Straight Outta Compton, Nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture

Straight Outta Compton
Image: Universal Pictures/YouTube

Except for Paul Giamatti, the Straight Outta Compton cast is filled with Hollywood newcomers, which makes it all the more impressive that there wasn’t a weak performance in the bunch. No one would have objected to seeing Corey Hawkins get an individual nomination for his brilliant portrayal of legendary rapper Dr. Dre, but it would be wonderful to see the whole cast rewarded for their efforts. Will the Guild look favorably on this story of music, racial justice and social change?

Brie Larson (Room), Nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role

Brie Larson
Image: A24/YouTube

Larson isn’t going to be an underdog for much longer. After receiving lots of attention for her breakout role in Short Term 12, she’s already collecting copious nominations for her work as a mother and domestic abuse survivor in Room. Seasoned vets like Cate Blanchett and Helen Mirren will be her biggest competition, but Larson is one underdog with enough early buzz to ultimately win in the end.

Alicia Vikander (The Danish Girl), Nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role

Alicia Vikander
Image: Focus Features/YouTube

Swedish star, Vikander isn’t a household name in North America yet, but between her recent roles in The Danish Girl and Ex Machina, she’s well on her way. Last year was a huge one for her Danish Girl co-star, Eddie Redmayne. Perhaps some of his luck will be passed on to Vikander?

Key & Peele, Nominated for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series

Key & Peele
Image: Comedy Central/YouTube

The brainchild of comedians Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele recently concluded its fifth and final season on Comedy Central, making this the perfect year for it to finally win some award love. Alongside industry favorites like Modern Family, Orange is the New Black, and Veep, Key & Peele will have the hardest shot at winning. But considering the viral success of sketches like "Negrotown" (pictured above), it might just steal the show.

Rami Malek (Mr. Robot), Nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series

Rami Malek
Image: Mr. Robot/YouTube

Larson’s Short Term 12 co-star has been making a huge name for himself as the breakout performer on USA’s Mr. Robot. Next to A-listers like Peter Dinklage, Jon Hamm, and Kevin Spacey, Malek may not have all that it takes to take home the statue this year, but you can bet that we’ll be hearing a lot more of his name in the next few years.

Louis C.K., (Louie), Nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series

Louis C.K.
Image: Louis C.K./YouTube

C.K. is fun to watch at award shows, because even he seems surprised to be nominated. He’s up against nominees like Jim Parsons, Jeffrey Tambor, and Ty Burrell, so this year may end up being another tough one for him. But considering what an edgy and unexpected choice he would be, the Internet would explode in cheers if he's called to the stage.

Ellie Kemper (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt), Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series

Ellie Kemper
Image: Netflix/YouTube

A show like Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt never could have worked without a grounded, hilarious performance like the one that Kemper gave. She’s more accustomed to Upright Citizens Brigade stages than award show stages, and next to favorites like Uzo Aduba and Julia Louis-Dreyfus, she's a long shot for winning this year. But her performance was such a pleasure to watch that it would be so exciting to see her honored.

More: Blake Shelton caught getting super handsy with Gwen Stefani

That's right: her boyfriend and fellow coach, Blake Shelton.

With Season 9 of the hit singing competition show coming to a close, Stefani has only three more appearances before she takes a break during Season 10. But with her romance with Shelton just starting to take off, it turns out he may have some plans in the works to keep her around a little longer.

"I don't want Gwen to not be on the show — why can't we have a fifth coach?" he said to Extra's Renee Bargh.

Bargh also spoke to the other three judges, including Stefani, who dished on how it feels to be leaving her post as a successful judge on the show.

"I wonder..." Stefani answered coyly when asked who she was going to miss most, before adding that she's "devastated" that she only gets to pick out three more outfits to wear on the show. "It's the combination," she said. "It's the chemistry."

More: Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton's hot romance is proving good for business

Maroon 5's Adam Levine, another coach for the show, also weighed in on Stefani's run.

"I think Gwen has been a stand-out moment," he said. "Somehow, when Gwen walks in the room, we all look like we've been wearing the same outfit for 10 years."

Even though Stefani is leaving The Voice, she's not exiting the limelight any time soon. She'll be performing her single "Used To Love You" on NBC's New Year's Eve with Carson Daly, and she also plans to put out a new album next year, possibly with an accompanying tour.

"I cannot wait for that," she said about her upcoming next steps. "I have not performed on New Year's Eve in a long time. It’s gonna be awesome."

How I accepted that my love couldn't save my husband from addiction

After 13 years of hearing this, I finally said to him, “Maybe it’s best if you do.”

I had a phrase I shared on my blog about my husband’s way of thinking. He was told, “I love you, but if you do this, you don’t love me.”

This was foreign to me. Love should not come with caveats. Love should be unconditional. As a matter of fact, real love is unconditional. My husband tried to soothe the void in his life with women and drugs. It took years of counseling to uncover what I had always suspected. My husband missed out on being loved, but my love alone couldn’t save him.

Addiction is crippling — the lying, the hiding, the denial. After the pills (or drugs) are gone, the sickness sets in, and it gets real ugly, real fast. My husband’s body is destroyed from football and track. Every single day, the pain can be quite crippling. Unfortunately, his emotional pain was just as crippling for years, before we sought help.

What I learned during our battle with addiction is to fight for my marriage, not against my husband. As I shared in one of my videos, the healing process is a daily battle. You cannot battle addiction alone. In fact, addicts who attend meetings know that step one of the 12 steps is admitting that “we are powerless over our addiction — that our lives had become unmanageable.”

This step is vital to surviving. We are powerless over our addiction. For our marriage, this step proved to be what saved us.

We were powerless over the struggle. But as the Apostle Paul pointed out, when we are weak, that is when God’s power in us is strong. “But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.'”

"Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” — 2 Corinthians 12:9-11

I could love my husband with all of my might, but it would not be enough to save him. I could pick up the pieces and nurse him through the withdrawals, but it would not be enough. He had to come to the conclusion on his own that he was powerless over the addiction. He was powerless over the longing he had for love and acceptance as a child. He had to replace that void from the lack of love and acceptance he felt with something, but women and drugs were not the answers.

The void could only be filled with the grace and love from Jesus. Addiction does not discriminate. Perhaps you or someone close to you has also struggled.

You cannot fight addiction alone. Focus on the who (Jesus) instead of the why. That puts our eyes on the problem solver, rather than the problem. When I wrote my devotional, Immeasurably More: 30 Days to Choosing Joy, one of the images I tried to paint is that Jesus is our shame remover. Our past mistakes do not have to consume our hearts and minds with shame. We are promised hope when we walk with the Lord. That hope comes with the knowledge that we are never alone, and we do not have to live with shame.

Jesus is our shame remover. No sin is too great to exclude you from God’s forgiveness. You can stop beating yourself up. You can look at the shame you feel as a stain on a piece of clothing, removed with stain remover. Your shame is the stain, and Jesus is the remover. Just as a dirty piece of clothing is treated with stain remover, Jesus is our shame remover.

My love alone couldn’t save him, but the love of Jesus saved us both, and our marriage. You can read more about when we were separated but kept fighting.

How certain foods are linked to health issues 'down there'

Yeast infections

The first time a nurse asked me if my vaginal discharge "looked like cottage cheese" was the day I officially lost my innocence — at least when it came to female health issues. What woman hasn't felt an itch down there and wondered if her vagina had become a petri dish for yeasty bacteria? But there are things you can do to protect against the dreaded infection.

Foods that harm: Yeast feeds on sugar, and so eating too many sugars, particularly the processed kinds, can lead to an overgrowth of yeast in your vagina, according to research by the University of Maryland. Obviously this includes candy, ice cream, chocolates, cupcakes and other sweets, but the scientists say the biggest culprits may be foods we don't typically think of as having high sugar, like alcohol and cheese.

Foods that heal: Yogurt to the rescue! Natural sources of probiotics can help encourage the growth of good bacteria, while quashing the nasty bugs that make us itch and burn. So, load up on fermented foods like yogurt, kefir, sauerkraut and kimchi. The researchers also recommend adding garlic, oregano, sage, cinnamon and cloves to your food — not only do they add healthy flavor, but they also have anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties.

More: 8 Things you should probably know about your vagina

Vaginitis

Characterized by a red, swollen, painful vagina and vulva (sometimes with bonus pus-filled lesions!), this infection is what happens when you don't effectively treat other, more minor, gynecological problems. According to the University of Maryland's research, some women are simply more prone to this über-infection.

Foods that harm: Again (always?) sugar is the bad guy. It may look all innocent in the sugar bowl, but the researchers say it can wreak havoc on the delicate balance of microorganisms in your muffin. They add that any foods you're allergic or sensitive to may also cause a flare-up. Wheat, dairy, corn and food preservatives are common offenders.

Foods that heal: Probiotics like yogurt and kefir are great, but the scientists also recommend eating plenty of nuts, beans and berries for added nutrients and B vitamins.

More: An approved list of things that can go in the vagina

Vaginal dryness

Nothing can take the sex out of sexy times like dryness down there. At best, it's uncomfortable — at worst, it can cause vaginal tearing and abrasions. (Ouch!) Foreplay is generally the best protection against and remedy for dryness, but your diet can play a role too.

Foods that harm: Alcohol is dehydrating — drink too much and your lady garden could go into a serious drought. According to research from Brown University, not only can booze increase dryness down under, but it can also decrease sensation and even block orgasm.

Foods that heal: The most common cause of vaginal dryness, however, is low estrogen, thanks to aging, medication, illness or environmental factors. But according to an Italian study, you can naturally raise estrogen and increase lubrication by eating natural sources of soy like edamame, tofu and miso.

More: Creepy vaginal creams promise a tighter vagina, better sex

Odor

To be clear: However your vag smells — as long as you're not suffering from an infection — is totally fine. Each lady flower has its own unique perfume, and there's nothing pathological about yours. That said, have you ever gone to the bathroom, got a whiff and thought that just ain't right? Food can definitely influence how your vaginal secretions smell and there are times when you (or your partner) may want to change them a bit.

Foods that harm: Meat, dairy, garlic, strong spices, alcohol and smoking can leave you smelling less than fresh, according to the Berkeley Wellness Center. Even good-for-you veggies like broccoli, onions, cabbage and asparagus can leave behind a not-so-good smell. (Oh, asparagus, why you so tasty going in and so stinky coming out?)

Foods that heal: No need to cut broccoli or meat out of your diet, but if you're concerned about your odor make sure they're just one part of an overall healthy diet where no one food overpowers the rest, say the docs. And to sweeten your scent, many women swear by eating pineapple, citrus, mint or cinnamon — although there's no research to support that, it certainly can't hurt to eat more of those healthy, tasty treats!

Sure, it's fun to cheer when your least favorite contestant is eliminated from the show, but was it really the best decision? I don't think so. Gomes is golden when it comes to the final Tribal Council because she's super easy to beat. There is no way she could ever convince the majority of the jury to give her the $1 million. What did she do?!?! Other than create unnecessary villainous drama, she was weak in challenges and posed no true threat. I think this one was a big mistake, especially in a season where targeting threats has been a dominating strategy. That's the reason nobody wanted to keep fan-favorite Joe around anymore, right?

More: Survivor's Joe Anglim explains why voting him out was the smartest move

Wait, what's your name?

Before Gomes was blindsided, there were some other noteworthy moments from the episode. The first came up after Keith won the amazing reward of visiting Cambodian temples. He was given the option of taking two tribemates along for the journey, so he selected Spencer and Kelley. When Jeff Probst asked about the reasoning behind his choices, Keith had a total brain fart and forgot Tasha's name when he was explaining why he didn't pick her. He did eventually remember who she was, but it was an embarrassingly painful few seconds. Hilariously, she is the person Keith voted for at Tribal Council just hours earlier the night before. He even voted for her again at this latest Tribal Council in which Gomes was sent packing. This was a comical topic for Twitter — including a perfect response from previous two-time castaway Francesca Hogi.

Immunity challenge brings medical emergency

Spencer won immunity in a very tiresome challenge, but his victory was overshadowed by Tasha's swimming struggle. After the challenge was over, Tasha was still stuck in the water screaming for help as the waves crashed into her face. Probst shouted for the rescue swimmers to pull Tasha to safety before the show's medic stepped in to evaluate her vitals. Although it was a scary moment, Tasha was safe. Didn't it seem odd to anybody else that the camera crews captured her frightening struggles to stay above water before anything was actually done to step in? Just saying.

Finale outlook

Only 6 castaways remain as we head into the finale on Wednesday, Dec. 16: Spencer, Kimmi, Keith, Tasha, Jeremy and Kelley. One of those people will be crowned the sole Survivor and given their $1 million grand prize. Plus, Probst will reveal the plans for Season 32, which filmed months ago in Cambodia.

For me, this marks the nineteenth consecutive finale in which I will be sitting in the audience and interviewing all six final castaways on the red carpet. Stay tuned for all that exclusive coverage in the days ahead!

Arrow's holiday episode just schooled humans on 14 surprising life lessons

$

1. Caring for the environment is more important than getting presents

When Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) asked the people of Star City to come out and clean up the bay, they didn't hesitate. Sure, they didn't know that a crazy person would try to kill them, but even if they had, I'd like to think they would have done it anyway.

More: Arrow's time travel episode: Cool plot twist or just plain lame?

2. A brother in a cage is better than no brother at all

John Diggle (David Ramsey) understood the true meaning of the holidays when he said that he was happy to have his brother in his life — even if that brother was being controlled by Darhk (Neal McDonough). Sadly, they didn't reconcile by the end of the episode but where there's life there's hope, right?

3. Mixing traditions is a good thing

Mama Smoak made sure that Felicity's (Emily Bett Rickards) Jewish background was represented at Queen's holiday party and it was just too darn cute for words.

Chrismukkah gif

4. It's worth ruining the surprise for your mother's happiness

I would have preferred that Felicity had found out about her engagement when Queen did something unbelievably romantic like baking the ring in a dessert like he wanted. But it was worth having the surprise ruined to hear Felicity's mom's scream of joy when she found the ring.

5. You can't let the terrorists win

Mama Smoak said it all. None of us can afford to let the terrorists win, especially not anyone living in Star City.

6. Don't cancel your holiday party just because you're in danger

It may not have worked, but I had to admire Queen and the rest of Team Arrow's gumption at going through with the party even though they knew the chances were high that Darhk would show up and ruin it all.

More: 8 Reasons Arrow's resurrection story lines are getting annoying

7. The holidays can help any father/daughter relationship

Whether it was Thea and Malcolm getting along for a few minutes or Laurel and Quentin having a good heart-to-heart about their feelings, the father and daughter relationships in this episode were definitely on the mend... at least for a little while.

Arrow holiday episode: Fathers and daughters

8. Holidays are the time for some surprising love connections

Felicity looked like she wanted to scratch her eyes out when she saw Quentin and Donna together. Laurel looked like she wanted to kill someone. But I'm hoping that Mama Smoak and Captain Lance have a long-lasting love.

9. Don't hold onto the big secrets

After Felicity found out about the proposal that almost was, I dreaded waiting months until she brought it up with Queen. Instead, she put it right out into the open so that they could talk about why he waited and why she needed him to know that they should be together no matter what.

10. It's not a good holiday story without a really bad guy

So many great holiday movies and specials are about overcoming some obstacle in order to celebrate with the ones you love. Darhk is evil incarnate, but he does give our heroes a reason to work together.

Arrow holiday episode: kicking butt

Arrow holiday episode: kicking butt

11. Good friends are always there to save the day

With practically everyone locked up by Darhk, it was up to Laurel and her dad to step in and help out. Even Malcolm got in on the action, dressed up as the Green Arrow so he could get his daughter and the others away from Darhk. That big fight scene, with everyone working together, made me feel all warm inside.

12. It's never too late for a proposal

Months after he planned to do it originally, and in a much more public place, Queen finally proposed to Felicity and it was a beautiful thing. Yes, I cried, don't mock me.

Arrow Season 4 Episode 9 - Oliver and Felicity

13. The biggest scrooges still have loved ones

Darhk has a wife and daughter? That is not something I saw coming at all, but maybe it means there's enough humanity in him to save the people of Star City.

More: Why Arrow's Mama Smoak just went from totally hateable to totally dateable

14. Christmas is the time for miracles... we hope

After the proposal and the party, Queen and Felicity drove home and the air was ripe with the anticipation of something terrible about to come. It happened when they were attacked and Felicity was gravely injured. Please let her recovery be another one of those holiday miracles we all hear so much about.

What lessons did you learn watching the holiday episode of Arrow?

Nigella Lawson's views on clean eating have people furious

Nigella Lawson, the British chef and author of Simply Nigella, is against the term "clean eating" and isn't shy about telling you why.

More: Nigella Lawson's husband Charles Saatchi denies choking

In October, the anti-diet advocate told the BBC that, "the notion of 'clean eating' is an implication that any other form of eating is dirty or shameful." She continued, "I think that food should not be used as a way of persecuting oneself and I think, really, one should look to get pleasure and revel in what’s good rather than either think, ‘Oh no, that’s dirty, bad or sinful’ or that ‘eating is virtuous.'”

Earlier this week at the JW3 Speaker Series in London, Lawson exclaimed, "People are using certain diets as a way to hide an eating disorder or a great sense of unhappiness and unease with their own body. There is a way in which food is used either to self congratulate — you're a better person because you're eating like that — or to self-persecute, because you'll not allow yourself to eat the foods you want."

More: Nigella Lawson's surprising way to cope with trial and divorce

She also believes that complimenting a person on their weight loss only rewards someone's perception that skinnier is better. "If you are naturally thin, that is fantastic," she says, "But if you have to starve yourself to be thin, it is not good to encourage people to be in that shape because it is not good for you."

Lawson has a unique perspective on this issue: her mother had an eating disorder. I imagine that seeing someone she loved suffer to be thin could cause her to have such a strong reaction.

But to me, clean eating is about ingesting ingredients that are good for me. When I eat a Krispy Kreme doughnut, I don't think it's dirty or I'm eating sinfullly. I just think that I'm not eating a food item that's best for my body. (My mouth wants you to know that it disagrees, because Krispy Kreme doughnuts taste divine.)

More: Charles Saatchi divorce filing blindsided Nigella Lawson

If your car requires premium gas and you give it regular unleaded, it's not going to run as well. That's kind of how I think about food. Clean eating is your premium.

Lawson and I do agree about one thing: everything in moderation. "There are times when you need a slice of cake," she said. "You don't eat it every day, but life has to be balanced and not too restricted."

Amen, Nigella!

Husband shares all the reasons he loves his wife on their bedroom mirror

Imgur user MollyWho has been going through a rough time since getting married recently. "I've been juggling a LOT lately. Trying to do well at work. Just got married. Couldn't afford a wedding. Family is sparse. Falling out with friends, yaddadyadda," she wrote.

But her husband has stuck by her side through all of it with his unwavering willingness to try and make her happy, even though she says she's "not the easiest person to deal with" and takes her anger out on him.

And his way of helping is through writing an adorable list of all the things he loves about his wife on their bedroom mirror. Among them? That she's his "best friend" and she lets him work on his "crazy" projects. Oh, and that she's gone to a strip club with him.

She later amended her post to say that her admitted depression isn't cured by a sweet note on a mirror.

Supernatural: Will Sam once again become Lucifer's vessel?

More: Supernatural: 5 Reasons Sam's totally going back to Lucifer's cage

As teased, Sam and Lucifer finally came face to face after so many years apart. After having an actual vision of Lucifer in the cage, Sam convinced Dean that going back into the cage is their best bet in defeating the Darkness. After all, the visions are from God — or are they? More on that in a bit. Eventually, the Winchesters get Crowley and Rowena in on their plan. With their help and Rowena's abilities to decode the Book of the Damned, they found a way for Sam and Lucifer to meet face-to-face in Hell without Sam actually having to step inside the cage.

Lucifer
Image: Tumblr

FYI, while Sam and Lucifer were being reunited, Dean was off having a moment with Amara, aka making out with her and learning that the two "will become one", whatever that means. I know, right? Anyways, back to Sam and his "roomie" Lucifer. Before I go any further, Lucifer's return and his entrance were beyond perfect. Let's give Mark Pellegrino the round of applause he truly deserves. With Season 7 being the last time Pellegrino played Lucifer, four seasons later and he still hasn't lost his touch.

OK. Back to the important stuff. Sam filled in Lucifer on the Darkness being released and the visions he's been receiving from God. Soon enough, Lucifer came up with a plan to help Sam — become his vessel once again and be his ride out of Hell. Wait, what? Lucifer wants Sam to be his vessel? Worst idea ever. Thankfully, Sam said no, which didn't sit well with Lucifer.

More: Supernatural insider teases real reason Sam's "imaginary friend" is back

The protection spell crafted by Rowena to hold Lucifer inside the cage disappeared. Next thing Sam knows is he's inside the cage with Lucifer and learns that God didn't send Sam the visions, but Lucifer did. When the Darkness was released, it broke the cage and then Lucifer decided to start sending Sam visions to convince him to break him free. There's no doubt Lucifer has style when it comes to crafting an evil plan. So, now what? Well, it seems Sam is stuck inside the cage with Lucifer, until he agrees to be his vessel.

Lucifer
Image: Tumblr

Sam becoming Lucifer's vessel is not an option. Even if Lucifer was there when God sealed up the Darkness and he knows how to defeat her, there has to be another way rather than the vessel route. As fans know, bad things happened last time Sam said "yes" to Lucifer, aka he ended up in the cage.

Here's hoping Crowley and Rowena inform Dean what's going on, so he can rescue Sammy. Or, you know, maybe God could finally show his face and fix everything once and for all. I, for one, can't handle another "Swan Song" moment. Who's with me?

Chris Brown was a white hot mess on Taraji & Terrence's White Hot Holidays

What Henson and Howard also have, of course, is a bevy of high profile friends willing to perform on the pair's very first Christmas special. And while many of those performances were nothing short of spectacular (Mrs. LaBelle, I'm looking at you), at least one performance of the night most decidedly did not pan out as planned — Chris Brown's.

I feel a little Grinch-y even saying it but, c'mon. If you watched, you know what I'm talking about.

Chris Brown 8

But before we delve into what went wrong, let's take a moment to celebrate what went right. As for the special overall, I thought Henson and Howard were very charming. Howard even managed to make it through the entire night with saying something completely mind-boggling.

Which brings us to Chris Brown. On the plus side, his fancy footwork at the start of his performance reminded me how seamlessly he can move. It's an art, really.

More: Chris Brown's daughter steals the spotlight with an adorable dance (VIDEO)

Then he began singing, and I have to say I was puzzled. It's not that I'm not a fan of the song he started with, "Back to Sleep." It just seemed an odd choice for a Christmas special, what with the lyrics being "Just let me rock, f**k you back to sleep, girl." Granted, he gave the clean version on stage. Yet it still seemed completely out of sync with the whole holly, jolly vibe of the show.

After singing a few lines from that, though, he segued into "This Christmas." Er, sort of. To be honest, I'm not sure what was happening. I thought he simply lost his lyrics, but the Twitterverse had plenty of other theories as well.

While many of these could legitimately explain Brown's sub-par performance (except for Ursula taking his voice, though I do love a good Little Mermaid reference), it appears that Brown is at least partially laying claim to only one: being sick.

Personally, I find the whole "under the weather" line to be vague at best. It sounds like he knew he didn't perform well and perhaps there is more to the story. Could something actually be up with Brown's voice that he isn't telling us?

More: Rihanna and Chris Brown's leaked single's lyrics are super inappropriate

Here's more fuel to add to that fire. Brown just announced that in support of his new album, Royalty, he is planning to hit the road for an "intimate" concert series. And by intimate, he clearly means oddly scaled back — thus far, the entire series consists of only three shows.

Is Brown losing his voice, as many fans are speculating after tonight's strange performance? Or did he just forget the lyrics to the song? Whatever the case may be, you've got to give the guy credit for persevering. He may not have had the voice to back it tonight, but it seemed like he was singing his heart out.

Here's hoping the holidays bring Brown some downtime to sip eggnog somewhere and give those tired vocal chords a very merry rest.

In 2008, Prince headlined Coachella and surprised everyone by covering Radiohead's "Creep." I wasn't there, but according to everyone everywhere who knows anything about music, it was one of those amazing, you-really-should've-been-there moments.

Anyone who was there and had the sense to record the performance quickly shared their videos on YouTube. But Prince said "no" because a) he's Prince, b) he's a fickle creative genius and c) he thinks the internet is a flash in the pan.

He told The Daily Mirror in 2010, "The internet's completely over. I don't see why I should give my new music to iTunes or anyone else. They won't pay me an advance for it and then they get angry when they can't get it. The internet's like MTV. At one time MTV was hip and suddenly it became outdated. Anyway, all these computers and digital gadgets are no good."

If I didn't already love The Purple One, I do now.

Now that it's 2015, he may have changed his mind about the internet. Or maybe Thom Yorke, lead singer of Radiohead and a fellow YouTube hater, finally got Prince to change his mind.

"Well, tell him to unblock it. It's our ... song," said Thom Yorke when he learned of Prince's decision to pull all live footage of his 2008 Coachella performance from the Internet.

Either way, the YouTube video of the performance that was posted in October has gotten the ultimate royal blessing in the form of a tweet.

Personally, I love his pose in this picture. It's almost like he's saying, "Fine, Interwebs, I give up! The masses shall have 'Creep.'"

But like most creative geniuses and women, he has the right to change his mind. If you want to see it, get it while it's posted!

Don't fall for these kitchen gadget gift ideas (VIDEO)

Yeah, Alton Brown ain't down with that.

It's so tempting to ask for these crazy kitchen items for Christmas. Like, you obviously wouldn't buy yourself a Bundt cake pan that looks like Hogwarts (I mean, when was the last time you made a Bundt cake?), but that doesn't mean you don't sort of want one. And what about a device that helps you slice bananas? I mean, sure, you usually just use a knife, but the special tool just looks so darn neat.

But in this hilarious video, Alton Brown calls out these uni-taskers for being, well, useless. Not only do they take up a whole lot of space, but they're also not great at doing what it is they're supposed to do, according to the Amazon reviews Alton reads. You had one job, Rollie egg maker!

While I was growing up, my mom had everything from a funnel cake-making kit and a bloomin' onion maker to a set of turnover presses, and 15 years later, they are still taking up space in her cupboards, not being used. So this holiday season, I urge you to take Alton's advice and cross the weird kitchen gadgets off your Christmas list. Don't even think about getting your mother-in-law that meatball roller, and no matter how badly you think you need a machine whose only function is to simultaneously heat a hot dog and toast a bun, trust us, you don't.

There is nothing quite so special as swapping pregnancy stories, comparing baby bumps and trading maternity clothes with a sister.

Jill and Jessa Duggar Pregnancy

Jill and Jessa Duggar Pregnancy

When filming the premiere episode of Jill & Jessa: Counting On, Jessa was pregnant with her first child with husband Ben Seewald — a son named Spurgeon, who was born on Nov. 5. Her older sister Jill and her husband, Derick Dillard, had recently welcomed their son Israel, who was born on April 6.

In this sweet clip, the sisters talk about their baby bumps, and Jill shares just how “massive” she felt during her pregnancy.

“You are not as big as I was,” she says to younger sister Jessa.

“Yes, I am.” Jessa laughs while holding her bump. “I just wear lots of dark colors.”

Also seen in this clip is Jill, who is a licensed midwife, using a fetal Doppler to check the baby’s heartbeat and examining Jessa’s baby bump. Jessa also touches on their parenting style, explaining that she and Ben differ a little on how they will approach parenting their new baby.

In a previously released clip, the sisters and their siblings share the hardship they’ve experienced surrounding older brother Josh’s child molestation and infidelity scandals. During this season of the Duggar family’s life, fans have struggled to maintain their loyalty, and many have attacked the family for their decisions.

But watching two sisters talk raising kids, it's hard not to relate. Cousin relationships are every bit as important as sibling relationships and last just as long for our kids. Who doesn’t love the idea of raising a family alongside their sister?

We can’t help but think how comforting it must have been to share something as special as pregnancy with a sister during such a difficult time.

More: Jessa Duggar & Ben Seewald welcome first baby right on time

In a new clip for the show, which premieres this Sunday, Jessa is seen contorted with labor pains while her husband, Ben Seewald, holds her in an attempt to comfort her.

Jessa had to be taken to the hospital since she was experiencing heavy bleeding.

"The mother is bleeding after birth. We need her checked out," Michelle Duggar can be heard telling a 911 operator in the new clip.

The sneak peek also previews her departure from her house on a stretcher with paramedics. She was rushed to the hospital where she gave birth to her first child, a baby boy named Spurgeon, after two days in labor.

Recalling the birth, Jessa told the cameras, "It was just like a bad dream, like, 'How could this happen?'"

Luckily, both mother and baby came out of the experience healthy and happy. But Spurgeon was an exceptionally large baby. He weighed 9 pounds, 11 ounces and was 21-1/4 inches long. Not a Duggar record, but close.

"Life over the past four months has been pretty crazy for my family," Jessa says to the cameras.

Not only has Jessa had her first baby, but the family has also dealt with the scandals surrounding the eldest Duggar son, Josh. Josh's wife, Anna, will also be featured in Jill & Jessa: Counting On, and it's clear from the promos that the family won't be shying away from their brother's scandals.

I always believed I was pretty, until I started acting

In Julia Baird's opinion piece for The New York Times titled "Being Honest About Ugliness," she talks about Australian author Robert Hoge, who calls himself "the ugliest person you've never met." Now that may sound like an awful way to think of oneself, but Hoge doesn't see it like that. He came to terms with his ugliness very early in life, and decided that he would not let it be his one defining characteristic, even though his parents initially refused to take him home from the hospital because of it.

MoreGirls ask YouTube viewers "Am I ugly?"

As such, he says, while it may feel like the right thing to do in the moment, it's dangerous for parents to tell their children that looks don't matter, because that's simply not true. If they're disillusioned like that, they'll have to learn the hard way once they're out in the unforgiving world. "Don’t tell kids they’re all beautiful; tell them it’s O.K. to look different," Hoge told The New York Times.

Now while I agree with Hoge's notion that you should be honest with children about what the world has in store for them, I think kindness and support from your family should always be given freely. Having people who give you positive reinforcement helps make you a stronger person when you come into your own. However, there is something to be said for giving too much, and thus making your child think they're perfect and capable of anything.

I grew up being told almost every day by my parents that I was beautiful. It didn't matter if I was dressed for the prom, or wearing my retainer and pimple cream and ready for bed — they always made me feel like I was the prettiest thing on earth.

MoreBrave women are posting photos of themselves dancing on social media

Now I'm not saying that all this positive reinforcement made me impervious to the usual teenage frustrations one feels over their body. I wanted smaller thighs, bigger boobs and a lot fewer pimples, but I was pretty certain I'd come out beautiful on the other end of adolescence. Especially because I had dreams of being an actress.

Sure enough, once I made it to high school, I started looking good. Boys noticed me, I wore clothes well, and I began starring in all the school plays. I gained confidence, which probably helped me look even more attractive. So finally I thought I was ready to start going on professional auditions.

And everything changed. It was like the color in the world had drained away to reveal a starkness I had never known before. All the girls auditioning alongside me were prettier, thinner and better dressed than I was. They walked with an air of haughtiness that was levels beyond my natural confidence. I felt like a random wildflower in a room full of perfect roses. I didn't know what I was doing there, but I knew I didn't belong.

MoreThis woman has a message for people who shamed her makeup selfie

I didn't let the shock of reality beat me though. Over the years, my confidence came slowly back, and I started booking roles. However, I never fully got away from that feeling that I'm not pretty enough to be a professional actress. And while I love my parents for telling me I'm beautiful, I think their support left me ill-equipped to deal with the idea that there will always be prettier people in the entertainment business.

I have reconciled with that now, just as Hoge reconciled with his appearance. Today, I still think I'm beautiful, but more importantly, I recognize that's only a small part of what I have to offer. So parents, never be stingy with your love for your kids, but don't shield them from the expectations of the world either. It's better they learn what they're up against while they're in your arms rather than on a casting call line.

More: Ben Affleck's reportedly pursuing a newly single A-list actress

But there's still time for it to also become the year of new celebrity relationships. Affleck might be next to join that list.

He and co-star Miller started the rumor mill turning with photos that leaked showing the two holding hands on the set of their new movie, Live By Night.

In the photo, Miller is wearing her 1920s-inspired costume for the film, and Affleck appears dressed casually to direct. Miller is holding Affleck's hand tightly, sparking the rumors that the two may be the next hottest couple to hit Hollywood.

But a source insisted to E! News that the photo may not be what it appears.

"He is directing her and his movie — a movie in which he stars in," the insider reportedly said. "So while they not only share scenes, he directs her."

The source added, "He also directs others in this movie, [but] no one seems to be interested in those photos with him and his male co-stars."

Of course, a lot of the interest in the possibility of a relationship between the two stars stems from both of them having ended their long-term relationships this year — Affleck divorced from Jennifer Garner in June after 10 years of marriage, and Miller ended her three-year engagement to Tom Sturridge in July. Could we have another Blake Shelton/Gwen Stefani situation on our hands?

Regardless of what's going on in Affleck's romantic life, sources say he continues to put his family first, and that he's been seen "out with the family since he came back to shoot in LA."

Roald Dahl favourite The BFG is being made into a film (WATCH)

More: Which Edward Scissorhands character are you? (QUIZ)

For those who don’t know — and you’ve missed out — "The BFG", which was first published in 1982, tells the tale of 10-year-old Sophie, who meets the Big Friendly Giant (or rather, he plucks her out of her orphanage bed one night). Sophie and the BFG join forces to defeat the evil giants invading England, even enlisting the help of the Queen of England.

In the film adaptation, newcomer Ruby Barnhill plats Sophie, Wolf Hall’s Mark Rylance plays the BFG, and Dowton Abbey’s Mrs. Crawley, Penelope Wilton, plays the Queen.

Academy Award-winning director Steven Spielberg is the mastermind behind the adaptation, which is Spielberg's first stint at directing a children's film for Disney. Spielberg said he realised how important it was for Dahl’s books to "empower the children" and show that "even a little girl can help a big giant solve his biggest problems". The screenplay is by the late Melissa Mathison, who worked with Spielberg E.T: the Extra-Terrestrial — so the chances of The BFG being another timeless family film are high.

More: Josh Duggar may have left rehab

An emotional new clip from the Duggar family's spinoff special, Jill and Jessa: Counting On, shows two of Josh's younger brothers speaking about how the scandal has affected their views of their former role model.

"After everything kind of just started to settle down from the first release of stuff in the news about Josh, we got word of a second thing that we had no clue about," John-David says about the Ashley Madison cheating scandal that broke soon after news that Josh had molested underage girls as a teenager. "That was a little bit more of a shock, probably, than the first stuff coming out, because you look at your brother and you want to think the best about him."

Josh Duggar's brothers speak out

Josh Duggar's brothers speak out

His brother Joseph adds, "Even after the first thing that came out, when he was younger, I never had quite as close of a relationship as I did when I was really young. After time, it built back up. But whenever this next situation came up, it blew my mind. I had no idea."

More: Amy Duggar's husband responds to the CMAs dig against Josh Duggar

Joseph fights back tears as he continues, "I don't think there's any way that any of us could have known that my brother was living such a secret life. Just whenever somebody you respect the most is willing to get up and proclaim what we believe as Christians about being true to your wife — you never would expect that person to be the one that's involved in it, and it broke my heart."

But John-David really sums up the impact Josh's actions have had on his relationships with his siblings.

"I know that I've got a whole bunch of younger siblings looking up to me, and I've got to be an example to them, because whatever I am, that's what they want to be. I know that's what it was for me and Josh," he says. "One of the toughest things I ever had to tell my older brother was, 'I don't want to be like you anymore.'"
