Music 101: The Heirs reveal the female musicians who have impacted their sound

0

The faces of the band include Brandon Hudson (on vocals, guitar and bass) and Savannah Hudson (on vocals, guitar and keys); but onstage, The Heirs' undeniable energy is also largely credited to three other members: Daniel Mcmains (guitar/synth), Eric Sampson (bass/synth) and Chase Meyer (drums).

The Heirs may only have one EP, comprising four tracks, but it's enough to make them one of our artists to watch out for in 2016. In fact, before you read the rest of this interview we conducted with Savannah, please do yourself a favor and listen to "Lies" off their new EP Ecliptic (admittedly, our favorite track off the EP).

The Heirs

The Heirs

They're pretty great, right? Now get to know the band a little better before you stream the rest of the album on Spotify.

SheKnows: For those who are hearing of The Heirs for the first time, describe your music in a couple words.

Savannah Hudson: Neon electropop.

SK: What's one live show that completely changed you and left a lasting impact on you?

SH: We played a sold-out show here in LA at the Roxy in August, and it was such a magical night for us. First of all, being in our hometown for a show is always special, but we were able to do a lot of the things we had envisioned for The Heirs live show, from the lights to the roses onstage, the fog and low 808s being extra-loud. It was all how we envisioned it — just a magical time. Also, all of our close friends were there, and LA's Wishbone Clan was there, so it was extra-wonderful. We try and make every show an experience, so they are all super special to us. But that one definitely went down in our journals as a special night.

SK: What are a few songs you currently can't stop listening to? What other bands and artists have influenced your sound?

SH: I'm currently in an interesting phase musically as [to] what I'm listening to. Lots of '80s music from New Order to Flock of Seagulls to Bowie — also the Beach Boys and Led Zeppelin. I'm loving this band called Wolf Alice; their record is immaculate. Excited for the new The 1975 record. Also, this new track by Nikki and the Dove called "Play It on My Radio" is my jam! Constant new music in our house and in our ears.

SK: Who are some newer artists you wish more people knew about or listened to?

SH: There's a band called LANY — they have some pretty sweet tracks. Wolf Alice, the band I mentioned before. Beach House is wonderful.

LANY

LANY

SK: Who is the biggest female influence in your life, and what would you tell her?

SH: Ever since I was a kid, Stevie Nicks captured my heart and soul with her enchanting voice and Gypsy ways. She has been such a timeless woman and is still on the road killing the game. Her writing is beautiful and her heart seems like a beautiful old bird that has been flying for years and knows the sky so well. I would absolutely freak out if I were able to even talk to her for a moment and just have a normal conversation.

SK: If you were to put together an entire playlist of female artists who have influenced your work, who would you put on it?

SH: Oh my goodness, there's so many incredible female artists. Well, I would start with Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac. The record Rumors influenced Brandon and I tremendously in our writing and harmonious melodies. Janis Joplin is the baddest around. Joni Mitchell is an absolute love and her writing inspires me daily. Joan Jett makes me wanna jump around and scream. Blondie, Björk, Beyoncé... ahh there's too many. But that's a good little chunk.

SK: More women, including musicians such as Lauren Mayberry of Chvrches, are fighting back against online misogyny and sexism. Do you feel this has been a long time coming? Have you experienced anything similar, and if so, how did you handle it?

SH: I think it definitely has been a long time coming. I personally haven't experienced that yet directly. However, I feel strongly it's important for women, especially young girls, to be confident in who they are and be empowered to say what they believe no matter what. It's the only way we can move past these kinds of issues in the future.

More: The Jungle Giants' Cesira Aitken talks misogynistic trolls & St. Vincent

SK: What's been the biggest challenge to getting where you are now, and how did you overcome it?

SH: I think the whole journey of being in the music business is a tough one, but it's wonderful and empowering. The fact that women are such a prominent asset in this industry is incredible. It's a never-ending process of growing and learning and meeting new people. You just have to stay strong and do the art you believe in and not let anyone tell you any differently. I'm still a teenager, and I find myself making mistakes and learning new things every day. I hope that never changes.

SK: What advice do you have for kids trying to make it in the music industry?

SH: I would say to just stick to the art you love and always go for your strongest passion. Never settle and never let anyone tell you you can't do something because of your sex or age or looks. Let your art speak for itself and believe it in your mind that it's going to make a difference. Say it to yourself daily, write down your goals, look at them, meditate on them and always keep moving forward.

SK: Is there anything else you'd like to add?

SH: Thank you so much for featuring me in your article. Being a woman is something that I'm proud of and is something that all women should embrace and love. We are all equal, so share the love and continue making art.

Nicki Minaj's brother accused of a horrific crime

Jelani Maraj, the older brother of Minaj, was arrested on charges of raping a child, a source told Newsday.

Maraj was arraigned on charges of first-degree rape and first-degree course of sexual contact against a child, with the source adding that the victim was just 12 years old.

"The victim was someone he had access to," another insider told the New York Daily News.

Minaj and Maraj are by all accounts extremely close, and Minaj even footed the bill for her brother's $30,000 wedding to bride Jacqueline Robinson last August at the Coral House on Milburn Lake in Baldwin, New York.

"I would cross the ocean for u. I would go & bring u the moon. Promise u. For u I will. I love my brother so much man," she continued. "Can't believe I cried during his wedding and his first dance like a punk. May God bless him and his union. Tonight has been one of my favorite nights of all time. I do anything to see my brother smile."

Maraj was freed from the Nassau county jail on $100,000 bond. He is due back in court on Dec. 9.

You have to find your voice and find your purpose before it's too late."

Minaj has not yet commented on her brother’s serious legal woes.

The Wiz: 7 Interesting facts about the dogs who played Toto

0
0

The choreography was on point, the costumes were awesome and the performances were, well — let's just say that every last member of The Wiz Live!'s cast has a massive set of pipes on them.

The only thing that left audience members disappointed was the fact that Dorothy's dear little Toto never made it to Oz. The dog pranced around onstage in Kansas, but was sorely missed in the middle of the production. Toto instantly stole everyone's hearts and left fans wanting more.

More: The Wiz Live! accused of racism: Are people being serious or trolling?

Besides the fact that Toto is beyond adorable, here are some things to know about the pooch who played him.

1. There's actually more than one

Toto trainer tweet 4

Taking a page from the Olsen twins' book in Full House, The Wiz Live! had two little dogs learning lines and choreography for the role of Toto. 11-year-old Cairn Terrier Scooter was the dog you saw onstage and Ralphie, who is the same age and breed as Scooter, served as the understudy.

2. They have a famous trainer

Toto trainer tweet 2

Bill Berloni, the man who helped Scooter and Ralphie hit their marks, also trained the dog who played Nana on Peter Pan Live! last year, and he has been coaching canines in Broadway plays since 1977, according to The Wrap.

3. They are rescue dogs

He's not just their trainer, he's their dad! Berloni adopted Scooter and Ralphie from Cairn Rescue USA — a nonprofit organization dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and re-homing purebred Cairn Terriers and mostly-Cairn mixes — just a few months before The Wiz Live! aired in December.

4. They were destined to be stars

Shanice Williams tweet 2

"I went out to temperament-test them and the unusual thing was, they were 10 years old, and I thought they might be a little too old for the show," Berloni said in an interview via This Dog's Life. "But when I met them, they were happy and well-trained and housebroken and energetic and I thought, here are two senior dogs who are going to be stars."

It's a pretty crazy turnaround for a senior dog, from pound puppy to rubbing elbows with Queen Latifah, Mary J. Blige, Uzo Aduba, Ne-Yo and Common.

5. They are total divas

6. They have a huge family now

Scooter and Ralphie will now live with Berloni on his ranch in Connecticut with close to 30 other dogs, according to This Dog's Life.

7. They didn't get stage fright

When Scooter and Ralphie rehearsed, they didn't have to soothe a case of opening-day jitters. "They don’t know what an audience is, they don’t know what TV is — all they know is who feeds them, who loves them and, ‘What do I have to do to get a cookie?" said Berloni.

Supergirl's new villain may become the best character on the show

More: Chasing Life fans are heartbroken over its cancellation

Entertainment Tonight reports Italia Ricci is joining Supergirl in a villainous new role. That's right, sweet April Carver is becoming even more of a badass. Ricci is taking on the major recurring part of Siobhan Smythe, the latest hire by Cat Grant at CatCo. In addition to being a work nemesis for Kara, Siobhan soon turns into DC villain Silver Banshee. She'll first appear in Episode 14.

How exciting is that? Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg agrees with me as he told ET in a statement, "We are so excited to be working with Italia. We've been a fan of her work for years and we cannot wait to see her take on this iconic comic book role."

For those who aren't familiar with Silver Banshee, per ET, she has "superhuman strength, speed, endurance, agility, an impressive ability to resist attacks and a gift for languages." If that isn't enough, she also possesses sonic-based abilities used to weaken her victims.

More: Supergirl vs. Jessica Jones: Why one superhero is way better than the other

If anyone can make Supergirl better, it's Ricci. Even though it's not a Chasing Life renewal, I'll take what I can get when it comes to Ricci returning to television. Ever since starring as cancer survivor April Carver, Ricci's proved she belongs on the small and/or big screen. Her talent is something to be admired and there's no doubt she'll be able to pull off Silver Banshee perfectly. Don't get me wrong, it's going to be a bit strange seeing her as a villain, but I cannot wait to see her evil side.

Plus, as much as I enjoy the weekly Supergirl villains, it'll be nice to see a recurring one in addition to Kara's aunt, Astra Zor-El. Not to mention, the more female empowerment on the show, the better. Also, who else is ready to see scenes with Ricci and Calista Flockhart? Here's hoping they have some amazing banter, because that will surely please fans.

Who else is even more pumped to watch Supergirl, thanks to Ricci?

Supergirl airs Mondays at 8/7c on CBS.

Vicki Gunvalson’s family wants Brooks Ayers to face major consequences

0
0

Ayers left his The Real Housewives of Orange County co-stars and fans furious after it was revealed he forged medical documents purporting to prove he had received cancer treatments at California medical center City of Hope — and he left his former partner Vicki Gunvalson humiliated. Now her family wants him to pay.

More: The Real Housewives of Orange County's Heather Dubrow goes on a heated rant about Vicki Gunvalson

According to Radar Online, Gunvalson's family is gunning for justice, and they want Ayers prosecuted for falsifying medical records.

California law states that "any person who alters or modifies the medical record of any person, with fraudulent intent, or who, with fraudulent intent, creates any false medical record, is guilty of a misdemeanor." The crime carries a maximum penalty of one year in jail.

And if Gunvalson's family has anything to say about it, Ayers will spend that year behind bars.

More: The Real Housewives of Orange County cast is on media lockdown over Brooks Ayers' cancer lies

"Vicki's family wants the City of Hope to have Brooks prosecuted," an insider told Radar Online.

"What he did was horrible and Vicki would absolutely cooperate with law enforcement. Cops and the district attorney's office would have a very clear path to conviction. Brooks is shown on camera with the faked documents, and later admitted he forged them."

It won't be too difficult to gather evidence. Ayers himself admitted that he forged the documents, although he stopped short of admitting he was lying about having cancer in the first place.

"Words cannot express the deep regret that I have in fabricating documents to 'prove' to the world that I, in fact, have cancer," he wrote in a public statement. "What I did was wrong and inexcusable. I acted alone, without Vicki's knowledge, to produce documents for a reality TV show in hopes of putting doubts about my cancer to rest. I never intended to disclose my actual medical records or details about my private and personal medical history, thus the rationalization of presenting documents that weren't true simply for a 'storyline' for the show."

Rather than respond to request for comment, Ayers has been busy retweeting nasty messages from RHOC fans against Gunvalson, calling her "pathological," "Arrogant and disingenuous" and a "POS." Stay classy, fella.

Paella just got a whole lot easier thanks to this slow cooker recipe

Slow cooker sausage and chicken paella is a treat at mealtime.
Image: Patricia Conte/SheKnows

Traditional Spanish dish paella just got easier while being super tasty. The slow cooker does practically all the work, and what you get is a fabulous and flavorful meal, all in one bowl.

I’ve combined a spicy sausage (I used andouille sausage made with Cajun seasonings, but you can use any type you like, including a spicy Italian sausage) with chicken, brown rice and flavorful seasonings for this delightful dish. Serve this when you know you'll have a long day or when you're craving a warm and comforting meal.

Dig into a flavorful meal that's easy to make. Slow cooker sausage and chicken paella is a delight!

Slow cooker sausage and chicken paella recipe

Serves 4-6

Prep time: 10 minutes | Cook time: 4 hours 10 minutes | Total time: 4 hours 20 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1-1/2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/4 cup white onion, diced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 pound boneless, skinless chicken breast, cut into bite-size pieces
  • 1/2 pound andouille sausage, cut into bite-size pieces
  • 8 ounces frozen vegetables (I used peas and carrots)
  • 1-1/2 cups uncooked brown rice
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 (14 ounce) can diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano
  • Nonstick cooking spray

Directions:

  1. Lightly spray the inside of the slow cooker with the nonstick cooking spray.
  2. To a large skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil. Add the onion, and cook for 2 minutes. Add the garlic, and cook for 30 seconds.
  3. Add the chicken, and cook until browned. Add the sausage to the skillet to brown (leave the chicken in the skillet; just move it to the side). Transfer the sausage-chicken mixture to the slow cooker. Add the frozen vegetables and rice on top.
  4. Add the black pepper, cayenne, turmeric and oregano to the water, and mix to combine. Add the water, broth and tomatoes to the mixture.
  5. Cover, and cook on low heat for 4 hours.
  6. Stir, and serve warm.

Fargo theories: Who may — and may not — be alive in Season 3

0
0

Of course, Hawley’s keeping quiet on which characters he’s planning to bring back. Though based on the body counts of the first two seasons, there aren’t too many to choose from. Here are some thoughts about who we might encounter again.

1. Lou Solverson

The most obvious theory is, of course, Lou.

Lou Solverson tweet

Lou Solverson tweet

He was a recurring character in Season 1, and he’s the central character of Season 2. We’ve learned a lot about him in the last two years, and Season 3 very well might continue his journey. Then again, nothing on Fargo is ever as it appears to be, so we might not want to bank on what seems to be the clearest prediction.

2. Molly Solverson

Lou’s daughter Molly was a central character of Season 1, and her childhood self appears throughout Season 2. Molly is also a fan favorite — as soon as Hawley teased that a familiar character would return, viewers took to social media to make their desire known.

Molly Solverson tweet 1

Molly Solverson tweet 1

Molly Solverson tweet 2

Molly Solverson tweet 2

Molly Solverson tweet 3

Molly Solverson tweet 3

Surely, no one would object to seeing this badass, feminist chief of police return in Season 3. But, again, the fan love — and the fact that her character has already appeared in both seasons — may make her too obvious of a choice.

3. Gus Grimly

Molly’s husband, and the police officer who most closely follows in Lou’s footsteps, is another logical choice for a returning character. He was the hero of Season 1, being the person to catch and kill criminal Lorne Malvo. Fargo will always be a crime drama first and foremost, and a character like Gus will always have a place in the universe of the show.

More: Fargo's Season 2 will return on FX with all-new cast

4. Greta Grimly

From Lou and Molly’s loving and supportive dynamic to Dodd and Simone Gerhardt’s terrifyingly abusive one, father-daughter relationships are a recurring motif in Fargo. It stands to reason, then, that the trend would continue in Season 3, giving Gus’s daughter Greta a starring role. Her appearances in Season 1 were relatively minor, but with Season 3 being set farther in the future, Greta will have grown up since Season 1 and is sure to be embarking on her own adventures. And let’s not forget that in Season 1, Greta was played by Joey King, one of the fastest rising teen stars around. It would behoove Hawley to find a way to bring her back.

5. Fawn Knudsen

The name might ring a bell to Coen brothers fans, but Fawn hasn’t actually appeared in Fargo before. Rather, she’s the character better known as Bunny Lebowski from the Coen classic The Big Lebowski. And while there is no proof that The Big Lebowski and Fargo occupy the same universe, there are some hints that Bunny/Fawn may be one character to straddle the two. For one, she’s said to have grown up in Moorhead, Minnesota, which is much closer geographically to Fargo, North Dakota, than either Bemidji, Minnesota, (where Season 1 was set) or Luverne, Minnesota, (where Season 2 is set). You might also remember that one of the police officers in Season 1 was a man by the name of — you guessed it — Knudsen. It might be a long shot, but let’s keep our eyes peeled for Tara Reid career news in the coming months.

More: Fargo just cast a megastar for Season 2 — you'll never guess who

6. Mike Milligan

This one might be disproven very soon — Season 2 hasn’t ended yet, and it’s all too likely that Mike will end up in the final body count. But who doesn’t want to see what this smooth-talking gangster would be up to 30 years after the events of Season 2? If anyone besides Lou and Molly survive Season 2 to make it to Season 3, let’s hope it’s Mike.

7. The UFOs

Remember the sighting that Rye Gerhardt sees in the sky before he is killed? The flying saucer that makes an oh-so-brief appearance at the start of Season 2? This has been one of the foggiest plot points of Season 2, and it’s likely that fans would appreciate an explanation — or, at least, some more exploration — come Season 3.

Who do you think is coming back in Fargo Season 3?

"Cold as Ice" will also be the show's season 7 midseason finale and while it may be holiday-themed, don't expect the episode to be all that cheery. Per The CW's synopsis, the episode takes place as the holidays are in full swing and the Salvatore brothers (Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley) are on the hunt for Julian (Todd Lasance). Their search leads them to a small town that sits near Mystic Falls, as seen below.

Brandi Glanville reveals why she's returning to 'abusive' RHOBH

0
0

Not that we're complaining that Glanville has filmed scenes for the reality show's sixth season — a little wine throwing never killed anybody, right? — it's just a bit curious that she was lured her back to the program and cast that she previously likened to an "abusive boyfriend."

But, as it turns out, Glanville has a specific, one-word, very green reason for jumping back into the RHOBH action.

More: Brandi Glanville slammed for wearing offensive shirt around Kim Richards (PHOTO)

"Money," she bluntly told People magazine at the Season 6 premiere party this week when asked why she decided to return.

Glanville reportedly only filmed scenes with Yolanda Foster and Kim Richards for the upcoming season — could it be because the rest of the cast refused to film with her?

The theory would explain her recent sympathy for Real Housewives of Orange County star Vicki Gunvalson, whose castmates are said to be currently refusing to film with the OG of the O.C. because of her ex-boyfriend's very public fake cancer scandal.

"I just though she got a bad rap," Glanville previously said to People regarding Gunvalson's feud with the other O.C. Houswives. "Without her and Brooks this season, they wouldn't have had a storyline, and now they're saying they don't want to shoot with her? It disgusts me!"

This also isn't the first time Glanville has been so candid about cash being the reason for being willing to take her reality-TV lashings.

"[Bravo] said to me, 'We think if you sign up [again], you'll just be doing it for the money," she said in an September interview. "And that's the only reason I ever did it, was for the money!"

In the same interview, Glanville also ensured that her Season 6 presence on RHOBH will be super tense by basically bashing all of her fellow Housewives.

"Well, if you think about the women who are on the show," Glanville said, "They're all rich already... the only thing that you can't buy is fame. Ultimately, I think they signed up because they all lust for this fame drug."

Are you excited for Glanville's return, or do you think she should find another way to make money?

6 Best false eyelash sets according to a pro makeup artist

0
0

In order to achieve this wide-eyed, sensual look the majority of us will arm ourselves with a great volume and length-boosting mascara, but also might consider taking our makeup game to the next level. This means experimenting with false eyelashes for special occasions or simply because we feel having gorgeous lashes will make our Sunday grocery shopping routine a little more special.

But where to begin?

False eyelashes are a dime a dozen and can be purchased at every price point. Some are made from human hair, others are synthetic, and quite a few are now crafting theirs from mink fur. To the untrained eye, it can be difficult to choose one set of lashes over another — they all start to look the same, don't they? But bridal hair and makeup artist Molly Leahy from Blushing Brides has used a variety of false lashes on clients, knows what makes a great set stand apart from the rest, and has narrowed down her favorites to six false eyelash brands that are both affordable and long-lasting.

1. House of Lashes

House of Lashes

They may be a bit pricier than drugstore lashes, but Leahy says they're worth the extra cost because they can be reused multiple times over and still look brand new. "A slightly thicker band makes application a breeze and they have everything from very natural to extremely glam," Leahy says. "The Kardashians can be seen sporting these on Instagram a lot. These are only sold online at their website." (House of Lashes, between $10-$12).

2. Ardell Double Up

These drugstore-brand lashes are extremely affordable and perfect for people who love to experiment with lots of different types of lashes and looks. "I like the double ups because they look like they have a really beautiful mascara on them, both with the individuals and the strips," Leahy says (CVS, $6).

3. Sephora Brand Lashes

If you're looking to simplify your makeup routine, Leahy suggests Sephora Brand Lashes, which cut down on the time it takes you to apply mascara on top of false lashes so that they look more natural. "[These are] jet black so they give your eyes an added pop without having to add an extra coat of mascara," Leahy says (Sephora, $10).

4. Laura Mercier False Lashes

Minimalists or ladies who prefer not to look all glammed up will flip for Laura Mercier lashes, which Leahy says are neither too long, nor too thick. "These are the perfect lashes for blondes or anyone who wants a more natural looking lash," she says (Nordstrom, $18).

5. Kardashian Beauty Lashes

If Kim Kardashian is your beauty inspiration for all things eyelashes, you're in luck: These glam lashes get her stamp of approval. "These lashes are the same brand that Kim K. wore on her wedding day so you know they look good," Leahy says. "Plus they have a small band so you don't need to worry about lining it up a little off." (Ulta, $7).

6. MAC Lashes

It's hard to beat MAC Cosmetics when it comes to giving women a truly versatile collection of false lashes that suit the needs of both natural beauties and glamour girl divas. "They come in all shapes and sizes and have a very thin band which can make application slightly difficult but they look incredibly natural," Leahy says. "I would recommend the demi lashes for just the outer corners or to buy a pair, cut them in half and then apply one half at a time for easier application." (MAC Cosmetics, $17).

Mama June is declaring war against TLC and the Duggars

Here Comes Honey Boo Boo was canceled after it was revealed family matriarch June Shannon — aka Mama June — was accused of cheating on Sugar Bear with convicted child molester Mark McDaniel. 19 Kids and Counting was also canceled when it was uncovered that Josh Duggar molested several young girls, including his own sisters — but the family was then given a spinoff supposedly focusing on sisters Jessa and Jill.

Now Mama June is calling out the network for their hypocrisy.

"TLC does some crazy stuff," she ranted to Radar Online. "Jill and Jessa are going back on TV. Don't tell me the Duggars aren't going to be a part of that. They are working the Duggars back on TV in their own secret way."

"TLC took everything from us," she said. "They took so much away from the girls. Their bodyguards. They made them leave. The Duggars had security for weeks after they were canceled."

"They took out the two people who had been in my kids' lives for three years. If you were concerned about my kids, then why did you do that?"

More: Mama June to TLC: Cancel 19 Kids and Counting or else

It's not just the Duggars Mama June has a problem with — turns out TLC has big plans for Kate Gosselin too.

"They are bringing Kate Plus 8 and they told me she was the worst person to work for and they were never going to bring her back," she claimed. "I can't believe TLC is bringing her back."

Mama June, who is trying to repair her relationship with Sugar Bear on the counseling TV show, Marriage Boot Camp Reality Stars, also denied that anything sexual happened between her and McDaniel.

"Mark's not an issue. I'm not with him. I'm not dating him, I never have. I honestly will feel better once the show comes out and the truth is revealed. The TRUTH. Not just me saying it, the truth."

Do you think Here Comes Honey Boo Boo should get another chance like the Duggars have? Sound off in the comments below.

Kim Zolciak's daughter's bikini post creates photoshop backlash (PHOTO)

Just like her reality star mom, Kim Zolciak, Brielle appreciates the art of Instagram, is beautiful and blonde, knows how to have a good time, loves to post about her grooming habits, and has absolutely no qualms hocking products for Perfect Skin or Express Smile Atlanta on social media.

Brielle posted a bikini selfie on Friday that showed all of the Instagram skills she learned from Kim.

But her good looks and penchant for perfect selfie-posing aren't they only things Brielle seems to have inherited from Kim. It also looks like the younger Zolciak has been bequeathed with all of her mother's Internet haters, because Instagram commenters were out in full force and ready to accuse Brielle of photoshopping her latest pic.

"Willing to bet money this is photoshopped," wrote one Instagram user, while another echoed, "This is definitely photoshopped. Might want to take down the other photos where you are in this same swimsuit on the same day. Her whole body is shaped smaller in the photo."

As we already know Kim is constantly battling social media users insanely cruel comments about her appearance on Instagram and has faced the same kind of photoshop allegations that Brielle is facing now.

One Instagram user was not about to let others shame Brielle and very appropriately reminded fellow followers that they are shaming a teenage girl.

"Shes (sic) an 18 year old girl (sic), they have bodies like that, just go to any beach and see for yourself," the Instagram user wrote, adding, "Just because her moms (sic) famous, does not give everyone a right to sit here and scrutinize and pick apart a TEENAGER. Do yall (sic) not think she has feelings too?!?"

This isn't the first time Brielle has caught flak on social media. Back in November, followers were very vocal about the amount of cleavage she showed in a family picture, and Brielle got some major blowback the same month for a post in which she admitted to having plastic surgery work done on her lips.

Hand-knit purses may not seem like the most profitable business venture, but savvy businesswoman Oliver has discovered that, equipped with the right story and a team of amazing employees, it is possible to accomplish just about anything. Her handbag company has already achieved impressive growth and is now ready to move on to the next level. This business is unique not only in that it offers hand-knit purses, but also because the vast majority of its employees are over 80 years old!

They've been on Medicare for multiple decades, but the seniors employed by Oliver aren't about to slow down. Their fast fingers earn them $17 an hour, as well as plenty of praise from their growing fan base. These lovely knitters are known as the Purlettes +1. They believe that work keeps them young, and if their youthful vigor is any indication, they know what they're talking about!

The Sharks — even those who frequently scoff at heartwarming ideas that might not be super profitable — seemed to be all in favor of Oliver's business model. Lori Greiner was especially enthusiastic about the venture. She highlighted the tendency of today's young and middle-aged adults to forget to honor the many contributions of their elders. According to Greiner, Oliver is helping to make a group of very talented knitters feel valued.

Fans had good things to say about several of the business ventures featured during tonight's episode of Shark Tank, but they were by far the most complimentary of the Purlettes +1. Many shared their intention to buy purses from Sarah Oliver Handbags in order to support a good cause. Others were clearly excited to see future Shark Tank updates detailing the accomplishments of the Purlettes +1.

Touching stories of entrepreneurial success may be abundant on Shark Tank, but few are even close to as heartwarming as the tale of the Purlettes +1. Hopefully, by investing in Oliver's business and getting the word out via network television, the Sharks will give dozens of other seniors the opportunity to join the amazing Purlette community.

'Real-life Rapunzels' have never had haircuts... and they don't plan to

0

Why? These real-life Rapunzels have never cut their hair... ever.

It also started with 43-year-old Tere Lynn Svetlecich Russell. The Illinois has never cut her hair, which now measures in at 74 inches, and her decision to keep it long was influenced by her husband, Chip. He loves her long strands — and so does she — and so they've carried the tradition onto their three chidren. Daughter Callan's hair measures in at 37 inches, while Cendalyn's is 36 inches and Chesney's is 27 inches.

Each woman has a full, healthy-looking head of hair. We don't know what kind of magic potion they're drinking to keep it so healthy, but they do admit that it requires a ton of upkeep with each girl using at least a quarter bottle of conditioner each time they get in the shower. And while the three girls do wash their hair, Tera doesn't because there's just too much there to deal with.

Rapunzels

"I tried that once several years ago and my hair got so heavy with all of the water I landed on the shower floor," she told Barcroft TV.

The foursome even competes at long-hair competitions each year at the Illinois State Fair. Naturally, they always bring home the blue ribbons.

It's not surprising that none of them have visited a beauty salon. However, the brains behind Barcroft took them to their first salon visit in a not-so-subtle attempt to get them to chop some hair off for the camera. They weren't having it, but Tera said she's not going to stop her daughters from making their own decisions about their strands... when the time is right.

"It's not going to be my decision, it's going to be theirs," she said. "But I want them to be mature enough to make that decision for themselves."

In the mean time we have a request, ladies: Please write a book on hair care, because it seems like our hair never grows. We need the secrets!

5 reasons why Mama June and Sugar Bear will bring drama to Marriage Boot Camp

Mama June/Sugar Bear
Image: Facebook

1. Sex

You need a reason to come to Boot Camp, right? It can't just be because you're currently famous, or were once famous. The reason Mama June and Sugar Bear seem to be here is apparently because Sugar Bear cheated on her, although he claims he didn't and was in fact just talking to some ladies. (Jim and Elizabeth will obviously be getting to the bottom of that one.) Mama June has been really outspoken about her sex life in general, and tonight was no exception — she outright called her and Sugar Bear's sexual relationship "unsatisfying." Fans on Twitter were not into hearing about any of it — how will the other couples in the house feel?

2. They seem quiet... for now

Unlike the other couples — Benzino and Althea, for example — who started fighting the second they got into the house, Mama June and Sugar Bear were relatively low-key. While Sean and Catherine freaked out about everyone else's arguing, swearing and, um, side activities (Sarah and Ink are apparently into threesomes), the Honey Boo Boo cast members kept to themselves. This is reality TV, though, and a show that focuses on fighting with your significant other, so how long can that really last?

More: Hank Baskett's unexpected struggle has Kendra Wilkinson worried (VIDEO)

3. Mama June's past

Things that the couples would prefer to keep buried tend to come up on this show, and often quickly. (For example: In a matter of minutes after Friday's premiere began, we found out that Sundy and Benzino had had an affair in the past, which Cedric wasn't aware of.) It's unlikely that Jim, Elizabeth and their team will be able to help Mama June and Sugar Bear deal with their issues without dealing with the fact that Mama June was in a relationship with a convicted child molester. Talk about a hurdle to get over.

4. Catherine Lowe hearts Mama June

Sean is busy being scandalized by his cast mates, and might be plotting his exit, but meanwhile, Catherine is really excited to be on a show with Mama June. The Lowes seem to really enjoy judging the other couples so far and were hoping that they'd be more like them. (What does that mean?) Will they try to befriend Mama June and Sugar Bear, who Sean hopes are "normal"? What happens when both couples start talking (more) openly about why they're there? Will the Lowes be able to handle it?

5. You never know what could happen

On Twitter, fans were super excited about Mama June and Sugar Bear being on Marriage Boot Camp, convinced that they'd bring their own special spice to the show. We might think we know what that means, but given that it's these two, it's probably not as simple as dealing with rumors and infidelity. The show succeeds in bringing out the worst in people while attempting to fix their relationship, so look out viewers.

Chocolate chunk-eggnog scones are better than anything from the coffee shop

For this holiday-inspired recipe, I used a basic scone dough and added in eggnog and chocolate chunks, then gave these yummy treats a nice drizzle of eggnog glaze as a finishing touch. They're better than any you'll get at the coffee shop.

Chocolate chunk-eggnog scones recipe

Yields 8

Prep time: 15 minutes | Bake time: 15 minutes | Inactive time: 1 hour | Total time: 1 hour 30 minutes

Ingredients:

For the scones

  • 2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 stick cold butter, cut into pieces
  • 1/2 cup cane sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 3/4 cup cold eggnog
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chunks

For the eggnog drizzle

  • 2 tablespoons cold eggnog
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Directions:

  1. Heat the oven to 375 degrees F, and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, combine the flour, butter, sugar, baking soda and sea salt. Using a pastry cutter, cut the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles crumbs.
  3. Add in the eggnog and vanilla extract, and mix until a stiff dough forms. Fold in the chocolate chunks, and turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface.
  4. Roll the dough into about a 1-inch thickness, and cut the scones into desired shapes.
  5. Place the scones on the baking sheet, and bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until the scones are a light golden brown on top.
  6. Remove the scones from the oven, and allow to cool for 30 minutes on a wire rack.
  7. In a small bowl, combine the ingredients for the glaze, and mix well.
  8. Once the scones are cooled, drizzle the glaze on top, and allow the glaze to dry for about 30 minutes.
  9. Serve with a hot cup of coffee or tea, and store leftover scones in an airtight container.

The Amazing Race: 5 Reasons the cheerleaders should be in the final three

0
0

I'll be the first to admit that I didn't take The Cheerleaders seriously in the beginning. They seemed like the typical — well — cheerleaders. Beautiful, bubbly, scattered. All the stereotypical things one would associate with being a cheerleader. But as we moved through the season, they started to win me over and absolutely deserved a place on that mat tonight and here's why:

1. They had spunk

These ladies had a good time in most of the tasks that they did. Sure there were a few times they had complete meltdowns, but who didn't?

2. They were supportive

When either one of them was running low on energy or hit that "I can't do this" point, the other was there to lift the them up and push them to do it. Not because of the race, but because of their friendship and the commitment they had to each other. That's the real thing, friends.

3. They were compassionate

Sure they wanted to win but more importantly, they wanted to stay true to themselves. They had ethics and integrity — something you don’t see very often in reality shows.

4. They were perfectly fit for some of the challenges

I was honestly surprised that they had such a hard time with the last challenge, because at any other artistic or athletic one they did, they excelled. Even rapping in French was no problem for them, and who can forget the double-dutch?!

5. They genuinely cared

The only other team that shed more tears than The Cheerleaders was The Green Team, and while many may say it's weak, I think it’s because they cared so much. Or they were exhausted. Chances are, it was both. They had a close tie with Team Texas and a lot of tears and emotions were shared there, but I think these ladies just gave it their all.

I was a little nervous that The Green Team was going to go out in a huge blaze of glory tonight, and I'm glad that they didn't. They are the one team that deserves to be in the final three, but it really killed me to see The Paparazzi hit the mat over The Cheerleaders. I just can't wrap my arms around a team that seems so disjointed over a team that was in it together the whole time. All I can hope for at this point is that we’ll see The Cheerleaders again on another season.

What about you? Did you hope to see The Cheerleaders in the final 3? Do you think they played a good game?
