A 70-week hiatus.

So, it's good to see Messer back to posting snaps of her adorable family.

She broke her drought on the social media platform by posting an übercute photo of her and her three girls, Alannah, Aleeah and Adalynn, on a little family date night at the movies. They saw the kid-friendly flick Minions.

She captioned the photo, "There's nothing like a movie night with my girls! #mommysgirls #AAA"

Messer's foray back to Instagram comes a few weeks after completing a month-long stint in rehab for stress and depression. Messer did, however, post to Twitter upon reuniting with her children after rehab.

More: Caitlyn Jenner might be the new face of the Republican party

The Olympic athlete turned transgender woman made her red carpet debut at the show, where she was set to receive the Arthur Ashe Courage Award, named for the famous tennis player who later became a voice for athletes with AIDS.

ESPN's choice to honor Jenner with the award was already a controversial one, and many critics slammed the network, calling the move a publicity stunt. Reps from ESPN, however, denied it, including ESPY coproducer Maura Mandt, who explained the choice by saying, "I think Caitlyn's decision to publicly come out as a transgender woman and live as Caitlyn Jenner displayed enormous courage and self-acceptance. [This] is what the Arthur Ashe Courage Award is about, somebody from the athletic community who has done something that transcends sport."

More: Caitlyn Jenner endured the most hatred at the ESPYs since coming out

Sure, the singer rocked the ESPY Awards as her sexy, single self, and the confidence radiating from her is enough to make anyone seem like a new woman. But there's definitely something physically different: her nose.

In shots of Spears on the red carpet, it definitely looks different. We can't quite put our finger on it. It's… longer maybe?

Regardless of exactly what's changed, we're not the only ones to take notice. Fans have been letting nose job speculation fly on Twitter.

It's not the first time plastic surgery controversy has surrounded the 33-year-old singer. In 2008, Rolling Stone broke the story that Spears had been allowed to get breast implants when she was a teen, though she later had them removed. And since 2014, Spears has let slip in an interview here and there that she's had lip injections and "other fun stuff."

But nothing the singer has done has ever been so drastic as her nose appears now — or garnered as much hate as she's getting for it on Twitter.

We just have this to say, though: If she's happy with her nose, then rock on, girl.

While we know it's not exactly the same dress, since Versace custom designed it for Caitlyn, we can't blame her for giving Khloe a style nod, nor would we blame her had she actually raided her step-daughter's closet. It caught everyone off guard and left fans devastated, wondering who would fill the void in Furious 7, which Paul was still filming when he died. Ultimately, his brothers Cody and Caleb stepped in to help finish the movie, an act that was therapeutic for fans, everyone on set and, undoubtedly, Cody and Caleb themselves.

The two brothers flourished on the Furious 7 set, and now Cody is focused on creating an acting career of his own. He's currently filming USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage alongside Nicholas Cage and Tom Sizemore and has been sharing photos of the experience.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney is working on a new film called Genies. It's being written by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift and will follow the story of how Aladdin's beloved blue-skinned Genie got enslaved to the magic lamp in the first place — and Haynes may have just hinted that he's going to be a part of the dream team.

There's certainly evidence to suggest that might be the case, given the Arrow actor's latest Instagram post, in which he referred to himself as being a "Disney character in another life" — could that be his subtle way of telling us he is the new Aladdin?

And his Instagram image is not the only evidence suggesting that he may be taking up the role of a street urchin. The Hollywood Reporter has also revealed that Tripp Vinson is on board to produce via his Vinson Films banner. Why does this matter to you, you ask?

Vinson was the executive producer on the 2015 film San Andreas, which also happens to be a film that Haynes was cast in — he played the role of the Joby. The camera often, during Caitlyn's acceptance speech for the Arthur Ashe Courage Award, panned down to the most famous of the bunch, the Kardashian sisters and Kylie and Kendall Jenner. You could often see Brody and some of Jenner's other children in the background, too.

But notably missing was former stepson Rob Kardashian.

Rob, the reclusive socks designer, decided against making a public appearance, even for such a momentous occasion. And while he chose not to publicly support Jenner, he did throw up a sign of support for his sister Kourtney in the wake of her recent nasty breakup with long-time boyfriend Scott Disick.

Parents outraged over Princess Leia action figure

You're familiar with Princess Leia, who is one of the strongest Star Wars characters, right? And I'm sure you're also familiar with her Jabba the Hut scene where she's chained up while wearing a pretty badass metal bikini? Turns out that there is a toy depicting her in this scene that is available for kids ages 4 and up, which is unsurprising as it's pretty similar to other action figures that have been churned out since Star Wars: Return of the Jedi debuted in 1983.

MoreParents punish kids by making them watch TV

However, this dad, who didn't seem to be super familiar with the film franchise, completely flipped his lid when he and his girls came across Slave Leia in Target while they were shopping for birthday presents.

Princess Leia toy spawns outrage

Princess Leia toy spawns outrage

"That’s pretty inappropriate," he told My Fox Philly. "I got two daughters I don't need seeing that crap."

I'm trying to understand where the outrage stems from. Is it the bikini she's clad in? I would hope not, considering he and his girls probably walked right by this Barbie at the same store:

Target Barbie in a bikini

Image: Target

Or is it because Leia is chained up? Is it because she's a female in black packaging, which makes it more... I don't know... serious? Or like it is meant for boys? Or is it a combo of her vapid expression (seriously, why couldn't they do a better job on her face?), the bikini and the chain? As another parent interviewed by My Fox Philly said, "It’s a little indecent. A little more clothing would have helped."

This dad seemed to be unsure how to answer his girls' questions, but I can sum it up pretty well if he doesn't want to rewatch the movie: Leia was captured by an evil creature, but she triumphed in the end by choking the giant beast with the chain meant to enslave her.

MoreGirl bitten by rabid bat while playing at park

This dad doesn't indicate if other Leia action figures were avaliable in the store also, but the bikini version is not the only one that has been put out in this series of toys — she is also available in her Boushh disguise. And there is no shortage of other awesome Leia action figures — for example, here is Leia on Hoth ($8, Hasbro).

Of course, not everyone is on the same page when it comes to what we feel is appropriate for children, but I have to say if you have a problem with one scantily-clad female toy, then you should probably stay out of the toy aisles and stick to shopping online for toys you feel are appropriate for your own kids — or be prepared to answer their questions with honesty. Wearing bikinis is not the exclusive domain of Princess Leia toys by any stretch of the imagination, and saying this toy is suitable only for adults is a huge stretch.

8 Best stretches for lower back pain

$

And if you haven't had a bout of back pain yet, count yourself lucky... and prepare yourself to join the ranks. It's estimated that 80 percent of the adult population will experience back pain at some point in their lives.

Low back pain stretches for Pinterest

I, myself, am no stranger to the pain. In fact, I've struggled with chronic low back pain for more than 10 years. I've tried everything: OTC medication, massage, chiropractic care, stretching, foam rolling and yoga, just to name a few. Most people do best with a regular pain management regimen that includes a variety of treatments, but I swear by the following yoga-inspired stretches to help keep my back limber and pain free.

More: 8 Back pain myths — debunked

1. Cat/Cow

 Cat-cow

Start with a neutral spine while on your hands and knees. Take a slow breath in through your nose as you arch your lower back, stretching your pelvis and head toward the sky (Cow Pose). Breathe out slowly as you reverse the movement, tucking your pelvis under as you look toward your navel (Cat Pose). Each breath should last a count of three. Continue alternating between Cat and Cow for five full repetitions.

2. Child's Pose

Child's pose

Start with a neutral spine while on your hands and knees. Shift your hips back over your heels and stretch your arms forward as far as you comfortably can. Relax into this pose as much as you can, allowing your pelvis to feel weighted, sinking into your heels. Hold for 10 seconds, then shift forward onto your hands and knees (you can even shift into Cow Pose if you'd like — arching your back and tilting your pelvis up) before sinking back into Child's Pose again.

3. Downward Dog

Downward dog

Start with a neutral spine on your hands and knees. Then, begin by tilting your pelvis up toward the sky, and push through the balls of your feet as you lift your knees from the ground, pressing your hips up to the sky as you slowly straighten your arms and legs as much as you can. Allow your head to hang loose between your arms. If your hips, low back and hamstrings are tight, you may not be able to straighten your legs all the way. Do what you can and try "pedaling" your legs back and forth for a deeper stretch on each side by bending one knee, then the other, as you straighten the opposite leg as much as you can. While you do want to press your heels toward the ground, they do not have to touch down.

More: Hidden causes of back pain and how to silence them

4. Plank

Plank

A strong core can help prevent back pain — and the plank is one of the safest exercises to perform while experiencing back pain because it doesn't require movement to be effective. Simply form a straight line from your head to your heels. You can start with your knees and forearms on the ground, holding for just 10 to 30 seconds at a time. As you get stronger, try the exercise with your legs extended or in a high plank position. Work your way up to holding each plank for a full 60 seconds.

5. Cobra

Cobra

Cobra helps strengthen the lower back while maintaining flexibility in the spine. Lie on your stomach with your legs stretched behind you. Place your palms on the ground, in line with your shoulders, but in front of your chest. Breathe in through your nose as you press lightly through your palms and tighten your back to lift your chest and shoulders from the ground. Hold for three seconds, then lower slowly as you breathe out. While your palms act as support, you should actively engage your back to lift your chest upward. Repeat the exercise five times.

6. Figure 4

Figure 4

Figure 4 does wonders for stretching your hamstrings and hips, both of which can contribute to low back pain. Lie on your back, your knees bent and feet flat on the floor. Lift your right foot from the floor and cross it over your left knee so your right hip rotates outward. Lift your left foot from the floor, bringing your left knee toward your torso. Reach your hands around your left thigh to help pull it toward you and deepen the stretch. If this feels comfortable, use your right elbow to press your right thigh away from your body, then begin to slowly extend your left knee, straightening your left leg as much as you can. Hold for 30 seconds, then repeat on the opposite side.

More: 6 Hip stretches that give major stress relief

7. Happy Baby

Happy baby

With a soft mat or thick towel beneath you, lie on your back, your knees bent and feet flat on the floor. Bend your knees in toward your chest, lifting your feet from the ground. Grasp around the outside of your feet with your hands, pulling your feet down toward your body (your knees should remain wide as you do so). Hold this position, stretching your low back and hips, then start rocking slowly from side-to-side to lightly massage the muscles surrounding your spine. Maintain the position for 30 to 60 seconds.

8. Easy spinal twist

Easy spinal twist

Maintaining the flexibility of your spine is incredibly important, even when you're hurting, but if the idea of overzealous twisting makes you want to run for cover, I don't blame you. The easy spinal twist is truly safe for everyone — just make sure you listen to your body and only twist as far as it will allow.

Lie on your back, your arms stretched out to the sides, your knees bent, your feet flat on the floor. Look over your left shoulder, then allow your knees to "fall" to the right as far as is comfortable (in a controlled fashion) while keeping your left shoulder anchored to the ground. You should feel a nice stretch through your left hip and low back. Hold for five seconds, then rotate back to center before repeating on the other side. Perform three to five sets.

  • 100,000,000 social media exposures of the #womenslives hashtag
  • 18,000,000 unique people reached by the #womenslives hashtag in Twitter alone
  • 16,000 Tweets using #womenslives by all Twitter users
  • 240 incubator experts = 1% of SheKnows Media Social Influencers

Getting Those Results

When President and CEO of PRI, Alisa Miller, and I set our partnership goals, we hoped to reach ten million unique people across digital media this year. We achieved that goal before the first 90 days.

At a time when PRI's headlines are in heated competition for digital users, this incubator succeeded by applying the same techniques SheKnows Media uses to create, amplify, and deliver content marketing campaigns for top brands every day:

  • Step 1: Create more great stories that include the voices of women
  • Step 2: Generate women-led, quality social media conversations about these stories
  • Step 3: Track these social conversations about content, and use those insights to evolve

Here's What We Did:

Step 1: Create more stories that include the voices of women and girls

Creating more stories that include the voices of women and girls was PRI's call to arms. At UN Week last year, President and CEO Alisa Miller declared her initiative Across Women's Lives:

"The goal of Across Women's Lives is to address a huge, pervasive problem in the news media: women are literally missing in huge percentages from the news. In fact, the news media features women only 24% of the time in any way, and only six percent of news stories highlight gender in/equality or issues," Miller said.

Map

"And when women are seen and heard, we are often shown as objects or victims," added Miller. "The news doesn't reflect the reality of our world, and this distortion damages everyone! It's completely unacceptable."

graph

"We at PRI are committed to changing that ratio. To tell stories about women and our role in the world—and engage women, and everyone in in new ways," said Miller. "Our goal is to tell and share important stories that increase conversation about the crucial connection between the status of girls and women in the world and progress in improving health, education and economic development."

PRI

Step 2: Generate women-led social media conversations about these stories, using our community guidelines

I was inspired by Alisa's vision, and committed to helping journalism about women reach the powerful listeners public broadcasting needs to reach to retain sponsorship and grow audiences via social media: Women.

Opportunity

Women are the majority of Internet users, and we use social media more addictively than do men. What's more, since 2012, BlogHer surveys have confirmed that the person most influential to a woman in social media is likely to be … another women in social media. So—if you are building anything online, from a business to an audience, it's possible that the most powerful advocate you can have is a woman.

We were confident in our ability to amplify #womenslives because we had two key ingredients: a massive community of women who have a record of loving the news. This community has consistently placed a priority on discussing current events without being hateful or harassing, which our community guidelines prohibit (it kills conversation between women, who will leave the conversation, and that's bad for our publishing business. More here.)

We also had a robust technology platform, the above-mentioned Momentum, to track all the third party-verified engagement for this campaign, from page views on blog posts to tweets.

Momentum

In fact, we know from Momentum which of our experts regularly amplify hard news—even though they might be known for (or even famous) for their opinions on food, parenting, DIY, fashion and beauty. Those predictive analytics are how we chose experts for campaigns.

So that's how we chose our experts in Momentum: We invited 713 people with a demonstrated interest in hard news journalism. Of these invitees, 392 women participated. Of these 392 women:

345 joined a private Facebook group where PRI and SheKnows Media editors shared and discussed one new piece of PRI journalism each day.

Most experts blogged #womenslives on their own websites: This community generated 240 posts about the #womenslives initiative.

Another 240 experts also created at least one social "tout"—our code word for all social activity, be it a Facebook share, a tweet, a pin, etc. Of this group, 63 percent created five or more such touts."

That last bit—that 63 percent created five or more such touts—is particularly notable. A few paragraphs ago, I noted that by sharing a daily story with one percent of experts—240 women, out of the 21,000+ social media profiles by women who create content and conversation to our community guidelines in Momentum—we achieved 100 million social media exposures for #womenslives, and reached 18 million people.

I know, I said that already. So now I can confirm that the data is actually even better than that: It was basically two-thirds of one percent of our experts, those five-or-more touters, who drove a distribution campaign that would retail at about $1 million in order to generate these results in premium content development and guaranteed social amplification at scale. But our experts took on this assignment out of love, and of a belief in public broadcasting and the stories of #womenslives.

#Womens lives

Step 3: Track these social conversations about the content and learn what works

By collaborating with experts who already had experience leading quality conversations about great storytelling, our social news incubator partnered with leaders online, leveraged the trust these experts have developed with their readers to drive engagement, and developed a brand in #womenslives.

Meanwhile, Momentum tracked this engagement via our proprietary, real-time interface, verified by third-party performance data. As a result, we confirmed that PRI's fantastic storytelling reached the far-corners of the women's internet. Here's a great example from March:

conversations

On March 24, Moxie Beautiful, one of our Facebook experts who is perhaps best known for her excellent style advice, happened to share a #womenslives story about WWII veterans.

Her community liked it:

Moxie

24,000 likes, 12,000 shares, and 2,000 comments later, #womenslives had a great week in social media!

Candidly, this example is not an outlier — it’s just another day of commentary by the women in our community, who have demonstrated since 2005 that they are seriously interested in the economy, health care, education, social justice, all #womenslives topics. But don’t take my word it — listen to the community: By way of example, I offer up the first minute or so of this video below, where #womenslives and #ObamaTownHall came together.

For the record, and in case you're wondering, this video is all improv: The comments and questions by our experts at #ObamaTownHall were not pre-vetted by me, nor by the Obama Administration (aside: This is why I look a little serious in this video, as emcee to leader of the free world). None of these women is a professionally trained commentator. They are, however, the voices behind their blogs and leaders at their own dinner tables.

I've lost track of how many writers blogged passionately in the past 120 days—indeed, in the first week of #womenslives—about being fed up with news coverage of women today—as journalists, and/or as consumers, as citizens, as mothers, AND as daughters who feel it's our responsibility to demand better than we are getting. To quote one of our experts about why she participates:

"I consider this a privilege, because not only am I now able to voice my opinion on issues that touch my heart, I am also able to reach women who would otherwise believe they are walking that thing alone … Stay tuned, because I'm stepping up on the platform in stilettos and a big stick!"—Trease, Transparency

So now … on to phase two. What do you think? Where would you next take #womenslives? What is your story?

4 Marines killed in Chattanooga shooting

The FBI has yet to determine a motive for this morning's shootings that took place in Chattanooga, Tennessee. WRCB 3 News reports the shooting suspect fired 25 to 30 rounds at a military recruitment center that began around 10:45 a.m. and lasted close to 30 minutes.

"Today was a nightmare for the city of Chattanooga," said Mayor Andy Berke.

CBS News reveals the incident began at a military center on Old Lee Highway when the gunman stopped his car in front of the facility and opened fire before driving away. A witness told news reporters the shooter was in a silver convertible and unloaded "a large gun on the Naval recruiting office." Sgt. 1st Class Robert Dodge said the Army office did not receive any damage, but neighboring Navy, Air Force and Marine offices did.

Shortly after the first shooting took place, the gunman quickly went to the Navy Operational Support Center and Marine Corps Reserve Center, roughly seven miles away, where he opened fire. Marilyn Hutcheson, an employee at Binswanger Glass, believes she heard shots around 11 a.m. "It was rapid fire, like pow pow pow pow pow, so quickly," retells Marilyn. "The next thing I knew, there were police cars coming from every direction." All four Marines were killed at this location. Their names have yet to be released.

"We've had a tragedy unfold in Chattanooga today," said Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam.

U.S. Attorney Bill Killian considers today's Chattanooga shooting an "act of domestic terrorism," WBIR News reports. The FBI and Department of Homeland Security will continue to help local authorities with the investigation.

Authorities believe the shooting suspect lived in the area and are unsure whether or not he had a military background. They do reveal he was not an employee at either of the locations and had multiple weapons. The Tennessean reports the 24-year-old was a naturalized citizen from Kuwait and possibly a University of Tennessee graduate with an engineering degree.

As the story continues to unfold, our hearts ache for the families of those affected and all members of the military.

If iced coffee isn't your thing, you could also make this with hot coffee. I think it would make the perfect ski slope cocktail in the winter. However, until the snow starts falling, I recommend drinking this iced-style by the pool.

Eric Stonestreet may not be pleased with Bethenny Frankel's latest comment

Bethenny Frankel just broke the golden rule. She spilled the beans on faking orgasms! Talking to Us Weekly's Loose Talk, the loose-lipped reality TV star was none too ashamed to talk about some women's dark secrets at all, either.

She said, "It's like giving a dog a cookie — like, 'good, keep going in that direction!'"

Whoa. I suppose it's nice she at least gives them some direction rather than letting her suitors flounder aimlessly. Frankel, 44, has been going through a very public and bitter divorce and has recently been rumored to be dating Modern Family’s Eric Stonestreet.

And after this revelation, I'm sure she may just have some explaining to do to her new beau.

Her new love interest comes as a much-needed breath of fresh air for the Real Housewives star as she has battled in court over the end of her marriage for months on end.

But she has always kept an open heart towards love. She told E! News, "I do believe in love and I'm totally keeping my options open and I've met incredible men. Bad apples don't have to spoil the whole bunch. I'm not bitter, I love meeting new people."

Good for her for keeping a positive attitude, and if she keeps doling out those cookies, she should be just fine!

In case you missed it: Earlier this month, Cyrus and the Victoria's Secret model were snapped passionately kissing on the set of a music video in Los Angeles, California, and the pair has been spotted together on numerous occasions since.

On Thursday, Cyrus took to Instagram to post a picture of herself and Maxwell having a Lady and the Tramp-inspired moment with a gigantic churro. She captioned the snap with, "@stellamaxwell #f***yeahChurros." But unfortunately the picture has received a very mixed reception.

While some people find the photo to be "so adorable" and think that the pair is "the best couple ever," there have also been plenty of critics who are not pleased to see that the former Disney star is now in a relationship with a girl. Some of the negative comments include "you're nasty" "eww" and "Miley is a lesbian now too? Damn. What the hell happened to Hannah Montana?"

There are also some very unnecessary comments about Cyrus' sexuality, including referring to her as a "lesbo" and calling her a "guy": "That moment when you realize that Miley is the guy in this relationship."

5 Independent plus-size Canadian designers you should know

Shopping independent means finding something unique, fashion-forward and edgy for yourself. And supporting Canada’s independent plus-size fashion market (size 14 and up), including indie and emerging designers, is a bonus.

Here are a couple of my favorite designers:

1. Jessica Biffi

Jessica Biffi

Image: Just Biffi

You may or may not recognize Jessica Biffi from Project Runway Canada, the series runner-up in Season 2. Designing has always been in Jessica's blood. Since graduating from Ryerson University in fashion design, she started her namesake label in 2009 and never looked back. Since then, she has shown at LG Toronto Fashion Week and designed a collection for Addition Elle. She's currently in the midst of relaunching her line, and Jessica believes independent designers are the way to go, explaining, "If people really want to see 'themselves' instead of the industry's ideal of the plus-size woman, it will only come from the independent designers. Larger retailers have to follow industry standards; it's a cost thing. But when you have more hands-on control and you have total control over your production, you can do things like have your campaigns shot on a size 18-22 rather than the industry 8-10."

2. Annika Reid of Minimaximidi

Minimaximidi

Annika Reid created and designed a line to "inspire women to embrace their bodies and have fun with fashion." Her line, Minimaximidi, was something she envisioned from childhood. "I started designing clothing [for] myself at the age of 8 years old. I was growing at a rapid rate and no longer fit the 'average' children's size requirement." With this taking a huge hit on her self-esteem, Annika wanted to create a line that reflected her personal style and creativity while also fitting her size.

Annika shares, "Being an indie designer gives us a chance to be different, fun, sexy and expressive with our style. We have an opportunity to make a statement and celebrate our bodies with a beautiful garment just like everyone else. If we don't support them, they will not have the resources to give us the options we so desperately need and crave."

3. Amarina Norris of Ursa Major+

Ursa Major Plus

Image: Ursa Major+

Created by Amarina Norris, Ursa Major+ is one of the first online spaces to sell vintage and second-hand plus-size clothes. Originally Amarina started off as a jewellery designer, creating her own line of "plus-size jewellery" that featured longer lengths and adjustable chains, curating her "witchy woman" vibe into a line that her teenage self would love. Commenting on the uniqueness of her brand, Amarina says, "Many independent designers have their products made locally or are at least more hands-on for the production of their clothing. You’re not buying a garment that was mass-produced, so you’re less likely to see it all over the place."

4. Tierra Sedgemore of Size Sexy Clothing

Size Sexy Clothing

Image: Size Sexy

For Tierra Sedgemore, Size Sexy Clothing means that no matter what size you are, you can be sexy and proud. With the pressures of the media mounting and sending women mixed messages regarding body image, Tierra decided to burst into the fashion world and start a brand that promoted positive body self-love and imagery while also empowering women. "I wanted to start a body-positive brand. Size Sexy is not just about clothing; it's a movement, a message that needs to be spread. We can be sexy at any size," she explains.

Tierra adds, "It's important to support independent designers so that women of all sizes have as many options as possible. I feel like indie designers are open to listen to the customer, add creativity and come up with one-of-a-kind pieces."

5. Rachel Holt of PRiMAALA

PRiMAALA

Image: Primaala

Rachel Holt is not just a fashion designer; she owns and operates her own stand-alone shop, PRiMAALA. Rachel studied at Ryerson University, and for her final thesis for its fashion design program, she designed one of the school’s first plus-size collections, pushing boundaries and challenging the ideal of fashion norms. "There are so many voices making enough noise to finally be heard," she tells me. "It's pretty incredible to see the ever snowballing amount of media coverage that spotlights the plus fashion world. It's thrilling and relieving all at once, because there are finally some options!"
