don't have clean water and you don't have food, you're weak. Your body wears down. Scot tried to do the fire for 15 minutes and said, "I quit," before sitting in the shelter for five hours snoring. I was out there for five hours, but it's because we had a rain storm the night before. Before the show, I could make fire in 15 minutes. We had a rain storm. Everything was wet. Once I did get the fire, we did have water and that brought strength to our tribe. For all the stuff they said about me, I don't feel like they really contributed around camp. They didn't want to go fishing. Other tribes had fish. We had no fish. I asked them every day to go fishing. They didn't want to go fishing. They wanted to stay under the shelter and sleep all day. Really? It's pathetic, honestly.

SK: After your tribe lost Immunity yet again, Jason suggested they hold an impromptu Tribal Council to vote you off immediately right there on the beach. You didn't agree to that idea, forcing them to have a formal elimination. So what happened within those hours from the end of the challenge until Tribal Council actually started?

AH: I tried to get Cydney to vote against them. It didn't work. I tried to find an Immunity Idol thinking there would be some type of twist. Jason was just having outbursts. He was being crazy. He couldn't get the fire to work. I went up and was like, "Do you want me to help you?" He was like, "No!" He throws the flint. He throws the coconut. He gets mad and throws it as hard as he can and storms off. He was frustrated because he couldn't get fire. The reason we lost the fire in the first place is because Scot and Jason agreed to get up during the night and maintain it. They didn't. They overslept. We go into this challenge with no clean water once again. No food. Between the first time they got fire, they never got another fire going until the time I left. It was rough out there. I was throwing up from dehydration before the Reward challenge.

Image: CBS

SK: Do you see yourself ever mending fences with Jason and Scot? Can you see yourself being friends with them outside of the game?

AH: Absolutely not. It's a game. I understand that people lie, people are shady and people are mean. But the respect level they have, I think that goes outside the game and projects how they are as people and how they treat people in their everyday life. Those are not people that I want to ever associate with. They are not the person they want their daughter to hang out with. They need to take a look in the mirror with that one.

SK: Have you heard from either of them since the show started?

AH: No.

SK: When I give you a name, I want you to tell me the first thing that comes to your mind. Let's start with Jason.

AH: All talk.

SK: Scot.

AH: Old dinosaur.

SK: Alecia.

AH: Never quits.

SK: It turns out you missed a tribal swap by just a hair, so how disappointing is it to know your fate in the game could have changed drastically had you made it through one more elimination?

AH: It was heartbreaking. I think they threw the challenge. What wasn't shown is when I was on the puzzle and I'm saying, "Switch. Switch." Jeff said, "Alecia is asking for a switch and getting no love from her tribemates once again." They were standing there laughing at me. I might not have been a physical threat, but I'm a social threat. They knew the swap was coming. They knew I was gonna put a target on their back. They knew I was going to tell about the Immunity Idol. I'm on the puzzle, they won't help me and they're laughing. I think they threw the challenge to get me out because I'm a social threat. I was going to put a target on their backs and they knew that.

Image: CBS

SK: Do you think being placed on the Brawn tribe was the right designation for you?

AH: I did feel like I belonged on the Brawn tribe. Strength isn't always just physical. People look at me like why is she on the Brawn tribe? With everything we were going through, I never cried. I never felt bad for myself. I didn't give up at all in the game. I think if I did make a swap or merge, I would have been a very big threat in the game. I would have continued to push and not give up.

SK: If Jason and Scot apologize to you at the finale, will you accept it?

AH: I highly doubt they would do that. I will accept the apology if I would never have to associate with them. I would never try to be cool with them. I would accept their apologies, but I would never try to hang out with them.

SK: What is it like from your perspective being there as Caleb was medically evacuated?

AH: So much was going on at once. It was just crazy how many people were going down at one time. The challenge was just so hard. I thought I was digging my grave and I was gonna die in the hole I was digging. It shows fans this is real. This show is real. It's not staged. This is real stuff going on and it's not something that most people can do.

SK: How did you get on Survivor?

AH: I applied for it and they contacted me within 24 hours. They were like, "So, you must really like the show." I was like, "I know this is gonna hurt my chances. I'm not gonna lie to you. I've only seen like maybe an episode or two, but I thought it's something I really wanted to do. It looks like a challenge." They kind of laughed at me and made me watch a season. They ended up picking me. I wasn't a superfan or anything.

Hardin, who is walking behind Hadid and looking down in the video, supposedly tried to trip Hadid by stepping on her heel before fellow model Mariacarla Boscono jumped to her defense and pushed Hardin to stop her.

According to fans, Boscono appears to be saying, "No," as she pushes Hardin and rolls her eyes. As the ladies walk off camera, Boscono is heard saying, "Don't do it." None of the three models have commented on the incident, so it's still unclear exactly what happened.

If Hardin was trying to trip Hadid, the 19-year-old sister of Gigi Hadid wouldn't be the first model to face runway bullying. Kendall Jenner was also reportedly bullied by fellow models at New York Fashion Week and the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show.

Swearing replaces zen meditation at Calgary yoga studio

The Canadian city is home to Rage Yoga, a studio that is "a practice involving stretching, positional exercise and bad humor, with the goal of attaining good health and to become zen as f***."

More: Awesome trainer works out with wine bottles, makes fitness look fun (VIDEO)

And you won't find good lighting and essential oils there, either; Rage Yoga classes are held inside a basement pub with curtains sectioning off the practice area from the rest of the bar. The cost of each class — $12 for a drop-in — comes with tickets good for beer at the bar… the perfect way to replenish fluids after an expletive-fueled yoga session.

Rage Yoga owner Lindsay Istace started the studio after feeling "really out of place" at traditional yoga studios.

"Before I found my practice I was a stress case all the time!" she writes on the website. "My mind was constantly running a mile a minute and I couldn't slow down. I had zero confidence, rage issues and, on top of it all, the muscle mass of a kitchen sponge."

More: Londoners are going crazy for Hotpod yoga

Her yoga classes — based on the Vinyasa flow — gave her "a strong body-mind connection and a new appreciation for my body," she adds. "I learned how to slow my mind, feel good in my body and built some decent pipes while I was at it."

But is swearing up a storm really going to help? You bet — just think how much better you feel after you let out a loud cuss word (or at least a loud "darn!") when something is upsetting. It's an instant mood booster. Plus, science has shown that swearing actually ups your pain tolerance.

"It changed my life and I want to share that gift with you," Istace writes of her classes. She's also planning to launch in-demand yoga classes in April for those who don't live in Calgary.

"On and off the mat, Rage Yoga is an attitude," she adds. "Centered, confident and giving zero f***s."

Royal Pains canceled: 8 hopes for Hank, Evan and Divya before the show ends

More: Grey's Anatomy: Why I don't mind Meredith's latest near-death experience

The network also revealed where Season 8 will find Hank and Evan. It seems Hank will be facing if he is as happy personally as he is professionally, while Evan and Paige will be looking into what family means to them. Also, for those hoping for the return of Raj, General Collins and even Jill (yes, Jill!), you're in luck, because they will also make appearances. Oh, how can I forget to mention that one episode was shot in Hong Kong and there will be a musical number with Christine Ebersole and Cloris Leachman.

It sure sounds like a pretty busy season, but here's what I'm hoping to see during Royal Pains' final run.

Hank and Jill
Image: Tumblr

1. A Hank and Jill reunion

It's about time, right? These two are meant to be, so they had better reunite  — permanently. Maybe the reason Hank hasn't been fulfilled personally and romantically is because he's not with the right person, aka Jill.

2. A family for Evan and Paige

Evan and Paige almost adopted in Season 7, but that fell through. It's clear they are ready, able and willing to start a family. Here's hoping they become the parents they dream to be. Plus, who doesn't want to see Evan as a dad? Most. Fun. Dad. Ever.

3. A wedding for Divya and Raj

At the end of Season 7, Divya and Raj finally got engaged. Can you believe it took seven seasons, a broken arranged marriage and a lot of drama in between for these two to realize they actually want to be together? They definitely deserve a magnificent wedding and marriage.

4. A successful medical career for Divya

For seven seasons, Divya has been a very successful physician's assistant. That said, in Season 7, she came to the realization she wanted to extend her medical knowledge by becoming a doctor. If anyone deserves to be called Dr. Katdare, it's Divya.

5. An even more promising HankMed future

There's no doubt HankMed has grown exponentially since the beginning of the series, so let's hope Hank, Evan and Divya keep up the good work. I don't know what the Hamptons would do without such a fantastic concierge medical business.

6. A Lawson family reunion

You can't have a final season without at least one scene or episode featuring Hank, Evan and their father, Eddie (played by Henry Winkler). Also, let's hope that bond between Evan and Hank remains as tight as ever. Not only have they become even closer brothers since Season 1, but they have even become best friends.

7. A lasting friendship for Divya and Jeremiah

Divya and Jeremiah's friendship is something I've adored ever since Ben Shenkman came onto Royal Pains. They've established an everlasting bond that will hopefully remain intact after Divya and Raj get married. Knowing Divya, she most definitely will keep Jeremiah in her life and vice versa.

Royal Pains

8. A happy ending overall

Whenever a series ends, don't you just want a happy ending? Well, at least for a dramedy like Royal Pains. Hank, Evan and Divya have definitely had their ups and downs, so if anyone deserves a lot of happiness, it's these three.

Those are just a few of my hopes and dreams for the final season. Now, I'll just have to try and wait patiently until Royal Pains returns for its final season on Wednesday, May 18 at 10/9c on USA.

Lane Bryant commercial featuring Ashley Graham banned for being 'too sexy'

0
0

Lane Bryant, though, has known this for years and has built its entire brand around providing fashion-forward clothes for plus-sized women long before body acceptance was a thing.

More: Model makes history by being the first bearded woman on the runway

The company's newest campaign — This Body — is an ode to everything a woman's body can do and is centered around a new commercial featuring SI cover girl Ashley Graham and other diverse models like Tara Lynn, Denise Bidot, Georgia Pratt and Precious Lee. The 30-second spot shows the women explaining what "this body" can do — Graham's is “made for being bold, powerful and sexy,” while new mom Lynn is shown breastfeeding and says hers is "made for love."

The commercial is badass and unapologetically in your face, which has proved to be too much for some networks. According to TMZ, several networks have opted out of airing the ad because it shows too much skin.

"As part of the normal advertising standards process, we reviewed a rough cut of the ad and asked for minor edits to comply with broadcast indecency guidelines," a rep for NBC told the New York Daily News. "The ad was not rejected and we welcome the updated creative."

More: Target Australia applauded for their new campaign featuring all body shapes

This isn't the first time a Lane Bryant ad has been banned. Another spot featuring Graham was rejected for similar reasons. Still, the outright rejection of the ad doesn't pass the smell test, according to the company.

"I don’t think these models are any more nude than any other models we’ve seen on TV," a rep told the Daily News. "This was not a hard-hitting conversation about body positivity. This was a playful way to engage our women and all women."

And they're right. Though it does show skin, it's not gratuitous and doesn't show nudity in the slightest — in fact, many television programs routinely show more skin than what was featured in the commercial.

So, is body acceptance not ready for primetime? Seems like it.

"We’ve seen it on the fashion runways and in print for decades, and though we’ve made some progress, a larger size model even today can still raise eyebrows and be seen as ‘imperfect,'" Lane Bryant's CEO and president, Linda Heasley, told Refinery29. "I’m completely confident that the next generation will look back on these days of exclusion and shake their heads in wonder that it was ever common practice."
