More: 11 Terrifying claims against Kate Gosselin

Gosselin says when he left the hit series he was “indemnified” by the network — he couldn’t work in television anymore, nor could he defend himself against ex-wife Kate’s allegations, which he claims TLC backed and the tabloids jumped on. The father of eight also lost his public relations firm and was generally left to fend for himself against headlines that he was a womanizer and a deadbeat dad while the show was still airing, showing the couple as happy and very much together.

Car mechanic's sexist billboard prompts women to fight back

More: Teach your kids to call out sexism

My first reaction to this whole situation is complete confusion — I mean who, in 2016, thinks they could possibly put up such a billboard without any consequences? Local auto repair shop owner Josie Candito had the perfect reaction to the sign, erecting her own sign in response, which reads: "Mellish Motors… My Canada includes respect for women! #WomenCanDrive."

"I had to stand up for women," she tells CBC News.

On Facebook, Candito explains that she initially felt compelled to just ignore the sign "to not draw more attention their way" but quickly saw it as an opportunity to take a stand. The owner of Julie's Tire and Auto Shop points out: "Women can fix cars, and women can own and operate automotive shops."

women can drive

women can drive

And of course the Internet is responding with a vengeance, as any reasonable person would expect it to. Take a peek:

Some are shocked to be having this debate at all in 2016:

Women 2016

Women 2016

Others point out that insurance stats are in favour of women drivers:

Women drivers

Women drivers

And some men are outraged too:

men upset too

men upset too

The Mellish Motors owner fired back when the sign originally began garnering attention thanks to a snapshot local woman Chelsea Ling shared on Facebook. Owner John Mellish thinks women should lighten up and take a joke, telling CBC News that the sign was erected "in good humour."

"I've put up signs about men, teachers, myself, kids, etcetera. I do like people to be talking. Good or bad, it does get attention," he says. "We probably struck a nerve with one or two people out there, and so be it — that's fair ball."

More: What if women took some responsibility for sexism?

Not one to apologize or back down, he responded with a sign that said, "Sensitive women don't read this sign," which, from a business perspective, makes zero sense, but clearly his right to make groan-inducing anti-women jokes trumps, you know, attracting customers, a huge percentage of whom could have been women.

Women can't drive

Women can't drive

So what's the deal? Should we be angry? Honestly, I'm just struggling to grasp why someone has such an intense need to tell ornery-old-uncle-at-a-family-barbecue type sexist jokes that he'd alienate half his clientele. It's not the sharpest move, and it kind of seems like he got what was coming to him.

What do you think? Did John Mellish go too far? Leave your thoughts below in the comments.

4 DIY hair conditioning treatments that don't feel like a chemistry project

The bottom line: Homemade hair treatments have become as simple to make as a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

DIY hair treatments

If you're curious about trying out your own DIY conditioner, we've got six simple recipes to start you off. Whether you crave a more voluminous mane or want to tame frizz and fly-aways, these treatments fit the bill and will save you money.

1. Mayo mask for volume

Grab a bowl and add 1/2 cup of mayonnaise, 1/2 cup of plain yogurt and the egg white from one egg. Mix the ingredients together and apply to your hair, making sure you leave it on for at least 30 minutes so that it has time to penetrate and work wonders on frayed ends. Rinse the conditioning treatment with lukewarm water, making sure you wash all of it out (for obvious reasons).

DIY beauty expert, and author of Recipe for Radiance and Radiant Bride, Alexis Wolfer affirmed that this is a great hydrating mask. "The lactic acid in the yogurt will [also] help to gently remove product build up," she added. However, she cautions against using this on fine hair because all the fats can weigh hair down.

2. Coconut oil

Coconut oil hair mask

We all know coconut oil is the elixir that keeps giving, right? In addition to keeping our bodies healthy when used as an awesome substitute for vegetable oil and butter, it does wonders for dry, damaged hair. Coconut oil can be applied alone to soften locks or, alternatively, you can mix 1/4 cup of coconut oil with one avocado and apply generously to hair, concentrating most of the mixture on the ends of hair to avoid a greasy scalp.

More: Here's what happened when I shaved with coconut oil

Wolfer adds that you can even use coconut oil as an anti-frizz styling treatment. But given all the grease involved, remember that a little will go a long way with this tip.

3. Honey conditioner

honey hair conditioner
Image: Tiffany Egbert/SheKnows

"Raw honey is a great humectant, both hydrating on its own and boosting the efficacy of all other moisturizers," says Wolfer. She suggests adding 1/4 teaspoon of honey per tablespoon of conditioner. Then, starting 2 inches away from your scalp, apply the mixture all the way to your ends. The conditioner will make it easier to rinse out. Wolfer really stresses using raw honey.

You can also add 1/4 cup of raw honey with enough water (alternatively, you can mix it with 1/4 cup of olive oil you make it slightly less viscous because you can imagine the mess). According to Wolfer, you should not put olive oil within two inches of your scalp unless you have very coarse hair, so let this mask work its magic on your ends.

Add the mixture to your hair — again, concentrating on the ends. Leave the conditioning treatment on for 30 minutes and wash it out well with warm water.

4. Apple cider vinegar

Apple Cider Vinegar for hair
Image: Tiffany Egbert/SheKnows

Raw, or unfiltered, apple cider vinegar may help restore the natural pH balance of your hair. It also contains alpha-hydroxy acid, which helps exfoliate your scalp — so, it's basically a heavenly hair ingredients. Wolfer says, "Apple cider vinegar is a great balancing treatment for your scalp." She points out that it's more effective on your scalp than it is on the hair itself. "That said, it's an oily scalp that's leaving you with oily hair, so treating the scalp will ultimately treat your hair too." Similarly, a dry scalp can impact hair health. So combating a dry, flaky scalp could lead to healthier hair.

Wolfer says, "Apply it to your scalp with cotton rounds to combat any dry/itchy/flaky scalp issues. This does leave your hair smelling a bit like salad dressing, so be forewarned!"

A source told Radar Online that the couple visited an LA-area restaurant earlier this week, and although they had not yet made their public announcement, it was clear Malone is expecting.

"[Lorenzo] was very sweet and carried her through the doors as they came into the restaurant," the witness told Radar, adding that while they did not order alcohol, they did toast each other with their water glasses.

And it sounds like Malone could be expecting a girl, because the source said Malone was overheard telling Lorenzo, "You wanted a boy, didn't you?"

Malone has not announced the sex of her little bundle yet, but if she does, we will keep you updated.

My autoimmune disease made me gain weight and feel uncomfortable in my own skin

More: I'm a competitive athlete and even I get body shamed

Now, with an autoimmune disease that requires me to take Prednisone, a medication that causes weight gain, I struggle to keep the weight off. I want to eat everything and it all seems to go right to my hips, arms and thighs.

Talk about body insecurity. I stay away from the scale until my curiosity gets the better of me and I step on, hoping what it reveals is what I want. Surprise — it doesn't!

I've never been this heavy in my life. It's something that I can live with, but I really feel uncomfortable in my own skin. I realize it's a side effect of the medication, but knowing that doesn't help me accept it. It's extremely hard to accept something that you know you can't change. I can't stop taking my meds because I'll have more of a problem to deal with than some weight gain.

I continue to practice yoga, including a more intense workout called Kundalini yoga, hoping that will help me feel more comfortable with my body.

More: How yoga helped me grieve and begin healing after losing a child

As we get older, I know there're some things that change in our bodies. We're no longer in our twenties when things seemed so easy. Then again, we had no clue what the heck we were doing with our lives back then — most of us, at least.

I think most diets are the same: the basic message is to eat well and exercise. Sounds easy right? Unfortunately, that doesn't take into account our special circumstances that each of us have to deal with.

Be proud of who you are and your own journey in this life. Do the best you can and remember to live. Life is short, too short to be get held up on insecurity!

To take the flavor way over the top (and no, there are no powdery flavor packets involved), I gave the broth tons of punch with lemongrass and chili paste, then topped it with lots of fresh chopped cilantro and lime. If you like things spicy, drizzle in a little Sriracha sauce.

Lemongrass beef ramen soup recipe

Though you add the beef raw to the serving bowls, the broth ladled on top will be hot enough to cook it.

Serves 4

Prep time: 10 minutes | Cook time: 20 minutes | Total time: 30 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 32 ounces beef stock
  • 2 garlic cloves, grated
  • 2 teaspoons lemongrass paste
  • 2 teaspoons chili paste
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1/2 pound thinly sliced beef, cut into thin strips
  • 2 packs ramen noodles (flavor packets not used)
  • 1 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1 lime, quartered

Directions:

  1. To a medium-size saucepan, add the beef stock, garlic, lemongrass paste, chili paste and grated ginger. Set over medium heat, and simmer for about 5 minutes just to help the flavors combine.
  2. After 5 minutes, turn the heat up to high, and bring to a boil. Once the mixture is boiling, add in the ramen noodles, and cook until the noodles are just cooked, and then remove from the heat.
  3. Split the raw beef among 4 bowls, and serve the hot soup over the beef.
  4. Top with cilantro and lime.

As it turns out, there are a whole slew of super secret hacks that can make your viewing experience more convenient and more enjoyable than ever before. Want to take your viewing strategy to a whole new level? Continue reading for five Netflix hacks you absolutely have to know.

More: 18 Disney movie scenes no parent can watch without crying

Discover hidden categories (and hours of unwatched TV and movies)

While this hack isn’t brand new, it is one that even the most devoted binge-watchers may have missed. Netflix organizes their content into genres, making it easy for users to browse through the library from the TV or computer screen. But not all of their categories are listed on the Netflix home screen. Finding these secret Netflix categories is as simple as changing the numbers at the end of a Netflix genre URL that is located on the home screen. So, you have a URL that looks like this: www.netflix.com/browse/genre/6839, and all you need to do is change the last two numbers randomly until you find a category that grabs your interest.

If you aren’t sure you have the time or dedication to discover all of Netflix’s hidden genres yourself, you can take a peek at an official list.

Tweak Your Streaming Speed to Avoid Buffering

Is there anything more annoying than having your favorite show interrupted by buffering? Well this hack allows you to tweak your streaming speed to avoid buffering altogether. To access the menu that controls these settings, hit Shift+Alt+Left Click on your PC or Shift+Option+Click on your Mac. Within that menu, select the “stream manager” option and change your playback to match up with your buffering rate. This should keep buffering from interrupting your viewing in the future.

Create Different Profiles

Whether you are sharing your Netflix account with a roommate, a spouse or your kids, it can be frustrating sifting through recommendation after recommendation that is based on someone else’s viewing habits. In 2013, Netflix added a feature that allows users to create up to five profiles for each account.

To create a profile, select the "Manage Profiles" option in the top right corner of your screen and create a unique name for your profile. To influence the recommendations that appear within that profile, simply make sure you are using that profile to watch all of your favorite shows and movies.

Delete Your Viewing History

We all have our guilty pleasure shows, but we might not all want our viewing choices broadcasted to every other person sharing our account. If you found yourself watching Katy Perry: Part of Me one Friday night, simply follow these tips to erase all proof from your Netflix account.

The easiest way to erase your guilty pleasures from your Netflix account is to delete your profile completely. Once a profile is deleted, the viewing history from that profile will be deleted as well. If you were using your main account at the time, you will have to completely delete your account and re-subscribe. Now, that is a lot of work so you’ll have to decide how important protecting your reputation is to you.

Charlie Sheen reportedly threatened to kill Denise Richards and their kids

Denise Richards is accusing Sheen of some pretty horrific things in explosive new court documents, including stealing money from their children and even threatening their lives.

Richards and Sheen have always had a very up and down relationship, but her statements in these papers prove that it has deteriorated possibly to the point of no return. Richards, mom to Sheen's daughters Sam and Lola, says that despite the couple's divorce and custody agreement, which stipulates Sheen will pay for the home in which the girls live with their mom, he sold their house out from underneath them.

More: Charlie Sheen's ex alleges shocking HIV deception in new lawsuit

"Throughout 2011 and 2012, Sheen asked Richards and their children to move into a home that he had previously purchased in the gated community in which he resided (the Clerendon Residence [sic])," the court documents state. "Sheen had been diagnosed with a life-threatening condition, feared that it could cost him his life, and wanted to repair the relationship with his children. Richards was concerned about Sheen's erratic behavior but did not want to prevent Sheen from being close to his children during this time."

But Richards claims that once they were in the house, Sheen turned on them, sending horrible texts to his daughters such as, "Have a merry Xmas with your loser f*** shit mom … your dad is a rock star genius … your mom is a pus wart."

She also claims she overheard a phone conversation in which Sheen told Lola, "I'm going to kill you and I'm going to kill your mom," and called his daughter a "f***ing pig whore."

In September 2015 — just two months before he made his dramatic HIV announcement — Sheen kicked her and her daughters out of their home and put the house on the market at a loss.

Sheen's lawyer Marty Singer has an answer for everything. "The texts were to Denise," Singer told People. "It is very sad that she uses the children to get more money from Charlie and makes it almost impossible for Charlie to see his daughters.

"Denise Richards is not satisfied that she has received $660,000 tax-free each year for almost 10 years," he continued. "It is not enough money for her, besides the approximate $10 million she has received from Charlie under her short marriage."

But Richards is not having it.

Josh Duggar may be winning lawsuit against stripper Danica Dillon

More: Photo of Jill Duggar's baby causes crazy uproar

According to The Inquisitr, Duggar could be making strides in the $500,000 lawsuit filed against him by stripper Danica Dillon, alleging physical abuse. The site reports that the case was scheduled for a pretrial hearing on Thursday, but by Wednesday, Dillon had yet to provide the judge with proof of the rough sex she says took place, or the wages she claims she lost from being unable to work following the incident.

Court documents reveal that Duggar's lawyers want the case thrown out due to Dillon's lack of evidence. They say that so far, she's refused to disclose medical records, information about her lost wages and a series of text messages she claims she exchanged with Duggar, which will allegedly prove the nature of their relationship.

More: Jessa Duggar gets a much better reaction to new baby pics than Jill (PHOTOS)

All Dillon has provided to the judge so far is a copy of her $900 contract with Creekside Cabaret, the Pennsylvania strip club where she claims she and Duggar met before he allegedly abused her. Duggar's lawyers say the contract "alone is not sufficient to determine the wages lost to date in light of her alleged inability to work since mid-April." His team has asked the judge to force Dillon to submit more proof of her allegations.

Meanwhile, Dillon's own family seems to be against her story. Her sister, Mariah Stamm, told Radar Online that Dillon "pretty much followed Josh for six months before the first encounter ever happened," and that she stalked him on Twitter to know where he was at all times. Stamm claims Dillon is looking for "15 minutes of fame."

Dillon has appeared on talk shows since filing her lawsuit against Duggar, seemingly giving weight to her sister's claims.

Jason Stratton reveals how Top Chef made a difference in the LGBT community

$

SheKnows: Who is your favorite Top Chef contestant of all time and why?

Jason Stratton: I loved Kevin Gillespie from the Las Vegas season. I thought his food was soulful, delicious and really spoke from a point of view. I think I shed a couple tears when he was taken out of the finale.

More: Wesley True discusses his crucial Top Chef mistake

SK: Were you surprised by your elimination?

JS: I was not surprised. It was difficult to watch, but under-seasoning is a crime. I bet all the cooks that have worked with me were pretty gobsmacked that it was a light hand with salt that got me booted. I tend to ride the line of highly seasoned. I love salt and acid.

SK: What was it like working with all of the judges on the show?

JS: Pretty spectacular. They all have incredible palates and a wealth of knowledge. Hard as [the] judges' table is to sit through at times, it was invaluable feedback. Padma is not just an iconic fashion gazelle, but she's a complete super-taster. It's uncanny how she can pick out individual flavors. I love Gail, she really delves into what each chef's style is, what they are going for. Tom is Tom is Tom, not to be all Gertrude Stein. He understands solid technique and immediately cuts through anything unnecessary. It's nerve-wracking when he walks into the kitchen, but mostly because no one in the competition wants to have him see a fault with what we are doing. Any good line cook knows the feeling when you let Chef down. It's very much like that.

SK: Which contestant do you think deserves to win? Or who are you rooting for?

JS: I ate at Myers + Chang in Boston a few years back and absolutely was smitten with it. I really love Karen. You can tell that she's good people by the way she speaks so highly of her staff — a thing that is way too often overlooked in this industry. There's a lot more that makes a chef great than the food they cook. That said, her food packs a lot of punch, a lot of soul and flavor. She's my pick.

SK: Who did you consider your biggest competition?

JS: Silly to say, but obviously, myself. The level of pure talent in this season was daunting from day one. Especially on this last episode, really anyone could mop the trophy. I knew that to win, I had to just cook the best that I could and not make a mistake. My style tends to be a little minimalist, but in the field and especially against the clock, I tend to overthink and over-complicate. Classic ignoring Ms. Coco Chanel's advice about accessories.

More: Top Chef fans love Kwame Onwuachi for not being a reality show jerk

SK: Was there anyone on the show you really clashed with? Who was it and why?

JS: I wouldn't say that I clashed with any one person. I did have issues with the "bro-ishness" of the group, which I just find irritating in general. But one-on-one, those guys are all sweethearts. It was disappointing to see the ladies fall from the group. I appreciate working in a more evenly balanced group in a kitchen.

SK: Who is your favorite out of the judges and why?

JS: Gail for days. I met her in 2010 from my Food and Wine Best New Chef year, so we have some history. She is passionate, thoughtful and adventurous as a diner. I also appreciate the fact that she is willing to go out on a limb if something is delicious. She is also very fair and measured in her critiques, but she doesn't pull a punch when she wants more from a dish.

SK: Who do you think deserved to go home on last night's episode?

JS: I did, absolutely. Under-seasoning breaks my heart; not as bad as too much salt, but c'mon. I know that Kwame had a hard time with this challenge too. I am pretty sure we both said to each other in the stew room, "No, I know I'm going home." A lot of the critiques, though, from the week before at Juniper & Ivy still rang true in this challenge. I needed to relax and show a little more Jason Stratton, and I overthought it all.

SK: What was the best experience you had on the show?

JS: Big Fat Gay Wedding. It was a very emotional day for everyone, but especially in the context of that moment for those 25 couples. The whole team really wanted the day to be perfect for everyone. It felt like a truly historic thing. When marriage equality happened across the nation later that summer, it felt like we had been a small part of the turning tide. I'll never forget that day. Bravo, Bravo!

More: Is Top Chef's Phillip just on the show for drama?

SK: What was the biggest challenge for you on the show?

JS: Man, that clock is the real deal! Carrie Mashaney, my longtime collaborator and Top Chef New Orleans contestant, told me that time would be the hardest thing for me to tackle in this competition. A lot of the dishes that I'm known for are long, slow braises, processes that can take days to make. I had to brush up on booking it in my clogs.

Were you surprised Jason was eliminated?

Gillian Anderson reveals shocking The X-Files sexism

$

Anderson says that she had to fight tooth and nail to have some ridiculous rules changed on the set of The X-Files, some of which had to do with salary — and some of which were just so stupidly ridiculous it will make you wonder if it happened during this century.

Anderson, who plays no-nonsense scientist Scully on the beloved TV series, told one anecdote about life on set that totally blew our minds. Despite being lauded as a feminist icon, her character was still treated as a second-class citizen by the studio.

More: The X-Files spoilers: Could love still be in the air for Mulder and Scully?

"The studio initially required Anderson to stand a few feet behind her male partner on camera, careful never to step side by side with him," The Daily Beast revealed in an interview with Anderson. "And it took three years before Anderson finally closed the wage gap between her pay and Duchovny's, having become fed up with accepting less than 'equal pay for equal work.'"

Anderson tried to come up with a reasonable explanation for the studio's ridiculousness, but could not. "I can only imagine that at the beginning, they wanted me to be the sidekick," she told The Daily Beast. "Or that, somehow, maybe it was enough of a change just to see a woman having this kind of intellectual repartee with a man on camera, and surely the audience couldn't deal with actually seeing them walk side by side!

"I have such a knee-jerk reaction to that stuff, a very short tolerance for that shit," she said. "I don't know how long it lasted or if it changed because I eventually said, 'F*** no! No!' I don't remember somebody saying, 'OK, now you get to walk alongside him.' But I imagine it had more to do with my intolerance and spunk than it being an allowance that was made."

More: How The X-Files saved Gillian Anderson

Anderson's salary was initially much lower than her co-star David Duchovny's, but she eventually got on equal footing — until once again she was offered just half of his salary for the new X-Files event series.

"I'm surprised that more [interviewers] haven't brought that up, because it's the truth," Anderson said. "Especially in this climate of women talking about the reality of [unequal pay] in this business, I think it's important that it gets heard and voiced. It was shocking to me, given all the work that I had done in the past to get us to be paid fairly. I worked really hard toward that and finally got somewhere with it.

"Even in interviews in the last few years, people have said to me, 'I can't believe that happened, how did you feel about it, that is insane.' And my response always was, 'That was then, this is now.' And then it happened again! I don't even know what to say about it. It is… sad. It is sad."

But don't worry — sources later confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that Anderson did wind up with an equal paycheck to Duchovny. She would never settle for less.

More: Jenelle Evans celebrates turning 24 by making two big decisions

Though the Teen Mom has been at the center of a lot of legal trouble over the past few years, she says it was no big deal when the police showed up at her home this week — and they weren't there because of her.

Evans, who has been arrested 13 times in the last five years, cleared the air on Twitter about the fight that apparently took place between her boyfriend and her mom, prompting the police to pay a visit to the house.

"Kaiser was never taken from my house," Evans tweeted, referring to her 18-month-old son. "I was in the bathroom doing my makeup to go to lunch with my mom. Kaiser was in David's arms and she kept yelling so he asked her to leave and she didn't... Simple."

More: Jenelle Evans’ new video of her son sends Instagram into a fury (VIDEO)

According to Us Weekly, it was Evans' boyfriend, David Eason, who called the police. That set off the rumor mill, leading online speculators to claim that Evans' mom, Barbara Evans, left the house with not only Evans' 6-year-old son Jace, of whom Barbara has custody, but Kaiser as well. Evans said on Twitter that that was not the case.

"That was my nephew and Jace she took... Not Kaiser," she explained.

Evans also said no charges were filed as a result of the incident. Despite her rocky past relationship with her mother, Evans has said recently that she's committed to repairing her family and reclaiming custody of Jace.

A cryptic photo posted on Instagram by Keiko Agena has fans wondering if the oft-rumored revival series they've hoped for may finally be in the works.

The photo shows Agena and Gilmost Girls producer Helen Pai, posing together. Alongside the snap, Agena wrote, "With the REAL LIFE Lane Kim, Helen Pai. Good things are coming..."

Gilmore Girls revival rumors

Agena played Lane Kim, best friend of Alexis Bledel's Rory Gilmore, on the popular series, which ran from 2000 to 2007. Six seasons were shown on The WB before the show switched over to The CW for its final two seasons.

Many fans of the show believe Agena's character was closely based on Pai, who was a good friend of Gilmore Girls creator, Amy Sherman-Palladino. Art imitates life, right?

Naturally, the photo and its cryptic message made fans believe the revival series is finally on its way.

"We missed all of you soooo much .., can’t wait!!!" one follower commented on Agena's Instagram post. Another wrote, "All of your fans and fans of GG are sooooooo excited. It's a wish come true."

Rumors have been swirling for years that a spin-off of the popular series is in the works, but so far, nothing has come to fruition. Netflix has been at the center of a lot of the rumors, ever since news broke that the streaming site was in talks to head up the revival effort. Last week, however, Netflix's Chief Content Officer, Ted Sarandos, told reporters he couldn't confirm anything.

"I can’t tell you much about Gilmore Girls," he said. "We’re still working on buttoning down everything before our announcements."

New video helps take the shame out of extreme sex fantasies (WATCH)

Part of the reason for this is that most people still feel a certain amount of shame when it comes to expressing their sexual desires. Whether it's because of their cultural values, how they were brought up or simply personal insecurity, this shame is severely inhibiting our ability to have completely satisfying sexual experiences.

More: BDSM romance Dangerously Bound the next Fifty Shades?

It took me years to open up about my sexual fantasies, even though I loved and trusted the person I was with implicitly. I think my hesitation came from an inherent fear of being judged, especially because I'm a woman, and society seems quick to categorize women with "unorthodox" sexual proclivities as kinky or even slutty. However, once I came clean with my boyfriend about what I was secretly interested in sexually, our relationship became much more intimate and exciting.

The YouTube channel School of Life recognizes that this sexual shame is a pretty universal problem and decided to stir the pot by having men and women speak candidly about it on camera. At the top of the video, most are fairly reticent about fully divulging their fantasies, but as time goes on, most feel safe enough to get very, very real about what excites them sexually.

The creators first have their volunteers give some background on their current relationship status, and that alone is pretty interesting. While one woman is "just dating," another is practicing "non-monogamy," or polyamory. One man says he's living with his girlfriend but is also sexually active with others outside the relationship, and yet another woman explains she's in a long-distance relationship but is open sexually in her partner's absence. So as you can see, the stage is already set for some pretty diverse responses.

sexual fantasies

One of my favorites is the woman who says that while she's been sexually involved with only women her whole life, she wants a more traditional sexual interaction with a man, in which she's dominated. She fully admits to the irony of her desire for this more "mainstream" male/female fantasy, but for her, it's actually something quite new and different.

Meanwhile, the man in the open relationship says something a lot of women might fear hearing — he fantasizes about having sex with a woman against her will. While no woman actually wants to be raped, there are actually quite a few women who would fully go along with this with a consenting partner. One study found that more than two-thirds of women have had a rape fantasy at least once. Ironically, the main reason scientists suggest women gravitate toward this fantasy is that it relieves the ingrained shame they feel over engaging in sex in the first place. To be very clear, this does not mean that women want to be raped. It simply means that two consenting partners may want play out a fantasy in a controlled, safe environment.

More: 8 Ways to orgasm without sex

Another woman explains that someone "crossing boundaries" is titillating for her, especially when she doesn't expect it and doesn't know how it will go. That sense of unsureness mixes so easily with excitement, but the trick to it is you really can't plan it out too much (if at all). The quickest way a sexual fantasy gets ruined is when it starts to feel predictable and/or safe.

So in conclusion, we should feel free to divulge our sexual fantasies with our partner. Go forth and conquer (but remember the word consent).

For the marinade

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika

For the hot sauce

  • 1/4 cup butter

  3. In a small bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, paprika, salt and cayenne pepper or chili powder.
  4. Place the chicken wings in a large glass bowl.
  5. Coat the wings evenly with the flour mixture.
  6. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and keep it in the refrigerator.
  7. Marinate for an hour or 90 minutes.
  8. Spray a baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray (preferably Pam).
  9. Place the marinated chicken wings on the sheet and lightly spray the wings with cooking spray.
  10. Bake for 45 minutes at 350 degrees F, then increase the oven temperature to 375 degrees F.
  11. Take the wings out of the oven and spray them with cooking spray.
  12. Place the wings back in the oven and bake them for another 10 minutes. This makes the wings crispy.
  13. Make the sauce while the wings are baking.
  14. Heat a saucepan over low heat. Add the butter, hot sauce, ground pepper and garlic powder and stir them together.
  15. Let the butter melt, and stir the mixture until it is well blended.
  16. Remove the sauce from the heat and pour it over the baked crispy chicken wings.

Teriyaki chicken wing drumettes
Image: Kim Grundy/SheKnows

4. Teriyaki chicken wings recipe

Serves 12 (5 drumettes per serving)

Ingredients:

  • 3-4 pounds chicken wings and drumettes, rinsed and patted dry
  • Garlic powder (not garlic salt)
  • 1-1/2 tablespoons fresh ground ginger or 1 tablespoon dried ginger
  • 1 cup light soy sauce
  • 1-1/2 cups sugar or 3/4 cup sugar and 3/4 cup Splenda
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Toasted sesame seeds

Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 250 degrees F. Cover a large baking sheet, such as a jelly roll pan, with heavy-duty aluminum foil.
  2. Arrange the chicken in one layer with the skin side up. Sprinkle them generously with garlic powder and set them aside.
  3. In a medium-size bowl (a bowl with a pouring spout works well), combine the ginger, soy sauce, sugar and water. Stir until the sugar begins to dissolve.
  4. Pour the soy sauce mixture over the chicken, coating as much as possible.
  5. Bake for 60 minutes, uncovered, then turn the chicken and bake for another 30-45 minutes. Turn the chicken one more time. The teriyaki sauce will begin to thicken at this point. Continue baking and turning every 5-10 minutes until the sauce reaches a molasses-like consistency and is sticking nicely to the chicken. Total baking time should be approximately 2-3 hours.
  6. The chicken can also be prepared in an electric frying pan or slow cooker, but the result is more caramelized and sticky-gooey when baked in a conventional oven. If you make them in a slow cooker, watch them closely so they don't overcook and fall apart.
  7. Remove the chicken and sauce to a warmed serving plate. Garnish with sesame seeds.

5. Margarita chicken wings recipe

Serves 6 (4-5 drumettes per person)

Ingredients:

  • 3 pounds chicken wing drumettes
  • 1/4 cup tequila
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely diced
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
  • 3/4 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro or parsley, chopped fine
  • 4 limes

Directions:

  1. Wash and pat dry the chicken-wing drumettes. Place the drumettes in a glass or plastic container, arranging them in a single layer.
  2. Combine the tequila, olive oil, salt, black pepper, garlic, onion, thyme, cumin, paprika and cilantro. Stir well and drizzle the resulting marinade over the chicken drumettes.
  3. Roll the limes on a hard surface. Cut them in half and squeeze the juice directly onto the drumettes. Cover and marinate them in the refrigerator for 2 hours. Turn the drumettes and marinate them for 2 more hours or overnight.
  4. Approximately 1 hour before serving time, preheat your oven to 400 degrees F. Roast the drumettes uncovered for 50 minutes, basting every 10-15 minutes.
  5. For extra-crispy drumettes, place them under a broiler until they reach the desired crispiness. Olé!

Striptease performance at ad agency industry event causes an uproar

The function, which was attended by more than 600 staff members and clients, was held at the Beresford Hotel in Sydney.

Following a performance by Deni Hines and a speech by CEO Jaimes Leggett, a woman emerged from the birthday cake, swishing and swaying seductively in a white feathery number.

More: The Biggest Loser trainer criticised for postpartum exercise advise

Mumbrella reports that Leggett finished his speech with: "It wouldn't be a 21st, however, without a cake. Ladies and gentlemen, happy birthday," before the woman was seen emerging from the cake.

There was also a burlesque performance and a bondage-themed striptease which saw women remove their business clothes to reveal strap bondage-inspired outfits before the women covered their heads with Louis Vuitton bags.

I love a burlesque performance as much as the next person, and it truly can be an art form, but watching women strip from their business clothes before traipsing about in almost nothing is a horribly sexist message to send out at an industry event.

"It was a celebration of 21 years of creativity and incredible work, amazing clients and great people," a spokesperson for the advertising agency said. "Creativity is our stock in trade and at M&C Saatchi, creativity comes in many forms."

More: Menstrual metaphors have been turned into ingenious art exhibition

Creativity does come in many forms, and perhaps in a different setting the performance would have been completely acceptable. But here, it's not. Not even close.

Just 15 per cent of CEOs in Australia are women, in the United States only 3 per cent of executive creative directors at ad agencies are women, despite being in control of 80 per cent of consumer spending.

Something has got to give in the industry, and parading women wearing next to nothing at industry events is not a foot in the right direction.

Just a couple of months ago, another advertising agency Leo Burnett announced that five new team members had made the cut to senior roles within the company. All five of them were white men, not a woman in sight.

It's not terribly surprising that someone actually came up with the idea of having a woman jump out of a cake and then have a group of other women do a strip tease for a faux 21st birthday party, but the fact that someone actually agreed to that idea and thought, yeah, that is a perfectly acceptable form of entertainment for an industry event, that is what boggles the mind.

The sexual exploitation of women has been perpetuated by the advertising industry for almost as long as advertising has existed, but the fact that women continue to be objectified in this industry, even at a work function, is a sign that it needs some diversity, a new female perspective and some common sense thrown in there, too.

What do you think about M&C Saatchi's event? Let us know.

"Do not whisper when you utter the word 'PERIODS', do not subtly offer a woman a sanitary napkin, or a fresh change of clothes.
